[Blue Beta Bar- Fells Halgerdur] The speech the Colonel had given struck a chord with Fells. It basically hit bulls eye. Every single word she was saying seemed to be aimed straight at him. Deep down Fells wished he had not made the mistakes he had and could simply return to Starfleet. It had always been his desire and his goal. But for Starfleet he was an outcast. They had written him off as a criminal, incarcerated him and didn't even consider given him any sort of low rank job. Helping Lea with the bar was nice...for her mostly. But the bar was her thing, not Fells. He could have settled with flying her freighter but that was gone, too. So he was left with nothing but shame and a no job he was actually qualified for. He had to work hard not to jump up and instantly show his interest. There was something else though. A gutt feeling that told him 'stay away - don't let them lure you in- you'll be in trouble'.
Briefly he snorted as if he wasn't interested and nodded at Costa. "I'd love to take you up on that offer when you go on your next run. Promise not to bring my baby." He gave her a small grin because he had picked up on her aversion. He then poured her a drink and one for himself. "Good thing I'm not breast feeding. I'll leave that to you." He told Lea, who seemed okay with his new endeavors. One of Costas friends or employees arrived so Fells asked him. "What can I get you to drink?"
When the Colonel returned to the bar Fells watched her with a lot of interest. He didn't say anything though. Instead he poured a few shots and asked her, too. "A drink for you as well?" The more he poured, the more income for Lea. "Why are you trying so hard to get recruits?" Was Fells simple question. After all there had to be a purpose to all these efforts. "Equal Starfleet numbers out here at the edge of the universe?"

| Blue Beta Bar and Grill || lt. Sven Aune |Sven rapped his knuckles upon the counter top and it indeed caught the attention of someone. He nodded politely. "I'll go with a water, lemon, no ice. And a Burger Royal. Over easy egg, please."An elderly gentleman approached him. Sven had seen this man around and upon inspection he judged him to be the eccentric type. Or so his clothing would indicate with lots of colors in the pastel range. It actually looked good. Man knew how to dress. "Hey." he said with a smile and offered Doug a large calloused hand. "Lieutenant Sven Aune. Nice to meet you." Sven was working hard to improve relationships between security and the citizens of the station. His primary goal was to ensure that, despite his own size, he was a cool collected man willing to give people the benefit of the doubt. "What brings you in today?" he asked being friendly and making talk. That's when the station chief of security walked in. She held herself with such confidence that Sven had a great admiration for it. She brought him some news. "Avi?" he asked. "Call me a masochist, but I kinda like it. Keeps her busy and makes my day more interesting. So long as it doesn't get out of hand. So, if it does I'll arrest her. She comes off as a hard nut to crack, but I've got this feeling that under it all she's scared and trying to find her place in the universe."He paused for a second. "If I may ask you a quick question. Just a check up, How have I been doing? Anything I should I work on, improve?" he was being sincere. Some things he had learned from Judy and one was, self improvement."_____ [Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, RA, PE - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Doug offered a hand in return for a shake. His skin was comparatively smooth for his age, a byproduct of using the dermal regenerator so often after getting scratched. "Sir Doug Zaman," he introduced himself. "Call me Sir Doug."He was, naturally, a little more composed, but still chivalrous in the old way towards the Chief of Security. "The pleasure is mine," he assured, as he extended a hand to shake. Then, he listened for a bit as they spoke about an individual, "Avi", who vaguely rang a bell to Doug. "The Bolian?" he asked curiously. "Sorry, don't feel any need to answer me. Station's business is station's business."
[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Blue Beta Bar - Promenade, Front Ear Station] "Well, for a start, consider your next drink on me," Vasser said to Costa. She had every confidence that while she had the woman's interest, she likely had her curiosity as well. Usually, when people were thanked it was for something specific. With them not having dealt directly with one another in the past, it likely hinted that she was after something. Vasser wouldn't deny it, and she wouldn't get pulled into a long explanation either. At least not right now. "Let me get back to you on that, Fells," she said as she took note of how he wanted to be addressed. As she left the others and ascended the mezzanine, Vasser shared a few words with her subordinate before she moved into the limelight. She never cared for making speeches, but she enjoyed making points. She enjoyed a lively debate. It was now her chance to help others see things they way they were and not as society would have them accept them to be. "Good evening, everyone. First of all, let me thank you all for coming. I'd also like to once again thank the Blue Beta Bar and her staff, without them, none of this would be possible. And finally, I'd like to thank our station hosts. Captain Ellis and the members of her crew have made us feel nothing short of welcome." She paused a moment and led the applause herself. Her eyes took a moment to focus in Ellis' (last known) direction, confident she may have earned the Captain's eyes and ears. "The main purpose of this evening is to heartily welcome our new recruits to the Nyberrite Alliance. Now, I know the reputation the Alliance has in the eyes of many. That we're a collection of misfit mercenaries. That our masses stem from penal colony parolees to unruly officers drummed out of Starfleet. That our morals fall low as the price of our services increase. Vasser paused as she stared out at those gathered. "But I challenge you to look around this room. The people gathered here aren't misfits. They are your friends... your family. They are simply trying to find a way to meaningfully contribute to their community where they won't be ostracized for choices they made in their pasts.""People seek out the Nyberrite Alliance for a second chance and we welcome them all. Perhaps it's also time that everyone else gave the Alliance a second chance as well. The Alliance is looking to extend its services to better serve our community here. Now, safety and security matters of this station are solely Starfleet's responsibility, and we would not dream of infringing upon our neighbors' sovereignty," Vasser said. "However, we do want to do our part. We want to help local businesses deter piracy and theft by making their association with the Alliance known. We want to ensure that freighters and transports know they can depend on assistance from the Alliance in any form through their association with the alliance.""When I first joined Starfleet, I wanted to be an explorer," Vasser began. "Though, shortly after the Dominion War, I realized what I really wanted to do was protect the concept of piece. Starfleet's first priority is to seek out new life and new civilization. The Alliance would like to support that continuing mission by protecting the piece we have from those that would threaten it. Talents of all sort are welcome in the alliance: those with security experience of course, but medics, engineers, pilots even scientists." Vasser took a deep breath before concluding. "The Nyberrite Alliance pledges to being an open book," Vasser smiled. "Within reason of course. I'm asked that you enjoy yourselves for the evening. You're welcome to engage myself or any of my officers and recruits on why they've chosen the Alliance. I'm also opening my ship, the N.S.S. Soteria to be toured. My staff tells me we'll be prepared to entertain the first groups within the hour. I only ask that you keep an open mind and an open heart. Thank you, and please... enjoy yourselves."Vasser descended from the mezzanine amid some applause, shaking a few hands once she reached the bottom. She did her best to make it back towards the bar, towards the small gathering she had left only moments before. However, the sporadic handshakes made it a much longer walk than it had been before. The one thing she didn't do was seek out Ellis. If the Captain had anything to say, she knew where to find her, but she doubted a lot of what she said was honey to the captain's ears. As she reached the bar, she gestured for a drink. "I'll talk one of what she's having. Anyone else is welcome," she said offering to buy another round of drinks. She then faced the others she had left moments ago. "You may have questions or you may simply want to take your leave. However, you have my money and you have my booze. I'm only hoping that you'll consider hearing me out before writing me off."
| Blue Beta Bar and Grill || lt. Sven Aune | Sven had thanked Jack when he set the water down in front of him. "Thank you."He understood the question he had popped on Melihn was a doozy and understood that it might take some time to fir her to collect her thoughts and respond. He didn't mind. And he was ready to take anything she said, even with non Star Fleet around. After all he did ask in a public place. He rose his glass to his lips and took a sip of water. He was feeling dehydrated especially after that work out. Leg day was always brutal, and anyone who said they liked it were flat out lairs. Setting the glass down he took hand from the eccentric old man. "Sir Doug it is." he said offering a firm shake. "Aye, the Bolian. She's a bit of a troublemaker. But at least she keeps things interesting. Security on a star ship is so boring. Sure you get to fire photon torpedoes at things, but that's not nearly as interesting as all the dynamic interactions with all sorts of people found of stations. Lets face it, uniforms are pretty dull people when they wear them."His attention was caught when a smartly dressed woman had ascended the second level of the promenade. He watched her as he she caught their attention and he frowned. Was this a planned event? Sven remained quiet as she spoke, taking a sip here and there. She was some sort of leader of the Nyberite Alliance. A name that did instill much confidence in the law abiding folks. Often times the same kind of response name dropping the Orion syndicate. However, they mostly kept to themselves on the station and there was, to his knowledge, no known altercation between them and any of the civilian establishments upon the station. Perhaps this charter was trying to make a difference. But why the speech? That didn't make much sense to him. Usually actions speak louder than words, and those humble tended to carry more weight than those that had to point out all the amazing things they were doing. The large man shifted in he seat and continued to listen. She was opening her ship up for a tour? He didn't like the idea of that. Too easy to close the airlock and kidnap a group of people. Well, he could tie that up in red-tape. Safety inspection would obviously need to be done first. He looked to the COS. "Ma'am, I don't like this. A bunch of civilians and Star Fleet personnel touring an unknown ship. Too many unknowns and variables. I'd like to establish a security presence first. And I think that can be done by crossing all our t's and dotting all our lower case j's. Perhaps the ship should undergo a safety inspection first.?"[NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar] Ryah hadn’t expected Sven’s reaction to Avi’s torment nor his serious question in the midst of the social event. She did smile slightly as he answered Doug’s question about Avi. While it would have been questionable for her to do so, Sven, as the victim of her prank, had every right to speak of it. Before she could formulate any kind of reply, a female began speaking from the mezzanine, drawing the attention of most of the crowd. Ryah turned and leaned against the bar to listen to the speech. Peace, she thought as the woman descended. But at what cost? It seemed odd to be making such a recruitment speech to a group made up largely of Starfleet officers. Turning back to face Doug and Sven, she finally responded, If you have no real problem with Avi, then I’ll instruct the others to leave her alone unless she commits an actual crime. I’ll leave the call up to you whether she’s pushed things too far. Just let me know.
As to your question - you’re doing fine. Believe me, you’d know if I had any problems with you. She said this with a smile up at the man towering over her. She seriously considered his concerns about the NA, but also understood that station security couldn’t treat them any differently than other residents. Lieutenant, I understand your concern, and even share it to an extent; however, their ship already passed inspection upon its arrival, and we can’t detain them further without cause. We’ll remain vigilant, as always, with regular security sweeps of the station, and I’ll bring your concerns to the captain. I think I see her over there. It was difficult for her to tell for sure, with the milling people and her lack of stature.

The speech was... grandiose, a little self-righteous, pompous. Doug didn't have an especially positive perspective of the Nyberrite Alliance, but Vasser was something special. "She sure wants to make a statement, doesn't she?" he asked rhetorically, after the officers had finished their business-y interaction. "She's calling out for attention, and not subtly either. Kinda reminds me of my... 17th wife. She was a real egotist. In hindsight, I'm kinda glad it didn't work out with her."

It was curiosity more than anything that brought Rio to the meeting, after all, there were better things to do on a day off, but this promised the chance for some entertainment. And as Security, even though she wasn't on duty, didn't mean she wouldn't get involved if something happened. And as Security, she did have a phaser concealed under satin jacket, not that she thought it was going to be necessary.
Sitting in the back of the room, she listened to the spiel, allowing as how it sounded all right, that most of what they said made sense. Of course, it depended on how you looked at the organization from the start...some saw pure mercenaries, out for profit regardless, others saw opportunistic mercenaries, looking to advance an agenda at a profit, and others saw something more akin to a charity, mercenaries helping just causes...for a profit.
Regardless, there obviously wasn't enough bad dirt on them to shut them down, so they were allowed to make their case, and if people wanted to buy into it, that was their choice.
She wasn't buying.
But, the offer to take a tour of their ship caught her attention...something to do, and something different...she'd go along on that! And when she caught Sven's comment on the safety, she figured it wouldn't hurt to have Security along, although she was sure that the vessel had been vetted, or it likely wouldn't be docked here at all.
She stood and dropped her latte cup in the recycler, then wandered closer to the group that seemed interested in the tour.

[Blue Beta Bar]We don't have enough on them because we can't monitor them, he thought to himself with frustration. He followed the captain's eyes as she looked over towards the Colonel who was talking with Leanna and Fells. He couldn't help but wonder if Fells was considering joining up. He certainly fit the profile of a common Alliance recruit. "I can go through security footage to see who she meets with," he nodded in agreement. "I'll have her monitored more closely as well, though I may need to second some people from Security to help. Probably not many, but I'm not sure my two staff will be enough to keep up with regular duties and this." Getting willing recruits to chat would be uniquely difficult. There was little incentive or leverage he could use to get them to flip. He didn't have the authority to provide any sort of reward to them and blackmail would be unlikely to work given the Alliance's willingness to take just about anyone who passed their selection training. "I'll look out for potential recruits we may be able to turn, but I'm not confident. It may be more feasible to send in someone undercover," of course that had its own problems and could be quite difficult given how frustratingly diligent the Alliance could be. He mind quickly began running through possible scenarios and ways to approach the problem. He could get the information the Captain wanted, he just needed to find the right person.
He noticed, and was sure the captain did too, that the Colonel was moving to the mezzanine, most likely to address the room. Picking up his drink from the table, he leaned back in the booth and made himself comfortable, taking another drink. "This will be interesting, at least," he said to the captain without moving his eyes from the mezzanine. [Felicity Ellis - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]"Take whoever you need," Felicity told Harmon when he mentioned his department might need assistance. "We'll need to loop Chief Melihn and her people in on our plan, but as much as possible I'd like to keep this quiet." The prospect of sending someone in undercover would also depend on them being as covert as possible. Her fingers tapped on the side of the whiskey tumbler. "Judging by those with whom the Colonel seems to be speaking, we should be able to develop a shortlist of potentials based on certain criteria."Movement caught her eye, and she turned her attention to the Colonel in question as she extracted herself from her audience, and returned to the mezzanine. Felicity watched over her glass, a brow arching again at Harmon's words. "Is it too much to ask that she turn out to be completely lacking in charisma and deathly afraid of public speaking?"Or that she slips down the stairs? Well now, that was very uncharitable of her. She'd hate for the Nyberrite Alliance to sue the bar over a slippery step. She waved at Jack, trying to get his attention for another refill. She might as well settle in for the speech; then she could try and subtly gauge the damage from the sidelines.

Harmon quickly downed the rest of his drink before responding. "I've got some ideas, I'll do some quick research and write up a list of potential assets we could use." Vasser then began her speech. Unfortunately, the captains was wrong and she turned out to have sort of snake oil salesman type of charisma. She certainly had confidence. It was an insufferable, specious and deceitful speech. Sure, some of the recruits here may not be 'misfits' but that doesn't change the fact much of the Alliance are. Even so, in Harmon's mind anyone joining the Alliance sold out morals regardless of if they used to be 'misfits' or not. Vasser refered providing second chances, but second chance but for who? Murders? Liars? Cheats? Traitors? They deter piracy, sure but for who? Only those who could afford it. Harmon recalled one case where a mining colony was victim of pirates leading one large corporation to hire the Alliance. That corporation was protected, but smaller, poorer mining communities were devastated by pirates as they could not afford to pay the Alliance's protection racket. He knew one of the miners killed in raids. His village was only a few miles away from the Alliance encampment. They could see the pirates attack and could have easily stopped it, but the village hadn't paid a protection fee so they were left to a futile attempt to fend for themselves. Of course the Alliance technically did nothing illegal and the incident went unnoticed by most. Shortly after the war the Alliance was protecting a small colony near the Badlands from raiders. However, the Alliance increased its asking price part way through the contract citing changing circumstances. When the colony could no longer afford to pay the Alliance simply left. Harmon was part of a team investigating them for allegedly colluding with the raiders, providing information about the colony's defences, however they could never find enough evidence to prove it. Vasser then went on to preach of peace, but at what cost? She pledged the Alliance would be an 'open book' yet they were notoriously secretive about their client list, internal structure, and finances. Despite all this, he knew that her speech would no doubt attract and win over at least some of the people assembled. He was determined to bring them down if he could. "If that's all you need from me, captain, I'll get working on that report for you?" he asked, the frustration in his voice from Vasser's speech apparent.

[ Jack - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] Jack acknowledged Sven's thanks with a smile, knowing that the kitchen would be done with his order shortly as Felicity caught his attention, with her silent request for a refill. The Irishman was more than happy to oblige, especially when it came to Flick Ellis, the woman who he would happily like to take out on a date sometime. It was more of an unrequited love on his part, what with his children and the busy life he led, to keep them fed. Still wishful thinking as Bindi came out with Sven's burger, whilst he excused himself to take Flick's drink over, which he did, whilst listening to the Colonel giving her speech. Not that he was overly interested in what was said as he had a job to do. " There's more of that, for when you need it" He said with a grin as he placed the glass down in front of Flick. [Blue Beta]
Harmon quickly downed the rest of his drink before responding. "I've got some ideas, I'll do some quick research and write up a list of potential assets we could use." [Felicity Ellis - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]"Thanks, Jack," she said with an attempt at a smile. It was very likely that after this, she'd need plenty more where that came from. "Would you let Leanna know that I'll be over soon?" She was overdue for some godson cuddles, and there was only so long the Captain could stay in the corner, trying to covertly plan scuppering the Nyberrite Alliance's recruitment drive. Once Jack left she picked up her fresh drink and nodded at Harmon. Felicity didn't bother telling him that time was of the essence, or to keep her in the loop - that was implied and the man wasn't stupid. Instead, she mused, "I'd like to think that our people won't be tempted, but I'd also like to prepare for the worst." She was aware that assignment to Front Ear wasn't viewed as favourably as others, and if Crewman Lynch's defection was anything to go by, that lack of upward movement was something felt by a few. Even if their career stagnation was due to their own incompetence. Then, Vasser began to speak. [NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Blue Beta Bar - Promenade, Front Ear Station] [...] "Good evening, everyone. Thank you, and please... enjoy yourselves."[...] Felicity gave a polite nod when the Colonel looked in her direction. The tone had been set; and the playing field would be political. Vasser was good, she'd give her that. She was practiced, impassioned about her people and, most importantly considering this crowd, former Fleet. Command had neglected to provide that little nugget of intelligence. Once the woman had moved on with her address, Felicity focused her attention on the people listening, a sense of discomfort settling when she clocked the expressions on some of their faces. Oh, crap. "If that's all you need from me, captain, I'll get working on that report for you?" he asked, the frustration in his voice from Vasser's speech apparent. She was taking a generous gulp of whiskey, watching as Vasser shook hands like she'd just won a presidential primary, when Harmon seemed to move into action. "Thank you, Lieutenant, go ahead. Let me know if you need anything." Drink in hand, she moved to rise herself. Her expression was somewhat pained. "Guess I should go mingle." Then she schooled her features into something a sight more pleasant, and slipped into the crowd.

[ Brooke - Private Quarters] It wasn't difficult for Brooke to let out a sigh of happiness as Greg responded to her kiss, before lifting her off of her feet, which in some respects just made her want to kiss him more. Yes they were a very romantic and loving couple, but having this kind of news was as easily matched to some of the other important events that had happened to them, especially since their engagement and moving out to Front Ear. Still wearing a very happy and content smile when Greg placed her back on the floor, enjoying the extra quick light kisses that he gave her, before he held her face in his hands and ran his thumb across her cheek. That particular move always got a reaction from her, as he then pulled her into a tight hug, loving the closeness and the way he spoke as he nuzzled her hair. To have him home for the run up to the wedding, to have a proper honeymoon and just as importantly have him home every night was just something she had only dreamed about, but now it was their reality and she couldn't wait to have that extra time with him. " We did Babe, I'm so looking forward to us having all of this extra time together, to have the wedding, a proper honeymoon and now I can change my hours so we get home every night together and I can have a meal ready for us .... maybe even take an extra day off from time to time".There was so much that they could do now and plan better because of fate finally smiling down on them, with this transfer and how they could enjoy one another more. [Gregory Ellis - Private Quarters]"I can't believe how much things have improved for me since this time last year," Greg said, his voice at first a little far away with memory. "We've a place here, you've got the Bakery and we're getting married next month." So much had happened, so quickly; a testament to a pair who both had known exactly what it was that they wanted when they met. Then he chuckled at the idea of her having a dinner ready for them in the evenings. "I'll take my turn, I promise! Though I may need a few lessons..." It was no secret that Greg was a terrible cook. He could replicate with the best of them, but in comparison to his fiancé's talent with food, he was worse than even the most rank amateur. He'd been well and truly spoiled with freshly cooked meals and delicious baked goods. And while she was the obvious choice for such things, he couldn't let her do all the work! "Speaking of food, though, have we decided if we're doing sit-down table service or buffet?"There was a lot to do, and even with the good news, they should probably get down to some wedding business before they went out to celebrate. "Have you heard from your dad? I got a few RSVPs back from some of the Leeds crew." With a lingering hand on the small of her back, Greg stepped away from their embrace to catch her eye. "And my mother called again."He hated bringing it up; but she was a persistent, stubborn woman, and there was only so long he could avoid talking about her. He suppressed a sigh, but gave Brooke an encouraging smile. "Once we get through this, let's go meet the others for a drink at the bar."

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] As Shavan asked if she were speaking from experience, Kova tilted her head to the side, unsure of how wise it would be to affirm such a statement. "Perhaps," she answered simply as she nursed the glass of ale in her hand. He stated that he might be look for trouble on occasion, but didn't regret much. Kova turned her eyes on him. She wasn't sure if it was his Andorian arrogance, his Orion optimism, or simply youthful indifference which had fueled that statement. She scoffed, shaking her head slightly. "Spoken like someone without regrets. The uniform will change that. It always collects its due."She lifted her glass to her lips and then took a sip of the blue liquid. As he thanked her for the drink she nodded. "No need for thanks," she said. "Just return the favor some time." Andorians preferred not to be in someone's debt, but they did always collect when someone was indebted to them. She glanced around the bar briefly, noting the growing crowd and assuming the numbers had something to do with the Nyberrite Alliance. "This place seems pretty popular tonight. Pretty fertile for all that trouble you're looking for." She smiled slightly at the comment as she sipped from her glass once again. "But be careful. You never know, trouble may find you first."[Shavan Th’zhaar, Blue Beta Bar] Kova was definitely speaking from experience now. He looked at her with a little more seriousness at her comment about the uniform. Maybe she’d had a different experience, but Starfleet was supposed to be his way out of real trouble, not the source of it. Of course he didn’t think it would be easy, but he could move on if he had to. Maybe even to this Nyberrite Alliance that was continuing to draw a crowd to the restaurant behind them. “Maybe.” If he did have things to regret he wasn’t going to start spilling all the details just yet. At Kova’s comment that trouble might find him first he returned the smile. “I’m not sure that it hasn't already.” he said eyeing her. “Either way, I’ll be happy to return the favor.”He sipped his ale while someone from the Nyberrite Alliance made a speech, loud enough for them to hear. Shavan didn’t actually want to throw away his Starfleet career just yet, after all it took to get here, but he did like to keep his opportunities open. Although all that stuff about community and cooperating with Starfleet sounded very possibly like a load of targ dung. “What do you think of all that, then?” He asked Kova, trying a slightly less personal question. “I’d be tempted to sign up right now, if I believed any of it.”

[Blue Beta Bar- Fells Halgerdur]
The speech the Colonel had given struck a chord with Fells. "What can I get you to drink?"When the Colonel returned to the bar Fells watched her with a lot of interest. He didn't say anything though. Instead he poured a few shots and asked her, too. "A drink for you as well?" The more he poured, the more income for Lea. "Why are you trying so hard to get recruits?" Was Fells simple question. After all there had to be a purpose to all these efforts. "Equal Starfleet numbers out here at the edge of the universe?"[Blue Beta] About ten minutes later, Alex entered the bar, looking around for his Captain as he moved to the side of the door. Technically, he didn't have to show up, he was off duty, but there was something inticing about her offer. Free booze was never to be turned down. Spotting her, he sauntered over toward where she was, speaking when he got close. "Oye, Costa. Keting xiya?"1
1: Hello, Costa. What's going on?
[Costa - Blue Beta, Bar Area]Costa actually laughed when Halgerdur promised not to bring his baby. Unabashedly, she grinned, and offered a shrug. She was obviously very transparent when it came to the subject of the noisy, needy creatures, but she didn't exactly care. "Deal," she told her former colleague, mischief in the flash of her dark eyes for a brief moment. She picked up the rum he'd poured for her and nursed it for a few moments while both he and Leanna Mazal put Vasser on the spot with questions of their own. It was a good time to share a quick, quieter word with Alex Hust, who had just arrived. "Mi make yi kopeng, Husty¹," she said with some cheek, trying and failing for innocent nonchalance. She was leaning against the bar, left hand down by her waist. In a smooth movement she rotated her wrist, index finger pointed, making a sign for around, or all. He would notice the officers with the striking uniforms, she was sure, but what she didn't know was what he knew about them. Then, a little louder she asked, "Keting, mi mowteng wa reason fo ge mi tugut belówtwala wa rowm?²" She smiled and raised her glass to her lips.

It had been difficult getting out of the quarters he shared with his mother with the thing, and he'd had to get changed in the bathroom facilities before arriving at the Blue Beta, but he wasn't ready to tell Peggy that he'd resigned from Starfleet yet. She'd kill him. Have his guts for garters. Margaret Lynch historically had little patience for her contrary son, but this move would surely push her over the edge. "Evenin' to ye."
"Evenin'."
"Lookin' well, so ye are."
"Is that a new hat on yer auld head there?"
"How are ye?"He thought it was right for him, though, and that's what was important. Starfleet had not been kind to him, despite all of his best efforts to be good. The Alliance seemed to understand that, and wanted to reward him for his loyalty. He was there to tell the others how great things had been since he'd moved. That he'd been accepted without question, that the work was fulfilling. But as soon as he spied the gathering group of Sec/Tac personnel, Lynch made a sharp right turn away from them. He continued to greet and exchange words with a few less challenging folks while on his way to find the cheese.

Tag: Leanna Mazal (Brooke). [ Brooke - Private Quarters] With Greg in a reminiscing mood, Brooke always loved to listen whenever he spoke about himself or them as a couple and this was no different, especially when he mentioned about their new life on Front Ear. There was no doubt that things had gotten even better and she honestly couldn't wait to become Mrs Ellis in as little as four weeks time. Yet she wouldn't change a single thing about it either, because she was meant be with the man, who cared so much. " I know, I have to pinch myself sometimes at how lucky I've been to have the kind of life, I've always dreamed about" she replied softly as he then vowed to take his turn when it came to cooking meals and how he would need a few lessons. Brooke loved how he was willing to try so she didn't have to do everything which earned him a quick kiss as she answered him. " Sounds good to me and you know, I don't mind teaching you".Not only did she enjoy cooking in all its forms, but she also liked teaching, although could just imagine how it would go and it sounded like a lot of fun. As talk then turned to what kind of food they should go for, when it came to their wedding, Brooke quite liked the idea of a buffet rather than a sit down meal, especially when it came to catering for those with different dietary needs. " I think we should go with a buffet, much easier and less stressful than trying to cater a sit down meal".Knowing how important it was for them to discuss the final details now or at least begin too as Greg then asked about her Dad, as well as mentioning the responses he had received from some of the Leeds crew. That was good to hear, until he brought up the subject of Antoinette, that even the way his hand lingered on her back, couldn't take away. " I have and he'll get here a couple of days before it and that's good about those from the Leeds".Saving her comments about his Mother, knowing that he didn't like bringing her up but knew that they couldn't ignore it, especially with the smile he gave her, followed by his suggestion of going to get a drink when they had gotten through this. " I like that idea and I know we can't ignore her ..... I honestly don't know what to do".Taking a moment to switch the cakes over and take out the first two, Brooke placed them on the counter, then returned her attention to her husband to be, hoping they could think of something regarding his Mother.

[Intelligence Office]
Harmon returned to his office and quickly began compiling brief dossiers on certain possible recruits with the help of Hudson. It didn't take long with them working together. She made some comments on the dossiers when she insisted she 'proof read them' and once the changes were made he sent them to the Captain. The messages were coded to self wipe after 6 hours. Unfortunately, he sent the wrong file attachment and instead of sending the final copy sent the unedited files with Hudson's comments.
Once that was sent, unknown to either Intel officer that they'd sent the wrong one, he gave Hudson an assignment. "Our war criminal merc friends are putting on a tour and meet and greet. Take one of our hidden cameras and have a look, pretend you want to join because you're career isn't going anywhere and you're stuck in this shithole." Hudson nodded and went to go find an undercover camera before doing a double take, "Wait...," she said seeming genuinely hurt. "You think my career is going nowhere?" She spoke softly and without her usual bubbly persona. Despite all the teasing and hard time she gave Harmon, she liked working for him and cared about his opinion, though she'd never admit it.
"Just go, hurry up!" he said with frustration. After a moment he noticed, especially given the lack of a quip back from her, that he'd upset her. He got up and followed her. "I'm sorry. Your career is going fine, you're an ensign who drew the short straw on postings. In fact, its going brilliantly. You're doing more complex and more meaningful tasks, and you're being given more responsibility than any other ensign I know. You're going places, you'll be Admiral in no time," he smiled nervously. He did mean what he said, he wasn't one for giving out undeserved compliments. She smiled slightly and then went back to work with Harmon leaving her in peace and returning to his office.
He activated his communicator. "Harmon to the cap'n. I've run those system diagnostics you requested. They've been sent to you."

Halgerdur's question drew her attention away from the Colonel. "Can do tha'," she responded, thinking that a training session or two wouldn't be a high price to pay in return for the couples' continued good will. "Dog does a regular run ta Sierra, ya welcome ta tag along fo' one if ya wanna ge some on-the-job experience."Vasser was finishing up her kool-aid pitch, providing a welcome distraction from all of the baby stuff. She held up her glass, ready for a refill, and gave the woman an appraising look as she began the journey through the hand-shakers back toward the bar. When she reached the group and asked to be heard, Costa snorted with amusement. "Colonel, would listen ta ya sing the alphabet if drunk 'nough."About ten minutes later, Alex entered the bar, looking around for his Captain as he moved to the side of the door. Technically, he didn't have to show up, he was off duty, but there was something inticing about her offer. Free booze was never to be turned down. Spotting her, he sauntered over toward where she was, speaking when he got close. "Oye, Costa. Keting xiya?"1 Then her attention was on the Colonel as Vasser addressed everyone in the bar, listening to what seemed to be a very well rehearsed speech. Whilst she understood where the Alliance was coming from and their message, she still wasn't fully convinced as to what their true motives were. Of course she wasn't one to judge, not unless it was absolutely necessary, nor did she want to be on the wrong side of them. However wouldn't comment just yet and decided to see how things panned out and whether they were true to their word or not. As Vasser then finished and made her way back to them, Lea was still very much the perfect hostess as she asked for a drink. Seamus pouring a good measure and placing it in front of her, as she offered to pay for a round of drinks. Then as she faced them and asked them to hear her out, because of the money she had gave them and to have some booze. Lea considered it for a moment as Costa was the first to respond to both the drink and what Vasser was asking. Liking the amusement in the Captain's tone, as she spoke to the Colonel, before Costa was joined by a man she recognised as being part of her crew, acknowledging Hust politely. " I'm willing to hear you out Colonel".He then poured her a drink and one for himself. "Good thing I'm not breast feeding. I'll leave that to you." He told Lea, who seemed okay with his new endeavors.
One of Costas friends or employees arrived so Fells asked him. "Equal Starfleet numbers out here at the edge of the universe?"[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] In so many ways, addressing the crowd was far more easier than these more intimate inquisitions. It hadn't started out that way, but Vasser had no doubt it could evolve into just that. Either way, she had no intention of trying to avoid it. The best way to achieve her own goals would be to meet the challenge head on. Avoidance would only feed whatever whispers of paranoia were lurking about. And she could feel it in the air, even when she traversed the room. There were those that they wouldn't even bother to listen to her words, to examine her argument. No, they accepted everything from Starfleet on blind faith, believing the fleet was so righteous that it could do no wrong. They were so focused on corruption invading from the outside that they were oblivious to the corruption within. She could only imagine the plots and the slander that were being cooked up them all. All with the exception of their captain. Vasser assumed Ellis would be too bright to resort to something as volatile as slander. No, surely the captain was far more cunning than that. As Fells offered to pour her a drink, Vasser nodded. "Yes. Thank you," she said to the drink. She wasn't sure how much comfort she took in the responses she got from each of them. Costa was willing to sit for the rum, and her colleague would likely follow his captain's lead, which said a great deal. Alex Hust. He wasn't very high on Vasser's list, but if it meant bringing in Costa, she'd take him as well despite the grief the man would likely put her CMO through. She felt that Lea was willing to listen, but possibly more out of obligation than interest. Yet, that could change because of Fells. She listened to his question about why she was trying so hard to recruit people. She chuckled slightly as he suggested she was possibly trying to equal Starfleet's numbers in the region. "If I may speak freely, the Alliance is not getting into a pissing contest with Starfleet," Vasser answered. "We're simply providing people with an option and an opportunity they didn't have before." "This is the Alliance's backyard, and there is a vested interest in maintaining its stability." Vasser took a deep breath before speaking further. "As far as my personal motives go, I may be trying hard to land some prospective recruits, but that's because I want the best." Vasser finally knocked back the shot of rum she had been holding, and then turned her eyes to each of them gathered. "I've done my homework. I know for one reason or another, the fleet gave up on you. It was their loss, and not a mistake I plan to repeat given the opportunity."Vasser looked at each of them, wondering if her words had phased them in the least. "I'm hoping that you'll at least entertain the idea of working with or joining the Alliance before dismissing it altogether," Vasser commented. "I have my own vision of how each of you could contribute, but I think it's only fair to hear from you how you see your potential involvement." Vasser took a deep breath. "Typically, someone may pull you aside and promise you a private moon and more. But as I said, I believe in transparency and am willing to discuss it all right here openly."

Kova was definitely speaking from experience now. “I’d be tempted to sign up right now, if I believed any of it.”[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] Kova smirked and shook her head. "If you're not sure, then you're definitely already in over your head," the Andorian remarked. Shavan stated that he would be happy to return the favor. Something she would hold him to. However, it was made clear that this wasn't just another casual night in the Blue Beta Bar as the woman from the Nyberrite Alliance spoke. What started off as a greeting turned into something much more by its end. Kova watched the woman as she descended the stairs, but more importantly how people reacted to those words. She had seen this before, particularly in the short time that she had worked with the Maquis. People were always looking for somewhere to belong, and the Nyberrite Alliance was making an effort at letting them know they could belong with them. Her eyes were torn from the woman as Shavan asked what he thought of all that. He said that he'd be tempted to sign up if he believed anything she'd just said. "I think she spoke a truth to a lot of people," Kova replied. "If you don't believe her, then she wasn't speaking to you. Those she was referencing heard her loud and clear." Kova took a deep breath. It wasn't that joining the Nyberrite Alliance hadn't crossed her mind before. Though, even she had to admit, for the first time in a long time, it sounded like what Vasser said it was: another option. A choice. Something that had been taken away from her some time ago.

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] Kova smirked and shook her head. "If you're not sure, then you're definitely already in over your head," the Andorian remarked. [Shavan Th’zhaar, Blue Beta Bar] When Kova said he was in over his head his smile widened. “I’ll take my chances.”
But then it seemed that Kova's interest was caught by Vasser’s words, and she wasn’t the only one. Whether she was correct in her assessment that the speech wasn’t meant for him... It wasn’t that the words meant nothing to him, or that he had nothing in common with the people who were the target audience. He did, only, maybe right now he was on an opposite path. Shavan was a misfit in Starfleet. But that fact only made him determined to carve a place for himself there in spite of it. Starfleet was his second chance, his other choice. But it hadn’t exactly been handed to him at some fancy reception; like anything he wanted, he had to take it. “I heard it.” he said more quietly. “She just made it sound too good to be true.” He downed the last of his ale. “But if you want to go talk to her, then let’s go.” Shavan gestured to where the group was gathering a few seats down the bar. He might be skeptical of what Vasser was selling, but he wasn’t one to turn down another free drink. Tag Kova Sh'qaleq

Halgerdur's question drew her attention away from the Colonel. "Can do tha'," she responded, thinking that a training session or two wouldn't be a high price to pay in return for the couples' continued good will. Tag: Leanna Mazal , Alexa Costa , Alex Hust , Fells Halgerdur [Blue Beta Bar - Fells] Fells was surprised to hear that Lea was willing to listen to Vesser. He would have expected her to be more careful and for her Betazoid antennas to pick up the ladies' real intentions. He mixed her a longdrink, that he had learned from Seamus, with a generous dash of whiskey while he listened. It was almost as if she was directing word only at him while she was looking at everyone else. Fells really had to work hard not to show his interest. "So you're giving people a second chance...to do what? What's the objective ...the goal of your alliance if not to be competition to Starfleet?" It was Aven, who seemed to pick up on something and started fuzzing. Fells gently rubbed his back but this time he didn't want to stop so he bounced him a little. "Excuse me." Fells then turned away and when he passed Lea, reached for her hand to pull her in a quiet corner. "I know you usually don't do this....can you read her intentions? Is this a genuine offer?" He was aware that Lea did not read people without their consent.

[ Jack - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] [ " You're very welcome, only the best for my favourite Captain" Jack replied, meaning every word of the compliment that he gave Flick, even if it did sound a little cheesy. That in itself reminded him of his wayward cousin and another reason, why he wasn't so interested in what the Alliance had to offer. At the mention of Lea, Jack smiled as he acknowledged the South African beauty. " Sure I'll let her know".Drinks delivered, Jack moved off back through the crowd in order to pass on the message to his Boss.
*********************** [ Leanna - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] The fun conversation of a few minutes ago, seemed to vanish in an instant after Fells had poured drinks, including one for himself, before Vasser's reappearance and subsequent request to hear her out. Whilst Lea had been willing to at least listen, she didn't blame Fells for getting to the point and asking her outright. Now it would be interesting to see what the Colonel had to say to that, as Costa spoke with her companion and Jack passed on the message about Flick. Lea was definitely looking forward to catching up with her best friend, especially after this particular conversation. However for now, her attention was on the Alliance's Leader as she answered Fells' questions. So far it seemed that her Fiance had been right and the Colonel wasn't hiding anything, wondering how many times Vasser had said this to people, which left her with an feeling of uncertainty, despite her convincing words. Then came the revelation about how she had done her homework on those who the fleet had given up on and she could of just been speaking to Fells directly. That was unnerving to say the least, even more so when she got to the real reason why she had wanted to talk to them. There it was laid out with no pretence about how she wanted them to either join or work alongside the Alliance, about how she had a vision of how that would work but wanted to hear from them first. Now that it was all laid out, Lea didn't like the sound of it and was beginning to get the feeling, that the Alliance wouldn't stop until it got what it wanted. The Bar Owner was saved from being the first to comment as Fells spoke to Vasser and questioned her further. Hoping that he wasn't considering joining, before Aven became unsettled and Fells excused himself, but not before he took hold of her hand and she followed, sensing his urgency in doing so. She knew what he was asking and it went against everything she upheld when it came to using her abilities. " I don't know, it's difficult to tell with so many people around and without reading her further with permission. Although I get the feeling that if we turn her down, she won't give up until we say yes or make our life difficult in the process, until we have no choice but to accept" she replied quietly. " We better get back over there and see what she knows about us, plus Flick will be joining us soon".
