The mystery of the Orunmila stumped all and at the time of its disappearance, had captured the attention of the quadrant. For months it was the primary topic of discussion amongst Petty Officers and Admirals alike, but despite multiple investigative missions, and even an attempt to uncover the truth by the crew of the Mac, the fate of the science vessel remained shrouded. Eventually public interest waned and faded, and with nothing new to report for over a year, people began to forget the strange tale.
That is until a trio of unlikely representatives received an unexpected distress call from someone claiming to be aboard the Orunmila.[fn]Night Shift[/fn] Noted engineer Kaya Som, former civilian contractor Kova Sh'qaleq, and former Nybberite Alliance officer Conor Lynch reported the unusual experience from their temporary station on the Denius Remote Research Laboratory.
Once a general location was pinpointed, a ship was dispatched immediately. They found no crew, but they did find debris that they quickly identified as belonging to the Orunmila's hull. Everything they could find was returned to Front Ear Station, the closest Starfleet facility. Orders are to study the recovered remains and to try and discern what happened to the Orunmila, and if possible, what could have happened to her crew. [Ensign Nork - Shuttle Repair Bay 2 - Repurposed, Deck 17, Front Ear Station]Approximately two weeks following the events of S2M11 / S2E11 Following decontamination, the materials and paraphernalia that had allegedly once been the Orunmila were laid out in what his colleagues and peers believed an efficient assembly line. Ensign Nork disagreed. He had made a couple of recommendations to the overseeing officer, but thus far his advice had not been heeded nor acted upon. All around him science and engineering officers milled about with no clear orders, running their scans and engaging each other in useless conjecture. Nork could admit that he, too, found this curious. But Nork also believed that there was a logical explanation for everything. He secured his safety gloves and returned to his scans, certain he would prove himself correct, as usual. ~~~ [En Route to Replimat, Promenade]8.5 Hours later - End of shiftIntent on necessary nourishment, Nork was making his way toward the public replimat to replicate himself a bowl of plomeek soup. As he neared, a distracted civilian, hustling toward home, stepped a little too close to the Vulcan, and bumped off his shoulder as he passed. "Be mindful of the direction in which you perambulate, imbecile!" Nork told the clumsy human, his voice raised in something that was almost akin to anger. But no, that could not be, for Nork was Vulcan and he had an iron grip on his emotions. He blinked rapidly, many times, rather shocked at himself and his outburst. He took a moment to gather himself and he immediately corrected his unconscionable behaviour. "My apologies, sir. I cannot comment on your intelligence level, as I am unfamiliar with you, but my reaction to your lack of consideration was not commensurate." The Vulcan backed away and moved off quickly, as though he could leave that little outburst behind.

[Blue Beta - Promenade]
To say that Jem Sparkles was in an exceptionally good mood would be a slight understatement as it was rare to see the Drag Queen in anything but a good mood. Not that she was going to analyse it or read too much into it as frankly she had better more fun things to do. Ever since Leanna had gone on maternity leave, Jem had been helping out more around the bar. Which in all honesty was just perfect and it wasn't as if Jem hadn't run a bar before.
Then there was also the matter of when the twins would be born and hadn't felt the slightest bit guilty in opening a betting pool to guess date of birth, weight and genders which of course was all done in fun. " Seamus be a dear and come help me finish securing these balloon arches" she called in an almost sing song voice from her position near the stage. A little extra decoration never hurt and left to her own devices, a natural evolution to pimp up the stage ready for the big drag revue in a couple of days.
Seamus on the other hand tried not to roll his eyes and always being the gentleman put down the crate of beer behind the bar before going to help Jem. " Shouldn't take too long Jem and then how about we go through the new cocktail list and make a couple?" he said as he disappeared behind the first arch to attach it safely.
" Now that's a great idea and I'm sure Leanna will approve once she gets back from Kerelia".
" I had a feeling you'd like that and yes I'm sure she will".
Jem simply grinned before getting stuck in with helping Seamus as she wasn't a complete diva who was afraid to get her hands dirty.

[Ambassador L'Sho, former Primary of Talor, former Supreme Commander of the Talorian Armada - Frontier Bakery & Café, Promenade, Front Ear Station]
"How many will it be today, Ambassador?"
"Only two Cakes of Cheese today," former Primary L'Sho informed his preferred server. He had become such a regular feature in the bakery, that even the ornery Talorian had managed to develop a rapport with the staff. His order that morning was trim; mainly because his waistline was no longer. Once he finished in the bakery and visited his recovering ha'la, he would have to attend the appointment with the Station's tailor. The realisation that the replicator had not malfunctioned and mistaken his size had been a difficult one to face. Almost as difficult as his reflection.
Following a little research, he had discovered that his favourite human fare was responsible for the slightly expanding middle. Due to the fact he was consuming several of the cakes per day, he decided that it might perhaps be in his best interest to cut back on the delicious dessert. As they were one of the few things to enjoy about this metallic hellhole, he had also decided not to deprive himself completely. He did not feel the need to; he could quit at any time.
"One 'Original Gangsta' and one 'Oreo Surprise'." L'Sho had sampled every flavour the bakery offered, and a few others they had baked just for him to sample, but he still preferred the original and best recipe. T'Rok had developed a fondness for Oreos, however.
"How is T'Rok doing?" The server asked, knowing enough to know straight away who the second cheesecake was for.
"He is recovering well." L'Sho's ha'la, his trusted bodyguard, had been poisoned during a recent trip back to Talor Prime. It had been an assassination attempt but with L'Sho's direction, his fellow Talorian had been saved. It had been a long convalescence of four weeks thus far, but T'Rok was single-minded and convinced he would be back on duty by the next cycle. In the meantime, and much to T'Rok's horror, the great Ambassador had been guarding himself.
"On the house," the server said with a smile as she handed over the cake boxes.
L'Sho was not often surprised, but this simple gesture managed to catch him slightly off-guard. After a few moments during which he considered if this was some strange, alien prank, he reached out to take his order and offered the slightest of bows. "You are a credit to your species."
That wasn't saying much, as the Talorian intensely disliked humans. But this one, at least, understood the meaning of compassion and honour, and showed it with cake.

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Shuttle Repair Bay 2] Shavan narrowed his eyes slightly at the screen in front of him, reviewing the updates from the rest of the team as he waited for another scan to finish running. Being in charge of Science’s part in analyzing the debris from the Orunmila, he was determined to finally solve the mystery now that the ship had been found after all this time. Getting tired, he idly ran a hand through his hair. Though it was admittedly an interesting problem. He had not yet arrived on Front Ear when the Orunmila disappeared, but had heard about it and been on the failed search attempt after. At this point there was still work to be done, as they continued running extensive scans of the hull pieces and the damage to them. And, regardless of any unnecessary comments about the organization, they would surely piece together the full story soon. ________ [ T’Laara - Blue Beta] Elsewhere, T’Laara sat at a table in the Blue Beta, looking out at the Promenade. A PADD was propped up in front of her, with a half-eaten slice of pizza on a plate next to it. Which was not all that unusual, particularly as it was a quiet day with little else to do. Maybe her choice of food was not the most logically nutritious, but it was one she had long been partial to. She typed a few more things into the report she was working on. For the moment, the seat across from her was empty and she had everything she required, so she paid the comings and goings of others little thought. open tags

[Blue Beta - Promenade] " Well that was fun Seamus we must do that again" Jem trilled with a wink in her eye as she stood back to admire their handiwork. " We will and now I must leave you otherwise that beer isn't going to stack itself" Seamus replied trying to keep a straight face. He enjoyed being around the Drag Queen and always had ever since they first met on Jubilee. She was infectious and he loved the banter between them. " Tata for now my dear" she said as Seamus then left her to resume his earlier duties. Happy with the productivity so far, Jem wasn't finished by all means and yet couldn't help but say hello to T'Laara as she passed her table whilst on her way to the stockroom. " T'Laara how are you?, is there anything else that I can get you?".

[Felicity Ellis - Ops Centre, Front Ear Station]With Captain Baker out on mission with the Mac, and Judy having retired to civilian life, Felicity once again found herself large and in charge. She had wondered where Vega had gotten to; but couldn't quite decide if she was lucky that there was no sign of him, or if she was about to take on far too much responsibility mere months after so much of it had been forcibly removed from her by demotion. To make matters worse, they seemed to be on the precipice of cracking the Orunmila mystery, and as such many, many eyes were directly on them. She stepped out of the XO's office, favourite coffee mug in one hand, and moved toward the nerve centre of the Station, sipping as she went. "Report," she requested, before leaning over a railing, eyes scanning over the crew present. Beta Shift seemed in full swing, and promptly each department began to give their updates. "The Caliburn is docking currently, Commander. There was some whining about the delay." Ensign Ev'ewa bared her teeth and let out a half bark, half cackle. It was an interesting sound; one that startled Felicity just a little. She brushed off some spilled drops of delicious dark coffee as the klingon dutifully continued. "I then asked them if they believed their schedule to be more important than bringing honour to the Orunmila's fallen.""She called them cowards."Ev'ewa turned to Dimmadome, her face pulled into an angry scowl as she beheld her sometimes arch-nemesis, sometimes best friend. "They feared their own timetable!"Felicity, amused as she was, cleared her throat and raised an expectant brow. The two duelling Operations Officers returned their attention to their own consoles. "Otherwise, it has been quiet, Commander -"A chorus of groans erupted from all corners. Ev'ewa, daughter of K'turtang, swung around on her chair, glaring at all of those who seemed to be challenging her words with sounds of displeasure. "We try not to use the 'Q' word here, Ensign," Felicity explained as she reached out to take a PADD from one of their scientists, fresh from the turbolift. "Thank you, Petty Officer. Please let Lieutenant Shavan know that I'll be down by end of shift for an update in person." With a nod, he turned on his heel and set off retracing his steps back to the makeshift lab in the repurposed Shuttle Bay. Felicity began to speed-read through the salient points of the report, thumb tapping to scroll, while simultaneously prompting the others to continue. "Okay, tomorrow's Security drills, let's hear it..." [En Route to Blue Beta, Promenade]The young man on the Promenade had been minding his own business completely, preoccupied with the need to get to the Blue Beta to meet with his date. Karina had agreed to go out with him, but he'd only really asked because he was into Kelly, her friend, and was hoping to cause a little jealousy. Unfortunately he'd decided to take an afternoon nap out of boredom, and had overslept. So he was rushing across the thoroughfare when he'd accidentally bumped into that very angry Romulan. No, not Romulan. A Vulcan! Ken had had no idea that Vulcans could get so... emotional. Perhaps it was his time of the decade? Ken stood, rooted to the spot, as the angry Nork insulted him and shouted at him. For a moment he felt he should respond somehow; answer the anger with righteous indignation of his own, but almost as soon as it had started, it ended. He was left staring in the strange Vulcan's wake, feeling a little discombobulated. After a moment though, he remembered Karina. And that red dress she sometimes wore. With that, he hustled back in the right direction. Ken stepped into the Blue Beta and spotted her immediately. She was beautiful. His heart skipped a beat and he sped up to reach her quicker. He felt like he was floating, that his feet were barely touching the ground. Karina stood from her seat at her table, presumably to greet him with a hug or a kiss to the cheek. Ken took the opportunity presented to him and wrapped an arm around her waist. He dipped her and with a smoothness that belied practice, he leaned in and planted a deep kiss upon her lips. "Karina," he sang her name, once he'd deposited the poor woman back on her feet. "I've been a fool." Karina's cheeks turned as red as her dress following the very public display of affection. She glanced around the bar with wide eyes as she tried to smooth her hair back into place. "What's gotten into you?" She hissed, trying to keep her voice down.

[ T’Laara - Blue Beta] T’Laara glanced up when she was approached by Jem Sparkles, working for the Blue Beta. “I am well. How are you?” The answer was habitual enough. As to the question, she considered, then gestured to her nearly empty glass. “Perhaps just some more water. Thank you.” However, her attention was then caught by the couple at a nearby table. Raising one eyebrow, she watched the unfolding scene for a moment. Then, in a manner of complete unconcern, she looked away and took another bite of pizza. Presumably the woman would not appreciate the added attention of everyone staring. Even so, she continued to listen. There was something about the unusual display of affection that reminded her of a completely illogical yet unexplainably addicting holonovel. Jem Sparkles

[Kova Sh'qaleq - Promenade, Front Ear Station ]
Vulcans.
It was no wonder you couldn't trust one. They seemed to have everyone fooled, but it was only a matter of time before they revealed their true selves. Case in point was the Vulcan known as Nork. His rather loud and emotional outburst had certainly captured the eyes of quite a few people in the area. He quickly attempted to file it away as an accident. After all, Vulcan's didn't lie... except when they were! Kova rolled her eyes, dismissing the mere thought of the pointy-eared menace.
Her attention returned to the screen in her lap. One would think that she'd have the honor of participating in the review of the debris from the Orunmila. After all, she'd been among the trio that had discovered its location. Clearly, that meant nothing. Starfleet had elected to review the debris exclusively for now. Though, of course that wouldn't stop Kova. There was more than one way to see that debris.
Her eyes shifted upwards as she sighed. It was so... quiet. Not actually quiet as the promenade was a busy as usual, but in her vicinity... there didn't seem to be anyone. She was alone. Kova began to think about how common an occurrence that tended to be. On some level... it bothered her. Her eyes caught a glimpse of some human in the Blue Beta... the human Nork had run into... dipping some woman as they kissed. Arguably romantic... at least by human standards.
Kova's lips curled slightly into a smile. For the slightest of moments, she thought the woman would respond by breaking his nose. Now that, would be romantic.

[Blue Beta - Promenade] Jem smiled warmly as T'Laara answered her and asked how she was, before gesturing to her almost empty glass. " I'm very well thank you, nothing like a productive day to lift your spirits and sure I can get you another water" Jem replied still very much in a good mood. Not that Jem was going to question it and if she paid for it later with one of her famous headaches, well there was always the option of having Seamus take care of her. The Drag Queen enjoyed winding the Irishman up but her train of thought soon evaporated when the slight commotion nearby caught her attention. Almost making her forget what she was supposed to be doing as this Karina reacted to what had just happened. Well this was most unexpected, not that Jem was a prude or against PDA's. Although it was becoming apparent that the recipient hadn't expected it and Jem was in no hurry to move just yet. She couldn't help but be a bit of a gossip and convinced herself that by staying a little longer she could intervene if necessary. " Well things just got a little interesting" she said in a hushed tone, living for the drama.

[SCPO Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - CSO's Office --> Promenade]Jovireh had spent the day with the Computer working on setting up a new system that would make it easier to wade through the never ending river of reports that came her way on a daily basis. It had taken a substantial amount of trial and error, but finally she had a working automated system. Her team would now transfer the reports the her rather than leaving a stack of PADDs on her desk, and the Computer would sort them by level of urgency. After sending out the memo with the changes effective at the start of the next day, Jov stood from her desk and stretched. Her body loudly protested the change in position, making it clear it was past time the Chief got out of her office for awhile. Rather than making use of the replicator as she had fallen into the new habit of doing, she decided to go to the Promenade for a meal and change of scenery. And hopefully a conversation with someone other than the Computer. It was a long turbolift ride, which she spent the majority of working out the kinks in her back and neck. The door opened at her destination, and she started to make her way towards the Blue Beta, stopping when she saw Kova watching something with an expression of slight amusement. "Did I miss a show?" she asked curiously, stopping beside the Andorian woman and following her gaze to the Beta.

The interesting thing had been listening to Ensign Ev'ewa berate the commanding officer of Caliburn, the latter having complained at the delays and said ensign quite rightly putting them in their place. There would likely be complaints made, complaints that would perhaps involve his own department, but for now he had to concede the fact that the whole thing was somewhat amusing! Monitoring his station, he read over the security drill for following day once again, that is until the earlier mentioned ensign had to say the 'Q' word. His groan was perhaps one of the loudest of them all, as he uttered a silent prayer for the Prophets to belay that little temptation of fate, but was soon silenced by the klingon's glare. He shrugged as her faux pas was explained by Commander Ellis, before being asked to go over the security drills for tomorrow. Here goes... "...and that about covers it", he ended his report. Other than extra security around the labs where the debris was being studied, it was pretty much just the usual run of the mill stuff. He scanned the console in front of him to make sure that he hadn't just recited yesterdays or something. That would have been embarrassing. Felicity Ellis and anyone in Ops

Worse yet, he'd not been asked to examine it, despite being a leading expert on... stuff and things. Surely, he thought, that was a great mistake, so he made his way to Ops to see it remedied. Her antennae had curled slightly as they sensed the woman's approach long before she had asked if she had missed anything. "Only a grand romantic gesture," Kova said. She watched as the woman returned to her upright position, though she didn't really seem taken away with her suitor's proclamation of love. Instead she seemed anxious... embarrassed even. "Or perhaps you're just in time for a tragedy."Kova continued to watch as the woman smoothed out her hair. She was whispering something. Her demeanor and reaction seemed to confirm Kova's observation. She sighed heavily, and shook her head, unable to take her eyes off the romantic trainwreck before her. [Blue Beta, Promenade]
Ken knew what had gotten into him; it was unbridled attraction for this dish before him in the Blue Beta. "I'd like to get into you," he responded to Karina's question, as he reached out to bring her closer once more. Their bodies were flush against each other when Karina began pushing him away.
"Stop it, Ken! This isn't the time or the place!"
"There'll never be a better time, Karina! We've wasted enough time dancing around our chemistry." He leaned in to trail his lips along the side of her exposed neck.
"The only dancing you've done is around my best friend!" And with that, Karina drew back her knee and then let it loose. Ken paused in his amorous ministrations and for one comical moment, he remained completely still, mouth agape. Then he dropped to the ground and doubled over, clutching his crotch.
[Promenade]
"I don't like the way you're looking at me!"
"Yeah, well, I don't like the way you look!"
"Someone call Security!"
"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!"
[Ensign Nork - Public Replimat, Promenade]
Still very much distracted by the strange encounter with the human outside, Nork walked into the Replimat and joined a short queue for one of the replicators. By the time he had reached the top of it, he had decided that it would be best to check himself into Sickbay for tests. His behaviour had not been regular, and the only real explanation could be that there was something physiologically compromised within him.
He took his tray containing a glass of room temperature water and a bowl of plomeek soup, and approached his favourite seat and table. He had chosen it two days following his arrival here on Front Ear and when it was vacant, he always sat there. Unfortunately for Nork - or rather, unfortunately for the individual sitting in his favourite chair - it was not vacant this day.
"That is my seat."
The unsuspecting Bajoran looked up at the intrusion, brow wrinkled in a frown. "This is a public replimat, friend. Seating is not allocated."
"That. Is. My. Seat." Nork slammed his tray on the table with each word, causing many of the other diners to look his way, a mixture of mild curiosity on some faces, and horror on others.
"There are plenty of other seats available." The Bajoran was keeping his cool, but he had pushed back his chair and was about to stand. That was when Nork reached out and wrapped his fingers around his neck.

[Felicity Ellis - Ops Centre]Once the Security Officer completed his rundown of the updates for the following day's drill, Felicity nodded. "Thank you, Lieutenant Rin. That was a lot less boring than I feared it might be."She stopped for a moment, surprising herself with her candour. She hadn't meant it to sound quite that honest. Sure, reports usually were mind-numbing, and sure, she tended to be quite relaxed with the crew, but had that been too familiar? She decided to ignore it and carry on like nothing had happened. Sir Dugris Zaman's entrance afforded her that very opportunity. Felicity placed down the PADD that the science team had delivered to her, and turned to face the El Aurian. "You always hope to intrude."Someone gasped. Felicity blinked, frowned, and then eyed the remainder of the coffee in her mug. She definitely hadn't intended to say that. She'd thought it, but she'd never say it. "My apologies, Sir Doug," she began, just as consoles began to light up all over Ops.
