Shavan listened as Kova explained about the Andorians’ animosity with the Vulcans. For the Orions, animosity and distrust with most of the Federation was not entirely a thing of the past, though they stayed out of interplanetary war. He realized that he still didn’t know what Kova did aboard the station. Although from her question to Evi, it did not sound like she was an artist. "What brought you here to the station, Kova?"Shavan had also noticed SilverTail’s lack of fur, and the varied fur colors of the rest of the delegation. He then listened with interest to SilverTail’s reply explaining that while the different colors were normal, his lack of fur was a rare mutation. He gave SilverTail a half-smile. Although it was for different reasons, he knew something of what it was like to never meet anyone who looked like him. And to lack his species’ tolerance for cold. “We have diversity in appearance, like anyone. Just.. not usually like this, either.” The differences between full Andorians might seem more subtle to outsiders. “Andoria is an ice planet, but I also can't say I like the cold.” Maybe there would be more Andorian hybrids out there if most of their planet wasn’t so inhospitable to most other species. From SilverTail’s explanation he gathered that the Sivaoans lived in isolated groups and could be nomadic, but there was one phrase he didn’t entirely understand. “What is your Walk?” he asked, as the Sivaoan seemed happy to talk about his own people. Tag: Isaiah Quinn Ozu Saya [NPC - Kova Sh'qaleq - Park, Deck 6, Front Ear Station] Kova listened as Evi explained inspiration in her own words. "So, you become inspired after you've taken the pictures? Not before?" Kova asked as she attempted to understand the woman's words. It wasn't necessarily the case with Evi, but artists of any sort often showed better than they told. "I would certainly be interested to see the story you tell here today, as well as some of your previous works. Perhaps seeing the woman's work would tell Kova even more about her. The Andorian looked towards Shavan as he asked what brought Kova to the station. Apparently his curiosity in her had not ended with their guest, SilverTail. "Opportunity brought me to the station," Kova replied. "The opportunity to contribute to the station's security have led me to remain." She felt that the was likely sufficient enough to appease his curiosity without divulging more than she cared to. Kova listened as SilverTail explained the lack of his fur. It wasn't a geographical adaptation, but actually a mutation. It seemed to be a sensitive subject, but Kova wasn't going to apologize for her curiosity. If anything, doing so could possibly be interpreted as even more offensive than asking in the first place. Besides, from the way that SilverTail spoke, he had come to terms with this long before now. She nodded as he explained why he chose to wear the fabrics he had. "A useful?" she repeated. The term wasn't one that she was familiar with, at least in the context it was intended. Shavan then mentioned that they had their differences in appearance as well. And remarked Andoria was an ice planet. While it was true, she began to wonder if he'd even set foot upon the planet before. "Have you been to Andoria?" she asked Shavan. She allowed the question to linger, hoping the scientist would appease her curiosity. He then asked SilverTail what he meant about his Walk. Kova waited to hear his answer, though she considered it to possibly be his life, though it may have been some sort of journey.

Sometimes I won't know if I can use the shot, though, until I start putting the final project together. She noticed the crowd of musicians growing and shifted a little to take a few pictures of that group. The variety of instruments was interesting, and Evi made a note to approach later and ask to take some portraits and close-ups. SilverTail realized the words he'd used didn't convey enough of the meaning behind them through the translators the Federation people wore. He thought for a moment before replying, starting with the easier question. 'Useful' is what we call these pieces of fabric. We use them for everything from bedding, tent-building, bags. Perhaps not a creative name, but it is functional.
The Walk, I suppose you would call it a rite of passage. When a Sivaoan passes adolescence, we go to our camp leaders with several friends and ask for another camp that needs their number of adults. The youths are given the name of a camp within five days' walk through the forest. We are only allowed to bring usefuls, a knife, and a spear that we make ourselves. All members of the group must make it to the new camp or none of them become adults. The journey can be dangerous, with difficult trails, various wild animals, flash floods.
I would like to hear more about this ice planet. How do people live there? SliverTail's ears quivered slightly as they pricked forward.

[park- Fells] He wasn't sure what to think about the Catperson. For a moment it looked like she was eyeing his baby with too much curiosity and he had to reign in his natural protective instincts. He wanted to be friendly. So he nodded. "Good." Together they bought some food. He opted for flatbread filled with fried vegetables, dressing and salad. There was meat to choose from as well. They carried it to a spot near the music, which naturally attracted them. A smile appeared on his features when he heard the drums. Aven woke up from the sound, made a few tiny baby sounds and looked around. "You hungry, too, buddy?" He looked at Lea. "Looks like he smelled the food." Out of the corner of his eye he watched the Sivoan. "Did you get any food as well?" [ Leanna - Park] When the Sivaoan accepted their offer to join them, Lea smiled happy that things weren't as awkward as before. So as Fells answered her, Lea then spoke up. " That's great, we were just about to get some food then sit down".Ari also seemed happy as they then returned to the food tables and selected what they wanted. Considering that she was using up extra calories with feeding Aven, Lea chose a selection of meat, along with flatbreads and veggies. Helping Ari to get what she wanted, before Fells led the way towards a spot near the music. It was definitely a good place to sit, as the family enjoyed music and quickly settled Ari. She was about to take a bite when Fells alerted her to Aven being awake and how he must of smelled the food. That made her grin as he definitely had great timing and loved the interaction between her favourite boys. " I think he did too" she replied as she reached over and got him out gently. Listening as Fells then spoke to their new friend as she prepared to feed him and covered herself to do so.
tag Fells Halgerdur , Ozu Saya [NPC - Two Dawns to-Vensre - Park - Deck 6] Two Dawns followed the family to the food tables, putting several items on a plate with hardly a glance or sniff. She sat with the family, her ears barely flicking in the direction of the music, despite the liveliness of the group. When Fells asked her about food, Two Dawns dully lifted her plate for him to see. The handling of the infant caught her interest, however, as Lea covered herself even further before taking him in her arms. Her ears shifted forward, and her voice had a small amount of curiosity in it when she asked, What is the purpose of that covering? She jabbed the tip of her tail toward the cloth.

[Ens. K'oshor, son of Khorshurk - Park, Deck Six] K'oshor played with the group was enjoying himself. When Saya begin to sing he listened. When she was finished he smiled toward her with a friendly smile, and also he nodded to Kyo. "You both sing and play beautifully," he said giving them praise. He had played along with them for the song. His voice was much deeper and throaty but he did his best never having even heard of this song before. "I also may have a song from my own people," he said. The song told of a an Emperor of old. It was known as the warrior's anthem in English from what he could tell. He begin first by playing his own Klingon guitar. The words begin to form on his lips. "Qoy qeylIS puqloD. Qoy puqbe'pu'," he sang in Klingon first. He was proud of who he was as a Klingon. "Maybe in English would be easier," he said to them all with a grin. Sometimes he even forgot perhaps not everyone here might speak Klingon. "Hear! Sons of Kahless. Hear! Daughters too. The blood of battle washes clean The Warrior brave and true," he sang for them all. If Sundancer could recall words then he'd remember this song this day, and K'osh would be honored. "We fight, we love, and then we kill. Our lives burn short and bright, Then we die with honor and join our fathers in the Black Fleet where we battle forever, battling on through the Eternal fight," he finished his song for them all in English. He put the guitar in his lap and took a deep breath once he was done singing.

This was, as it happened, a cue for Judy to turn around. "I don't think we've been formally introduced," she told Xander. "Judy Eastman, his grandma."

It was true that everything he’d told SilverTail about Andoria so far were the sort of things that he could have just read about. He hesitated a moment before answering. Although, at least in this instance, there was no point in pretending otherwise. “Just once, for a short visit.” Which admittedly hardly counted as knowing a place, or its people. “What do you think it is like?” he asked Kova, leaving her to answer SilverTail’s last question however she chose. He was curious as to what her answer would be. “I’d be interested to hear more about your people too. And to see your finished project.” he added to SilverTail and Evi in turn. [NPC - Kova Sh'qalelq - Park, Deck 6, Front Ear Station] Kova listened as Evi answered her initial question about inspiration. It did beg a single question, which Kova eventually asked. "And has anything inspired you today?" In some ways, the question could have easily put Evi on the spot. There may have been something that occurred that felt impassioned to capture with her camera, or there wasn't. Yet, did the young woman believe that admitting such a truth could be offensive to present company? One way or another, they were likely to find out. Kova listened as SilverTail explained the meanings of the words in his language. The useful turned out to be a generic name for the fabric that covered him, and it seemed to have multiple uses. And their Walk seemed to be a rite of passage of sorts. Though, it seemed his interest had turned to Andoria and its cooler climates. Shavan had admitted to being there albeit briefly. He then yielded the question to Kova. "We thrive as any people do on their homeworlds," Kova stated. She took a deep breath before elaborating further. Most of our cities are below the surface. There are tunnels that connect each of those cities as well. Our world is primarily below freezing, though we do experience heatwaves from time to time that bring us above that temperature." Kova tried to think of what else she could offer to describe her planet. "We also have the ability to travel on the surface of our world. We use ice-cutters just as many other cultures use boats to, to move along our surface. Andorian physiology is more resilient to differing climates. Obviously we prefer cooler temperatures, but are able to thrive in a wide variety of climates."Kova wasn't entirely sure what SilverTail was asking. "We have art and music just as any other culture. We are passionate about a number of things... especially family." Kova stated. The last admission seemed to linger before she addressed SilverTail once again. "Is there something specific that you were inquiring about?" she asked.

Music MeadowWhen Sundancer mentioned that their memories were good enough that they didn't need written reminders, Rio chuckled and nodded. "Quite handy! I'm afraid my memory isn't so good...what we call 'selective', I remember the things I want to!" She laughed, then added, "With songs, it takes several repetitions, and then I can sing them without even thinking about it." Another song started and she joined in, the tune was vaguely familiar, she'd heard it somewhere but couldn't recall where, nor did she know the words, but it was easy enough to pick a few cords and strum along with it. Then came K'oshor's suggestion, and she was intrigued. Klingon music was different from what she was accustomed to from home, but music was music, regardless of the origin, and it helped you to learn about their culture. She sat this one out, just listening to the song honoring a Klingon warrior, K'oshor's deep, resonate tone drawing her in. It reminded her of some of the ancient Earth ballads that had long-since faded from most people's memories, and she thought about how technology helped to preserve those traditions. With all the databases, they could pull up a huge variety of information from all over different galaxies and millennia, and she was pretty certain that even a civilization of individuals couldn't accomplish that. She was also intrigued at the number of crew and civilians who were interested in music, and she was thinking that after this was all over she'd ask the Commander about starting some sort of group to get together now and again to exchange ideas and just have fun making noise! [ MCPO Ozu Saya, Kyo, Evekh - Park - Deck 6] Kyo had the bassoon ready to go in a few minutes, retrieving the reed from Evekh and placing it in the mouthpiece before dropping the strap around his neck and settling in. If I could? he asked. I think this is one everyone can jump in on.Saya narrowed her eyes at Kyo when he didn't say the name of the song. He was usually up to something when he did that. Her suspicions were confirmed a moment later when he started playing. Saya glared at him. Kyo raised his eyebrows, waiting for her. Saya raised her eyes to the ceiling, then drew the bow across the strings and beginning to sing in a lovely alto voice. Even though it came from ancient Earth entertainment for children, she'd found that the song meant a great deal to her. She wouldn't sing it in public, though, without urging. Kyo loved to hear her sing, and she wouldn't leave him hanging. Evekh just listened this time around, standing between his parents with one hand resting on Kyo's leg as he stared up at his mama as she sang. [Ens. "If Sven needs help, he knows how to ask for it," she reassured. She knew he was a proud man, but he wasn't a total fool. Her attention was promptly drawn back to the musical circle. She played along to both songs, appreciative of Saya's impressive singing, and playing along to the Klingon song as well. However, the Klingon-ness of the latter rather confused their guest of honor - and some of the grandchildren. "Doesn't blood make things dirty?" three-year-old Helen asked, drawing slight embarrassment and shaking heads from her grandparents. However, the bard's interest was piqued. "That song was rather different from the others," he observed. "Is your culture more warlike than the others?"He looked toward K'oshor, but also the rest of them, for an answer. Judy looked with much concern at the goings-on, hoping she wasn't witnessing an international incident in the making.

[Park, Deck 6] So many people! First the amiable Klingon and now these humans. Riordan, of course, he had met during orientation when he first arrived at the station. "Why hello Lieutenant! Good to see you again. Here to make an informal psychological study of our guests? I've heard interesting things... they're somewhat phobic of technology? Here have some of this". He pressed a bowl of steaming fish head curry into her hand. He turned to the other woman - Chloe, she had called herself. The man she had arrived with radiated discomfort, but she seemed friendly. "Forgive me please, i'm fairly new here. What department are you and your friend? And is that some sort of chocolate cake?!" [NPC - Shadow of Srallansre - Park, Deck 6]Shadow was in the slow process of regaining his composure when he was approached. "This is dangerous," he protested. "It's far too spicy. Do you have water I can drink to wash it away?"He looked over to the group of humanoids. They looked, and smelled, very similar but different. "My name is Shadow of Srallansre, from the planet Eeiauo. Who are you?" he asked of them. [Park - Harmon & Hudson]
Hudson poured Shadow a class of water from a jug on the table and offered it to him. "I'm Ensign Hudson. Chloe," she said. "I'm Lieutenant Harmon, pleasure to meet you," Harmon said as the cat like alien glanced around the group that had gathered near the food.
[Park, Deck 6 - Front Ear Station] While Ardon was distracted, Caroline managed to set the fishy stew he’d handed her down a safe distance away from her delicate sensibilities. She wasn’t fond of fish at all, and these… had eyes. The sight of the empty fishy eyes (and the smell) had her pale skin turning the faintest tinge of green along her light Trill spots. She swallowed uncomfortably, willing her stomach back to normal and tried to focus on the conversation going on around her. It seemed Lt. Harmon and his Ensign Hudson had an interesting work relationship. Something she would definitely like to pry into a little further, but in front of the felinoid guest was likely not the time to inquire. Time to put on her polite professional face, and behave. ”I am Lt. Caroline Riordan, or Cara, if you prefer. I’m a Starfleet counselor, usually with the USS Mac, but for the time being, I am stationed here on Front Ear. I think I speak for all of us, when I say we are looking forward to learning from your people and sharing our cultures.”Caroline did smile, but she was somewhat bemused. The Sivaoans looked more like enormous house cats than the usual felinoid aliens she was used to. Caitians were certainly fluffy, but she could usually withstand the urge to scratch one under the chin. There was really no diplomatic way to ask if you could pet a member of a diplomatic envoy.

[Park - Fells] Fells traded their son for Leas food so she could breast feed the baby who would soon start announcing his hunger.
The Sivoan curiosly asked what the covering was about. So Fells tried to explain it to her with getting graphic. "Lea is going to feed Aven...our baby. He drinks milk. So she covers both of them for some privacy."
Now Ari got curious, too. "Did mommy feed me like that?" Fells shrugged before he wiped some sauce from her chin. "I don't know." "Why not?" "Cause I didn't know her then." That satisfied Ari who took another bite. The Icelander wasn't very comfortable out here with his newborn baby and a catlike creature that he couldn't really judge. After swallowing his bite he asked. "How does your species feed babies..." He wasn't sure whether the terminology was correct, nor that he was putting salt in an open wound.

[ MCPO Ozu Saya, Kyo, Evekh - Park - Deck 6] Saya dipped her head in acknowledgement of the compliment from the Klingon, while Kyo grinned. He leaned over to give his mate a quick kiss and whispered, That was lovely. She gave him a shy glance before turning her attention to K'oshor as he began a Klingon song. Instead of playing along, Saya ended up wrapping her arms around the neck of her cello and listening. Kyo added a few deep base notes to the song on the bassoon. When the song was over, Saya raised her head and said, That was very good. I have had little opportunity to experience Klingon music.

[Shavan Th’zhaar, Park, Deck 6] Shavan listened as Kova gave a somewhat vague answer to his question and returned with a pointed question of her own. The Sivaoans certainly sounded unlike any other species he’d met. He wondered what kind of story would come out of the day. Tag: Isaiah Quinn Ozu Saya [NPC - Kova Sh'qalelq - Park, Deck 6, Front Ear Station] Kova listened as Evi answered her initial question about inspiration.
Tag: Shavan Th'zhaar , Ozu Saya (Evi & SilverTail) [NPCs - Evi Hugo, SilverTail to-Ennien - Park - Deck 6] Evi grinned at Shavan and answered Kova, Oh, absolutely! This is all amazing. In fact, if you'll excuse me... she wandered off to get some more photos of the musicians. It was all she could do to stop herself looking at what she had so far every few minutes. She wanted to wait until she got back to her quarters so that she could really devote all of her attention to choosing which pictures she wanted to use. SilverTail waved his tail at the young hybrid as she left, then turned his attention back to the Andorians. I find it all fascinating, really, he said. I had never conceived of such people as you two before leaving Sivao. I knew there were species out there that were vastly different from us, but it's difficult to imagine all of the variety that actually exists. We, too, are passionate about our families. All members of a camp take some responsibility for our young. As we're typically born in sibling groups of three to five, the mother often needs assistance in caring for them. Our children are curious and often mischievous. His tail looped into a tight corkscrew.

"Lieutenant Caroline Riordan or Cara, Ensign Hudson Chloe, Lieutenant Harmon, is all your people's food so spicy?" he then asked, still residually horrified. This did not seem to be going well. Shadow figured his mother wouldn't approve, but it was no big deal - dealing with the Sivaoan cousins and their tongue-searing food was bad enough.

[ Leanna - Park, Deck 6] As Aven settled into feed, Lea was able to rejoin the conversation, grateful to her husband to be for taking care of her food, so she didn't have to worry about juggling the two. Then again she couldn't fault how supportive he had been throughout this whole process, including some of the struggles that she had experienced, whilst feeding their son naturally. So when he then answered Two Dawns question regarding the covering that she had draped over herself and their son, she appreciated what was said. " I've been feeding him naturally ever since his early arrival four weeks ago" she added, to Fells' explanation, before Ari also became curious. Lea smiled as their daughter asked if she had been fed the same way, before Fells spoke with her and dealt with the sauce that was now on her chin. The Betazoid loved how he was with Ari and this was no different as she returned to her food. " Daddy Fells is right but Mama did feed you this way too".When Fells then asked Two Dawns, how they fed their young, Lea was definitely interested in learning about it, especially with their guest now witnessing what she was doing.

After a few moments, she visibly calmed herself, though she did absently grab her tail and wring it. Oh, we feed our children the same way. I suppose I meant, why do you cover yourself to do so? Though I suppose it makes some sense since your people cover yourselves all the time. Her tone was brisk, the only way she felt she could manage to speak without running away from the small, happy family.

And One of the others we met earlier is a hybrid between Bajoran and Vulcan. I was amazed to learn that so many different species are able to procreate together.
As to what I find fascinating, he added to Kova. I'm quite serious that I find everything fascinating so far. I have always enjoyed learning, and while I could never learn all there is to know even on my own world, I was excited to take the opportunity to investigate beyond Sivao.
Ah, yes, my people can be quite prolific. It's unusual for us to have fewer than three at a time, though two isn't completely outside the norm. It's very rare that a female births only a single child. That's usually due to complications before or during birth, though such issues are rare as well. We're really a very hardy species overall. SilverTail's eagerness was obvious in his tone.
