[Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Shuttlecraft Daintree ] Several alerts began to sound, quickly capturing the attention of both scientists. Both Quinn and Banyss assessed the situation and came to a rather alarming set of conclusions. "The degradation is increasing exponentially, we're running out of time, sir," said Banyss.
"That means were going to have to take them all in one go," Quinn said. The order came from the Mac just in time. He could agree with what Thea was suggesting, but didn't have the time nor did he think it prudent to advise her just how close of a call this was going to be. He then heard O'Connell's voice over the comm and replied. =A= "Take it away, Lieutenant. We've got them." =A= He then looked over at Banyss and nodded. "Energize."
Banyss locked on to the signals of the Aaodans and proceeded with the transport. It was only a few seconds before he could see the issues starting to set in. "The bio-signatures are starting to degrade," Banyss said.
"Rerouting main power," Isaiah said. He began to divert as much power as he could from as many nonessential systems as he could. He turned to glance over his shoulder to see that their signatures began to rejuvenate.
"I've got them sir," Banyss called out.
Quinn's attention returned to his own console. "Excellent, forwarding transport of the Aaodans to the Mac," he called out. =A= "Daintree to Mac. Acknowledge receipt of the passengers." =A=
There was a sudden explosion from behind as a panel blew off. "The pattern buffer is starting to overload, Commander."
"Reroute power from structural integrity," Quinn said. There was no hesitation as the order was given. The patterns' integrity did increase, but the ride aboard the Daintree became a lot bumpier. Additional alarms began to sound, and Banyss turned his attention towards navigation and attempting to keep the Daintree airborne. "As soon as transport is complete, get us out of here." That was of course if there was anything left to move.

[ PO3 Eliska Bremmer - Bridge, USS Mac ]"Aye Captain. Transporter Room confirms linkup is established, they are in control now," Bremmer acknowledged as she passed the word to the Transporter Room. In theory, she could handle the beamings from her own position, but that was entirely beyond her skills. Let the expert in Transporter Room 1 to handle things. There were lives involved, and this was where this wasn't the time to learn something new. Some folk back on Nova Kosice might call it passing the groschen, but this was a time to take pride out of the equation [ CPO Tirg Zorkunn - Transporter Room 1, USS Mac ]=A= "Daintree, Chief Zorkunn in Transporter 1. Got a linkup with you, let's do this," growled the Tellarite Transporter Operator. Twenty seven years in Starfleet, and the wondrous machinery that moved people and materials across space nearly instantly had always been his baby. So when there was a tricky beam-out to be done, it wasn't a surprise he got himself put in the hot seat. So, it meant he could ignore the audience he had, between the furry baby-doc and the Security goons the Bridge decided had to be there. They weren't his problem. Five living transporter signatures on the surface and two on that shuttle were. Doesn't matter who they were or who they belonged to, they were his to worry about and nothing else mattered. So when the word came, he started working his control, starting to bring in those on the surface. =A= "Bridge, Transporter Room 1. Starting to bring folk on board now."Though, as he worked, he could see how the radiation, gravimetric shear and ever-increasing neutrino emissions were starting to truly become a problem, and how the patterns he was getting handed from the Daintree were getting messier... He might not be able to get everyone out all right. =A= "Daintree, Zorkunn again. I don't know if I can get everyone from the surface, but if I don't pull the two of you out just about right now, you're staying down there."=A= Something else the better part of thirty years taught someone, it was that there were times one had to know when to cut losses to a minimum.

[ Thea - Bridge, USS Mac] Watching her people work was like seeing a well oiled machine perform as it should, with each piece slotting together to ensure that everything ran smoothly. The reminder about how close this all was had never left the Captain, her insides clawing with raw nerves and energy as she waited for the outcome. Syl with the drones and coordinating with the Daintree in receiving them, whilst the shuttle took care of the most crucial part alongside Eliska. Isaiah's voice gave little away as he began to reroute the Aadoan's to the Mac and Thea could only imagine what the Daintree was experiencing down there as conditions got worse. If anything she knew that none of them would give up until the job was done and tried to ignore the anxiety that was now knotted in her stomach until she knew everyone was safe. Hearing that the Transporter Room was now in control was somewhat reassuring and moments later the voice of Chief Zorkunn confirmed that. =/\= Acknowledged Chief, keep me updated =/\= There was nothing that Thea could physically do and as the minutes ticked by wondered how it was all going and if all seven people were accounted for. That's when Mila at Ops spoke up and Thea turned towards her. ********* [ Mila - Bridge, USS Mac] The Bolian had been monitoring the situation the entire time, from the moment that the Mac had arrived at the planet. Whilst she had mostly been coordinating with Engineering and keeping the ship in one piece, she hadn't ignored what was going on around her. So as the situation progressed and it came down to crunch time, the Ops officer was ready as she picked up the issues with transport due to the increased interference from the planet below. It was to be expected given the radiation and gravimetric shears etc, however there was something that she could do to help things along. " There seems to be an issue with keeping pattern integrity, understandable given the circumstances" she began as the Captain turned toward her. " Compensating now by diverting reserve power to the transporter signal and that should ... yes that will give it the boost we need".Mila's fingers whizzed over the console, confirming what she had said before speaking to the Daintree first. =/\= Commander Quinn, transport is complete for the five Aadoan's, bringing you and Banyss aboard now =/\= Then Mila simultaneously opened a channel to Zorkunn. =/\= Chief I've boosted power, you should have all 7 people as systems confirm that transport is complete =/\=

[Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Shuttlecraft Daintree ] Quinn continued to ignore the alerts that were sounding all around them, as he did his best to help maintain the integrity of the Aaodans pattern signatures until the Mac could collect them. He then heard Chief Zorkunn suggest that he take them up because the other signatures were beginning to fluctuate. =A= Negative, Chief. Bringing that family aboard is the priority. Understood?" =A= His eyes glanced over at Banyss who nodded in agreement. "Let's see what we can do on our end. Increase altitude. We may be able to rise above some of the interference."
As the Daintree increased it's altitude, some of the gravimetric shears became violent. The shuttle rocked violently, though Banyss did his best to keep them in the air. "Pressure is building in the port nacelle," Banyss announced.
Luckily, they started to receive good news for a change. He could hear Mila's voice announce that they had completed transport of the Aaodans. =A= Acknowledged," =A= Quinn said. He then did what he could to stabilize the Daintree's position as best he could. Almost as an afterthought, he realized he no longer had his commbadge. Banyss seemed to arrive at the same conclusion and placed his hand on Quinn's shoulder before the familiar tingle of the transporter claimed them.
[Transporter Room 1, USS Mac ]
The familiar scene of the transporter room was a welcome one. He nodded at Banyss thankful that his colleague had been aware enough to help ensure a lock on him. "Well, done Chief," Isaiah said as he stood on the platform. =A= Quinn to Bridge. We're all present and accounted for. Recommend we try to tractor the Daintree the rest of the way if possible." He wasn't sure which he ultimately preferred: explaining to Chief Som the damage of the Daintree or the fact the shuttle had been lost.
He started to descend from the transporter platform, and turned his attention to the Aaodans that had been brought aboard. No one appeared to be in immediate distress. He approached the elder male whom he assumed to be the father of this family. "My name is Commander Quinn, Acting-First Officer. Allow me to officially welcome you aboard the USS Mac. If you'll follow Cadet to-Ennien, she'll lead the way to Sickbay so that we can all get checked for radiation exposure."

[Lt. JG Syl O'Connell - USS Mac - Bridge]The first three drones were still hurtling through the atmosphere when the fourth exited the cavern and the shuttle came into view. "Hornet Delta has reached the surface. Recalling now." Syl tried to tune out the conversations regarding the transport in progress, but she couldn't stop the nerves that clawed at her as one problem after another happened. Indeed, even the shields of the drones were whittling away faster than they had on descent, and she could only imagine the physical state the Aadoans were in having been exposed to so much radiation without any protection. One by one, the lights on her visor blinked out, signaling each drone's deactivation as they seamlessly docked. "All drones accounted for in the docking bay," she reported as she removed the visor, put it back in its console and slid the panel out of the way. They had confirmation of successful transport of all parties, and she transferred the helm controls back to her station. "Leaving orbit." The ship rocked as it pulled away from the planet's gravity field, her panel lighting up with various alerts about power drains. She ignored them all though, trusting Engineering to hold the ship together and give her the power she needed to get everyone away safely. "Entering maximum warp." The ship rocked again, entering warp a bit rougher than usual, but leveled out moments later. Syl breathed a heavy sigh of relief and relaxed back in her chair. "We made it, Captain."

[ PO3 Eliska Bremmer - Bridge, USS Mac ]"Readings on the innermost platforms are spiking! Lost the innermost platforms!"Bremmer, now that transporter activity and the deployment of a Security team were out of her hands, could focus all of her attention on the sensor readings. And just to make it all even more fun the final stages of the supernova were finally happening. The initial burst of radiation had just wiped out the closest sensor platforms, which meant they had maybe a whole five minutes left to live unless they got out of there. "Come on, come on!" she found herself muttering. Transports were still in progress, and they were still there, and they still had the Daintree and its crew out there. This wasn't good. [ CPO Tirg Zorkunn - Transporter Room 1, USS Mac ]=A= "Daintree, you've gotta be out of your f*cking mind!"=A= The Tellarite's words came out in a crescendo, with the last two being pretty much shouted. What was it with officers? Was a lobotomy part of their commissioning ceremony? Had to be, given they were insisting on staying out there until the very last bloody second! But, orders were orders and he got word from the Bridge he was getting more power, and hopefully more computer resources too. =A= "I hear you, Bridge, I'm working on it!=A= And, so those resources came, so he kept on bringing the locals in, one at a time, and the fifth one was materializing even as he started the process of bringing in the two maniacs hanging out on a shuttle that had to be just about cooked to a crisp right about now. "Come on you piece of shit, don't you dare tell me there's too much interference! Twenty seven years and I haven't lost anyone in transport, don't you dare ruin my record you son of a motherless sow star!" That was but the start of his imprecations in his native language as he worked the controls furiously... Patterns were getting wonky, the equipment was starting to throw out warnings and faults. Switching to backup. Then to secondary backups. Then to the last ditch redundancy. But finally, the last two shapes appeared on the pad, just before the machinery in the bulkheads let out a shower of indignant sparks. And there was the acting XO, actually congratulating him for doing his job. "Anyone ever told you just how insane you are!" The Tellarite was roaring at this point. Bloody officers and their notion that if they wanted something hard enough it was just to happen. Oh. Officers. "Sirs." [ PO3 Eliska Bremmer - Bridge, USS Mac ]"Captain, we got everyone!" As she reported, Bremmer sounded positively surprised, and glad at the same time. It was never pleasant to lose crewmates, even those she didn't really know. But when the word came to see if Daintree could be tractored, she shook her head. "But no joy on the shuttle, I can't get a tractor lock."And right then, Syl did what Eliska trusted her to do: to be the one to know how to get them out of that mess, even as she watched the shockwave drawing closer to them. They were at eight light-minutes from the primary, with a whopping three minutes left to live, when she went to warp. In absolute distance terms, they had quite a bit of time left, especially for a native of a backwater for whom a flight to the other side of the planet had been a matter of hours rather than moments through waiting for a transporter pad. But it was still too damn close for comfort. But, one thing she couldn't help, though was to address the pilot directly. "S... Ms O'Connell, never doubted we'd get out, not with your foot on the gas."And right then, she felt the tension drain from her shoulders. If she never had to drive that console again, it would be too damn soon!

[Transporter Room 1] Left Ear flinched as the Tellerite began yelling, his volume overwhelming to her sensitive ears in the small space. She'd been all prepared to triage right there, but everyone appeared to be in relative good health, and as soon as Commander Quinn appeared, he was instructing them to follow her to Sickbay. The Sivaoan quickly packed up her kit again and gestured to the Aaodans. ' Hello,' she said in a kind tone. ' Come with me and we'll get you all checked out.' Left Ear knew they might soon be suffering from shock due to the circumstances. If they'd thought they could survive somehow on the planet, it may not have sunk in yet that their home was gone. She hoped one of the other doctors had more than the rudimentary psychology skills she did. Tag Thea Baker

[24 Hours Later] [Additional Log ...] " The Mac is now on it's way back to Front Ear after transferring the family of Aadoan's that we rescued to the Einstein, who will transport them to their new home world. I was fortunate enough to spend time with them once they and the crew from the Daintree had been cleared by Sickbay. Whilst there had been some animosity and uncertainty from Rolis, the Father, it didn't last for long once he realised the enormity of the situation and how dire it had become. If it hadn't been for his daughter Marale, I dread to think of what would have happened and yet I have no regrets in helping to save them.
I can see a lot of healing that needs to be done and I wish them well in their new lives and being reunited with their people. I have also agreed to stay in touch with Marale and look forward to a regular correspondence with her. As for the Mac and it's crew I am constantly proud of what we achieve out here and we definitely deserve a well earned break. It couldn't have come at a better time, especially since we received word that our faithful ship requires maintenance and upgrades". FIN
