[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - First Officer's quarters, Front Ear Station (yesterday, evening)]As she waited for Max to finish showering, Judy sat up in their bed and took the moment to record her log. She'd come to find the task rather therapeutic, a way to gather her various thoughts. "First Officer's log," she dictated. "The past week, like the whole of this past month, has been challenging. While crew efficiency has shown improvement, with a more efficient roster and clear delineation of tasks, we still have much lost ground to recover. Months of deferred maintenance on various systems, health and safety inspections on restaurants that just didn't happen, and every failing in between, have created a severe backlog that we're still working through. With some exceptions, the crew has been diligent and dedicated, and the credit for the work we've completed thus far goes to them all for that."As the two corgis, Bridge and Tunnel, claimed the center of the bed, Judy turned to another matter in her log. "A more acute concern is the latest monthly crime report, which I received this morning. There has, apparently, been a significant rise in the crime rate - primarily petty crimes, like graffiti and pickpocketing, but more distressing crimes as well. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is a phantom increase, a result of under-reporting and poor enforcement under Commander Parsinp, but I take no comfort in that possibility. While a true rise in the crime rate indicates new criminals taking root on our station, a phantom rise speaks to a rather more entrenched criminal problem; neither scenario is good, and neither one can, or will, be allowed to stand. Captain Ellis is away, providing assistance to the colonists on Kerelia, and I intend to return the station to her less crime-ridden than it was when she left."Tunnel reached up, tugging on the sleeve of Judy's Tholian silk nightgown, and the officer gently nudged away the somewhat overweight dog as she finished her log. "On a more personal note, I've placed a curfew on my daughter, Anna, who took it about as well as one would imagine, and I've taken to carrying my phaser pistol in my purse. One can never be too re..."Judy was interrupted by Tunnel licking her face. "Computer, delete everything after the word 'purse', then resume recording," she instructed. "One can never be too careful. Tomorrow, I will hold a meeting with some of our personnel about how we can fight the crime problem, and I have high hopes for it. This crew has cleaned up the most spectacular mess I've seen in my career, so I firmly believe they can do this too."
"End log."With both hands, she took to gently squeezing the offending corgi. "You don't disrupt mommy when she's recording her log. No, you don't. It's not allowed, no," she cooed at the canine. "Only the grandbabies can do that." [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Briefing Room 1, Deck 3, Front Ear Station (present time)]Judy glanced down at her silver wristwatch, reading the analog timepiece's hands. It was 10, the scheduled meeting start time, and the room was quite full by now. The meeting was about the crime wave, and the attendee list was skewed towards security (though there were others as well). The room itself was an elongated rectangle, accommodating a large conference table, on which Judy had placed a plate with homemade, cut chocolate Rugelach, a traditional Jewish baked good. She'd made a tradition of bringing a homemade treat of some kind to every meeting, as a fine use of her and Max's culinary talents. She sat down at the head of the conference table. "Good morning," she greeted the room. "For those of you I haven't met yet, I'm Commander Judy Eastman, the first officer, and the Rugelach on the table are for you. I take it you've all had the chance to read our monthly crime report?"

[ Leanna - Landing Bay B, Front Ear] A very pregnant Leanna could be found stood looking out at the landing pad as she waited for the transport carrying her beloved and much missed boyfriend, to arrive. Six months of not seeing him properly other than limited visits at the penal colony had certainly taken its toll on them all, but now the time was finally here for him to join them and start their new life together. The last month on the station had mainly involved, getting the bar up and running, organising their quarters, spending time primarily with Ari, Flick, Brooke and Greg. Lea had appreciated that time with her daughter and friends, glad to have them near as she still had moments were she missed Fells a lot, especially as her last visit to the colony had been two weeks before leaving for their new home. Not that she had to worry about that now and she couldn't wait for him to hold her properly and just have him close again. No doubt he would be surprised at how much bigger she had gotten, but at least he wasn't going to miss any more of her pregnancy, even more so now that she only had 8 weeks left. In fact he wouldn't be able not to notice, thanks to her choice of clothing these days, which often involved a loose fitting dress, this one in her favourite shade of purple, strapless and very comfortable. For now it was just her, wanting to greet Fells as she had a proper celebration planned for later, with Ari, as she had wanted to surprise their daughter and she looked forward to that and showing Fells the bar and the station itself. Getting to her feet, Lea then began to pace the floor, more to keep moving then anything else and hoped that the ship would land soon.

[Landing Bay B, Front Ear-Fells]
Six months are a long time when you reside in a penal colony. Hardship and unpleasantness were a given. Missing your loved ones as hard as it gets. But knowing that his sentence was limited to only six months had helped Fells keep his hopes and mood up.
Occassionally fellow inmates had destroyed this but all in all Fells was simply glad to be out of there and soon reunited with his pregnant girl friend.
The whole stunt also had one big upside. He wouldn't have to be worried about getting caught anymore. He was free and they could start over. How? He didn't know but he was getting giddy when the ship announced that they'd be docking soon.
Fells had changed visibly. He was thinner but still muscular. Prison food wasn't his favourite. His hair had grown, so had his beard because there was no need forca tidy appearance since he was no longer a security officer. All of the wounds had been fixed but the Penal Colony was no play pen. The Icelander had to toughen up in order not to become a toy.
Right now none of that mattered as he stepped off the ramp and sat foot on his future home base.
Lea was hard to miss with her larger than life belly and smile. He crossed the platform with long strides and scooped her up for a brief moment, the kissed her passionately.

[Briefing room 1, Deck 3]Sitting at the table with the others at the briefing, Rio eyed the treats, and as soon as leave was given to help themselves, she grabbed one, taking a bite as she listened to the others talk about the crime situation on the station. The goodies were yummy, and she only wished she had some espresso to go with it, a perfect pairing with the rich dessert. Of course, she knew about the petty stuff going on around the station, she'd been dealing with it on duty, and it was getting to be annoying and time consuming, and when there was a brief lull in the comments, she spoke up. "I'd suggest keeping the appearance that Security is still incompetent," she commented, "if we come on strong, it's liable to send the problem children underground, then we'll never find out who's causing the problems." She shrugged, speaking some from experience. "Keep an eye on them, maybe even let some of the petty stuff go for a while, then come in and do a sweep."Certainly, if they cracked down and arrested one, the others would go into hiding, and sure, the problem might be solved on the short term, but the parasites were still there. Harmon entered the room somewhat late, just after the Commander had entered. Before taking his seat, he took one of the pastry looking things moving to find a seat as distant as he could. It tasted better than he expected, chocolate was one of his favourite foods, after all.
He appeared largely inattentive as the Commander and then security began to talk. It wasn't really out of any sort of disdain or disrespect towards them as individuals, but rather his disdain for this posting. He was however, paying more attention than he looked, the talk of illicit goods made him ponder if there was anyone selling Romulan Ale. Harmon's supply of the contraband was quickly diminishing. "Half my department have qualifications in security programming," he said with a blasé tone. Of course, 'half' of his department meant one person, and she was an Ensign fresh out of the academy. Nevertheless, she seemed competent and was certainly keen and energetic to get some responsibility and prove herself. Rather the opposite of Harmon. "My department could provide some support...its not like we're equipped to do much else at the moment."

[ Leanna - Landing Bay B, Front Ear] The moment that the transport ship appeared, Lea's heart began to race with excitement at the thought of how close she was to finally seeing Fells again, after so long apart. As the ramp lowered, Lea was already moving towards the bay entrance, along with those who were also waiting and as she reached the cut off point, she stood so he would be able to see her. Then as that moment came and she saw him, her heart quickened more as she took in his appearance, noticing how long his hair and beard had gotten but that didn't matter as he was still as handsome as ever. Moving forward to greet him as he crossed the platform, Lea's happiness at seeing him was evident, before he scooped her up briefly, then kissed her passionately. Sharing all of her emotions as she responded to him, making it deep and meaningful and not wanting to let him go. However when they did pull apart, Lea couldn't stop smiling as she reached out to take hold of his hand. " I'm so happy to see you, I've got lots to tell you, but first how about a drink and something to eat at the bar?, I can't wait to show you it" she said happily as she leaned in for another brief kiss. This was the moment that she had been dreaming about for months and now that it was happening, she felt whole again. Although the moment was soured slightly as her personal communication device went off. =BB= Lea, its Seamus, sorry to interrupt but you need to get to the bar asap, I'll explain more when you get here =BB= The call was certainly unexpected but knew he wouldn't of contacted her if wasn't serious. =BB= Okay Shay, we'll be there as soon as we can =BB= Closing the channel, Lea turned to Fells with an apologetic look on her face. " Sorry Babe, I'll make this up to you later, but are you okay to come with me to see what's going on?".
tag Fells Halgerdur ******** [ Seamus - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] Now that Lea had been notified, Seamus looked around at the damage caused by the break in, aware not to touch or move anything until the experts had been in to check it over. Although the bar manager, had ensured that no one came in, unless it was staff and apologised to those who would normally visit the bar once it had opened. Offering a drinks voucher as he then used the comm to contact Security. =BB= This is Seamus Flanagan, from the Blue Beta Bar and Grill, requesting Security as it looks as though we've had some kind of break in, there's some substantial damage and unsure at the moment, if anything has been taken =BB= With the call made, all the Irishman could do was wait for a response.

[Landing Bay B, Front Ear-Fells Halgerdur] It was so incredibly good to hold her again after being locked up with males of different species only. He had seen here on the screen and even some times in person but only kissed her once. So he closed his eyes and let this kiss last and linger until her comm went off. Inwardly Fells rolled his eyes but what could he do. This was reality and one that she was the boss off and had to take care of just like she had when he was gone. "No, go ahead, I don't mind. I'll come to your bar with you."But first he held her back and hugged her with a bit of effort thanks to her large belly. "He's grown so much! You look fantastic, Lea!"Another kissed followed before he waved his hand towards the direction where everyone else was going. "Now, lead the way..."

For all her years of service, degrees, and decorations, she knew her job was to facilitate them. She even took notes, using another physical notebook. "First of all, thank you all for your perspectives. We might not roll with all your ideas, but that doesn't mean any ideas were bad," she prefaced her words, giving a little smile to all of them. "I'd say presenting the facade of incompetence, while it could help us entrap the criminals, presents a whole different problem: we need our civilians to feel secure, and to know we care for them, so they'll stay here and keep this community thriving. If we let them feel that we're still neglecting them, our civilian population will shrink to just my daughter."The little infusion of humor, Judy felt, was necessary, to soften the blow. "That being said, Ms. Sosa, you have a point. These criminals are wily, and evidently have access deep into our system, so if we shoot, we'd best not miss. We'll need to overpower and outsmart them, and we'll need to use a lot of resources for that. Mr. Harmon, I'd like as much of your department's resources as you can give."Judy was about to hand it off to the Chief of Security, to let her process everything down from the First Officer's high-level directives towards the ground level, when they were disrupted by a call. =BB= This is Seamus Flanagan, from the Blue Beta Bar and Grill, requesting Security as it looks as though we've had some kind of break in, there's some substantial damage and unsure at the moment, if anything has been taken =BB= "Well, speak of the devil and he shall appear," she remarked. "I have also instructed my unit to work in pairs and begin routine sweeps along the Promenade as well as cargo storage areas. I've asked a number of engineering personnel to compile a list of potential "hidey holes" in the station where illicit goods, and activities might be happening."
Sven paused for a minute. "I've also started talking to business owners and establishing our presence with them. To foster goodwill and trust. I feel like those things were lacking under the previous commander's command."

Judith Eastman Ozu Saya Sven Aune Rio Sosa [ SCPO Melihn Ryah - Briefing Room 1, Deck 3, Front Ear] Security Chief Melihn tapped her fingers rapidly on her PADD on the conference table in front of her. She had, indeed, read the crime report, and had been doing her best to bring things under control since arriving at the station. But it was an uphill battle. Ryah reached forward and snagged one of the pastries with an impish smile. She loved meetings with the first officer; she never ate this well on her own. She had adopted the practice of bringing treats to her security meetings, but she'd pick something up from one of the shops on the promenade. At the commander's question, Ryah finished chewing her first bite of Rugelach and sighed expansively. She hated that there was still far more crime going on than should be. It was impossible to stamp out everything, but there seemed to have been an uptick in the last few weeks. She set her pastry on a napkin and stood, not that it made a great deal of difference at 5-foot-nothing. Okay, that was a little generous; she was not quite 5 feet. It made her feel better to stand when she had to address a crowd. The crime report for this month is...rough, to say the least. I appreciate Commander Eastman coming in on this one. Security's been working 'round the clock to handle not only the normal day-to-day of keeping peace on the station, but all of the leftover issues from the previous administration. What I'd like to discuss is some new strategies to implement over the next few weeks - increasing patrols and investigations, for example - and I'd like some input on other ideas. Many of you spend much more time among the people we're here to protect than I'm able to, so I trust that you'll all have some suggestions.| Briefing room 1, Deck 3 || lt. Sven Aune |The large man sat at the table. As much as he loved Max's cooking, especially his Rugelach, he was training for a competition and that meant an extremely strict diet. And he was lamenting that today was not his cheat day. Commander Eastman had opened the meeting with the crime report, and it was upsetting. Organized crime on this station would not be a good thing and it was personally something he wouldn't tolerate. If it was just petty theft, then that was something else. He took a glass and filled it with water from the pitcher laid out on the table. Chief Petty officer had called for a think tank. "I've begun investigations into the actual reporting itself. Judith Eastman Ozu Saya Sven Aune Rio Sosa [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Briefing Room 1, Deck 3, Front Ear Station]Judy sat and listened, aware that she was perhaps the least astute person here in security affairs. =BB= This is Seamus Flanagan, from the Blue Beta Bar and Grill, requesting Security as it looks as though we've had some kind of break in, there's some substantial damage and unsure at the moment, if anything has been taken =BB= [ Senior Chief Melihn Ryah - Briefing Room 1, Deck 3, Front Ear] Ryah took notes on her PADD as her people made their suggestions, nodding occasionally at a few of the ideas. I'll head there myself shortly, but a couple of officers will be there immediately. I'll take your ideas under advisement. For now, we'll increase patrols and keep our presence very visible around the station.
Before I join you, Commander, Lieutenant Harmon, I'd like to further discuss Mr. Harmon's assistance. Or if the two of you would care to join me, we can walk and talk. She looked between the two officers with raised eyebrows.

"Now, lead the way..." [ Leanna - Landing Bay B, Front Ear] " Thank you, Baby" she replied, knowing it wasn't what either of them had anticipated, however was happy that he did want to join her to find out what was going on. Although when he held her back for a moment to hug her, the best he could whilst manoeuvring around her large bump, she smiled, not only at the comment he made but also the fact that she was in his arms again. Responding to his final kiss, before he gestured towards the entrance and asked her to lead the way. " I know this isn't the best situation for you to see the bar, but if Shay is calling in security, I dread to think what's happened" she admitted as she led them through security, before taking the more direct route to the promenade and the bar. Trying her best to keep her focus as she pointed out various things to her boyfriend, until they reached the bar and she spotted Seamus. [ Senior Chief Melihn Ryah - Briefing Room 1, Deck 3, Front Ear] =/\= This is Security Chief Melihn. I'll head there myself shortly, but a couple of officers will be there immediately. " Its good to see you both, especially you Fells, you're looking well .... I wish I didn't have to tell you this, but we've had a break in, there's a decent amount of damage and security are on their way".The news made Lea feel sick, wondering who would want to do such a thing, especially as they had only been open for five weeks. All of their hard work and now this and she wasn't sure how much more she could take. " Thanks for letting me know Shay, I know we won't let this stop us from continuing but lets hope that Security can find the culprit".

[Blue Beta bar - Fells Halgerdur] Passing through some security on their way to Leas new bar made Fells tense every time. It almost felt like they knew who he was and would try to find things to pin on him to lock him back up. He had to tell himself that he was just another guy now.
Instead he focussed on the station and what it had to offer. It wasn't as big as the one where they used to lice and everything here seemed a little smaller and older. From technology to constructions to interior design.
Instantly he saw the broken security glass on the front. Someone had cut a hole into it. So this was a planned break in.
Shays voice made him turn his head. The man was Leas right hand in business and he had treated Fells well after getting to know him, so he offered a smile and nodded. "Good to see you, too. I appreciated you helping Lea set everything up here."
Fells crossed his arms and looked around at the interior. None of it had been vandalised....The bar and machines behind it, however, were broken and bottles all over the floor. Then he noticed her shaky voice. "I'll help you fix this....look, already found a job for me.....did you do this just to get me working?" He tried to cheer her up.
Then he looked at Sheamus. "What were they after? Money? Special stock?"

| Briefing room 1 -> Blue Beta Bar and Grill || lt. Sven Aune| The chief petty officer worked to bring in ideas and was about to say something when a report for a break in occurred. Shortly after they were dismissed to investigate. Sven stood and nodded to the Chief and to the commander. He then looked at Rio and made a jerked his head to the door. Once outside he began to make his way through the station to the busy promenade. "How long have you been in Star Fleet?" he asked Rio as they walked. It wasn't long until they happened upon the crime scene. "Who's the owner?" he asked eyeing the damage that was done. Of course, the next question was, "What happened? Walk me through what you saw when you got here. Every detail."________________ Tags Rio Sosa Thea Baker

Senors and cameras were sort of basics, and would go a long way toward stopping the crime. It was a wonder, really, that the station was even still functional, between the previous admin's incompetence and lackadaisical protocols. "At least we're not chasing deadly ferns," she muttered with a chuckle as she fell in beside Aune, then he asked about her service and she shrugged. "About six years, but this is my first assignment that I hope to be permanent, I mean, more than a couple months. I think once we get a hand on things, it's going to be a great place!" As they stepped into the bar and grill, she stopped beside the Lieutenant and shook her head. Someone had had a good time here, and she had to wonder if it was strictly vandalism for the sake of 'fun' or if there had been a specific goal. Tags Sven Aune Thea Baker
