[ LT Joshua Niles - Serenity Colony, Main Street ]Surrendering was never an action to be taken lightly. Niles knew it. Any officer in Starfleet knew it. Especially those who'd chosen to undertake the training to eventually earn a center chair of their own. Thought, he did not know what non-commissioned Starfleet personnel had been taught on the matter; probably to follow to lead of any officer who was present. Though, it was clear the decision rankled Petty Officer Velal, and Chief Som seemed just on the edge of doing something that may be ill-advised. However, no formal surrenders had been demanded, even when weapons fire shrieked and flashed to drop not only the Sheriff, but also every colonist in sight. Only that they prepare to be taken captive. Commander Quinn, as the senior officer present, was the one who'd be making the call, and while he didn't seem to like it much, he had made it. Slowly, Niles reached for his own phaser at his right hip. He was certainly right-handed, but he'd discovered that, even before his injury at the Academy, he had favoured what was once known as the 'cavalry draw'. And after that shuttle accident, between his left arm not always behaving the way he meant it to as he was getting accustomed to the prosthetic and the pain, that had been the style he had perfected. After all, doctrine calling for a cross-draw was well and good, but one must know when to depart from said doctrine at times. And, slowly and smoothly, he extracted the weapon from its holster and dropped it, before bringing his hand to the back of his head even as their Sivaoan observer was being very forcibly restrained, and a weapon flashed again to stun her before she could be cuffed. Now, being bound and taken was hardly a promising tactical situation, but Mac would be back, eventually. And when the Away Team would not respond, while Commander Baker was not exactly what he would consider an aggressive commander, she still had officers on board who were. And that would mean those raiders, pirates or whoever they were would find themselves up to their eyeballs in heavily armed Security personnel, with starship support. So whether Commander Quinn would intend for a cunning plan to turn the tables or they would wait, those Orions had just made a terrible mistake they would live to regret.

[ Mara Rexan - Main Street, Serenity] Mara hated herself for not admitting the truth sooner as Quinn looked at her with disappointment in both his voice and face, before everything went to hell. Yes they were used to these raids and being forced to comply with Jaggah and whoever was pulling his strings. However this wasn't normal even for them as they stunned her friends and threatened the Fleeters. Wishing they had stunned her but knew that they had kept her conscious for a reason and now she had failed everyone. Even as Quinn tried to reason with them or at least put get his message across as his team complied. Her heart wrenched at seeing how the handled Left Ear and could only manage a few words. " This wasn't supposed to happen, they were supposed to just take the supplies in exchange for my people's freedom".The weight of everything was taking its toll as she was restrained then slapped hard in order to stop her talking.

[USS Mac - Radira System]
Dropping out of high warp at the edge of the Radira system, Thea didn't know what to expect as she ordered the helm to continue on impulse. As they neared the last known position of the stricken Freighter, something didn't sit right with the XO. Maybe it was the lack of response after they had tried repeated hails to try and get an update. Memories of the Jupiter Star jumped to the forefront of her mind but unless the Talorians were back in the organ harvesting business she would of known.
As if to answer her question, the ship suddenly shook violently and without warning. " What.... shields up, get weapons ready then find out who just fired on us" Thea ordered as she righted herself in the centre seat and didn't want to think about the bruise that was forming on her stomach.
" Aye Commander" Laurel replied as she complied with the order, only for the Mac to receive another hard blow. This time Thea was thrown from the centre chair, cursing loudly as she attempted to get up.
" Commander, sensors indicate that it was the Avalon, Engineering reports that they took out our warp drive and caused damage to our communications array".
Thea felt foolish that she had unknowingly led the ship into a trap leaving them and the away team vulnerable to whoever was behind all of this. " This was deliberate, tell Engineering to start repairs once we've dealt with the Avalon".
However before they could do anything, the Avalon warped away leaving the Mac stranded for now and unable to contact the team on the colony.

[NPC - Jaggah and others - Main Street, Serenity]
Jaggah guffawed. It was just like Starfleet to make a futile attempt at resistance, and the weird cat-like one (who was now unceremoniously carried onboard) was a fine exemplar. So was the loudmouthed one with the pips to indicate he was in charge.
"No one asked you, smart-ass," he barked, as he whacked the man (Quinn) with his pistol.
"Next time, I'll use the rifle. That'll leave a mark," he threatened.
Others of Jaggah's crew moved to bind the rest of the away team, jostling them about as they did. All were cuffed with their hands behind their backs, then shoved towards the transport, except for one...
"Tie her up," Jaggah ordered, motioning at Mara. Two of his goons, rather violently, set her on the hard street, on her stomach, and hog-tied her, before carrying her onto the transport.
"Take this as a warning, Starfleet," Jaggah threatened, with the message clear: anyone who didn't get on the transport would end up hog-tied as well.

[ CPO Kaya Som | Main St ]
Quinn signaled them all to go along and Kaya laced her fingers behind her head.
Then some of the attackers moved forward into the scant crowd, stepping over the unconscious and one-by-one cuffing Starfleet's hands behind their back.
"No running. Put it out of your head," came the unexpectedly quiet voice of the Orion who'd come up behind her and firmly pulled her hands down behind her one by one. "Unless you'd like a phaser nap."
Kaya shook her head. Restraints clicked into place and a strong hand on her back pushed her forward to join the others. It was then that Kaya saw Left Ear get blasted and carried off. The leader hit Quinn. Mara Rexan was separated. Each moment brought new evidence that they could trust the attackers to follow through on their word.
The timing of the Mac being called away and the attackers arriving could not be coincidence. This was coordinated, this was planned.
"This is a ransom situation, right," she whispered to the person in front of her in line. "We're Starfleet. The Mac will miss us, the Federation will intervene. All we have to do is wait, right?"
But they were being loaded aboard a transport. No way to know where they'd be taken.

[PO3 Jovireh Velal - Serenity Colony - Main St.]Everything was happening so quickly, but as she knelt with her hands in the air and her eyes on the ground, the scene around her seemed to unfold in slow motion. Quinn taunting the Orion leader, getting struck. Left Ear lashing out, getting shot. Mara getting separated and hog tied. Her heart was racing, her muscles stiff with the struggle of not reacting. It went against everything within her to not defend her team, but she knew well enough that any move other than obedience would get someone hurt, possibly killed. The others had just proven that. Jovireh didn't know what was taking them so long to get around to restraining her, but suddenly she felt a cold hand grab her wrist from behind her. Instinctively she moved to wrench her arm free, only to have it jerked sharply down, back, and then up, twisting her shoulder to the point struggling would only result in her dislocating the joint herself. Her other arm was manipulated into the same position, and she felt the cold restraints secure her wrists. She knew the tactic well, and had used it a few times herself, but only ever when restraining someone that had a physical advantage over her. Jovireh had a feeling whoever restrained her now, did so in that manner just because they could. As the person behind her tugged sharply on the restraints with a grumbled order to get up, Jov clenched her jaw against the ache in her shoulders as she rose to her feet, not saying a word or showing any outward sign of the physical discomfort as she fell in line with the rest of the away team walking onto the transport. This was definitely not a good sign. Hearing a soft voice behind her that obviously wasn't from the one who restrained her, Jov gave a slight shake of her head in response. "I wouldn't count on it," she replied quietly. If they remained hostages on the colony, Jov would agree that it was only a matter of time before they were rescued. But if they were being taken somewhere... There was no telling if the Mac would even be able to locate them. Essentially... The moment the doors of the transport sealed... They would be on their own.

[Unknown Location - Serenity]
The heart of the gang's dastardly operations was still very much a hive of activity as the reports and updates from each key component continued to filter through. Despite how successful it had been especially double crossing the remaining colonists and disabling a Federation starship. This wasn't the time to celebrate, not that any of them dared to do such a thing until they got the go ahead from their Boss.
As it was there was still a slight atmosphere as the hooded figure descended the few steps that would bring them to the main bank of consoles. The blood splatter on the bottom of the black robe obvious and knew better than to pass comment lest they became the next victim. Silence swept through the room quickly like fire as they all waited for the figure to speak or pass judgment.
" We will celebrate once this colony and Thea Baker are completely crushed. Inform me when the Mac finally makes it back here but until then, have Rexan and the away team brought to Room 2 and the others can join their friends in the prison".
There were a couple of just heard acknowledgments made before they surveyed those still working, with a look of amusement mixed with terror before they returned to where they came from. Now that they had gone, the usual volume and chatter resumed, if not with some apprehension as everyone knew what happened in room 5.

Shavan felt cold as the men surrounded them. He hated this. He hated giving up an ounce of control. But he would not suffer the indignity, or reduced chances of escaping, that would come with being stunned and carried onto the transport.
So he held his tongue and made no move to fight. He gritted his teeth as he sensed movement behind him, and his arms were roughly pulled behind his back and cuffed.
The man half shoved, half dragged him forward, and he stumbled into line with the others.

[ LT Joshua Niles - Serenity Colony, Main Street -> Undisclosed location]While it rankled to yield without a fight, Niles forced himself to breathe slowly and calmly, and it was only through a great deal of willpower that he managed to only grunt in pain when his arms were wrenched behind his back. Oh, the cuffs per se did not hurt too much, but the permanent connection between his prosthetic and the flesh and bone did not much care for the rough handling and a spear of agony shot right up to his shoulder and into his neck. Oh, that would be unpleasant all right... However, he noticed that none of them were gagged, or blindfolded, or had their ears covered. Sensory deprivation and prevention of communication was something that was common when hostages were being taken, and he took it for the blessing it was. After all, he, and his crewmates, were Starfleet. And even without phasers, without tricorders or even communicators, they were never truly unarmed so long as they were able to think. Or so he had been taught. And Commander Quinn, well, he did put himself in a position to get further roughed up, but Niles could understand why he was doing so. He was trying to get information. Now, that was hardly the wisest way to do so, and not a whole lot had been provided. However, what the colony leader said, that was something that could be used later; those raiders had been there for some time, their presence and that apparent extortion scheme getting confirmed right then and there. Though, as they were ushered onto their ship, the Lieutenant made a point to try and capture everything he could as quickly as he could. The door seals, the cubage, what the engines looked like, what weapons ports she carried. Information would be even more valuable an asset that even a crate of phaser rifles at this point in time. However, as they travelled, he heard Chief Som asking her question, and her hopes depressed by Petty Officer Velal. Now, that was something he would have to discuss with her when they would be out of this mess; lying about the gravity of a situation was never a good thing, but neither was crushing any sort of hopes they might have. He had to believe Mac was on her way back, and that once they would see the Away Team was not responding, the surface would be scanned to a point that surface radiation measurements would go up, and a platoon of Security would descend on their location. But, they had to hold up that long, or make their own luck in the meantime. From where he'd been seated, Niles was close to the Lieutenant-Commander, and he surreptitiously reached for him with his foot and gave him a light tap, just to get his attention. "Well Sir, this certainly wasn't part of the mission briefing," he said. However, he knew better than to assign blame; hell, if he went that route he would have to start second-guessing everything he had done himself, such as why he didn't scan every square inch of that planet looking for a threat no one had any reason to believe was there in the first place. Though, as she spoke, Niles's eyes were not still. He kept them moving between his superior, and points of interest he'd noticed so far.

{Quoted Posts} [Lt Shavan Th’zhaar - Main Street, Serenity] Shavan tilted his antennae forward as he felt a sudden foreboding and sensed something moving in that direction. That was all the warning he got, before a fraction of a second later the raiders ship crashed into the street ready to fire. He didn’t think, just reacted on instinct and ducked for cover behind a low wall, drawing his phaser. Within seconds, they were surrounded. Shavan froze, a cold, sinking feeling in his gut. He barely registered the exchange between the security officers, the stunned colonists or the click of the phaser’s power dying. He’d seen this enough times, albeit from the other side, to know what to do without thinking. Just stay quiet and let them have what they wanted. Which was clearly more than just the supplies, but that fact didn't change the immediate situation. As much as he would have loved to vaporize the man in charge, that wasn’t happening. Resistance right now would only make things worse for the colonists. Slowly, he lowered the weapon. [ Left Ear to-Ennien - Serenity] Left Ear flinched at the whine of each phaser blast that struck the colonists. She huddled behind her pile of whatever and shuddered, her fur puffing out until she'd nearly doubled in size. One of the goons noticed the felinoid hiding and stalked over with a nasty grin. The bulky Orion towered above her and ran his tongue over sharpened, yellowing teeth. Here kitty, kitty. Come along nicely, he said, slapping a set of manacles into his hand. The Sivaoan's ears flattened to her head as an eerie growl rumbled from deep in her throat. The Orion glared and reached for her, growling right back, None of that.Left Ear had never done much fighting to speak of - some tussles with her littermates, a memorable fight with a slashback, that time on Kerelia - but some deeply ingrained survival instinct kicked in and she suddenly launched herself at the Orion, snarling in his face and trying to get claws into him. For just a moment, the raider was too stunned to react, but his training kicked in and he responded with a resounding blow to the side of Left Ear's head. Sivaoan skulls were far harder than he'd accounted for, though. There was a reason they had the saying 'Head is harder than hand'. Left Ear shook it off and whipped her tail up to wrap around the Orion's neck. He was ready for her now, though, and managed to snag the long, parti-colored tail and give it a hard twist, eliciting a yowl from the Sivaoan. Out of patience, he grabbed his disruptor from its holster and shot Left Ear, causing her body to drop abruptly in a pile of limbs at his feet. Roughly, he manacled her, hand and foot, and swung the limp Sivaoan over his shoulder. He bared his teeth at the Starfleeters, daring them to try anything. [ LT Joshua Niles - Serenity Colony, Main Street ]Surrendering was never an action to be taken lightly. Niles knew it. Any officer in Starfleet knew it. [Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Main Street, Serenity --> Undisclosed Location] The faith in his gambit dipped as he first saw Left Ear resist. Left Ear wasn't a Starfleet officer, and thus not really under his command. It was a mixture of anger and relief that came upon him when the felinoid took a disrupter blast. "Hey! he called out. It was a futile attempt of protesting as Left Ear was quickly restrained. Mara then spoke, saying that none of this was supposed to have happened. Which meant that she had known these people were coming, and apparently this was something that had been going on for quite some time. Still, for things to escalate as they had, meant that there was something much larger at play than simply extorting the colony for its supplies. Quinn also paid the price for some of his words as he felt the disruptor strike him across the face. The movement boasted of the Orion's strength, but also painfully hinted at further information. The away team still had some use... some purpose. And possibly, Quinn had been right. Both Left Ear and himself had given these raiders a bit of trouble, but they hadn't been significantly harmed. Perhaps this Orion didn't have the authority to do so, which meant there possibly was another player in the game. Quinn felt the restraints applied to his wrists as his arms were wrenched behind his back. They were then marched to the transport. Quinn attempted to peer at the others, only catching glimpses, but had no idea why they'd decided to hogtie Mara. Perhaps it was a demonstration of how far they would go. Yet, in Quinn's opinion, she wasn't the largest threat. So, why go the extra mile with her? It felt as if they were being herded like cattle. Once they were forced to sit, Quinn did so. He still watched his captors carefully, seeking any hints at what could possibly give them some sort of advantage or clue about their location or whom had taken them. Lieutenant Niles' words caught his ear , and Quinn shrugged slightly. "Neither is the part where we get out of here," Quinn commented. "How's everyone holding up?" It was quite a question coming from him, having been the one to have been pistol whipped by Jaggah's disruptor.

[NPC - Jaggah & others - Main Street -> Undisclosed Location, Serenity]Somewhat cocky, Jaggah walked between the prisoners as they were hauled onto the transport, identifying victims to threaten. Finding two of the Starfleet non-coms talking, he forcefully backhand-slapped the Trill, and then looked between them. "There will be no speaking unless spoken to," he ordered. Onboard the transport, the prisoners (Mara among them) were separated from their captors by a metal barrier, and had no windows to view the landscape. However, one was present in the back, to reiterate the warning of "no speaking!" to the pistol-whipped LCDR as they flew the short distance (a flight intentionally made bumpy by the cruel Jaggah) to the villains' lair. Upon arrival, Jaggah leapt from the cockpit. "I have brought the Starfleeters!" he proclaimed. "You will carry Rexan with you!" the goon in the back ordered, though it was for the fleeters to work out how.

[ Mara Rexan - Main Street to Unknown Location, Serenity] From the moment that she had been struck before being so brutally hog tied, Mara's guilt continued to consume her. Even the bruises and other injuries that she had sustained did little to make her feel anything other than ashamed and defeated. The rough journey to the gang's compound and the occasional prod from one of Jaggah's brutes cut at her binding, inflicting more pain and questions as to why she had been separated from the others. No doubt they would soon find out why as the transport stopped and Jaggah proudly exclaimed that he had been successful. Then came the order for the Fleeters to carry her and Mara couldn't bring herself to resist or look at them as she laid there broken, hurt and with no fight left in her. ***************[Gang Compound - Unknown Location, Serenity]
Having been sent by the Boss to welcome Jaggah, the others and their prisoners, with very clear instructions. Taya hid the look of contempt as Jaggah proclaimed his return, wanting nothing better than to strike him down. Instead the attractive Orion woman grinned as she welcomed them.
"Welcome back, the Fleeters and Rexan are to be taken to Room 5, the rest to the usual place".

[Ready Room - USS Mac, Radira Sector]
To say that Thea was frustrated would be an understatement as the crew worked as quickly as possible to they could return to Serenity. It hadn't gotten to the point that Thea had retreated albeit temporarily into the ready room in an attempt to clear her mind. She didn't want to think about what they might find when they got back to the colony, yet couldn't shake the feeling that this was deliberate. Whoever was responsible would be found and brought to justice, the charges stacking up against them, especially if they had harmed the away team and the colonists.
Although perhaps they weren't so innocent in all of this but hopefully they would get the truth and not some poor attempt at it. Absentmindedly twirling the pendant that Isaiah had given her in her hands as she came up with various ideas on how to handle this.
Then came the call from Engineering with an update. =/\= Communications will be up and running within the hour Commander, as for warp drive that's going to take a little longer =/\=
Thea stopped her fidgeting in order to respond, knowing that it wasn't ideal but there was little she could do to speed up the process. =/\ = Acknowledged and thank you for keeping me updated, as soon as warp is available let me know, Baker out =/\=
Channel closed, Thea sat back and took a moment to just breath, before saying a silent prayer as she then got up and returned to the Bridge.

[PO3 Jovireh Velal - Serenity Colony - Main St.] [...] Hearing a soft voice behind her that obviously wasn't from the one who restrained her, Jov gave a slight shake of her head in response. "I wouldn't count on it," she replied quietly. Kaya had now internalized that it was that new PO Jovireh Velal from Niles' team in front of her, so Jov's terse doomsaying carried an unhappy weight to it. Or it didn't. "What? Why?" Kaya whispered rapidly trying to keep quiet and close behind Jov's tall frame. She was trying to convince Jovireh as much as herself. "They're some kind of mafia and will want some vek'tema cash, or they're political and have demands. Either way we're just -" Kaya had to cut her sentence short when they drew near to one of the attackers. She had the strangest feeling of being in trouble in school. Then came the order for the Fleeters to carry her and Mara couldn't bring herself to resist or look at them as she laid there broken, hurt and with no fight left in her. [PO3 Jovireh Velal - Serenity Colony - Transport] Jov felt bad for the Trill. This was a terrifying situation for anyone, and she understood the helplessness the engineer must be feeling. But there was a fine line between hope and naivety, and she wasn't sure which side of that line Kaya was on. "I really hope you're right," she replied softly, moments before there was a loudly barked order, and the unmistakable crack of a fist against a face. Digging her heel in, she spun to face Jaggah, stoney defiance set in her eyes as her muscles tensed and her heart raced. Her hands strained against the cuffs at her back, though not enough to be considered an actual escape attempt. As badly as she wanted to say something to defend the other woman, she held her tongue, and a moment later followed the others inside and carefully sat with her back against the wall. Her cheeks were flushed green with anger, her breathing deep as the adrenaline built steadily. They needed a plan to get out of this, but their captors were making certain they never got the opportunity. Shavan wasn't too far away, looking equally displeased with the entire situation as everyone else. Jov wondered if he could tell her anything about Orion anatomy that could give her an advantage if she got the opportunity to strike... but now was definitely not a good time to ask him. The rough ride was enough to distract her from the whirlwind of emotions, at least temporarily, as the constantly jostling slamming her back against the wall was making her shoulders ache. She tried to shift forward to reduce the impact of her arms, but that seemed to only make things worse. At long last they stopped, and she stared at the guard in disbelief as they were ordered to carry Rexan with them off the transport. Of course... typical humiliation tactic... and they would undoubtedly be punished if they took too long, or left the transport without her. With a frustrated sigh, Jovireh leaned sideways against the wall to push herself up to her feet and walked over to the hogtied Trill woman. Kneeling beside her, she spoke quietly and gently. As angry as she was that this woman had let this happen to them without saying a word of warning... she was already paying the price for her silence. Jov didn't need to add to her punishment. "If I help you roll over, do you think you can sit up?"
