[ MCPO Ozu Saya - Chief Engineer’s Office - 1430] Approx. 1 month after S1E10~Daily Engineering Log~ There has been an increase in the last several days of reports of minor equipment failures and power fluctuations. Thus far, I don’t believe it is a serious enough problem to bring to Captain Eastman; however, it is irksome that we cannot seem to trace the origins of the issues. It is possible that it is simply an old station making its aches and pains known, but some of the failures have been in newer relays that were replaced since my coming here.
I will continue to monitor the situation and bring it to the captain’s attention if the unexplained failures persist.
~End Log~ Saya sat back against her chair back and sighed. She took a sip of the special blend of tea Kyo had created for her back before they’d even been a couple, when he was hopeful and she was clueless. It had a light flavor of spearmint and lemongrass, relaxing and uplifting at once. As chief engineer, Saya hated when a vessel (or station) under her charge did unexpected things, and Front Ear did seem to have more than its fair share. With all of the disasters they’d experienced, it had been impossible to really learn the station’s normal foibles. =/\= Chief, I’ve got a report here from Hydroponics. Some of the sprinklers won’t shut off. It’s going to flood the park if we don’t get it taken care of. =/\= Saya blew out a breath and pulled a PADD toward her. =/\= Assign repair team… Theta, and George? I’m going to start rearranging the schedules. I think we’re going to need more people on duty. =/\= =/\= Oh, boy. Just what the new captain’s going to want to see - engineering on double shifts. =/\= =/\= I’ll try not to make it doubles, =/\= Saya replied wryly as she pulled up the roster and began moving engineers around between different lists.

[T’Laara - Park]
As a botanist, T’Laara’s primary purpose here on the station was conducting research on Kerelia. However, her duties also included helping to maintain the park and hydroponics. Which was, incidentally, what led to her standing directly under the sprinkler when it went off. “Ugh!”
She quickly ducked under the cover of a large moba tree and made the report to Engineering. Unfortunately, it was too late to avoid becoming completely drenched, wet hair and clothes plastered to her skin. “At least it is unlikely there will be another fire today,” she muttered flatly, trying to shake off some of the cold water and staring out at what had become a torrential downpour.
Just another day on the frontier.

[Leanna's Quarters - Civilian Decks]
With a half dressed toddler running around whilst trying to wrestle Aven so she could change him. Leanna knew that she had to persevere if she was going to get them to daycare on time before heading to the bar. For the moment she let Ari do what she wanted rather than lose her voice trying to reason with her, especially since she was winning the fight with her now 9 month old.
Aven was looking more like her every day but she could still see his Father in him and perhaps she would have the strength to talk about him when he was older. But she wasn't going to let that thought ruin her day as she had so much happiness in her life right now. Aside from her children and business, the main reason for it was her boyfriend of almost 10 weeks Riyo. The handsome Bajoran doctor had given her so much and she loved him dearly. Not only because of how he made her feel but for many things including the bond he was developing with her kids.
Her smile grew at the thought of him before finally achieving the impossible with Aven and then his wayward sister. Then she managed to settle them with a drink whilst she got everything else ready including herself.

Just another day on the frontier. open tags [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Max Williams - Park]Being the Captain was distinctly not all sunshine and rainbows. In fact, it was mostly paperwork, just like the First Officer position. The main change was the greater involvement in strategic decisions, and the occasional calls from a senior minister on some nearby world. All told, Judy could use a day off, so she was going to enjoy this day. Clad in civilian attire, Judy and Max entered the park, walking their two corgis (the recent litter of puppies had all been given away to loving owners[fn] Leanna Mazal among them[/fn]), when the sprinkler went off. Tunnel[fn]corgi, female[/fn] ducked, sticking her head between her paws, while Bridge[fn]corgi, male[/fn] tried to yank Max towards the disaster zone. "No, no," the chef barked at the dog, while forcefully tugging the leash. The corgi, although he was able to overpower a human child, couldn't knock down an adult, so he returned to his owner's side. Judy gently tugged Tunnel along, avoiding the splash zone to approach the uniformed Vulcan who seemed to have gotten the worst of it. Max, with an all-too-eager Bridge. "Are you all right?" the Captain asked, with the same gentle concern that characterized her career. Even without the iconic bifocals, she was easily recognizable.

|Main Gym || lt. cmdr. Sven Aune| Spotter |Shore leave was a disaster, and the large man was still working through the traumatic events of that wretched city. And though they were able to bring to light the blatant corruption and the blood sport enjoyed by the ultra elite, he was left battered and bruised. A month of healing helped with the physical, but the emotional and psychological... That was another story. Sherry X. had shown up, and the man started to dig up info on her, but it was, scarce at best. She had come into a large sum of money via the death of her late husband. Much controversy surrounded it. Prosecution claimed that she murdered him. But the charges were spurious at best as it was in the clients interest to dispute the living will. Other than that, little to nothing on her. He had gone back to lifting, and he was pushing himself hard. Another competition that he wanted to compete in, and he was looking to pack on a bit more mass, and work on symmetry. It was chest day, and he had just completed some warm up lifts and was now on maxing. 425 pounds was set upon the bar. He laid back upon the bench centered his hands shoulder width apart and with a exhale he unwracked the weight. Slowly he brought the bar, bending slightly under the weight, to his chest, then with powerful force he pushed the weight up against gravity. His spotter had his fingers on the bar. Sven brought the weight down for rep number 2 and repeated the movement. Onto three. The weight was great and Sven's arms were shaking as he pushed it back against gravity. "You got it. 2 more big guy!" his spotter encouraged. Then it happened. The gravity plating suddenly lapsed. The 1.0 g environment decreased to 0.8. The sudden decrease in weight cased Sven's arms to push up faster. He wasn't prepared. The weight shot up and he lost control. The bar faltered back, and there was an ominous snap that emanated from his shoulders. The joints dislocated. Sven's partner lost his footing because of the sudden decrease in gravity and he wasn't ready to help. He heard the snap and tried to reach the bar. But it was too late. It was behind Sven's head and dropping. Sven over compensated for the faulter and brought the back back over his chest, tearing the tendons in his shoulder. Then the gravity came back to 1.0. Weakened and unable to control it the bar came crashing down slamming into his upper chest, breaking each clavicle, several ribs, the sternum, and puncturing a lung. He cried out in pain. "Arrrgh! Fffffff!"His partner regained his footing and dashed to the side where he quickly unclasped the weight and pushed the plates off. A few hit his foot breaking his toes, but he ignored the pain. Once one side was free of the weight, the bar tipped up and off of Sven and hit the floor with a thud. "Oh shit!" his partner looked wildly around, then ran to a communicator imbedded in a panel. "Medical emergency, Deck 31, gymnasium!"Tag Jovireh Velal

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Lea's Quarters]Riyo was still trying to adapt to the hectic mornings at Lea's place, and did his best to help her with the kids while getting ready himself. But as Ari was still over-excited every time he was around, it was still a bit difficult to get her to focus on getting ready. He had just attached the communicator to his uniform and turned to tell her one more time to put her other shoe on when the frantic call of a medical emergency came through. Instantly flooded with adrenaline, he tapped his badge, already changing stride to grab the med kit off the cabinet (where he always left it out of Ari's reach). =A="On my way!"=A= Striding past Lea as she settled Aven at the table, he gave her a quick kiss, knowing there was no explanation needed for his swift departure. In a matter of seconds he was hurrying to the nearest turbolift. [Deck 31 - Main Gym] As he entered the gym, Riyo didn't need to ask where the emergency was. Everyone in the room was gathered at the weight station. "Out of the way!" He ordered sharply as he approached, and the crowd obediently parted to reveal the devastating scene. Judging by the Security Chief's position on the bench, the amount of weights on the floor around him, and the angle of the man's shoulders... It was obvious there had been an accident while lifting. "What happened?" He asked the man standing closest to Sven, assuming he had been the spotter. Kneeling beside the bench, he set the med kit down and took his tricordor off his belt to begin assessing the damage. Visual assessment already told him a trip to Sickbay was necessary, but the amount of internal damage would tell him if he needed to get a team with a gourney, or make use of the station's emergency transport system.

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Chief Engineer's Office, Front Ear Station ] If it wasn't obvious before, it was certainly obvious now that Ozu's Vulcan heritage had consumed any redeeming Bajoran qualities she may have had. The Andorian marched along the Engineering deck with iron focus. Several engineers spoke up, inquiring if they could help, but Kova ignored them all. There may have been a few wondering if they should call security, but the fact that this Andorian worked with security likely left them with a bit of a conundrum. Kova didn't wait for the customary permission to enter. She simply forged ahead, tossing the item she had been carrying onto the desk of the chief engineer. It was the sonic showerhead from Kova's quarters. She then rested her palms flatly onto Saya's desk as she stared at the woman. "If you have an issue with me Vulcan, be woman enough to confront me directly," Kova declared. "But these games will end.""It starts with a few surges shorting out my circuit boards," Kova began. "But then... this!" Kova gestured at the showerhead. "It was so loud that it nearly deafened me!" Kova spared her the details of how she managed to bludgeon the showerhead into silence and off its mount completely. But it all stunk of the sort of annoyances that Vulcans were capable of. Their pettiness was well-documented throughout history. Of course, with this one being a favorite of the new captain, Eastman, Kova didn't expect much to come from an official complaint. Thus, her taking her grievance to the source.

I apologize for the inconvenience; however I am not causing these malfunctions myself and they certainly are not targeting you. There has been an upsurge in malfunctions all over the station. Her tone was calm and perhaps a bit stiff. Saya knew that it wouldn't help her case much with the Andorian's prejudice against Vulcans, but it was her default in confrontation and too ingrained to overcome under pressure.

Tag Kova Sh'qaleq [Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Main Gym]Riyo listened to the description of events while he ran the scans. Surgery was definitely necessary, but thankfully the broken bones had not punctured any organs. Even so, moving him was not an option. "Notify Engineering of the malfunctions - " His sentence cut off as everything shifted, and he immediately understood how the accident had happened. "I strongly suggest everyone stay away from the weights until the problem gets fixed!" He spoke loud enough for the gathered crowd to hear. Trusting the spotter to do as he was told, he focused on getting his patient to safety. "Computer - Emergency transport, two to Sickbay!" Putting his hand lightly on Sven's stomach, he waited for the familiar blue lights that dissolved the room around them, and rematerialized them... In a corridor. Swearing loudly, he looked around, grateful to see that Sickbay was just a few meters down. Glancing down at the injured mountain, he decided not to risk the transporter again. Thankfully they were a lot closer now. Tapping his com badge, he knew this would be something he'd need to explain to the medical staff - after the patient had been treated. =A="Dr. Paawin to Sickbay. I need a team and a gourney - Deck 10 corridor."=A= Whatever was going on with the station's systems, he hoped they got it fixed soon. The team arrived in a matter of moments, and Riyo instructed them on transferring Sven to the gourney without aggravating his injuries more. Finally they had him safely on a biobed, and he gave the man a hefty dose of pain relievers. "Alright Commander, you need surgery to repair the damage to your shoulders. The good news is, your muscle mass prevented the bones in your chest from puncturing your heart or lungs, so I expect you'll make a full recovery."

It was the most sanctimonious gesture the entire race had. It was the grandest nonverbal insult. Humans tended to raise their middle finger to deliver such a message. Klingons laughed at you. Ferengi... existed hissed. But Vulcans... it was as if they decided to not make an effort at insulting you with that eyebrow. "Uncomfortable?!" Kova repeated. She was just about to explain in explicit detail just how uncomfortable it had been when a bonafide waste of green-blooded space made his presence known. Why he had decided to personally thank Ozu for preferential treatment in person was beyond her. Though, that wasn't enough. He went on to deal his usual juvenile insults, though not only at Kova, but at her entire race. Before Kova knew it, she had ceased a handful of his uniform, and taken a step to close the distance between herself and the Vulcan. This was likely what he wanted. Some sort of excuse to force her into a cell, or to have her lose her position in the Security office. To wipe that smug look from his face, it would have been well worth it. Though, instead of giving him any further ammunition, she simply glared into his eyes. "Don't test me, phuuzhca[fn]anal orifice[/fn]!" Kova continued to glare at him. "Just ask any Klingon what they think about today." It was the only warning he was going to get. She began to release her hold of his uniform, disgusted with even touching him at all.

|Engineer's office || Sorren Mar'kiv |The swawthy Vulcan security officer walked into the office. He strode right up next to the irate Andorian, but ignored her for the time being. "Chief," he started with, "I want to thank you for expediting the repairs I needed done. It is good to know that staff here knows how to prioritize work orders."
he looked over at Kova, then the broken shower head then back to Kova. His face changed into the typical Vulcan face of condensention seasoned heavily with Sorren's own patented blend of sneer. "Awe, That, is a sonic shower head. Not a punching bag, Kova. But I wouldn't expect an Andorian to know that. I hear that your species still clean themselves via licking themselves. Like the common house cat. Filthy."
Tag {Spoiler}{Quoted Posts} [ MCPO Ozu Saya - Chief Engineer's Office] Saya jerked back, bringing her PADD with her, as what appeared to be the head from a sonic shower slammed down on her desk. Her gaze lifted to meet that of the infuriated Andorian leaning on the desk. She blinked a couple of times, processing what Kova was suggesting, then lifted one eyebrow sardonically. I imagine that was quite uncomfortable, she replied mildly. I wouldn't care for it myself.
|Engineer's office || Sorren Mar'kiv |The swawthy Vulcan security officer walked into the office. Tag: Ozu Saya , Sven Aune (Sorren) [ MCPO Ozu Saya - Chief Engineer's Office] Oh. Prophets. She was going to murder him. She'd have to make it look like an accident. Saya began plotting an elaborate 'accident' for the Vulcan security officer as she dropped her face into her hands so that she didn't immediately voice her thoughts aloud. Saya rarely dealt with any of the full-Vulcan members of the crew, and her old insecurities always cropped up when she did. She couldn't respond with emotion, or they'd look down on her. She barely heard Kova's words as the Andorian threatened Sorren. For once, she and Kova seemed to be having similar thoughts. When Saya raised her head, she was able to say steadily, Lt. Sorren, I don't know what gave you the idea that your repairs were prioritized, but I can assure you that is not the case. All maintenance has been handled as the reports come in. Her combadge chirped, preventing further comment. =/\= Chief, we've got a major one. Gravity plating is going in and out in one of the gyms. Caused serious injuries to a couple of crew members, including our chief of security. =/\= Saya mentally uttered an expletive, then replied, =/\= Start calling in Delta shift. Tell them they're working Beta and Delta. In fact, put out a notification to all engineers. Alpha and Gamma, Beta and Delta, double them up. She hesitated for a moment. I'll go speak to Judy after I deal with a situation here. =/\= =/\= Need a hand? =/\= George asked ominously. =/\= No, I don't think so. Thanks, =/\= Saya said, eyeing the pair on the other side of her desk. She raised her eyebrow at Kova and Sorren. Do I need to ask my assistant to escort you both out of here?

[Capt. Clad in civilian attire, Judy and Max entered the park, walking their two corgis (the recent litter of puppies had all been given away to loving owners), when the sprinkler went off. Tunnel ducked, sticking her head between her paws, while Bridge tried to yank Max towards the disaster zone. [ T’Laara - Park] T’Laara squeezed some water out of her hair before tucking a loose strand behind one pointed ear. Looking up, she saw the couple who had been on the other side of the park approaching her. “I am… unharmed,” she replied, feeling a little bit foolish as she recognized the older woman as the Starfleet captain in charge of the station. “Thank you.”
Behind her, the park continued to resemble the outdoors in a genuine heavy rainstorm. Given that she was speaking to the captain, she felt it appropriate to add, "I don't know why the environmental controls are malfunctioning, but I have notified Engineering."Judith Eastman

[ Avi Moz, Mott Moz | Avi's workshop off the promenade ]
Avi Moz stared with narrowed eyes at the little blue Bolian kid having a sandwich at her work bench, chewing with his mouth open, swinging his legs on the stool. He'd just … wandered in from the promenade with one bag, called her 'mom', and asked for a snack. And Avi Moz had just … let him. She'd managed a dry cursory interrogation.
"Who are you?"
"Mott Moz."
"Who am I?"
"My mom."
"Where'd you come from?"
"Ayo."
"How'd you get here?"
"Spaceship."
"How'd you find me?"
"Computers and nets."
Then Avi had grunted, made him a sandwich, and now she was watching him chew and trying to figure out a way this could feasibly be a misunderstanding. But then the boy had his own questions.
"Are you an engineer?"
"Mechanic."
"Is this your workshop?"
"Yes."
"Are you going to work in it?"
"Not right now."
"How come?"
"Exhaust ventilation is broken."
"How come?"
"Don't know."
"Why don't you fix it?"
"It's a station system."
"Are you hungry?
"No."

"Calling engineering was the right move. They should be sending a crew soon enough," she voiced her approval. However, there remained the matter of the young Vulcan herself, who was standing there sopping wet. "Now, there's a replicator by the turbolifts, so we can get you a towel, and there's a control panel we can use to switch the sprinkler off."Judy began to walk towards the lift, carefully avoiding the splash zone, motioning for Max and the Vulcan to follow her. The dogs came along dutifully, following their masters and the leashes. "What's your name, young lady?" Max asked, politely. He very much shared his wife's nurturing streak.
