[ Ensign Mila - USS Mac] Ever since the surprise attack on the ship, their defensive fleet and the colony below. Mila had remained at her console, despite the plasma burns and cuts that she had suffered, especially after the Raiders had sprung their surprise. The strange energy pulse that had temporarily knocked out comms, weapons and power, was both crude and effective. However Mila had done everything possible along with the crew that remained to find a solution and get through to their people. The Ensign had no concept of time as the Mac fought against their attackers, the loss of several shuttles keenly felt. But they weren't about to leave and regroup, slowly but surely systems came back online. Enemy ships tore apart or burned rather than be captured. Yet the Mac persevered and a plan was devised to get through the dampening net. It was frustrating to begin with until finally there was hope and a sign that things were about to change. " The net is failing.... I don't know how or why but we should get a hole big enough to start trying to reach our people"." Excellent.. do what you can Ensign, whilst we try to capture one of these ships".There was only two of them left and then they could focus fully on the surface. Mila bit back an angry curse and several others until.... was that something?. Checking the sensors and comm panel... there it was again faint at first and obvious that there was some kind of delay. =/\= Mac to Ensign Vulbrix... there's a delay but we can hear you..... what is your status? =/\=

Two thousand blessings on Vulbrix! "Tell them - !" Kaya shouted at him from the door, but stopped herself. She was having trouble wrapping her soggy brain around a clear narrative of all of this. "Tell them we're all holed up in a sodding cave and there's explosions and phaserfire and casualties. Oh, and tell them about the Centaurian Dampening Net. Tell them it's probably a salvaged bit because the subroutines were messy and that it's probably being generated from orbit. Amateur hour! Tell them - just tell them! Elders, who's there?" She suddenly demanded through the doors, demanded of the jiggling handle. -- Myker Vulbrix Thea Baker, anyone who wants to be the person trying to get into the command center

[Lt. JG Syl O'Connell - Serenity - Caves]When Charlie released her hand, Syl took that as a sign she no longer needed - or wanted - help, and turned her own attention to the nearest patient that was struggling to get off their cot. Moving in to assist them, a suddenly calamity drew her gaze towards the entrance where a Klingon woman was about to fire upon one of the other patients. Before Syl could call out a warning, Left Ear had closed the distance and was working on shredding the Klingon invader in a most vicious fashion. The human's jaw dropped as she stood there, trying to process the sudden flurry of events unfolding before her. Charlie grabbed a dropped disruptor and aimed it at the Klingon. More invaders appeared, but two were blocked by a sudden collapse of the ceiling. Niles flew off his cot and tackled the remainder, but that was as much as he could do with his fresh amputation. Syl just stood there, paralyzed by indecision, until she felt a hand grip her shoulder. "Get me out of here," rasped the patient she'd been helping. She nodded, adjusting his arm around her shoulders and wrapping her own arm around his back, bracing his weight as he slid off the cot and stumbled towards the far cavern.

[ Cadet Left Ear to-Ennien - Makeshift Hospital] Left Ear saw nothing and heard nothing even as her nose filled with stone dust as part of the cave collapsed and cut off two of the raiders from their comrades. All she could taste and smell was Klingon blood. Her claws could gain no purchase through or around her enemy's armor. The Klingon didn't acknowledge the puny human's words except to turn so that the damned feline's body was blocking any truly damaging shot. There was fur flying everywhere and getting into her eyes and nose, the flailing tail periodically blocking her vision. She finally realized that she wasn't going to be able to get to her knife; the furred body was too much in the way, so the raider used the only other weapon she had at her disposal - her great strength. Left Ear grunted as the Klingon suddenly stopped trying to push her off and clamped powerful arms around her midsection and started squeezing. She had to end this. The Sivaoan had realized that her tail wasn't doing any damage to her opponent's head, so she whipped the prehensile appendage further back and wrapped it around a thick hank of hair. The maneuver surprised the Klingon, being unused to fighting hand-to-hand with an enemy that had an extra limb to fight with. Before she could brace herself, Left Ear was able to pry the Klingon's head back and sink razor-sharp teeth into her throat. The Klingon collapsed, gurgling as she tried to breath. Left Ear shoved away, wretching and heaving, sticky blood coating her white fur and tongue. She couldn't get rid of the awful taste, and now there was bile on top of it. Sound and sight and smell roared back, and Left Ear knew she needed to get up, but she was frozen on all fours as she tried to bring up every meal she'd ever eaten. As she vomited, the healer vaguely recognized that she probably had some broken or bruised ribs. Tag Felicity Ellis

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Caves, Serenity] Above the sound of weapons fire, he heard Quinn’s voice call out orders. Preparing to move, Shavan listened intently, and at the mark he joined in, firing rapidly to cover Jovireh’s advance. When she had made it and signaled back to him, he dashed forward. Stepping around the bodies of Bravo and the other raiders, he ran further up the tunnel amid the rush of covering fire, then dived behind a boulder once again. “Mark!” he called back to Quinn in his next breath, continuing to fire at the remaining raiders. The fight was turning in their favor, and they were no longer outnumbered. Another shot from his phaser hit its target with precision, and yet another of them fell. Isaiah Quinn Jovireh Velal

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Caves, Serenity] Amidst the chaos there was a hint of a smile that passed across Kova's face as Olsen granted her access to his imaging sensors. The Andorian would swear that it had nothing to do with how Olsen had been programmed to address her. "Thank you, Olsen," she replied verbally. She then found herself able to view his imaging sensors. Her first priority was to position Olsen so that she could see, but in a safe position. "Ascend seven meters and shift approximately half a meter to the left." That would position Olsen behind a dangling stalactite. She was still able to using his thermal sensors to see several forms approaching. Their velocity was too careful and lacked urgency. The line must have been breached. Kova shifted out of view. Apparently, it was Starfleet policy not to arm former convicts. A long sigh left her lips. She could hear some of them move past, her... possibly towards the hospital. Those people would be defenseless. Kova moved Olsen's sensors and saw one two going in that direction... another moving towards some of the coloninsts... and one was just standing there. What the hell were they doing? Kova started to reach into the pressure cooker to retrieve the phaser she had placed inside. She switched Olsen's thermal sensors to live feed and could see a Chalnoth lifting it's disruptor rifle towards Olsen. "NO!" Kova yelled as she emerged from her cover. The hairy behemoth quickly turned and fired in Kova's direction. He kept advancing towards her, each step matching every shot leaving the disruptor. Kova moved back behind the rocky pillar. It felt as if each shot was tearing a piece of the rock away. Kova recalled the weapon within reach. Again, she reached for the phaser, and no sooner had her hand closed around the handle that the butt of the Chalnoth's rifle smashed into the side of Kova's jaw. The blow knocked the Andorian to the ground. The side of her jaw was instantly a darker shade of blue while her teeth were stained with the blue blood that filled her mouth. The Chalnoth raider was upon her instantly as she felt his large hands grab wrap around the back of her neck, jerking her upwards. Frantically, her hands grabbed for anything they could find, but was met only with dirt as her fingers clawed into the cave floor. She felt herself being pulled to her feet only to feel the raider's club-like fist smashing into her side. She felt something in her abdominal region crack. She thought she'd screamed in pain, but was no longer sure if there was any air left in her lungs to do so. She fell to her knees, painfully trying to gasp for air. It was then her eyes noticed the phaser. She reached for it once more. She felt her fingers roll along the barrel as his hands closed around her antennae. She could feel the pain... spiking in her head, knowing what the Chalnoth raider intended. He wanted to pull her antennae right off her head. She could hear the groan leave his lips, as he attempted to claim his trophies. It was hardly drowned out by the sound of her struggling moans of pain. And then, the nozzle of the phaser was against one of his forearms. Kova pressed the trigger. There was a flash of light... and then... relief. Kova fell forward, her hand instinctively reaching to make certain her antennae were still in place. Thank Uzaveh[fn]Andorian deity[/fn] that they were. She turned to look back at the Chalnoth. He wasn't dead... he wasn't even down. He was simply cradling his forearm, which had a hole in it as the phaser blast had gone straight through. Kova thought of ending it all... then and there. But instead, she dropped the phaser, and instead picked up the pressure cooker. She through all her weight behind it as she whacked him in the jaw with it. That had been far from her original plan, but somehow even more satisfying. The Chalnoth raider fell to his knees. Kova swung again, this time knocking him completely to the cave floor. She stared at him as he lay there motionlessly. Her eyes narrowed as she swung the pressure cooker once more. This time, the blow cracked several of the raider's fangs, even as it skidded out of Kova's hand and across the cave floor, the rest of its contents spilling out. Kova stumbled a few steps, and barely kept her balance. She then picked up the phaser she'd had before and after studying the setting... fired at the Chalnoth with the highest stun setting. It was a long, satisfying blast for the Andorian. "Phuuzhca[fn]anal orifice[/fn]."Fatigue kicked in, as Kova fell to her knees. The raider's rifle was within reach. Kova pulled it towards herself and then managed to shift so that she now sitting and leaning against a stalagmite of Serenite. It hurt to exhale as much as it did to inhale. Still, she kept the rifle trained on him. Her eyes lifted towards the cave ceiling as she looked in Olsen's direction. "You get the next one." [ Thea - Makeshift Hospital] Some of the debris had aggravated the sensitive and just healed skin that was once a gaping gash in her side and back. However Thea simply grimaced and bit back a colourful curse as she righted herself and shook off small pieces of rock. The dust and other detriment would wait as she then refocused on the room. Just in time to see Niles launch himself at the remaining attacker who had been left slightly dazed by the explosion. Whilst favourable for herself and the others, she had to do something to help and with that Thea got creative. Improvisation without a phaser or other weapon wasn't too difficult for a physician, even more so with a medkit to hand. So as Niles continued his onslaught despite the scream of pain. Thea quickly found what she was looking for, loading up the hypo as Syl helped a patient and Left Ear finished dealing with the Klingon. The gurgling noise coming from the downed attacker and the Sivaoan vomiting became background noise as Thea rushed to help Niles. Finding a suitable vantage point, Thea injected the attacker with a paralytic that would incapacitate and enable them to question their prisoner. " Mr Niles, you did good but now it's time to rest" she said as gently moved the tactical officer off the other man. " I've given him a paralytic, it'll last a couple of hours, so enough time for us to question him".That last part was met by a look of pure malice from the Raider that she had just injected but it was over for him, as it was now time for answers.

[Charlie Fox - Makeshift Hospital, Caves]The earth beneath them shuddered and the sky was falling again; though this time it was rocks and rubble instead of spacecraft fire. Either way though, it was still technically death from above. Thankfully for Charlie, she was some distance from the entrance to the temporary hospital, which was where the majority of the cave-in happened. She blinked, ignoring the uncomfortable feeling of grit and dust in her eyes as she watched the Sivaoan try to eat the Klingon. Automatically, she lowered her new weapon just as the intruder collapsed. Nausea roiled within her own stomach almost as soon as Left Ear began to wretch and purge. As she'd learned on several occasions; Charlie had a weak stomach when it came to gross stuff. She turned away and noticed for the first time that there was another raider, now trapped in the hospital with them. As the doctor administered something into the raider's neck, all while Josh lay atop him, Charlie approached. Nobody else seemed keen to learn who exactly these people were. It rankled the journalist something fierce that these people just crawled out of some random hole and started to senselessly kill them. For what? What had they prized above all of these lives? She wanted to punish them for what they'd done to the colony. For what they'd done to her. Face still pale beneath the streaks of dirt she came to a stop and leaned over the unmoving male. "Why are you here." [Andrus the Artist - Caves, Serenity]When Andrus emerged from the passageway, having completed his first roundtrip to the cavern, he was greeted with chaos. There was no other way to describe it - the once almost-catatonic redhead was waving around a disrupter, there was a giant cat throwing up a lung, a one-legged man was wrestling with someone on the ground, and the doctor was using a hypospray as though it was a weapon. Not to mention the entrance to the hospital had caved in... He reached out a hand toward the Sivaoan, then pulled it back, unsure as to whether or not any contact would be accepted at this time. "Are you alright?" He asked instead. He cast about for something, anything to offer the poorly felinoid, and when he caught sight of a towel he grabbed it. "Here," Andrus offered, passing over the cloth. He caught sight of movement then, and the other young woman he'd met just moments earlier had begun to help with the evacuation. Immediately he approached. "Let me give you a hand." He moved to the other side of the patient so they could distribute the weight better. "I don't think I want to know what's going on in here, so I'm happy for the distraction," he confided, his smooth voice soft and low. "I am Andrus, by the way."

Tags: Thea Baker , Syl O'Connell , Left Ear to-Ennien . Soft: Joshua Niles The Lieutenant knew that his staying power in this particular fight was going to be extremely limited. He'd never exactly been a physical powerhouse to begin with and as he was grappling with the aggressor every bump to his mutilated leg was threatening to render him unconscious. He could feel his grip weakening, the aggressor was starting to work on freeing his arm which would allow him to make use of his weapon and kill him and everyone else in the room. He was done... Until his opponent went limp and simply stopped resisting, which was Niles' cue to fairly collapse as well, his lungs hungrily sucking in air, which made him just faintly aware of an acrid yet sickly-sweet smell he that was familiar yet alien to him. And then, through the sound of blood pounding in his ears, he could hear Captain Baker speaking to him, congratulating him for his actions but admonishing him with regards to requiring rest as she helped him off his victim. However, as he was being pulled away, he made a grab for the raider's weapon and managed to wrap both his hands around it, and when he found himself leaning up against a crate, and he examined the damn thing. His attacker had been human, but the weapon he had carried was of Cardassian origin; interesting. However, he did manage to look up to the physician-turned-commander and he managed a smile, his face pale and streaked with sweat and tears. "No promises, Skipper," he managed with a thoroughly uncharacteristic display of humour. It would seem his injury was starting to take its toll on him. Off to one side, he could see Cadet Enien recovering from her own ordeal, having clearly heaved up as a result and was utterly covered in gore, and Charlie was starting to interrogate their captive. Well, he was already dosed do he couldn't move at all, but that hardly meant his mind was affected. Now, though, was time to suggest something that or may not fly. "Captain, do you have anything to... loosen his tongue? A sedative? Something that can serve as an intoxicant?"

[ Ianto - Outside The Command Centre] The sounds and shouts coming from his fellow pirates as the colonists and their friends fought back, left Ianto with a decision to make. He could either be killed, stunned or try to make a deal with these people as right now he had nothing else to lose. This job was turning out to be more problematic, regardless of their earlier success and no payout was worth defeat at least not on his terms. Besides prison or one of those cushy penal colonies looked more and more appealing than death. Aside from a few cuts and burns, Ianto had remained relatively unscathed after finding a spot to preserve his life. Watching as more of his brethren fell before carefully making his way to the command post. He'd seen a couple of people stay inside and they were his only chance to make this work. When the door refused to open, Ianto started to bang loudly with his fists in order to be heard, before finally making his plea. " Let me in, I want to make a deal and I promise it'll be worth your time".

[ Thea - Makeshift Hospital] With the male attacker successfully incapacitated, Thea ignored the look that the man had given her as she focused on the others who had remained in the hospital. Aside from questioning the man that was now prone, the Doctor Captain knew there was a lot more to do and getting out of the hospital would be their next priority. However until then, she was very much interested in what their captive had to say as Charlie approached him and asked why he was here. As far as Thea was concerned, they all had a right to ask questions considering what these attackers had put them through and listened as to whether he would answer or not. Thea was also aware of other movement, recognising the Betazoid man from the square, as he helped Left Ear and Syl before Niles used humour, catching her offguard slightly. Putting it down to his injuries and the painkillers, Thea smiled at him as he then made a suggestion. {Quotes: Baker, Niles} [ LT Joshua Niles - Caves, Serenity Colony ]
The Lieutenant knew that his staying power in this particular fight was going to be extremely limited. A sedative? Something that can serve as an intoxicant?" [ Thea - Makeshift Hospital] With the male attacker successfully incapacitated, Thea ignored the look that the man had given her as she focused on the others who had remained in the hospital. Normally, she would decline to participate in something like this, especially as talk turned to the completely unethical use of sedatives or intoxicants, but then murder was pretty unethical, too. "Mate," she responded, lowering herself to her hunkers so she could stretch her arm out and lodge the nuzzle of her recovered disrupter beneath this germ's chin, "You can't even wipe away your own drool."Her head was thumping with pain to the rhythm of her heartbeat. She hadn't expected any of this. When she'd risen that morning she'd been looking forward to an easy couple of hours work, then drinks with friends and if she was lucky, a decent story or two from a local that she could add to her collection. Instead her entire life had changed. She focused on the paralysed man. One thing at a time, and the main thing on her mind was understanding why. "I'll only ask once more," she said, tone still dead, eyes not yet clear of the glaze of trauma. "Why. Are. You. Here." With each word she pushed the gun harder into his face.

{Quoted Posts} [ Ensign Mila - USS Mac] Ever since the surprise attack on the ship, their defensive fleet and the colony below. -- Myker Vulbrix Thea Baker , anyone who wants to be the person trying to get into the command center [ Ianto - Outside The Command Centre] The sounds and shouts coming from his fellow pirates as the colonists and their friends fought back, left Ianto with a decision to make. Tag Kaya Som Myker Vulbrix [ Ensign Myker Vulbrix - Command Center, Serenity] Myker wasn’t sure if they’d succeeded, since the Mac didn’t respond to his first hail, again there was a flurry of sounds by the heavy doors and Myk glanced over at them. He could very quickly work out who was on the other side, that would involve dropping his shields though. That said, if the person were a risk to them and the colony he was obliged to figure that out...this thought process ran through his mind at high speed before his attention was once again diverted to the comms panel as a voice finally came through, it was somewhat broken up and there was some delay but Myk could make it out for the most part His immediate action was to look to Kaya, he knew their status but since the Trill had spoken he was inclined to listen and follow whatever came next. Of course her mind still lightly fogged, from the beer no doubt, which meant it took a moment longer. The woman did effectively summarise their situation and with a nod Myk then relayed her words, although slightly altered given his more calm demeanor. =/\=Ensign Mila, music to my ears. The colony was attacked, we have many in the caves trying to find a safe place. We have casualties. Phasers are being fired and some explosives are going off, some in defense. Chief Engineer Som disabled the dampening net for now. She believes it's being generated from orbit given its messy subroutines. How are you doing up there? =/\= Myk relayed as much of the information as he figured was needed, they didn’t have time for every minor detail. He had asked about the Mac’s situation to get a clear idea of where they stood, was the Mac ready to assist? It was an assessment of the whole situation. A voice was heard coming through the door, a raider wanting to make a deal. Myker once again looked to their Chief, he didn’t have the power to make those choices. What he did have the power to do was work out the motive of the person behind the voice. What are you thinking Chief? He asked Kaya as his own thoughts toyed with the idea that he could simply enter the mind of the Raider. It was an option he wouldn’t have considered a few years ago, but since Betazed and the war it came into his mind too easily. Contemplating the choice he had he fired another question at the Trill by the door. Do you trust him? Could he simply be using those words to gain entry or had there truly been enough of a victory that he was doubting which side to be on. Myker couldn’t know without using his unique skills so taking a breath he threw caution to the wind, and let his shielding drop, forcing his mind to give off a sense of calm, which although aimed at the Raider behind the door, would drift into anyone's mind within a close enough range. It was the type of calm that left everything vulnerable, open to his now searching mind as it passed through the mind of the Raider to find his true motive. He had to know if this was simply a ploy, or a way to gain the upper hand. Kaya Som Thea Baker for Mila and the Raider. Soft Tags for anyone who gets influenced by Myk's wandering mind

{Quotes: Left Ear, Syl, Baker} [Lt. Left Ear shoved away, retching and heaving, sticky blood coating her white fur and tongue. [ Thea - Makeshift Hospital] Some of the debris had aggravated the sensitive and just healed skin that was once a gaping gash in her side and back.

Left Ear couldn't speak when Andrus asked how she was and offered the towel, so she accepted it with a grateful nod. Holding the towel out to the side, the Sivaoan crawled away from the pile of sick and gore, further away from the Klingon, and sat against the wall, finally able to focus somewhat on what was happening in the rest of the room. The badly injured Niles was lying on the floor. Charlie was pointing the weapon she'd picked up at the other raider, who appeared to have been incapacitated. The Klingon was staring at her as a final gush of blood left her throat. Left Ear heaved again and started trying to wipe away some of the blood and mess from her fur, at the same time knowing it was futile. She was going to need a real bath to get all the blood out; it had soaked all the way down to her skin. A part of her mind knew she needed to shake this off and do her job, but she was frozen in the horror of the violence she'd done, shocked that she'd been capable of it.

A part of her mind knew she needed to shake this off and do her job, but she was frozen in the horror of the violence she'd done, shocked that she'd been capable of it. Niles was not entirely certain of how his suggestion of drugging their aggressor was going to be received. The Skipper did have a pretty solid moral compass and she might have some objections to that kind of off-label use of medical stores, especially given there was no telling when they might be able to get relief from anywhere or what kind of casualties were actually involved in their current situation. So, it was a bit of a surprise when not only she didn't shoot down the notion out of hand, but actually suggested very clearly that cooperation was indeed in their captive's best interest. A captive who didn't seem entirely impressed by Charlie Fox pointing a weapon at him, and actually tried to sound tough at the time. Seriously, did these people really think that threatening rape and other form of violence as a gesture of defiance was actually going to work? Well, apparently not so well, given that the journalist was really driving the muzzle of her weapon hard against him. Now, being crippled, Josh did not particularly have access to his ability to walk around, but he did have an idea... "I'd be nice to the lady if I was you," he said. Granted, he didn't look particularly threatening, sitting there, pale and perspiring. But he still had a weapon in his hand... not that he was entirely too sure of his ability to hold it steadily right about now. Not that he was planning on letting the raider know that. "See, some of us here are Starfleet so we can't really do a whole lot to make you talk. But she's not. Now, we're all riding the high from combat stress, and things got really confused really fast here, so who's to know what we'll actually wind up recalling when we write our reports?"And just like that, he let that implied threat hang in the air. Of course, murder in cold blood wasn't something he intended to let happen without at least objecting, and the Captain, well, she did have a hard edge that she kept well hidden more often that not but he doubted she'd let too much happen to the raider in question now that he was in custody.
