|Deck 31, Crew Gym -> Promenade -> Blue Beta Bar and Grill || lt. Sven Aune | Xander McGrath.|
Interactions at a glance: None
The two had finished their workout and Sven had changed into his active duty uniform, as much as he loathed it. Xander had headed off in search of work. He was still putting in applications with the local businesses. At this point he wasn't going to be picky.
Sven was making his normal patrol around the busy the shop district when he happened in front of the Blue Beta Bar and Grill. He wanted to check up on Fells and see how things were going for him, and his wife. Or so he assumed that Leanna was his wife was doing.
He walked in to find that it was really busy. He recognized Costa. The Block-aid runner. She must have just made a delivery to the station. He would check her bill of lading in the computer system later.
The large man strode up to the bar and rapped his fingers upon the bar-top.

[NPC First Officer Aella , PC Thomas Jett ] [Docking Ring]
“That was a successful run” . Tom said with a smile as he walked with the Docking Ring with Aella.
“No cowboy Bebop, adventures on this run.” . Aella said as she smiled. Tom reacted surprised to see a reference to an ancient Earth reference. “It’s hard not to notice all the reference you make. The two of them kept walking as they stopped for the Station for a moment to have drinks socialize.
“Still thinking of leaving?” Tom asked her. As he knew she might want to leave the ship and the crew.
“Heh, I thought about it. I thought you are a completely stupid individual. I even looked into joining the Nyberrite Alliance, but after spending time with the ship and the growing crew. It’s been growing on me. “. She said with a strong look at Jett.
Jett relieved took a deep breath and responded “I’m relieved to hear that. It would suck to find a replacement for you. You are a hell of a First Officer.” .
Aella looked at Tom and picked up her bag. “No offense Captain, but I am sick and tired of hanging around the same people. Now I am going to take my leave. I have to say you remind me of someone”.
Tom looked curious and said “Who?”
Aella began walking away and responded “Story for another day, Captain. Story for another day” .
Jett smiled as he kept walking. Maybe it was time to have some fun and gamble on the Casino.
[Promenade]
It took a couple of minutes of take the Turbolift to a familiar Promenade scene. The Station was normal that it was not too busy but enough people. Tom walked down the hallway looking at the different stores and vendors as they approached and sold their wares.
He was walking with no real purpose looking at shops. The Casino was closed by but he was looking at items.

[Blue Beta Bar - Fells Halgerdur] It was inevitable to finally go to the bar even though Fells had tried to avoid it as long as he could. He usually only went there to sort through stocks, clean up and repair things when the bar was closed. He had no desire to have another one of these 'walk into trouble' events or a whole lot of jaws dropping because they recognized his mug shot. So he kept away from it during business hours or went early in the morning or late at night. Today Lea had requested his presence though. So he tried to postpone it as long as possible by shopping in the back market for some of the herbs, meat and fruit she needed for the kitchen. Then he carried it in through the delivery entrance and greeted the kitchen staff. "It's busy today..." They warned him. Since Lea had requested his presence in the bar, he had to go upstairs and change into a nice shirt and pants. He even tied his hair in a bun because he hadn't decided to get a nice short hair cut just yet. It still felt too much like 'Starfleet'. Bracing himself for the busy bar, he then went to the front, where the room was buzzing with voice and the air had already gotten a little stuffy with food, drinks and body odors. Even from afar he could make out Lea, who was standing at the bar with Seamus as well as a lady, whom he didn't know and Costa. Acting confident and charming he approached her, gave her a brief greeting kiss on the cheek and offered to take the baby. First he greeted the two dark hair ladies with a smile though. "Good evening...oh, Costa!" Then he turned to Lea hoping she'd hand over the baby and let him dissapear into the shadows again. "Hi, sorry it took so long, I did the shopping for the fresh food...it's in the kitchen. Let me take Aven, then you ladies can talk."

[Seamus - Blue Beta]
The Bar Manager was currently stood behind the main bar, quietly observing the area as well as the various customers, including Sir Doug and his drinking companion. Although the Irishman refrained from joining in with the gossip currently being shared by the two of them as he wasn't the type to indulge in such things, at least not yet. No the Irishman's mind was firmly on the group who had rented out the mezzanine level, unsure as to whether he trusted them or not but as always would reserve judgement until it was required. So he did what he did best and tend bar, noting Lea's arrival as she stopped to speak to the Colonel, before his attention shifted to the arrival of one Lex Costa, one of the few Freighter Captain's that he liked.
" They are and one of them should be over soon" Seamus replied in answer to their business associate question and request that she needed either Lea or Fells to sign the PADD that she had on her. There was a slight curiosity about the box, that Costa placed on the bar top, but rather than focus on it, he listened as she enquired about a drink.
" Of course, I'll get you your usual".
Seamus then turned momentarily to fetch the bottle off the shelf and then poured Costa a healthy measure of her preferred tipple, then placed in it on the counter in front of her. [Costa - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]"Ya, taki¹, Shay," Costa with a nod and pleased grin. She had no problem waiting for her bosses at the bar, free drink in hand. When Seamus returned with a bottle of dark rum, one of her favourites when scrip wasn't an issue, she watched the pour with a sharp eye and a still ready smile. "Ya na so bad, Irish," she told him as she picked up the glass of amber liquid and raised it in a quick cheers motion, "Fo an Earther." It was the highest compliment she could give. She drained half the glass' contents then, and turned her attention to the busy bar as more and more patrons entered. It was then she noted the pristine uniforms and the Nyberrite Alliance flag and logo. She was somewhat acquainted with the organisation, having considered signing up shortly after she'd received das boot from the Fleet. That had been a brief consideration, and something she'd promptly forgotten about once she'd sobered up. Still, she had some business dealings with them. They were reliable partners, never made much of a fuss and always paid on time. That there were so many of them on Front Ear, and throwing shindigs, too, was a bit surprising however. One approached with Leanna Mazal, and Costa knocked back the remainder of her rum before preparing to complete her business. [...] Lea then smiled as Vasser gestured for her to lead the way, although checked on Aven as she walked, before greeting Jack as took drinks over to Flick's table, including one for Lieutenant Harmon. Once the bar owner reached the bar, she greeted Sir Doug and Counsellor Riordan as well as Seamus, before approaching Costa. " Costa, it's good to see you, I hope that Seamus is taking good care of you? ... also where are my manors ... this is Colonel Vasser who is in the charge of the group hosting the event on the mezzanine floor".[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] Colonel Vasser followed Leanna's lead as she led the way to the bar. Along the way, Leanna briefly greeted one of her servers. She only allowed her eyes to follow the man briefly, and found that it was fortuitous that she had. Slinking in booth was none other than the station's commander, Captain Felicity Ellis. Clever girl, Vasser mused. She had wondered how things would play out between them, and now she believed she knew where they stood with one another. She didn't recognize the gentleman he was with. It seemed that Major Chromar's work wasn't as efficient as she believed. One would assume that since she hadn't been briefed on him, that he wasn't a major player. Yet, that was perhaps why he was the most dangerous piece on the board. She'd get her intelligence officer on him as soon as the opportunity presented itself. As they reached the bar, Vasser's attention was recaptured at the mention of a single name, Costa. Leanna asked if Seamus had been taking care of her, but then remembered that she was with company and sought to make introductions. The woman smiled and extended her hand towards Costa. "Alexa Costa, it is a pleasure. Just goes to show how small the galaxy really is. I believe we have a mutual acquaintance. Admiral Torngate?"It was a simple name drop, but an honest one. It was best to see how the woman would react. Of all of their targeted recruits, she was fairly certain that Alexa Costa would be the hardest to sell. Of course, she'd be among the most valuable recruits. The play here was simple... to make Costa interested in her. Vasser felt she could empathize with a woman like Costa. She felt they had more in common than they did differences. Yet, she wouldn't be able to blow smoke up Costa's kazoo. She'd simply have to hope that the woman was interested in what she was offering. "Ya, im a gut wan," she said when Leanna asked if Seamus was looking after her. Her hand still atop the wooden box she slid it down the counter, closer toward the woman, who also seemed to have a tiny baby strapped to her. Costa found herself staring at the very small creature, her expression changing to one of barely-concealed horror. She fought against her natural urge to step back and dip and dodge away from the unpredictable varmint. Her eyes flashed between the sling, to Leanna, and finally to the woman in the impeccable uniform before speaking to the bar owner again. "Ting we been lookin' fo. Open in private." It was hardly a subtle warning, but the contents of the box were for Leanna and Fells. Then she flourished the small PADD for the thumbprint, extending her arm out as far as she could between them, not wanting to get closer to the baby. "Rest o' the cargo is on schedule fo' 2100 transport." The wait times for transporter delivery was a lot less these days, and it meant that her men didn't have to manually make drop off. Good for their backs, their morale, and better for business as there was less opportunity for them to skim. Her expression was disinterested as she turned toward the Alliance lady, though that quickly morphed into something else entirely when she mentioned Torngate's name. Costa reached out a hand to grasp Vasser's, her head falling slightly to one side as she studied her. "Ya, my old boss." And the only man she still called Hed. She gave Vasser's hand a decent shake, and then asked, "Ya served wit im?"[Blue Beta Bar - Fells Halgerdur] [...] Even from afar he could make out Lea, who was standing at the bar with Seamus as well as a lady, whom he didn't know and Costa. Let me take Aven, then you ladies can talk." "Halgerdur." Costa greeted him with a quick grin as she dropped Vasser's hand and turned to eye her one-time crewmate. It felt like a lifetime ago when she thought of her time on the Contender. At least she'd finally managed to learn how to pronounce the former Sec/Tac crewman's name; she'd mauled it beyond recognition enough times when she'd been in her cups. 'Hurdy-gurdy' was still her favourite. She couldn't believe he was getting married. Not just that, also had children. She hid the sudden shudder that rose.

[ Jack - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] After taking the drinks over to Flick and Harmon and enjoying the playful exchange with Flick. The Bartender returned to the main counter, just as Lieutenant Aune approached and wrapped his hand on the counter to gain attention. Looking towards his fellow Irishman with a I've got this look, Jack placed the empty tray in the collection point, then turned towards Sven. " Hello Lieutenant, what can I get for you?".**************** [ Leanna - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] It seemed as though Vasser already knew Costa, judging by the response the Colonel gave, once Lea had made the introductions. Still she smiled as Vasser then spoke to the Freighter Captain directly and mentioned that they had a mutual acquaintance. Dylan Torngate was a name she hadn't heard in a long time, knowing of the Admiral when she first arrived on Sierra. Although she didn't make a comment about that, preferring to the let the two ladies reminisce as Seamus acknowledged her, after the usual fun banter with Costa, before her husband to be arrived, looking rather dashing in his shirt and pants. The Betazoid had to admit that he looked good with his hair longer and definitely approved of his choice of attire. Smiling as he then greeted her with a kiss on the cheek and greeted those with her, before explaining where he had been, then offered to take Aven so she could talk. " Hey Babe and brilliant, I forgot that you were going to get some of the supplies and sure, he's not long been fed, so I think he'll enjoy some time with his Daddy" she replied, knowing how difficult it was for Fells to be here, when it was busy. Still she appreciated that he was here, especially with all of this going on. However before she handed over their son, Costa confirmed that Seamus had indeed looked after her, which was confirmed by the Irishman's trademark grin. It wasn't difficult to pick up on how Costa then reacted to the baby, not that Lea blamed her, as not everyone was used to having children around. The Freighter Captain did, catch her interest as she slid the box along towards her and mentioned that it was the thing that they had been looking for and to open in private. " Thank you and understood" she said, knowing that such things were to be kept private without too many prying eyes watching. Then Lea quickly added her thumbprint to the small PADD to acknowledge the transaction as Costa then let her know about the scheduled transport of the rest of the cargo. " Excellent, I'll have my people ready for it".As Costa then acknowledged Vasser and Fells, Lea then unfastened the baby sling and carefully handed Aven over to his Dad.

[Blue Beta Bar]
Harmon smiled and thanked Jack as he served up a gin and tonic. He took a long sip as he listened to the captain speak. "It's difficult getting information on them, they're quite secretive. Not a big fan of sharing. So far I can definitively say that Crewman Conor Lynch, Security has joined up. He's had disciplinary problems before, it makes sense. There's also been a few civilians we've been monitoring as potential criminals as well as a handful of ex-convicts who I can confirm have joined," he paused to take another drink. "These are the sorts of people they like to recruit. They advertise specifically for experienced Starfleet officers but they're all too happy to take criminals and desperate people with nothing to lose." Again, he paused taking a drink, this time for a bit longer. His headache was starting to get a bit better.
"I expect we'll see them contacting some of our people directly or advertising more aggressively for a time. They may offer things like shorter hours, they'll play the 'don't you want to see your family more?' card and things like that. They'll pitch life in the Alliance as some kind of noble adventure. I imagine in the next few days we will lose more people. How many is impossible to say but given our isolated position out here and the fact that for many..." he paused for a moment dwelling on his own circumstances that resulted in his assignment to Front Ear, "For many its an assignment to get them out of the way. A dead end for their career. I imagine retention will be harder for us than other stations." He took another long drink allowing the captain to process the information. "Monitoring them is difficult given the Federation isn't so keen on upsetting them. They have deep pockets and don't like being interfered with. I've got people watching their recruitment office but I would like to go further. Ideally I'd like to plant bugs and access their computer record, but I'll need your authorisation for that." [Felicity Ellis - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Felicity leaned back against the cushioned seat, loosing a short sigh at the mention of Crewman Lynch. She nodded, indicating she was familiar with the man in question, but kept silent as Harmon continued his rundown. When he paused to take a drink, she did the same, eyes sliding from him to look again over toward the bar, trying to match names to some of the more unfamiliar faces she was seeing. She wasn't sure if she should feel relieved that so many of her people were there, or concerned that they were in the bar to entertain a pitch. She looked back at Harmon when he mentioned how their assignment out here would be perceived. She was sure that it might be an attractive option to quite a few of them, especially if they'd been passed over for promotions or had requests ignored. Unfortunately many of them were prisoners to due process, no matter what end of the galaxy they were perched on. "How we proceed will depend on how this event of theirs shakes out. Command are somewhat concerned over the Alliance's growth these last couple of years, but we still don't have enough on them to justify bugging or obtaining their computer records. No, I think we might need to be a little more circumspect than that..." She tapped the table with an index finger distractedly, her eyes alighting on Colonel Vasser as the woman cosied up to Leanna and Fells, and a civilian. "I would like a list of everyone that woman speaks to." Felicity was referring to Vasser, her eyes narrowing momentarily in the woman's direction before she looked back at Harmon. "Maybe there'll be one or two recruits willing to chat about how things are in the inner circle. Maybe something they say will give us a reason, and justification, to examine our tenants a little closer."
Tag: Matthew Harmon [ Brooke - Private Quarters] The mention that he had just the thing, followed by the eyebrow wiggle of what he was mock suggesting, had Brooke playing along instantly, knowing that it would take more than twenty minutes and besides, it was always fun whenever they were playful with one another. " Oh you do .. interesting" she replied teasingly, before he grinned and held out the PADD, immediately grabbing her attention about what was written on it and how she might like it. Accepting it from him, Brooke began to read what it contained, barely getting through it, before Greg explained, knowing how adorably impatient he could be, especially with something so important and life changing as this. That's when realisation hit of what this was and how it changed everything for them. No more working longer hours, so she didn't have to spend too long in their empty home, or returning to an empty bed. No more wearing his shirt or hugging his pillow just for some closeness, from missing him too much. No longer having to worry about him or when she could get to talk to him, no this was more than she could ever of imagined and now they could do so much, instead of cramming in everything during his short spells home. " This is brilliant news baby and something we definitely have to celebrate ... this means so much to both of us and what we can do without .... " Brooke replied happily, remembering to speak as he looked at her. Forgetting about something so inconsequential as the cakes as she decided to finish how she felt physically, rather than continue verbally. So she put the PADD on the counter and threw her arms around him, before kissing him deeply. [Gregory Ellis - Private Quarters]Brooke reacted how Greg had hoped she would, her joy mirroring his. When she threw her arms around him and kissed him, he responded immediately, wrapping his around her slight waist and picking her up off her feet as he kissed her back. When he placed her back on the ground and pulled away, he planted a few more quick, light kisses on her lips, holding her face between his hands. His thumb stroked her cheek as he peered down at her, before pulling her back against him for a tight hug. "It took a while, but we got here in the end," he murmured into her hair, which somehow managed to smell as sweet as the cake rising in the oven. "Now I can be here for the whole run-up to the wedding, we can have a proper honeymoon and I'll be able to come home... every night." What a concept. Greg shook his head in disbelief over how much had changed in the last year. Before he never would have considered settling in one place for an extended period of time. His career in Starfleet came first, and his duty to his crew. He still felt that pull and had those ties, but now he also had Brooke. Things were changing and he had no intention of fighting it.

Tag: Leanna Mazal [ Brooke - Private Quarters] It wasn't difficult for Brooke to let out a sigh of happiness as Greg responded to her kiss, before lifting her off of her feet, which in some respects just made her want to kiss him more. Yes they were a very romantic and loving couple, but having this kind of news was as easily matched to some of the other important events that had happened to them, especially since their engagement and moving out to Front Ear. Still wearing a very happy and content smile when Greg placed her back on the floor, enjoying the extra quick light kisses that he gave her, before he held her face in his hands and ran his thumb across her cheek. That particular move always got a reaction from her, as he then pulled her into a tight hug, loving the closeness and the way he spoke as he nuzzled her hair. To have him home for the run up to the wedding, to have a proper honeymoon and just as importantly have him home every night was just something she had only dreamed about, but now it was their reality and she couldn't wait to have that extra time with him. " We did Babe, I'm so looking forward to us having all of this extra time together, to have the wedding, a proper honeymoon and now I can change my hours so we get home every night together and I can have a meal ready for us .... maybe even take an extra day off from time to time".There was so much that they could do now and plan better because of fate finally smiling down on them, with this transfer and how they could enjoy one another more.

[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Blue Beta Bar - Promenade, Front Ear Station] The Boomer was everything she expected her to be. Confident, capable and jaded. She hardly seemed impressed by Helena at first appearance, but the simple drop of a name that she valued, Torngate, had opened a door that would have otherwise remained shut. The freighter captain recognized the name instantly and her curiosity, if not her interest, was piqued. "Unfortunately, I never had the honor of serving with the admiral directly," Helena answered, choosing her words carefully. "Though our paths crossed several times. I did receive some orders and reported to him on occasion during my first command, the USS Ganymede. I found him to be... well, let's just say I felt I could have learned a great deal more if I had been under his command."Vasser briefly thought back to her time aboard the Ganymede. She'd spent most of her time going through the Sierra and Maxia sectors, but then branching out beyond the Federation borders. That was a different time, and different life. She had no idea how the freighter captain would react, but she'd adjust accordingly. For now, she had Costa's ear, now she wanted the woman's interest. However, before she could press forward, they found themselves joined by none other than Fells Halgerdur. It seemed as they were all gathering in one place. She smiled as his greeting was affectionate with his fiance, but otherwise simple where everyone else was concerned. Clearly, it was upon herself to introduce herself, especially after he greeted Costa by name. From what she knew, they had served together before. That could be something she could use to her advantage when she made them each their offers. "Good evening, Mr. Halgerdur," Helena said as she began to introduce herself. "I'm Colonel Helena Vasser. I'm the one that put you and the rest of the staff through all this trouble. I just wanted to personally express my gratitude for all the hard work you did to help pull this together." She offered her hand briefly to shake his, but understood that he had other business to attend to. Costa's aversion to the child hadn't gone unnoticed, but it only charmed Helena even more where the freighter captain was concerned. It spoke to her honesty, her transparency. Certainly attributes that Vasser couldn't help but admire. "I'm actually hoping I'll have the opportunity to further express my gratitude to each of you," Vasser said, as she looked at the couple. Though, her gaze shifted towards the Boomer. "And you as well, Captain Costa." Somehow, she felt using the woman's title would demonstrate the level of respect she held for the woman. As her communicator chimed, Vasser apologized. "Excuse me a moment. Vasser, go." It had been a simple reminder from her subordinate that it was time. "Acknolwedged. Vasser, out." She lowered her hand communicator and then turned to face the others. "I'm afraid duty calls. I have to step away to address the rest of our guests, but I'm hoping to speak with you all again shortly afterwards." It was mostly a request, as she knew she couldn't hold them hostage. Yet, hopefully between what they'd heard just now and what they were about to hear, she'd earn an audience with them. After a moment, she turned and started to weave her way through the crowd towards the mezzanine. If she didn't have Captain Ellis' attention yet, she'd have it soon enough. It was showtime.

[Blue Beta Bar]We don't have enough on them because we can't monitor them, he thought to himself with frustration. He followed the captain's eyes as she looked over towards the Colonel who was talking with Leanna and Fells. He couldn't help but wonder if Fells was considering joining up. He certainly fit the profile of a common Alliance recruit. "I can go through security footage to see who she meets with," he nodded in agreement. "I'll have her monitored more closely as well, though I may need to second some people from Security to help. Probably not many, but I'm not sure my two staff will be enough to keep up with regular duties and this." Getting willing recruits to chat would be uniquely difficult. There was little incentive or leverage he could use to get them to flip. He didn't have the authority to provide any sort of reward to them and blackmail would be unlikely to work given the Alliance's willingness to take just about anyone who passed their selection training. "I'll look out for potential recruits we may be able to turn, but I'm not confident. It may be more feasible to send in someone undercover," of course that had its own problems and could be quite difficult given how frustratingly diligent the Alliance could be. He mind quickly began running through possible scenarios and ways to approach the problem. He could get the information the Captain wanted, he just needed to find the right person.
He noticed, and was sure the captain did too, that the Colonel was moving to the mezzanine, most likely to address the room. Picking up his drink from the table, he leaned back in the booth and made himself comfortable, taking another drink. "This will be interesting, at least," he said to the captain without moving his eyes from the mezzanine.

[Blue Beta Bar - Fells Halgerdur] The Colonel introduced herself and made Fells wonder how such a young woman could have reached such a high rank while he himself had achieved nothing. Her words sounded stiff, formal, business like. So Fells adapted and became Lea's business partner for the moment. "It's what we do here at the Blue Beta. No problem...I mean it's good for business. Look around!"After all they were paying a nice sum, which would even out the decrease in business after the break in. She took a call and then excused herself, which was something Fells would soon do as well. He leaned closer to Lea and whispered. "How long do you need me here? Is an hour enough?"Aven moved his head a little but kept his eyes closed.
As much as he wanted to get away from the formalities and all these people, which he could easily do with his sleeping son in his arms, Costas' presence intrigued him. It was obvious that she didn't care for the baby. Not like others who were instantly smitten and making silly faces and sounds. Costa was....well Costa. One thing he remembered was an excessive drinking session on board their first ship and that she was even unrulier than he had ever been. To a certain extent it amused Fells and he liked her just because of it but it also annoyed him a little bit. "It's good to see you here. It's been a while. No more Fleet for you? But it seems you found a good occupation, that suits your personality a little better."She had never been Fleet material in his book.

[ Kova Sh'qalea - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] There was rarely a shortage of patrons at the Blue Beta Bar, and it seemed that tonight was no different. In fact, there may have been more present that evening, and that was likely due to the presence of the Nyberrite Alliance. It was something that Kova had considered briefly... very briefly. In part, she felt that in many ways, it would be more similar than not to Starfleet. And Starfleet had left quite a bitter taste in her mouth after her... departure from the academy. What she had noticed, however, was that recently it seemed that the Nyberrite Alliance had become an attractive alternative to Starfleet. Perhaps the grass was greener on the other side. She lingered at the end of the bar for a while. It was certainly long enough to notice a number of things. One of them being the familiar face of the Andorian-Orion hybrid, Shavan. She watched him a few moments as he seemed to scour the room, looking for trouble. Perhaps it was that Orion labido he was trying to soothe. She also noticed that freighter captain... the one she literally could not understand. Kova swore whatever language she spoke, the universal translator could not decipher. It even seemed that the Captain had made an appearance, but she didn't seem to want to make much of a fuss of it. There were also a lot of white coats in the room. Hell, even some of those white coats were people that had worked on this station as members of Starfleet. Kova sipped her ale, and found she had finished the first one. Her plan had been to have just the one, but she began to think that perhaps a second wouldn't wouldn't hurt. She motioned for the bartender to get her another, and an additional one. She moved from her seat and settled into one that was vacant next to Shavan. About that time, the pair of fresh Andorian ales arrived. "You look like you're looking for something to regret," Kova said. "That's easier to find on this station than you think."[Shavan Th’zhaar, Blue Beta Bar] Shavan wasn’t alone at the bar for long before someone sat next to him. But Kova’s presence was not unwelcome. Nor was the second ale. He flashed the Andorian a grin. Her observation was accurate; he had in fact been starting to find that there was more to this station than the uptight Starfleet institution he’d initially expected. Which suited him just fine. “Oh? Are you speaking from experience?” He raised an eyebrow. “I might sometimes look for trouble, but I try not to regret much.” After finishing his first ale he reached for the second one Kova had ordered. "Thanks.” It was possible that he'd regret that later, assuming he didn't stop drinking after just two, but for now, things were just getting started. tag Kova Sh'qaleq

[Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, RA, PE - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Doug nodded. "I'm afraid you did ruin my revelation," he conceded. "He was... let me put it this way."Doug punctuated his sentence with a little tap on the bar with the side of his hand, like the world's gentlest (or feeblest) karate chop, and then explained. "Are you familiar with the old Terran romantic comedy genre? Or the Kzinti rom-coms?" he asked. "It was, essentially, that." He took another swig. "Captain Leather, Captain Ellis, and myself had just finished the distraction rig on Kerelia. I'd set one of the most expert-level fires of my life, he argued with her, blah blah. Long story short, he and I run off, on her orders, and next thing I know, he's giving me this speech, of the Rom-Com variety, with every motif, no cliché left unturned. He talked about how impressive and lovely she is - which is true, how much they can't get along - fair. I think he mentioned her eyes, and I'm sure he mentioned her mother. Not to mention, he was so flustered, as I recall, to hear it said that I knew that he just dug his hole deeper, and I knew then that I had nailed it. Can't say he'll nail her, though; she's too smart."It wasn't often that Doug got a gem like that confession, and he was getting all the mileage he could out of it, to the best of his recollection. "He was so flustered, he actually, finally, called me 'Sir' Doug afterwards, like he's supposed to. It was a sight to behold; I don't think he would've been more embarrassed if his leather pants had ripped open."Doug took another swig of his glass and waited for a reaction. [Blue Beta Bar & Grill ~> Promenade - Front Ear Station] Caroline picked up her Long Island and took a sip, but then nearly choked when one half of their topic of conversation snuck up on them. The half that could demote her back down to civilian, unfortunately. [Felicity Ellis - Blue Beta Bar & Grill, Promenade]Not wanting to make her presence known quite so soon, she sidled over toward the edge of the bar where she spotted Sir Doug and Caroline. She stayed silent, choosing not to interrupt the El-Aurian's flow as he weaved a story - about her. And Jett. To one of her crew. Her expression darkened, but she was upwind of Sir Doug, and mostly hidden by a decorative column. Spying Harmon enter, she gave him a small, subtle wave and gestured toward the more secluded corner booths. As she pushed off the bar to follow her own direction, she revealed herself to the pair. "If there's nailing to be done," she said smoothly, her voice quiet enough not to be overheard beyond the three of them, "I'll be the one doing it." Her eyes flickered toward Caroline. "Still waiting on that paperwork, Lieutenant." She swallowed her drink hard, the liquor burning a path down her throat instead of pleasantly warming. Sputtering, she quickly tried to answer Ellis. ”Yes ma’am! Of course. I’ve got it… somewhere…” She trailed off as the Captain left, clearly uninterested in hearing excuses. To cover up her unease, she finished what remained in her glass. Heat flushed her cheeks, from either the embarrassment of being caught gossiping about her boss, by her boss or the sudden intake of alcohol. ”Sir Doug? I think I need to go get some air. The bar is awfully crowded all of a sudden.” Caroline set down credits enough to cover both drinks while leaving a nice tip as well. She might have been a bit of a gossip, but she wasn’t rude. ”Rain check for now? We can meet up later, because I’m sure I’ve got a story or two you haven’t heard. Corner booth though next time?”She smiled sheepishly as she scooted off the barstool, her boots hit the floor with a small thud, barely audible in the crowded bar. It hadn’t been an exaggeration, there were quite a few more people here than had been. A lot of those Neber.. Nabisco… Nefertiti… Alliance people were about as well. For some reason, she just couldn’t wrap her mouth around their proper name. The small counselor eased her way out, occasionally there were perks to being diminutive. It was easier to dodge the flow of people coming in. She slipped out the door past… Alliance flags? Had those been there the entire time? Or maybe there was some sort of party for them about to happen. Her slim shoulder shrugged as she walked away, she’d had enough diplomatic parties for a while. Least this bunch appreciated the offerings of the bar. As if reminded, she rummaged in her satchel and popped a fresh stick of gum in her mouth. Thus preoccupied, she didn’t notice the large solid roadblock until she collided with it. The roadblock was a man, one Captain Leather Pants Thomas Jett, himself. She would have groaned, but the man looked somewhat… lost? ”Whoa hey, sorry there. Should have been watching where I was going. They let you wander around the Station without a hallpass, Captain?”She grinned up at him as she asked, but quickly put a respectable distance between them. Rumors tended to spread like wildfire on Front Ear and she had no desire to be in the middle of one. Dugris Zaman Felicity Ellis Thomas Jett

[Felicity Ellis - Blue Beta Bar & Grill, Promenade]She didn't bother hiding the surprised smile at the sound of Harmon's groan in response to her order. Amused and wondering exactly what it was she'd disturbed with her call and very polite request, she continued on her way toward Deck 8. The route was becoming more and more familiar to her; the Blue Beta, owned by her closest friend Leanna Mazal was a favourite haunt for her while on Station. She'd spent much of her time out here on the Mac, but she took the opportunity to stay on Front Ear as much as she could. Not only were her friends in residence here, but also her new little godson, and her brother and his fiancé. Felicity couldn't help but smile again as she relived the moment she'd finally been allowed to rubber-stamp his transfer request... That's a secret, she reminded herself as she stepped into the bar. The happy thoughts quickly fled when Felicity realised just how busy the Nyberrite Alliance had been, and how professionally and seriously they were treating this little event. Not wanting to make her presence known quite so soon, she sidled over toward the edge of the bar where she spotted Sir Doug and Caroline. She stayed silent, choosing not to interrupt the El-Aurian's flow as he weaved a story - about her. And Jett. To one of her crew. "If there's nailing to be done," she said smoothly, her voice quiet enough not to be overheard beyond the three of them, "I'll be the one doing it." Her eyes flickered toward Caroline. "Still waiting on that paperwork, Lieutenant." She moved off, intent once more on getting herself out of sight so she might pick Harmon's brain in relative peace. A drink wouldn't go amiss, though. Spotting Seamus, she gave him a wink and made a drinking motion with her hand. When she reached the empty booth and as soon as Harmon approached, she'd get straight down to business. "Welcome to the Nyberrite Alliance's recruitment drive on Front Ear, Lieutenant." [Blue Beta Bar & Grill ~> Promenade - Front Ear Station] Caroline picked up her Long Island and took a sip, but then nearly choked when one half of their topic of conversation snuck up on them. The half that could demote her back down to civilian, unfortunately. She swallowed her drink hard, the liquor burning a path down her throat instead of pleasantly warming. [Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, RA, PE - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]The look of horror on Doug's face was unmistakable as he was caught by the Captain. His eyes popped out, and his jaw dropped. He needed a lot of good will to be allowed to carry on as he were, to mind his own business, on the station, and this kind of thing wouldn't help. He could just nod limply as his gossip partner fled the scene of the crime. At last, he forced himself to get it together and down a drink. |Deck 31, Crew Gym -> Promenade -> Blue Beta Bar and Grill || lt. Sven Aune | Xander McGrath.| Interactions at a glance: None The two had finished their workout and Sven had changed into his active duty uniform, as much as he loathed it. Eyeing the bar, Doug rather quickly deemed that it was a bad idea to talk to the Nyberrite Alliance lady (he recognized the uniform) and the group that she'd just spoken to. As an ex-officer, he was exactly the kind of person Starfleet would be watching, and he was in enough trouble for his general recklessness without that hanging over him. Thankfully, he recognized the unmissable Sven Aune, from the poker nights. "How do you do?" he asked, regaining the ridiculous, not entirely self-aware, self-confident nature he usually had.

Tag: Ozu Saya [NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Brig --> Blue Beta Bar] Ryah rolled her eyes while Avi's back was turned, then offered a sarcastic smile at the Bolian's words. Unless your business crosses my business, she said sweetly. She sighed as Avi left and followed her out the door a few moments later. On to the next thing, which happened to be a mix of work and pleasure. She had to go to the Blue Beta Bar & Grill, where she would definitely avail herself of some of their good food, but her primary purpose was to check out what the very large Nyberrite Alliance presence was up to. The diminutive chief of security strode down corridors and to a turbolift, her rapid pace making up for short legs. Once on the promenade, Ryah slowed slightly, taking a moment to look out for any problems. She trusted the security officers patrolling, but it was habit to always check for herself. As she entered the bar, Ryah saw the mountain that was called Sven and lifted a hand in greeting, heading his direction. Beside him, she noticed the El-Aurian. She hadn't had any interaction with him, but had heard he could be a bit of a problem sometimes. She wondered what kind and if it would require security. Mr. Aune, she said with a nod. And Sir Doug, is it? I'm Chief Melihn. Nice to meet you.
Sven, just thought I'd warn you, your tormentor is on the loose again. I held her for a few hours and tried to talk to her, but I'm not sure how much good it did. If she ever crosses the line, don't hesitate to actually arrest her. Ryah sighed and shook her head.

[NPC - former Starfleet officer Robyn Banks - Blue Beta Bar Mezzanine] Robyn Banks glanced cautiously down at the lower area of the bar, uncomfortably aware of how many of her former colleagues were around. After her pranks, she'd been demoted by the station's new captain, but she'd chosen to leave the fleet instead. This new regime was far to straitlaced to appreciate good jokes and that just wasn't the type of environment she was interested in working in. She'd planned on leaving the station, but one of the Nyberrite Alliance's recruiters had heard what had happened and approached, offering her a place. It had sounded like a good deal to her, and now she was just waiting to see what this big meeting was about.
