[NPC - Sundancer to-Srallansre - Park]Sundancer's tail looped slightly at that offer. "I would be honored to share songs with you... Rio," he answered, slightly hesitant at the very short name but saying it nonetheless. "Among my people, our songs are highly prized. It would be an honor if you share a song with me, and allow me to try and accompany you." "Awesome!" Grinning, Rio settled cross-legged on the grass with the ukulele in her lap, watching as Sundancer sat with his own instrument, and she was impressed that he'd be using his tail, although it did make sense. She had just never thought of a cat playing drums like that...or at all, for that matter! Buster could drum well enough on the cabinet door when he wanted a treat, but nothing like this! Then she contemplated just what song to do. A ballad would be good, something that told a story, but the ones she could think of were too slow to give a drummer much to do, and she tossed aside drinking songs, and... She looked up as the Commander arrived with some companions, giving her a little reprieve in choosing a song. [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams), Max Williams, Grandchildren, & Ens. Mabel Henriksen - Park, Deck 6]Judy led them towards where the bard and Rio Sosa were, pushing little Benjamin's stroller. For all her complaints about her age, Judy wheeled the stroller about gracefully and steadily, and the grandchild, in a Starfleet uniform onesie, looked very placid in there. "May we join you?" she asked Rio and the bard as they reached their location.
"Oh, yes, Ma'am, of course!" Rio hadn't really expected much of an audience, particularly the Commander, but it was to be expected, she supposed, and she'd have to push aside anxiety now, and just carry on. "My drummer for this session is Sundancer...to-Sarllanse..." Her nose wrinkled up as she hoped that she hadn't butchered the guest's name too badly. "Sundancer, this is our Commander, Judith Eastman, and...I'm sorry, I don't know the others' names. But please, of course have a seat."And with the dynamics changed, so did her choice of tunes... Then she heard, well, something that sounded sort of like an instrument, or maybe someone in pain? MCPO Ozu Saya & Family - Park - Deck 6] Excellent plan, Saya said as she made a quick tuning check before leading her family over to the other musicians. Kyo grabbed a chair and placed it for Saya, then stood behind her so that he wouldn't be blocking anyone's view of the other players. Judy, Max, Petty Officer Sosa, Sundancer. I'm glad you've found your way to the musical part of the event. This is my mate, Kyo and our son, Evekh.
"Good to meet you." Rio nodded and smiled, considering that somehow now she ]was the musical part of the event, not that she had intended that. "So, I think we'll try a song called, 'The Rattlin' Bog'. It sort of builds, so feel free to join in where you can."She took an experimental strum of her fingers over the strings, then tuned one. The song was lively, indeed, the audience could try to join in, and it was nonsense, so she didn't think it would offend anyone. Then she looked at the little boy with the kazoo. "Would you like to join us? It's not a hard tune, I bet you'll catch on real quick!' Not like much would ruin this, and the boy looked so eager, and wasn't that what music was all about? "All right, are we ready?" She picked a few notes as an intro, then started strumming and singing. Tag K'oshor, son of Khorshurk , and Judith Eastman , Ozu Saya

He followed them over to where Sundancer was playing with a young woman. Then they were also now joined by Saya, who he had already met that day when they all ate together. They had talked about music then, and now it seemed they would play together with this Sundancer. Yet, she too wasn't alone. Many had people with them. Some had small children. One could start a family here, he told himself with a slight grin. "I'm going to get my own guitar," he told the group. "Hello again Saya," he said to her. He waved to her son as well, having met the small child once before. He went to get his Klingon guitar, after saying hello. It was in the park set aside for when he might need it. He returned in a matter of moments holding the small guitar. "I'd be honored as well if allowed to join in," he told Rio just before the music started. He stayed standing. He held the guitar at the ready now. Soon enough the music starts to play, and he starts to play with the tune. He is smiling now. He is enjoying himself. In his deep, strong voice he to begin to sing for them all. He smiles when Evekh begins to play. He is enjoying this, he tells himself as he sings.

Opal did the Horta equivalent of a nod. "I heard they live in ecological harmony with their environments. I'd be fascinated to learn this as well and marry it with Horta culture. They should be fascinating. Saya glanced up as she noted movement of Judy's clan over to the instruments. She put her hands on her knees in preparation of pushing to her feet. It looks like we're getting ready to make some music, and that is one of my cues. I need to collect my mate and son and join them. It was a pleasure speaking to you. Please enjoy the rest of the festivities. She stood slowly, acknowledging in her own mind that her body didn't particularly like extended periods of squatting anymore, but it had been worth it for the conversation with the fascinating being. Saya found her way toward Kyo, getting close enough to get his attention with a wave before diverting toward the collection of instruments and getting her sleek cello out of its case. It was a slim, black instrument, perfect for travel. She'd played it since she'd been a child, when it had been a little big for her; now it was perfect. Evekh protested leaving his running around until Daddy told him they were going to play music, then the toddler ran over enthusiastically. Mama, my 'zoo! he called excitedly. Anticipating this, Saya had pulled his little wooden kazoo from the pocket of her cello case and presented it to Evekh immediately. He grabbed it and started blowing happily, knowing that when Mama and Daddy and Auntie Judy and Unca Max started playing, he'd have to play quietly and match their music. Even at three, the child had an impressive sense of timing and rhythm. Kyo assessed his options and said, I'm going to start with the tivara. Little less time and labor intensive for this setting. I'll get the bassoon out later if people want to hear it.Excellent plan, Saya said as she made a quick tuning check before leading her family over to the other musicians. "I have not met the others either.""These are my beloved husband, Max Williams, our granddaughter Helen, our grandson, Benny, my assistant, Ensign Mabel Henriksen, and Ensign K'oshor," Judy introduced, as she sat down on one of the picnic blankets and took her bass out of its case. Max joined her with his acoustic guitar, while Benny watched intently from the stroller and Helen sat down between her two grandparents. Both of the senior citizens joined into the music in time, Max fitting into the capacity of rhythm guitar, while Judy played the bass line. Both of them were careful not to hog the spotlight, not to upstage their Godson, the Petty Officer, or the honored guest, but even in their small roles, the two skilled musicians demonstrated talent, and that measure of synchronicity that many years together could foster. Sundancer drummed along, hesitantly at first and more confidently later, using mostly his tail. It was a technique that gave him a measure of force, as well as the ability to maintain a rapid rhythm if he so chose. Mabel, for her part, stood to the back and listened. At the end of the song, as the First Officer and her husband exchanged a small kiss, the bard had a question for the whole group. "What was the meaning of that song?" he asked them all. "And what are your instruments?"

[Park - Fells] "Food and grass sounds good....let do a bit of both." He smirked and had a look around. It seemed like half the station was having a good time out here. It reminded him of fests back home when he was a child where fishermen would sell stick fish, that that grilled over open fires while people dance to Icelandic tunes. The music was different but Fells could hear that it was hand made.
"Let's get something to eat first....werewe supposed to bring something?" He pushed the stroller forward towards one of the pot luck style tables.

She listened as Shavan revealed that he hadn't been here long, and had just been stationed aboard the Mac. So, it seemed he was a new arrival. That certainly explained why she hadn't seen him around before, but that was the only question that had been answered. "One could have said the same for you," Kova remarked. "Of all the people here, you chose to engage the only other Andorian." Her head tilted to the side. He may not be purely Andorian, but despite his protests he seemed to embody some of their core behaviors. Though, their exclusiveness came to an end when one of their distinguished guests approached them and introduced himself. Kova had been hoping to avoid such an encounter. After all, she wasn't here in an official capacity. Or rather, she wasn't supposed to be. He introduced himself as SilverTail, and Shavan quickly followed up with an introduction of his own. Well, at this point, walking away would certainly appear awkward. "Welcome to Front Ear Station," Kova greeted him. "I am Kova Sh'qaleq, originally from the planet Andoria." She felt it prudent to tell her planet of origin. She had no idea what all they knew of the Federation, but perhaps having some point of reference could be helpful. Evi trailed after SilverTail, thinking that his interaction with the two Andorians would make for some interesting photos. SilverTail dipped his head at each of the antennaed people, and repeated their names, Shshavan Th’zhaar, Kova Shsh'qqaleqq, with some difficulty. His tail coiled slightly as he picked up one one Judy's cheese bourekas and popped it into his mouth whole, briefly displaying a mouthful of sharp teeth. After a couple of quick chomps, he swallowed and made a contented sound. Oh, that's quite good. If you haven't tried any of the food yet, you should, he said pleasantly to his current companions. He went on, I hope you won't find me very rude, but I'd like to ask about those stalks on your heads. Are they sensory organs? I'm a biologist, so my curiosity is somewhat professional. He pointed toward their heads with the tip of his tail, as if they might not know what he was referring to. Evi snapped a few pictures as SilverTail ate, loving the candid shots. She paused before turning the camera toward the Andorians with a question on her face. I'm sorry to interrup, but I'm Evi Hugo, with the Federation News Network. Would you mind if I take some holo-photos for a photo essay I'll be working on?Kova was right, he didn’t have to approach her. The truth was that he was curious about her as well. After all they were both a very long way from home. And he was not the only one who was curious. Shavan wasn’t sure how he felt about giving information on Andorian biology to someone with so many sharp teeth. And.. claws. But Silvertail had guessed correctly. And he was used to being asked about them. “Yes, they are. Antennae are for balance and perception.” He twitched them a little as the Sivaoan pointed at them. He had seen Kova move them while she talked, but he was not in the habit of doing so as much. He glanced at Kova to see if she had anything to add, then figured he should ask the Sivaoan something as well. “You’re a biologist? What do you specialize in?” He wondered what science and technology were like on Sivao. Then he noticed Evi approaching them. He wasn’t shy, but didn’t like the idea of being in a photo on the Federation News Service where anyone could see it and know exactly where he was. “I don’t know if I want to be in holo-photos. But you’re welcome to ask what you want.” he replied to both Silvertail and Evi. Tag Isaiah Quinn Ozu Saya

The difficulty he had with their names was obvious. She had to assume they were sounds that the Sivaoans didn't typically use in their language. "You are welcome to simply refer to me as Kova," she advised. "It is not necessary to address me using my family name. My given name will suffice." She supposed it was only fair that she attempt to be cordial now that she had been socially engaged by one of the station's guests. It would likely be disadvantageous to remove herself from the conversation at this point. She watched as he ate one of the foods that had been on the table. He seemed to like it and suggested that they try it as well. "I shall consider your suggestion," she replied politely. She listened as Shavan answered SilverTail's question about their antennae. Shavan then in turn asked what SilverTail's specialization was. She realized she wasn't aware of Shavan's specialization, but perhaps he was a scientist as well. For now, she was keen to listen to the exchange between the two of them. They were then joined by someone else who's appearance was intriguing as well. Particularly her shade of hair: purple. Kova studied the woman's features. She noticed the pointed ears, but quickly dismissed her as Vulcan. No, she appeared much too interesting to be such a bore. "I wouldn't mind, if our guest has no objections." She glanced briefly at Shavan, almost as an unspoken challenge. Especially, when he considered himself so comfortable with his appearance. Her eyes finally turned to SilverTail for the final decision. "What is the theme of your... essay?" she asked posing the question to Evi. "If you don't mind me asking."

[ Leanna - Park, Deck 6] As Leanna waited for Fells to decide what they should do next, the Betazoid took another look around at those gathered for the reception. Smiling as she spotted people that she knew, especially the small group now playing various instruments and singing. The atmosphere was definitely one of happiness and fun and wouldn't be surprised if Divine Temptation made an appearance at some point as she had encouraged her staff to join in when possible. After all this was about them celebrating an important historic moment for both Front Ear and the Federation and they were as much a part of it as Starfleet were. However, when the Betazoid then picked up a change in the mood, in particularly one of great emotional distress, she tried to find the source. Although it wasn't hard to pinpoint as she noticed the Sivaoan who had been looking in their direction, before suddenly turning away from the family. It was strange, yet Lea was naturally concerned as to what had caused them to be so distressed, wondering if she should approach them or not. Momentarily distracted by it, until Fells then suggested that they do both and to start with getting some food first. " Good idea, Babe" she replied, as he pushed Aven's stroller over to the pot luck tables. When he asked if they were supposed to bring something, Lea was honest with him and hoped that the contribution from the bar, would make up for the lack of culinary delights from her own kitchen. " To be honest, I didn't have chance, but the bar has provided some of the official buffet".Ariana had been good so far and kept hold of her Mother's hand, that was until she too, became interested in the Sivaoan who had turned away from them. " Hi, come join us?" she asked innocently, making Lea turn in the same direction and smiled warmly, hoping that they would consider their offer.

[ MCPO Ozu Saya, Kyo, Evekh - Park - Deck 6] Evekh was excited and looked up at his mother for permission to join. Saya dipped her head, then pointed to it and murmured, Watch me. When the music began, Saya bobbed her head in time, and Evekh picked up the beat, blowing a short blast on the kazoo with each bob. Saya joined after a moment, her bow fairly flying across the strings as she picked up the tune. Kyo listened through once before joining in on the melody with the tivara. As the song finished, Evekh added a few extra happy noises through his kazoo. This is a cello, she said in answer to the Sivaoan's question. An Earth instrument, and Evekh is playing a kazoo.Mine's a tivara. A woodwind from Bajor, Kyo added. And I'm afraid I have no idea at all what that song meant, he said with a laugh. I'd never heard it before. It's a fun one, though.

It would likely be disadvantageous to remove herself from the conversation at this point. She watched as he ate one of the foods that had been on the table.

A small voice addressed her, and the Sivaoan blinked down at the little girl who had entered the park with the tiny baby. Her eyes lifted to catch those of the female (Two Dawns thought that was a female, based on observation). She smiled, which the Sivaoans had learned was a friendly gesture from most humanoids; she certainly didn't seem to be a threat. But the infant. Two Dawns didn't know if she could handle being so near such a small, helpless one. Her grief was still too fresh - part of the reason she had agreed to come on this ridiculous trip. She hadn't been able to design anything in months; her mind unable to see anything but the bedraggled bodies of her little ones, ripped away from her in a flash flood.

Music MeadowRio certainly hadn't expected the participation they got, but that was one of the wonderful things about music...it brought people together, and, as in a situation like this, anyone could join in, whether with an instrument or just their voice, and smiles were all around. Not only that, but with all the other voiced and instruments, Rio's own not-so-great voice was drowned out, and any nerves she had about playing in front of an audience melted away. As the music stopped, she glanced at the little kazoo player. "Nice job!" Evekh had been having a grand time, and there was yet another perk of music! "Meaning?" Something she hadn't really thought about, and even when she did, she came up with...nothing. "There isn't really a meaning," she explained, "it's sort of a nonsense song, just something fun and joyous that everyone can try." She shrugged. "We have rounds and such, songs just for singing. So, does someone else want to lead a song?"With the wide array of people, there was bound to be a wide array of music as well. Judith Eastman ; Ozu Saya ; K'oshor, son of Khorshurk

[Park- Fells] There were a lot of things to get distracted by and at first Fells was focussed on the food and didn't notice his two ladies getting interested in someone else. He was looking in a different direction. The magnitude of creatures made him a little weary. Plus there was security personell around, who was patrolling the eare to provide safety, which was their job. For Fells it meant a whole different thing now. He tried to stay away from them as much as possible.
When he turned around he spotted a catlike creature near his surrogate daughter, which she had taken a few steps towards. The Catperson was bearing her teeth, which looked quite dangerous to him, so he stepped closer and lifted Ari up in his arms to make sure she'd stay unharmed."Sorry, my daughter doesn't listen properly." "You must be one of the stations guests." He tried to sound friendly. From this position Ari could actually look the Sivoan in the eyes. "You sad?" She asked with more compassion than most adults.

He was certainly a curious one, inquiring further about their antennae. If he was a biologist, then he was certainly interested in learning all that he could about their most apparent features. She listened as Shavan explained that they did convey their emotional states as well. She began to wonder if he knew the extent of all their expressions, given that he was part Orion as well. Shavan explained that he specialized in stellar cartography. A star gazer. "It's true that for a time, there was no harmony between all of our peoples," Kova explained. "There was even great animosity and distrust. We were even on the brink of war. My people and the Vulcans, the stoic ones with pointed ears." Kova was assumed the description was apt enough for SilverTail to understand. "It was only with time that we came to understand that a union would benefit us far more than our historical animosities.""If I may," Kova continued. "I have noticed that your appearance differs from your compatriots. Has it something to do with the territory that you originate from on your planet?"She had also heard Evi's explanation. "So, to complete your task, you are hoping to be inspired?" Kova asked. It was likely a simplified explanation of a far more complex reasoning. "How will you know when inspiration strikes?"

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams), Max Williams, Grandchildren, Ens. Mabel Henriksen, & Sundancer to-Srallansre - Park, Deck 6]"I have already met Commander Eastman and Chief Ozu," Sundancer told Rio. "And what are your instruments?" [Ens. K'oshor, son of Khorshurk - Park, Deck Six] "I am honored to meet you Sundancer," he told Sundancer. "The instrument I play is simply the Klingon guitar. It is much more like a harp," he said of his guitar. "It's played by simply moving ones fingers across the strings," he pointed out. He himself had enjoyed the choice of song as well, and even singing somewhat. "I may have a idea for a song," he told them all. "Perhaps something we will all understand. How about the Beatles Judy?" He asked this of her. He was having a good time for sure. To Sundancer he said, "I did enjoy the way you drum. You did it well," he told him. "I hear your people enjoy stories as well through song and music. I'd enjoy playing about such a grand story of my own people put to song, and the Klingon people are known for many grand stories," he told Sundancer. The whole group seemed to be enjoying themselves and so was he. To Rio he said this, "Nice choice of a song I liked it," he said proudly.
