[USS Mac - Approaching The Talor System] [Approximately one month after Law Of The Jungle] The Mac was currently en route to Talor Prime after receiving priority orders directly from Admiral Simmons. Their mission was to assist and provide much needed aid to the Talorians, as well as determine what had caused a number of devastating floods. Their losses had been plentiful and several provinces were still under water, resulting in the kind of emergency that had left their government no choice but to reach out for help. Their application to join the Federation may still be under consultation thanks to their previous encounters. However the Mac was the closest ship and after filling the cargo bays with equipment and rows upon rows of supplies. The crew accompanied by Captain Eastman had left Front Ear as quickly as they could and were now less than an hour away from their destination. [Sickbay - Deck 7] With Judy overseeing things on the Bridge and with their destination in sight. Thea had spent the last couple of ours in Sickbay, something that she rarely got to do these days, except for her designated days on the station. Despite her still recent change in career, this was where her heart truly belonged and for the Doctor, served as a reminder of who she was underneath the uniform. Besides it felt good to spend a few hours here, overseeing the last of the packing of medkits and crates filled with additional medical supplies for their mission. Helping the Talorians was likely something that none of them could ever of imagined, especially after the murder and attempted murder that had occurred only a few months before. Yet here they were and Thea knew that those who still held grudges would have to try and put them aside, if they had any chance of averting the kind of disaster that could potentially wipe out an entire race. Pushing that thought away momentarily as she loaded the last box into a crate. Thea then turned to those present, " That's the last of them, have Ops beam them down to the cargo bay" she instructed, then added. " I need to get back to the Bridge, those who are scheduled to be a part of the initial landing party. Collect what you need and report to transporter room one within the hour".Thea then prepared to leave Sickbay, but not before she answered any questions, that the medical staff may have. [Princess Elana - Talor City, Talor Prime]
Having just returned from what remained of Malari Province, Elana was devastated at seeing what was left of her village. Her pain and grief over losing her family home clawed at her chest and wondered if she could ever bare any more losses. Malari wasn't the only province that had suffered and Elana had begun to lose count of those who had lost their lives. The dead had been honoured according to tradition and yet it didn't feel like it was enough, not when the threat still hung over their entire race.
Drying her eyes after letting the tears flow, Elana knew that she had to get to the camp that had been set up for the survivors. Aware that the Mac was being sent to help and the last thing she wanted was to be late for their arrival. The Princess had been one of the most vocal in asking the Federation for assistance and hoped that everyone, including L'Sho could put aside their differences if Talor had any chance to survive this.
Once she was more presentable and had changed into another practical outfit. Elana then departed the Royal residence with her bodyguards and headed towards the rendezvous point, in order to welcome the Mac crew.

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Lt. j.g. Mabel Henriksen - Bridge, USS Mac]
For her whole life, Judy had been a firm believer in the Jewish doctrine of Tikkun Olam, the pursuit of greater justice for all. As such, she was whole with the mission of assisting the Talorians in dealing with their natural disasters.
The Captain brought with her a batch of treats, as usual. Today, she'd made a rather impressive espresso cheesecake, admittedly a rather high-effort treat. Mabel entered behind her, with a folding table, plates, and utensils.
"This is a coffee cheesecake for all of you. Plenty of sugar, and quite a bit of caffeine as well," she invited the crew as she entered the bridge, setting the cheesecake down on Mabel's tray. "We've got a long day ahead of us."

[Kaela - Sector 1A, Arrivals, Prime Camp, Talor City]
There were poetic parallels to be drawn from the Talorian's current situation. Their planet was under attack... from itself. Just like their people were under attack from each other. Behind every corner was a threat. Every word was weighed and judged and used against you. At the end of every long day wasn't rest, but worry. As a scientist, this wasn't something Kaela ever thought she'd have to contend with. But here she was, daughter of a dead diplomat, amongst the very people indirectly responsible for his death.
With flat, handheld computer in hand, she approached the arrival pad, where a number of others were waiting for the Federation contingent to descend. She'd been tasked with liaising between their science personnel and her own Council of Scholars. As uncomfortable as she was in this role, she would not refuse any assistance these people could offer. She would deal only in facts from that moment onward.

[ LT Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ]Disaster relief was part of Starfleet's mission statement even at the worst of times. And even when non-Federation members requested assistance, it could mean a starship, or many, could be dispatched to render assistance. That was something that one Joshua Niles had always known about, and he had no fundamental problems with this notion. In fact, he was in full agreement with it. After all, a starship, especially a major unit the likes of the Mac, was a treasure trove of capabilities. Sensors, laboratories and scientists, medical facilities, some industrial fabrication capabilities, communications relay, performing traffic control functions, supplying engineers and other warm bodies as required, the list was endless; in fact, there weren't enough people and resources on board to satisfy every requirement a disaster-stricken world could possibly have or to fulfill every relief function that may be needed. However, in this case, this same Lieutenant Nile had considered requesting being relieved of duty for the duration of this particular operation. To say he harboured no love for the Talorians would have been an understatement, and he had plenty of reasons for it. He had also considered simply recusing himself from bridge duty for the duration, instead falling back towards his more administrative duties with the tactical section rather than involve himself in operational decision-making and execution. However, he had not done either; he had volunteered for Starfleet, sworn an oath, and accepted to do his duty... and that meant he couldn't just walk away whenever said duty was being inconvenient. But that did not mean he was entirely comfortable dealing with the situation. And while he sat there, he was wondering if someone had tampered with the scheduling to see him as officer of the watch when they were to enter the Talorian home system... However, while he mused about such things, while keeping an eye on ship functions, the turbolift door hissed open and he rose from where he typically managed the watch from in the XO's seat, preferring having access to the larger console... and not being entirely comfortable taking the center chair, especially when the Captain was aboard. "Captain," he said politely as he offered her a nod. "We are minutes away from entering the Talorian home system. I expect we will receive transit and orbit instructions fairly quickly after we drop out of warp. Do you wish to take the watch?"After all, it would not do to fail to provide his report, nor to ask if the Captain wanted to take over given she'd yet to state she was taking the conn. And while he knew his body and mind would likely require the fuel sooner rather than later, he found himself uncertain at the notion of tucking into a portion of this heavenly-sounding cheesecake, his stomach being somewhat sour from perhaps too much coffee, and the stress the current situation was bringing on.

[ Elana - Sector 1A, Arrivals, Prime Camp, Talor Prime] It hadn't taken very long for Elana to reach the edges of the camp, glad that she had forgone the usual pomp and circumstance that usually came with her title. Ever since the first devastating flood, Elana had wanted to be seen as the normal village girl as opposed to the Princess that she had become in the last few months. Besides ensuring that her voice was heard when it came to getting their people help. Elana saw no point in wearing fancy garments, not when so many had lost everything. As she neared the camp, Elana smiled as she saw a group of children playing happily in the sand. Marvelling in their innocence as she stopped to talk to the adults watching over them whilst her guards kept at a distance. That was a compromise that she was willing to take, seeing no point in arguing as she walked through the camp, towards the arrival pad. Smiling once more as she spotted Kaela and approached the scientist. " Greetings Kaela, I hope this morning finds you well".Tag Charlie Fox

Miren had finished his assigned duties in the science department and volunteered to help medical. While it was far from his field of expertise, it was simple enough to pack like-with-like in a crate, and make sure it was properly labeled. As the final one was sealed, labeled and stacked, he gave a nod of acknowledgement to Dr. Baker. "Aye, ma'am." He responded simply, and put in the requested call to Ops. The site to site transporter whirred, and the pile of crates vanished in the familiar blue lights. An hour was more than enough time for the Trill science officer to grab his pack from the lab and get to the designated transporter room. Though that didn't mean he had time to do much else. So as the Commander left Sickbay, he followed a moment later, turning the opposite way in the corridor to head back to his own department. He would double-check that there was nothing else Commander Quinn needed him to do before departure, and triple check his pack to make sure everything he might need was in it. That should take up enough time for him to not be unreasonably early...

Tag Judith Eastman Jovireh Velal Richard J. Litt Joshua Niles Ozu Saya Charlie Fox Isaiah Quinn[ Left Ear to-Ennien - Sickbay - Deck 7] Left Ear had volunteered for this mission not only because extra doctors would always be needed in a disaster, but she'd actually helped once with flood relief when a Sivaoan camp near a river was destroyed in a massive flash flood. She'd thrown herself willingly into helping with preparations, and studied everything available on Talorian physiology in between. Since she didn't know any of the others well, besides Dr. Baker, Left Ear quietly left when the XO did, not being in her usual friendly mood. The Sivaoan returned to her quarters, to do as Thea had suggested and get her gear together. Left Ear had been using a cross-body satchel when she'd joined the Starfleet officers on a mission, but she'd found that it flopped around and left a lot of potential to damage or lose her equipment. Instead, she'd designed a sort of harness that fastened around her body and over her narrow shoulders. There were clips on the bottom of each side that allowed her to carry a variety of different pouches or containers, but in this case she had two good-sized bags that held a med-kit each, water pouches, food rations and several usefuls. On the right shoulder strap was a holster for her medical scanner; the other was prepared for a holstered knife, but Left Ear wanted to make sure it was okay for her to carry the weapon before she fastened it. It was a tool as much as a weapon, but the Sivaoan wasn't sure that the Starfleet officers would see it the same way. The greatest benefit to the harness was that it kept everything tight to her body and secure however she moved. With the help of the other Sivaoans, they'd designed it so everything would stay put whether she was on two or four legs, walking, sprinting, or even climbing. Left Ear was too nervous to wait around her quarters, so she started making her way as slowly as possible to the transporter room.

[Bridge - USS Mac] Satisfied that everything was as ready as it should be, Thea entered a waiting turbolift and called for her next destination. Letting the brief journey become a time of reflection and to gather her thoughts before she reached her next destination. Whilst her primary role was to act as XO, it wouldn't stop her from getting her hands dirty when it came to assisting with any medical needs or handing out supplies. Whilst this wasn't exactly the ideal situation to see the Talorian homeworld, it would definitely give them a better insight into their practices without the constraints that had held them back so far. Perhaps this would be the end of any further hostilities but of course this was all speculation for the moment. Any hope she might have would remain hidden until they arrived and saw the situation for themselves. As the lift came to a stop and the doors opened, it wasn't difficult to spot Judy, Mabel and the latest confection in the form of cheesecake. With their arrival imminent, Thea didn't think it was the ideal time for cake in any form. However should anyone decide to partake in the sweet treat then she wouldn't stop them, nor did she want them to eat it too quickly and regret it. " The rest of the medical supplies are ready and have been taken to the cargo bay to be beamed down with the others" Thea began as she crossed over to the command area. Seeing no point in taking her seat, the XO continued. " I've already gave the order to the medical team and those who assisted in Sickbay, to be in the transporter room within the hour, rather than have everyone rush".Given the situation, Thea wanted to be prepared and as organised as she could be and for everyone to be ready to go as soon as they arrived.

Whilst Thea was talking to the Captain, Ops and Tactical would receive an incoming message from Talor Prime. Included in this message was the coordinates they would need for beam down. Confirmation would reveal them to be an arrivals pad, just inside the city as well as the additional news that there would be a welcoming committee waiting for them.

[Kaela - Sector 1A, Arrivals, Prime Camp, Talor City]The young Talorian scientist could not help but stiffen as Elana approached. Despite who her father was, she'd never achieved his easy comfort when in elevated company, and so that alone would have made her uncomfortable. Add to that her suspicion with regard to the circumstances surrounding his death, and the multiple players involved and accused, well, suffice it to say that had she been given the choice, she would not want to be standing there with the new Princess. "Greetings, Princess Elana," she managed a bow, she was a good citizen after all, but found herself unable to look upon the other female. Her shoulders remained stiff and her eyes darted back to stare at a nearby technician as though he was the most interesting sight in the city. She attempted to distract herself by running through the figures and stats that the Federationers would likely request as soon as they landed. Her lips moved silently as she mouthed multiple reports. [ Elana - Sector 1A, Arrivals, Prime Camp, Talor City] It wasn't difficult to notice how the scientist's body language immediately changed, the moment that Elana had greeted her. Not to mention how she seemed to become distracted and look away from her, after returning Elana's greeting. Kaela wasn't the first person to act that way around her and sometimes Elana hated what she had become, wishing that they could see past her title and treat her like she was normal. However it wasn't that simple, especially as Elana suspected that Kaela would rather be somewhere else right now. Not that Elana blamed her, considering what had happened to her Father. Even though she wasn't directly involved with his murder, Elana could see why someone would think that she was and again hated her position and the evil that surrounded it. At the same time and with Kaela focusing on distracting herself. Elana spoke once more, after deciding on a different approach. " Please call me Elana, given the circumstances that we're now in and I won't keep you from your work. If you would like to tell me about it, I'll be over here awaiting our guests".Giving Kaela a choice was the right thing to do and hoped that she wouldn't see her as the enemy. With one final look and a friendly smile, Elana moved further onto the Arrivals pad to await the Mac's arrival.

[Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Science Lab, USS Mac ] Quinn stepped out of his office, his eyes glued to the PADD he held in his hand. The inventory of equipment to be used had already been sent to the Cargo Bay, and the members of the team had been assigned. So, what was held his attention so deeply: researching the Talorian data banks that had been shared with him. He'd spent the better part of the trip here examining everything he could about the planet for a hint of what could be responsible for the floods: aggravated weather patterns, global warming, some sort of celestial event like solar flares... The problem was, none of those could be ruled out completely, and the Talorians hadn't been helpful in pointing to any particular one possibility. In fact, a few of the teleconferences he'd had enroute had been rather brief. It was obvious that some of the Talorians were still reluctant to except their help. And it wasn't necessarily Starfleet's help, but that of the Mac. Considering what had happened during their last encounter with the Talorians, one would think that a little distance would be warranted. Yet, the Mac was closest and best-equipped vessel in the planet's vicinity. In essence, everyone had to get over their feelings and do what was necessary for the planet's sake, as well as all those people. Quinn set the PADD down after transferring the images he'd been looking at onto a larger screen. His arms folded in front of his chest as he examined the weather chart. His head turned away from the screen as he heard Lt. Miren enter the lab. "How'd things go down in Sickbay?" Isaiah asked, not that he expected to hear anything less than well. His eyes drifted back towards the screen.

[Ensing Richard J. Litt - Helm, Bridge, USS Mac]Litt had a smile on his face, but that smile was actually more of a disguise than real animation. It was the first time that Litt was taking a large ship on a real mission. Until then, all he had done was simulated flights. "That's it, Litt, now it's for real, let's try not to screw it up." He thought to himself as he piloted the ship, super concentrated. He came to his senses when Captain Judith asked him to remove the warp ship and reduce it to a quarter of an impulse. “Aye ma'am, taking out the warp in 3… 2… 1…” He did a quick countdown and left the warp, reducing the ship to a quarter of an impulse. "We are in a Ma'am impulse room." He said and returned to paying attention to his panels as he continued to fly.

[ LT Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ]For a brief moment, Niles found himself actually fearing that he would be expected to keep the watch. After all there was no obligation for his superiors to take the conn if they were up on the Bridge unless it was their watch; and, truth be told, if they just wanted to sit in the middle chair and do paperwork while technically on watch, they could pass it on to others. But, when the Captain accepted his invitation, it took all of his willpower not to let out a sigh of relief, but he could not school his face enough to actually conceal just how much he appreciated her doing so. The Talorians probably still had a bone to pick with him for 'murdering' their princess, and he certainly resented the accusations of murder levied against him and the whole crew of the Mac; and that was even before going into the matter of the Jupiter Star and how they'd never so much as acknowledged one of their leaders had actually led a crew that butchered Federation civilian spacers on their own ship. "Aye Captain, you have the conn," he acknowledged before stepping away from his favoured spot in the XO's seat and back towards his station at Tactical One where he relieved one Ensign Lynch and he quickly reconfigured the console to the layout that was most efficient for him. And, frankly, it was a good thing he had been relieved for Commander Baker arrived on the Bridge, which would have made the center chairs a little crowded, and would have made him relocate one way or another. And, not long afterwards, the Captain ordered them to drop out of warp and the helmsman, one Ensign Litt with whom Niles was not entirely familiar beyond being officer of the watch while he had the helm, took the Mac out of warp and back into normal space. And, just as he expected, his instruments were quick to report that their transponder had been queried, and that they were on the receiving end of the Talorians' active sensors. However, not seeing anything that resembled a weapons lock, he simply acknowledged the warning on his board, and then a light started blinking, indicating a written message, which he opened. However, he did not send anything out yet, but instead simply reported the contact. "Captain, the Talorians have acknowledged our arrival in system and sent us some instructions. We have routing and orbit directives, beam-down coordinates for our relief efforts, and it looks like there will be a reception committee for the ground component's leadership. Forwarding the whole package to your station and Commander Baker's, and respective instructions to Ops and the Helm, pending your orders."Tag Judith Eastman, Thea Baker, Richard J. Litt
