[Family Quarters - Civilian Decks] The way in which Max then whispered so conspiratorially, wasn't a huge surprise to Leanna, especially when you factored in who he was married too. Her Fiancé, best friend and other close friends all worked for the Fleet, so she had a better understanding than most. Although if she was being honest, they rarely talked about work and when they did, she was always a willing listener to whatever was happening with them. With Riyo naturally there had been more and some of it had tested them but here they were a year later and going from strength to strength. Leanna also didn't doubt what Max had said either and so smiled and replied back in the same tone. " I believe you and your secret is safe with me, besides living on Front Ear isn't exactly normal".Some days it felt as though there should be a disclaimer included to anyone who was considering moving here.

[ Ens. Brad Stout / PO2 Azeen Kazeme - Front Ear - Promenade Security Office][/color] A sudden clattering of commotion coming from behind them caused both security officers to spin around, though both were too slow in reaching for their phasers and the assailant disappeared in a plume of smoke. Smoke that clogged their lungs and stung their eyes, reducing the men to coughing fits as they struggled to see their surroundings. The Petty Officer was the first to move, diving to his knees beside the fallen woman, fingers frantically searching for a pulse since the smoke wasn't letting him see her injuries. Ensign Stout reacted in an entirely different manner, gasping for breath while slapping the com badge on his chest. =A="Velal to the Security Office!"=A= His voice was strained as he fought back another cough, and he couldn't keep the panic from coming through. [SCPO Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Promenade]The Chief was doing her best to trust her team to handle the escort, and left Kova and the other hybrid to their lesson. She found an empty table not far from them and was sipping her coffee while reading the report she had been distracted from. Or at the very least, trying to read it. Her brain kept straying, wandering over the possibilities of why Hezula might be here. The sudden, panicked voice on her com badge made her jump, adrenaline instantly flooding through her as her heart started racing. =A="On my way!"=A= She replied, abandoning her mug of coffee on the table and slipping the PADD into its pouch on her belt as she stood and swiftly walked towards the turbolift to take her up to the next level.

[ Myker Vulbrix - Ops] Myker didn’t question the Captain further about Starfleet, he’d seen enough to know that it had many weaknesses and often isn’t this shining beacon of hope it plays itself out to be but at it’s core Starfleet aspires to be that and that is enough to keep the Communications officer around even if he questions the choice on a near daily basis. He had little faith in the Starfleet of now, but his faith in what Starfleet could be was firmly intact for now. ”Right if Klingon’s had the balance of a toddler and the stomach of an 80 year old human.” He noted, not entirely denying the truth of Eastman’s words but also knowing drunks were often uncoordinated at best, unless they were actually Klingon then he would be staying way out of dodge.
[ Emerson Paxton - Ops- Front Ear] ”Yes Captain” Emerson responded scratching the back of his neck as some anxiety crept in, he wasn’t even sure he could achieve that. He wasn’t a hacker and although he could code it was done to protocols and such. Hacking was far more backdoor than he was used to. He looked at the coding within Hezula’s hack, he knew what could be done but whether he could achieve it he was uncertain of. Regardless he made a start on the coding side, beyond that he wasn’t even sure it would work. The topic of conversation between the Captain and Communications officer was amusing, it wasn’t something one would expect to be discussing while they had Orion weapons locked onto the Station that housed many folks, a large number of which were civilians. ”A Klingon soap opera Ma’am?” Emerson expressed his curiosity without shifting his attention from his task but that was something of a curiosity. That Captain Eastman was familiar with Klingon Soap operas. Emerson hardly was. [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD - Ops]"Not soap opera - just opera," Judy clarified. She began to think of how she'd phrase this particular anecdote, when a better idea came to mind. "If you can get access to their weapons array in... 10 minutes, I'll tell you the story behind that."She glanced at her wristwatch, a sign she was serious.

[NPC - Max Williams - Family Quarters]"This place is one of a kind," Max agreed, having seen a great many different places in his life. "If we wanted normal, we'd be on our way back to Earth."Perhaps it was due to his own upbringing, journeying on his parents' ship, that Max had a love for the mysteries of living in more remote places like this one. He'd enjoyed Earth, sure, but he was in no hurry to move back there.

Tag Myker Vulbrix [ Ensign Emerson Paxton - Ops - Front Ear] Emerson didn't really know the difference, he didn't do opera, soap operas or Klingons for that matter. He shrugged, providing the Captain a response to her clarification with a simple, "Right". He was still curious. He was studying the code when the Captain provided him with some incentive, to which his first reaction was to look at one of the others in the room. They proved to be as useful as the walls surrounding them. Emerson mentally cursed his own existence at that moment, he couldn't achieve that? He couldn't do that and certainly not under pressure with Captain Judy Eastman right there? He was just the glorified IT guy. "Surely...there's someone with sharper skills that could get there in half the time?" he questioned. It did occur to him they may not have the time to find someone. He looked between the Captain and the Betazoid before finally nodding. "I'll try." he said quietly a moment later. Whether her story would be incentive enough to have him gain access would be something else. The fact that he didn't believe he could achieve what was needed in the time frame made him anxious. He wiped his palms on the seat of his trousers, a deep frown settling on his features as he tried to achieve what had been asked of him. Judith Eastman

[ Thea - Promenade Security Office] As Thea got nearer to the Security Office, she immediately realised that something was very wrong. The smoke obscuring her vision and panicked voices within spelled trouble, the kind that often found it's way to the station no matter the circumstances or the time of day. As whatever caused the smoke began to dissipate slightly, Thea could make out the two in gold and ... oh no this wasn't what she had expected when agreeing to meet Hezula. The Crime Boss laid prone on the floor whilst Kazeme was frantically trying to find signs of life. Eyes stinging, Thea blinked several times as she entered the office fully, attempting to get a read on the situation. " What happened?" she asked as she got down to floor level. A quick once over and Thea knew that they had to get Hezula to Sickbay asap. Thoughts turned over in her mind as she took in the severity of the wound to the back of her head, her stomach turning as to who would want to take out the Crime Boss. Hezula likely had many enemies but that still didn't condone why or how they had found her here or the fact that the residents could be in danger. " Lockdown the Promenade , we need to find who did this, especially if they're a danger to the station".Tapping her badge, Thea then made a call to Ops. =/\= Baker to Ops, we have a situation on the Promenade and it doesn't look good for Hezula. Have told Security to lockdown this area so we can investigate and find the culprit. I also need an emergency site to site for myself and Hezula to Primary Sickbay, have Dr Paawin meet me there =/\=

[Family Quarters - Civilian Decks] Max definitely had a point as he agreed with her about living on Front Ear. As nice as it had been to return home during her and Riyo's extended vacation a couple of months ago, there was just something about coming back to Front Ear that truly felt like they were home. Sure they had the vacation home on Kerelia but despite everything, Lea was in no hurry to live down on the planet full time or return to Betazed for anything more than a vacation. " It is and exactly, normal is overrated sometimes and as much as I enjoyed going back to Betazed, I have no plans to return there for good" she replied as Shadow jumped up onto the bed and settled next to her. " Apart from the move and keeping me company, how have you been Max?, how's the family?".Leanna was always interested in keeping up to date with their friends, especially with not being able to get out as much as she was used too. Even then it was usually antenatal appointments only before returning home.

"I tried no-shave November, but gave up because the hairnet is too much to deal with."The last time he'd maintained a beard for a meaningful length of time was during the war, and for about a year afterwards. It corresponded, not coincidentally, with a time when he wasn't working in a restaurant. "Other than that, Anna dumped yet another boyfriend, and we're trying to put the dogs on a diet."Despite the unusual circumstances, and the high-powered job that Judy held, the Williams household could be remarkably normal.

[Family Quarters - Civilian Decks] Leanna smiled as Max began to answer her question, happy to hear that everything was as it should be. His admission about trying no shave November and giving up, intrigued the Betazoid slightly as she had never seen her friend with a beard. Although understood his reasons, as like all of her staff he took his job seriously and above all else, she was all for them being comfortable and not restricted whilst they worked. The last thing Lea wanted was an unhappy workforce, even if she didn't mind a bit of facial hair. Which made her think of Riyo and if he would suit a beard or not. Going off topic wasn't a new thing when it came to her Imzadi and polished off another shrimp before she spoke. " Less hassle is always a good thing and you know I like you all to be comfortable at work" she replied as Max then continued. Ah to be a teenager again she thought when he mentioned Anna before revealing that they were trying to put Bridge and Tunnel on a diet. " I remember those teenage years well and good luck with putting the dogs on a diet. As much as Shadow enjoys his treats and being spoiled, we've been fortunate so far especially when he's with Jem".Her Uncle could be terrible sometimes but soon made up for it, by taking the pup on long walks around the station and when they were on Kerelia.

Tag Myker Vulbrix , Jovireh Velal , Thea Baker [ Myker Vulbrix- Ops] Myker could see the nerves rolling off the young man, it was the sort that hindered progress and so alongside the Captain’s encouragement and further orders to others, Myker looked at Judy at the mention of brownies, an almost smile gracing his features, ”Bribery, a low tech solution to a high tech problem.” He noted returning his attention to the problem at hand. The Betazoid offered some assistance of his own. He went to stand beside the Ensign noting what was on the screen. ”Code is like language, it’s just strings of symbols that connect to create an end result.” He noted as they set about working on the code. The orders were promptly followed and things set in motion to get the Orion much needed medical attention and promenade on lockdown. Emerson busied himself with the code, the task taking his full attention to the extent he didn’t really acknowledge the call coming in from Baker. It was heard but didn’t register in his mind as he finally found the solution. ”I’m in! [ Ens. Brad Stout / PO2 Azeen Kazeme - Front Ear - Promenade Security Office][/color] As the smoke began to clear, Captain Baker entered and took control of the situation. Brad was still a panicking mess. "It happened too fast! He just appeared, fired, threw the smoke grenade and disappeared again!"Thankfully Az was keeping himself together a bit more. His gaze focused on the Captain as she began to inspect the Orion's wounds. "I found a pulse, but it's faint. It looked like a disruptor." It certainly wasn't a Starfleet issue weapon, he knew that much. When the Captain made the call to Ops for an emergency transport, he backed away, looking towards the door as the Chief walked in. [SCPO Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Promenade]The moment Jovireh entered the office, she knew why Stout had sounded so panicked. Thea was already there seeing to the crime boss, so she kept her attention on her team. "Did you see where they went?" Stout shook his head, but Kazeme pointed at the grate in the floor leading to a maintenance shaft. Oh that was just wonderful... "Computer, seal off Decks Six through Ten. Authorization Velal Delta-Four-Two." There was a chirp of acknowledgement, and she continued. "Ensign, stay here and pull yourself together. Then issue a BOLO to the rest of the personnel on duty. PO, you're with me." The men nodded, and Jov opened the grate in the floor, pulling her phaser and peering down into the shaft before she entered it. Kazeme took a nervous breath before he followed, securing the grate behind him. [Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Public Clinic]It had been a quiet day in the clinic, except the confusion over the strange voice that came over the com system. Thankfully there hadn't been any patients there at the time, so Riyo hadn't needed to worry about keeping anyone calm. But it seemed his quiet day was about to get a lot busier when Captain Eastman summoned him to Sickbay for an emergency. =A="Acknowledged,"=A= he replied simply before rising from his desk and exiting the clinic.

[ Thea - Promenade Security Office] Confident with the plan of action, Thea focused on their patient as Stout answered her question. His response certainly proved the theory that Hezula had been the sole target but they still had a killer on the loose. " Thank you Ensign" she said acknowledging Stout before Kaseme confirmed that he had found a faint pulse and suggested that it was caused by a disruptor. " I concur and let's hope it's not too late" she said in agreement with the PO's assessment. When Jovireh then arrived and took charge of her team. Thea knew that they would do their very best to apprehend the culprit assuming that they didn't have a fool proof escape route. Before she could say anything esle and with the acknowledgement from Judy. Thea watched as Jovireh and Kaseme disappeared down the hatch as the emergency beam out began. ********* [Primary Sickbay] There was no time to second guess or think as the transporter beam dissipated and Hezula was quickly deposited onto the first available bio bed. Knowing that Riyo shouldn't be too long, Thea began to give instructions in order to give the Crime Boss some privacy and dignity without prying eyes. Preliminary scans were then initiated, leaving Thea momentarily stunned when the results revealed not only the severity of her injury but also that Hezula was pregnant.

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Promenade, Front Ear Station ] Instinct took over as soon as the sound of the grenade exploding was heard. Kova flipped over the table she had been sitting at and quickly dragged Zyri behind it. "Get down!" Kova quickly tried to assess the scene. It was mostly smoke, which meant this was a distraction. The faint scent of charred ozone seemed to suggest that there may have been something more concealed within the smoke. Disruptor fire? Not an exchange... a single shot. There was movement... chaotic as people seemed to be trying to flee. Out of the corner of her eye, Kova could see Zyri stretching out from behind the table. "I said get down!" Kova ordered curtly. As Kova glared at her, she could see the mixture of fear and confusion. This was something new for the hybrid... something she hadn't experienced before. The Andorian wasn't certain if it was a curse or a blessing that she had been oblivious to the concept of terror. Because naivety of the subject would get her killed. Kova managed to look just past her, in the direction Zyri had been stretching. It seemed she had been trying to reach the computer. "Don't move until I come back." The look on the youngling's face seemed even more distressed at that announcement, yet that wasn't something Kova was going to attend with right now. She moved closer to the fray. She could make out a motionless body in front of the Security office. Dozens of criticisms rummaged through her brain. Explosives... weapons... readily rampant on the promenade. Her eyes turned in the opposite direction. Would the assailant hide in plain sight? No, why take the chance? A quick exit where they could avoid additional scrutiny. A maintenance hatch. It seemed that the new Security Chief had a similar idea. Of course, if the assailant were smart, that would be only part of plan. Once out of sight... site to site transport would be the way to go. It wouldn't be shut down... not if the station were planning to use it to resuscitate the target. A sigh left the Andorian's lips. This wasn't her fight. She could only hope that Starfleet wouldn't blunder their way through this. It was then that she heard Eastman's voice on the intercom. Stating that the situation was under control. Not exactly the words that Kova would use.
[NPC - Zyri Zh'raal - Promenade, Front Ear Station ] The hybrid wasn't sure what to do. Kova had told her to stay put, but every instinct was screaming for her to run. She could hear her own heartbeat thudding in her ears. Her finger was gripping the table so tightly, that her knuckles were a stark white. Her eyes were wide as adrenaline coursed through her veins. She kept trying to take in air, but it never seemed to be enough. Her lips moved, but she couldn't be certain that any sound was coming out. Kova... where was Kova? It was as if her world had been surrounded by silence, yet that was deafened by the loud, quickening thudding that seemed to be getting faster and faster.
