[NPC Brody Cooper - Landing Pad C]
To hear that she only came 4 times a year made him feel a little sad because for some reason he wished for a bit more of a connection between them. When she then explained that she had more supply runs to do for local businesses a small smile tugged on his lips until it got wiped off his face by the sudden appearance of a ...plant. "What the....?" He mouthed. "Wait , don't touch..." The thing was gone as quickly as it had appeared. In disbelieve he stared at the now empty spot and then at Costa. "Ferrets, plants....what the hell is this place?" He wasn't sure anymore that coming here had been a good idea. "You've been here before, haven't you? Is this normal?" He indicated air quotes with his index fingers before he grabbed his luggage again and marched ahead.
"Let's just find my quarters. Do you know where deck 14 , Room A36 is?"

[ Margaret "Peggy" Lynch - The Spudriq Potato Bar, Promenade, Front Ear] Peggy was plating up her new orders, not once looking up and determinedly ignoring the growing crowd and the queue. The Irish Roosters were crispy on the outside, and soft and fluffy on the inside, steam clawing up into the air as she moved them directly from oven to plate. The first underwent a transformation to become the Classic; the steamed broccoli, finely chopped tomatoes and then the Gruyere. She shoveled it back in the oven for just long enough for the aged cheese to melt, and then sprinkled a pinch of chives atop. Once she was happy with the end result, she began loading her vegetarian filling onto the next plate. In truth, most of the spuds on the menu were suitable for veggies, but Peggy was also vaguely aware that there were such things as vegans, who as far as she could tell, ate nothing derived from the animal kingdom. Then there were pescetarians, and people who ate chicken, but not beef. Not to mention all of the dietary restrictions from other species who frequented the station. So, to be safe, her veggie option was also suitable for almost all dietary restrictions. Apart from those who eschewed gluten. This definitely wasn't suitable for them. She spooned her salad mix of couscous, fresh chickpeas, softened and chopped avocado with a sprinkling of parsley and a squeeze of lemon juice for kick and binding. Had it been for herself, she might have added a little chopped chili, but Peggy wasn't one to presume. Then on a third, smaller plate, she placed a healthy portion of smooth and creamy mashed potato. Along with a generous amount of Irish butter, she'd mashed the spuds with some finely diced, softened carrot, and just a hint of kale. She didn't want the mash overpowered with the flavour; it would be easier for the little dote to eat, but she had wanted to include just a little of the other wholesome produce she had on-site. The lad's constitution would be all the better for it. Tray back in hand, she returned to the table and served. "Here ye all are now," she declared. Once everyone's plates were before them, she added a jug of cool water and a couple of glasses. "If ye need any tea or the like, just give us a shout."[NPCs - Max Williams & Anna Eastman Williams - The Spudriq Potato Bar]"He's improving the language before our very eyes, and we should fall in line," Max responded to Evekh's insistence. "They're taters. They definitely are."Anna was, as usual, vaguely unenthused, but relieved that this wasn't going to turn into a philosophical discussion over the future of language - it took two to tango, and her mother wasn't present. And then, the proprietor returned. "I wanted to say that this is a very unique business you have here," Max told her, clear professional admiration in his voice. "I'm a chef by training myself."But, of course, they had to be disrupted. "What the hell?" Anna asked. "What is this... Harvey?" Evekh's face screwed up for a moment while he thought about what his mother's words, then he turned to Peggy with a bright smile and said, Thank you!Saya gave Evekh a pleased nod when he peered at her sideways. Max, why don't you let me take him so you can eat. I know you probably had a lot of practice eating with a toddler in your lap, but you shouldn't have to anymore, she teased. Her head jerked up at the announcement and she looked torn as she stared down at her food, wondering if she should rush off right away. Kyo put a hand on her arm gently. Take a few minutes to eat. It doesn't sound like something directly related to engineering.Saya waffled but finally nodded and picked up her fork. She paused to raise her eyebrow at Anna. I really have no idea, but I suppose I'll find out later today.[NPCs - Max Williams & Anna Eastman Williams - The Spudriq Potato Bar]"He's improving the language before our very eyes, and we should fall in line," Max responded to Evekh's insistence. Well, much obliged, sir," Peggy said in response to the comment about her business, her cheeks warming a little and coming across a little a-fluster. She had put a lot of work into The Spudriq, and a lot of her heart and soul. Conor had promised to help, but in truth the useless lump had done next to nothing. She perked up again when he mentioned his training. "Don't suppose ye want a job, do ye?" She was only half messing. Peggy turned soft eyes on the little cherub when he thanked her. His precious smile was like a break in a cloudy sky. "Ye are very welcome, young man. [NPCs - Max Williams & Anna Eastman Williams - The Spudriq Potato Bar]With some reluctance, Max handed Evekh over. He wasn't nearly done handling youngsters, having 5 grandchildren and likely more to come, but he could take a break. Having had a late start on family life, he always had that immense appreciation for it all. He also had an appreciation for the comment, sincere or not, about taking a job. "I'd have to give it some thought, if you're hiring," he replied, playing it coy while at the same time being sincere. He still had his cookbooks to consider, and more importantly, his family. He expected Judy would be supportive, but they needed a plan to make it work for the family. Family that, as it were, was right there. "It's weird. How are you guys not as weirded out as I am by this thing? How can the plant move?" Anna asked, still hung up on the weird message. *** [NPC - Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman - Blue Beta -> Promenade]PooDoo came back to the remains of the muffin, content to gorge herself more. "You're going to be very stinky tonight, aren't you?" Doug told the little creature affectionately, as she went about the work. "I happen to set my own hours these days, as a freelancer, so off to the Arboretum we go!" he exclaimed, taking PooDoo in his arms - which provoked a little high-pitched scream from her - and then standing up. "I'm sure someone here would like to climb on the plants. Some of them are dangerous, but she's more dangerous.""Well, speak of the devil!" he exclaimed. "But how is it moving?" [Blue Beta] Harmon remained quiet, not having anything in particular to contribute nor particularly interested in the conversation about flora and fauna. That was until the mention of a moving plant piqued his curiosity, less out of genuine interest but more to continue his procrastinating. He took a large sip of his drink, downing what was left before putting the glass down on the bench at sanding up following Doug. "A dangerous moving plant?" he asked calmly with a raised eyebrow. He took a large sip of his drink, downing what was left before putting the glass down on the bench at sanding up following Doug. "A dangerous moving plant?" he asked calmly with a raised eyebrow. [ Leanna - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] The affection that Doug then showed PooDoo as the cat like creature returned to what was left of the muffin, was adorable to witness, before her new friend, told her that he now set his own hours, so would be able to take them to the arboretum. The thought of going momentarily certainly appealed to the Betazoid as it would be good, to get moving around again, before the pins and needles set in, with the baby, pressing on various nerves and such. Genuinely interested in what plants she would see, even if some were dangerous, until the call came through for all station residents to hear and Lea began to wonder, if this was such as good idea after all. When Doug then exclaimed about how it was moving, Lea didn't want to know, thinking that it might not be so friendly and if she wanted to come face to face with it or not. Even Matthew seemed to share her concern, when he also queried about the possible dangerous plant. " Just how dangerous is this Harvey and would it be better for us to stay here, until he's found?".Normally she would be keen to help, but not so much with being heavily pregnant, especially if there was some risk involved. [NPC - Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman - Blue Beta]Doug shrugged, still holding PooDoo in his hands. "I don't know how it's moving, but if it is indeed moving, we're no safer in one place than another. I can't imagine it's grown legs and learned to run," he answered. "In any case, PooDoo will protect us. She looks sweet, but she's fierce."Doug allowed PooDoo to climb onto his shoulder, and she did, enjoying the tall, commanding position from which to monitor the place. "You just have to stay away from any plant I tell you to, and you'll be fine. I know these species pretty well, and so does she."

[Command Center] Tom was not happ that Admiral Ellis was coming on board. It was natural, the woman the sentenced him the person that did not believe that he was innocent. He said that he was innocent but could not explain the evidence again. That was one of his goals, one of his motives. It was too coordinated to be a coincidence and someone planted the evidence there. The Question that he had is that who would want to do that and why? The man tempered flared as he was not looking forward to potentially his old boss. Seeing Felicity was a reminder enough but having Admiral Ellis on a situation like this was not exactly a great situation. Tom was ready to walk out of the job as this was not his problem. Having the Admiral showing up made the situation worse. [ Felicity Ellis - Command Center] Her eyes still locked on the Commander, she responded to her suggestion by imparting orders to her own people. =/\= "Lieutenant, accompany our counselor to Sickbay, make sure Dr. Baker checks her over thoroughly. Crewman Sosa, Crewman Stryker, I want you both on this Harvey situation. Coordinate with Operations and track this thing down before it tries to eat any more of my crew. Keep me informed. Ellis out." =/\= Still ignoring Parsinp for the moment, she turned to the Ensign who had been somewhat helpful. "I want that transporter log, Ensign. To my PADD, as soon as possible." She looked around at the other assembled rag-tag band, her stare drawn toward the hunched Lieutenant in the corner for a moment longer than the others. "The rest of you, filter reports of sightings of the plant to the Security team. Be their eyes until they can zero in on Harvey's location." Finally, she addressed their Commander. "Get it found. If the Admiral catches wind of this beforehand, she'll feed us to it. Excuse me."She stomped off the Command Deck, following the upset civilian toward the turbolift. "Jett! Hold up." Ignoring any grumblings or accusations, she kept at him. "Thomas Marion Jett!" She reached him, thankfully out of earshot of the others at that stage, and she began to speak. "Don't even start with me, Tom," her voice was beseeching, the throb in her temples worsening as her blood pressure soared. "You think I want her here? I found out literally half an hour ago that she was en route, and she wouldn't even give me an ETA. You know what she's like."The 'lift doors opened before them with their signature swoosh. She stepped inside, and then gestured impatiently for him to follow. "Come on. Let me get you your list before you go, and before I have to go and play nice for the almighty Admiral Ellis. Computer, Briefing Rooms. Deck 3."Jett walked to the Turbolift and stopped as she called him with all three names. The man stopped for a second as he waited for Captain Ellis to catch up to him. They were both in a semi-private area. He paused as his face showed signs that he was not comfortable. As she mentioned that she did not want her to be here. Jett faced reacted by looking up in the ceiling. His nonverbal gave the fact that he did not want to stay. He knew that probably if the Admiral got wind that he was on the same station there would probably be some hell to pay. Considering how the Station was run, how undisciplined and unprofessional they were. It was not her fault but he knew he Admiral and he knew that this was not up to her standards. His jaw tighten as he was trying to get a second and compose himself. He bit his lips as she did not want to start another argument. As she handed the list to him, he remained quiet and looked at her eyes. “I’ll look at them. Hopefully, there is a pattern here. I’ll let you know Captain” . Tom answered solemnly. He knew that there was a pattern here, and he was looking at something. He would recognize it when he saw the pattern. As she was about to leave he said softly “Also…Felicity. Don’t take this the wrong way. But, with the Admiral, Harvey and on the first day on the job in this station. You had a rough day. I have some Jameson, to share with you. But…don’t I still don’t like you” . Jett had a smirk in his face. As he held the PADD.

=/\= Commander Parsinp to all station residents, be on the alert. Harvey, our friendly neighborhood plant lifeform from Kerelia has been seen out and about today. Be sure you give him a wide berth if you come across him and contact the command center. Thank you. =/\= =/\= "Ellis to Lieutenant O'Leary. Please report." =/\= [ Lieutenant Niamh O'Leary - Locker Room, Deck 32] O'Leary stilled as she listened to the public safety announcement, her expression growing darker with each word. "Friendly!? Harvey!? Missus, yer mad as a wet cat!" She said loudly of Parsinp, though of course the woman would never hear her. It did make Niamh feel just a smidgen better, but she was still feeling extremely put out. She glanced over at the Security crewmen; Sosa and Stryker, to see if they had a better idea of what was going on on this station. Then the Captain's voice broke through, and O'Leary paused for a beat to ensure Riordan was still with them before answering in any sort of official capacity. =/\= "O'Leary here, Cap'n. Meself, Crewman Sosa and Crewman Stryker tracked the murder plant to the gym on Deck 32. Riordan managed to slip its spindly grasp, but not afore the thing beamed away, narrowly and dramatically escaping our wrath. Orders?" =/\= *** [Command Center] Jett was anxious as he stepped into the Command Station. He took a second and he looked at the area. Like a sponge, he took it all in, everything that he missed. In reality, he did miss being in the Command Area or Bridge, but that was a thing of the past. He knew this was a rarety of him. She said she was lying about him not seeing her. Which he could not help but to himself roll his eyes and chuckle at her statement. She was the daughter of the person that sent him to prison. The very same person that did not believe him when he said he was not guilty. She did not believe in his honor even as a warrior or that he bled and did his sacrifices for the Federation. Tom took a second and composed himself. There was a Commander that previously ignored him gave him a glare and opened her mouth. Jett just ignored the situation as he heard the Captain and headed in the main table in the Command Center. “Thank you Captain” ” Jett said as he composed himself for a second. He then looked at Felicity’blue eyes. He wondered if the situation was as blue as the skies and he had a second. As he looked at her for a second, he then focused and looked at the command station. Tom looked at the table and said “Captain Ellis, Commander….(he forgot her last name), I wanted to take a second so the Plant-like creature was resting until Cara”. Jett stopped a second and shrugged his shoulders like he did not know her last name. In reality, he did not know her name and for the moment it did not matter. It was his observations. Then Jett continued “The creature then transported when it was threatened. Which, is normal to have an escape plan…however, he retreated to the men’s locker room. The things that worried me is that Niahm, sorry Captain I don’t know her last name she was able to rescue her. Then the creature did a SECOND transport jump. “ Tom first laid the fact as he saw them in case there was a debate of them. Then he looked at Felicity and said with honesty “Captain, during the war we only have one emergency transport coordinate more than that was an impossibility. With two of them indicate that outside a..transporting ability of the plant which I never heard of. It means that it is being transported by either local or by an outside ship. The fact that is two means that Transwarp transport is off…which means either an outside ship or the crew is helping this plant figure to transport out. So if it was in the Station…our logs would detail it…unless it was done with a senor officer with clearance to delete it. So…A) It’s on the computer and he can track it easily which I doubt. So.. B. It’s one of Starfleet and someone with clearance deleted it. C) Outside Group or D) None of the above, most likely the plant can transport itself in short areas”. Tom mentioned honestly. He stood composed like a Starfleet Officer and said “I’m sorry Captain, I can’t suggest a motive at this time. However, it too much coordinated to be random. Tom said to Felicity. He made eye contact with her as he was anxious about the fact he could not help her more. His first closed as he was reading a map that was unknown to him. He looked at the computer and asked humbly “Captain Ellis, Permission to stay on Command Deck as an Observer. Until he figure out this ‘Harvey’ situation” Jett asked He did not buy the Commander’s explanation there was more going on. He was more concerned about the Captain. He knew she would not betray him. And he hoped she knew he would not betray her. As Jett finished he heard the message from Admiral Ellis. The man felt destroyed for a second as he heard the woman that destroyed his carrier. "Man...this is unreal. . The smiled for then looked at Felicity's blue eyes. "I'm sorry I missed the memo that this was a big joke. For a second...I thought we had a situation." He stood silent and said "Felicity...or rather Captain Ellis. I'm sure I should leave ASAP...I will prepare the Falcon" . The man headed and walked with the tubolift with a formal tone or hurt. [Command Center - Commander Priscilla Parsinp] Well, hell. This was just what they needed right now. Parsinp gestured for the comms officer on duty to open a channel. This is Commander Parsinp. You're cleared for landing pad... she paused for a moment. Landing pad A. A delegation will meet the admiral there. She turned back to Ellis, ignoring the civilian captain who appeared to be making himself at home. He wasn't her problem. Since you were already planning on dealing with the admiral, perhaps you should leave Harvey to me. Like I said, he's gone walkabout before. We just need to track him down.[ Felicity Ellis - Command Center] Felicity leaned her hip against the ensign's console as she listened to Jett's report. "Riordan," she supplied for him when he appeared uncertain as to the counselor's last name, and then, "O'Leary." Apart from that, she remained quiet and didn't interrupt again. She mulled over what he was saying, the frown on her forehead deepening slightly. She didn't think the situation was quite so convoluted as what the civilian captain was suggesting. The likelihood of Harvey having the ability to self-transport was... negligible. Even if Parsinp seemed to think that her "pet" had a mind and will of its own. The most likely explanation was that the Commander was negligent, her crew irresponsible, and all lacking any desire to perform to any sort of acceptable standard. But when he asked to remain, she agreed straight away. "Permission granted." She was about to request the transporter logs when her mother ruined her day, for the second time. Felicity, mulling over Antoinette Ellis' epic timing for a moment, took a second to parse what it was Parsinp was actually saying to her. She regarded the other woman, gradually recognising the subtle power-play for what it was. Everything was happening at once; she was vaguely aware of Jett throwing a temper tantrum and storming out, she knew she had to answer Parsinp and get prepared for the Admiral's arrival, and then there was O'Leary's bizarre report. Her eyes still locked on the Commander, she responded to her suggestion by imparting orders to her own people. Deck 3."[Command Center - Commander Priscilla Parsinp] Parsinp glared at the air in lieu of the cheeky Irishwoman who was calling Harvey a 'murder plant'. She waited for Captain Ellis to give her orders, then nodded subtly to the few crew members who glanced her way before turning to their consoles to start the Harvey search. The ensign wasn't a bad sort, but had let the laxity of the more experienced members of the crew affect his own behavior. Now, though, he had a chance to prove himself helpful to the incoming captain and maybe even this admiral, so he set himself to quickly pulling up transporter records... only to find that the entire day's logs had been deleted. He muttered a curse. He didn't have the knowhow to retrieve deleted logs. His eyes slid over to the corner where Lt. Banks was hunched, wondering if he should rat her out. This wasn't the first time she'd done this, had laughed about it a couple of times when she was a little drunk, but it was the first time Harvey had grabbed anyone. Banks had always been careful to make sure the plant was out of any high-traffic areas. Someone must have been really stupid to walk up to Harvey and stay still for long enough to be grabbed. Hatchett wavered and waffled and finally cleared his throat and spoke up, Commander? The transporter logs have been wiped.Parsinp muttered her own quiet curse, then raised her voice to address the room, Right. I don't know who's responsible for this, but stop it, now. Playing a prank is one thing, but deleting official station logs is quite another. Get Harvey back to my quarters immediately.Hatchett winced, but decided to keep his silence for the moment, at least about some things. =/\= Ensing Hatchett to Captain Ellis, I'm afraid the transporter logs have been deleted. We don't have anyone on this crew capable of restoring those, but if you have someone among your people... =/\= He trailed off, hoping the captain would have a recommendation.

[Spudriq Potato Bar - MCPO Ozu Saya, Domen Kyo, Domen Evekh] Saya began eating quickly, with small, neat bites, as close to shoveling food as she ever got. She was used to eating meals on the fly while working, and Kyo was used to reminding her, and even cajoling her sometimes, to eat regularly. She was in for a long rest of the day and likely wouldn't get another break for a meal, so it made sense to fortify now while she could. Evekh sat on her right knee with his mother holding him in place with one hand. They could have asked for a booster seat for him, but with how busy the place was, it didn't really seem necessary. He picked up his spoon and copied his mother, spooning mashed potatoes into his mouth quite happily, if a little more messily than Saya. He waved at Peggy as the woman left their table. I don't know about the others, Saya said between bites, But I've been in Starfleet long enough that there's not a great deal that surprises me anymore. I'm sure there's a logical explanation behind it.I'm used to weird by proxy, Kyo said with a chuckle as he broke into his own potato more slowly. Without looking away from her plate, Saya snuck her fork over to Kyo's and stole a bite of his potato, humming in appreciation as he swatted playfully at her hand.

[NPC Brody Cooper - Landing Pad C] To hear that she only came 4 times a year made him feel a little sad because for some reason he wished for a bit more of a connection between them. Do you know where deck 14 , Room A36 is?"[ Costa - Landing Pad C -> Turbolift] "No 'normal' on Front Ear, Coop." Costa followed suit and had used air quotes, too. "First time Dog tried ta dock, was left waitin' fourteen hours. Cargo rottin' an' crew itchin' ta get off after ten weeks in the black. Next time, brought the Ops team some homemade booze. Now the Dog never waits an' gets the best spot."Well, she used to. Costa had no idea how things would change under new management, but she suspected a lot. "If ya crew any use, would wager that this might be the last disappearin' plant we see." As she approached the turbolift, with Brody pulling his case, marching ahead, she took it upon herself to let the ones upstairs know there had been a few incidents on the pad. She pulled out her personal communications device and called it in. =/\= "Oye, Command Center. Captain Costa o' the Diamond Dog here. Jus' FYI, Landin' Pad C has seen some action this morn'. An unidentified creature was removed from the area by a coupla science types, an' have jus' had a plant appear an' then disappear righ' in my path. Tha's all. Have a stellar mornin', Costa out." =/\= She stepped into the turbolift and then nodded when asked if she knew Deck 14. "Sure, tha's enlisted bunks. The A's are eastside, reckon." Costa leaned against the side of the lift, and once they were ready, gave the command. "Deck 14.""Hope ya roommate dun snore," she teased. *** [Command Center] Tom was not happ that Admiral Ellis was coming on board. Jett walked to the Turbolift and stopped as she called him with all three names. [ Felicity Ellis - Turbolift -> Deck 3] She didn't need any extra-sensory gifts to sense the man's hesitation. Felicity couldn't really blame him. Her mother elicited all kinds of reactions from people, and most didn't have the kind of shared history that she and Jett had, nor the service. When he capitulated, she loosed the breath she'd been holding. At the observation that she was having a rather rough start, she glanced sideways at him. It wasn't even noon yet, and the list of problems already seemed endless. There was a small, half-smile on her lips when she responded. "I've actually had worse first days." The Kildara sprang to mind immediately. She didn't think any new assignment would quite beat providing counseling to a science vessel that had been ravaged by the Taranko parasite. One thing hadn't changed between that first posting and this last one, however, and that was her inability to say no to an offer of decent whiskey. The turbolift made the very short journey two decks down, and the doors opened to reveal the plush lounges and suites that were used to host important meetings of senior staff, and talks with delegates. Much like the very few other areas of the station she'd seen so far, this one was also covered in a coating of dust; motes twirling through the air and drawing her attention when they caught the dim light. There was a faint smell of something - damp, perhaps? Whatever it was, that smell had no business in space. Another problem to add to the list. The woman hadn't even seen her own quarters yet. She began walking toward the nearest room, nodding toward it by raising her chin, and stepped through the doors. When the room didn't illuminate immediately, she narrowed her eyes and barked, "Lights." They blinked, once, twice, then maintained a steady thrum. "Remind me to speak with the Chief about overhauls..." She muttered, mostly to herself, as she moved toward the head of the table and the integrated console there. With a few taps and strokes of her fingers, she'd entered her credentials and gained the access he'd requested. Then she stood back and folded her arms. "Have at it, Sherlock. And before you ask, I'm not leaving you alone with my codes."Felicity arched a brow, waiting for an argument. It was then that the marginally helpful ensign contacted her. =/\= Ensing Hatchett to Captain Ellis, I'm afraid the transporter logs have been deleted. We don't have anyone on this crew capable of restoring those, but if you have someone among your people... =/\= He trailed off, hoping the captain would have a recommendation. She chewed the inside of her cheek for just a moment, and then responded, plan in mind. =/\= Yes, thank you, Ensign. Forward everything you have to Master Chief Ozu Saya's PADD. She'll be in touch momentarily. Ellis out." =/\= So it was foul play. It wasn't a self-transporting pet plant, after all, but something else. It was a lot of trouble to go to for a joke, if that's what it was. And at whose expense? Parsinp's? Riordan's - the potential unsuspecting snack? Or was it just to mess with the newcomers. Felicity's eyes narrowed; she wasn't partial to any of those options. =/\= "Ellis to Ozu. Chief, I'm really very sorry for interrupting your settling-in time, but there's an issue with a transporting plant. I know, it sounds bizarre." Everything here has been bizarre, she added to herself, before she continued updating their Chief of Engineering. "Ops tells me the transporter logs have been deleted, but I was hoping you might be able to restore them, most importantly, and then pinpoint a culprit." =/\=

[Men’s Locker Room, Deck 32 - Front Ear Station]
Caroline was slightly blinded by the bright light of the transporter beam. She raised her arm to her face and swore, as the light faded and left her in the dim room. She’d at least managed a glimpse of where she was. A locker room. The men’s facility, if she wasn’t mistaken by the gross, musty smell of it. Likely not cleaned much, like the rest of the station. Quickly she stood up, and began walking to the sound of the voices she’d heard calling to her. Almost immediately she was downed again by her shin striking something hard, below knee level. Her hands went out to catch herself, as she landed on the floor again hard, the breath knocked out of her as the object hit her midsection.
”Ugh!” She coughed out, and inhaled sharply. ”A heckin’ bench. I ever find out who’s behind that stupid plant and the transporting me without asking and I’ll wring their necks and feed them to the damn thing.”
She stood up again, and rubbed at her solar plexus. Her shin was also sore, but she didn’t want to take another risk bending again. Nearly dying had sobered her up a lot, but being battered around didn’t much help her stomach or head. Carefully this time, she made her way around the corner and found the rescue team, which apparently had dwindled down to Lt. O’Leary while she’d stumbled around in the dim.
”Niamh! My hero!” Aches and pains, momentarily forgotten, she launched herself at her friend, to grip her in a hug. ”I almost died!”

[Rylonis Trellgin, USS Dauntless, Docking bay] Rylonis had been waiting in her room, bags packed, and Uru pacing his crate. She'd been watching the clock like a hawk, as her intention was to be one of the first ones off this Starship. She'd felt like people had been watching her like vultures waiting for their next corpse to feast upon, why, she didn't know. It had never been that way on her previously assigned Starship, but she also knew better than to question anything on an admiral's ship. She saw the clock strike a few minutes to docking time and she grabbed her couple bags of luggage and Uru's crate, of which he gently batted at her hand in an attempt to say to let him out. " No Uru, I'm sorry, I can't let you out just yet," she says softly as she leaves her quarters and makes her way to the docking bay. Upon arrival she found herself a spot to set stuff down while she awaited the doors to open. She couldn't get out of there fast enough. [ Admiral Antoinette Ellis - USS Dauntless, Bridge -> Passageways, Docking Bay] "Commander." Antoinette beckoned her Chief of Operations away from Tactical II and toward her. She stood, straightened her immaculate uniform, and swept from the bridge, her man falling into step beside her with a practiced ease. The Admiral's voice was low, smooth as she walked through the passageways of the Defiant-class vessel. "Take a few of your most trusted, and disperse throughout the station. You have two days to integrate, infiltrate and discover everything that makes this place tick. I want to know where off-duty officers go to get their jollies. I want to know what substances the civilian freighter folk are bringing in, and where one can purchase it. Names, businesses, the graffiti on the walls of the public bathrooms. I want to know it all, Commander.""Yes, Admiral." He veered off, splitting away from the dark-haired woman, intent on his quarters while she continued on. Admiral Ellis slowed and then paused as she came up alongside the young blonde, Trill woman. "Hello," she greeted, very pleasantly, her smile warm. "Ensign Trellgin, isn't it?" Of course, she knew exactly who the Science Officer was; Antoinette made it a point in learning everything she could about individuals who could be of use to her. "Are you looking forward to seeing the station?"

Parsinp's eyebrows popped up when she heard that Harvey had actually gotten ahold of someone. With a small cringe, she said, Well, I am sorry about your counselor. Most people on the station know to steer clear of Harvey when he's out. It's not the first time he's been sent walkabout, but it's the first time he's ever got hold of someone. He usually pops up a few spots, then he's back in my quarters.Parsinp worried her lip with blunt fingers for a moment, then raised one in a 'wait' gesture. She walked over to one of the ops stations and tapped a couple of keys. =/\= Commander Parsinp to all station residents, be on the alert. Harvey, our friendly neighborhood plant lifeform from Kerelia has been seen out and about today. Be sure you give him a wide berth if you come across him and contact the command center. Thank you. =/\= There, she said with satisfaction. That should help us track him down quickly. She glared at the civilian who appeared just as she'd finished speaking, opening her mouth to ask what, exactly, he thought he was doing in the command center. The large man stared at the stain for a bit, then he shook his head. Setting his bag down on the sofa - that would have to go to - he walked over to the replicator "Water, no ice." he ordered. But what he got was a shower of sparks and the lights on the thing flickered out. He sighed. Another thing to add to the list. He made his way into the bedroom... Ya, the bed is also going. And what is that on the wall? He clicked his combadge =/\= "To any maintenance engineers, please respond." =/\=[Ens. Isaiah Quinn - Xenobiology Lab, Front Ear Station] The stroll to the Xenobiology lab had certainly been informative, though rather confusing. From what Isaiah had managed to gather was that Mabel had been aboard the Front Ear for about two months, yet she hadn't worked with any of her colleagues. He was having trouble how that was possible because every posting he had served had him interacting with peers from his own department and without practically daily. It also appeared that she was a fan of the station's stowaway tenant. "So you're a cat person, huh?" Isaiah asked. As the entered the lab, he set the cage down in whatever space he could find. It wasn't very large, which for a xenobiological lab, he expected much more. What if they came across much larger fauna, such as something the size of a horse. They wouldn't be able to accommodate anything like that here. "So, you don't have a partner or anyone that works with you here?" He was pretty sure that she'd only confirm what he'd heard her say before. "Who's the Science Chief here again?" Isaiah just didn't understand how anyone would allow conditions to descend to this level. It was like they had a lottery for office space and Mabel had come up with a bad draw. She commented that he must e pretty smart to be working as a specialist in astrophysics. "Don't sell yourself short, Ensign," Isaiah said. "Right now, I'm lying on your expertise to help me figure out where this subject came from." He patted the top of the cage lightly. She went on to ask him if he had been good at school and what had made him pursue the study of astrophysics in Starfleet. "My grades were pretty good in school. I was also an athlete... parisses squares and baseball." He moved on from the topic to answer her question. "Actually, when I joined Starfleet, my intention was to become a doctor. However, I actually ended up taking astrophysics as an elective. I found that I preferred it instead." He shrugged. "The rest, as they say is history."As he turned about the room, he noticed the green goo that was bubbling in a vat. He maintained a healthy distance. "Mabel, is that some king of life form?" he asked. He certainly hadn't seen anything like it before. Actually, from first appearance, it looked more like it belonged in a chemistry lab rather than a xenobiological lab. It was then that he heard the station's commander speak over the comm. His brow furrowed as she announced something about plant from Kerelia moving about the station... at will apparently. "What the hell is a Harvey? And since when can plants move about? I've heard of plants reacting to external stimuli and moving, but the commander made it sound like the plant was out for an evening stroll." This had to be some sort of prank, right? Yet, to go to such extremes? His eyes turned back to the vat of green goo once more. His eyes narrowed as he waited for Mabel to share some of her intimate knowledge of this station. | Xenobiology lab | Ens. Mable Forthright |"Oh Harvey? He's a plant from the planet below. He was potted in a pot so, unless he grew tentacular feet or something he shouldn't be able to move. He's got the prettiest flowers. Yes he does! Yes he does!" as she cooed at the cat in the cage. As Isaiah looked into the vat of goo, Mable looked up. "Oh, that's Bob! He's a bob from the planet below too! At least I think it's a he. Really hard to tell." she walked over to the vat and plunged her hand into the mass of goo. It seemed to vibrate with something of glee. she pulled it out and her hand was completely clean. No residue whatsoever. Mable smiled and turned her back to it. "I have had a total of 4 lab partners so far, but each one has requested a transfer." she said with a dower look on her face. In that moment large psuedopods extended out of the tank wiggling and writhing in the air until they wrapped around Mabel. She smiled. "Bob is the only person that really loves me."
which was an odd thing to because it wasn't clear if Bob was sentient or not. "I guess people just hate me or something. And I've got no idea who the new chief of science is. No one bothers to even check up on me."

"I sure hope so...in fact, I have no idea whether I'll have a room mate. Are there no singles?" The turbo lift got them to their destination very quickly. Brody noticed the lack of certain security features he was used to. Everything seemed a bit old and used.
As they approached the room he noticed that there a few people hauling luggage in.
His room held two beds but was still vacant as there were no personal items anywhere to be seen.
"Looks like I'll have a room mate." He grinned at Costa. "Let's hope he doesn't snore."
He spotted an older model of a replicator in the small kitchenette. "Oh look....fancy a drink?"

Then the older woman's shoulders relaxed a little, and she leaned closer. "But you know, there are many ways that a conscientious officer like yourself can be their best for the Fleet."The Admiral waited a moment to make sure that she had Trellgin's attention. It was time for serious talk, but the friendly posturing continued. "I fear for Front Ear myself. I want to see it do well, to continue to be a beacon of Federation ideals out here, but I may have to recommend the closure of this facility. It has been allowed to flounder under unsteady leadership for too long, I'm afraid, and these reassignments are part of my last ditch efforts to save the station. What I really need are people here I can trust. People who have the Fleet's best interests at heart."She looked pointedly at the young scientist. "Do you think that might be you?"

[Rylonis Trellgin, USS Dauntless, Docking Bay] Rylonis watched the Admiral as she spoke to her of how she was considering having to close down Front Ear, this put a look of near horror across her face. She would hate to lose her new assignment right after getting it, after waiting the last three years for this opportunity. " Of course! I would do anything to keep this station running, I've been waiting for three years to get an assignment like this, I'm not about to let it be spoiled because of a lack of proper direction. If you need help, please consider me as an invaluable asset Admiral!" she says, her voice stressing her fear of losing the new assignment. Her mind was really trying to wrap around what the Admiral had just told her. " If I may ask though, in what ways has the station been allowed to flounder exactly? Is something happening on the station that I've not been briefed on?" she asked in a concerned tone.

Thankfully, nobody could see her face, so nobody would know just how awkward the Irish woman was in these kinds of situations. After a few moments, however, she raised an arm to pat Riordan on the shoulder, making what she assumed was comforting motions. She might not be used to physical displays of affection, or anything really that didn't involve the giving or receiving of 'dead arms', but that didn't mean she didn't care about her friend. "Whisht now, Cara, 'tis gone, 'tis gone." Her voice was soft, but then one of her fists clenched and she shook it. "That thing better hope our paths ne'er cross again, I tell ye, or I'll make into a salad."She pulled back from the hug, but kept a protective arm around the counselor's shoulders. "Now, we'll need to get ye to Sickbay, Cap'n's orders." She pulled her badge from her jeans pocket again and thumbed it. =/\= "O'Leary to Dr. Baker. Doc, Cap'n has ordered a full check for Lieutenant Riordan followin' her tumble with the murder plant. [ Costa - Turbolift -> Deck 14] "Singles? For enlisteds? Nah, mate, not unless ya made Chief since we last... met?" Costa's cheeky grin was back as she followed him out of the 'lift and towards his quarters. When Brody located his room and pulled his luggage inside, she hung back in the doorway, leaning against the frame as she studied the space. It was small enough, even by station standards, but having grown up on freighters with zero personal space, Costa saw no issue with it. "Or talk in they sleep, or sing in the shower, or chew wit they mouth open..." She tacked on when he repeated the earlier hope of having a roommate who didn't snore. Her eyes followed Brody's movements toward the small eating area, and then shook her head at his offer. Synthehol wasn't something she ever had an interest in; she didn't see the point in drinking without the effects. "Prefer the real thing," she told him, then she straightened up into a stance. "Need ta go see a client anyway." She started backing out of the room, but before she left his eye-line, she paused to pat her chest, where his communications chit had been safely stored, grinned, and declared, "Got ya number."*** [ Brooke - Private Quarters] At the sound of Greg's voice as he called out to her, Brooke smiled, that was until he mentioned that he had news, that he would need to tell Flick about, which wasn't probably good, if his Mother was involved. However as he then stopped in the doorway and stared at her, the cafe owner, couldn't help but grin playfully, as her husband to be, realised what she had done. His reaction was just what she had hoped for, whilst at the same time pleased that her attempt to hopefully lighten the mood following the distraction had worked. Besides it was always fun to surprise him from time to time, even as he then grinned and gave as good back with his Klingon comment. Brooke knew that playing innocent wouldn't work, although was certainly intrigued when he then mentioned revenge, loving the playfulness that they had with each other. " Judging by your response, you secretly like what I did but as for me finding you as a Klingon, well it wouldn't put me off" she said in a teasing tone, as she walked over to him. " I'll have to take your word for it, regarding the Gagh, but hopefully my little surprise, did its job in distracting you from that call".[ Gregory Ellis - Private Quarters] "Honey, you could come out here in a burlap sack and I'd still think you were the most beautiful woman I've ever seen," he told her with feeling, though his smile turned a little melancholic when she said she'd hoped it would distract him. It would likely take a lot more for him to forget the situation with his mother, or how much hassle she was causing them, but he appreciated the effort. "Don't worry, as soon as I warn Flick that the mothership approaches, I'll put it all firmly out of my head." He began to move toward her, his PADD in his hand as he typed a quick message to his sister. His eyes were down as he moved, not worried about walking into any furniture - there was none. He'd finished by the time he got to Brooke. Greg reached out to wrap an arm around her waist. "Come on, let's go check out the bakery premises, then I think we need to refuel." He left his suit jacket behind and a few buttons of his shirt open, preferring to feel a little more comfortable and casual now that they were sure they had the rest of the morning to themselves.

"Oh Harvey?
No one bothers to even check up on me." [Ens. Isaiah Quinn - Xenobiology Lab, Front Ear Station] Isaiah first listened to as Ensign Forthright explained what a Harvey was. Of course, she also pointed out that it was just a plant and shouldn't have been able to move. That naturally begged the question, of how it was possible that it could be seen at random points around the station. He supposed it could be transported, but the question would lie in the motive? Not to mention the fact that a clear record of those transports would have been logged as well. It didn't make sense to Isaiah, and presently, neither did quite a few things. The next thing that he explained was 'Bob.' Or at least that was how she referred to the green goo. It seemed as if a number of these specimens had been brought up from the planet below, Kerelia. She revealed that she'd had four la partners, but each one had requested a transfer. Isaiah took a deep breath, and began to wonder how much of this was a result of a number of oversights around this place. And for her not to know who the Chief of Science was, well... just how far out of the way could someone be nudged. Isaiah made a mental note to inquire about Mabel to Lt. T'Shrek when the opportunity presented itself. Right now, they still had their original orders. "So, what exactly can you tell me about this creature we found at the Landing Pad, besides the fact that it's cute." It wasn't that he found the creature cute, but Mabel had certainly indicated as much a number of times on the way to the lab. He took out a tricorder and began to scan the vat of green goo.
