[Primary L'Sho - Temporary Primary Command, Sector 1A, Prime Camp]Primary L'Sho gave orders in a clear, but quiet voice. His people moved like the disciplined, well-oiled machine that they were, and he stood front and centre as he directed. His commandeering of the Operations shelter in Prime Camp hadn't just been symbolic, or intended to flex muscles, it also served a very important purpose. He would have to direct his people and run the rescue efforts from somewhere safe, and for that he'd need space. As far as he was concerned, his interests trumped whatever toys and rhetoric the Federation intruders were bringing. He turned glowing eyes toward Captain Judy Eastman as she approached, introduced herself, and then figuratively put her hand out. Of course, L'Sho understood what the human was doing, and while he'd at least give the appearance of playing ball, he felt quite unable to let the request pass without taking an opportunity to one-up the people who had left him in a prison cell for five weeks. "Has Commodore Perry finally admitted defeat and retired?" He asked, his tone bored, though the corners of his mouth tweaked upward. The Commodore had been an idiot, but an idiot L'Sho knew how to handle. He know very little about this replacement, other than the fact that she did not often stray far from the safety of their space station. L'Sho gestured toward his men, who worked efficiently to set up a rig that looked like some kind of broadcasting apparatus. "As you can no doubt see, Captain Judy Eastman," he began, pontificating a little as he regarded her "spectacles" with a raised brow, "My men also have a lot of equipment. We are in the middle of a planetary crisis. My people are dying."He paused for a moment and raised a hand to summon a nearby officer, medals affixed to his chest glistening with the movement. "I am aware of your species physical shortcomings, however, and in the interest of cooperation, I can spare my trusted lieutenant. T'Rok, please provide the Captain with whatever assistance she requires."[ LT Joshua Niles - Arrivals pad -> Prime Camp, Talor City]Freezing rain. There never was a more wretched, more miserable form of precipitation, and it was over already waterlogged hair that he pulled up his coat's hood. And just doing that made a thin sheet of ice fall off the advanced fabric, even as his breath puffed out of his mouth. So not only was this going to be disaster relief, it was going to be disaster relief in thoroughly unpleasant weather. However, the Away Team did not spend too long under those conditions before getting ushered into a large tent that was clearly set up as a field command post. The ground was a right mess, but at least it was weather-tight and marginally warmer than the air outside. Though, when he pulled down his hood, getting the lay of the land as he looked around, he caught sight of their Sivaoan guest, and he brought a fist to his lips and coughed a few times as to mask his chuckle. There was, frankly, something truly amusing to seeing Left-Ear to be so... poofy. But that mirth, brief as it was, was replaced by a cold weight setting into the pit of his stomach when Primary L'Sho arrived. That man, Niles did not like at all. In fact, it might even be fair to say he thoroughly despised him. However, this was hardly the time to air out his grievances, not when the weather was going to be turning worse in the near future, and refugees would become a serious concern on a planetary scale before long. And to think that at the point in time, in the presence of someone he knew was hostile to the Federation, he was the only security presence with this particular landing party. I should have insisted on a full detail, he found himself thinking. But, he knew he would still have been rejected. This was, after all, a disaster relief mission. And given he had been assigned no particular tasks thus far, he did what he was supposedly qualified to do (although only marginally), and stood at the Captain's shoulder... and tried not to glare at the Primary. Ozu Saya [ Thea - Sector 1A Shelter, Prime Camp, Talor City] Seeing L'Sho already at work when she entered the shelter, behind Judy and the others, did little to make Thea think that this was going to be easy. Although once Judy was able to see again and spoke to her, she was right and the mission came first regardless of the awkwardness. " Agreed and good luck" she replied, knowing that this would be a first for both Judy and L'Sho. Of course she couldn't tell how the introductions would go as she noticed Niles standing within distance. Immediately wondering if him being this close would interfere with the mission as he wasn't exactly L'Sho's biggest fan. However hoped that he would remain professional despite his personal feelings. Luckily for them, there was a silver lining amongst all of this darkness as the Talorian scientist answered Isaiah's questions. An idea then began to form in the XO's mind as Kaela offered work stations for Isaiah and Miren. "If it's okay with our hosts and you Captain. I'd like to take Left Ear and help out with triage of any injured, whilst Mr Niles helps on this side of the camp with incoming evacuees".If they agreed then it would give the others something to do whilst the scientist's worked on stopping this disaster. [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Shelter, Sector 1A, Prime Camp, Talor City]L'Sho had to assert his dominance some more, but this was all to be expected. Especially in this moment, with his people needing Federation help, he surely felt weak and threatened, probably not unlike what his stint on Argus Major felt like. "Thank you, Primary. I appreciate the help. We are, after all, on the same team here."Whether she truly believed they were on the same team, or just wished it were so, was very open to interpretation. She turned her head to Thea next. "Yes, let's," she accepted the suggestion, and then approached the group of scientists, motioning for T'Rok to come with. "Gentlemen, this is T'Rok, Primary L'Sho's aide, who's been so graciously assigned to help us handle our equipment," she explained, to Isaiah and the Lieutenant she didn't immediately recognize. She also acknowledged the Talorian who was with them, with a nod. She had half a mind to stand around with them and contribute her own expertise.

[Prime Camp, Talor City] The rain grew colder and lashed against the city, the droplets sounding as though the ancient gods were beating the sacrificial drums. For those who still believed in the old ways and still mourned the loss of Orya, began to seek out one another. Gathering just outside the camp and away from those who welcomed and saw the Bataq's as their saviours. They knew it was dangerous to meet without the protection of their temples and Kohr'don. However if Talor was to survive this wrath, they had to rely on one another and perform one last ritual. Of course Kohr'don wasn't their only holy man, as they summoned the Sisters of K'fra. Letting the anger of the gods wash over them as they began to chant. Their voices drowned out as the wind joined the rain. [ Thea - Sector 1A Shelter, Prime Camp, Talor City] Seeing L'Sho already at work when she entered the shelter, behind Judy and the others, did little to make Thea think that this was going to be easy. Tag all [ Left Ear to-Ennien - Sector 1A-Arrivals-Prime Camp-Talor City] Left Ear's ears twitched back as she heard movement and chanting from outside before the rain all but drowned it out. Since she didn't understand the language, she didn't worry about it. She inhaled deeply, opening her mouth slightly as she tried to learn the unique scents of the Talorians while she reached into one of her bags and pulled free a swathe of dark blue fabric with grey and green designs on it. The Sivaoan wrapped the useful around her and tied it at her neck like a cloak. The warm fabric would help keep her warm and dry her fur more quickly than leaving it exposed to the moist air. Left Ear heard Thea mention her and triage to the captain and moved closer to the doctor, assuming that they would be given permission since that was the reason the doctors were there. ---------- Tag Thea Baker and Judith Eastman

[Prime Camp - Talor City]
The chanting continued, yet their voices remained as one whilst the gods grew more angry. They knew that they deserved this punishment but never faltered. This had to be done no matter what the cost if it meant that Talor could prosper once more. The Primary Sister, L'Shaya brought forward the chalice of belief, whilst her second set down the sacrificial chest. L'Shaya then looked forward and caught sight of Kohr'don and nodded. Of course she would of liked him to be closer but alas this was the way it had to be.
Bending down to open the chest, L'Shaya whispered a separate prayer, her voice filled with the power of the ancients as she took out the freshly harvested heart. Knowing how risky it was, the beast had been sacrificed prior to their arrival. However that wouldn't interfere with the act that needed to be performed in order for the ritual to succeed.
Using the silver and blue jewelled dagger that she always carried, L'Shaya cut the first slice as the chalice filled with ritual wine was passed around the group. Then she ate the slice of heart, the blood spilling onto her robes as tradition dictated.

[Primary L'Sho - Temporary Primary Command, Sector 1A, Prime Camp]"Are we, indeed?" L'Sho asked the Captain when she claimed to be on the same team. The Primary had encountered the Federation on multiple occasions, and not once had they been "on the same team". He said nothing else; there was no point really, she'd removed herself from the conversation without so much as a nod. It was something L'Sho himself would have done. His eyes rested on the officer at her shoulder, though he allowed no recognition to show in his expression. As soon as the Captain had moved away to speak to one of the faithless scientists from the Council, his own people started moving in, seemingly eager to impart updates. "Primary, sir, there is a demonstration outside the gate. It's the Sisters of K'fra."
"Supreme Commander. We are receiving reports of unrest and violence throughout the city. Evacuation routes are being blocked."And so the reports came, one after another. L'Sho fixed another stare upon the Lt. Niles. "You," he addressed him, pointing in his direction with one hand and taking a report with the other, "What is your function?"
Tag: Judith Eastman (exit), Joshua Niles *** [Lt. JG Cerjess Miren - Talor Prime - Talor City]Isaiah's answer was both reassuring and concerning. Cerjess furrowed his brow in thought as he began to put his jacket on, shuffling his kit from shoulder to shoulder. He was about to follow the Captain to the tent, when he felt a nudge and saw Isaiah approaching one of the other Talorians that had greeted them. Following him instead, he remained quiet, nodding as he was introduced to the woman. At least the coastal regions were already evacuated... Those would be hit the hardest first. "Can you tell me what the changes in the weather have been?" Were these storms larger than the planet was used to? Were they coming more frequently, or in unusual patterns? While that information alone wouldn't give them the answers, it would definitely give him a place to start his search. They entered the tent, where a Talorian military commander seemed unaware of the space they would need. But it appeared Captain Eastman was already addressing him, so Cerjess followed Kaela to the smaller tables the military didn't seem interested in. He set his kit down and glanced over at her. "If possible, I'll also need a flat stretch of ground with a clear view of the sky. Is there somewhere like that nearby?" The hard part in most cities was finding a stretch of flat ground that hadn't been built on, paved over, or planted in. [Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Sector 1A Shelter, Prime Camp, Talor City] Isaiah listened as Kaela introduced herself. She had been appointed as a liaison by the Council of Scholars, but from what he could see she was far more open-minded than they had proven to be. She brought both him and Cerjess up to speed about the evacuations. It did sound at least as if efforts had been made to relocate people, and even sounded as if a number of them could wind up where they were. Kaela then went on to point out some workstations that had been reserved for them. Or at least, what hadn't been claimed by L'Sho's soldiers. "Thank you," Isaiah answered, "please, call me, Quinn." The science officer thought it would be less intimidating to continue without the use of his rank. At least it could potentially be perceived as putting them on equal footing, by pushing aside the use of his rank. Cerjess then asked about the specific changes in the weather from the typical norm. It was wise of the Trill to establish a baseline from a willing and seemingly credible source. "And are there any prominent theories of the cause. Many of the manuscripts that were shared with us previously avoided drawing such conclusions."Cerjess also asked about a patch of land that hadn't been disturbed, seemingly so they could collect data of their own. He hoped there wouldn't be much of an objection. Yet, as Isaiah looked out, he noticed a small gathering of Talorians, including some that appeared to be speaking in unison. "Who are they?" [Kaela - Sector 1A Shelter, Prime Camp, Talor City]Nervous in diplomatic settings Kaela might be, but she was well within her comfort zone having questions of a practical nature fired at her. She nodded in response to the man's urge that she called him Quinn. She liked that - quicker, less fussy. "The ice-rain events themselves are not entirely unusual, but their locations and frequencies absolutely are. In a cold season, on the other side of this continent, they might get one, short shower in a day-cycle. Now we are seeing several in an hour." She turned toward one of the consoles and with a few taps, brought up a holographic display of Talor Prime. With another tap, she overlaid the storm systems, so that the guests could get a good idea of how much, or how little, they had been tracking. The arrival of the foreign Captain threatened to knock her off-balance somewhat, but she rallied. This was far too important for nerves of this kind. "I believe these storms were caused by planet shakes. There is evidence of massive tectonic shift here," she paused very briefly while revealing her theory to add a graphic to the large expanse of ocean between the two major continents of the planet, "And a smaller one, but with devastating after-effects, here, in the East Mountains. These incidents must be related, Quinn." She blinked a few times, and then glanced quickly at T'Rok, who was shadowing the Captain. There was only so much she could say in front of him without being branded a heretic. "No theories will be released to the public yet, not until the Council can find a way to explain what is happening that will be acceptable to both our Elders and our Scholars."She returned her attention to Lt. Miren, who had a different set of needs to the others. "There is a plaza nearby, it is a place for meeting friends, or enjoying the sunshine, with open space. This area has been evacuated of most civilians, so I believe it should serve your purposes."The chants grew louder, stronger. Elder Kohr'don was approaching the crowd gathering, and it seemed the people of the USS Mac were curious, too. "They are the Sisters of K'fra," she explained, frowning ever so slightly at the sight of the ritual. It deepened when the heart was presented for consumption. "They chant for guidance. For answers, they make a sacrifice they believe will make them strong enough to receive it."

[ Elana - Prime Camp, Talor City] Whilst it had been important for Elana to be here when the Federationers arrived and to assist where possible, it seemed as though there was little that the Princess could do. L'Sho was clearly in charge and she wasn't about to interfere with his ego as they couldn't be seen clashing and arguing, at least not in present company. Not to mention what was going on outside as the ice rain continued to lash against her home. With everyone making plans and talking as to how they could deal with the terrors that had plagued Talor. Elana became curious when Kohr'don left the shelter and the Sisters of K'fra could be heard performing one of their rituals. So she followed him quietly to witness it for herself. After all she was a representative of the old ways and stood fascinated by what she was seeing as the rain soaked her skin. " May the gods recognise the sacrifice" she murmured softly, knowing that L'Sho wouldn't miss her presence. Not that she would be gone for long, before going to help in the camp.

{Quoted Posts} [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Sector A1, Arrivals, Prime Camp, Talor City]L'Sho's display was less offensive in the low-res rendering of Judy's unbespectacled eyes, but still enough to get across the assertion of dominance, and all the insecurity that had to stand behind it. "Thank you," she said to the more helpful Talorians. "Let's head in."L'Sho would just have to share. As she entered the shelter, Judy wiped down her glasses with a cloth and then put them on. What she saw was hardly a relief. It sure seemed like L'Sho wanted his ego stroked in return for floor space. "I think we can just set up shop, Number One," the Captain said to her First Officer. "But I'll see if I can get us some extra hands."The Captain had a plan, to play on L'Sho's ego, and at least test his intentions: whether he meant to take credit for saving the day, or to set them up for failure and pick up the pieces. After taking off the hood of her coat, revealing her mostly dry, blonde[fn]dyed, at her age[/fn] hair, she approached the Talorian, checking her own ego as well as her moral judgement of him. "Primary L'Sho, I'm Captain Judy Eastman. I've looked forward to meeting you," she introduced herself. Having not engaged with the Talorian issue before, the newish Captain was still an unknown quantity for them. "My people have a lot of equipment to set up, and I was hoping yours could help us out?"A simple request of help, allowing the Primary to come off as the magnanimous savior, was surely as compelling as anything could be. [ Left Ear to-Ennien - Sector 1A-Arrivals-Prime Camp-Talor City] Left Ear hunched and followed the others to the covered encampment. She wanted to shake the water from her fur, but this close to the group, it would mean showering them all with even more water. She was surprisingly comforted by the tent they were being led toward. It wasn't anything like the structures they built on Sivao, but it was more familiar to her than the sterility of the ship or station. Left Ear let all the others go in ahead of her, then shook herself hard, sending water flying everywhere, before stepping quickly inside before she could get soaked again. Her fur stood on end all over her body, which she hated, but it would help keep her warmer as she dried. Left Ear would prefer to lick it all back into place, but this wasn't the appropriate time or place to worry about it. She'd just deal with the odd looks and sniggers; helping these people was more important. [Prime Camp, Talor City] The rain grew colder and lashed against the city, the droplets sounding as though the ancient gods were beating the sacrificial drums. For those who still believed in the old ways and still mourned the loss of Orya, began to seek out one another. [Kaela - Sector 1A Shelter, Prime Camp, Talor City]She loosed the breath she'd been nervously holding when the officials seemed to approve of her suggestion to seek the shelter. Kaela continued to feel out of her depth, and she would seek some comfort in her work as much as possible. Thus, when an officer approached her with very specific questions, she found herself able to relax a little more, despite the frozen rain pinging around them as they walked. "I am Kaela. I have been asked to liaise with you on behalf of Talor's Council of Scholars," she explained to them both, keen to get the necessary introductions out of the way so they could get down to business. She recognised Lt. Commander Quinn's name immediately from her father's last logs on the Mac, though she was unfamiliar with his colleague, Lt. Miren. "All of the coastal regions in Malari Province have already been evacuated, though there were heavy losses before the warnings were taken seriously." She delivered her report without much emotional inflection, but deep inside her grief grew. "Just before your arrival the order to evacuate all of Talor Prime's satellite towns and cities along this stretch of coast was issued. I have been informed that the plan is to direct the people in the most vulnerable locations further inland, but I suspect that many will try to make their way here, to Prime Camp."As she moved aside to allow the two scientists to precede her, she added with an unmistakable tone this time, "I suspect that is why he is here." She inclined her head in Primary L'Sho's direction, then stepped inside. She gestured toward a number of consoles, already set up. "I have some free workstations here for your people, Lt. Commander Quinn, Lt. Miren, should you need them."

She also acknowledged the Talorian who was with them, with a nod. She had half a mind to stand around with them and contribute her own expertise.
Niles. "You," he addressed him, pointing in his direction with one hand and taking a report with the other, "What is your function?" [ LT Joshua Niles Prime Camp, Talor City]The nature of one Joshua Niles' expertise was such that he could not just really volunteer it. A foreign tactical officer requesting access to sensor networks, tracking systems, communications grids and personnel management systems was generally not something most governments considered lightly. That, and he could also not volunteer too much of the Mac's own capabilities without breaching any security and secrecy regulations he as to abide by. Which meant that until and unless his particular input would be requested, say through Captain Eastman volunteering his services for a task within his sphere of expertise, he was really just an armed bump on a log for the time being. But that did not stop him from watching, and listening. He could see the tracking station from which the evacuation traffic was being monitored, and he certainly could hear how there was some sort of unrest going on, involving some form of religious group if he had to guess. And things were getting ugly all right. But then again, whenever disaster struck, unrest very often followed. And it looked like Talor was no different than so many other worlds. But, as it was a matter of internal Talorian security, there was little he could do, save one thing, and he tapped his commbadge. =A= "All deployed Security details, this is Lieutenant Niles. Be aware there is a degree of unrest among the Talorian population. Rules of engagement remain strictly self-defence for the time being; don't pick fights, but don't take any chances either. Niles out."=A= For now, that heads-up was all he could really provide. The other Away Teams all had their own Security details that would see they would be kept safe, but they might not have the same kind of access to information. And it would not do to let the other teams get surprised by those events if he had a way to prevent it. That was until the Primary pointed at him and demanded to know his purpose, and sounded none too pleased about it. "Lieutenant Niles, Tactical Officer," he replied briskly. "I am here to provide security for this particular landing party, and my expertise whatever way your people may require within the bounds of my orders, and whatever other tasks Captain Eastman may have for me, Sir."
Of course, one Niles remained courteous in his tone and wording for he was a Starfleet officer first and foremost, and duty often meant stepping on his personal feelings. Through considerable effort, he managed to keep his expression as neutral as could be, but there could be no hiding his icily correct tone even in the face of being snapped at. In fact, that part was actually the easiest portion, for his Academy days were still close enough behind him that he could remember dealing with getting thoroughly reamed by his instructors and having to take it in stride...

[ Thea - Shelter, Primary Camp, Talor City] The outcome of Judy's introduction to L'Sho could of been a lot worse, Thea thought as the Captain acknowledged her suggestion to keep the non scientists occupied. Nodding in response as Judy moved off to speak to Kaela, Isaiah and Miren alongside one of L'Sho's men. As Left Ear moved closer and the Princess followed the Elder. Thea was about to speak to Niles when the security officer took the initiative regarding the updates that were received by the Supreme Commander. That certainly saved Judy or Thea from giving him that order and as L'Sho approached him directly, decided that he could handle whatever the Talorian Leader asked of him. Turning to Left Ear, Thea spoke quietly to the Healer. " The medical supplies should already be here, we'll get the Princess to help and then we can make our way into the camp itself" she instructed as she put up her hood and led the way back into the icy rain. Upon seeing what was happening and Elana observing whatever ritual this was. Thea tried to force the memory of the Jupiter Star from resurfacing as she waited for Left Ear to join her so they could go over to the Princess.

In fact, that part was actually the easiest portion, for his Academy days were still close enough behind him that he could remember dealing with getting thoroughly reamed by his instructors and having to take it in stride... [Primary L'Sho - Temporary Primary Command, Sector 1A, Prime Camp]Primary L'Sho liked concise answers from his inferiors. Lt. Niles used many words, when the Primary only wanted one: Tactical. The Talorian had a memory like a steel-trap, and he knew that the tactical officer was a suspected accomplice of Charlie Fox's. Before L'Sho had been unlawfully imprisoned on Argus Major, he had considered having the man investigated for collusion. He cast that aside for the moment, however, as there were greater things that required his attention. Besides, it was better to have this icy human close by, where he and his men could keep an eye on him. If Niles' orders to his men were anything to go by, they would need to ensure that he understood that any harm befalling the Talorian people at the hands of the Federationers, would result in a little imprisonment of their own. "It does not appear that your Captain Eastman has any tasks for you, at all." His glowing eyes rested on the older human, who had joined the scientists in discussion. He snapped his attention back to Niles. "You may assist my people with the organisation of evacuation.""We are ready to go live, Primary. Shall I summon the Princess?"L'Sho angled his body away from Niles and studied the broadcasting apparatus. "The Princess is busy following Kohr'don around like a lost infant sroc. A shame, as I am sure her words would comfort our people.""Then who will address them, Primary?""I suppose I must carry this responsibility." Like he hadn't planned it from the very beginning, L'Sho straightened his perfect uniform and stepped into the view of the recorder.

{Quoted Posts} [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Shelter, Sector 1A, Prime Camp, Talor City][...] "Gentlemen, this is T'Rok, Primary L'Sho's aide, who's been so graciously assigned to help us handle our equipment," she explained, to Isaiah and the Lieutenant she didn't immediately recognize. She also acknowledged the Talorian who was with them, with a nod. She had half a mind to stand around with them and contribute her own expertise. [Prime Camp - Talor City] The chanting continued, yet their voices remained as one whilst the gods grew more angry. [Kaela - Sector 1A Shelter, Prime Camp, Talor City]Nervous in diplomatic settings Kaela might be, but she was well within her comfort zone having questions of a practical nature fired at her. For answers, they make a sacrifice they believe will make them strong enough to receive it." [ Elana - Prime Camp, Talor City] Whilst it had been important for Elana to be here when the Federationers arrived and to assist where possible, it seemed as though there was little that the Princess could do. [Lt. JG Cerjess Miren - Talor Prime - Talor City]The changes in the storms Kaela described were concerning. Even more so when she confirmed his fears about the tectonic activity. He would need to set up his equipment before he could further expand on his developing theory, so for the meantime he remained silent. At least, until she offered a plaza for him to use. "That sounds perfect, thank you," he replied. The Captain approached with another Talorian, clearly part of the military presence, and he nodded in acknowledgment. "Have our equipment crates been beamed down yet?" He asked. The sooner he could set up the pylons in the plaza, the sooner he could rule out possible causes. [Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Sector 1A Shelter, Prime Camp, Talor City] For the first time, Quinn began to feel as if he was actually making progress as he listened to Kaela. The intensity in these ice-rains wasn't the only thing that had changed. It seemed that the frequency had as well. Kaela then mentioned tectonic shifts and a possible relation between them. Isaiah had been about to inquire further along those lines, but it was around that time that the Captain approached with another Talorian in tow. His presence seemed to have some sort of effect on Kaela. Perhaps she wasn't as comfortable sharing as much in his presence. Essentially, it seemed that the powers at be needed to sign off on any official theories. Yet, Kaela seemed to feel that the connection between the tectonic activity and the weather patterns was related. "Thank you, Kaela," he said simply. He then gave his attention to the Captain after Kaela identified a potential location that seemed to meet Cerjess' parameters. As the Captain introduced T'Rok as L'Sho's aide. That seemed to speak volumes, especially considering Kaela's reaction. Cerjess went on to ask if their equipment had been received yet from the ship. "Thank you, Captain. And you as well, T'Rok, for your assistance," said Isaiah. The science officer then turned towards Captain Eastman once more. "Captain, permission to proceed to the plaza. We just require a location to get some real-time data to compile with the rest the Talorians have shared with us."He didn't believe it was much to object to, but thought it wiser to ask permission before actually proceeding. His eyes eventually fell on to the gathered Talorians in the distance. He felt as if he recognized whatever ritual that was occurring as one of the more traditional ones. He didn't say much more about it, instead turning his attention back towards the Captain, believing it best to deal with the crisis at hand before giving way to his curiosity of the ritual and overall culture of the Talorians. He thought about Kaela's words, as she described why they performed the ritual. He only hoped that in some ways it worked: and the answers revealed themselves soon.
Tag: Syl O'Connell (Cerjess), Charlie Fox (Kaela), Judith Eastman
[NPC - Elder Kohr'don - Sector 1A, Arrivals, Prime Camp, Talor City] Kohr'don continued to stand where he was, not wishing to intrude upon the ritual itself. L'Shaya was more than competent to carry out the ritual as it should be. Besides, he still had his curiosities about the assemblage that had gathered, not only of the Federation people, but L'Sho's people as well. He had noticed that he was no longer standing alone, however. The Princess, Elena, had joined him at his side, praying with hope that the gods would recognize their sacrifice. "The gods have their plan for us already," Kohr'don answered. "May we have the strength to endure their will." His words were a slight correction to the princess. Of course, while she was no Orya, there was perhaps a sliver of hope within her. The only question was if it were possible to steer her in the direction at this hour. "Never allow what the gods have bequeath you to be squandered by others, whether those others be from without... or from within."The Elder Talorian ahd turned to look into Elena's eyes, wondering if there was a hint of the same fire that once burned within her sister. His eyes then moved towards those that were within the tent. "Which path would you have our people follow?" he asked. His eyes moved towards Captain Eastman. "Would you have them abandon all we've ever known?" His eyes then moved towards L'Sho. "Would you rather they surrender to the might of the elements" He then took a deep breath, as his eyes moved to Elena once more. "Or would you have them bear the onslaught of the elements, to falter or to be forged anew." His eyes lingered upon her for some time before he spoke again. "Not something you need to answer for me, but for yourself. Because if you do not, someone else will." His eyes moved towards L'Sho once more.

[Kaela - Sector 1A Shelter, Prime Camp, Talor City]Nervous in diplomatic settings Kaela might be, but she was well within her comfort zone having questions of a practical nature fired at her. For answers, they make a sacrifice they believe will make them strong enough to receive it." [Lt. [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Shelter, Sector 1A, Prime Camp, Talor City]Judy clasped her hands behind her back. She could pick up on the chilly reaction, though, being used to her pips acting as a buzzkill, she didn't immediately realize Kaela was reacting to T'Rok. Before she could answer anyone, she got a ping on her combadge. =A= "Captain, we've beamed down the equipment." =A= =A= "Thank you, Mabel." =A= The Captain looked between the two scientists, smiling. "Well, there we go. Let's get the equipment assembled at the plaza."Judy took a bright-red (clearly civilian) umbrella out of her backpack, pulled her hood back on, and stepped out into the rain, this time prepared enough to protect her glasses.

[ Elana - Prime Camp, Talor City] The sight of blood and the gentle flicker of the ceremonial fire danced across the Princess's eyes. Almost as if she was closer yet could feel the pull of their words, a reminder if you will of what it was like to be truly born of this world. Making Elana realise in that instant that the old ways could not be purged or forgotten as Kohr'don realised that she had joined him. His answer was wise and in that instant, Elana could hear them for what they truly were and was glad to be privy to the Elder's wisdom and guidance. Then when he turned and looked into her eyes, her breath caught in her chest, wondering if he had ever gazed so intently when facing her Sister. It felt as though he was looking into her soul, perhaps seeking the fire that should be burning within. Her quest for doing what was right casting only a small flame until the Elder decided to test her. She looked back towards those in the tent, catching sight of the two Doctors not wanting to approach just yet. Hearing Kohr'don's words as she thought about everything. Her heart sobbed for what she had become, before it began to burn with anger upon seeing L'Sho. She knew that the Primary had done this to stroke his ego, to prove that he was Talor's true leader. However she wasn't going to let him wear her down or make her doubt her true path, not anymore. " The old ways can never be extinguished or forgotten if Talor is to survive. Whilst we embrace the new, it's time to forge a different path, one that coexists with the other. My Sister's sacrifice will no longer be in vain as L'Sho will see his retribution for sullying what it is to be Talorian".Elana paused, her breath heavy and determined, her spirit no longer shy as if it had taken this betrayal to finally make her see. " Let him play his infantile game, I know where my heart lies and Elder it would give me great joy, if you would accompany me into the camp with the Bataq Doctors. We can show the people that they aren't our enemy and their Princess has not forsaken them".

[ Thea - Prime Camp] As she continued to observe the ritual taking place in front of them. Thea began to realise that the unnecessary actions taken by Orya may not of been as evil as believed. That didn't excuse what she had done nor would it bring comfort to the victims families and those who had survived. However witnessing all of this did make her wonder about how they weren't too dissimilar to those cultures who followed ancient customs and performed sacrifices, especially in Earth's own past. Being here was certainly giving Thea a better understanding of who the Talorians were and how they lived. Of course she wished that it was under better circumstances but that was something that none of them could change, at least not yet. When Left Ear joined her, Thea turned to the Healer with the feeling that the Princess and the Elder wouldn't be too long in joining them. " Let's go ahead and get started on setting up our equipment and sorting out the supplies" she instructed and began to walk towards the supplies that had been beamed down.

[Lt. JG Cerjess Miren - Talor Prime - Talor City]The Captain approved Quinn's request to move to the plaza, the equipment was beamed down, and everything else seemed to Cerjess to be just pleasantries. Fastening his jacket, he pulled the hood over his head and stepped out of the tent. The stacks of crates that hadn't been there before were quite obvious, and as he approached them he was able to see what he assumed to be the plaza Kaela directed them to. It would be a little bit of a walk, but not terrible, and they had extra hands now to help carry the crates. Adjusting his kit on his shoulder as he examined the labels on the crates, he selected the ones he would need first. Stacking the two smaller ones on top of the larger one, he carefully lifted them up and began to carry all three towards the plaza.
