[NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Security Chief's Office] approximately one month after the events of Call of DutyRyah leaned back in her chair and steepled her fingers, staring at her mug of half-drunk cappuccino. She'd spent the last few hours reading through reports and thinking about the ongoing operation to infiltrate the Nyberrite Alliance. She was uncomfortable with the whole undercover thing, especially with mostly civilians being the ones putting themselves in danger. Thankfully, the whole operation was under Lt. Harmon's purview. After her own poor attempts at recruiting, Ryah figured she'd leave any such things to him in the future. She'd rather just take them out with a phaser rifle if it came to it. And there was a semi-formal reception later for a group of people called the Kurjarians at which she intended to be present as a senior officer. Ryah was glad she didn't have to put on her dress uniform; it made her look like a little girl playing dress-up. She preferred the one-piece jumpsuit style uniform - no bulk to get in her way. With a sigh, the chief of security took a final sip of her cappuccino and regretfully put the rest back into the replicator to be taken away. She headed out of her office and toward the promenade to do a brief patrol before joining the reception.

[Command Centre]Harmon let out a loud yawn and stretched his arms. He'd been up for a while, hadn't slept well and had already been in Ops for a few hours bored out of his mind. With Captain Ellis off gallivanting around with the Mac and Commander Eastman deciding to take a well deserved (though he'd never admit it) day off, Lieutenant Harmon was left in charge of the day to day operations of the station as Officer of the Day. Soon things would be at least a little more interesting. A ship of Kurjarian tribesmen were set to visit in a cultural exchange. Not that that was particularity interesting, especially given he wouldn't get to interact with them while he was stuck in Ops, it was however, martially more interesting than staring out into the abyss of space all day and listening to tedious reports from the duty officers. "Sir, the Kurjarian transport Mornuta has dropped out of warp and is requesting permission to dock," the Ops officer reported. "Very good. Direct them to Docking Bay 1. Have their pre-arranged escort meet them," he said before tapping his comm-badge. "Commander Eastman. Chief Melhin. Lieutenant Harmon here. The Kurjarian transport is docking now."
A few weeks prior to their visit, the crew was given the opportunity to volunteer to chaperone and give a tour of the station to their visitors. The goal was that some of the Kurjarians, around fifteenth-twenty or so all up were visiting, some were going to split off into groups to "immerse" themselves in the Front Ear environment. Harmon had no idea what exactly that meat, but he understood it was effectively a glorified tour of the station where they'd see how the crew lived and talk about their culture. There was also to be a group of them chilling in the Blue Beta Bar and Grill where they would meet and talk with anyone who was interested and teach them about Kurjarian culture. [Docking Bay - Kurjarian Delegation]
The Kurjarians were a minority species from nearby Caldonia. Not a lot was known about them or the Caldonians either really. [ Leanna Mazal & Brooke Ellis - Blue Beta & Grill] The last few weeks had been incredibly hard for Leanna, as her life seemed to crumble all around her following Fells's decision to leave the station. Even though they had both agreed that it was the right thing for him to do, owing to how he had struggled to adapt to life on Front Ear since his release, it didn't make it any easier on either of them or their children. So after one last memorable day and night, were they hadn't left their quarters, Lea had just about held it together as she saw him depart in one of the passing freighter's that would take him to the Alpha Quadrant and beyond. Of course once he had gone, it took all of her resolve not to break down the moment, the ship had left and found herself walking back home as if she was on autopilot. For the first week, she answered no calls and cut herself off from everyone, not wanting to see or talk to anyone, for fear of feeling their pity and sympathy. Unlike last time when she had lost Ari's Father, she wasn't about to run away and hide for months, in order to rebuild and deal with how she felt. Then the realisation hit that despite promises to stay in touch, that he wasn't going to come back and it wouldn't be because he wanted too and as her dreams of their future, of their wedding and growing old together, dissolved around her. A new Leanna emerged, strong and determined, with a refusal to let her heartbreak consume her. That's when she started to let everyone in again, just in time for Greg and Brooke's wedding and even though she was hurting internally, refused to let it ruin her role as Maid of Honour or for spending time with those closest too her. Her parents arrival to meet Aven had also come at the right time, which had allowed her to take part without worrying about the kids. In fact since they were here for a few more weeks, it had allowed her to resume her new hours at work. She would be lying if she hadn't been worried about their reaction to finding herself as a single mother of two but luckily for her, it had been nothing but positive with lots of support from them and her friends. So here she was in the bar, awaiting the arrival of their guests for what would be an informal reception for them and hopefully this one wouldn't be so drama filled as the last one that was held in the bar. Not that she thought much of that particular evening what with everything that happened since then. The Betazoid was also grateful to Brooke, who had wanted to help out and also take part in the cultural exchange with the Kurjarian's. She knew that she didn't have too but appreciated it all the same and spending time with the new Mrs Ellis. Both women were currently in the dining area after ensuring everything was in place to welcome their guests properly and Brooke was the first to notice the five of them arrive. " Lea, looks like our guests have arrived" she said quietly as she gestured towards them discreetly. " So they have, thanks Brooke, lets go welcome them".All smiles and her dark eyes shining brightly, Lea led the way over and greeted them warmly. " Welcome to the Blue Beta, I'm Leanna and this is my good friend Brooke".

| Blue Beta Bar and Grill || lt. Sven Aune | Xander McGrath | Interactions: Sven -> XanderXander -> SvenSven -> LeaSven and Xander had just returned to the station the previous day. A long trek from Risa, where, Sven was still riding the high of having won first place for the super heavyweight human class in the Spartan Pro body building competition. It was a long awaited win and one that he had been working hard for. A string of 2nd's and 3rd's finally broken. He walked along the promenade in his casual clothes. His usual tank top, jeans and boots. His arm draped lazily over Xander's shoulder as they meandered the brightly lit causeways. Xander was wearing a black t-shirt, tight pants and black Converse chuck sneakers. Xander was taciturn and quiet, as usual. He spoke "You know, that whole mess with the Nyberrite alliance."Sven nodded, "Ya. I heard there were more altercations in the bar after I left with that puking Zarkdorn." It was a disgusting affair, but not as atrocious as that horrid sergeant Grosk. Xander frowned. "I didn't want to tell you during your competition. But they contacted me."
Sven stopped walking, and gave his boyfriend a concerned look. "They offered me a position. Utilize my skills. I feel like I am floundering here. Aimless and no direction. I need something." he weaved out from under Sven's arm. The larger man stood there. "I know you want to clean your life up. You came here to get a new start. The Nyberrites prey on people with prior convictions. And seeing how they treated the Zarkdorn tells me that there is nothing good from those quacks."Xander looked down at his heavily tattooed hands. "No one wants to take a chance on hiring me. And I don't have a way to start my own business." "I know. This is a remote outpost. Maybe this is time you should use to reflect on who you were and what you want to do." "I've been doing that."Sven nodded. "It's been really hard for you. I know this. But things take time. It's been only 3 months now since you've gotten here." They were standing in front of the Blue Beta Bar and Grill. "Let's get something to eat."
Xander stuffed his hands into his pockets as they walked in, across the deck and to the bar counter. Sven sighed. It had seemed that there was a group of aliens, all with intricate forehead ridges. He hadn't started getting caught up on his work, but remembered that there was supposed to be some sort of delegation. Well, he was still off and wasn't about to start work early. Unless there was some sort of terrorist attack. "Hey Lea." he said leaning upon the bar and his dark eyes looking into the dining area. "That's that delegation from..." he snapped his fingers trying to remember. Xander placed both elbows upon the bar and gave a curious glance. "You guys do a lot of hosting here..." he said in an off-handed remark. Not really addressing Lea, or the station in general. _____ Tag Thea Baker and anyone else in the near vicinity

"Commander Eastman. Chief Melhin. Lieutenant Harmon here. The Kurjarian transport is docking now."
[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Max Williams - Park, Front Ear Station]Judy hadn't intended to miss the Kurjarian reception. She had promised Max, months ago, that she'd take an extra day off after her birthday weekend to spend with him, and after her recent injury, she was in no position to renegotiate that promise; her negotiating position was made even worse when she added one more[fn] [/fn] to her long list of avocado-related injuries[fn]Avocado Hand is a menace. Google it.[/fn]. Family won out, and Judy entrusted the duty to Lieutenant Harmon's hands. Perhaps it would help break him out of his boredom, she told herself by way of consolation. Not that she really needed consolation, after the exquisite cheese platter she'd enjoyed for breakfast. At this moment, she was out at the Station park with Max, on an extended stroll with their two corgis - Bridge and Tunnel. =A= "Thank you, Lieutenant. I'm available if you need me. Eastman out," =A= she answered her commbadge. "Remind me to spend my next vacation day out in the jungle, where they can't reach me," she then joked to her husband. "We can stuff your commbadge inside a chicken. These two will take care of it in no time," he replied. Bridge looked up, as if expecting to get some chicken. "I don't have chicken. No chicken," Max pointed out, holding his hand out to the dog to sniff. Bridge inspected it, while Tunnel began to sniff at the bushes. "Speaking of chicken, I could use some munchies," Judy said, tugging at Tunnel's leash to get the rather lazy corgi away from the bush.

This was a grave error, and the great surgeon sought to prove as much. In this quest, he entered himself into these diplomatic shenanigans, as a chaperone to the Kurjarian visitors. He could dazzle them with his wisdom and grace, so much so that Eastman and Ellis would be forced to recognize his skill. Clad in his dress uniform, against instructions (he supposed it made him look more prepared), Kece entered the docking bay with all the grandeur of an Emperor. "I HAVE ARRIVED," he proclaimed. "Dr. Kece Lunn, at your service," he quickly added.

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Holodeck Two -> Promenade, Front Ear Station] Jab... jab... jab... spinning backhand... mat.Kova's fist clinched tightly as she slammed it against the mat... again. So far, she was having her little blue ass gift-wrapped by a holographic Cardassian. She looked up at him, her eyes narrowing at the smirk. Kova actually cursed herself for that personality subroutine. It was a little two authentic. She pushed herself back up to her feet, her hands resting on her lips. She watched as he paced back and forth... still sneering at her. She reached up and tapped her jaw. It punches didn't hurt. They were little more than love taps. But a few more knockdowns like that and that mat was going to crack her jaw. Kova clinched her right hand and drove her fist into her left palm. "Come on," Kova said challenging the hologram. "Let's see if I can't knock that smile off your face this time." The Cardassian charged at Kova, this time going low as his arms wrapped around her waist and hoisted her up into the air. ********** The doors to the turbolift parted, and Kova stepped out. Her white hair was tied in a high ponytail, the front bangs a tad moist from sweat. Her antennae were curled slightly before her. She was still in her workout attire, which was what Terrans would call yoga paints and a sports bra, both black. A towel was draped around her neck as well, while her hand nursed the small of her back. She made her way to one of the vendors that sold authentic smoothies. She had only taken a few sips her smoothie, made from Andorian tuber root and Proxima red grass. Her eyes looked up to see Chief Melihn strolling out of the security officer. Kova wouldn't say that the pair of them were friends, but perhaps it'd be better if they weren't only speaking to one another when she was asking Kova to risk her life as a spy. Kova wasn't sure what had become of it all, except for the fact that she presently had nothing to do with it. "Chief?" Kova called out as she crossed the promenade towards the security officer, almost instantly regretting it as the pain flared in her back. She'd definitely have to visit Sickbay. Though, as she got closer her mind went fairly blank except for one thing. "Hi, I was wondering if you got the uh... package that came for you today?" Kova asked. When it came, she instantly felt the need to keep it of view of prying eyes, considering it bore the symbol of the Nyberrite Alliance. She had shuffled it in with some of the security reports when she dropped off some of the surveillance reports earlier that day. Perhaps bringing up was a mistake, but Kova had never been one to hold her tongue.

[ Leanna & Brooke - Blue Beta Bar & Grill, Dining Area] With the introductions made, Lea and Brooke were prepared to answer any questions that the small delegation may have or direct them to the buffet area that had been set up, especially for the reception. Although the Betazoid made sure to acknowledge Sven, Xander and then the young Ensign who had arrived with the Kurjarian's before they moved off towards the main bar itself. As much as she would normally be behind the counter to serve and engage in conversation with the Security officer and his partner, as well as getting to know the Ensign in gold. Lea knew that Seamus would be just as capable and more, in helping their regular and new customers, whilst she played host. So when the one named Jeren, thanked them for the welcome and introduced himself, Lea picked up on the warmth of his smile, noting that those with him preferred to let him do the talking as he then asked, what food and drink they would recommend. Although it wasn't difficult to notice how they seemed fascinated with Sven. " Pleased to meet you Jeren and you're not being rude at all as I understand that you've had a long trip ... as for what I recommend .. we have an area set up with a selection of food and drink that we offer in the bar, if you would like to follow me and Brooke".****************** [ Seamus - Main Bar] Seeing that Lea and Brooke were engaged with the delegation from Caldonia, the Irishman wasted no time in answering Sven's question first. " That would be the Kurjurian's from Caldonia, Sven" he said cheerily, before Xander made his comment about how they did a lot of hosting here. " We do and I know Lea is looking for some more staff, if you know anyone who is interested".It was always worth it to advertise by word of mouth and recommendations, before the more official side of recruiting more staff, especially since the loss of Fells and a couple of others. Still it wasn't about to dampen his mood as the Irishman then heard the request for a Raktajino. " Sure thing, coming right up for ya".Leaving his customers for a moment, Seamus then moved off to the hot drinks area in order to fetch the requested drink. Ensuring it was black and extra strong, before returning and placing the drink down in front of Josh.

[Docking Bay - Kurjarian Delegation]
The Kurjarians were a minority species from nearby Caldonia. Not a lot was known about them or the Caldonians either really. The Federation only had limited contact with them, only really in relation to the trade of the rare Trillium 323 mineral which was common in the mountains where the Kurjarians lived. It was known that the Kurjarians were a more tribal, spiritual group of historical nomads. The Caldonians supposedly had a caste based society but not a lot of details were known about them beyond the fact they saw the pursuit of research and knowledge as the most important thing. Unknown to the public, and anyone else currently on the station other than Harmon and Eastman, Caldonia seemed to be having some minor civil strife at the moment, though again details were frustratingly hard to come by.
The Kurjarians appeared similar to their Caldonian cousins, only were lighter skinned, had more ornate patterns in their cranial ridge, and stood quite a bit shorter at a bit smaller than the average human height. They worse long, simple robes of simple colours, mostly shades of brown or beige, aside from the man who seemed to be their leader, who wore white. They had already divided themselves up into a few groups. Five of them, including the white-robed leader, were escorted off to the Blue Beta Bar, while the rest organised into four more groups of three or four each. They awaited their chaperones, eager to explore the strange environment.

And while he did not particularly enjoy the idea of being back in that role, seeing it immensely disconnected from what he had been trained for, he supposed it was some kind of a back-handed compliment; after all, he'd handled being the liaison to Princess Victoria without starting a diplomatic incident and without any complaints about his conduct. And in the absence of formal diplomatic officers, he supposed that made him the go-to guy for this sort of task. And that meant he was parked with the delegation's leader... who immediately elected to head for the Blue Beta rather than explore the station and its many facilities. At least, until the reception (where he would, surely, be expected to be strictly silent and ornamental) he was able to stay in his much more comfortable duty uniform. At least there was that... And if that was what his charge wanted, well, who was Joshua Niles to disagree. It wasn't as though he was demanding access to restricted areas, after all! Well, just one more day in the life of a young Ensign, and so he had led his charge to the Blue Beta.

However, first appearances were often deceptive and though he did not show it, he remained deeply sceptical and wary of these Federationers. He paused for a second, and quietly spoke to two of the clansmen accompanying him, one wearing brown and another wearing beige.

His cheeks were sunken and he was even shorter than the other Kurjarians. He was absolutely dwarfed by Sven. [ Seamus - Main Bar, Blue Beta] When Stryker commented about the delegation, Seamus couldn't argue with it as ultimately that's what they all wanted, whenever someone new visited the station. " Me too" he agreed, before his attention moved to Xander, as he admitted that he himself was looking for a job, which Seamus congratulated himself internally that his gut instinct had been correct, until Xander shared with him about his criminal record and how it probably wouldn't work. He was going to comment about that, when Sven stepped in and mentioned how everyone deserved a second chance and again wasn't to contradict that as it was something that he and Lea encouraged and believed in. " Well you're in luck, Xander as here at Blue Beta we give people another chance, hell if it wasn't for Lea, I wouldn't be here so the job is yours if you want it" the Irishman said as Sven then settled on a burger, before he showed off a little in front of the delegates and Xander teased him. That made Seamus grin, as he responded to Sven. " One burger it is and anything else?" he asked, in case Xander wanted something. Although whilst he waited, the young man in gold, provided more information about the delegates, before he got up and prepared to rejoin them. Then as two of the party approached, Seamus smiled at them with his trademark warm smile as they made introductions. *********************** [ Leanna & Brooke - Reception Area, Blue Beta] There was a smile from Leanna as Jeren accepted the offer to follow her and Brooke to the buffet area that had been specially put together for their arrival. However as Brooke led the way, Lea did notice Jeren speak to two of those with him, before they separated and made their way to the bar. The Betazoid thought it was a good idea and hopefully encourage conversation, especially with how they had intially reacted to seeing Sven. A look towards Seamus and she knew that they would receive the Irish charm and hospitality as she reached the seating area and buffet tables. " Jeren, everyone, please help yourself to anything, all of it is freshly made, including some of Brooke's cakes and pastries".Brooke looked to Lea at the mention to what she had brought to the buffet and grinned slightly as she spoke to the delegates. " Whilst all of it is good, I definitely recommend the chocolate and raspberry tarts".

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Promenade, Front Ear Station] As Kova stood there, she tried to read the woman's demeanor. At first she seemed unaware of what Kova was referring to, but quickly realized. The reaction that accompanied it was not one that Kova had been expecting. It was a laugh, and then apparently some mention that it was tea. Kova's own brow furrowed as she tried to gauge the security chiefs sudden change of demeanor along with her mention of receiving gifts from the Nyberrite Alliance. Perhaps there was even more to her earlier plan for Kova to insert herself into the Alliance. From what she'd gathered, Lt. Harmon, he didn't require her services. Kova hdn't thought much more of it until now. She was then asked if the gift had come through her for some reason. "At the time, you were busy. I just made it known that you couldn't be distrubed," Kova replied to the question. "Deka tea? That's Bajoran, isn't it?" Was that what the Alliance had sent her? Was Chief Melihn now receiving gifts form the Nyberrite Alliance? She certainly didn't seem leery of it. She also seemed to know whom had sent the gift as well. Perhaps she was more involved with the Alliance than Kova had initially known.
