[ Leanna & Brooke - Hostage Area, Blue Beta] Despite her reassurances to Brooke and those who were huddled with them as they awaited their fate at the hands of their captors. It had all been a desperate attempt for Lea to be her usual self, determined to find a way out of this, even if it came down to her trying to reason with the Kurjarian's. Yes she still had that fiery spirit and showed everyone just how stronger she had become when she bounced back after Fells left. However there were still moments like now that the fear crept in, that she couldn't do it all, that perhaps luck wasn't on her side anymore as punishment for how her life had almost crashed and burned. No she had to ignore the battle inside and the birds circling around her like some kind of death omen, ready to pick what was left from her. Of course her thoughts returned to her former partner, her children and knew she had to fight if she was going to survive. A look towards Brooke, whispered words about Greg, sharing each other's strength so as not to become completely overwhelmed with the emotions battling to be heard. Then came Ensign Niles's response to the initial demands, hearing his own fear at the situation loud and clear as if he had told her. The Betazoid went to offer silent reassurance, before pain then anger took over and withdrew slightly before it overpowered her. Barely hearing the commotion, before Jeren became more serious. " Ensign, please do as he asks, he's telling the truth ... its up to Ops and Charlie Fox is the journalist that you need".She had to say something and not keep quiet anymore, drawing on who she was and what she was to overcome the despair, her eyes becoming darker as she spoke.
************* [ Seamus - Main Bar, Blue Beta] Once he had locked down the bar, Seamus didn't dare go anywhere other than the edge of the bar, getting down into a sitting position rather than risk trying to get inside the kitchen. He hoped that what he had done was enough to raise the alert and all he could do was wait and not think too much about what would happen. So he had simply observed whilst keeping his anger at bay, knowing it wouldn't do him any good to retaliate or try to take them down as it wasn't like he had a weapon handy. Although once Xander had been hit by the stray disruptor blast which showed how dangerous the delegates could be without them being trained killers, fury boiled within him, as Sven reacted. In the ensuing chaos, Seamus knew that he had to do something until they could get the help that Xander desperately needed if he was to live. Grabbing the emergency medkit and ignoring the fallen Kurjarian for now, Seamus stood up and made his way to Xander. " I have basic medical training so before you start, I'm helping him and you better hope for your sake's that he doesn't die".Seamus then took out what he needed and began to administer first aid, wishing he could do more whilst quietly reciting an Irish prayer. May you be wrapped up in God's love, Found deep in his everlasting wings. Carried and kept, safe and cherished. May the healing power of Christ, breathe across you right now.

[Kurjarians - Blue Beta Bar]
The group continued to round up the hostages into a few small groups, each with one looking over them. Jeren noticed a small yellowshirt and few others duck out as they realised what had happened. It was a shame but expected and hardly a problem. They had their goals, they had their intel, they had their methods, however unpleasant they would be.
Qembi kept a close eye on Sven. His eyes seemed sad and regretful. He wasn't enjoying this but it was the only way to get the Federation's attention. The huge man was immediately identified as a threat. He considered killing him, it was the smart choice, the easy choice. But he had done nothing to them. He did not deserve to die. At least not yet. If he were to stand in the way of their mission perhaps Qembi would need to reevaluate.
Izeg meanwhile was surprised when Xander broke free and punched him across the face causing him to bleed a little on the lip. Instinctively, and quite possibly without conscious effort, Izeg fired two shots of his pistol. The punch had left him off balance making it entirely possibly the shots could go anywhere, wounding him, killing him, hitting something or someone else, or quite likely missing entirely.
Jeren admired the young man for taking a stand. Reminded him of too many of Jeren's tribesmen, many of which did not survive such bold acts. He tracked the man with his gun as he was approached. He saw no reason to hurt this man. "I sincerely do not wish anyone to be hurt, I hope you can believe that," he said before pointing his gun towards the roof as a show of good faith so he was not brandishing it in the mans face. "There will be time to contact your commanding officer. First I want to talk to...Charlie. You have a journalist here, they are called Charlie," the man was well informed and had planned this operation carefully, though he seemed to forget the concept of surnames. [...] [ Leanna & Brooke - Reception Area, Blue Beta] There was little that either Lea or Brooke could do, other than remain huddled together alongside the other hostages as the Kurjarian's continued their hold over the bar. Hoping that Seamus had managed to raise an alert without causing any suspicion. Although as the familiar sound of the shutters rang out as the bar was locked down, she could only pray that he was safe with those nearest to the main bar. The Betazoid did manage to speak quietly to those around her, offering reassurance, knowing that they couldn't resist or act out at least not until there was an opportunity to do so. However she did notice that Ensign Niles was attempting to reason with Jeren, understanding why he had wanted to do something and wondered how the Clan Leader would react and if he would injure the security officer or worse for not obeying his instructions. Then again perhaps the Kurjarian's didn't want to hurt them and this was just done out of desperation for what their people had gone through as they had initially seemed friendly enough. Whatever the reason for doing this, it seemed as though Jeren wanted to speak to Charlie rather than those in command of the station. That was a curious move and she knew exactly which Charlie he was referring too, even if he didn't mention her surname. For now all they could do was wait to see if their request would be acknowledged. |Blue Beta Bar and Grill || Lt. Sven Aune | Xander McGrath | Interactions: Xander -> ☠ Death's doorstep ☠Sven -> QembiThe punch made contact. Perhaps years of being a hooligan did pay off. A feeling of satisfaction ran through Xander despite the situation. But it didn't last. An intense blast of heat exploded from his chest where the stray blaster fire struck him knocking him backwards. His shirt had been burned off leaving a red angry wound in the exposed section. He was rendered unconscious, barely alive. Sven howled seeing his partner injured in such a way. Rage blinded him and his heart pounded in his ears. Without thinking the large man bull-rushed the Clan chieftain's attache. He pushed aside the chief as he made his cleared his path. He didn't care if the strike killed the man, or if he was killed in the process. With a shoulder dug down he crossed the short distance with force, and accuracy of a freight train with the intention to knock the man off his feet. "You son of a bitch!" he roared. [ Ens Joshua Niles - Blue Beta Bar, Front Ear Station ]For a moment, Niles was not certain whether the weapon pointed at him would be fired and blast a hole through his chest, but when Jeren pointed it skywards, the Ensign found it to be a good sign, further bolstered by his stated wish to avoid harming anyone. This was as good a sign as he could hope for, given the circumstances. And, the desire to speak to a journalist? That was something interesting that he had not expected, especially as he had refused to let him contact Ops. However, that was something he could work with. Perhaps he was no diplomat; perhaps he was no security expert. But he was a tactical officer, and he would find some way to wrest an advantage from this situation one way or another. And just as he was about to speak, a disruptor shrieked again, and a cry of pain was followed by a savage bellow. When Joshua turned his head towards its source, he saw the mountain of a Lieutenant Aune surging forward. However, as he was in civilian attire, there was a chance no one knew he was Starfleet unless one had heard their earlier brief conversation. With some luck, he would understand what he meant to do... or at least prevent others from getting hurt. "Everyone, CALM... DOWN!"The Ensign, whose voice was normally low, barely above a whisper, sounded like a whipcrack, hoping to startle Sven into not getting himself killed, and the Kurjarans into holding their fire. Turning back towards Jeren, he took a deep breath. "Sir, you want to speak to a journalist, but I can't do that for you, not right now. I don't have the means, or the authority, to track her down for you. Especially not in this kind of situation. And, now that someone is badly injured, your position is a lot worse than it was when you made this attempt. Let me contact Ops, I'll pass on your desire to speak to a journalist... but they might require something from you, like letting us evacuate that man so he can get medical attention. He's hurt, but if he doesn't get help, he won't make it. You don't want to cross the line into someone getting murdered, you will force my superiors to escalate, and no one wants that."

Tags Matthew Harmon Joshua Niles Thea Baker [ Ens Joshua Niles - Blue Beta Bar, Front Ear Station ]The young Ensign's face was as close to a mask as he could keep it, but his eyes were moving swiftly from Jeren to the wounded man to Lieutenant Aune to the other hostages, and he was visibly taking long, deep breaths as to steady himself. But, despite his apparent calm, his heart was pounding in his chest like frenetic drums, nearly deafening him to what was going on around him. And with the very large man's reaction, the possibility of a bloodbath was increasing sharply... But Jeren quickly regained control of the situation, his people answering to his commands before he issued some to Lieutenant Aune. And then, he issued clear, unambiguous terms. Calling for the journalist and what equipment they would require in exchange for the wounded man getting treatment was something that might be hard to make happen. The journalist was a civilian, and could not be compelled by Starfleet to come into danger like this... but there was something telling Niles that Jeren was being serious all right... And the bar's proprietor was quick enough to confirm that while providing information he critically needed at the time, and her tone was... soothing? Well, that certainly proved to be an interesting detail, one which told the Tactical Officer one thing: he had no way to have even known before, but she was likely Betazoid, and she had access to information he could only guess at; she could be an asset... and if Jeren caught on to her nature it might also put her in great danger. However, he still offered her a nod of thanks. "All right, Sir, just give me a moment," Joshua said in measured tones to Jeren. At this point in time, all he could do was serve as a liaison. But, at least, by being the one to make the call to Ops and speak to the station's command team, it was indeed a sign that Jeren was willing to be reasonable and a peaceful resolution would be on the table, and with that hope burning in his chest, he tapped his commbadge. =A= "Ensign Niles to Ops. I am in the Blue Beta bar with Clan Chief Jeren and four of his people. There are a number of hostages present, myself included, and for now all are well save for one man who was severely injured by a disruptor blast. The Clan Chief is demanding that a journalist, a Miss Charlie Fox, be sent down here with her equipment. Furthermore, he states he is familiar with her appearance and would recognize and attempt to trick him. If she can come here within half an hour, he is willing to release a minimum of the one casualty we have here... otherwise he states he is ready to start killing one hostage every fifteen minutes until his immediate terms are met. So far, the Clan Chief has shown a great deal of restraint and expressed a wish to minimize casualties, and I am inclined to say he is entirely sincere in ever respect. Please advise. Niles out."=A= With the message sent, he took another steadying deep breath. Stuck in the middle, Niles found himself in the unenviable position of acting as a go-between, and possibly negotiator, for some time to come. And, with the big man and one of the bartenders clustered around the injured man, Joshua allowed himself to hope he would live. A dead hostage would escalate an already bad situation into something immensely worse...

[NPC - Chief Melihn Ryah - Promenade Security Office] There was bustling all around her; Ryah noted Kova as the Andorian entered and made herself busy. She winced when she heard the first officer's general announcement. Ryah would have preferred to keep things quiet, not let the Kurjarians know how much Starfleet was onto them, but she wasn't the one in command. After the announcement, her combadge chirped and she could hear Judy ask for input. There was too much noise for Ryah to concentrate; she stepped into the small office that was 'hers' when she had to work close to the promenade. Once in the relative quiet, she tapped her badge to respond, =/\= Commander, if they were able to strike more than one location, they must have a way to communicate. We need to stop them talking to one another. We could cut all comms to and from those areas, or try to target any non-Starfleet comm signals. I've already got the Blue Beta cordoned off and security posted. I don't know if anyone was injured when the weapons went off, but they have a lot of hostages in there, Commander. I only barely got out before the security barrier came down. If we can pinpoint the locations of the other groups, I'll get security in place. =/\= [Lieutenant Harmon - Ops]Harmon noticed Eastman's tact and diplomacy in referring to the attackers. He agreed with her choice, it was a smart move. Besides, if they wanted to they could kill all those hostages. Their best chance of getting everyone out safely was to negotiate. With a little luck they'd send demands soon. "We need to track down those other groups as soon as possible. I agree with the Chief, lets try and track down their comms. In case that doesn't work, I'd recommend locking down keypoints in the station. The Armoury in particular. Arm Security and I'd recommend sending teams of five to search for them in case we can't find a way to track them down. If we can find a way to keep them contained and isolated rather than directly engaging them, that would be ideal. It will make it easier to negotiate with them if they want to negotiate. It is possible this is an act designed to gain attention. They may not intend on making it home or getting any demands, but negotiation should be our priority for now." Kece then replied. "He was hit. It sounds like they're in sickbay. What could they be after there?" [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Ops]Judy took a sharp breath. Sickbay. That was bad. "They're trying to poke us at all our tender, soft spots," she concluded. "Let's get teams on the ground. Find them, contain them, but only engage them if they're mobile and without hostages. Weapons on stun. And let's get teams to lock down key locations, too."The First Officer by and large agreed with her subordinates, but she felt a need to add her own little tweak to the orders of engagement, just to make sure they didn't miss any low-hanging fruits in their quest to turn the tables. "Now, I agree with jamming their comms. Let's keep our ears on the open civilian frequencies, and jam everything else that isn't ours," she ordered. "And, on top of that, let's put the computer core into a diagnostic. That'll keep them from doing anything more that we don't want."Judy was a trained engineer with a knack for data. She knew the power of computers, and she wasn't going to cede it. =A= "Ensign Niles to Ops. I am in the Blue Beta bar with Clan Chief Jeren and four of his people. There are a number of hostages present, myself included, and for now all are well save for one man who was severely injured by a disruptor blast. Niles out."=A= Then she got a call from the inside. Judy glanced at Harmon, giving him a nod, acknowledging that he'd been right. =A= "First of all, I don't want you or anybody else doing something that'll get you hurt. One injured at the bar is too many," =A= Judy directed, ever the maternal one. =A= "Secondly, you can let the Chief know that I'm willing to accommodate him, but I want him to release all wounded, underaged, and elderly hostages from all the locations his groups are at. I'd also like him to have his men withdraw from the computer core. If he does that, he gets the press coverage he wants. I am not willing to bend on this. And, as a sidenote, I think he should consider how the story will play if hostages start dying. Eastman out." =A= Judy was deliberate with her words, assuming that Ensign Niles would be overheard. On the one hand, she wanted to establish herself, not her people, as the target and the figure of authority here. On the other, she wanted to, in any way she could, make it clear that more harm to hostages would end poorly for both the Kurjarians and their cause. Then, she turned to Harmon, "Well, attention is definitely what they want. I think they want to come off as the Bajoran Resistance, but they know that if the press has mostly holophotos of body-bags, they'll come off as Osama Bin Laden instead. We can use that," she reasoned.

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Command Center]"Oy vey izt mir."This was not what Judy had wanted for her day off, and it was certainly not what she'd hoped for from this diplomatic exchange. Nevertheless, these were the cards they'd been dealt. "We'll treat this as the act of aggression it is," she directed. Her sympathy for the Kurjarians and their plight (as it came across in classified memoranda) was entirely overridden by the need to keep her crew safe. "We do need to keep our people safe. Yellow alert."She took a brief pause, compiling in her head a message to the crew. =A= "All station residents and personnel, this is Commander Eastman. A group of Kurjarians has taken hostages onboard our station. All civilians and non-essential personnel, please avoid Decks 10, 11, 15, 21, and the Main Promenade. If you are currently in one of these locations, and have the ability to do so, please find a hiding place and physically barricade yourself there. These individuals are armed and dangerous, so do not engage them on your own. Be careful, and I promise you, we will restore safety to this station," =A= she announced. Her voice was calm and steady, but there were tell-tale undertones of Mama-Bear instincts. Judy wasn't giving in to that anger, or really letting it show, but under the surface, it simmered. =A= "I will say, to the Kurjarians, that the peoples of the Federation are compassionate and hospitable, but we do not take kindly to violence. Keep that in mind," =A= she added. Knowing what she knew, she suspected the Kurjarians were, at the very least, not particularly inclined to alienate the populace, and she tried to play on that. It was for this same reason that, in her main message, she had refrained from using words such as "militant" and "terrorist." "We should loop Chief Melinh in," the First Officer told the personnel in Ops. A junior officer noted the hinted order, and opened a comm line to the Chief of Security. "We have to contain the situation, then pivot to getting our hostages out safely," Judy assessed, her soft-spoken but firm words carrying through the Command Center and on to the Chief. "What do we think?"As was her custom, Judy asked for her subordinates' feedback. It was her habit to actually listen to it, as many on the station had gotten to know in the past several months. =/\= [ Kova Sh'qaleq - Promenade Security Office] As Kova heard the announcement from Commander Eastman, she winced. It was only by coincidence that she noticed Chief Melihn had had a similar reaction. It was a gamble, but she couldn't blame Eastman for thinking exactly like what she was: Starfleet. They always liked to deal from a position of strength, and were inclined to let you know that. In her opinion, it was exactly why it took them so long to lock down Maquis. Well, in the end, it had been the Dominion that had put an end to that resistance. Dismissing the musings that had played in her head from a time that had long passed, Kova decided that it was time to earn her paycheck. "Chief," she said hoping to earn the woman's attention. "I've managed to pull together as much of a threat assessment as possible before the core was compromised." Kova moved an image she had compiled of the sensor data from the Blue Beta prior to sensors going down. "You've got three hostiles, all armed. However, notice this. It looks like they herded them to the rear of the bar." Kova's eyes left the screen and turned to Ryah. "That typically indicates a lack of tactical expertise. A terrorist intent on doing harm would have placed the hostages between themselves and the most likely threat, entry from the front of the bar, after eliminating access from the rear. Kova sighed. "Which means they could be erratic. That can play in either direction."Kova pressed the console to summon up a second image. "This is from Deck 10. Three Kurjarians, entering Sickbay with Dr. Kece. As you can see, the radiation reading suggests that they're armed as well." Kova shrank the image and gestured towards another location on Deck 10. "Transporter Room 2. That's the most likely point of extraction. Securing it would likely shut down their exit plan."Kova moved on to a third image. This time an image of Deck 15 appeared. "This is around the time I lost access to the sensors. There's a group of Kurjarians here. They may be the easiest group to corral, assuming they haven't taken any civilian hostages at this point. Security teams could flank them by starting in sections 7, 11 and 12, and closing in on them."Kova sighed, slightly upset that she hadn't managed to detect anything on Decks 11 or 21 before they lost sensors. "It may be possible to eliminate the threat near the Computer Core, assuming they're still within proximity." Kova shrugged as she weighed the collateral damage. "Though, it'd be easier if we had eyes on them so that we could minimize the risk of casualties and damage to the core itself." That was a tall ask, and luckily, the decision wasn't Kova's. There were those in actual uniforms that were left to make those decisions. She doubted she'd informed Ryah of much that she didn't already know, but Kova was there to consult on security... whatever that meant. She still wondered if it was just a fancy title that meant nothing more than that they had eyes on her. "Deck 21," she mused aloud once more. "As civilians... hell, non-Federation civilians... how would they even know how to gain access? Last I heard, it wasn't exactly general knowledge." Of course, that begged an even more depressing question.

May the healing power of Christ, breathe across you right now.|Blue Beta Bar and Grill || Lt. Sven Aune | Xander McGrath | Interactions: Sven -> SeamusIt was a dire situation and Sven stood cheat heaving and fists clenched like some deranged MMA fighter. Having sent Qembi crashing into a table he turned to look at the damage he done, and possibly finish the job when heard Niles bellow out. He didn't quite hear it. Nor did he notice, or care about the disruptor trained upon on him. He was going to hurt people. But it was Seamus soft speech that pulled him out of his rage. He turned to look at the bar tender. "Will he be okay?" he asked through gritted teeth. He took steps closer to his fallen friend not giving one rats ass about the terrorists. If they chose to shoot him, so be it. Xander, on the other hand was non-responsive. His heart rate was thready at best and his breathing so shallow it was almost non-perceptive. Sven squatted down onto his haunches and took Xanders hand. "So help me, if something happens to you, I'll make them pay." [ Ens Joshua Niles - Blue Beta Bar, Front Ear Station ]The young Ensign's face was as close to a mask as he could keep it, but his eyes were moving swiftly from Jeren to the wounded man to Lieutenant Aune to the other hostages, and he was visibly taking long, deep breaths as to steady himself. [Kurjarians - Blue Beta Bar]
Jeren allowed the bartender to see to the wounds of the injured man. He listened and winced as he prayed to a False God, but decided to allow it. It wasn't worth escalating things by pointing out their error of their ways, something no doubt deeply ingrained in their culture. He listened to the young yellowshirts message, noting he was clearly doing his best to remain a cool headed negotiator. "It seems lucky that we have you here, Niles. I hope that your superiors are as eager to see this dealt with calmly and carefully as you are," he said. [Cmdr. The Clan Chief is demanding that a journalist, a Miss Charlie Fox, be sent down here with her equipment. So far, the Clan Chief has shown a great deal of restraint and expressed a wish to minimize casualties, and I am inclined to say he is entirely sincere in ever respect. Please advise. [Lieutenant Harmon - Ops]The Commander was known for her engineering background, she clearly had a better clue of how to actually go about stopping their comms than he did. The Duty Ops officer quickly began to implement her plan. "I agree," he said, concurring with her assessment of the Kurjarians goals. "We should try and find Ms Fox and get her in there right away. I know its a risk, but we don't have much of a choice." He wasn't going to mention it, but he was broadly sympathetic to the Kurjarians plight. Harmon prided himself on his humanist and anti-totalitarian worldview (though the term humanism was arguably quite outdated by now). Along with Eastman he was probably one of the few people on the station that had much of a clue as to the situation on Caldonia. However, for now that didn't matter. What mattered now was ending this situation with as little harm done to anyone on the station as possible.

[ Leanna - Hostage Area, Blue Beta] Leanna knew that she was taking a potentially huge risk by drawing attention to herself by speaking to Ensign Niles. However when the Ensign then acknowledged her with a silent nod of thanks, she saw a look of almost recognition as if he had realised what she was and was equally thankful that he hadn't exposed her. Although that didn't mean that the threat of exposure wasn't over as he made the call to Ops and if Jeren or any of the others were to look at her properly then she couldn't exactly hide the colour of her eyes. Still it seemed as though Jeren was firmly focused on the injured man and Niles himself as the Clan Leader spoke to Joshua and shared the same hope, that this could be resolved without any more injuries or death. Having done her part for now, Leanna resumed her sitting position next to Brooke, albeit quiet but more intune with what was going on around her, no longer blocking the thoughts and emotions of the others. ***************** [ Seamus - Main Bar, Blue Beta] Seamus was vaguely aware of Sven appearing next to him and Xander as the Irishman finishd reciting the old prayer. He may not be religious per se but that didn't stop him from forgetting his roots or the beliefs of the old country. Whilst he tried to remain positive that they could save Xander, there was little he could say to Sven as the Security Officer, asked if he would be okay. Taking a moment to answer him as he scanned the unconscious man laid on the floor, wishing that they would hurry up so he had a chance of living, especially with him being unresponsive. Not to mention the thready heartbeat and shallow breathing and all he could do was keep him stable and keep praying. " I hope so Sven ... I'm keeping him as stable as I can but we need to get him to Sickbay asap".

[ Ens Joshua Niles - Blue Beta Bar, Front Ear Station ]When Commander Eastman's voice sounded over the channel, Niles barely managed to suppress a sigh of relief. She was there, and she was on top of things. Perhaps, at first, he had thought her overly cautious, but his opinion of her during the events of the space weather that had nearly crippled the Mac and the escaped prisoners running about had changed drastically. In fact, he'd found there might be much he could learn from her, such has moderating his youthful desire to act with the need to think and consider what was actually going on. And, this particular situation was indeed a great chance to put that example to the test! However, before he could speak, both Jeren and Lieutenant Aune had something to add. However, the big man's comment was most definitely going to be counterproductive, especially if the idea was to keep him under the radar, and possibly find a way to get him out the door as soon as possible. A Security officer who'd been within the room, being able to give a first-hand account, would be a powerful asset... but only so long as he was still breathing. "Mister Aune, please, I would advise to remain calm and do nothing to increase the tensions in here. Too many people are hurt already, let's not add to that count." It was... interesting for Josh. Of course he had been polite, but he had remained firm; he knew he had no authority to issue orders to the Lieutenant, but if the charade could be maintained that he was a civilian then, at the worst, he could remain an ace in the hole within the bar... but only if he understood what the young Ensign was trying to do here. Turning his attention back to Jeren, the Ensign nodded. "Sir, I'm a Starfleet officer; I was assigned to be your contact for your visit here, and this... really changes nothing. And, as part of my oath, my duty is to protect these people; the two aren't mutually exclusive. As for Commander Eastman, she is most reasonable, but I would advise you not to push her. Your threat to execute hostages unless your conditions are met will lead to the sort of response you do not want to contemplate; I don't know what grievance you want to address, Sir, but should you start killing hostages instead of talking it out, my understanding is she will make sure your actions do as much damage to your cause as she can manage."Crisis negotiation had not been something he had been trained for; in fact, that tended to be the sort of training that came later in one's career. However, Security was also trained to deescalate tense situations, so this was not entirely an alien task. "Please understand we cannot compel Miss Fox to come in here if she does not wish to, but Commander Eastman will see to it you have access to her in some way, but only if you meet her immediate terms. She requests you call your men away from the Computer Core, and release every young, elderly and injured hostage you and your people are holding. And if she says she will not bend, Sir, I would take her on her word if I were you. From my point of view, Sir, I would suggest you indeed make this show of good faith, and I would also recommend you also free Mister Aune; the last thing you need is someone as angry and as worried as he is in here, not if you want to prevent more violence."

Tag Joshua Niles , Ozu Saya , Matthew Harmon [Cmdr.

I may take the computer core myself. See if I can pick off the Kurjarians with a phaser rifle. May I suggest we consolidate to one place for planning purposes? [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Ops -> Promenade Security Office]"We have to get her in there, because the alternative is a shootout," Judy agreed. "Now, why don't you go find Ms. Fox and see if she's willing?"Judy supposed she didn't need to say that she'd want the journalist properly protected, as much as possible. Hers, like everyone else's, was a life, and as such it was their duty to protect it. [NPC - Chief Melihn Ryah - Promenade Security Office] Ryah scrubbed her face and stalked back out into the open part of the security offices. "I'll be at the Promenade security offices. Let me know if anything changes," she ordered the crew at Ops. She headed out with a wave. Then, after calling a turbolift, she began to address her Security Chief's ideas. =A= "So, I'm hesitant about putting too many civilians out there. It might tempt the Kurjarians to seize more hostages. Anyone that does go out, civvie or not, should be well-hidden, armed, or both," =A= she ordered. She wasn't rejecting the idea, but she also didn't want anyone strutting around looking like a target. =A= "In addition to that, they've demanded to have access to a journalist that's based here, which I've conditioned on them releasing all injured, infirm, and young hostages. Lt. Harmon and I suspect their goal is to get press attention, to promote a cause, so I reckon they'll take the deal." =A= The turbolift came to a halt, and Judy speed-walked to the security office, her bright-red dress standing out in this environment as well. It would've been nice to change, but there was no time for any of that. "Unfortunately, I come to you empty-handed this time," she quipped, a reference to the plates of baked goods she liked to bring on visits to the various departments.

On the other, she wanted to, in any way she could, make it clear that more harm to hostages would end poorly for both the Kurjarians and their cause. [...] [ Leanna - Hostage Area, Blue Beta] Leanna knew that she was taking a potentially huge risk by drawing attention to herself by speaking to Ensign Niles. I'm keeping him as stable as I can but we need to get him to Sickbay asap".|Blue Beta Bar and Grill || lt. Sven Aune | Xander McGrath| Sven's head was aswirl with emotions. He really liked Xander and didn't want to see him hurt. And he wanted to make Izeg hurt for hurting him. Then there was Josh, working to keep the situation from getting out of hand. For an ensign, he was doing well, but the strain in his voice was telling that he was about to crack at anytime. As far as he knew, Sven was the superior officer. But he was in civilian clothing. That meant that the Kujarians might not know he was Star Fleet. He stayed next to Seamus and Xander noting how shallow his breath was "Thank you." he said to the Irishman. He then stood tall and proud. His eyes hard and intense when he addressed Jaren. "It would seem that two of our people need medical attention. I suggest you let them leave to get that. Oh, and so help me, if you start shooting hostages, you better start with me first because I will utterly destroy you, or anyone that tries to hurt anyone else here." [ Ens Joshua Niles - Blue Beta Bar, Front Ear Station ]When Commander Eastman's voice sounded over the channel, Niles barely managed to suppress a sigh of relief. From my point of view, Sir, I would suggest you indeed make this show of good faith, and I would also recommend you also free Mister Aune; the last thing you need is someone as angry and as worried as he is in here, not if you want to prevent more violence." [Jeren - Blue Beta Bar]"Oh we will ensure you are the first to be put down," he told Sven menacingly. He was not sure who this man was, if he was a civillian or worked for Starfleet some how. But it didn't matter. He would be dealt with if he became too much of a problem. "I suggest you sit down and keep quiet before you do something we will all regret." He then turned back to the Ensign, who continued to do his best in what was no doubt a very difficult situation. "I am glad to hear your Commander is reasonable...however," he said, his tone going from initially quite light to more serious, "If she does not accede to our demands then we will have a problem. She can do her best to tarnish our image. She can kill us. It does not matter to us. We are prepared to die. We understand we may fail. But is she...are you, prepared to oppose my demands knowing the consequence will inevitably the deaths of at least a hand full of innocents?" he paused, "Feel free to make that clear to your superiors."

[Lieutenant Harmon - Ops ---> FNN Office]"Aye, ma'am," Harmon nodded before making his way to the turbolift to head to the FNN office on the promenade. He walked quickly towards the receptionist. "Lieutenant Harmon, Starfleet. I need to see Ms. Charlie Fox right away," he said in a commanding tone. [Charlie Fox - FNN Office, Deck 9]"FOX!" The Andorian at the reception desk shrieked the name, then turned to fling a PADD at the redhead who sat less than twenty feet away. Kiasha, the advertising specialist/sometime receptionist was obviously very unimpressed with the officer, and barely gave him a second glance. "What the heck, Ki!?" The girl at the desk, who had just been about to nod off into delicious nap time, plucked the tossed PADD from her messy desk, and threw it right back at the Andorian. "Use your words!""You have a very important visitor," Kiasha said with a smirk, antennae swiveling back toward this Lieutenant Harmon. Charlie's eyes narrowed as she looked up properly, Kiasha's rudeness forgotten once she clocked the pips on the rather tall man's grey collar. She pulled her booted feet off the desk, allowing them to drop with a thump to the floor, then she stood, and waved the Starfleet officer over. "What can I do for you?" She asked, her tone not exactly warm, but not reflective of the general disdain she was feeling, either. "Need a restaurant recommendation? I gave the Blue Beta five stars last week, try the popcorn shrimp."

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Promenade Security Office, Front Ear Station] Ryah seemed to be pleased with the intel that Kova had been able to provide. It gave some insight, but there were still a number of holes to be filled. It was certainly something that Kova planned to continue to work to amend. She had just been about to see to those exact duties when she overheard Ryah make a comm that essentially made the Andorian question the woman's sanity. "Wait, Avi Moz?" she asked, making not attempt to hide the fact that she had eavesdropped on the communication. "You mean the Bolian, Avi Moz?" Kova sincerely began to wonder if Starfleet had somehow transitioned into the business of trying to get people killed. At best, Avi was a wild card. More than likely, she was a walking, talking incendiary device that blow apart any attempt at resolving this peacefully. The silent gesture to share the information that Kova had compiled was the only mild distraction she received from Ryah. She forwarded the information to Ops for the higher ups to review. In the meantime, the situation seemed to read like a bad joke: So, a wronged, hostage-taking Zealot and a ballsy Bolian walk into a bar.... Three guesses how that one ends. The more the Andorian overheard, the more it appeared it sounded as if a bunch of Terran monkeys were flinging feces, or however the expression went. It sounded like the only thing these people wanted was a platform. If that was the case, then they sounded really dangerous. And giving them what they wanted would likely lead to Starfleet giving up all of the leverage they had. Not to mention tossing more civilians into the equation. The only tactical advantage Kova saw was trying to cripple their communication network, and making certain each group was isolate and unable to communicate with the other cells. Commander Eastman eventually announced her arrival by pointing out that she had come with empty-handed. The Andorian wondered if that meant she had nothing else to offer with respect to these Kurjarians. "Well, I might have something, but it's definitely going to cost you," said the Andorian. There seemed to be a moment of uncomfortable silence, that forced Kova to clarify her stance. " Information, not latinum." Surely, it couldn't have been that difficult to tell their blue-skinned aliens apart from one another.

=/\= Chief Melihn to Avi Moz, please report to the security offices on the promenade, if you are able. I have a request of you. =/\= [ Avi Moz, civilian | Alliance freighter, docked → station security ]Avi Moz's workshop had been locked and dark for the past month, its esteemed proprietor having, apparently, joined up with the Neberrite Alliance. Rumors flew as to why - being on the run from the Klingons and ducking a debt to a Risian cartel were the top two. The reality was unfortunately more dire and less fun. She'd been blackmailed by Starfleet Intelligence to infiltrate the shady para-military organization on threat of being thrown to the Tal Shiar. The station computer found her anyway, in the mess of a Nyberrite freighter that was still docked at the station. The little blue bug in her big blue ear relayed the message. It hadn't gone off in days. She'd expected to hear Matthew Harmon's funny little human voice not her dear good friend Chief Melihn, but anyone would do. Without preamble, she threw her cards onto the table, slid what was left of her winnings into her hand, and stood up from her chair. "Don't cry now, I'll be back for the rest," she assured her fellow recruits. Some protested, warning her of when they were meant to depart again and that she'd better be aboard. She reminded them of how she'd cracked their tibia during training. Once she was off the freighter and aboard the station, she removed her outer uniform jacket. The station was in a bit of a nit. Hostage situation in the Blue Beta, apparently. She was sad to miss it. She didn't know what she liked more. More fun being a hostage, but you made more money taking them. When the stocky blue Bolian arrived at security, she had her Nyberrite Alliance jacket folded over her arm. She was sure to offer a bright, yellow-toothed smile to Kova. "You beckoned - oi, hello," Avi had begun to address Melihn but interrupted herself to make a face as the human in the red dress. Was that the station's commander?
