[Horror Movie Realness - Jupiter Star] [...] " Or so we thought" she remarked, before Niles informed them that there was still 27 other crew members still not accounted for as well as making his suggestion as to what they should do next. It did seem the most logical step to go to Engineering to give them a helping hand in terms of their investigation. She also agreed with them not splitting up until they knew more, a sentiment shared by PO Som. Considering everything, Thea made her decision, before someone lost the contents of their stomach and became vaguely aware of the holo recorder. In fact it took Thea back to her first experience dealing with a traumatic situation and the needless violence during her time at med school and the war. So she felt a surge of sympathy as she realised who it was. " Yes let's stick together and head for Engineering, hopefully we'll find more of the crew as we make our way there ... but first I want to check these poor souls, something isn't quite right".Stepping forward, Thea knew that she had to check, before they left and beckoned to Isaiah to follow. " I need you to record this quickly, so we can move but I'm certain from the way they've been attacked .... that they've had organs removed" she stated as she indicated the holes where organs had once been. Of course this was something that was unusual and only added more questions to this mystery. Once Isaiah was done and everyone was ready, then it was time to move as she just as quickly updated the Mac. =/\= Baker to Mac, so far we've found three of the crew dead and all indications point to them being murdered and until we can confirm, organ removal. We're planning on moving to Engineering to reestablish systems and hopefully locate the rest of the crew, will update further once we know more, Baker out =/\= [ LT (JG) Joshua Niles - Jupiter Star ]
The immediate series of reactions to the scene had been plenty, and it would seem that Commander Baker and Lieutenant Quinn had fared best, while Petty Officer Som was shaken but still in the game. The journalist, on the other hand, had not managed to keep herself composed, or hold of her breakfast. Apparently, the nausea must have blinded her, for she had not stepped away very far and when she doubled over and her stomach emptied itself, it had been all over his boots and the cuffs of his trousers. Well, it certainly was a good thing the issued boots went a little higher than the ankle, otherwise, it would be most, most foul all right. Not that the grand old mess that had spilled onto him was pleasant. However, he had managed to look up and away from this fresh puddle, and he took a moment to pat the journalist's back in a way he hoped would be considered comforting as he shook his feet one after the other to get the sick off of the synthetic material. "You're all right, no harm done," he simply said. Well, it would seem that for all her brashness a moment ago, she hadn't been prepared for this. But then again, who could be? And then, the word that some organs were missing brought a shudder to the young Lieutenant. That was... beyond anything he could have been trained for, and now he was right in the middle of it... but he couldn't afford to lose his nerve and his composure, so with the order to make for Engineering, he nodded. "Aye, Ma'am," he replied and while others were drawing tricorders, he drew his own weapon. Quinn had asked a valid question, and he would address that. "I'll take point, Mister Quinn. Petty Officer Som, I'm going to ask you to holster up and follow right behind me, tricorder out." With those directives given, the Tactical Officer started to lead the way towards the Star's engineering spaces, ready to fire should the need arise. [Lt. (j.g.) Isaiah Quinn - Jupiter Star] [...] After finishing packing up, and with samples collected, Isaiah turned his attention back to his tricorder. He made a few adjustments, and then heard the affirming chime. "According to the Star's schematics, Engineering should be that way," Isaiah said. He made certain that the torch on his wrist was lit, and then looked at Niles. "Did you want to take point or bring up the rear?" He deferred to the tactical officer's judgement on this matter, and would volunteer to assume the opposite role. Yet, no sooner than he had posed the question, that another thought came to mind. "Excuse me, Ms. Fox," he said. "Does your recorder project live feed? It was only fair that he asked first, but Olsen could potentially act as a bit of a scout if she was willing to grant them access to her device. It would certainly serve as a good look before they actually leapt into any awaiting danger. [Charlie Fox - The Killing Floor, Jupiter Star]Charlie wasn't at all sure it was alright; she'd been sick on the bloke and that was gross. Not to mention a possible contaminant to the scene. She wiped the back of her hand across her mouth and straightened up, her pale complexion giving way to the rosy tint of embarrassment. Yet Niles seemed strangely okay with it, that or he was a really good actor. She vowed not to play cards with the man. "I'll have them replaced for you once we get back to the Mac," she offered, her voice still a little strained. But there was no time for feeling sorry for herself or for worrying about clean up, it seemed. The news that organs had been removed from these bodies should not be surprising, considering the state of them, but yet the very concept of such a depraved act was one that she struggled to completely wrap her head around. Despite her weak stomach, she could not stop her eyes from sliding toward those three bodies. It was though the scene was calling her, begging her to commit it to memory so she could use it to scare the pants off all of her readers. Not that she'd have a hard time remembering this particular jaunt; she would likely see it in her dreams. It appeared though that one good thing came of her little away team faux pas - her escort left her behind to stomp up ahead and lead the troops. "Bossy, isn't he?" She muttered the question to nobody in particular, but then quickly straightened up and fell into step beside the science lieutenant who seemed curious about Olsen. "Yes, Lieutenant," she confirmed, recovering her equilibrium somewhat and thankful for the opportunity to focus on something that wasn't organless bodies or pukey boots. "He's a remnant of the war - repurposed tech. Used previously as an exploratory drone." She was neither aware that she was inadvertently offering what he needed, nor that she was referring to the piece of technology as a 'he'. "There's an automatic live feed to a server off-site, as well as locally." She shrugged her pack off her shoulders as they walked, uncovered it and rummaged briefly inside. When she pulled out a PADD she offered it to Quinn for his inspection. Once they reached the outer limits of the pre-programmed acceptable distance between target and tech, the holorecorder ceased its filming of the bloody floor, and picked up speed to follow. Charlie replaced her bag on her back, pulled the straps tightly with one hand, and popped a minty-fresh oral-care strip into her mouth.

[Ship Of Horrors - Let The Torture Continue] With her report given to Perry and those back on the gore and horror free Bridge, Thea took in the gruesome sight before her once more, knowing that she wouldn't forget in a hurry. Although as Isaiah confirmed her hunch regarding the victims and their missing organs, a shudder went down her spine, hoping that she had been wrong but the reality was, that she was correct. Thea did admit that having Isaiah close did help her to focus as she almost whispered back her response. " I thought as much but at least we now have proof".That's when she forced herself to look away, determined to find the others and hope that someone managed to survive and if not, she knew that they had paid the ultimate price and the crew would do everything they could to bring justice for this tragedy. As Isaiah finished his scans and informed them of the direction they needed to go in. Thea prepared to move off as her partner spoke with Niles about him taking point, before asking Ms Fox about the device that she had with her. She couldn't fault his thinking as Niles confirmed that he would take point and asked Kaya to follow right behind him, with her tricorder out. However as Charlie answered Isaiah, Thea's attention was momentarily on the response from the Mac. The Doctor understood why Perry wanted to send additional Security and appreciated his suggestion so when she replied, it was partly in agreement with that. =/\= Have a team on standby, I'll let you know if they're needed once we get to Engineering =/\= There was a quick look towards Isaiah then Thea began following the others with Niles in the lead, mentally and physically ready for what they might encounter on their way to Engineering.

Kaya had no argument and made the switch in equipment by rote and fell in behind Niles. This was no longer a search and rescue. Everyone was dead, obviously, organs harvested or dissolved or whichever was worse, so that made this, what then? A recovery and investigation. It felt wrong to leave the three bodies behind, exposed like that. Kaya didn't know what Andorians did with their dead but she knew humans took some kind of care. It wouldn't be for much longer, she hoped. In the meantime, she had her implicit orders - to get to Engineering and get systems up and running. If anyone on the Mac knew how to get computers to do things they didn't care to do, it was Kaya Som.

She explained that Olsen had been repurposed tech from the war, and even offered him a PADD which he presumed at the very least had Olsen's specifications upon it. "Thank you, Miss Fox," he replied taking the PADD. He skimmed through it, and it seemed that base protocols of Olsen's original programming was still there even if all of it wasn't currently active. "Miss Fox, would you if I... borrowed, Olsen?"He quickly realized that he probably should offer a bit more of an explanation. "I believe I can use Olsen to not only scout ahead, but to also expand our search radius. It would take a few uploads, such as the map of this vessel and modifications to spectral bandwith, but nothing that would affect his operating parameters. I can also remove any changes I've made once we return to the Mac." Isaiah's thinking was that he'd be able to use Olsen's infrared band to scan for any other bodies nearby, even on neighboring decks. Likewise, accessing Olsen's ultraviolet band could lead them to spot body fluids like sweat and saliva, which would typically go unseen. Though, seeing those fluids, Isaiah could take a sample and possibly get a clue that could lead to identifying who could be responsible. It was a long shot that it'd yield anything worthwhile, but it was still a shot.

[Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Bridge]Sir Doug approached the Tactical console like it was the most natural thing for him to be doing. He had just been invited, so now he had every excuse to be around. He examined it through his spectacles, noting the Warp trails "We can trace the decay of the Warp signatures, in addition to the signatures proper, to estimate when they were created. We'll need a broader scan for directionality," he hypothesized. "There should be two trails that intersect, one of them ending here. Those will be the Star and whatever intercepted it."Awkwardly sliding his hands in front of Harmon, the ancient man began to input a scanning algorithm. "On the bright side, we have sensors, instead of just binoculars," he pointed out optimistically. "Been there; wasn't fun."
Tag Admin , Matthew Harmon [ Commodore Calvin Perry - Bridge] The commodore listened to Harmon's report silently, tapping one finger to his chin in thought. There wasn't a great deal for them to go on, but investigating the warp trail would give them something to do while they waited to find out what had happened aboard the Jupiter Star. And that's when Sir Doug's purpose on the bridge became clear. Get a heading for us, if you can, he said mildly. And feed it to the helm so we can depart as quickly as possible when the away team returns.[Horror Movie Realness - Jupiter Star] [...] =/\= Baker to Mac, so far we've found three of the crew dead and all indications point to them being murdered and until we can confirm, organ removal. tag Isaiah Quinn Kaya Som Joshua Niles Felicity Ellis Admin , soft tags Bridge Dr. Baker called then, and Perry let out a quiet, Good God. Then louder, Perhaps we should send over an additional team of security, Doctor. He phrased it as a suggestion, hoping that Baker wouldn't see it as undermining her authority. The chances that someone had been left behind were relatively slim, or he would have just ordered it, and damn the goodwill he was trying to build. [LCDR Matthew Harmon - Bridge]Harmon continued to work with Doug to examine the residual warp trails to see what information could be gained from them. When Doctor Baker called in, Harmon's curiously was piqued even more. Organ removal? =/\= Commander Harmon to Commander Baker. Do you have any more information on the organ removal? Was it surgical or just a brutal? Post-mortem? Are the victims of multiple species or confined to one species? I'd like an autopsy as soon as possible. =/\= He knew it was unlikely they'd had time to examine it too throughout, but if the attackers were harvesting organs that could be a key lead. He could see if Intelligence had any records on organ trafficking and the more details he was given the more he could potentially narrow things down. While he waited for a response, he went back to analysing the warp trails. "Sir, I've managed to trace the warp trail to the outskirts of Talorian space," and therefor they were close to exiting Starfleet jurisdiction. "It's a fairly quick small to mid sized vessel from appearances and the way they've disguised the trails suggests its designed to be stealthy," he reported before looking to Doug for confirmation or anything to add. "Is any of this familiar to you?" He never knew when the eccentric Al Aurian might have some insight.

It was a long shot that it'd yield anything worthwhile, but it was still a shot. [ LT (JG) Joshua Niles - Jupiter Star ] "Don't worry about it," Joshua replied, managing a smile at the mention that the journalist would replace his shoes once they returned to the ship. If the transporter wouldn't filter out the filth, the Mac's laundry systems would take care of it all right; and if not, he'd just recycle them and replicate a new pair, nothing too onerous either way. However, despite how abrasive Charlie had come across at first, he could look past that. And with some luck she might be able to look past the fact he belonged to an organization she didn't much care for... No, time to focus on the mission... though the idea of asking her if the invitation to inspect her chosen underthings was still open floated through his mind, and generated a bit of a grin before he started on his way towards their next objective, letting Quinn figure out ways to use the recording drone to their advantage. When they had headed out on that particular mission, the newly-minted Lieutenant had taken the time to study everything he could learn about the Jupiter Star. Well, at least the relevant information, and that extended to her internal layout. Once pointed in the right direction, getting to Engineering would be trivial, especially as freighters tended to go for the smallest mass and volume possible devoted to the necessities of operating a starship, and the rest was the largest volume the warp field could enclose devoted to cargo holds. But there was another reason he was burying his mind into information that was essential to the mission: it kept it from wandering towards the gruesome mess they'd landed into when they had beamed over. Perhaps Charlie Fox could resort to humour to deal with that stress, but that wasn't the way he coped with immediate tension. As such, the trip was fairly short, and along the way they had encountered a number of bodies. All of them had been similarly mutilated, but the Tactical officer stopped after a little while, considering how they'd fallen. Some were on their backs, their heads towards engineering, while others were on their faces, their heads in the same direction and it had been their backs that had been splayed open. "Commander," he started, shining his light at some of the bodies. "Looks like the attack started back the way we came. Some folk were headed towards the commotion, and looks like others were running towards Engineering."Then, he started shining his lights on the walls, and he made a contemplative sound. The Jupiter Star was tightly run for a freighter; other than the eviscerated bodies, she was extremely clean and well-ordered, tidy. The bulkheads, therefore, did show signs of weapons impact. Some were coming from the direction he guessed the attackers had been coming from, and there was fire that had been coming from the direction of Engineering. Continuing ahead, he found that the doors to the engine room had been forced open, and beyond was a space that was almost painfully bright compared to the nearly pitch-black corridor. It would seem there had been emergency lights with an independent power supply, which would make sense, he supposed. Upon entering, it became clear that a group, four or five Niles judged, based only on the number of heads he could see as the bodies were intertwined inside and out. And, judging by the weapons around them and the sheer number of impacts on the bulkheads and a few consoles, they'd tried to make a stand there, and failed. "I'd say this is where they tried to make a last stand. Makes sense, if you don't hold engineering, you really don't have control of your own ship," he mused as he considered what was around him. Judging by just how thoroughly the ship had been powered down and left adrift, could the boarders have also shut down power on the Star in order to pretend she would be a hold in space, a few hundred meters and a couple million tons of cold metal floating about in the infinite blackness of space? In fact... "And I'd also say that the boarders powered down the Star themselves; there wasn't nearly enough external damage to leave her in that state, and something like the Breen weapon that was used at the Second Chintoka would have left some pretty serious traces."Immediately, he made for one of the consoles that was flickering the least and he set his weapon on top of it and reinitialized it off of its own internal power supply. "Petty Officer Som, time to do your magic. I'll try and get to their internal sensors and their logs. If I can get to the cargo bay monitors, I'll be able to tell if piracy was the motive, though I'm fairly certain it wasn't."

It was a long shot that it'd yield anything worthwhile, but it was still a shot. [Charlie Fox - Jupiter Scare]Charlie, who was automatically scanning her surroundings and trying (and totally failing) not to peer into the dark corners of the murder ship, spared a quick glance for Isaiah Quinn when he asked to borrow Olsen. A frown creased the spot between her eyebrows, but she remained quiet as she listened to the scientist expand on his request. It made sense, and it also meant that her recording equipment would see everything. An access all areas pass, so to speak, without her actually having to smell what it might capture in person. It was a win-win, really. "Sure, Lieutenant. As long as Olsen continues to record and the roll-back to his programming is temporary, then I don't see why not." She reached back out to take the PADD, and once in possession of it, would input her code for modifications. [ LT (JG) Joshua Niles - Jupiter Star ] [...]Continuing ahead, he found that the doors to the engine room had been forced open, and beyond was a space that was almost painfully bright compared to the nearly pitch-black corridor. [ PO3 Kaya Som | Jupiter Star, Engineering ]Arriving at Engineering was of little comfort. The way there had been littered with bodies and so too was Engineering itself, every corpse just as mangled as the one before. The only dread that dissipated was the dread or hope they were going to find anyone or anything alive. Kaya's system had defaulted to stone. Stone skin, stone eyes, stone heart. It made her feel just the slightest bit dizzy but it was better than exploding. The Jupiter Star wasn't Starfleet, but the systems were Terran so there was plenty to work with. Kaya found the main terminal, hooked in hardline, and got to work waking things up and getting acquainted. The voices of her teammates came through muffled. They were talking about splitting up. She sniffed to herself and shook her head. None of them had ever read a single thing by any number of horror genre authors on any planet? Just as long as she didn't have to leave Engineering... "Lieutenant Niles, I have that skeleton key," Kaya announced and sent it to his tri-corder. He'd be able to use the small program to get access like a native as the systems started coming back online. "That will get you into the logs which are just static. Need a few minutes for the other systems." It was strange, powering up an entire ship from almost nothing. Almost never happened and when it did, it was handled by the ship's own computer. It was a whole affair, very methodical, like carefully closing up a big house for the winter. You couldn't just start throwing switches. But as Kaya worked, it seemed more and more like that's exactly what someone had done. "This wasn't a proper shutdown," she said, remembering to share with the whole class. "There's a way you do this kind of thing, and this isn't it." Joshua Niles Thea Baker Isaiah Quinn Felicity Ellis

[ Commodore Calvin Perry - Bridge] The commodore listened to Harmon's report silently, tapping one finger to his chin in thought. There wasn't a great deal for them to go on, but investigating the warp trail would give them something to do while they waited to find out what had happened aboard the Jupiter Star. And that's when Sir Doug's purpose on the bridge became clear. Get a heading for us, if you can, he said mildly. And feed it to the helm so we can depart as quickly as possible when the away team returns. [...]Dr. [Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Bridge]Doug was as disturbed as anybody by the idea of organ harvesters, but he'd seen enough things in his thousand years that his look of horror wasn't his only reaction. "Pancreas pirates," he labeled them. "Or liver looters. Brain bandits. Spleen stealers. Lung lifters."After realizing how very tasteless he was, Sir Doug resumed analyzing, and so he had what to give Harmon. "There's a very slight disturbance to the warp signature, a throbbing. It looks like conjugated nacelles[fn]I made this up. In my headcanon, a conjugated nacelle is one with additional warp coils, for extra speed.[/fn]. You see those mostly with vessels built for speed, blockade runners, pirate ships, and so on. The pylon sometimes ends up with just a few microns of narrowing near the base, and that creates the throbbing. There can't be too many vessels with this technology operating out of Talorian space," the ancient man analyzed.

[Jupiter Star] With only their lights to guide them, it was easy to believe that they were in some kind of old fashioned scare movie as Thea continued walking along the route that Niles was taking them on. Occasionally they would pass a body, torn down and mutilated like the ones they had already seen, which didn't stop the horror or the sick feeling that continued to build up inside of her. Just because she was used to death didn't stop her from reacting to it, although the conversation from the rest of the away team, did allow her to focus on something else, rather than the stench and blood. Isaiah had a great idea in using Olsen for a different purpose, before the dulcet tones of Commander Harmon took her attention away for a few minutes. Listening to his questions and his request for an autopsy to be done as soon as possible, had Thea thinking back to what she had seen and also what her first job would be upon returning to the Mac. Her response would hopefully answer Harmon's questions until they had finished on the Jupiter Star. =/\= Baker to Harmon, going by what I saw it looked brutal as if the killers only knew where to target without any surgical skill. I can't tell at this time if it was done post mortem but the victims are of multiple species and acknowledged, once we're finished here, I'll do the autopsy =/\= It was slightly frustrating not being able to tell Harmon everything, but for the moment, Thea knew that they had to concentrate on finding the rest of the crew and get out of here, as soon as they were able too. However when Niles then informed her and by extension the team about where he believed the attack started and how some of the crew were headed in different directions, it made this feel more real. " Understood Mr Niles and judging by the positions of the bodies, I'd agree with your assessment".The proof was laid in front of them, her light illuminating each one, as she counted them, committing them to memory as Ms Fox agreed to Isaiah's proposal for Olsen. They would be indebted to the journalist for her assistance in this investigation, before the need for the lights became obsolete. It took a few moments for her eyes to adjust to the harsh emergency lighting in Engineering as Niles assessed the area and gave them some insight into what had happened. Thea saw no reason to disagree with it and hopefully they would gain further clues and proof to back that up, as he then spoke with Som, who quickly got to work alongside the security officer. When Ms Fox offered to check the cargo bays and mentioned what Isaiah wanted to do with Olsen, Thea considered her request and despite not wanting to initially split up, it seemed the most logical choice, so they could cover more ground. " Lieutenant Quinn, I would like you to accompany Ms Fox and check out the cargo bays with Olsen, hopefully we can find the rest of the crew and see if the supplies have been taken or not".Of course she didn't want to part from Isaiah but they had a job to do and she knew that he could handle this particular assignment, before Som shared with the group about how this hadn't been a proper system shutdown. Thea was beginning to think that whoever did this, wasn't an expert and it was beginning to show. " Given what we've seen so far and what we're starting to uncover, I'd say that the culprit or culprits aren't experts .. which makes them more dangerous. Let's get the systems online and once we've accounted for all of the crew, we can begin arranging for them and any remaining cargo to be sent to the Mac".

He smiled humorlessly at the El-Aurian's gallows humor as Dr. Baker expounded on what they'd found to Harmon. Talorians? he asked finally. Headed for Talorian space, but is the ship of Talorian design? I can't say I'm familiar with them. I hope that we aren't headed for a confrontation with an official envoy of their government. That would have far-reaching implications beyond what a pirate attack would have.
Helm, lay in the course as soon as Mr. Harmon and Mr. Zaman send it to you. Prepare to go to warp as soon as the away team returns.

[ Orya - Dies Irae, Outskirts of Talorian Space] Whilst some of the crew sneaked off to their bed chambers to have a more private celebration. Orya had decided to let them have their fun as she would indulge in the desires of the flesh when she had delivered their precious cargo to Luha. Not that she hadn't imagined what that welcome would be like and take great pleasure in proving the naysayers wrong. Those who said it was too risky and that it would bring about their devastation had clearly given up, preferring to side with their precious Federation and how the mighty organisation would save them all. No let them feast on the remains of the earth whilst thousands suffered and bring about their own demise. Well until her and her warriors returned and show that the old traditions hadn't been forgotten. That's what kept Orya going, especially with the notion of wiping their smugness and obliterating them. The Warrior Leader smirked at the thought, before sampling another piece of delicious organ, letting the blood run down the side of her mouth and onto her exposed chest. Catching the eye of one of her male underlings and gave him something to watch, before allowing him to kiss her. Biting his lip then pushed him away as she spotted her right hand woman, R'Tesh. " R'Tesh ... congratulations on a successful mission, I trust that everything is still in order for our arrival?".

[LCDR Matthew Harmon - Bridge] Harmon paid no attention to Doug’s rather indelicate puns and instead focused on formulating theories. The details Baker was able to describe, sloppy rough organ extraction suggested to him that perhaps whoever was behind this was more desperate rather than some sort of organised black market organ trading scheme. “We’ll have to wait and see,” he said as Perry mused about a potential diplomatic crisis. “I’m not familiar with their vessels designs but I will check our databases and see if we have anything on file in their fleet that match the profile of our suspect,” he said. “We’ve got reasonable suspicion this vessel may have been involved in or witness to criminal activity, we have grounds to pursue them. Perhaps we could see if we can contact the Talorian’s and inform them we are investigating a vessel near their space, give them some warning and explanation of why we’re so close to their border,” he suggested, “However that may be premature at this point, especially if there’s a possibility they’re involved in anyway.” Tag: Admin, Dugris Zaman

[ LT (JG) Joshua Niles - Jupiter Star ] [...] Continuing ahead, he found that the doors to the engine room had been forced open, and beyond was a space that was almost painfully bright compared to the nearly pitch-black corridor. If I can get to the cargo bay monitors, I'll be able to tell if piracy was the motive, though I'm fairly certain it wasn't." [Charlie Fox - Jupiter Scare]Charlie, who was automatically scanning her surroundings and trying (and totally failing) not to peer into the dark corners of the murder ship, spared a quick glance for Isaiah Quinn when he asked to borrow Olsen. She blinked in the sudden harsh light of engineering, her eyelids struggling for a few moments to stay completely open with the change from darkness to the glare. There'd been discussions with those back on the Mac, but until everyone begun to move toward the consoles, keen to solve this mystery, she'd had no real reason to speak. But what they were discussing then, while not directly in her wheelhouse, was potentially part of her job. "Lieutenant Quinn here had the bright idea of modifying my holorecorder to act as a drone. We can use it to find out whether or not anything else has been... removed."Tactful. Let's get the systems online and once we've accounted for all of the crew, we can begin arranging for them and any remaining cargo to be sent to the Mac".[Lt. (j.g.) Isaiah Quinn - Jupiter Star] As Lieutenant Quinn reviewed the PADD that Charlie had given him regarding Olsen's specs, he became more and more certain that he'd be able to accomplish what he had proposed. Charlie seemed fine with his requests as long as the modifications were temporary. He nodded as they continued their walked, handing her the PADD back so that she could authorize the modifications. "Here you are," he said as he offered her the PADD. "And none of these modifications should impact his recording. It'll simply offer a few more... 'angles.' " It was a rather crude interpretation, but it would make more sense once she saw it. "The modifications will only take a few moments to convert. As they reached Engineering, it appeared to be more of the same. He listened as Lieutenant Niles made his analysis of the scene and hypothesis of what had occurred known. Petty Officer Som also mentioned having a skeleton key of sorts to get Niles the access to the logs that he'd need to confirm his theory. Quinn had quickly set about obtaining samples just as he had from the other victims when he heard Charlie volunteer to go to the Cargo Bay. Naturally, she dropped his name regarding the modifications, which was accompanied shortly after by a 'we' in regards to actually carrying out a search of the area. It was bait and Thea seemed to take it. It all happened so quickly, that Quinn didn't even have time to question what had happened to the plan of sticking together. It wasn't that he was afraid, but despite his calm demeanor in examining the bodies, seeing this many dead people in a single setting was a tad unnerving. He finishing securing the last of the samples and rose to his feet. His eyes consulted the tricorder once again to look at the map. "Not a problem," he said simply. He pocketed his tricorder and drew his phaser in exchange. "Let's go." He moved over towards Charlie and then turned his attention to Olsen. "Head to the Cargo Bay. Advance 10 meters.Isaiah watched as the drone moved ahead in the direction of the Cargo Bay. It actually came to a stop at what seemed to be 10 meters. That was a nice buffer for safety's sake. Isaiah made certain to stand alongside Charlie, mainly to get a view of the PADD. "If you press here... we should get three views: the live feed, one in infrared and one in the UV spectrum." Each one would reveal its own bit of information. He began to move forward and as they did so, Olsen began to advance ahead, the data streaming back towards the PADD. As they moved through corridors, Isaiah kept his phaser in hand, but his eyes continued to rely on the feed from Olsen as their primary source of information. He glanced over at Charlie, and curiosity once again got the better of him. "If you don't mind me asking, why are you here?" the scientist inquired. "Or perhaps I should have asked, how? I thought reporters were only granted this level of access only during war time." Charlie having a presence on the station was one thing, but on a starship participating in away missions? It was just... unexpected, and thus all the more intriguing. "Stop!" he said suddenly. Isaiah's eyes were fixed to the screen. He eyed a single section of the bulkhead that stood out on the UV display. "Zoom in there." He waited for the image to magnify. Matching the area of the bulkhead from the screen, he started to dash towards it, pulling out his tricorder to scan the area. "It looks like a hand print. Organic perspiration and epidermal residue... but it's not human. He quickly reached into his kit so that he could collect a sample. He placed the sample at the end of his tricorder so that it could try to ascertain the species of origin. "It may take a while, due to degradation from the sweat."It was then that a casual glance at the feed from Olsen revealed something else. "The cargo bay should be just up ahe--" He fell quiet as he examined what he was seeing. He quickly cross-referenced what he was seeing with his tricorder. "According to Olsen, there are warm bodies up ahead in the Cargo Bay. However, something's masking their life signatures from my tricorder." Reaching up to tap his comm badge, Quinn spoke into the air. =/\= "Quinn to Baker. I think we may have found some remaining members of the crew. I'm reading heat signatures consistent with humanoid body temperatures, but my tricorder isn't picking them up. It may be due to some dense material lining a portion of the Cargo Bay, like a panic room... or some sort of radioactive emission from something within the Cargo Bay masking their signals. We're moving ahead to confirm. Stand by." =/\=He holstered the tricorder once more and move ahead. It seemed that Olsen was up ahead simply hovering in place as they approached the outside of the Cargo Bay doors. "It must be sealed," he surmised sense the drone hadn't been able to enter. "So, how do we get a group of people probably scared out of their wits to open the door?" There was a keypad next to the door, but even with a traditional 4-digit code, there were at least 1000 different combinations. He wasn't sure what sort of ideas, if any, that Charlie had to share.
