[Bridge - USS Mac, Valarian Sector] Approximately 4 weeks since the events of Slumber Change was something that Thea had learned very quickly to adapt too, especially during her tenure back on Epsilon. However since the reassignment of Captain Ellis and the loss of several other crew to the necessities of Fleet transfers, the CMO had been effected by it more than she normally would allow herself too. Perhaps it was simply because it was only them out here, patrolling the Frontier or because she had come to view the crew as her family, especially after what they had endured since their arrival in this region of space. Whatever the reason, Thea hoped that it wouldn't effect crew morale too much and with their current mission, knew that she had to step up more to ensure their success and prove to Command what the Mac was capable of. So here she was on the Bridge, in the centre seat that she was no longer afraid of, having both Science and Tactical scan for any signs of the missing freighter Jupiter Star, who Command had lost contact with over two days ago. Naturally there was a lot of concern regarding its whereabouts, especially with it being one of several ships that had gone missing lately and since the Mac had already been tasked with trying to locate the Orumila, Command had given them the assignment. So far their search for the Orumila hadn't produced the desired results, but that didn't mean that Thea was going to admit defeat on finding the missing ships. Plus she was also keenly aware of the risk it posed to Mandor III, the colony whose survival rested on locating the Jupiter Star and the vital supplies it was carrying in order to establish the colony. If this wasn't important enough, they also had one Commodore Calvin Perry on board, not that Thea had spent much time with him, since he had arrived prior to them leaving the station. Whilst he might not be a permanent replacement for Captain Ellis, she would show him the same courtesy as she would to any senior officer and his presence here would no doubt prove to be interesting. Along with the addition of Commander Harmon, from Intelligence who was joining them on this mission. For now she had duties to perform as she turned slightly in the command chair towards the science station and Isaiah, giving herself a moment to remember their trip to Aitrus V and how nice it would be to go back there, before she checked in with him. " Mr Quinn, what's our current status with the scans?" she asked, hoping there had been something, considering there had been nothing since they arrived in this sector. Whilst she waited for Isaiah to respond .. Thea addressed the officer at Tactical. " Are we still the only ship in this sector?". [ Commodore Calvin Perry - USS Mac - Personal Quarters --> Bridge] Commodore Perry tugged his tunic straight as he exited his quarters and headed for his first duty shift on the bridge of a starship in five years. He was slightly amused to realize he was nervous. This wasn't his first rodeo, but it felt like getting back on the horse after it had thrown and trampled you. He'd met with Commander Eastman briefly before boarding the Mac for this mission. There just hadn't been time for more. And he'd met Lt. Commander Thea Baker even more briefly. The CMO and acting first officer. Meeting her had been like a punch to the gut - her looks, the red hair, even her name. Calvin nervously twisted his brushed titanium wedding ring around his finger. The turbolift ride was quick and smooth, and the commodore couldn't help but be impressed with the sovereign-class ship. She was lovely. The name was unfortunate, though not as bad as that of the station. Calvin shook his head and chuckled. Front Ear, absolutely ridiculous.A quick, deep breath as the doors opened, and Commodore Perry was stepping out onto the bridge. He stood there a moment, looking at each of the officers busy at their stations, before striding down to stand beside Commander Baker in the captain's chair. Commander, or do you prefer Doctor? What's our status? He clasped his hands behind his back, continuing to rotate his ring.

What's our status? He clasped his hands behind his back, continuing to rotate his ring. [ Lt (JG) Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ]It felt good to be back on the Mac. Of course, it was part of a junior officer's life to be exposed to many facets of Starfleet life as to be able to perform at least reasonably well should one be put in a different or unusual position. And, as it would seem, he had been exposed to some that had made an impression on the powers that be, and while the weight was negligible at best, that black pip on the recently minted Junior-Grade Lieutenant's collar felt as though it weighed as much as a planet. It was a sign of the esteem he was held in, but it was also a burden for now he had to prove to those same people who recognized his ability that he was worthy of the rank. So now that he was back where he belonged, at a starship's primary Tactical console, everything seemed to be right with the world... Almost. Captain Ellis had been reassigned, and somehow the ship seemed... smaller with her gone. However, that was the nature of life in the service, and if there was one thing this enterprising young officer would have liked, it would have been a chance to learn more from her. But, in the here and now, they were hunting for a missing freighter, one that had been carrying vital supplies for a colony world. And looking for a target with a length measured in hundreds of meters in a volume measurable in dozens of cubic light-years? Needle, meet the haystack, and Joshua Niles was all out of magnets. Which meant than when asked about the status of his search, he looked up from his board and shook his head. "Sorry to report, Ma'am I'm not seeing any other ships out there." Unfortunately, that meant there was very little he could do for himself. The area was too remote, and too far from any known major power to be thoroughly seeded with listening posts and sensor platforms... however, there were shipping lanes in the area which meant he might have found something resembling a magnet for that needle. Or, at least, something to detect a needle's minute magnetic field... "However, Ma'am I might have an idea. What if we were to query local subspace relays? Maybe they'll tell us if the Jupiter Star or the Orumila pinged off of them?"As he spoke, Commodore Perry entered the Bridge, but given that he was speaking to Commander Baker, then, it was not his place to let his presence be known just yet. Instead, he returned his eyes to his sensors and his readings, and kept looking for anything that could indicate the presence of a warp-capable vessel.

Instead, he returned his eyes to his sensors and his readings, and kept looking for anything that could indicate the presence of a warp-capable vessel. [Lt. (j.g.) Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac] It wasn't typical behavior, but Isaiah found himself a distracted from his scans. Truth be told, the computer was doing the majority of the work, and it would have alerted him should any sign of the Orunmila or the latest missing vessel, the Jupiter Star. His thoughts were on one of his colleagues that had perished at the hands of that mysterious creature that had attacked the Mac before, placing the entire crew in some sort of slumber. The problem being that everyone had awakened with the exception of Ensign Tara Lennon. He could remember telling her to knock off early and that he'd finish things up in the lab. He wasn't certain if it was human nature or scientific curiosity that had him wonder if things would have been differently if he'd altered some variable, such as having her remain until the experiment was done. His attention was captured by the sound of his name as Thea spoke, inquiring about the status of the scans. "No sign of either ship after completing 43% of the current search grid, Commander," Isaiah replied. There was that strange sensation of remaining professional in how they addressed one another when on the Bridge. Of course, it may have been even more important to do so with the addition of their new commanding officer. Commodore Calvin Perry had been assigned to the Mac shortly after Captain Ellis' sudden reassignment. He wasn't privy to any details, but at this point, the only thing that most of the crew could do was speculate. The newly promoted Lieutenant (j.g.) Niles made the suggestion of checking with the local subspace relays to see if they could narrow down some of the last known locations of either ship. He considered commenting on the suggestion when the doors to the turbolift parted, and Commodore Perry himself stepped on the Bridge. As he addressed Thea directly, Isaiah turned his eyes and attention back to his station. While there was great concern about the Orunmila, the Jupiter Star had been ferrying supplies that were greatly needed on Mandor III. Essentially, they needed a win on this one, not another question mark.

[NPC - PO1 S'Riia - Quarters -> Security Office, USS Mac[/font] There were certainly times such as this that S'Riia wished she'd had an actual shower instead of the sonic one. A shower where actual water, hot water would just rain down upon you and just wash away all the grime, the stress... things you simply didn't want to think about. It was one of life's simple pleasures that could easily be taken for granted. Of course, drying off was another matter all together... at least of her. S'Riia hastened through her routine as usual. After slipping on her uniform, she was out the door, with a single PADD in her hand. She was skimming through all the reports that had been filed the day before, partly to stay abreast and also to make certain everything was in order for the lieutenant. After a short ride in the turbolift, she made her way to the security office. She placed the PADD she'd been carrying down, and picked up one that had been waiting for her. It was the times from the drills this morning. Her lips curled with dissatisfaction. This wasn't going to do. "Computer. Schedule Incursion Protocol Drills for 1400 hrs. Alert each member of the security teams engaged in this morning's drills, she said. The computer gave the acknowledging chime. A long sigh left her lips. She knew she was due to check in on the Bridge shortly, but there was one last thing to do. "Computer, upload inventory for both armories on this PADD. Let's start with Deck 5." With the PADD in hand, she moved to exit the door, prepared to continue with her laundry list of duties.

[Bridge] When Isaiah answered her, she could tell that he was just as frustrated as the rest of them, with the lack of results and the strangeness of calling each other by rank, when they were used too forgetting about it whenever they were together. She was sure that it would get better as time went on and become less strange, but for now she did smile, before the newly promoted Lieutenant Niles acknowledged her. Again the lack of traffic wasn't too surprising given this particular search area, but still there had to be something, some tiny piece of the puzzle that would allow them to find the Jupiter Star. Although when Niles made a suggestion about checking out to local subspace relays to see if the Jupiter Star had used them, she gave it some serious consideration as it couldn't to try his idea. However, before she could answer either one of them, the doors to the Bridge opened, announcing Commodore Perry's arrival. Thea noticed him look around and observe the officers on duty, before he made his way down to the command area and ask what she preferred to be addressed as, then asked for a status update. She may not of been around him for long, but there was something about him that she couldn't quite pinpoint and hoped it was just her imagination, especially since they had to work closely together, if he was to familiarise himself with the ship and how the Mac operated. " Doctor is fine Commodore" she replied in her usual friendly tone, then continued in order to answer his next question. " So far Lieutenant Quinn has completed 43% of the current search grid with no results, I was about to order him to increase sensor range. Also Lieutenant Niles, has reported that there are no other ships in the vicinity and suggested that we check with local subspace relays in case they had contact with the Jupiter Star, I thought it would be worth trying".After delivering the status update, Thea waited to hear the Commodore's thoughts before proceeding with the next batch of orders.

[Lieutenant Commander Matthew Harmon - Quarters —> Engineering] Harmon detested space travel. He suffered from the relatively uncommon warp sickness, which usually was eased by medication, however this time his usual medication didn’t seem to be completely dispel the mild nausea he faced. He had been lucky to spend much of the war on Romulan singularity powered vessels and after that on space stations and shore postings. However, today he had decided to accompany the USS Mac on its mission. The Valarian sector was usually a quiet region of space, however several ships had been reported missing recently which has piqued his interest. That was the offical reason he used to barge his way on board (as an Intelligence Lieutenant Commander he was relatively freely to chose his own assignments at least between the Mac and the station), however he had an ulterior motive. Captain Elis has mysteriously being reassigned with little explanation. Though he wouldn’t admit it, Harmon was disappointed. He respected her and was not pleased to see an officer of her caliber go. What was even more mysterious was the arrival of Commodore Perry. This was hardly a prestigious, important or even interesting posting so Harmon’s curiosity was piqued enough for him to do some snooping. The warp sickness had the fortunate benefit of giving him an excuse for his hangover. Eastman was still watching him closely so it was good to have her off his back for a little while. Though he suspected she may have stuck her own spies on him. Having dragged himself out of bed and carefully gotten dressed, making sure he looked proper and professional in his uniform, Harmon was now heading for Engineering where the computer has identified Dugris Zaman was. Harmon had interacted with the man a few times, he was eccentric and talkative, and while many may have expected Harmon to dislike the man the opposite was actually true. He had a certain charm that endeared him to even Harmon. More importantly, he knew things. And people. He knew all the gossip that was worth knowing. Harmon had always, since he was a young boy enjoyed gossip, and now as an Intelligence Officer his job was practically glorified gossiping and snooping. He entered engineering, squinting a little at first as his eyes adjusted to the light. He quickly spied Doug chatting with the crewman Chloe had worked with a few months ago and another crewman he didn’t recognise. “Ms. Som, Sir Doug,” he greeted politely as he approached them. “I apologise if I’m interrupting anything. I was just getting myself better acquainted with the ship, and more importantly the crew.” Tag: Dugris Zaman, Kaya Som

"That's Dihiq," Kaya supplied the name of the scrawny Klingon. She was about to ask Sir Doug more questions about what type of poker called for metal chips (not that it mattered because she wasn't at all interested) but Jin coughed loudly, made a hasty excuse, and disappeared back to her station. They'd been joined by the ashy station-side intelligence officer. Kaya only knew who he was because she'd helped extract security footage from the Blue Beta break in a couple months ago. "Lieutenant Harmon," Kaya said, turning and blanking her screen in one motion. The official press photo of Commodore Calvin Perry disappeared and a top level systems status screen took its place. "Commander Harmon," she quickly adjusted. "You're - you're good. It's nothing." She crossed on leg over the other, reversed it, then cleared her throat. Matthew Harmon Dugris Zaman

tag Isaiah Quinn Joshua Niles Admin [ Commodore Calvin Perry - Bridge] Sounds like a plan, the commodore said with an almost absent smile at the young woman. He rocked back on his heels for a moment and took another glance around the bridge. Good crew you've got here. Very good crew, he added. It was unusual for doctors to be comfortable in the captain's chair, but this Thea Baker seemed to be quite in her element, at least to outward appearance. Perry smiled again, and said, I'd like to speak with you in my, the ready room, if you don't mind tearing yourself away for a little while. We had to head out so quickly, we haven't had any time to, well, get to know each other and establish how we're going to work together.

I was just getting myself better acquainted with the ship, and more importantly the crew.” Tag: Dugris Zaman, Kaya Som[...] "I don't know if he's on the market, but I do know some other things," the ancient man commented while taking a seat himself. "You didn't hear it from me, but there's an interesting gap in his service record, starting after the war. And they say that scrawny Klingon in docking ops found a series of metal chips while scanning his bags," Sir Doug divulged. "I'm guessing they're poker chips, but I wouldn't know."[...] [...]He entered engineering, squinting a little at first as his eyes adjusted to the light. He quickly spied Doug chatting with the crewman Chloe had worked with a few months ago and another crewman he didn’t recognise. “Ms. Som, Sir Doug,” he greeted politely as he approached them. “I apologise if I’m interrupting anything. I was just getting myself better acquainted with the ship, and more importantly the crew.” [ PO3 Kaya Som | Engineering ]Kaya was nanometer from openly smacking Jin in her cute little ridged nose, spreading her business around in front of the worst gossip in the quadrant, but Mr. Gossip himself had goods. Matthew Harmon Dugris Zaman [Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Engineering]More than a little amused, Doug noticed the reaction to Harmon. Despite the man being in trouble with command - or so Doug heard - most people seemed to look at him and his new pip as an extension of it. If only they knew what Doug knew about Harmon's problems. "I'm surprised you're here with us, and not up there with the Commodore," Sir Doug pointed out, almost questioning. "Did you already get the chance to meet him?"Doug knew the Commodore had rushed through the station, and had stopped in the upper levels (presumably for Eastman), but he didn't know who else the man had encountered, Surely the #3 (excluding Perry) Officer on the duty station was on his list. "In any case, care for some cheese?" he added as he took a package of Terran gruyère out of his suit pocket.

[LCDR Matthew Harmon - Engineering]
Harmon smiled slightly as Kaya corrected herself about his rank hastily and then raised his eyebrow at her as he noticed she quickly removed the Commodore’s photo from her screen, though he gave no other indication or acknowledgment that he had noticed. There were plenty of pompous officers who went around showing off their new pips and scolding anyone who accidentally referred to them by their old rank, however Harmon was not one of them. It didn’t bother him in the slightest, though he did find it amusing when junior officers or crewmen seemed to panic. “Congratulations on your promotion,” he said noticing her insignia. “Well deserves I’m sure, you were quite helpful back on the station.”
He then faced Doug, and answered his questions. “I’m sure the bridge crew is quite capable of handling the search themselves,” he explained. “I’ve not had the...pleasure of meeting the Commodore yet, no. He didn’t stop buy on the station and we’ve yet to cross paths since our departure.” Which Harmon was quite content with. If at all possible he liked to know who he was dealing with when he first met people. “No thank you, I’m alright,” he said declining the offer of cheese. “Have you had the chance to meet our esteemed Commodore yet?” He asked with just the slightest hint of sarcasm on the word esteemed. “It seems odd that a flag officer would concern themselves so directly with our corner of the galaxy. I wonder if he pissed off someone above him,” he queried, aiming to subtly probe Doug for what he might know.

[...] " Doctor is fine Commodore" she replied in her usual friendly tone, then continued in order to answer his next question. [ Commodore Calvin Perry - Bridge] Sounds like a plan, the commodore said with an almost absent smile at the young woman. [Lt. (j.g.) Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac] As Isaiah continued to work at his station, he listened as Thea explained to the Commodore the progress (or lack thereof) that had been made in their current search. She also brought him up to speed on Lieutenant Niles' plan as well. The Commodore seemed to give his blessing, but it quickly became apparent that that wasn't his only reason for making his presence. Perhaps it was instinctive upon hearing the request, but Isaiah did glance up from his station as he asked to speak with Thea in his Ready Room. Perhaps there had been some late development already. If so, it would certainly make sense that he'd want to confer with his first officer. Of course, it could be a sign of some sort of change in their orders. Perhaps it was his nature as a scientist, but curiosity had certainly struck Quinn. Taking a deep breath, he renewed his attention to his station. This was the current mystery that lay at his feet. He'd run nearly every scan he could think of. So, perhaps it was his approach. Perhaps instead of focusing on where the Jupiter Star was located, he could focus on where it could be. "Computer, continue running active scans," Isaiah said before turning and getting out of his seat. He moved to the science station behind him. "Computer display the Jupiter Star's scheduled flight plan." He watched as the star chart and flight plan appeared on the screen. "Eliminate current areas already scanned." He watched as some of the map was colored in, eliminating those regions. At least this way it appeared that they had actually made some progress. "Highlight known outposts, relay stations, poplulace stations and M-Class planets and moons in the remaining areas."Isaiah continued to scrutinize the map. He'd like to think he'd knocked some of the hay off this stack, but the needle was still buried deep within. His eyes shifted towards the tactical station. "Mr. Niles?" he said trying to gain the tactical officer's attention. "I believe we may be able to further narrow our search if we combine our efforts. The information you gain from those subspace relays... and any records we have of hostile activity in this region as well."
