[ Thea - Makeshift Hospital] With Jovireh's injuries treated, Thea knew that she needed to get to the Command Centre, after promising Shavan that she would meet him there. Not only did they have another Raider to interrogate but she also wanted to get an update on the rest of her crew. The Doctor Captain had just finished putting the equipment back in the medkit and was about to speak to Left Ear, when the call came through from Moralis. This was definitely good news and meant that the threat was truly over. Leaving the crew and colonists to start the clean up and recovery process. " The calvary is here" she said to those in the room. " I need to get to the Command Centre, but I'll have a team sent here asap". Part of Thea was reluctant to leave, but that was a cross she had to bare, with being a Captain. Everyone needed her and after clearing the path, that Shavan had created. Thea then acknowledged Moralis's call. =/\= Acknowledged Moralis, I'm heading towards the Command Centre, start dispersing your teams as we have wounded as well as captured Raiders =/\=Acknowledgment and instructions given, Thea moved on, realising this was unfamiliar territory. However kept following the path until finally she found Shavan and the Raider she had sent him to deal with. " What do you think, Lieutenant is it worth making a deal?".

{Quotes} Baker's voice through his com was a relief, they needed some back-up and the fact that someone could be sent meant they weren't totally losing this crazy battle. He didn’t have a weapon, which in hindsight wasn’t his brightest idea, and it was obvious that Kaya didn’t either. =/\= Acknowledged, we'll sit tight =/\= He acknowledged Thea’s words, the irony intentional. It's not like the could go anywhere even if they wanted. ”Someone is coming to deal with him.” He told the Trill nodding towards the door, his voice somewhat hushed because hearing that would give the Raider a head start on escape. Myk was pretty sure there wouldn’t be any dealing done today, Starfleet don’t work with people hell bent on destroying innocent lives. Myk had made light work of quickly working out the motives of the man behind the door, Myk also learnt his name was Ianto. With someone headed their way Myk took a moment to observe their Chief, his concern for her welfare finally making its way through the mugginess that was his mind. Although he found other humanoids difficult to communicate with, he was still a Betazoid and the empathy his people possesses forced its way beyond any of his own hang-ups. ”How are you holding up?” He asked her, he wouldn’t deprive her of her dignity by suggesting she wasn’t anything but on top form, even if it was obvious she wasn’t. Besides she’d done that plenty herself, wheat beer was a terrible idea for her, especially if she'd consumed amounts disproportionate to her smaller size which the Betazoid had assumed based off the brief moment his mind was unprotected. Myk’s attention snapped to the door when a different voice was heard in the fray, Myk recognized it as Lieutenant Th’zhaar . ”He’s telling you the truth." Myk offered, not that it would help the raider’s case but it would at least mean rash action wouldn’t be taken or at least that was his reasoning on it. Myk was also aware the man possessed information that could be useful but he’d chosen to refrain from poking around long enough to know for a certainty. Shavan held the phaser aimed steadily at the raider’s chest as the man turned and dropped his weapon. “Now step away from the door.” He might be there to see about that deal, but he also wasn’t going to take any chances. Though another voice soon called out through the door saying the raider was telling the truth; that must be Ensign Vulbrix, the Betazoid. That was good to know, even if Shavan wanted to make his own judgment. When he continued speaking it was calmly and invitingly. If the raider thought he could make a deal, he had to have something in mind to offer. “I’m listening. Cooperate and start talking, and you’ll have your deal.” There were still things they needed to know, that this one could be the first to tell them. [Ianto - Outside The Command Centre] Ianto nodded and began to move away from the door, knowing that he was smart enough to not end up stunned like the others. Although for a brief moment, he paused at the sound of another voice coming from the other side of the door. Of course he was telling the truth, but didn't comment as he silently thanked whoever had spoken. He knew better than to lie and besides he had nothing to loose by talking. The lure of a potential deal and them wanting his cooperation had Ianto singing like a bird, unashamed by what he was about to say. "I'll cooperate... don't you worry about that" he began. "Name's Ianto and this has been planned for months. There was supposed to be no survivors and you caught Bravo, he's one of the leaders. The other one is called Alpha". [ SCPO Kaya Som | Command Center ]"I need a f*cking nap," Kaya replied to Ensign Vulbrix, not too loudly. Her voice wasn't edged with anything frantic just some fatigue. There was loads to be scared about, she was still drunk, but in fact she was present and unpanicked. Kaya had her ear pressed to the door. Between the voices on the other side, the report from Vulbrix, and the clear voice of Moralis coming through the comm, Kaya relaxed sliding down the door to lay flat on her back on the cold ground for a moment. "Protocol says to hold the position," Kaya said from the ground. She was likely more right than wrong on that point even if not entirely precise. "Wait for security with the all-clear. Then we can go see if anyone died." She was glib about it, but worried. Myker Vulbrix, Thea Baker, Shavan Th'zhaar

[CPO Jovireh Velal - Serenity - Caves]As the pain killers kicked in, and the antibiotics attacked the infection, Jovireh spent her time on the cot drifting in and out of consciousness. While Thea treated her burn, occasionally she would gasp or wince, grip the cot beneath her or jerk away from the painful touch. But those reactions reduced in frequency after the dead and damaged tissue had been removed, and the flesh beneath it stimulated to regrowth. The pain from her scrapes and lacerations were mild in comparison, and during those treatments she remained mostly unconscious while her body processed the state of healing. Not long after she was left alone to rest, however, there was another noise that roused her. A voice she didn't recognize coming from the com badge that somehow was still attached to her shirt. Groaning as she struggled to clear her mind, she opened her eyes and looked over as the Captain spoke. Help had arrived... Thank the deities... Carefully pushing herself into a sitting position, Jovireh looked down at her exposed leg, and was rather surprised to see it completely healed. Not even a scar to show for it... Definitely impressive considering the rudimentary equipment available in the caves. Before she could clear her mind enough to speak, Captain Baker had left, and Jov looked around at those remaining. Her gaze landed on Left Ear... And Lt. Niles. A brief of guilt clutched at her that she was leaving this fight without a scratch, and he was leaving it without a leg. She wanted to say something to him, but sympathy and reassurance all sounded so hollow. So instead she gave him a small nod of acknowledgement before turning back to Sivaoan. "I'm mobile now. Anything you need help with?" There wasn't a lot she could do with her body still coming out of the shock, but hopefully she could make the Cadet's job a little bit easier.

{Quoted Posts} [ Mara - Cavern Refuge] Mara saw the relief etched on her friend's face as he greeted her with a smile, before revealing what he had found out about the attacker that they had captured. Not too surprised at how Taron had gotten that information considering the circumstances and how they had terrorised her people. There was a look of digust followed by recognition and the memory of that ill fated meeting. How could she forget about the group who had turned up with little warning and how they had tried to talk them into letting them mine the Serenite. Not that they stayed for very long, once the council had made it clear that the Serenite wasn't for sale and neither was the colony. Anger burned within as she turned away from Karesh and answered Taron. " Yes I remember and I can't believe that they've done this too us".When Taron then shared further details and vital ones at that, Mara agreed with telling the Fleeters immediately as Karesh found his tongue. " I'll go find them and tell them, but yes you vile creature.. you should of stayed away like we asked".With one last look of hatred, Mara allowed Tali to lead her out of the cavern once more, trusting the youngster to find a safe way back to the Fleeters. It wasn't long before they found Isaiah and a few others rounding up the now defeated attackers. " Isaiah, I have vital information about these attackers.... they have a ship in orbit and turns out that at least one of them came to Serenity a month or so ago with a group of miners, who tried to make a deal in order to get their hands on Serenity".[Serenity - Outside The Caves] Now that the enemy ship had been dealt with and it's remaining crew taken into custody by the Hyperion. A combined taskforce from the Mac, Hyperion and Manderas beamed down to the surface of the attack ravaged colony. The fires that had continued to burn were a stark reminder of what had happened here, along with the bodies that were scattered as the teams did their preliminary sweep. Some teams remained to deal with the fires, search for any survivors and treat the dead with respect and dignity. Whilst others moved forward towards the caves, capturing any rogue attackers in the process until they reached the blocked off entrance and made contact. =/\= Moralis to Captain Baker and everyone who can hear, we have multiple teams on the surface and have captured all remaining attackers and their ship. The colony is now secure and will be with you momentarily =/\=Accessing the entrance only took minutes and soon teams were filing in to assist. [Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Cavern Refuge] As the prisoners were bound with whatever they could find, Isaiah heard Mara mention to him something about vital information. He gave the woman his full attention, and learned reconnaissance they had managed to conduct by planting someone on one of the mining teams last month. The science officer nodded, understanding. "I see. Thanks, Mara. We'll see about putting that to use to learn even more from them." Isaiah's eyes surveyed each of them, and his eyes finally settled on Bravo. He reached down pulled the invader up to his feet. "You," he said as he pulled him up. "I think it's time we had a little chat. In fact, how about we have a little exchange of information. You tell me what I want to know about your little group... their plans... their infiltration... and I'll tell you all about enhanced interrogation techniques."Isaiah shrugged. "Some people prefer torture, but I'd like to think we're too civilized for that sort of thing. After all, under duress, it's possible someone will tell you exactly what you want to hear. However, the Orions... their techniques are actually very effective... very reliable... and not readily detectable afterwards." A slight smirk spread across Quinn's lips. "I could tell you about it... or even show you."... Later... As the communication from the Mac came through, Quinn led Bravo back to the others. He wasn't certain if he had learned anything more compared to the others, but knew that they'd debrief about all that they had learned. Of course, Quinn had a sneaking suspicion that what had happened here on Serenity was likely a small piece of a much larger puzzle. With the prisoners all under guard, he began to make his way back towards the Command Center.

This one had burns too, and was coughing excessively. He moved to offer his elbow, or shoulder if need be. He had the fleeting thought that if the colonists and their friends from Starfleet could not get this under control, that what they were doing here would be for nothing. He buried that though, as he was trying to be a more positive individual since his move to Serenity. 'Be like the name' was becoming his inner mantra. Unfortunately, living there had been anything but serene. "Let's hope," he said as he wrapped an arm around the waist of another patient and began to move. "I do not think we can take much more of the violence here."Just then, a floating drone appeared, and began circling Syl. Andrus paused for a moment, expression quizzical before he recognised it as part of the reporter's equipment. "Friend of yours?" [ Kova Sh'qaleq - Caves, Serenity] Kova rolled her eyes at Olsen's appraisal of use of the word fine, suggesting that her injuries exceeded the standard definition of the word fine. "Clearly, it's the human definition," Kova said. "Andorians are far more resilient." It never dawned upon her to consider the fact that she was arguing with a drone. Of course, Olsen had often behaved more like a person than some humanoids she'd met. It then seemed that Chel-E had collaborated with Olsen and located adequate medical personnel. The pair worked well together. It never dawned upon her that they were possibly conspiring against the Andorian even if it was for her own good. Kova nodded. "Go."She moved after Olsen, considerably slower than she normally would. Perhaps it was the injury to her ribs. It wasn't easy to to take normal or deep breaths. Much of what sufficed was shallow, sharp breaths. Kova coughed after a few steps, and could taste blood in her mouth. She spit the blue liquid onto the ground, suspecting that it was possible that her internal injuries were likely more severe than she had anticipated. She wasn't about to admit to Olsen that he was right. As the drone came to a halt, Kova's eyes fell upon the likely reason why. Syl was there, and Olsen seemed to be scanning her as well. Kova eventually caught up to them and rested her hand against the wall, realizing that Syl wasn't alone... accompanied by one of the locals. "You're... alive," Kova said, still taking sharp breaths. She nodded once at Syl. "A survivor." The label seemed to carry more meaning than needed to be shared, but it was accurate nonetheless. Kova then leaned against a nearby wall, resting most of her weight upon it. It was only a matter of seconds before she slid down the wall and onto the cave floor. "Heh... you should... see... the other... guy."

[Lt. JG Syl O'Connell - Serenity - Caves]Syl was helping the patient get comfortable while a medic looked them over, and contemplating ways to break through the blockage at the entrance, when Andrus asked about a friend of hers. Turning around, she immediately noticed Charlie's drone hovering close to her. "Olsen! Charlie's okay; she's helping the Captain." Well, 'okay' might be a bit of a stretch... But the reporter was at least functioning better than she had been the last time the drone was around her. Her attention was drawn by another familiar voice, and Syl looked over to see Kova... Apparently a bit worse than okay. Waving one of the medics over, the human moved to kneel beside Kova as she slid to the ground. "Yeah... This time I was smart enough to run away from the danger." She replied with a lighthearted grin. The medic began scanning the Andorian, and from Syl's position she could see the tricorder screen. Broken ribs... internal bleeding... "You mean what's left of him?" Obviously it had been a close range fight, but Kova had come out of it and the 'other guy' hadn't. Once more the pilot was impressed by the Andorian's ability to defend herself, and wished she could do something more to help her than just keep her company. "Unfortunately I can't pop your ribs back into place, so you're going to have to let them help you." Thankfully the medic seemed to be in 'the zone', grabbing what was needed for immediate treatment until they could get to a real medical facility, and didn't seemed bothered by her casual commentary.

[ LT Joshua Niles - Caves, Serenity Colony ]As shock's grasp upon him tightened, the concept of time became rather nebulous for one Lieutenant Niles. However, it couldn't have been too long since he'd been left there. In fact, he'd let his thoughts wander at this point; whether Mac was a debris field or still in the fight, whether a distress call had gone out, whether this was just the calm before a further storm, those notions were actually nowhere near his train of thought. Well, not entirely there. But what he found himself thinking about was trying to steel himself with what was to come, and knowing he couldn't truly prepare himself for it even with his previous experiences. However, when Left Ear returned and lifted his leg, he tried to keep himself as relaxed as possible... and finding it actually a challenge. The painkillers were keeping the agony of his wound under control, or at least at a level he could tolerate quite well given his experience dealing with chronic pain. But his surviving nerves, deep within the stump, and his brain were still trying to make heads or tails of this new reality where there was nothing below his knee. Which meant he was finding himself feeling pins and needles where there was nothing at all, or trying to wriggle toes that were somewhere else in the cave system. Most disconcerting... And unpleasantly familiar. And, a credit to her training, the Cadet was speaking to him, seeking to keep him apprised of what she was doing, and warning him of impending discomfort. "Thank you," he replied softly while she went to work. And yes, it was certainly not exactly pleasant to have his wound irrigated with some sort of antiseptic. However, there was the matter of overdosing on pain management. Well, of course there was that... "You're the doc, Doc," he managed to reply with a ghost of a smile. "Given I'm not planning to wrestle anyone anytime soon, I think I'll be good for a while."Now, hopefully 'a while' meant he'd be in a proper surgical bay before the resources in the bunker would run out... And, despite having thwapped him on the head, Left Ear was quite gentle in applying a basic dressing to his stump, and just as she was securing it in place, he reached out just to place a hand on her furry, and well-befouled, upper arm. "Thank you."

Tag Joshua Niles and Jovireh Velal The flick of a tail against his arm managed to draw a wan smile from Niles as he sat there, exhaustion fully washing over him. However, he was still sufficiently conscious to notice Chief Velal standing over him, and to hear the conversation around him. Things were clear now? Had Mac survived? Had reinforcements arrived? Either way, it would be good news. And of course, there was the matter of the colonists whose home had just been the victim of a vicious attack from orbit. But, that was not a problem for right now, especially not for him. Not when he knew he could be looking forward to over the next two weeks. But one thing he could sense from the Securing senior NCO, was a degree of unease despite her acknowledgement of his presence, and likely of his state. But, there was little he could say at this point in time. He wanted to know about casualties, the state of the colony, how the Mac was faring, how the people he'd personally assigned to serve as weapons officers on the shuttles had been doing... but he was also no good to anyone at this point in time, let alone himself. Selfishly, he considered tapping his commbadge and calling for himself to be evacuated immediately, but instead he reached in his jacket's inside pocket and handed the communicator over to the Cadet. "Take mine, and get people out. We both know I'm stable enough for now, others might not be. Get them out first." Of course, while he had taken an emergency medical course at the Academy beyond the standard first aid training everyone received, he damn well knew Left Ear was a superior medical authority to him, and she ought to be even more with familiar with triage and evacuation protocols than he was. But like he'd been reminded all too many times, he was an officer and while rank did have its privileges it also most certainly had its duties... and as much as he craved to be within the safer and more comfortable confines of a Sickbay and to start the process that would see him fit for duty again, those duties included making sure anyone who needed urgent life-saving care would get to a surgical bed before he would. Then, he looked towards Velal. "Glad to see you in one piece, Chief." And the worst, or best, part of it was that despite how much he resented their respective professional situations, he indeed was glad to see that that she was whole.

Taron Lars (bio) | Cavern refuge ]Taron Lars had been able to hold his community's wrath at bay, keep their hands and hatred away from Karesh. The same could not be said for the Starfleet officer Quinn who set upon the dazed and bound attacker with threats and a typically human joy at the opportunity for retaliation. Taron might have taken more effort to intervene, but he had his people to tend and their relationship with Starfleet was proving to be a necessity. It may be an unfair comparison, but Taron dreaded what this could become, if protection from Starfleet came with compromises. Taron and others began the process of emerging from the refuge. Some families had been separated and hurried out to seek their loved ones who'd stayed at the front or been trapped somewhere. Sadly, not everyone was found unharmed; colonists were counted among the casualties. Taron himself led a team to begin assessing the damage to their homes, farms, and workshops. For a third time, Serenity was forced to rebuild. Exit

Myker Vulbrix , Thea Baker , Shavan Th'zhaar [ Myker Vulbrix - Command Center - Serenity] Myker was grateful for the assistance, mostly because being holed up in the command center was getting old, fast. After offering up the information about the Raiders intent, and that he wasn’t lying or attempting to deceive them, Myk figured it was time to wait out the rest of their crew and those in command could likely handle whatever deal the raider may offer. The Chief’s answer to his question received only a nod, the fatigue was obvious in her voice and now that Myker took a moment the weariness settled over him too. It was the deep kind of exhaustion that he didn’t notice in the heat of the moment, and likely not helped by his poking around in the raiders mind. The communication from Mac came crackling through his com and the Betazoid visibly relaxed just a little. The communication from the Mac meant they were at the advantage for sure. Of course that was a good thing. With someone headed their way all they could do was wait it out, for now, once able to Myk was sure they’d be able to assist with evacuation. He was uninjured for the most part, aside from the cuts and bruises that one would expect when a cave was falling on your head. Kaya sank to the floor, which made little sense to the Betazoid but he didn’t question it, she was likely exhausted and so it would probably help her regain some energy. Protocol was protocol and it wasn’t like they could go anywhere or do anything. ”Hold our position, right because there’s a million places to go right now.” Myk’s voice taking on a slight sarcastic tone, leaning against the cave wall near the door, following what the Chief had said he would wait for security to give the all clear. He didn’t comment about checking who was dead though, choosing not to comment. He was certain there were a number of dead, he was also sure some of the colonists would be among them. It was another tragedy for the colony, and rebuilding would once again need to happen. Kaya Som

[CPO Jovireh Velal - Serenity - Caves]Jov nodded at Left Ear's request to call for an emergency transport, and was reaching for her own badge when Lt. Niles decided to argue, still trying to be a hero. Sighing softly, she reached forward to rest her hand on his arm, preventing him from handing his com badge over. If the ship had trouble locking onto their signatures underground, the tech might help. "I wish I could say the same for you," she replied to his comment about her being in one piece. Truthfully, had the disruptor blast hit her directly rather than grazing her, Jov would be in the same position as him. "I managed to stay with it until the fighting was over. At that time, I was the only one in need of immediate assistance. There is no one worse off than you." Except for those who were dead, of course. A scuffling at the path that Shavan had created caught her attention, and she looked over to see a team of people in Starfleet uniforms filing in. Jovireh straightened and turned to face them, taking a step away from the amputee so the newcomers could reach him. "Chief Velal. It's good to see some friendly faces. The Lieutenant here needs to get back to the ship immediately. There's more wounded down that path there." She gestured towards the cavern where the medics had relocated the patients. As their rescuers spread out - some heading down the path while others prepared to move Josh - she turned her attention back to the tactical officer. "Don't worry about anything down here, sir. I'll catch up with the COs and make sure everyone is accounted for." With that, she moved over to Left Ear and offered her a hand to help her up. The felinoid was covered in blood, but due to the spray pattern on her fur, Jovireh had the distinct impression it wasn't hers. Seemed like she missed quite a lot while she'd been on the front lines.

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - outside command center] Shavan listened impassively as the raider began to talk. “Go on about this plan.” Their names were of little consequence, but there were a few things that could use answering. Like whether the Fleeters being there were part of it, and who hired them. Keeping his phaser trained on Ianto, Shavan moved closer to the door and quickly picked up the disruptor the raider had dropped. Before they could get much further, there was a message through the coms. It was a relief to hear that communication with the Mac had been reestablished, the rest of the attackers defeated and the colony secured. However, their defeat also made Ianto here less valuable, as they would have plenty other sources of information. So when he sensed Thea’s approach, Shavan answered her question. “He’s not a problem anymore, and he knows its in his best interest to cooperate. Though I would hope he has more to offer.” He fixed Ianto with a pointed stare. Either way, they could now get into the command center and finish this. Thea Baker

[Two Days Later]
For the last two days, The Mac alongside her sister ship Hyperion had remained in orbit of Serenity. Whilst the Manderra had left the previous day in order to escort the group formerly known as the Serpent Ravagers to Starbase 292, where they would face trial. These pirates and mercenaries for hire, would not go unpunished for the death and destruction that they had caused and neither would those who had hired them. From the information collected and subsequent interrogations, they had pieced together why Serenity had been targeted.
Essentially marked because of the Serenite, a mineral deemed priceless by many in the quadrant due to it's many uses. So when the colonists turned down a deal to allow it to be mined and justifiably so. Their refusal had led to the attack and the loss of twenty five people. The majority had lost their lives in the attack whilst the rest had succumbed to their injuries. The crews from the remaining ships had attended the memorial and shared the colonists grief. Assuring Maura and the survivors that the investigation would continue, until they could identify the Ravager's employers.
As the sun began to set on the still scarred colony and the ships prepared for departure. One thing was for certain and that was hope and determination as the colony vowed to rebuild and carry on.
