[near Turbolifts- Fells Halgerdur]
Even though the person was only hinting, Fells had a feeling he knew what he was talking about. Being free was one thing. Living as an ex felon was another. It put a burden on his family, which he was responsible for. Fells simply hadn't expected to move somewhere new and instantly be faced with this problem. His gaze darkened. "I don't even know my neighbors yet.....what do you want from me. Just leave me alone! If you know who I am, you probably know what I'm capable off..."As much as he felt intimidated, he wasn't going to simply give in.

[ NPC - Lt. George Hugo - Intelligence Office] The commander’s right, George said with a nod of respect in Judy’s direction. I don’t think a homemade device would have been that precise, well, he added modestly. It would depend on who was making the homemade device.
But no, the precision was pretty spot on. The security panel was hit without damaging any of the surrounding circuitry, and the system is recoverable. Finding a specific device might be difficult. We could go back and see if there’s some kind of energy signature. Cargo manifests might be helpful, too, though it’s not likely someone would have an EM gun listed on their manifest. There aren’t many legitimate reasons to have one other than for some security and engineering applications. When Judy went on to ask about the new computer specialist, he snapped his fingers. Yes. He remembered that she was Trill; names took him longer. =/\= Hugo to Crewman Som, please report to the Intelligence Office for a special assignment. =/\= Judith Eastman Matthew Harmon Kaya Som
[ Imahl Shahal - Promenade] It would be Mr. Imahl, actually. But please, feel free to call me Shahal. He offered a friendly smile as the other man left them. Imahl waited until Fells was well out of earshot before speaking again. Ms. Mazal, I’m sorry to see that you became a victim of these heinous crimes. And really, by far the worst hit so far. Someone came through and scratched up the glass on my doors a couple days ago, and others have been tagged with graffiti or had shoplifters.
The reason I wanted to speak to you is that some of us are a little concerned that security doesn’t seem to have been able to catch anyone. There’s been a group of affected business owners meeting the last few nights, and, well, I wondered if you might be interested in joining us. Thea Baker

[Cr. Kaya Som - Intelligence Office ]=/\= Coming, sir. =/\= Kaya Som hastily shoved the take-away noodles into the replicator reclamation port and set her uniform in order even as she hustled out of the alcove where she'd been ostensibly working on routine repairs to environmental controls. On her way, she spared little wave to a Bolian civvie she'd had a bit of fun with last night. In a few minutes, she was smoothing her uniform before she let herself into the intelligence office. It was a surprisingly small space and she held her hands behind her back to take up as little space as possible. But when she saw who else was in the room, her eyebrows shot up. It was the who's who of senior staff. Lieutenant Hugo was there with Commander Eastman and an officer in intel grey she hadn't met yet (Harmon). "You lot break something?" Then in an attempt to spruce herself up for command, she added to Lieutenant Hugo, "sir." Matthew Harmon Ozu Saya Judith Eastman

[NPC - Kova Sh'qaleq - Promenade] Last night had not been the best of nights, that much was evident from the fraction of winnings she had walked away with as well as the pounding headache accompanying it. There were two questions plaguing Kova's mind right now: How much she had drank? and How much she had lost? She certainly didn't care to know the answer to either right now. As she moved along the promenade, she was certain that illumination had increased by 20%. Probably yet another reformation put in place after Parsnips departure. Still, there seemed to be a bit of excitement brewing as people along the promenade appeared to have casually gained interest of a sight. Kova continued to move along, but it didn't take long for her eyes to fall upon what was of interest. There were quite a number of Starfleet officers parading around the Blue Beta Bar. At first glance there didn't appear to be any teal uniforms, which suggested that it wasn't anything as bad as a murder or an assault. Perhaps it was a break-in... and if so a sloppy one at that. Whomever was responsible was either sloppy or wanted this to be noticed. A quick glance around the rest of the promenade suggested that the Blue Beta Bar appeared to be the only target. A sigh left the Andorian's lips. Perhaps it was a point of professional pride, but the job could have been done with much more finesse. Kova could have easily written a program to disable the security protocols. Personally, she would have used an EM pulse to disable the sensors, and then used the program she had written to disable the fail-safe protocols, which would have activated the moment there was any sort of breach or disruption of the bar's security system. Either way, there wouldn't be such a fiasco on display such as this. Kova checked her chronometer. How long would it be before someone from Security decided to bring her in for questioning. As if anyone with a record was responsible for every crime on this bucket of bolts. Her eyes only casually caught a glimpse of someone new to the party. A pink-skin heading towards the turbolifts. "And who are you?" Kova mused to herself. New faces always made things more interesting around here. She turned her attention back to the front of the bar, curious if anything else of interest would reveal itself.

Glad that Sven wasn't going to bleed to death any time soon, Rio grabbed hold of the woman, then braced for transport, something she wasn't fond of -- the thought of having her ions scattered through air was disconcerting, even if it was 'safe'. And Sven was right, the report on 'Bright Light' Garrett was no surprise, and she had to wonder if she knew what Mercer was up to, was involved, or just an 'innocent' bystander. Then Sven asked her to take down Mercer's force field and she shook her head. "Really? That's so much paperwork, not to mention the clean-up." Sighing, she walked toward the panel. "Just promise you won't be so messy this time, all right?"

Mercer lost all of his composure and a look of terror spread across his face. "Okay, okay. I'll talk. But not to you." he pointed a finger at the bodybuilder. "I'll talk to her." he pointed to Rio. Sven had done his job and intimidation worked. A bit too well. Mercer felt more comfortable talking with Rio. Hildi scoffed from the other cell "Oh, you're a brave one ain't 'cha?" she laughed and leaned against the threshold careful not to touch force field. Sven shrugged. "You're up. But do be gentile." he said to Rio, then turned and tapped his head looking at and addressing Mercer, "the last person she interrogated... Well, he went a bit funny in the head. Was never the same after the good ensign was done with him." he walked around the security station, pulled out a chair then put his feet up on the console. Rio Sosa | Main Brig, detention Cells | NPC MercerRio grinned as she stepped toward the cell. He bought that one, didn't he?" There was a confident swagger to her step, even though this was her first real interrogation...those were usually left up to the officers. She pulled up a stool and settled just outside the force field. "So, Mr. Mercer, what do you have to say?"For a moment the man looked at her skeptically, then finally started talking. At first, it was small-talk, about his job and the voluptuous Ms Garrett, and how she didn't know anything about anything, a fact that Rio wasn't about to dispute! Then he finally got down to business. "Look, Ma'am, I didn't mean nothin', was just looking for some extra money ta treat my gal there." He nodded to the other cell. "I know it don't seem it, but she's really somethin'.""Oh, I bet." It was all Rio could do not to roll her eyes. "So, what did you do for the lovely Ms. Garrett?""I got this message...don't know who from, but it was a lotta money ta do a job. Didn't seem like nothin'.""Well, apparently it was, or we wouldn't be here, right?" Rio smiled sweetly. "So, you just agreed to do a job for...someone? You got a way to prove that you aren't 'someone'?" Leaning forward, she raised an eyebrow. "What's that mean?" The man's eyes widened. "Wasn't me! I swear, someone hired me, I got proof...in my room.""That so?" Rio glanced at Sven and shrugged. "It's up to the nice man there if he'll let you go back to your room..."Sven Aune

Harmon nodded at Eastman as she mused what he had said. He had forgotten her background was in engineering. "I agree, it's not likely to be listed on a cargo manifest. But, if we go through incoming traffic and cargo within the past say week we might find something, though that would take some time." It would be a large undertaking but the computer could help quickly analyse security footage and narrow down potential suspect cargo, but without knowing what, or who they were looking for that could prove difficult. "Seeing if we can pick something up from the energy signiture looks like our best option for now, while we wait for the security footage," he said. Harmon was sceptical of including a new crewman in this. Normally she would lack the clearance to even step foot in this office. However, in the absence of any other qualified officers and given he had no reason to doubt her personally, he stayed quiet. "I'm not sure you have the clearance to know when we break things," he was joking, or at least attempting too, but his deadpan tone and expression would make it difficult to tell. He paused for a while before explaining why she was here. "There's been a break in on the Promenade, we have a memory chip but its been wiped, we need to retrieve the footage from it. Are you up for that?"

[Promenade- Fells Halgerdur] He heard the other business owner with the strong accent before he turned to see him. But the man certainly caught his interest. Why did he want to speak to Lea and why did she not ask to postpone the talk? Fells didn't want to go ahead but Leas words told him that she wanted to speak to the man alone. Hesitating he eyed him with a bit of suspicion, which was a newly acquired character trait. Then he gave Lea a concerned look. "If you wish....just don't be too long. I'll wait at the turbolift." Once again he looked at the Bajoran and then left. Walking free among other people was something he wasn't used to anymore. It felt strange but soon his frown changed to friendlier nods when someone passed him. Once he reached the turbolifts he decided to wait.
Thea Baker [ Leanna - Promenade] Lea didn't need her abilities or their shared link, to know that Fells was reluctant to leave her, even before he showed concern and told her not to be long at that he would wait at the lifts. She wasn't going to argue with that and would definitely make it up to him, once they reunited. The Betazoid conveyed that to her Boyfriend, before her attention was back on the Bajoran Toy Shop Owner. Immediately cursing herself internally over the faux pas with getting his name the wrong way round and decided that it must of been brain fog, brought on by everything that had happened that day. Although was glad that he hadn't took insult over the mistake, as he told her to call him Shahal. "My apologises, Shahal and please call me Leanna" she replied, as Shahal then offered his apologies over what had happened at the Blue Beta and how it had been the worst hit, as opposed to what damage had been done, to his store and other businesses. Lea was aware of that and thought that it was terrible at how they had been affected. Of course when it came to her own business, she had never thought that it would get broken into, thanks to the security measures put in place, but at the same time, it acted as a reminder, that they weren't infallible. When Shahal then got into the real reason why he had wanted to talk to her, Lea listened, understanding the concern regarding Security and the lack of arrests. However given what she had experienced so far, it probably wasn't for the lack of trying and perhaps with this latest development, they would be more successful. One could hope as he asked if she would be interesting in joining the others in these meetings that they had been having. In the interests of getting to know her fellow business owners and showing cooperation in this testing time, Lea didn't think it would hurt to do so and hear their experiences and views for herself. " Thank you and I'm sorry about what has happened to you and the other businesses, I understand your concerns and as for your invitation to join in with the meetings, consider me there, just let me know, when the next one is".

Tag: Judith Eastman Ozu Saya Kaya Som [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Intelligence Offices]Judy happened to recognize the crewman. Kaya Som had been a student in a class she taught at Starfleet tech, a couple of years back. Since she considered that the Federation owed its continued existence to the enlisted crews of Starfleet, she made a tradition of teaching the next generation of these during her time in the Sol system. "Why, hello there," she acknowledged the young woman warmly. "I thought I saw a familiar name hidden in my paperwork. It's good to see you again. Ensign Hudson back there is working on the memory chip, if you can lend her a hand."She then proceeded to think about other possible paths they could take. "I wonder if we've had any EM guns, or EM gun parts, stolen from our stores recently. We shouldn't have too many, so I assume we have records on them all," she told Hugo and Harmon. "If the energy signatures match, which we can go ahead and check from the internal sensor logs, we can try to track those down."Granted, if the EM gun had been stolen during Parsinp's tenure, then good luck to them with finding out when and where.

[near turbolifts- Fells Halgerdur]
The words were unexpected to say the least. These mysterious folks wanted him to do something for them using his expertise....which probably meant, his knowledge of the security protocols and systems of the Fleet.
Fells was instantly torn into a million directions: From fight to flight to curiosity and a bit of fear. He certainly didn't want to engage in any illegal activities. But he also didn't want his family's new start to be jaded. His guts told him to tell the creature to piss off...but if he was a Ferengi, as suspected, that might be a problem.
Fells watched him motion to the turbolift.
With a deep frown he looked back at the promenade to see whether Lea was coming but she wasn't anywhere in sight, so he stepped into the turbolift. "You have 5 minutes to convince me." As the doors closed behind them, Fells stood close to the corner, that was the furthest away from the doors and control panel, because the security camera was pointed that way. Then his hand shot out to uncover the creatures head and wrap around his throat in one swift move. "You don't threaten me, neither you, nor your circle of friends. My reputation is already shot, so what do I care what you tell my neighbors. When these doors open, you take your illegal proposal and run as fast as those short legs allow you to."

[turbo lift - Fells] Fells was startled by the sudden call for help because he hadn't expected a black mailer to call for security. This was bad...real bad. If he got charged with anything, he'd be rotting in a cell for much longer. Had he just broken his promise to Lea by letting his impulsiveness take over?
Damn. He had made one hell of a bad call. He should have simply said 'no'. But how to right this?
So he did his own little show of "Security! The Ferengi ...he's crazy!"in case security would really respond to the call. He instantly let go of the man and pressed his back in the corner as if he was scared of him. Very audibly he said. "Fatax, you're lying scumbag. I have no idea what game you're trying to play by getting me in trouble..."

Was he serious? Could she hack into a memory chip? "Psh," Kaya said, making a happy little noise under her breath. She nodded in the affirmative and rocked back on her heels, well pleased she'd been called down for something interesting not a leaky replicator or something like that. A little bit of recognition was nice on a big ship like the Mac. "Aye, aye. Good to see you too, commander," Kaya replied. She lifted her chin to Lieutenant Hugo and got a move on. [Crm. Kaya Som - second room, Intelligence office] "Hey," Kaya greeted the ensign at the panel and leaned over her shoulder. "Kaya Som." Hudson had the memory chip docked and was working on decompiling what was left of the shredded data. "Someone's done a job on that," she remarked. "Hit it with a shovel. That's good news, really. Not really a precision instrument." Not literally a shovel, of course. But some kind of electro magnetic disruption or other external source had wiped the chip, at least that's what Kaya figured at first glance. If someone had actually accessed the chip internally, the wipe would be cleaner. Then in a lower voice Kaya asked Hudson, "who got broken into, then? Why's Intel and Eastman on this?" But, if we go through incoming traffic and cargo within the past say week we might find something, though that would take some time." It would be a large undertaking but the computer could help quickly analyse security footage and narrow down potential suspect cargo, but without knowing what, or who they were looking for that could prove difficult.
Tag: Judith Eastman Ozu Saya Kaya Som [ NPC - Lt.
Yes. I’ll call her in.George stared up at the ceiling for a moment as he dredged up the name. He remembered that she was Trill; names took him longer. =/\= Hugo to Crewman Som, please report to the Intelligence Office for a special assignment. =/\= Judith Eastman Matthew Harmon Kaya Som [Cr. "You lot break something?" Then in an attempt to spruce herself up for command, she added to Lieutenant Hugo, "sir." Matthew Harmon Ozu Saya Judith Eastman [Intelligence Office]

Tag Ozu Saya Kaya Som Matthew Harmon [NPC - Lt. George Hugo - Intelligence Office] George offered the young engineer a brief nod in return before she went through to the other area, but didn't feel the need to add anything to Judy or Harmon's orders. He waited until she'd gone through before he glanced down at his personal PADD and tapped the screen a few times. Sensor logs, George stated. I can work my way through these if you want to start checking station inventory logs, Lieutenant. It's possible the device was taken from security or engineering and returned, but we could also be missing one. At least it's something we can probably cross off the list of posibilities.

[near turbolifts- Fells Halgerdur] The words were unexpected to say the least. "You have 5 minutes to convince me."As the doors closed behind them, Fells stood close to the corner, that was the furthest away from the doors and control panel, because the security camera was pointed that way. Then his hand shot out to uncover the creatures head and wrap around his throat in one swift move. "You don't threaten me, neither you, nor your circle of friends. My reputation is already shot, so what do I care what you tell my neighbors. When these doors open, you take your illegal proposal and run as fast as those short legs allow you to." [NPC - Unknown Fatax - Turbolift]The figure, now revealed as he was, squealed and croaked as he was grabbed, before the cogs raced in his brain. He didn't kick or flail, but instead relied on voice activation. =A= "Security! I'm being assaulted by Fells Halgerdur! My name is Fatax!" =A= He howled, somewhere between a screech and a croak. =A= "Help! Help! Help!" =A= While he continued screeching, Fatax smirked at his assailant. The station's sensors could confirm a lot, even if the cameras couldn't.
Tag Fells Halgerdur Security ( Ozu Saya ) [turbo lift - Fells] Fells was startled by the sudden call for help because he hadn't expected a black mailer to call for security.
I have no idea what game you're trying to play by getting me in trouble..."[NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar --> Brig] Ryah was still examining Lea's office when the emergency security call came through. She received any such summons so that she was aware of what was going on, but didn't always respond. Given her recent conversation with Fells, however, Ryah decided she'd best handle this one herself. =/\= On my way, =/\= she said. Computer, location of Fells Halgerdur?Fells Halgerdur is in turbolilft 2.She spun to Seamus. When the forensic team is finished, you can start cleaning up.Ryah ran, streaking through the promenade toward the turbolift. The door swooshed open, revealing Fells backed into a corner facing off with a Ferengi who was close to her height. Gentlemen, Ryah said in a dangerous voice, stepping into the lift and resting her left hand on the phaser holstered at her hip. Computer, Brig. Skip all stops, security override Sigma Epsilon Chi 1317.The 'lift started moving and Ryah turned her attention to the two men in the tube with her. Mr. Halgerdur, I distinctly recall telling you a very short time ago not to test my tolerance. This is not good.
Neither of you speak until we get to the brig, then we'll sort this out.

[Turbolift to brig- Fells] He felt an unpleasant jolt of adrenaline when no other but Ryah entered the lift and instantly directed them to the Brig. No other word could scare an ex-con more. Now he was really scolding himself for being so reckless. "I didn't...." He didn't get further when she warned them not to speak.
He lifted his hands in defense.
Instantly Fells had to think about Lea. She had no idea where he was or what had happened and would certainly hate him for this.
Pinching the bridge of his nose he waited for the turbo lift to arrive and the stepped outside into the cool but stale air of the Brig.
