[ Mara Rexan - Transport, Serenity] Mara knew that she couldn't wallow in self loathing and pity for much longer and yet wasn't sure if the Fleeters, would believe her when she finally plucked up the courage to tell them everything. Remembering the day the gang and their Boss who never showed their face, arrived claiming that they were an organisation who helped new colony's like Serenity. Having only been there a couple of months, her and the others agreed, not knowing what was going to happen. How they started threatening everyone and taking those who didn't work fast enough. Torching fields as punishment to those who remained until there was only a few of them left. How they had been forced to lie and how she had wanted to tell the Fleeters but then everything went wrong with them all being captured. The guilt still clawed at her insides, especially as a woman she recognised as Petty Officer Velal made her way down to her. Eyes searching hers as she asked if Mara would be able to sit if she helped to roll her over. Velal and the others had every right to hate her and shame washed over again as Mara spoke. " Yes I think so, thank you even though I don't deserve your help. I wanted to tell you but they arrived before I could, I'm sorry".Mara would understand if they didn't accept her apology and now they all faced uncertainty with her feeling like a piece of prized meat and being cut off from Taron and the others. Velal would see the tears forming in Mara's eyes but none had fallen yet.

[PO3 Jovireh Velal - Serenity Colony - Transport]The woman blurted out more than a simple answer to the question, probably wanting to make sure she apologized while she had the chance. It wasn't very reassuring about what they would be facing when they got off the transport. Not only could Jov see the tears in her eyes, but could also feel the overwhelming guilt, shame and humiliation. She lowered her head to lock her gaze with Mara's, allowing her sincerity to show even though she wasn't able to project her own emotions like other Betazoids could. "You can go over all that with Commander Quinn once we get out of this. Right now you need to focus. We either find a way to take you with us, or we leave you behind. And the latter is not an option." Her voice was firm, but still gentle, and she hoped the others on the away team would also set aside whatever personal feelings they had for the woman until they were all safely out of the Orion's grasp. Jov turned her gaze to inspect the way Mara was bound. Much like herself, the ties were short enough to not allow for much movement. They would probably need someone with broad shoulders and core strength... Which would likely be either Isaiah or Shavan. She looked over at the men. "This'll be a lot easier and faster with some help," she told them. Granted, they all had their hands tied behind their back, but six legs were better than two?

[NPC - Jaggah [...] Jaggah walked between the prisoners as they were hauled onto the transport, identifying victims to threaten. Finding two of the Starfleet non-coms talking, he forcefully backhand-slapped the Trill, and then looked between them. "There will be no speaking unless spoken to," he ordered. [...] [ CPO Kaya Som | Transport ]The slap shocked Kaya whose ears immediately began to ring and her eyes water. He'd got her across the cheek and a bit on her nose. It hurt, but what made it worse was that she couldn't do anything about it but bite back a shout and double forward over her knees to collect. After the initial shock abated a few seconds later, Kaya sat back up and gingerly pressed her face to her shoulder to find her nose was bleeding. Lovely. She closed her eyes, kept them closed, and tried to get control of a big panic threatening to take over. None of this was supposed to happen, none of this was supposed to happen. Her lips moved with the only prayer she could remember, something about storms. The transport had landed and there was activity in the passenger bay, but Kaya had forced herself to become oblivious, eyes shut tight to reality. Someone jostled her, insisting she get up in a tight whisper. It was Yande who seemed just a few notches more put together. " If you don't come, they'll make us carry you," she insisted. [fn]Yande Djigo, human. PO3 Engineering[/fn] At the back, short and sturdy Engineer Fournier lent his help to Velal and Rexan and the others. If he could do something maybe he wouldn't freak out. [ LT Joshua Niles - Serenity Colony, Main Street -> Undisclosed location]The flight to wherever they were going had been short enough, but with their wrists secured behind their backs and being shoved against hard bulkheads had made for an incredibly unpleasant journey. That, and given that they were made to remain quiet through the use of casual brutality did not help. However, while communication with one another was not going to be feasible, Niles could only hope he was not the only one with his eyes and ears open trying to soak in every bit of information he could acquire that way. On paper he was Security and Tactical; perhaps his expertise was more heavily concentrated in space-side operations than dealing with issues of physical security and investigation. But a tactical problem was a tactical problem. Whether it involves multiple megatons of starships and weapons fit to sterilize planets or a handful of people with small arms, the principles of analyzing the issue remained the same, though the criteria were different. However, when they arrived, the leader of the party that had taken the Away Team and the colony leader demanded they carry her to wherever they were going, while still bound. And just there, Niles recognized the type he was dealing with. Of course, Commander Quinn had made much of the same analysis at first, but he could expand upon it. Just a bully, a mean-spirited type who reveled in inflicting petty cruelties where he could, especially on victims who couldn't fight back. Well, one could always try something... "You want us to carry them, that's fine. But how about undoing my cuffs so I can do just that and not take all week? You've got enough armed goons to make sure I won't do anything stupid, don't you? Or are you so damned scared that one scrawny unarmed Starfleet officer wit his hands free is a match for you and all your thugs?"While Niles was not one to sneer, he instead resorted to the most aristocratic and superior tone of voice he had heard from his parents or their guests and acquaintances when he was growing up. Of course, showing a degree of contempt for their captors could backfire, but he was also attacking their pride and perceived toughness. And if he was right about that, he might be able to score just a tiny bit of a win, just barely enough to scuff the aura of their superiority, just thanks to appealing to their pride...

[Lt Shavan Th’zhaar - Transport, Unknown Location]
Shavan slid into a sitting position against the wall of the transport with the rest of the team, thinking. Whatever the others might say, he didn’t think they could count on a rescue from Starfleet anytime soon. Which meant they had to be smart about this, and get as much information as they could. Maybe they would be able to learn more when they were finally brought to whoever was in charge.
He looked up when Quinn, sitting nearby, asked how everyone was doing. Just great. “Fine, I-“ he fell silent again when one of the goons demanded no talking. At this stage it would do no good to draw attention to himself as someone who would make trouble. Shavan tried to think of a plan to hijack the transport, but before he could try anything they had already landed. So they hadn’t gone far, and were still on the planet.
When they were told to carry Mara, he almost broke the silence as he stared at the goon incredulously. However, it was Niles who objected first. That was unlikely to end well. So instead Shavan got to his feet while Jov was the first to approach Mara. “Of course,” he answered quietly when she motioned to them for help, and took a position next to the engineer to awkwardly help lift and carry her out.

[NPC - Jaggah & Thammirc - Unknown Location, Serenity]
Jaggah let his goons show the way towards Room 5, while he returned to bother the hostages. Making them carry Rexan was an excellent touch, but there was more to do.
And his accomplice, a fellow Orion, was being insulted by one of the fleeters, a right asshole even by fleet standards.
"Shut your pie hole!" the accomplice barked, as he pistol-whipped Niles forcefully.
"Cool it, Thammirc," Jaggah scolded the accomplice. "We're not brutes."
"Every time you misbehave, we will hurt Rexan," he proclaimed. Reaching between the fleeters, he thrust his disruptor rifle at the back of her knee, with great, violent force.
"Now, to Room 5. Double-time! If you can't move Rexan, we'll move her for you!"

[PO3 Jovireh Velal - Serenity Colony - Transport]Niles started mouthing off to their captors, and Jovireh had to struggle not to roll her eyes when she heard a pistol strike his face. She wasn't sure what he had thought would happen... but that pretty much worked out exactly how she thought it would. Shavan and one of the engineers came over to help with Rexan, and she nodded to them each in gratitude. Before they could figure out how to get her up, however, Jaggah thrust his own rifle past her to strike Mara in the knee, and Jovireh clenched her jaw and fists, struggling to keep herself from lashing out. Had her arms been free, she could have taken his weapon from him in that moment, and she didn't doubt that was entirely his point. Another show of force to prove how helpless they were. Thankfully that was the only move he made, and the three of them were left to pick up the Trill woman. It was still rather difficult, but eventually between the three of them they were able to bring her with them as they followed the others to wherever they were being taken. Slowly, and a bit painfully, they made their way along, until they found themselves being herded into a large, concrete room... completely empty spare for a single steel table in the center. That certainly did not make her feel any better about their situation. Coordinating with the two men, trying to use as few words as possible, she shuffled over to the far wall to set Mara down on her knees. They couldn't untie her, but at least they could give her some of her dignity back by not leaving her face-down. "Thanks guys," she told Shavan and the engineer quietly, rolling her shoulders as best she could to try and relieve the ache. Turning back to the door, she looked around, taking a mental tally of those in the room, trying to make sure none of the away team had been separated...

{Quoted Posts} [NPC - Jaggah & others - Main Street -> Undisclosed Location, Serenity]Somewhat cocky, Jaggah walked between the prisoners as they were hauled onto the transport, identifying victims to threaten. Finding two of the Starfleet non-coms talking, he forcefully backhand-slapped the Trill, and then looked between them. "There will be no speaking unless spoken to," he ordered. Onboard the transport, the prisoners (Mara among them) were separated from their captors by a metal barrier, and had no windows to view the landscape. However, one was present in the back, to reiterate the warning of "no speaking!" to the pistol-whipped LCDR as they flew the short distance (a flight intentionally made bumpy by the cruel Jaggah) to the villains' lair. Upon arrival, Jaggah leapt from the cockpit. "I have brought the Starfleeters!" he proclaimed. "You will carry Rexan with you!" the goon in the back ordered, though it was for the fleeters to work out how. [ Mara Rexan - Main Street to Unknown Location, Serenity] From the moment that she had been struck before being so brutally hog tied, Mara's guilt continued to consume her. Even the bruises and other injuries that she had sustained did little to make her feel anything other than ashamed and defeated. The rough journey to the gang's compound and the occasional prod from one of Jaggah's brutes cut at her binding, inflicting more pain and questions as to why she had been separated from the others. No doubt they would soon find out why as the transport stopped and Jaggah proudly exclaimed that he had been successful. Then came the order for the Fleeters to carry her and Mara couldn't bring herself to resist or look at them as she laid there broken, hurt and with no fight left in her. ***************[Gang Compound - Unknown Location, Serenity]
Having been sent by the Boss to welcome Jaggah, the others and their prisoners, with very clear instructions. Taya hid the look of contempt as Jaggah proclaimed his return, wanting nothing better than to strike him down. Instead the attractive Orion woman grinned as she welcomed them.
"Welcome back, the Fleeters and Rexan are to be taken to Room 5, the rest to the usual place".
[PO3 Jovireh Velal - Serenity Colony - Transport] Jov felt bad for the Trill. This was a terrifying situation for anyone, and she understood the helplessness the engineer must be feeling. But there was a fine line between hope and naivety, and she wasn't sure which side of that line Kaya was on. "I really hope you're right," she replied softly, moments before there was a loudly barked order, and the unmistakable crack of a fist against a face. Digging her heel in, she spun to face Jaggah, stoney defiance set in her eyes as her muscles tensed and her heart raced. Her hands strained against the cuffs at her back, though not enough to be considered an actual escape attempt. As badly as she wanted to say something to defend the other woman, she held her tongue, and a moment later followed the others inside and carefully sat with her back against the wall. Her cheeks were flushed green with anger, her breathing deep as the adrenaline built steadily. They needed a plan to get out of this, but their captors were making certain they never got the opportunity. Shavan wasn't too far away, looking equally displeased with the entire situation as everyone else. Jov wondered if he could tell her anything about Orion anatomy that could give her an advantage if she got the opportunity to strike... but now was definitely not a good time to ask him. The rough ride was enough to distract her from the whirlwind of emotions, at least temporarily, as the constantly jostling slamming her back against the wall was making her shoulders ache. She tried to shift forward to reduce the impact of her arms, but that seemed to only make things worse. At long last they stopped, and she stared at the guard in disbelief as they were ordered to carry Rexan with them off the transport. Of course... typical humiliation tactic... and they would undoubtedly be punished if they took too long, or left the transport without her. With a frustrated sigh, Jovireh leaned sideways against the wall to push herself up to her feet and walked over to the hogtied Trill woman. Kneeling beside her, she spoke quietly and gently. As angry as she was that this woman had let this happen to them without saying a word of warning... she was already paying the price for her silence. Jov didn't need to add to her punishment. "If I help you roll over, do you think you can sit up?"[ Mara Rexan - Transport, Serenity] Mara knew that she couldn't wallow in self loathing and pity for much longer and yet wasn't sure if the Fleeters, would believe her when she finally plucked up the courage to tell them everything. "Now, to Room 5. Double-time! If you can't move Rexan, we'll move her for you!" [Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Unknown Location, Serenity] So, this was where they decided to divide and conquer. The away team along with Rexan were to be taken somewhere known as Room 5. Isaiah's eyes took in the scene, as well as the new players. Chief among them, for instance, was another Orion... the female that had greeted them and named their room assignments. Perhaps it was the way she had said as much, but it didn't seem that she was at the very top of the food chain either. With as many Orions running about, Isaiah began to wonder if the Syndicate was behind this. Still, what was the motive. Surely things weren't that tough for the Syndicate, because extorting supplies form colonists seemed rather small time. They had also been tasked with carrying Mara. Jovireh was the first to make it over to the woman. Quinn had to applaud Velal. Besides just being a decent person, she was also establishing a rapport with Mara. That would could go a long way in persuading Mara to be a bit more forthcoming about their captors. Perhaps even divulge something that they could use. When Jovireh asked some of the others to help carry Mara, Shavan and Fournier had stepped forward to assist the security officer. Niles had spoken up with the suggestion that carrying Mara would be easier if they were unrestrained. One of the goons sought to make an example of Niles by pistol-whipping him as well. "Hey!" Isaiah called out, not liking the sight of one of his officers receiving the same treatment he had earlier from Jaggah. Though, it was actually Jaggah who had scolded his accomplice. Jaggah then pointed out that none of the members of the away team would be punished for misbehaving, but instead it would be Rexan. He then drove his rifle into her knee with such great force, that the sound of the collision was sickening in itself. "Enough! We'll carry her!"Isaiah moved as quickly and as closely as he could to the others that had gathered near Rexan. "Velal, Shavan, Fournier. If you need to swap out, say the word, one of us will take your place." Isaiah turned and glared in Jaggah's direction before turning his attention to the others. "Close on their flank, Lieutenant." The science officer used the opportunity to utter the brief whisper to inspect the the tactical officer's condition. He then looked back towards the last of the team. "Yande, get a move on. Chief, you're on me." His eyes lingered, searching for the Trill's. He knew this was far from an ideal situation, but the last thing he wanted was to leave Kaya's fate in the hands of a brute like Jaggah. His use of her rank was intentional, hoping that it would jar the spirit he'd seen in her eyes on the night of her promotion.

[Mara Rexan - Unknown Location, Serenity]
Mara nodded as Petty Officer Velal spoke to her, unable to say anything other than nod due to the overwhelming emotions going on inside. She was right, Mara had to focus and appreciated that they didn't hate her enough to leave her behind. Not that Jaggah would let them as she knew what he was capable of and was no doubt enjoying seeing her being degraded and humiliated like this.
As others came to help, Mara wished she could tell them how thankful she was, that's until some of the team spoke out and she received the punishment after Niles was struck. Biting down hard, breaking the skin on her bottom lip so as not to scream with the pain of the rifle in the back of her knee. Mara was left feeling lightheaded but she tried not to think of it as she got into a sitting position before the others carried her into this room 5.
There was another nod of thanks once they reached the almost empty and sterile room but wasn't sure if her now being upright was a good thing or not. Daring not to speak just yet as she knew that the goons wouldn't be too far behind.

[Unknown Location - Serenity] The hooded figure had watched the prisoners arrival from their office, almost cackling in delight at how everything had gone to plan. Now it was time to have some real fun, especially with Mara Rexan, whilst forcing the Fleeters to watch helplessly with no immediate hope of escape or rescue. No by the time they were done, it didn't matter when the Mac arrived, especially if they got their hands on Thea Baker as well or perhaps this would be enough to get their revenge. Leaving the luxury of the office, the figure silently began to move towards room 5 but not before sending a signal to Jaggah and his men. Have Rexan placed onto the table and prepare the instruments

[Left Ear to-Ennien - Serenity]
Left Ear remained unconscious throughout the short journey in the transport. While her captor enjoyed watching the bound Starfleeters struggling to carry Mara to the designated room, he decided to throw his feline captive over his shoulder again to carry her into Room 5.
She was kind of fluffy, despite a slight roughness to the fur, and he wondered if Jaggah would let him keep the felinoid for a pet. For the time being, however, he dumped Left Ear into an awkward-looking pile of limbs on the bare floor and strode out of the room.

[ CPO Kaya Som, PO2 Fournier, PO3 Djigo | Room 5 ]'Chief, you're on me.' Quinn's voice brought Kaya to the surface enough for her to return his glance and get to her feet along with Yande and trudge on in a self-protective haze. Out of the transport, down a gangway, into a hangar, and through a series of featureless hallways and into a cold bare room marked 5. Kaya hesitated in the doorway. It wasn't a Starfleet brig with force fields and cots. It was a storage room. A tomb. A guard dumped Left Ear on the floor, then locked them all in. They were alone, for the moment. From behind her eyes, Kaya looked around at the others from behind her own eyes. She could hear her lungs in her ears. Everybody else all looked so calm. How could they all be so calm? Why wasn't anybody doing anything? But Kaya had to keep the ever-increasing pressure at bay. With a thousand-yard stare, she put her back against the wall and slid down to sitting. If she said another word or moved another inch, she felt certain she'd explode and never pull the pieces back together. Meanwhile Yande Djigo went to check on Left Ear. As best she could, rolling the Sivoan into a more comfortable position. Étienne followed the lead of the officers in getting Mara Rexan where she needed to be. "I'm not even supposed to be here," he said with an uncomfortable laugh. "I switched with someone. Believe that?"Yande for Ozu Saya (Left-Ear); Fournier for Isaiah Quinn , Joshua Niles , Jovireh Velal, Thea Baker (Mara)

[ LT Joshua Niles - Serenity Colony, Undisclosed location]No sooner had he spoken that Niles found himself regretting his choice. With a brutal impact, his vision exploded with a bright light and pain shot through his entire skull. He was not quite certain he he had wound up there, but when his vision cleared he was down to one knee on the uncompromising floor, more pain radiating from that joint, and when he spat to clear his mouth of liquid that had been accumulating there, a gobbet of blood accompanied by a shard of tooth came out. That, and he could feel blood running down from his cheekbone, and he knew that soon it would start staining his collar. His ears were still ringing from the blow when the leader of the raid was speaking, but the Lieutenant understood none of it; to him, it sounded as though a much deeper-voiced version of the teacher in the ancient cartoon Charlie Brown was speaking... while underwater. However, he did not need to hear to comprehend was was expected of him, and he laboriously returned to his feet and fell in along the side of the others as they were ushered into a bare, sterile, and vaguely menacing room. However, by the time the door locked behind the party, his head had cleared, and he could feel every little bit of discomfort he was in, and he found himself grateful, for the very first time, that he suffered from chronic pain. He had known, intellectually, that such a condition would raise one's pain threshold; thus far it had been helpful with minor things, but he wouldn't be surprised if that was the one thing keeping him functional at this point, with his mouth throbbing where teeth had been damaged, his cheek pulsating where the skin had been cut, and his knee smarting where, he just realized, the skin had been broken when he'd come down. However, they had some time now. Probably a whole lot, but they had a few moments to at least think. Making his way to Commander Quinn, he managed a nod. "Tactical assessment, Sir, says the situation isn't good." Of course, it wasn't good and he was stating the obvious. But, the pale joke was a way for the Lieutenant to release some stress. Of course, the Science Officer would be familiar with conduct after capture protocols, and they would have to sum up what they knew thus far. "By the sound and feel of it, I'd say our flight was entirely in atmosphere, so we're not too far from the colony. I can't start to guess at their numbers, but like you established on the flight, the one who led the raid isn't more than middle-management, and the ones under him might not be the most professional. Lots of casual violence, so that tells me thugs and bullies, and they enjoy just hurting people for its own sake. And it looks like they have something personal against Miss Rexan. Now question is, how much can we trust her?"He had been speaking quietly, and while, on paper, he was the expert in such situations he expected Petty Officer Velal would have more practical experience and Commander Quinn was in charge; respecting the chain of command in a crisis was key to survival and eventual escape. "In the meantime, I'd recommend we get Chief Som and PO Velal to get a look at our restraints, see if they can start breaking us free."Indeed, make his recommendations, let the Sir make the call... and keep their eyes open.

[PO3 Jovireh Velal - Unknown Location - Room 5]There was something about the way the guard felt as he carried Left Ear into the room that made Jov's lip curl in disgust and anger, but she said nothing as the Sivaoan was dropped on the floor and they were finally left alone. One of the engineers went to help her, and Jovireh's attention was drawn to Kaya. The Chief was obviously on the verge of breaking, she could tell that even without the panic clawing at her own chest. Between her fear and Mara's guilt, it was getting rather difficult for the empath to focus. But she had to focus. Situations like this is what she was here for. Taking a deep, steadying breath, she moved over to kneel in front of Kaya, speaking softly and as comfortingly as she knew how. "Hey... We're going to get through this. It won't be easy, and we can't afford to just sit back and wait... But we will get through this." It wasn't that long ago that Kaya had been in another fight for her life. Jovireh didn't blame her for being so shaken now. "Just do what they say for now... And I'll do whatever I can not to let them touch you again." She knew she couldn't promise the other woman wouldn't be hurt, but she could promise to do her best to protect her. She heard Niles talking to Quinn behind her, and though she couldn't quite make out what he was saying, she did hear him mention her and the Chief. "You're the best Engineer we've got. We need your help if we're going to get out of here. Think you can focus on that for a bit?" Remind her of her strengths, and hopefully she won't focus too much on her weaknesses.

[NPCs - Jaggah & Thammirc - Room 5, Unknown Location, Serenity]
Jaggah contemplated another violent strike against Rexan, as a punishment for the Commander's unwanted talk, but decided to refrain from it. They would suffer soon enough.
"Get Leran," he whispered to Thammirc, as he watched the starfleeters making their way, pathetic, to room 5. He let them have a brief moment to settle in, even to try to console each other, and then entered himself. Sure enough, they looked pathetic.
"What did we say about talking?" he asked, as he went and grabbed Mara Rexan with his considerable strength. He carried her to the table, and then strapped her on it in the prone position, releasing the hogtie in the process.
Like a charm, Thammirc came in, with Amira Leran draped over his shoulder. The half-Betazoid had been dressed in an old medical gown, and some of her wounds had received rudimentary medical care, just enough to keep her alive. So confident were they that they'd broken her body and spirit with repeated torture sessions, that she wasn't restrained at all. Her bare feet, in particular, stood out as having received the worst treatment.
"This was once Amira Leran, a scientist," Jaggah explained, as though Amira was already dead, while Thammirc threw her to the floor, for the fleeters to see. "If you misbehave, Mara Rexan will be the same."
Jaggah and Thammirc left, and the door closed behind them.
