[Staz Volkova - Front Ear - The Spotty Alibi]Staz was halfway through pouring the conglomerate of liquors into the mixer when she glanced up to see the hooded patron walking out. Without paying. Well that was just rude. Sighing in frustration, she looked down at the cocktail and decided she might as well finish making it. As she was pouring it into a tall glass, a commotion from the center of the Promenade caught her eye. The Security Chief was making a swift exit, and there appeared to be smoke coming from the security offices. No sooner had she wondered about it, than the Captain came over the com and instructed everyone to 'stay away from the Promenade'. Well that wasn't how she wanted to end her shift. "Alright everyone, you heard the lady. We're closing up early. Come back when the drama's over." Transferring the complicated cocktail from the glass into two disposable cups, she waited for the handful of patrons to file out of the bar before she followed and secured the gate over the entrance. Her plan had been to take the cups back to her hotel room to enjoy the free drink, but she halted when she saw a young hybrid woman hiding behind a table looking absolutely petrified. She stood there for a moment, watching, torn between her desire to be not get close to anyone, and her protective nature. Wolves weren't meant to think only of themselves in times of crisis. So she wasn't very surprised when she found herself approaching the other woman. "Looks like you could use a drink," she stated simply, setting one of the cups down on the table before taking a sip from the other one in her hand. Oh that was disgusting. But it would definitely get her buzzed quick, and that was the entire point of drinking.

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Primary Sickbay]It barely took Riyo a few minutes to get from the clinic to Sickbay. The moment he walked through the doors, he could tell by the bustling staff that whatever this emergency was had everyone on edge. Someone directed him to where Thea was tending a patient, and he nodded a thanks as he made his way over to her. "What do we have?" he asked, dispensing with the usual pleasantries due to the nature of the situation.

[ Thea - Primary Sickbay] There was no denying that Hezula's unborn child was half Human as Thea continued to study the readouts for a few minutes longer. Around her, the nurses buzzed with efficiency as the prepped the Crime Boss for surgery and Thea assessed as to what they needed to do. Forming a plan of action in her mind as she heard Riyo behind her, Thea was grateful for his speed in getting here. " An Orion female, late twenties with a severe injury at the back of her head" Thea began as Hezula's vitals dipped even lower. " Security believe and I concur that it was caused by some kind of disruptor, pulse and vitals are weakening and the patient is very pregnant".Thea paused to allow Riyo a chance to catch up with the influx of information that she had just given him. " In all honesty I'm not sure that we can save her but before we can even try, I'd like you to handle the fetal transport and have the child placed in NICU".The Doctor within hated to lose a patient but Thea wasn't about to give up just yet and if things didn't work out at least they would have saved one life by doing the foetal transport. Realising that this was likely one of the reasons why Hezula had come here, didn't make Thea feel any better considering the situation that they were now in.

[NPC - Unknown - Deck 10]The assassin made their way towards their exfil point, via the Jeffries tubes. All was going swimmingly, until they came upon a force field generator on deck 10. They pulled out a phaser pistol, and shot at the bulkhead. They'd shoot their way to the nearest generator, to take out the force field.

[SCPO Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Jeffries Tubes]
Jov almost silently crept through the shaft, calling upon a form of movement she hadn't needed to use in quite some time. The Petty Officer behind her, however, made a bit more noise in the cramped space, though she couldn't hold it against him. Perhaps she would need to add a class on stealth to the routine combat exercises. In this particular instance, she hoped that him being loud would grant them the element of surprise, if the person they were pursuing believed there was only one person following. At each intersection, she braced herself against the bulkhead and peered around the corners, not wanting haste to lead her face-first into a disruptor blast. As they reached one such intersection, she heard the faint echoing of weapons fire coming from one direction. They were getting closer. She silently gestured for Kazeme to take one path while she took the more direct route to the sound. Hopefully their target would think the person following them was going the wrong way. It was also better to not be stacked on top of each other in case it did turn into a fire fight. With a slow breath, she waited until Kazeme had disappeared around a corner before she slid into the next tube.
[Meanwhile, on the Promenade]
There were three pairs of officers on high alert, walking each floor with careful examination of all those they passed on their way to clear the area. They didn't have much to go, just 'a cloaked figure with a disruptor', but it wasn't like there were very many people wearing cloaks walking about.

[NPC - Unknown - Jeffries Tubes]The assassin could hear someone descending down the shaft. If one Starfleeter could be heard, then surely that meant there were at least five on the move - they were well-trained, after all, and so the odds that a lone pursuer, or one of 2-3, would be a loud klutz, were quite low. The assassin, at a crossroads of tubes, rolled a smoke grenade one way, and then crept in the opposite direction. Anything for a good distraction.

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Primary Sickbay]Riyo nodded as he listened to the description of the patient and injuries. Disruptor to the back of the head? Security must be having a field day. He took a step to inspect the wound when it registered that she told him to handle the fetal transport. That certainly wasn't he was normally called for in situations like this... But now was definitely not the time to give in to his ego and argue about it. "How viable is the fetus?" 'Very pregnant' was a very relative term. Riyo knew very little about Orion gestation and when a baby could live outside the womb. But Thea was right that they didn't have much time, so even as he asked the question he was moving to the console to prepare the transport.

[Family Quarters - Civilian Decks] Leanna smiled as Max began to answer her question, happy to hear that everything was as it should be. His admission about trying no shave November and giving up, intrigued the Betazoid slightly as she had never seen her friend with a beard. Although understood his reasons, as like all of her staff he took his job seriously and above all else, she was all for them being comfortable and not restricted whilst they worked. The last thing Lea wanted was an unhappy workforce, even if she didn't mind a bit of facial hair. Which made her think of Riyo and if he would suit a beard or not. Going off topic wasn't a new thing when it came to her Imzadi and polished off another shrimp before she spoke. " Less hassle is always a good thing and you know I like you all to be comfortable at work" she replied as Max then continued. Ah to be a teenager again she thought when he mentioned Anna before revealing that they were trying to put Bridge and Tunnel on a diet. " I remember those teenage years well and good luck with putting the dogs on a diet. As much as Shadow enjoys his treats and being spoiled, we've been fortunate so far especially when he's with Jem".Her Uncle could be terrible sometimes but soon made up for it, by taking the pup on long walks around the station and when they were on Kerelia.
tag Judith Eastman [NPC - Max Williams - Family Quarters]"Our real problem with the diet is Judy," Max replied, very much tattling on his wife. "She melts like butter when they start begging her."All in all, Judy and Max were both very inclined to indulge those around them, but for him, given the more gifting and collegial nature of his job, it was easier to say no to at home, to the dogs or to the kids.

[ Thea - Primary Sickbay] Thea knew that Riyo likely wasn't expecting her to ask him to handle the foetal transport. Yet for the CO, the Bajoran was a man that she could trust, did trust in fact especially with him essentially in charge of her own personal issues. Given the situation and how quickly it had happened, Thea needed calm minds and focus. Although his expertise in other areas would also be useful if they had any chance of saving Hezula but for the time being, her unborn child was the priority. " Details are sketchy in regards to Orion pregnancies but from what the scans have told us, the baby has a 95% chance of survival and will need at least a few weeks in the NICU".Of course she could only hope and pray that there wouldn't be any long lasting issues with the child. Until he or she was born they couldn't tell exactly and they would be in the right place to help. With Riyo preparing the transport, Thea returned to the bio bed readouts. Looking for some sign of a change before the alarms began to sound. " She's starting to flatline, initiate transport and then come help me" Thea said, rushing into place to try and keep Hezula alive.

[Family Quarters - Civilian Decks] Lea didn't know whether to laugh or just grin at how Max seemed so comfortable in tattling on his wife. Then again she loved how he could be this way around her and be confident in doing so. He may of meant it seriously and if not, well what was the point of being around friends and having this type of conversation. Personally she found it equally endearing and could relate in a way to what Judy was like. " Don't worry I won't tell her and I'm sure Riyo would say the same about me as it can be difficult sometimes" Lea admitted with an understanding wink. " The main thing is that they are loved and I'm glad that we got Shadow from you as he's definitely part of the family now. It's going to be interesting how he reacts to two small babies as Aven was a little older when we got him".Shadow loved Ari and Aven and they loved him equally, in fact there was never a dull moment whenever they played or ran around together.

[SCPO Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Jeffries Tubes]As she was approaching the next intersection, Jov saw a small device rolling toward her from the opening. She had just enough time to curl into a ball and bury her face in the crook of her arm before the entire shaft filled with smoke. Sudden panic made her heart race as she realized this was perhaps the worst possible situation she could have gotten herself into. Her only hope was that the assailant was using the smoke as a diversion to slow her down, rather than as a means to cripple her and finish her off. Her eyes stung and sinuses burned as the fabric of her shirt wasn't enough to entirely keep the smoke at bay, but it at least prevented her from coughing. Stretching out, she laid flat on the deck to try and stay below the worst of the smoke. Keeping one arm curled around her face and the other extended with phaser in front of her, she continued to crawl onward. Tears began to stream down her face from the burning, and she couldn't see through the thick grey, but there were no weapons being fired at her. Blessings for small favors. As she inched her way towards the intersection, she only prayed that Kazeme was having better luck closing in on their target.

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Primary Sickbay]The scans did indeed show the fetus had fully developed organs, though the vitals were beginning to drop as the mother's were. "Initiating transport," Riyo confirmed as he typed in the commands. A moment later, the baby materialized in the nicu bed that had been brought over. A nurse stepped in to begin the immediate care, and Riyo moved to join Thea in treating the adult patient. Once glance at the wound told him it was a miracle she hadn't been killed instantly, but that didn't mean he was inclined to step back and just let her die. His instincts were to take over, start issuing orders, but he bit his tongue and reminded himself the Captain was still perfectly capable as a doctor. "I'll work on the burn while you stabilize her?" he offered instead, reaching towards the instrument tray to grab a laser scalpel and tissue regenerator.

They didn't have much to go, just 'a cloaked figure with a disruptor', but it wasn't like there were very many people wearing cloaks walking about. [ Kova Sh'qaleq - Promenade, Front Ear Station ] Kova's antennae twitched slightly as she sensed the movement behind her. Turning, she could see more Starfleet security officers patrolling the promenade. She rolled her eyes. She knew standard procedures, but it wasn't as if the assailant would return to the scene of the crime. Besides, he was probably scrounging about the Jefferies tubes looking for a safe exit... assuming Starfleet had finally gotten around to erecting some sort of scattering field. Hell, there wasn't even any guarantee that the person was still in there. Yet, the sound of the muffled explosion seemed to hint otherwise. Another smoke grenade? A likely diversion to put off his pursuers in the Jefferies tubes... or a weapon if they were close and the assailant was desperate. Either way, it was meters away and behind tons of duranium. Which meant that the chase was still on. And if the assailant hadn't managed to escape because of the field, well... that had to be something to be disabled. There were a number of ways to do that, but not everyone was calm enough under pressure to do so. Besides, the most direct means was likely the most efficient. "Hey!" Kova shouted to one of the nearby security officers. "Do your people have eyes on the power junctions for this section?" Kova asked. One of those junctions directly powered Starfleet's field generators. If the assailant found a way to disable it, they could likely make their escape. And that was another matter. There had to be a ship nearby ready to flee once the assailant was on board. Was anyone looking for that? Kova waited for a response, but it wasn't as if the security officer was obligated to inform her of an active operation. At least... not anymore.
[NPC - Zyri Zh'raal - Promenade, Front Ear Station ] Zyri hadn't heard the woman's approach, though as she set the glass down on the table, her eyes immediately darted into the direction of its origin. The woman had dark hair, and seemed relatively calm in the midst of a crisis. The hybrid began to wonder if this sort of thing happened a lot around here. Kova hadn't panicked either before she'd run off. Running towards danger... casually drinking and chatting in a crisis. Who were these people? "W-what?" she asked perplexed by the woman's observation that she could use a drink. "Y-you... should get down. Kova said it's not safe." Her eyes continued to scan each of the direction for sign of Kova's return. There was another muffled thunder in the distance. Yet, thunder couldn't happen on a space station. Was that another explosion? It wasn't long before her imagination began to deliver possible scenarios, each progressively worse than the one before. Her hand reached for the drink and she brought the glass to her lips. No sooner had she swallowed that she instantly regretted it. She could feel the burn of the liquid in her esophagus, and coughed as if she were drowning from the ale. "Agh... it tastes like engine coolant!" The cough continued as Zyri was only momentarily distracted and curious if the woman was trying to purposefully poison herself. The hybrid wasn't sure what to do. Kova had told her to stay put, but every instinct was screaming for her to run. She could hear her own heartbeat thudding in her ears. Her finger was gripping the table so tightly, that her knuckles were a stark white. Her eyes were wide as adrenaline coursed through her veins. She kept trying to take in air, but it never seemed to be enough. Her lips moved, but she couldn't be certain that any sound was coming out. Kova... where was Kova? It was as if her world had been surrounded by silence, yet that was deafened by the loud, quickening thudding that seemed to be getting faster and faster.

[ Thea - Primary Sickbay] Even with the added sound of the transporter, the atmosphere around Hezula's bed became charged with determination and sheer will as the other alarms continued to blare. Instructing one of the nurses to silence them so they could concentrate better, Thea didn't have long to wait before Riyo joined her. There was a quick glance over to the newly delivered baby, now in the care of a Nurse, relief washing through the CO at hearing the cry. When Riyo then offered a suggestion, Thea thought it was a sound plan of action and told him so as she tried to stabilise their patient. " Works for me" Thea replied simply. Now came the tricky part, her now gloved hands becoming thick with green blood from where it had spilled. A combination of stimulant hyposprays along with a neural stabiliser were used. " C'mon please just something" Thea said, refusing to give up but it was a desperate fight. Hoping that Riyo was faring better with the wound itself, Thea kept going.

[NPC - Unknown - Jeffries Tubes]Although the assassin had evaded capture, they had also been drawn away from their target, and would now have to find a new spot to blast the force field generators out. They'd studied the station's schematics, but now it was a matter of pinning down their location relative to the map. They had to stop, briefly, to read the labels on the tube.
