[NPC - Specialist Javik - Shuttlebay, Soteria ] [...] "I am Javik," he replied simply. He studied her a bit longer, making certain that he was correct in his assumptions. "You are a Bolian, correct?" he asked. He only had a small pool of comparison, but she was definitely different that the Bolians he'd met before. "It is strange. I thought all of your people's speech was... annoyingly nauseating." [ Avi Moz | Shuttlebay, Soteria ]"Oh no," Avi reassured him, "it is. Scientifically, as a species, we are are absolutely obnoxious." And that's when something happened. The stars out of the portholes suddenly spun and in the distance some kind of alarm was going off. "Lovely." Avi curled her lip and moaned. They were two for two, the Mac and the Soteria, and the more friction between them the more heat that put on any potential spies in their midst. She chucked the rag into the recycler slapped her comm badge. =0= Shuttlebay to Engineering - what. =0= Shortly came the reply. =0= Private Moz..., =0= came the reply, exasperation with Avi's persistantly insubordinate tone. =0= You will have your orders when you have them. Just ... be ready if the Owl-1 needs a tune up. Engineering out. =0= Avi flicked a hand at Javik indicating her own irritation, then left him where he stood to do whatever 'be ready' meant. She stalked over to the entrance to the storage banks, a honeycomb of closets, rooms, and panels stocked with all sorts of equipment. It was often a mess, the shuttle mechanics just throwing stuff in, and the engineers unbothered to clean it up. Avi assumed there'd be some emergency gear. She began ransacking her way through the piles of crates, moving kits and lifting tarps. In her hurry, she knocked something with her elbow, a canvas cover snagged and she found herself looking at something she hadn't seen in a long time. She smiled. Then as quickly as she could, she locked herself in. =//= Harmon. Harmon, come in. =//= Matthew Harmon Isaiah Quinn (Javik)

[Crewman Jovireh Velal - USS Mac - Bridge]As Lt. Commander Harmon ordered weapons to be powered and shields on stand-by, Crewman Velal obliged, grateful she had finished her pizza slice when she did so she now had both hands free. The Ops officer got the two from the Hera to Sickbay, so she could focus on the ships themselves. "Tractor beam locked on. Bringing the Hera back in." So much for having an easy first shift as Tactical officer. Commander Eastman seemed reluctant to turn this into a firefight, for which Jovireh was grateful. Hopefully the Nyberrites shared the sentiment. But that begged the question... Who had fired on the fighters? "Owl-1 shows minor hull damage, though it doesn't look like they took a direct hit. Weapons and shields are powered down, engines disengaged. The Soteria's weapons and shields are also powered down." This didn't make any sense... Someone had to have fired that shot. Hopefully Quinn would be able to gather more information from his station...

[Crewman Jovireh Velal - USS Mac - Bridge]Both fighters entered the viewscreen, Lt. Commander Quinn reported no unwanted presence in the area, and for a moment there was a lull in her duty. Jovireh took that moment to quickly finish off the slice of pizza that was in her hand, alternating her gaze between the viewscreen and the console in front of her. She hated multitasking... it made her anxious, like she was going to miss something. But as everything was thus far going according to plan, the Crewman allowed herself a few moments to relax. Maintaining a watchful eye, just in case there were any sudden changes, she shifted her posture to ease the strain on her neck while she could. Commander Eastman caught her attention once more, this time with a broad question instead of a direct order. Jovireh grinned a little bit. This was definitely not how she had been expecting her first shift on a Bridge to be, but she was gradually learning that the older woman cared far less for formalities than the other commanding officers she had served under. It would take some getting used to, but she certainly wasn't going to insist on sticking to a tightly-run ship. "A little more meat is never a bad thing," She replied to the request for suggestions. While the cheese and vegetable pizzas were delicious, meat made everything better. [Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac ] Isaiah stood at his station, a smile crept upon his face as the other members of the Bridge crew proceeded to discuss how to improve the pizza that Commander Eastman and her husband, Max, had prepared. Personally, Isaiah thought it was a tall ask. Having sampled some of their delicacies, he couldn't imagine many ways that it likely could have been improved. It was only a slight alert from his console that quickly captured his attention and wiped the smile from his face. "Commander! Telemetry link with the Hera is down. She appears to... to have taken damage," Isaiah stated, his voice indicating his surprise. "The ionization levels surrounding both the Hera and Owl-1 suggests weapons fire." His eyes rose to look in Commander Eastman's direction, wondering what the woman's response would be.

[NPCs - Colonel Helena Vasser & Alpha Sergeant Gorsk - Bridge, NSS Soteria ] Vasser was already on her feet and moving towards the main viewer as the images appeared on the screen. She could see the image of both small craft. There was debris scattered between the shift, neither had their engines engaged. "What the hell is happening out there?!" Vasser asked, wanting immediate answers. "There is definite evidence of weapons fire," Gorsk stated aloud. Her hands moved over the console as she continued to search for answers. "Who fired on whom?" Vasser asked. Gorsk looked up from her station, the look on her face as stoic as ever. "The hull of the Hera appears to have incurred some sort of weapons damage."Vasser's hand clinched tightly closed as she stared at the screen. "Get Captain Mauroos on comms now," Vasser ordered. "Helm prepare to take us in." Vasser rounded on her communications officer. "Hail the Mac." After hearing the affirmation, Vasser spoke into the air. =0= "Soteria to Mac. We are approaching to render any assistance needed to both ships. I repeat... we're approaching to render aid." =0=[Crewman Jovireh Velal - USS Mac - Bridge]Hearing Quinn's report, Jovireh's gaze dropped to her own panel, silently cursing herself for having looked away from it in the first place. Her breath caught as she read the readings coming in from the Hera. He was right - it had to have been weapons fire. "Hera's shields and communications are down, engines damaged. Main power and life support still operational. Two life signs on board... though one is failing." She paused, double-and-triple checking the readout to ensure she wasn't about to report falsely. Then her gaze lifted to focus on Commander Eastman. "It's the Commodore." What the hell had happened out there? A quick scan of the Owl-1 showed them to be in far better condition. Near-perfect condition, actually. Minor signs of damage, but nothing as severe as the Hera. Jovireh swallowed back the lump in her throat, keeping her eyes focused on the continuous scans, waiting for the Commander's orders. [LCDR Matthew Harmon - Bridge, USS Mac]Harmon only nodded in response as the Commander leaned in to whisper to him that she was on his side in regards to the Alliance. He knew that was the case, and was grateful, though he kept his eyes on his PADD. "Some more pineapple next time would be good," Harmon replied to the Commander when she asked about ways to improve the pizza, looking up from his PADD momentarily. He knew she had an irrational disdain for the succulent meal that was a Hawaiian pizza, but decided to make the comment anyway, partly as a joke, though his deadpan tone may have made that unclear.
Then, everything went predictably wrong. Weapons fire all of a sudden, followed by an immediate message from the Soteria that they were moving in to assist. Harmon wasn't quite sure what to make of Vasser's message. While the logical conclusion as per Occam's Razor was that the Alliance had acted against them again, there was something off. Vasser seemed different, she seemed tense and her usual bravado was nowhere to be seen. It was possible she was just anxious about attacking Starfleet and her offer of assistance was a ruse, but Harmon wasn't so sure. "Charge weapons and prepare to raise shields. Can you lock onto Perry and Aravis and beam them out?" he ordered. "Recommend ordering the Soteria back off and that we close towards the fighters and lock on tractor beams," he said to the Commander. [ Lt. jg Aravis - Hera] Aravis gasped, momentarily blinded by a bright flash, then coughed as she inhaled a bit of smoke before the fire suppression system kicked in. The right side of her face felt hot, tight and painful. Commodore? Commodore! Aravis unstrapped to try to see Perry. She reached forward and could only just reach his pulse to determine that he was still alive. Aravis had no idea what had happened. Her console had given no signs of anything being wrong before the explosion. They were adrift, and Aravis just ensured that they weren't about to run into anything before trying to use the comms. She quickly determined that the system was down, so the lieutenant tapped her combadge and hoped that they were still within range of the Mac for them to pick up the signal. =/\= Aravis to Mac! Mayday! We've had an explosion. Most systems are down and the commodore is badly injured. Mayday! We need immediate assistance! =/\= It was all she could do. The downside of this sort of vessel was that she couldn't get to the pilot to render aid. [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Ens. Mabel Henriksen - Bridge, USS Mac]Before Judy could explain the constraints of her kosher lifestyle (no meat), or go after Harmon for his pizza heresy, everything went to hell in a handbasket. "Oy vey iz mir," the aging Commander muttered, as the situation crystallized more and more around her. The tension was palpable, and it was clear as day that, whatever happened, things could yet get worse. "We're being hailed by the Soteria and Lt. Aravis," Mabel reported. "Put them both on," Judy ordered, in the usual, restrained tones of her speech. =A= "Lieutenant, acknowledged. Help is coming. Mac out," =A= were Judy's first words over the Comm. The crew were like children to her, and right now, Lieutenant Aravis was in distress; she needed to be calmed down, and to be rescued. "Let's all take a deep breath. If we act on impulse, we could make this even worse," Judy advised, very deliberately trying to temper in the youths on her bridge and the Soteria. "Soteria, acknowledged. We're moving in as well. I advise that you let us take point on the rescue effort; we do have the facilities," she continued, using the same understated delivery to essentially tell the Soteria to back off, in the nicest way possible. "Now, let's get a transporter lock on our people if we can. Beam them straight to sickbay," she ordered. "Yes, ma'am," the junior officer at Ops acknowledged. Perry and Aravis would materialize in the sickbay. "Mute our audio. I want to hear what they say, but not be heard," Judy ordered, and it was done. "Let's try to tractor the Hera out of there, and run scans of the area and the Nyberrite ships. If they took that shot, we need to know," she directed Jovireh and Isaiah, still intently keeping her cool. The last thing Judy wanted to do was start a war right now by being reckless.

Tania understood his reasons for doing so as he then asked if Dr Baker had any personal preferences that made things easier as opposed to just Fleet standard. The Nurse thought about it for a moment then looked at Paawin as she answered the question. " Dr Baker tends to stick to Fleet standard. Although apart from the equipment trays, to save time all other equipment, hypos etc are stored according to use and priority so they're easier to grab, rather than spend that time looking for them". Tania then paused before adding. "She also values our input and opinions, whatever the situation or issue".
Tag Jovireh Velal [Lt. Paawin Riyo - USS Mac - Sick bay]It was rare for a doctor to stick so closely to Starfleet standard organization, but definitely useful when someone else is covering the Sickbay. He nodded in understanding, grinning a little as the nurse told him that Dr. Baker valued the input of all of her staff. "Smart doctor," he said simply, implying that he did the same. Some might be concerned at the frequency of which the staff he worked with voiced their opinions, but he always appreciated and encouraged them to do so. This would be no different. "As you can probably tell, I do things a bit differently myself. But I'd be happy to -" His voice was cut off by the familiar whir of the transporter, and he spun around to see two bodies materializing on the biobeds between the curtains. Looks like Tania would have to learn his method the hard way after all. In a heartbeat he was standing between the two biobeds, tricorder in hand. What the hell had happened out there? The lieutenant was in bad shape, but conscious, so he focused his attention on her while he ran the scans. "It's alright, Lieutenant, you're safe in Sickbay. I'm Doctor Paawin. Can you tell me your name and what happened?" As a true professional, he kept his voice steady and free from the rising panic as he saw the readings from the Commodore. He gestured for Tania to begin treating her, and disappeared behind the curtain next to Perry. Pulling the tray slightly closer so everything was within easy reach, he immediately set to work, still listening to the conversation behind him as he set about trying to stabilize the Commodore.
Tag Thea Baker (Tania) Ozu Saya (Aravis) soft tag Admin (Perry) [ Nurse Tania Logan - Sickbay, Deck 7] Tania smiled when Dr Paawin responded so positively to what she had said about Dr Baker and how he had then implied that he used a similar method. In fact Tania was looking forward to working the current shift with him and adapting to any changes that would make it more comfortable for him. The nurse was also enjoying being able to talk like this and to someone who would no doubt bring a positive difference to Sickbay. However before she could answer him, they were interrupted by the sound of the transporter, bringing them two injured officers. Both she recognised instantly before her brain engaged at the unexpected emergency. Although the Bridge could be forgiven for the moment until the current situation was dealt with, especially given the severity of the Commodore's injuries. As Dr Paawin then spoke to Aravis, Tania was o non hand to assist as he gestured for her to take over the Lieutenant's treatment whilst he saw to Perry. Nodding in acknowledgement, Tania moved closer to the helm officer's bed and began scanning her. " Lieutenant, I need you to take it easy and relax whilst I begin treatment". First Tania administered pain relief then used the dermal regenerator, taking her time to ensure that the wounds healed properly.
Tag Jovireh Velal Ozu Saya [ Lt. jg Aravis - Hera --> Mac Sickbay] Aravis started coughing again after calling for help and was coughing too hard to respond when the Mac replied. Tears streamed down her face as the coughing ravaged her raw throat. The time between Judy's response and the transporter beam whisking them away seemed interminable, and then someone was leaning over her and asking questions. But he quickly went away, Aravis hoped to take care of the commodore, and someone took his place. She only vaguely recognized the woman in blue, but sighed in relief as the pain reliever started working almost immediately. Aravis was able to breathe a little easier as the nurse continued to treat her. The, the commodore...there was an explosion. I don't know what happened. I need to speak to Commander Eastman as soon as possible.

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - USS Mac - Sick bay]Riyo heard the nurse talking to the lieutenant, and knew he could trust her to take proper care of her while he focused his attention on the Commodore. He couldn't quite hear everything that was being said with his back turned and two curtains between them, but there was something about an explosion and needing to talk to Commander Eastman. Explosion definitely covered the injuries he was seeing on Perry... He must have been right next to the blast. Tapping his com badge, he didn't bother keeping the urgency out of his voice this time. =A= "Sickbay to Bridge. I have no idea what's going on up there, Commander, but I have an unconscious Commodore needing emergency surgery and an anxious Lieutenant who refuses to rest until she speaks to you. An extra set of hands would be helpful right about now." =A= He needed Tania's assistance with the surgery, but he wasn't about to leave the injured Lieutenant unattended until she had been completely treated and sedated to get the rest she needed.

[ Nurse Tania Logan - Sickbay, Deck 7] Tania paused in her ministrations as Lieutenant Aravis answered the Doctor's questions. Despite her now breathing a little easier thanks to the treatment, Tania could hear the concern in her voice and why she needed to speak to the Commander. A thought that was seemingly shared by Paawin as he made the call. Listening to what she could and understood that it wasn't the time to sugarcoat the situation. Aravis may of only suffered minor injuries compared to the Commodore but the Nurse agreed that she required rest, so hoped that Eastman would visit. Once help arrived, Tania knew that would likely have to assist with surgery. But until they got a response, returned to what she was doing. " You're going to need a couple of more treatments with the burns, but once you've spoken to the Commander, you'll need to rest Lieutenant".

[ Commodore Calvin Perry - Hera, Space] So far the Hera was handling like a dream and whilst he might of been rejoicing in the memories of his youth and golden days. Calvin was not the type of person that would take an unnecessary risks or to put it mildly show off. No he was very much determined in wanting the Hera and others like her to become an integral part of operations out here in the back end of nowhere. To prove to Command, that Front Ear and the Mac were taking things seriously and not to judge them on previous mistakes. With the ultimate goal in sight, Perry maneuvered the Hera towards the next checkpoint. Showing off a little to see how Mauroos reacted with their playful camaraderie. That's until disaster struck, unable to shout out to Aravis as the console to the right hand side of him exploded, showering him in plasma before he was rendered unconscious. His last thoughts before the darkness took him was of his wife and the last time that he saw her, reaching out as he slumped forwards. Being an Intelligence officer, it was possible he was privy to information that Isaiah didn't have, but if the Soteria had been a credible threat, Isaiah doubted Commodore Perry would have proceeded with this exercise. And while the evidence may appear damning, they didn't know anything for sure. Isaiah held his commentary to himself as Lt. Aravis' voice came through comms. It wasn't contact with the Hera, but her individual comm device. It didn't take long for them to get their people to Sickbay. Isaiah exhaled softly, turning his attention to Commander Eastman. She seemed to approach things with a calmer hand, not wishing to escalate things any further. However, she did want answers, and it seemed that both Quinn and Velal had been charged with that task. "Aye, Commander," Isaiah said. He turned his attention to his console, and began to review what he could, coupled with Velal's report. "I can confirm Crewman Velal's assessment. There was a weapons discharge, and the Hera took the brunt of it. I can't definitively tell you that Owl-1 fired." Isaiah's eyes rose from his console. "I'd have to pull data directly from the Hera's systems. I'm unable to do remotely right now with all of its systems down. That would shed some light on things... but having Nyberrite data would paint a much clearer picture."Shortly after he spoke, Sickbay called, suggesting that Aravis wanted to speak with Eastman. He began to wonder just how much light she could shed on things.

NPCs - Colonel Helena Vasser & Alpha Sergeant Gorsk - Bridge, NSS Soteria ] The lack of information was nothing something that Colonel Vasser was pleased with. She could hear Commander Eastman's request that they take a back seat. All she knew was that it wasn't something she was going to fight over. As of right now, there were people that needed help. That they received it regardless of whom was the important thing. "Understood, Commander," Vasser said. She then rounded to face the rest of her subordinates. "Have you been able to raise, Captain Mauroos?" The communicatrions officer stated that they hadn't been able to receive from Owl-1 at the time, but the link had been established. "Transport our pilots to the Infirmary. Use the tractor beams to bring Owl-1 into our bay. Major Chromar, report to the Bridge."Gorsk continued to review the data she had collected from her sensors. "Colonel, I think you should see this," Gorsk said, gaining her commander's attention. As Vasser reviewed the data, her brow furrowed. "Run it again. Go through that debris cubic centimeter by cubic centimeter. There's something out there to find, and I want it found first!" Gorsk nodded her affirmative. "And have the Owl-1's data forwarded to me. I want to review it personally."Helena Vasser didn't like it when things were out of her control. It was something she was working to remedy in those very moments.

NPC - Specialist Javik - Shuttlebay, NSS Soteria ] The sound of the alarm filling the room seemed to blow whatever amusement and intrigue the Reman held for Avi out of an airlock. It seemed that something far greater than the pair of them had come up. The only clue was when Avi had been informed to be ready to 'touch up' Owl-1. He said nothing as the Bolian excused herself. He watched as she disappeared from sight, in the storage area. It took only a few moments before Owl-1 could be seen, being carefully tractored into the shuttlebay. Once it was settled, Javik moved forward with the rest of the team of engineers to inspect the vessel. Javik moved along with them, moving to inspect one of the disruptor turrets. With his diagnostic device, he quickly attached it to the data port, and began to download the data that had been recorded. His eyes only skimmed the data, but overall it seemed quite informative. If only he had access to the data from the Hera. It would certainly paint a much clearer picture of what had happened. Something he was certain his superiors wanted right now.

[Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac Lt. Commander Harmon was the first to react. It didn't surprise Isaiah that he called immediately for shields and weapons. That would shed some light on things... but having Nyberrite data would paint a much clearer picture."
Shortly after he spoke, Sickbay called, suggesting that Aravis wanted to speak with Eastman. He began to wonder just how much light she could shed on things. [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Ens. Mabel Henriksen - Bridge, USS Mac]Judy sighed. This was that difficult part of command, where she was seemingly needed everywhere at once. =A= "Sickbay, acknowledged, stand by," =A= she acknowledged their request first, unsure of exactly how much of it could be satisfied. "Let's call a yellow alert. I think it's merited."She had, as it were, three puzzle pieces to fit into three holes: herself, Harmon, and Quinn, needed to examine the Hera, speak to Vasser, and meet with Aravis. Her first instinct was to meet with Aravis herself. She had, after all, been requested, and she had more experience talking to recently traumatized junior officers than did the others. However, it was just as evident that she had to be the one to speak with Colonel Vasser. Quinn, as the woman's former subordinate, might not hold his own, and Harmon was certainly not suited to speaking civilly with the prospective enemy. There was one possible constellation. "Mr. Harmon, I need you to go down to Sickbay and talk to Ms. Aravis. Tell her I'm sorry I can't come down at the moment, but promise to relay everything back to me. Be very gentle. Mr. Quinn, take Mabel and go to the shuttlebay to access the Hera's computers. Mabel, before you go, pull one Doc off the beta shift roster and send them into Sickbay now," Judy delegated. "Ms. Velal, you haven't dealt with Vasser before, so I'd like you to listen in and give me your judgement afterwards," she added, to that member of the bridge crew. "Now, let's get back on the line with the Colonel."Once the commlink was reestablished, Judy spoke with the same, usual calmness. =A= "Colonel, is now a good time to talk about... this?" =A= Mabel, as she began to walk towards the turbolift, checked her PADD for the medical roster, and picked a victim. =A= "Bridge to Ensign Neme, please report for duty in Sickbay right away," =A= she ordered.

[LCDR Matthew Harmon - Bridge]Unfortunately, despite affirming she was none to pleased about the Alliance, the Commander immediately responded in her usual dovish fashion. While it was possible the Alliance was innocent, they should still not be running into their arms for help immediately. In fact, the behaviour of Vasser and the Soteria could be explained by the possibility they orchestrated a complex trap so that they could swoop in and assist in order to get back into the Commander's good graces. Worse, the Commander ordered him to Sickbay, conveniently removing him from the Bridge when Vasser contacted. Of course she was tactful and polite as always, making it seem like he was doing an important task in her stead, but he knew what she was really after. To add insult to injury, she was eager for Crewman Velal's assessment. Harmon did not acknowledge the Commander, only stood from his chair and headed for the Turbolift, stopping to make one final suggestion. "Quinn, try using a tachyon scan. If it wasn't us, and it wasn't the Soteria, that leaves only three or so possibilities I can think of, the most likely being a cloaked ship," he said. A cloaked ship that could also fire its weapons was a very serious threat with serious ramifications. Harmon also knew full well that any tachyon scans would be most likely to catch a cloaked ship if a detection grid was set up, and in this case the Soteria was the only option for that. "If you must, use the Soteria as well," it was risky using them and he was entirely uncomfortable with the idea. With that suggestion made, he entered the turbolift.
No sooner had the doors closed did he receive a communication from Avi. He pulled the emergency stop on the Turbolift so no one would be able to overhear. This was really not the time for trouble with her. =/\= I'm here. What's happening? =/\=Once Avi was dealt with, he resumed the turbolift and headed to Sickbay walking straight to Lieutenant Aravis. "Lieutenant, the Commander cannot come, she is needed on the Bridge so she has sent me in her place," hopefully she wouldn't resist talking to him. "What happened?"

[ Ensign Neme, Medical (bio) | Sick Bay ][...]Mabel, as she began to walk towards the turbolift, checked her PADD for the medical roster, and picked a victim. =A= "Bridge to Ensign Neme, please report for duty in Sickbay right away," =A= she ordered. Ensign Neme, a short Vulcan with thick black hair, arrived to sickbay at a jog. They along with other off-duty crew had been watching the exercises intently with what little access they had. At the sudden damage, they'd all dutifully scattered to prepare for what may occur. For Neme, that was keeping flesh and blood intact. "Ensign Neme reporting," they declared. Nurse Logan was tending to the pilot Aravis who looked frantic. But it was Lieutenant Riyo's patient who immediately commanded Neme's attentions. Neme came to stand opposite Commodore Perry's bed from Riyo, their medical tricorder already out. Neme was momentarily quieted by the unmoving form of the Commodore laying unconscious in the biobed, a marked contrast to his usual steadiness. They didn't let the moment last longer than a breath before they lifted their chin and addressed Liutenant Riyo. "He needs surgery. What are your orders?" [Lt. Paawin Riyo - USS Mac - Sick bayHearing a different voice on the other side of the curtain, Paawin was about to get sharp when he heard the man saying he had been sent by Commander Eastman. That was understandable... And he'd allow it. So for the moment he resumed prepping his own patient, successfully removing the clothing that covered the burns and disinfecting the incision sites, when he heard yet another voice directly behind him - informing him that his patient needed surgery. "Thank you for your keen observation!" he snapped, glaring over his shoulder to find the Vulcan Ensign awaiting orders. Ah... The help he requested. With a sigh and apologetic nod, he straightened and turned to face Neme directly. "You're in charge of Sickbay, Ensign. Take over the Lieutenant's treatment, and don't let anyone enter this room unless they're a patient, Commander Eastman, or sent directly by her for a specific purpose. Call for more help or activate the EMH if you can't handle something on your own." Normally he'd be a lot more gentle with assigning tasks that might be beyond an officer's realm of experience, but right now his focus needed to be on saving the Commodore's life. "Tania, grab some saline and start a central line. We need to bring his temperature down before the damage gets any worse. Then get to work treating his burns as best you can. I need to drain the subdurel hematoma to relieve pressure on his brain before I open him up." It had been a rather long time since he had treated injuries this severe... Paawin could only hope what knowledge and experience he had would work. Without waiting for a response from either, he moved to the Commodore's head. "Computer, dim main lights and increase the headlamp of biobed one to 200 lumens." He needed to focus, entirely, and the best way for him to do that was to go back to his roots. The room around the curtain darkened, the light above his patient brightened, and for a moment he was 18 again - covered in dirt and the blood of his people, fighting just as hard to save them, as they had fought to free him. Pulling the tray of instruments closer, he began.

She didn't know Harmon at all, just that he was in intelligence. Co-Commander, she said painfully and hoarsely. There was no warning on the Hera. A panel just exploded right beside the Commodore. There was nothing on the sensors and no indication of a problem with the sensors. They just didn't register anything. The pilot stopped talking and coughed, wincing as her raw throat throbbed painfully, even through the pain reliever. There was nothing, she repeated quietly.

[ Nurse Tania Logan - Sickbay, Deck 7] With the arrival of Commander Harmon instead of the XO and Dr Neme following the response that they had gotten from the Bridge. Tania moved aside as Dr Paawin acknowledged Neme and his obvious observation before the doctor in charge issued orders. " Dr Neme, the patient has already had some burns treatment" she said passing on what he needed to know. Then leaving Harmon to talk to Aravis and Neme to deal with the rest of her treatment. Tania moved to assist Dr Paawin with the Commodore's surgery. " Yes Doctor" she replied, acknowledging what he wanted her to do as she grabbed the saline and started a central line. Finally she picked up a new dermal regenerator and began working on his burns as the lights dimmed around them in accordance with Paawin's instructions.

"If it is a cloaked ship, then it is some sort of new cloaking technology that doesn't leave a trace of tachyon emissions." Quinn gave it a little more thought. Most races with cloaking technology had to de-cloak in order to fire. Although there was technology to fire while cloaked. And then that begged the question of whom would have something to gain. The Klingons? They were allies of both the Federation and the Nyberrite Alliance. In fact, the Klingon Empire had a longer standing relation with Nyber than the with the Federation. It was then that Commander Eastman began to issue orders. As Quinn was given the assignment of retrieving the data from the Hera along with Mabel, he simply nodded form his station. "Aye, Commander," he said. Quinn began to move towards the turbolift, allowing Mabel to step inside first. After she finished her comm, calling Doctor Neme to report to Sickbay, Isaiah called out their destination. "Deck 8. Main Shuttlebay." As the lift moved through the tube, Isaiah stood there, rocking slightly on the balls of his feet. "Any thoughts on what we'll find?"He waited to hear her answer, just as the doors parted, emptying them onto Deck 8. After making his way into the shuttlebay, his eyes finally settled upon the wreckage. There mere sight of it made him wonder how they had survived. He moved towards one of the work cabinets and retrieved a tricorder. "I guess we should get started."

Eastman was being cautious, but likely had Harmon whispering in her ears. Not that the intelligence officer would have to try very hard. From what Vasser could gather, Eastman already held a rather low opinion of her. "No. That won't be necessary." Gorsk nodded stoically, feeling no need to question the colonel's orders. It was then that Vasser heard Eastman's voice asking if it were a good time to talk about this. Somehow, the final word seemed to carry an accusatory tone, as if Eastman was ready to hang the responsibility for all of this around her head. "First, how are your people?" Vasser asked. "How is Calv-.. Commodore Perry?" [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Bridge, USS Mac]Judy suspected that the Colonel's question was not - at least, not entirely - one of charitable concern. The Commodore's condition was, after all, coextensive with the identity of the acting CO. "The Commodore is being tended to in Sickbay. I don't exactly know what his condition is," she disclosed matter-of-factly. "I hope your flight crew is well."The light impact the Owl-1 had suffered seemed to indicate its occupants would be relatively all right, so this was a question of polite concern. "Let's not beat around the bush here. A lot of people would be inclined to pin this on you and go home, but I think we'll all be better off if we work together to find out what actually happened. We each have some pieces of the puzzle."Judy was speaking not from a political mentality, but from an engineer's mindset. If the Nyberrites were indeed innocent, or at least Vasser was, then her incentive was to cooperate and exonerate herself. If, on the other hand, this was an act of foul play, then the incentives went in the opposite direction. The sincerity and readiness with which Vasser cooperated (or didn't) on this matter would be telling. In that department, she hoped Ms. Velal could lend some judgement.

They're very shady," she speculated. The sight of the Hera in the shuttlebay was certainly a sorry one. Whatever had happened, this little ship wasn't going to fly anywhere, anytime soon. She took up an engineer's toolkit and approached closer. "We should try to pull the computers out and then connect them to the ship's EPS system. I wouldn't trust the Hera's power grid," she suggested.
