[ CPO Kaya Som, PO3 Yande Djigo ]To Yande's surprise Left Ear came to in violent shock and Yande pulled away. "Shh! You're okay!" Yande whispered. "We're all here, you're fine." But what could she really say? All they could do was try to keep their heads, stay together, and pray for some break in their captivity. Across the room, Jovireh tried to pull Kaya from the secret space she'd made for herself. Jovireh's words were as good as anyone could manage, a message meant to give Kaya some pride and purpose. The words had a long way to travel before they found her. 'Best Engineer they had'? Best in the room, maybe. [ Left Ear to-Ennien - Serenity - Room of Doom] Petty Officer Djigo was quite unfortunate that she was so close when Left Ear began to rouse from unconsciousness because she came up off the floor with a snarl that echoed around the bare room, teeth opened wide to snap at her captor. Petty Officer Djigo was fortunate that for a brief moment, the Sivaoan's sense of smell told her that this wasn't the one who'd knocked her out and stopped her just shy of taking off the petty officer's face. Left Ear threw herself back to the floor, only then realizing that her arms and legs were restrained. She began to struggle, keening in panic, her tail whipping wildly as she pulled against the cuffs. Because of how her body and shoulders were built, her hands were bound in front, but it wasn't the least bit comforting. She couldn't see or hear anything that was happening around her as her panic rose. ---------- Tag Kaya Som , soft tags to everyone [PO3 Jovireh Velal - Unknown Location - Room 5]Everything was happening all at once. Left Ear awoke in a panic, Mara was strapped to the table, someone else was brought in and dropped off on the floor with more threats from their captors. But Jovireh's focus remained on Kaya. Slowly, gradually, the Chief began to pull herself out of her mind, her gaze shifting into focus before she spoke. Jov smiled and nodded at the request, turning on her knees so the engineer could inspect her binds. "Could it be a magnetic lock?" she asked quietly, watching as Shavan and Quinn talked to the colonist prisoners. Good... It seemed everyone was doing what they could to pitch in. It gave a much greater chance of them getting out, than if everyone was arguing and at each other throats. She remained in position between Kaya and the door, partly to allow the Chief to continue inspecting the cuffs, and partly to block her from sight of anyone else who entered the room. Her attention shifted to Left Ear, though. While she hadn't attacked the engineer who was trying to help her, she was still wide-eyed in panic, running on survival instinct rather than processing where she was. Rather than speaking, Jov clucked her tongue a few times, before relaxing her mouth and releasing a slow breath, imitating the sound of a purr as best she was capable of. It wasn't exactly like what she had heard the Sivaoan use to calm Kiz that day in the park, but she hoped it was close enough to have a similar calming affect on Left Ear.

"Could be mag, could be force field but it doesn't matter does it?" She looked up the rest of the room and raised her voice, "unless anyone has a vek'tema arc spanner up their ass!" It would take something small, precise and powerful to disrupt whatever the handcuffs' securing mechanism was. Their comm badges were little more than jewelry on a good day and their phasers had been taken. It was a dead end and Kaya couldn't bear the disappointment. If security had done their jobs at all they wouldn't be here. If Baker hadn't run off on some half-cacked errand they wouldn't be here. It was a miracle they hadn't all died months ago the risks they were all constantly forced to take. Working with the Nyberrites, Perry getting himself blown up, not to mention the Talorians and the actual deaths in the nebula. It was a miracle they weren't all dead already. She had stopped struggling, and was looking at her, but was still clearly not in the right frame of mind yet. Jov instantly fell silent as the door opened once more, and watched as the hooded figure walked right past Quinn and Niles to talk to the woman strapped to the table. The hooded figure was obviously relying heavily on them being restrained rendering them all helpless. That would be their undoing. She watched closely, her attempts to soothe the others momentarily abandoned as she took it upon herself to learn everything she could about this new person through their body language. Hopefully one of the others standing closer were listening just as intently to what was being said.

[USS Mac - Just Outside The Moriah System]
Luck had finally won through for the Mac, thanks to their hardworking Engineering team who had managed to restore warp drive. Enabling the ship to catch up with the Absolute at the rendezvous point without any further delays. Between both ships they had been able to discuss the plan in more detail. Confident that it would succeed, everyone got to work and whilst it was against regulations, nothing was going to stop Thea from leading the rescue mission.
With that in mind and with their arrival imminent, scans were being run to locate the away team's location and to break through the jamming signal that had been established after the Mac had left. Thea could now be found in the shuttle bay preparing to leave in one of the shuttles whilst the rest of her team would take the Ark.
They had some information that would be useful and those responsible were unlikely to be expecting this kind of rescue effort but that would be their advantage.

[NPC - Jaggah - Room 5]Jaggah let his boss enter the room first, to let the terror set in, before he himself followed in, to have just a little bit of fun. He walked in, with an almost martial characteristic to his stride, indicating that he, like the Starfleeters, was under orders... except his orders were different. Finding the chatty Trill from earlier, he gave her a little kick to the side. "All quiet now, are we?" he taunted.

[Lt Shavan Th’zhaar - Room 5, Serenity] It was too bad Amira couldn’t answer in any more detail, though the last part at least was something. No doubt rescuing the rest of the colonists would also be part of the mission when they made it out. “Okay,” Shavan answered, thinking. “So-“ he cut off as the door opened and the hooded figure walked through. He glanced at Amira, wondering if this was the boss. While the person focused their attention on Mara he stood up slowly. Maybe it would be best to stay quiet, and he would only get a beating for this. But he was getting really tired of being in the dark and having nothing to go on. If they just wanted to get Thea here then there wasn’t much he could say to get out of this, but they had to keep trying. He ignored Jaggah- they wouldn’t get anything out of him with the boss in the room. Instead Shavan tried to step between the hooded figure and Mara, addressing them coldly and directly. “How about you show us who you are and what you want from us.”

[PO3 Jovireh Velal - Unknown Location - Room 5]Her attention was drawn from the hooded figure as Jaggah entered the room once more. At the moment he was the bigger threat, as the large Orion saw Kaya behind her and walked straight towards them. Perhaps trying to block the Trill from view wasn't the best idea, and it certainly hadn't worked. Jovireh shifted her weight, adjusted her balance, brought her feet beneath her... And when Jaggah struck out with his foot to kick Kaya in the side, Jov propelled herself up diagonally, attempting to drive her shoulder into the man's gut while he was balanced on one leg. Of course she'd probably get beat for this, but it was better than him picking on Kaya when she was doing what they told her to.

Kaya could never remember being so blindingly angry. It was as overwhelming as the fear and pain and just as paralyzing. Her crewmates seemed to take turns trying to summon from her a reserve of efficacy she just didn't have. It was all so hollow and pointless. Since the massacre on the Jupiter Star, she'd been tapping into it but never replenishing it, and now it was utterly spent. She'd pretended she was fine and had even believed it. She'd learned about farming in acidic soil in a mixture prairie/oak savannah. She'd typed up a report.
Yande was doing better with it. Yande was fresh and could compartmentalize. Yande, maybe, had found hope that might not be there.
"It won't be enough, sir," she answered Lieutenant Quinn's suggestion about combining the comm badges. "Maybe enough for one."
Starfleet combadges were amazing feats of engineering and incredibly efficient, able to function on very little power. She could certainly be wrong and missing something important, but she didn't see it working.
Then once again, the room seemed to be filled with aggression. A hooded figure arrived and so did Jaggah. Jaggah went straight for Kaya who yelled and curled up, only half aware of Shavan and Jovireh's vain and valiant attempts to resist, even though they knew what would happen.
Kaya left again, eyes shut tight. This wasn't happening, this wasn't happening, this wasn't happening. They had nothing. She was going to die here. They were all going to die.

[ LT Joshua Niles - Serenity Colony, Undisclosed location ]Niles was just getting control over his rapidly accelerating heartbeat and breathing when Commander Quinn called out to him to calm down. Of course. This was no time to lose control, but the fact they'd been so backstabbed, especially when there had been a window of opportunity just before they had beamed down or even immediately after they'd hit the ground to pass on that message, rankled. He could understand being hesitant to do anything given the threats that had allegedly been made, but with a Sovereign-class starship in orbit with all of its resources, those thugs wouldn't have had a bloody chance. And frankly, even if they had ships of their own, finding enough tonnage and firepower to effectively challenge one of Starfleet's most advanced units would have been more than unlikely. Taking a few steps away to seek to calm down by venting that pent-up anger with what limited means were available to him, he listened to what both the Commander and the Chief had to say about getting freed. Now, an arc spanner wasn't much, really. A handle, a power source, and something to shape the field. The principles behind it were actually childishly simple, the same kind that were routinely explored in grade school science classes... And, just as he was about to reply to the engineer, the door opened and he turned to face it. First was the brute who'd led the raid on the colony itself, and Joshua Niles found himself very keenly conscious of the blood that he spilled from the cut to his cheek, had saturated his beard and was now staining his neck and collar. He'd gotten that trying to find information, as well as humanizing himself to their captors. Of those, only one of those aims succeeded, and it had not been making themselves more sympathetic. And what success had been reached had been... minimal. The hooded figure, clearly a leader of some sort, was to Josh's instincts a sadist who just couldn't let go of past slights. And, just to make things worse, the big Orion kicked Som in the side, and Velal fairly flew at him. Fuck, he found himself thinking as that was happening; this would not end well for the Petty Officer, and with some luck they would still show a degree of restraint... for in the immediate, Niles did not feel like rushing in, his aggression held in check by one single overriding concern: an opportunity to escape. For if he was right, and the scientist's free hands could be of use while Kaya Som's brains and eyes would provide the expertise, he had a literal trick up his sleeve...

That's until one of Thea's people decided to be brave or stupid, perhaps both as he tried to get answers from them. However they weren't about to give him that satisfaction and besides they where merely pawns and not worthy of his full attention.
With Jaggah preoccupied, the figure asserted their dominance by striking Mara harshly to hopefully serve as a further warning as they looked to the Lieutenant with disdain. " Oh don't worry you'll get find that out soon and I only want what's due to me, so I suggest you all do as your told, otherwise this one dies, along with your precious Commander, before we torch this entire colony".

"Maybe enough for one."Starfleet combadges were amazing feats of engineering and incredibly efficient, able to function on very little power.

"You're only hurting yourself," he grunted, grabbing his foolish assailant with both arms to jostle her. In this kerfuffle, the disruptor slipped from Jaggah's waist, onto the floor, cracking down the middle as it landed with a faint metallic clanging.
Tag Jovireh Velal , Kaya Som . [ Left Ear to-Ennien - Serenity - Room of Doom] Left Ear was snapped out of her daze by the massive Orion tilting her direction as Jovireh knocked him away from Kaya. With a startled squawk, she scooted close to the engineer, actually curling her body around the Trill. It took her a moment to realize that Kaya was in much the same state she herself had been a moment ago. Almost automatically, a purr started to rumble deep in her throat, pressing her whiskered cheek close to Kaya's. She couldn't help still pulling against the restraints every so often, the effort causing breaks in her purring while she strained. ---------- Tag Kaya Som

There was a flurry of movement as Left Ear ran behind her and the man's disruptor fell to the ground. She didn't have a chance to kick it away from him, however, as he recovered quickly and grabbed her arms roughly. Pain split through both shoulders as he shook her, but she ignored it, meeting his gazed with steeled defiance as her lip curled into a sneer at his words. Her plan was working... Good. If she kept him angry at her, he'd leave the others alone. She could hear Shavan talking to the hooded figure off the side, and there was the sound of a strike, but she couldn't worry about that now. "So do it," she taunted Jaggah with venom in her voice. "You've been making an awful lot of promises, but I'm starting to get disappointed. If you can't get it up, just say so." Jovireh didn't normally resort to verbal insults, but with her hands still restrained behind her she didn't have much of a choice. Another physical assault and he'd likely just knock her out. No, she needed to keep his attention on her, and this was the only way she could think of in their current situation.

[Thea - Artemis, Serenity]
Three shuttles and two transports had left both the Mac and the Absolute on schedule to begin searching for the missing away team and all of the colonists. Realising that the colony was empty had been established the moment that they had arrived planet side and thanks to someone's mistakes were able to pick up a residual energy trail from whatever was used to take them. Confident that they would locate them soon, a very determined and focused Thea was currently sat up front next to the flight officer who was handling the Artemis with keen precision.
Regular contact continued between all of the teams as they worked on neutralising the jamming signal that had cut the away teams comms off from the ship. " Commander, I've found something, looks like it's just beyond the mountain range up ahead and... I suggest trying comms" Laurel said from just behind her.
" Excellent, change course to head towards it and understood".

[Operations Centre - Unknown Location, Serenity] Kala the Orion woman who had greeted Jaggah and the prisoners was now back at her post. Her role had a multitude of uses but for the moment she was one of two people responsible for monitoring sensors, so they could inform the Boss when the Mac eventually arrived in the system. Not that they expected that to happen anytime soon, thanks to the issues that the Avalon caused. So when the proximity alert went off a few minutes later, Kala knew that this was very bad. She knew that the Boss wouldn't be happy about the interruption but perhaps she could avoid punishment especially since Baker was near. However as she opened the comm, the others in the room sounded the alarm rather than wait for instructions. No doubt wanting to flee before they got caught. Kala stayed and made the call to Room 5. =//= Boss, Baker is almost here and has brought reinforcements including another starship, what are your orders? =//= *****************
[Hooded Figure - Room 5, Serenity] There was a growl of frustration as the Andorian hybrid continued talking and the figure had never known someone who was so insolent and as such Mara was now destined to die. However when Kala called, their frustration turned to hope and glee at the thought of finally confronting Thea. Their mind made up, they left their now useless second in command to the Fleeters. Not caring if he lived or not or the loss of their prisoners especially with the chance to get revenge on the woman who had spurned them. Mara might of been the one to warn Thea and helped to bring about their dismissal after but Thea was the one that they wanted all of this time. Years of hiding, of getting to this position thanks to the syndicate taking them in and now it was time. Once inside their ship, the hood came down as they activated the auto pilot. images.app.goo.gl/bqAyTVpgCjM8Tey6A
