[Felicity Ellis - Private Quarters, Lounge - 0115 HRS]Approximately four weeks following the events of Maelstrom. She considered how other captains had felt in her position. It wasn't an uncommon one, at least, it didn't used to be. Many before her had flown without hesitation into the unknown; curiosity and a thirst for knowledge and experience driving them, just as it had driven the explorers of old. It was terrifying and thrilling. That day they'd broken their record and ventured out further than they had before. They were on the trail of the Orunmila, their mission to find out what had happened to her. Felicity did not believe they were close, nor did she believe that a ship could just disappear and reappear without engendering rightful suspicion, but that wouldn't stop them from fulfilling their orders. She pushed the barely touched plate of dinner on the coffee table away, picked up her tumbler of Jameson, and leaned back. She kicked off her boots and swung her legs around, intent on making herself comfortable. Her mind wandered again, as without really thinking about the action, she sipped at the whiskey. Her eyes felt heavy; they were mutinying against her thoughts, trying to pull her consciousness down into the awaiting embrace of darkness and sleep. She succumbed, glass tipping over and falling from her grasp. ~~~ Felicity was looking at a familiar coastline, but the colours were just all wrong. Wilderness Beach looked muddy brown, the sky burnt orange and ocher, the clouds above a dark, dark red, moving with all the inevitable, heavy slowness of a funeral procession. All around her waves crashed as the ocean roared; ill-tempered and vengeful, but she was still. She sat in a kayak, a familiar experience, but while all around her a storm brewed, all was calm within the kayak. There was no reassuring bob atop the waves, no movement to or fro, no need to use her paddle to right herself. She just stayed. She just was. She and her small boat were in the eye of a tempest. She, her small boat, and her dead brother. Cameron looked like Cameron, but he wasn't really Cameron. He perched on the hard edge of the craft's bow; a feat not entirely possible by the current laws of physics. He sat with his legs crossed, Indian-style, and facing her. Not-Cameron was handsome, wind-swept, even cheeky and annoying, but completely unhelpful. "Why are you here?"Her brother blinked at her, then repeated himself. "I can only live where there is light, but I die if the light shines on me. What am I?""You're a stomkop," she responded, her voice betraying her growing lack of patience. She crossed her legs in attempt to mirror his body language. She rested her palms on her knees and studied the figure of her late younger brother, and one-time best friend. "What am I?"Her fists clenched on her knees instead. She rolled her eyes and responded. "You're a shadow.""Yes." Not-Cameron smiled. "I am a shadow.""You used to be much more fun."He looked at her, his expression not unkind as he cocked his head in that familiar way all Ellis siblings had. "They hurt without moving. They poison without touching. They bear the truth and the lies. They are not to be judged by their size. What are they?"She sighed. "Words. They're just words."Not-Cameron nodded, then turned his head to look out to the great distance, through the storm and to what lay beyond. "I'm always there, some distance away. Somewhere between land or sea and sky I lay. You may move towards me, yet distant I stay."Felicity followed her brother's gaze and cringed at what she saw. In the distance was destruction. Before them was unknown pain. She didn't want to move toward it, she wanted to stay put in her calm bubble, sitting in her kayak with Not-Cameron and witnessing the carnage to come from safety. "You are the horizon."

[CMO's Quarters - Deck 2]
Following what had been a fairly straightforward shift that had seen spend the majority of her time on the Bridge, Thea was definitely ready to unwind and relax in her quarters. So as the doors slid shut behind her and having already gotten something to eat from the Mess Hall, all that was left to do was undress, shower and then perhaps read a little before bed. Of course if her plans were interrupted by a certain scientist paying a visit then she wouldn't complain. With Isaiah firmly on her mind, Thea allowed herself a few minutes of reflection and perhaps more, especially the wedding they had attended on Kerelia and the times spent in each other's company since then.
There was no denying their closeness and how special he was to her and he never failed to make her smile, even when she was only thinking about him. Although this wasn't getting her undressed or showered as she came back to reality and grinned despite the telling off from the proverbial angel on her shoulder. Stripping off her uniform and everything underneath didn't take long, considering she was a pro at removing her uniform every day and made her way to the bathroom. Selecting the option for a proper warm water shower, Thea then stepped inside and let the water rush over her. Naturally she didn't rush the process as any stresses of the day were washed away completely and indulged in a little singing, something she rarely did in public.
One person knew of her secret and she was happy to keep it between them, unless she got into a situation or had too much to drink and then maybe she would be tempted enough to share what she could do. That thought made her giggle, as she turned the shower off and grabbed a towel. The first thing to tackle was her long red hair, glad that she had gotten it trimmed whilst she was on Front Ear, as it was getting to the point of being a bit too long. That dealt with and brushed until she couldn't brush it anymore, Thea then finished drying herself, before putting on a pair of shorts and a tank top, her usual bedroom attire.
Fetching a warm drink from the replicator, Thea then sat down on her bed and picked up the book she had started reading from the nightstand and resumed reading, whilst pausing every now and then to take a sip of her hot mint chocolate.

[ MCPO Ozu Saya - Personal Quarters] ...and this little guy has been bouncing off the walls today. We had breakfast on the promenade, and I'm pretty sure something he ate gave him lots and lots of energy.Evekh was, indeed, bouncing on his father's knee as Saya gazed at them from her viewer on the Mac. She hated when she had to be away from them, and this time, they were going further than previously. She smiled slightly as her son bounced again and flapped a hand at her. Mama, I played ALL day. No nap. Kyo widened horrified eyes behind Evekh's curls and shook his head. I esplored all over with Alieth. She was funny. Went HONK-HONK!And what made her do that? Saya asked calmly. Got stuck!Saya raised her brow at Kyo, who explained. Evekh crawled through the legs of one of the dining chairs. When Alieth tried to follow, she got her horns hooked on the rails. No injury, just extreme indignation. And you know how that goes.Indeed. Their pet could make quite a racket when scared. Evekh flapped a hand at Saya again and made a kissing sound. Bye, Mama. See you later. He jumped down from Kyo's lap and proceeded to run in circles around the room. I'll have to be careful about what he eats for breakfast from now on, Kyo said with a chuckle. I'm sorry he's been difficult, Saya said. She hated feeling like she wasn't doing enough. And it had happened far too often in the past when she'd gotten absorbed in work. Kyo shook his head. We miss you, of course, but your work is important. He's been pretty well-behaved overall. I think I have to take the blame for this one. I'll have to figure out what set him off and avoid it.
But I should let you go. I'm sure you've been working too hard and need rest.Saya hesitated but nodded her concession. I'm afraid this may be our last live call for a while. We'll likely be out of range by tomorrow evening, but I'll send a message early in the day. It should arrive before Evekh's bedtime.Kyo smiled, All right. We'll be looking for it. And we'll send a reply, too. Be careful and take care of yourself. I love you.And I you, Saya said, pressing two fingertips to her lips and extending them toward her screen. Kyo repeated the gesture, then signed off to go corral their son into bed. Saya sighed and leaned back in her chair. Reviewing the conversation, worrying a little bit. She got ready for bed, though it was still a little early, and settled into bed to do a little light reading of the latest engineering journal she'd received just before leaving the station. Alieth

[Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Guest Quarters]
It wasn't often that Sir Doug was called out to the ship. In fact, this was the first time since he'd left Starfleet. However, he supposed they needed him to lend a hand with the scans, and so he agreed to come.
Presently, he was in the large bed of the guest quarters, with PooDoo pacing around the floor, as he drifted off to sleep.
In his dream, Sir Doug was in a luxury beachfront hotel, in 20th-century Torros III, at the foothills of the Yellow Mountains. He opened the mini-fridge in his room, and found it packed with an assortment of cheeses in every color of the rainbow.
"Don't mind if I do," the ancient El-Aurian said as he took a wheel with a pink rind, unwrapped it, and took a big ol' bite.
Gazing outside, he saw a fondue fountain.

[Lt. (j.g.) Isaiah Quinn - Science Labs, Deck 7, USS Mac] Isaiah looked at the chronometer and sighed. The diagnostic he was running would take at least another hour, and there was no way he could just end it now, nor could he leave it unattended. Of course, that only left him with one single option: wait it out. He leaned back in his chair and placed his feet on top of the desk. As he sat there, lounging, his mind lingered to a particular redhead. Once again, he thought about how she had narrowly escaped about a month ago after being taken hostage by those escaped prisoners. Of course, in the meantime they had attended that wedding among the other times they'd found to spend time together. He somehow felt a bit more at ease when she was within sight... at least while aboard the Mac. He cleared his throat as he sat there, and then spoke aloud. "Computer, record the following message," he said aloud. The acknowledging chime signified that the computer was waiting for him to begin. "Hello, Thea. It's me. I didn't want to disturb you, but I did want to wish you goodnight. I'll be stuck in the lab for at least another hour, but maybe we can do breakfast tomorrow. Say, mess at 0730? G'night." He took a deep breath before speaking once again. "End recording. Send message to Dr. Thea Baker."Once again, he heard the familiar chime. With the message sent, Isaiah took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. His eyes slowly began to lull between open and shut. Soon, the screen in front of him began to blur and then blacken as he began to drift off to sleep. ~~~ The doors to Sickbay parted, and Isaiah stepped in. He looked around, but saw no sign of her signature auburn hair. He felt like she should have been there on duty, but she wasn't. "Thea?" Isaiah called out, but there was nothing. It was just strange. She wasn't in sight, and yet he had the urge to find her. Stepping back towards the door, Isaiah stepped into the corridor. He began to stroll down the corridor towards her quarters. And then, he heard something. It caused the young scientist to halt in his tracks as he listened. The sound was familiar, and yet, he knew that it didn't belong. Whatever it was, it was growing louder. No, not louder... closer. He stood there for a moment, but could feel the urge to move away from that sound. Soon, he understood why. Tritters! There were dozens of them, racing along the floor, towards him. Isaiah broke off into a run, moving as quickly as his legs could carry him. Up ahead, he could see the turbolift, the doors already ajar. His hand reached for the side of the doorway as he held firmly to bring himself to a stop. His hand reached for the panel as he frantically tapped at it to manually close the door. Slowly, impossibly slow, the doors began to inch close as the tritters moved closer and closer. His eyes widened as one leapt into the air. Isaiah's hand rose defensively as he felt gravity snatch him. Only the sharp teeth from the snarling creature seemed to drown out his scream as it's saliva flew from the corners of its mouth.

Tag: Thea Baker (soft) [CMO's Quarters - Deck 2] The combination of the soothingly delicious mint chocolate and the story that she had become completely engrossed in, had Thea daring herself to keep reading, something that she usually did, whenever she wanted to read at least the end of the chapter. Of course once she had gotten to the end, she always told herself that it wouldn't hurt to read a bit more, which then had her cursing to herself when she finally checked the chronometer and realised that she should really get some sleep. Then again, she didn't feel as guilty for doing so as this was a rarity these days, especially since most of her free time was spent with Isaiah and she definitely would never complain about that, since she loved being around him. In fact he rarely left her thoughts and when they did spend time apart, she did miss him and always looked forward to when she saw him next. A glance towards the chronometer and rationality took over along with a yawn that couldn't be ignored. So rather than fight the oncoming tiredness, Thea marked the page that she was on with an old fashioned bookmark and went to place it on the nightstand, before she paused as she was alerted to an incoming message. Instructing the computer to play it, Thea smiled when she heard who it was from and was glad that she had decided to listen to it now rather than in the morning when she woke. As much as she would of liked to have seen him, she loved how he had sent her a message instead to at least wish her goodnight and arrange to see her in the morning. That made her heart glow and gave her something to look forward too as she understood the importance of whatever he was working on in the lab. Deciding to return the message to confirm that she would see him at 07:30 and to wish him goodnight, Thea then recorded her own message. " Hey Isaiah, your message made me smile, see you at 07:30 at the Mess Hall, Goodnight".Still smiling as she received confirmation that it had been sent, Thea then settled down under the covers and dimmed the lights, her head resting against the soft pillow, thinking of Isaiah as sleep began to claim her. ********************** With the freedom of letting her imagination run wild without any physical restraints or worries, Thea sound found herself in a familiar spot. One that she visited often in both her dreams and in reality, the lush greenness of the trees and the delicate smell of flowers from all over the quadrant, playing at her senses as she walked amongst them towards the bench that was nestled between a clump of trees. This had to be one of her most favourite places to just sit, admire the view and of course talk with the one person that had first introduced her to such a tranquil place within the park back on Front Ear.
Dream Isaiah was very much like the real Isaiah, handsome, caring and of course, enabled the kind of actions that only a couple shared. However as she neared what had become "their" bench, excitement coursed through her at the thought of meeting him. Smiling brightly as she saw him waiting for her, her pace quickened, wanting to feel his embrace. Then she was in his arms, feeling the warmth and happiness that she always associated with him ...... that was until the dream began to change suddenly, taking her away from Isaiah, desperately trying to hold onto him but whenever he got near, she would be pulled further from his grasp.
Terror replaced the warmth and love that she had been experiencing as she then found herself in the computer core and knew that she needed to get back to him ... but first she needed to find a way out.

[Temporary Quarter’s Deck 6]
Tom sat in front of the computer as he observed his Trial again. The man was silent trying to find clues to what happened, not what the Trial found, but the truth. Memories of being arrested again reminded him of the start of his downfall. From a Starfleet Captain to a common criminal. As he observed the video Tom observed Admiral Ellis, listening to the closing arguments by the prosecutor. Even though it was not evidence he was seeing something.
The Prosecutor remained standing and continued his statement “Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury, the Defendant here is on trial for his crimes and not his record. The Evidence showed that he used his connections with the Tal’Shiar from the Dominion War to try and sell Classified Information against Federation Interest. Even though the Romulans were our Allies during the War. They are no longer our allies. The connection is simple, during Operation Aurora, the Defendant met his future contact.”
“Computer Stop”. Tom commanded as the recording stop. Tom placed his hand on his chin and then continued “Computer display Plaintiff’s Exhibit CC” . Tom Commanded as the list of people involved in Operation Aurora. Tom read a couple of the names outloud. “Captain Thomas Jett, Captain Cyrus Clark, Admiral Ellis….only about 10 individuals knew of the operation including myself.”.
Jett learned back in his chair and wondered out loud “How did the Prosecutor, knew to investigate Project Aurora?….it was Top Secret. Could it be that one of these individuals is really involved to frame me? But why? Everyone on this list has no real motive to get Federation Officer killed.” . He continued touching his chin as he looked at the time. “Damn is late…better go to sleep”. Almost instantly Tom removed his shirt and then went directly to bed. “Lights” . He commanded as the run turned dark and he quickly went to sleep.
*** [S.S. Liberty – Captain’s Quarters] “Arrrggg…..It’s too early I don’t want to get up, Mom!” . Tom screamed as he covered his head with his pillow. The lights were on and it felt that it burned him. He tossed to the side away from the lights in a futile effort to go back to sleep.
“THOMAS MARION JETT, Get up right now. It’s time to go to school!” Mary Ann Jett, his mother screamed from the top of her lungs. It was easy to tell with her tone of voice that she was not happy. She placed her hands on her hip as she waited.
“School Sucks! Big Time! There’s no point on going to school if I’m staying on this ship” . Tom replied under his pillow as he closed his eyes again.
“You know what else sucks…”. Mary Ann responded as she walked to the closest replicator. Instead of doing voice commands she used the Pad in order to keep her surprise. Within seconds the replicator made the sound. “Last Warning” . She said out loud as a bucket of Ice-Cold Water was replicated.
Tom responded with thread by staying in bed and ignoring his Mother.
Mary Ann then quietly took the bucket of ice water and dump it on Thomas face. It was a direct hit as Tom felt the Ice Cold water drenching his face. He reacted by quickly getting up and taking a deep breath for a second he felt like the drowned. His face was cold and he was clearly woken up. “What the frack, Mom”. Tom reacted as he was clearly up.
Mary Ann took the bucket and placed on his bed. “One, you don’t use that language around me! Two, you will clean this mess when you get back home from school. Three, I want you having breakfast in ten minutes. And DO NOT make me come back to your room, Young Man!” She mentioned as she finger wag Tom. She turned around and exited Tom’s Room.
“My life sucks!” . Tom exhaled, as he began getting up. His Mom had the nerve to drench his bed. He was back to his body as a 15 year old teenager.

Tags: Isaiah Quinn , Thea Baker , Dugris Zaman , Thomas Jett [Thea's Nightmare] Why she was back here in the Computer Core, when she could be with Isaiah in one of their favourite places?. That was a thought perhaps question that played over and over in Thea's mind as she continued to look around for an exit, knowing that there should be one, after all it hadn't been that long since she was last inside this room. Even though she had survived being a hostage, her inner saboteur liked to remind her occasionally of what she could of lost, if her sheer bravery and confidence had in fact gotten her killed and now it was invading something positive and happy to punish her. That's what it felt like as she stopped to take a breath, fear clamouring at her chest when she needed to summon up that same bravery to find Isaiah, to tell him what he meant to her, but for some reason it now escaped her completely. Now she had a choice succumb to the nightmare or try to fight against it, remembering her late Father and what it had done to her Mother when she had lost him, how it consumed her and made her so overprotective that it had almost smothered Thea, forcing her to rebel. No she couldn't think like that and stood up tall or as tall as she could, determination slowly creeping up inside of her as she looked around once more. That was until she heard the voice, surrounding her and telling her with so much malice that she wouldn't find him or save him. For a moment, Thea went quiet as she tried to work out what the voice was and who it belonged too, then again given where she was, it could just as easily be her inner saboteur, wanting to punish her more for how she felt and how she didn't want to lose the one person, who had made her so happy these last few months. " I'm not listening to you anymore, I will get out of here, I will find him and save him".Terror abated for the time being as the determination took over, Thea moved up the steps to the next level, trying not to let the demons win as she resumed her search for the exit.

[S.S. Liberty Captain’s Quarters] “Hey Laura…guess who had some Holodeck time tonight?”. Tom asked himself as he looked in the mirror giving himself a sideways glance and trying to appear suave. He would then try and flick his head to make his hair move backward. “Nah…that sound to Pompous” . Jett said to himself. The teenager looked down and clasped his hand together as he tried and rebuild his confidence. “C’mon Tom, you have this. You can ask Laura out on a date. You have a holodeck time and maybe…I know she is the prettiest girl on the ship and school…you just y’know need to be confident….all right let’s try this again” Tom looked himself in the mirror and said “Laura, I wanted to say that you are great and I would like to get to know you better…maybe some holodeck time tomorrow…I have a reservation” . As he finished he tried to flick his hair again. And then he frowns to himself again. “That sounded to mopey and desperate. Why is asking girls out soo freaking hard!” The teenager said to himself. Without warning the bathroom door opened, as he observed from the mirror his mom's face as it was obvious she opened the door. Tom felt his face turning beet red as he felt the rush of it. He felt embarrassed and reacted with a scream “MOM!!!! PRIVACY!!!” I’m not a kid” Mary then closed the door again and responded “I’m sorry. I was checking in on you. You were here for a while and I don’t want you to be late for school” . With that statement, she walked away and waited for him in the dining room table. Tom looked himself in the mirror and said “My life stinks!”. He said as he grabbed his backpack and headed to the dining room. Jett entered the dining room area as he observed his Mom with a smirk in her face. Suspicious the Teenager picked up his piece of Toast and added butter to it. He looked at his mom with a strange look as he observed the smirk. He was already embarrassed by the recent bathroom incident. His Mom broke the silence with a smile and a small comment “Y’know, I was thinking that maybe we can ask Laura and her parents for dinner sometime…”. Before he could finish Tom looked down and stomp his foot on the floor “Ohhh MYYY GOSH!!!! Mom, you don’t get that would be embarrassing for me. You do you…but ….I ….I am not a loser”. Tom said as he began walking away. “I need to go to school….what time of Mom meddles in their kid's life?!?!” . Tom mentioned as he left his half eating Toast. “I need to go to school. My life sucks!” . The teenager said as he began leaving. “Love you…just be yourself and be confident.” Mary Ann said with a smile as she figured that he was struggling with the same thing as most boys his age. “Whatever Mom” . Tom said as he began walking away from his Mother. With this backpack on his back, he began walking to school when all of a sudden he observed the ship turn dark. “What the heck” . He said as all of a sudden the alarm on the ship became online. As the Alarm sounded, he heard the ship comm “Intruder Alert…Intruder Alert” “Damn it! We are being boarded” Tom said as he began running back into his quarters. As he entered his observed his Mother with a Phaser Rifle. “Thank God, Tom. Stay behind me, the ship is being boarded. They are putting a defense perimeter near the passager. We should head there.” . Mary Ann loaded the phaser rifle and checked the riffled aim system. “Mom, I’m 15 I can take care of myself. I know how to use a rifle” . He argued with his Mom. Mary Ann exhaled deeply as she looked around. “Tom, I don’t want you fighting. It can be dangerous” . Tom then headed to the weapons locker and said “We are ALL in danger…I can fight, I promise” . With a sense of defeat, she said “Fine I guess I can’t protect you forever. If you have that weapon, you need to do EXACTLY what I said and you stay close with me, Buster.. She mentioned as she lifted his rifle up and slowly walked in the hallway. Like a woman possessed she was on guard. Tom excitedly picked up the Riffle and though to himself. Time to take out the bad guys [/font]

[ MCPO Ozu Saya - Personal Quarters] At some point during her reading, Saya dozed off, still mostly sitting up against her pillows. Her head tilted to the side, and with a jerk she opened her eyes and found herself sitting in a different bed. A small bed. A quick glance around was all it took for Saya to recognize her tiny bunk from her childhood. Saya! Come and see, a faint voice called, but not the voice she had been expecting. It wasn't the first time she'd dreamed about her time on her father's ship, but Kyo had never been there before. She swung off the bunk, remembering just in time to duck so as not to bash her head on the low bulkhead over the bed, and tiptoed to the front of the ship where the controls were. Kyo sat at the helm station with Evekh on his knee pointing at the horsehead nebula on the viewer. Mama, look! Horse! Evekh flung a hand at the screen and the odd projection that gave the nebula its name suddenly transformed into a real, though gaseous, horse, rearing and plunging through the stars. I see. It's beautiful. Which was the only logical thing to say to an excited three-year-old. It was strange and jarring to see her own small family on the ship she'd grown up on. The parallels were disconcerting as well - Bajoran father, Vulcan (mostly) mother, hybrid child. It led her mind to the horrors that had occurred later, but Saya resolutely pushed them away. This was her family, and they were safe.

The StrangerUnusual to dream of such mundane things. It lounged on the edge of the fondue fountain, watching the Oldest One dream of dairy. It was unseen, merely a weight of a presence, perhaps felt by the eating dreamer inside. With a thought, it turned the flowing fondue to blood. [Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Dreamland]Doug noticed the fondue fountain turning green[fn]You never specified human blood[/fn], and runny. From inside, he wasn't sure what was going on. "I should check that out," the El-Aurian said to himself. After putting on a full suit, like the old-fashioned gentleman he was, Doug headed out to take a look. "This doesn't look like cheese," he observed, again to himself. "Doesn't smell like it, either."The fountain began to thud, as if something was going wrong.

[Thea's Nightmare] Why she was back here in the Computer Core, when she could be with Isaiah in one of their favourite places?. The StrangerIt did not believe the dreamer. Thea?A growing stench permeated the air on the next level. Shadows danced on bulkheads as the brand new flames flickered to light and licked the darkness. Something was burning. Is that you, pet?The voice of Marianne Baker, panicked, but that Yorkshire accent unmistakable as it raised in pitch over the sudden alarm that was piercing the dream. Thea! Help me![Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Dreamland]Doug noticed the fondue fountain turning green[fn]You never specified human blood[/fn], and runny. It pulled back, still watching, but retreating smoothly to the shadows cast by the huge moon-like object in the sky. Upon closer inspection, the orb amongst the stars would prove to be something a little more familiar to the dreamer. His homeworld's destruction was playing out before them, ruthlessly projected on the backdrop of night. The thuds of the fountain continued and the streaming green fluid became viscous. Lumps of something gathered at the bottom. [ MCPO Ozu Saya - Personal Quarters] At some point during her reading, Saya dozed off, still mostly sitting up against her pillows. Finally, potential. Still, limitations. Even in their dreams they limited their experiences. This one saw the past and the present all in one, and gave some cosmic beauty movement and life for her child. Yet, they remained seated in the box, sitting when they could be flying. Sometimes these creatures had difficulty grasping the freedom that was offered. It waited.

[Shavan Th’zhaar, Quarters, Deck 6]
Shavan sat hunched over a PADD and a plate of Orion wing-slugs, scrolling through messages and reports while picking at his late dinner. It was a quiet night on the Mac. He glanced at the time and sighed, knowing he should get some sleep before the early shift tomorrow.
…
Shavan stared at the dark metal ceiling of the small room as he lay in bed. Sleep, it seemed, was much easier wished for than came by. In small part due to the fact that when no other interruptions were present, his sleep was often plagued by nightmares. He shifted restlessly.
…
Still, some time later he must have drifted off, because the scene around him changed…
Shavan was standing outside on a dark city street. The moons of Orion hung dimly in the cloudy sky above. He turned, and smiled at the curly-haired, handsome young Romulan standing next to him. “Marok… I’ve missed you.” he whispered. He hadn’t seen his close friend and lover since leaving for the Front Ear, and in reality had left things… complicated. Shavan took his hand, and pulled him closer for a kiss.
Then quickly ducked out of the way as a swarm of living wing-slugs flew past in a rush. Straightening up, he watched them disappear down the street, and was left with the unpleasant sense that they were flying away from something. The shadows crept closer, seeming to move on their own. “We can’t say here.” Marok said quietly.
They ran through a maze of familiar alleyways, the shadows following, looming larger. Shavan skidded to a stop and wrenched open a door. When he stepped through, it was into a corridor on Front Ear. The door slammed shut behind him and vanished, Marok disappearing with it. Shavan stopped, heart pounding, reaching for the place where he had been. The walls of the corridor shifted, darkening and stretching. The wing-slugs flew around a corner in the distance.
Distantly he heard the sound of disruptor fire, and the floor rocked as if the station was under attack. Shavan was holding a knife that wasn't there before, but it would to do little good against shadows and unseen terrors. He ran down the corridor, towards the sound. The walls continued to shift, at times warping into other places pulled from his memory, but the sounds were getting louder, the shadows following behind him. He became aware of another set of footsteps running ahead of him, but they remained just out of sight…

The StrangerIt walked in the dreamer's footsteps, casually, unrushed, uncaring of the destination or the emptiness. Just behind, just beyond, merely a shadow dancing across the dimly lit passageways of the ship. With some curiosity it watched the creatures conjured; recognising them as remnants of terror. Shadows detached from his and joined the skittering predators as they chased, snapped, spat extracellular fluid at the one who flees. This dreamer did not confront, this dreamer was prey. The lights flickered, then died. The only sound then was the snarl of the tritter and the scream of the man. The turbolift doors closed, granting entry to the dreamer. [Lt. (j.g.) Isaiah Quinn - in a Living Nightmare] The moment never seemed to come. The sensation of the tritters' claws and teeth tearing at his flesh. Isaiah opened his eyes to find himself on the floor. Not of the turbolift. No, this time, he was on the Bridge, just behind his station. Confused as to how he had gotten there he pulled himself to his feet. There were a few panels blinking, a brief flash of sparks from a distant console, but no people. At least until his eyes fell upon.... "Thea!" Isaiah planted his hand on the railing and leapt over it onto the lowered floor of the Bridge. He made his way to the center where Thea lay unconscious. He instantly slid to her side, seeing the horrible gash upon her head, just as it had been before when they were near the Nebula searching for the Orunmila. "Oh my god, Thea! Help! Someone help!" Isaiah called out to the empty bridge. He reached up to tap his comm badge and called into the air. "Medical emergency, to the Bridge!"There was no reply of any sign, and no evidence that help was on the way. He looked down at Thea's unconscious form. He reached to check a pulse, and there didn't seem to be a sign of one. His eyes widened with horror. "No." He quickly raced to get the medkit tucked away near by. He returned to Thea's side and began scanning her with a tricorder. There didn't appear to be any life signs. "No. Nononono," he mumbled as he scrambled through the kit looking for the proper cartridge of medicine as he mentally calculated the dosage. Then, there was the scratching at the turbolift door. That accompanied with the muffled shrieks of the tritters. They were coming? He looked back at Thea, her appearance more pale than she had been mere seconds ago. He had to work faster... faster. His fingers scrambled, fumbling as he struggled to load the cartridge. The shrieks were getting louder. The sound of their claws tearing through metal was agonizing. Another look at Thea seemed to suggest that her body had deteriorated further. It almost appeared as if she'd been lying there for hours, perhaps days instead of minutes. His brow furrowed. What was happening? It didn't deter Isaiah from his efforts. He pressed the hypospray into her neck. He took the tricorder and scanned again. However, this time before his very eyes, Thea's body... her corpse deteriorated before his very eyes. It seemed that as the seconds ticked past, her body degraded by years instead. "What?! No! Thea, no!!" As he reached to grab hold of her, he could feel her remains crumble under his touch. It may not have been real, but it felt as real as ever. The scientist was too distraught and distracted to acknowledge a distant feeling that he was being watched. After all, what did it matter now?
