[ Thea - Turbolift - Bridge, USS Mac] In the five days that the Mac had been away from Front Ear, time had seemed to rush by for Thea as she divided her duties between Sickbay and the Bridge. As she was technically acting XO for this particular assignment, Thea had took to the extra responsibility well and was actually enjoying the diversity that it brought. Depending on the rotation, she would either start the day on the Bridge or in Sickbay and often find herself switching at some point. Which again kept things interesting as she had also learned a lot from liaising with the other departments such as Flight and Engineering who had been given the opportunity to adapt and modify the Ark, as well as running simulations regarding a possible fighter squadron. Not to mention Science as they prepared for the ship's arrival at the Silas System. To some it may not sound so glamorous or as exciting as their last mission, not that she had forgotten the Tritters in a hurry. But for the CMO, a straightforward survey, mapping and investigation of a previously uncharted system, was one that she was looking forward to. Then there was of course the other exciting times ahead with what was going on within the ship itself and made her proud to be out here. Sure it felt as though she was constantly busy, but Thea had learned recently, how to balance that better and actually enjoy her downtime more. Okay that was largely due to the influence of one Ensign Isaiah Quinn, who she had been fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with lately and she certainly enjoyed his company. Although wasn't about to act like some lovesick puppy around him, especially when on duty, but it was definitely to reminisce and think about him. In fact she allowed herself a moment to do just that, glad that she was on her own, otherwise it might lead to some awkward looks and possible questions. That made her grin, until the lift came to a stop and the doors opened. Stepping out onto the Bridge, Thea took a moment to appreciate the view of deep space, imagining how peaceful it was as she moved down to the command area. " I've just finished checking in with Sickbay, Captain, all departments show ready to begin" she stated as she approached Captain Ellis and held out a PADD for her to take and peruse.

[Felicity Ellis - Bridge, USS Mac]It was nice to be on the move again. Felicity never thought she'd feel that way. Since joining Starfleet she'd been thrown about like a rag-doll, never really settling for long enough in one place for it to truly be considered a "home". Sierra was the closest she'd come, and her first few weeks on the Morrigan had been a new, homesick experience for her. She'd thought that was what she'd wanted; permanency. A sense of belonging. Now, as the Sovereign-class beauty slid effortlessly through space and away from the wild green of Kerelia, she felt something else. Perhaps this was what she'd always been reaching for. She took a sip of her coffee and shifted in the Captain's chair, trying to find a comfortable spot that wouldn't make her stiff. After all, she had a lot of Captainly 'looking at things' to do, and she often did that in a seated position. She looked up with a small smile as Thea Baker approached with her morning report. The two had quickly fallen into a very relaxed rhythm together during their short time together so far, and Felicity was rather enjoying the change of pace. A straightforward exploratory mapping assignment was just what the doctor ordered, and it gave some of her senior officers a chance to work together a little more, and get to know each other a little better. "Thank you, Commander," she said as she reached out and relieved her of the PADD. Holding it one-handed, she thumbed through the short, but thorough report. "How are your newest Medical recruits doing? Any course correction recommendations from Stellar Cartography?" Felicity waited for her acting First Officer to take her seat before bombarding her with any further questions. *** [Lieutenant Niamh O'Leary - En Route to Holodeck 1, USS Mac]O'Leary's team was growing. Sure, she'd lost the giant Orion, but she'd gained a Risan and two humans in the exchange, so pound for pound - equal trade. It also served to remind her that her position in the crew was by no means safe, and after she'd disappeared on Kerelia during the away mission she'd been placed on probation. She hadn't intended on falling asleep on that rock by the stream, but it had been so peaceful, and that gin she'd taken with her "for the craic" had knocked the wind right out of her sails. The raven-haired Irishwoman had woken much, much later, to all manner of awful sounds. She couldn't shake the feeling that she was lucky to still be onboard the Mac, and that with another strike, her days might be numbered. Niamh O'Leary was a little psychic on her maternal side, so she decided to heed those feelings. She had some making up to do, and she would do that in the form of bringing tasty breakfast for her officers, and by focusing on trying to make the Captain's airy-fairy ideas a reality. No time like the present. =/\= "O'Leary t'all available Flight crew. Meet me at Holodeck 1 in ten minutes. Bring an appetite." She glanced down at the tray of freshly baked sausage rolls. They smelled amazing and her stomach rumbled. "For hard work." =/\= She stepped out of the turbolift and strode toward the Holodeck, already munching on one of the crisp pastries, which contained some spicy and warm sausage inside. Gods bless the Mess Hall.

[USS Mac, Deck 3, Malik's quarters] Malik stared into his small, but still adequately sized washroom mirror as he rubbed his forearms from where the beast had ravaged him a few days ago. There were no physical scars thanks to the wonder that was dermal regeneration, but the memory of an alien tearing and rending your flesh couldn't be removed so easily. Still, at least his body was still in one piece and that was the main thing - all pilots not only had to fly, but also had to look good whilst doing so. It was lesson one of flight school. He began to comb through his jet black hair ensuring it was styled to perfection, Risan hair had a natural tendency to maintain its shape under even the most intense stress, something human females seemed to be jealous of whenever he mentioned it. Just as he finished pinning the sole golden pip to his collar, the hail came in. =/\= "I'll be right there, Malik out." =/\= He had ten minutes, just enough time to check himself out some more in the mirror before making his way to the holodeck. [Deck 8, Holodeck 1] As soon as he stepped out from the turbolift the smell of meat hit him, but not the good kind of meat rather the kind of meat that's ground together from parts of the animal no one wants. He heaved a little in protest. As he moved towards the holodeck the smell only grew stronger. He didn't know if O'Leary was a cook, but if she was she wasn't a very good one as whatever appetite he had was quickly diminishing amidst the wave of nauseating meat-smell. He strode into the holodeck and spotted the chief of flight, "Good morning, chief. How are you this morning. There was this odd smell out in the corridor..." Felicity Ellis

Felicity waited for her acting First Officer to take her seat before bombarding her with any further questions. [Ens. Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac] Ensign Quinn sat at the Science station on the Bridge. He had been monitoring long range sensors and coordinate remotely with Stellar Cartography. The detection that had caused some concern was what appeared to be a subspace eddy, something that could easily cause some shearing. Best case scenario, it'd make for a bumpy ride. Worse case... well, depends on how badly it could breach the hull. He had been waiting for Stellar Cartography to confirm, just to make certain he hadn't misread the situation. As he waited, he heard the doors to the turbolift open. When he looked up, he noticed Thea step onto the Bridge. He didn't think it necessarily appropriate that he wave and say 'hey' to get her attention. Somehow, it didn't seem very professional. As the dilemma rolled in his head, his console chimed, alerting him to a message from Stellar Cartography confirming his suspicions. The Captain had asked Thea how her medical recruits were doing as well as if there needed to be any course corrections. Talk about timing. "Excuse me, Captain," Isaiah said speaking up. He was certain he had probably captured Thea's attention as well. "Commander." He added the greeting with a nod, thinking to address her by her rank given that she was also acting XO. "Stellar Cartography just confirmed a subspace eddy in the path of our current heading. Both you and the Helm should have those coordinates now." As he finished speaking, he had forward the coordinates to the Helm and the command consoles. A slight smile appeared on his face, just as his attention returned to his console.

[Damian - Deck 12 - Banquet hall; USS Mac]
Sleep was playing elusive and seemed to do so on a streak that Damian found he was unable to break. So, he would continue to fuel himself with the replicator's attempts at caffeine and see if his pattern would fix itself eventually. He rubbed at his eyes and slapped himself a couple of times over as he stared at his PADD, running calibrations, standing in the middle of the banquet hall. Certainly, he knew that as far as priority jobs went - this was low down on the chain, but even so, anything could end up happening on the voyage and they'd be left with a broken banquet hall with flickering lights if they were caught (metaphorically) with their pants down.
He'd much rather play around with the sensitivities and checks of the torpedo launchers; which served fifth place on his to-do list. Damian grumbled, pinched the bridge of his nose, reminding himself that he could very well be back on the Station having to deal with the literal definition of a rust-bucket than on a ship headed for the unknown. Or he could well be running away from creatures residing in the jungle.
However, this was a headache.
The front control system circuit had just sparked, a tell-tale sign of it being overloaded, plunging the hall into partial darkness. He grimaced as he lowered himself onto one knee to remove the panel on the far wall - his teeth holding onto his torch - as he placed it off to one side and looked at what the actual problem was. Even if there was not a finger there, Damian continued to trace the wiring with the stub of what was left of his pinky.
"For once could someone wire it correctly. It is not that hard." He grumbled, words muffled around the torch as he set to work rewiring the control panel.

[ Thea - Bridge, USS Mac] Thea found Captain Ellis to be warm, fair and someone who the Doctor could easily get on with and her assessment of her, wasn't wrong as she was greeted with a smile and a thank you. The CMO returned the smile warmly as the PADD was taken and the CO then asked about her Medical recruits and if Stellar Cartography had suggested any course corrections. The first question she could answer easily but for the second, the Acting XO, was aware that Stellar Cartography were still working on it. " They seem to be doing well and fitting in, I'll be checking in on them a bit later" she replied, as she moved towards the designated XO chair. That still felt a little weird whenever she sat in it, as if she was only keeping it warm. However just before she could add about Stellar Cartography, Isaiah politely drew their attention to him, resisting the urge to smile like an idiot, something she usually did whenever they were off duty. Instead she settled on what she hoped was a normal warm smile to respond to him, as the Science officer, gave them the much anticipated response from Stellar Cartography. That smile of his was something that always give her a nice feeling as the arm consoles pinged with the information that he had relayed. " Thank you, Ensign and I was about to say, that I was waiting on them, but their information came at the right time".Thea then sat down and once Helm confirmed, knew it wouldn't take them long, to move out of the Eddy's way.

Since the Kerelia mission Lurai had spent pretty much all of her free time meditating, doing yoga, dancing and playing her harp; things that required focus and that would let her get relaxed and centred. The instance in the shuttle hadn't been the first time she'd ever fainted. Since her abilities had manifested early in life, they had grown strong over time. It was useful and a curse; For example, it allowed her to reach past several metres of mountain in order to sense the baby creatures in the depths of the caves, but at the same time it left her vulnerable to overload when unable to screen out telepathic noise from her surroundings. Her grandmother had had the same problem, and had eventually been driven insane by it: A fate that tended to happen to a lot of Betazoids whose abilities manifested early and as a result grew stronger and stronger over time. Unless you learned to control your abilities, they would keep growing until eventually they caused severe psychological problems. The looming threat of one day having her mind consumed by its own abilities, like granny, had constantly hung over her like a dark cloud. But she refused to let the fear control her life. So in the past days she'd been actively enforcing a vaccination program in order to vaccinate everyone who'd been exposed to scratches or bites on Kerelia (including herself). Everyone who'd been exposed had also been required to undergo a health scan. Whoever had been trying to escape these measures would have been hunted down by a very stern hypospray-wielding Betazoid and made to answer to the same. At the moment she wasn't chasing after obstinate officers, instead she was in sickbay updating medical journals accompanied by the gentle background humming of a blood sample centrifuge, singing an old Betazoid song in her head.

[NPC - First Officer Aella [S.S. Falcon – Bridge] “Damn it! Captain . The Female first officer yelled as she slammed her fist in the control panel. It was her first mission with a new Captain and as predictable the man was a complete idiot. As she looked around, she observed smoke and as a spark at their ship has taken damage from the battle. She was pissed off and angry as she was figuring this new “Captain” was likely going to lead her to death. She has not survived through soo much to just die on some idiotic noble crusade. She wondered what was his motive, but she figured that she would get from a Ex-Starfleet Officer. They were supposed to be civilians and grabbing money not a rescue operation for weak people that do not know the peril of space. She observed as she pressed the tactical control and she fired their weapons as the last of the pirate ships was disable. “Suck on that Pirates! You want to see who has a bigger gun now! This Bitch!” . She yelled in exciement as the last ship was disabled. She did not understand why the man was not willing to destroy them. As the space battle seemed to be simmering the pressed her comms =/\= Aella, to Captain Jett…just want to say you have a short time to play the hero. The hull integrity does not look good and they are several life sign =/\= . As she closed to channel she was pissed as they would not be able to salvage that ship. Maybe steal the ship from the pilots but given their weapons, they would not get much for them. Thomas Jett [Uknown Ship Hallway] Tom walked slowly in the hallway as he felt the ship move once in a while. As he took steps he felt the pressure of the hull. He came responding a distress call from this ship and it appeared that it was attacked by Pirates. He damage that was done was sever but it appeared that this ship was behind Standard Federation Technology. He walked for a second as he heard the noise coming from a walkway above him. “Reinforcements!”. The person yelled as he opened fire to his position. Quickly, Jett tried to seek cover behind a wall. He laid sat as he took cover and pulled out “I’m Captain Thomas Jett, I’m here to help” . The man said as he heard people firing into his position. He was not happy that they just decided to fire on him, but he was not sure motive or the reason. “Why does everyone need to be trigger happy these days” . Jett commented as he heard his position being fired. “ You can help by dying…sorry, no witnesses” A Random man yelled at Tom’s direction. It appeared that they several of them. “Of course...so cliché” . Tom muttered as it was clear to him that he was speaking to the Pirates. He felt another shake in the hold as he figured that the hull integrity was not good. He heard a beep from his personal communicator and pulled it out. =/\= Aella, to Captain Jett…just want to say you have a short time to play the hero. The hull integrity does not look good and they are several life sign =/\= . =/\= “Really? I wouldn't have guessed. Tell me something I don’t know =/\= . The man responded sarcastically. He already heard been shot at and felt the observation from this new first officer. As he placed the comm down he heard footsteps coming around. The individuals stop their fire and now ar moving around. He raised his pulse pistol and heard their movement. If he was guessing man they were putting themselves to just kill him. He picked up his comm and begand movely as silently as possible He knew or figured he was outnumbered but who were they and how they moved as different. Tom’s advance right now is that he was trained for combat and survived a war. Most pirates have only seen minor skirmishes. The dominion was a very formidable enemy. Tom tried to move as quietly as possible as he tried to see why these men attacked and their motive. And more importantly, why are they soo hostile. He was silent and he observed he took cover and could see one the men. He appeared to be heavily armed and moving on a well-trained position. I’ve never seen pirate move this way. They are moving like trained soldiers. . Tom thought as he looked at the man moving. He knew his position and knew that this person was looking to fire at him from a clear elevated position. Which was a basic ground tactic that he learned in the academy. As tom observed silently, he was sneaking behind this guard when his comm activated. =/\= Yeah, Captain, you are getting raped with your insurance prices. Do you know that if you switch insurance, you can save 15% or more in ship insurance =/\= . CRAP!
Tom thought as the message gave away his position. The person turned around quickly pointing trying to point his or her rifle to Jett’s position. Before the person could turn away completely, Tom raised his pulse pistol and fire him in the chest. He gave away his position and would be surrounded quickly. He walked to the guard that he stunned and looked at his chest. He observed the following image. Tom looked at the image and then said =/\= “Captain Jett to Aella, I don’t think we are dealing with Pirates…I think they have a coat of arms. . As he finished. He moved and wondered. What did I get myself into Tom wondered.

[NPC Yeoman Heather Hill - Bridge, USS Mac] Yeoman Heather Hill made her way onto the Bridge from the turbolift, tray containing a carafe of coffee and other accoutrements deftly balanced on one hand, stack of report filled PADDs in the other, tucked slightly under her arm. She made her way over to Captain Ellis and Commander Baker, a smile on her face. ”Good morning Captain, Commander. The early bird gets the worm, but the slightly later yeoman brings coffee and sweet rolls. The little pots have cream and sugar, if you like, Commander.”The yeoman knew her captain took her coffee black and strong. And never, ever tea. Especially this early in the day. The PADDs were stacked in order of importance, well the one from Admiral Ellis was sort of important, but she’d stacked it further down. No one wanted to deal with that woman this early in the day, and it’d put her Ellis in a mood blacker than the coffee.

[Turbolift > Bridge] "Computer, stop. Deck 8." Well, so much for that. Guess I'll have to wait to say hello later. With credit due to Mac's engineering staff, Derek barely felt a tremble beneath his feet as the lift's inertial plummeted to zero, and then reserved course back down the way he came. It had been nearly five years since he'd last served on a sovereign-class starship, but the deck schematics were similar enough, even if the smell wasn't. Mac was clean and fresh, bulkheads yet to be stained black with acrid smoke from smoldering polymers, and monitors with untouched screen protectors still covering their consoles. A far cry from Manetheren when they'd brought her in after the war. You could tell when the turbolifts were moving on that ship, the tracks minutely warped from one violent predicament or another. Those quirks which came hand-in-hand with the tough life she led became something of a comfort to her crew, a familiar oddity in the ship they called home. He hadn't slept well for weeks after being posted landside. Still, Derek was glad to just be standing on a moving deck again, even if Mac's characteristics were a mystery to him. He reckoned with enough time, she'd share her secrets too.
[Deck 8 - Holodeck 1]
For a brief moment when the hatch opened, his olfactory intuition told him he had walked into a British pie shop, even while all his other senses vehemently disagreed. A few seconds later, after his eyes had adjusted to the dimly lit chamber and he equated the savoury fragrance to a plate of sausage rolls carried by a young lieutenant, Derek strolled through the doorway and introduced himself to the other two occupants amiably. "Good Morning. Lieutenant O'Leary, I presume? Derek Black, recently transferred from the Academy." He waited for O'Leary to free up a hand by finishing her half-eaten pastry before offering his own to shake, and then the other Ensign's in greeting.

"And not plunged us into darkness." He used his fingers to poke around the panel, his lips pressed together and smirking slightly as he tried to figure out what was wrong. Damian only stopped, lurching backwards to avoid a shower of sparks that had suddenly flared up. "Just recalibrate it, she says."Kaya Som

"Oh my gods, move," Kaya huffed and inserted herself bodily between Oerstadt and the now-angered panel. She reached up inside the panel up to her elbow and flipped a switch. Some yellow runner lights flickered on around them. "See, if you'd just -- " Then the lights switched to flashing red alert red, blessedly without the alarm. Still, it wasn't Kaya's best look. She swore under her breath and reset the switch again and they were in the dark again. She pulled her arm out again and picked up the flashlight. "Yes, well." She sat back onto her heels with the air of a cat who 'meant to do that'. Tag Damian Oerstadt
