[Family Quarters - Civilian Decks] Lea didn't know whether to laugh or just grin at how Max seemed so comfortable in tattling on his wife. Then again she loved how he could be this way around her and be confident in doing so. He may of meant it seriously and if not, well what was the point of being around friends and having this type of conversation. Personally she found it equally endearing and could relate in a way to what Judy was like. " Don't worry I won't tell her and I'm sure Riyo would say the same about me as it can be difficult sometimes" Lea admitted with an understanding wink. " The main thing is that they are loved and I'm glad that we got Shadow from you as he's definitely part of the family now. It's going to be interesting how he reacts to two small babies as Aven was a little older when we got him".Shadow loved Ari and Aven and they loved him equally, in fact there was never a dull moment whenever they played or ran around together.
tag Judith Eastman [NPC - Max Williams - Family Quarters]"Judging by how it went with his parents, he'll be just fine," Max answered. "They do very well every time a new grandchild shows up."The corgis had encountered quite a few new grandchildren over the years. It was a large sample size. "That's one of the many benefits of dogs. They adjust very easily to new members of the pack, so to speak."

[Staz Volkova - Front Ear - The Spotty Alibi]"I grew up in a dangerous place," she told the young woman gently, though she wasn't sure where she was going with that. Yes, she learned how to take care of herself, and others, but it also taught her when to know when she was in immediate danger and when she wasn't. Of course, the situation could change in an instant, but currently there was nothing telling her that taking a few minutes to help the hybrid calm down until Kova came back would get her killed. So Staz took a seat beside her and took another drink from her own cup, grinning at the reaction received as the other tried it. "As long as it does the job, what does it matter what it tastes like?" Her gaze swept around the Promenade, noting the distinctly empty appearance as most of the other civilians had departed. Security was definitely looking for someone, though at least now it was easy to see that person was not in the immediate vicinity.

[SCPO Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Jeffries Tubes]It felt like it took forever to reach the intersection, her shoulder she kept against the bulkhead for guidance as she crawled suddenly passing open air. Now which way would the assailant have gone after throwing the smoke grenade? After a brief pause of consideration, she continued forward into the next tube. The smoke began to dissipate, the worst of it left behind her, and she was finally able to lift herself into a more suitable position to make better time. Unfortunately she had no way of knowing if she was moving swiftly in the right direction. Tag Judith Eastman
[On the Promenade] The security officer turned to look at Kova, barely masking the irritation on his face. "Are you offering to help? Or are you just planning on telling us how to do our jobs?" Though it wouldn't be a bad idea to get someone to monitor the power junctions... There had been a report of phaser fire in the Jeffries Tubes on Deck 10 a few moments ago, but the deck seal remained in place and there hadn't been any calls for backup or medical assistance. And he wasn't going to risk spreading panic by talking about it openly. Tag Kova Sh'qaleq

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Primary Sickbay]Riyo immediately set to work clearing away the dead tissue and using the regenerator on the edges as he went, trying to prevent more blood loss. He'd worked on countless wounds just like this in the first decade of his medical career; it was practically muscle memory and required little thought on how to proceed. Thea's voice and the baby's cries faded into a blur in the background as he focused, removing and healing layer after layer. Then suddenly he realized it wasn't skin he was looking at anymore, and his stomach lurched. How the hell had this woman lived long enough to be transported? Riyo had witnessed bodies being capable of miraculous things, especially without conscious effort, and the only thing he could think of was that her body instinctually held on long enough for the fetus to removed. Maternal instinct existed on a biological, cellular level just as much as anything else. His hands withdrew from the wound and he looked up at the monitor, verifying what he knew would be the case. The scans weren't showing any brain activity. "Let her go," he told Thea quietly, turning his gaze to the other doctor. "The blast went through her skull. There's nothing we can do." At least they were able to save one of their patients, though it was a shame the woman hadn't been able to meet her child.

[ Thea - Primary Sickbay] It was becoming more and more obvious despite what they were doing, that they were losing the fight to save Hezula. Losing a patient was never easy and for Thea she couldn't count how many she had been unable to save over the years. Memories of the war, her first posting never truly left her and it also served as a reminder as to why life was so precious. Admitting defeat was something Thea hated but when Riyo spoke to her quietly after his attempt to fix the damage caused by the disruptor. Thea knew that he was right, especially upon revealing why there was nothing they could do. Hezula had held on against all of the odds to enable her child to live and regardless of who she was, Thea didn't have a bad word to say against her. Self sacrifice was something she understood and in that brief moment, thought of her Dad and how he had once done the same. " You're right" she said after a minute or two. Stepping out of the way, Thea observed the readouts one last time as the computer recorded her time of death. Standing there Thea didn't know how to feel before the nurses took over. " Dr Baker, Dr Paawin ... I know this isn't the ideal time but I wanted to let you know that the baby is a boy" Nurse Angelina said quietly as she handed Thea a PADD. " Thank you Angelina" Thea replied then turned to Riyo. " I better inform Captain Eastman, let's hope Hezula's crew don't fire on us when they receive the news".Tapping her badge, Thea then contacted Ops. =/\= Baker to Eastman and Ops, despite our efforts we weren't able to do anything for Hezula and she has sadly passed away. However it's not all bad news as we were able to save her child. He's currently in NICU and Judy , he's half human =/\=
Thea knew that she didn't have to say anything else as now she understood why Hezula had wanted to see Dr Hunt and with him AWOL, she didn't know what would happen with the child unless they could find other relatives.

[Family Quarters - Civilian Decks] It was definitely good to know that Max and Judy never had any issues with Bridge and Tunnel whenever a new grandchild arrived. So any possible concerns however unlikely weren't really needed as Shadow had never shown any ill will towards the children and if Max said that he would be fine with the new arrivals, then Leanna believed him. Besides he would never be left alone and there would always be some one around to make sure he didn't get too overexcited. " That's good to know and I honestly don't know what we do without him".That was true as he had definitely enriched their lives from the moment that they had welcomed him home. It had also helped that Ari had gotten to choose which puppy she wanted from the litter and he was 100% a Mazal/Paawin. When Max continued, Lea agreed with his comment as having a dog came with many many benefits and Lea loved him just as much as everyone else in this household as well as her parents and Jem. " I'd agree with that, there's a definitely a lot of benefits and I know we got him at the right time".

Thea knew that she didn't have to say anything else as now she understood why Hezula had wanted to see Dr Hunt and with him AWOL, she didn't know what would happen with the child unless they could find other relatives. [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD - Ops]=A= "Oy vey iz mir." =A= A loss of life was always tragic, whether the deceased was an angel or (as was the case here) a devil. In this particular situation, it was also quite a problem, even though they had been able to sabotage the Crimson Revenger's weapons. =A= "Well, try to stabilize the child. We'll have to track down the family, whether that is Dr. Hunt or her next of kin. I'll see what we can get from her crew." =A= It was, indeed, oh so fortuitous that they had disabled the weapons when they had. "Take the station to yellow alert, and open a channel to the Revenger," Judy ordered. =A= "Crimson Revenger, this is Captain Eastman. On behalf of the Federation, I regretfully inform you that Hezula has passed away." =A= The phrasing, solemn, stuffy, and in passive voice, was targeted to propriety, and didn't explicitly give away that there had been a murder, to at least postpone any revenge operations.

The figure that emerged was a short Vulcan woman, perhaps in her early 40s, with a short haircut, dressed in a nondescript brown jumpsuit, nursing a small cut in her left palm. Deck 9Thus far, everything today had been a bloody disaster. For starters, somehow an Orion ship was able to hack into the computer system of a Federation base. He would make note in his report the possibility of an inside informant here on the station wasn't anything to rule out. Then a crime lord was assassinated while under Federation watch. A suggestion in his report would be to have the security detail sit with Starfleet Intelligence and go through the events step by step to make sure this doesn't happen again. But, for now, decks 6-10 had been sealed off. Their assassin was still on the loose. Lochi was doing his part to assist Security in sweeping through the Promenade. Wearing his SOB, a grey stripe running along his chest, grey eyes casually danced between the Promenade and his PADD. The last thing he wanted to do was cause a panic, so he didn't carry a weapon. He was there to investigate. He was there to observe. His gaze fell upon a short haired Vulcan woman in brown, plain clothing. He didn't recognize her, but he hadn't been on the station for very long and had only went through the personnel files twice thus far. Approaching her, he put his PADD away. "Guten Tag, Frau. I'm Ensign Areinnye. You seem to be nursing an injury. Perhaps I could take you to Sickbay for a zorough examination. [ Kova Sh'qaleq - Promenade, Front Ear Station ] Kova narrowed her eyes at the security officers reply to her question. The fact that I have to ask clearly suggests that someone needs to ," Kova replied. She stepped away from the security officer, after again being reminded that she had no direct ties with the security officer any longer... not to mention Starfleet. Of course, there was the chance that he would act on her suggestion regardless of her involvement. Whatever was to happen was Starfleet's mistake to make. There was still the matter of getting Zyri to safety. Kova had asked the hybrid to stay put. Thus far, obedience had been something that she excelled at. As Kova continued on her way, she could see that most of the civilians had left the area. The Andorian began to wonder if Zyri had found herself shuffled away from the area as well. A few meters away, she noticed some Fleeter stop a Vulcan who seemed to be nursing an injured hand. It wasn't out of the ordinary that someone would be injured after all the chaos. Kova did find it strange that she was still lingering about and not in Sickbay by now. Leave it to a Vulcan to walk in stead of run in the midst of danger. Still, Kova's pace slowed as she spared a second glance in the direction of the green-blooded pair.
[NPC - Zyri Zh'raal - Promenade, Front Ear Station ] Zyri was still trying to rid her mouth of the dreaded taste the woman had offered her. How was she still drinking that? "If the job is to clear duotronic conduits until they look like new, then mission accomplished," Zyri stated. She certainly wasn't about to try any more of that stuff. Her eyes took in the surroundings, and it was steadily becoming more and more empty. "I'm Zyri," she said introducing herself. It was always polite to do so, or at least her father had told her so. "Um... is it safe for us to still be here?" It was certainly on her mind, though while the worry was growing within, it was in part out of concern for Kova, whom she assumed should have been back by now.

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Primary Sickbay]It always hard losing a patient, and Riyo was glad that Thea didn't argue with him on trying to save her. Even if they were able to get the Orion's heart beating again, she would never regain consciousness. At the mention of the ship possibly firing on the station, his concern and curiosity over the situation grew, but he knew now wasn't the time to ask questions about what was going on and who the woman was. So instead, while Thea talked to Ops, he turned his attention back to their other patient and the nurse tending him. "How's he doing?" he asked Angelina quietly, looking down at the squirming baby in the nicu bed. At least he hadn't been born too prematurely, and likely wouldn't even need to stay there for very long. Though that left the question of where he was going to go once he was strong enough to leave. Perhaps it was Riyo's new-found paternal instinct, but he found himself hoping that whatever happened, the child would have the best life anyone could give him.

[SCPO Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Jeffries Tubes]As Jov rounded a corner, she saw a bundle on the deck at the other end of the tube. It wasn't moving, and too small to be a person. So she crept forward carefully, soon reaching the discarded cloak. There were small green smears on the fabric and the bulkhead, leading out of the nearest hatch. =A="Velal to Promenade Security. Be advised, subject has left the jeffries tube. They are no longer cloaked, and appear to be bleeding. Update BOLO for a Vulcan, Orion or Romulan." Those were the only species off the top of her head that had green blood, which significantly narrowed down the suspect pool. Of course, it could be a hybrid like herself... but the odds were slim. Following the trail, it wasn't long before she was also emerging from the hatch onto Deck 9, phaser still in hand. A quick glance around revealed Kazeme doing the same on the other side of the Promenade. She gestured for him to rejoin her, then carefully looked around at the people remaining. A few civilians had ignored the advice to stay away from the area... her teams were doing another sweep of the decks... and an Intelligence Officer was talking to a Vulcan woman. Whom was holding her hand as though injured. With the Petty Officer at her side again, she double checked the setting on her phaser and began to slowly approach the Vulcan from behind and prayed the Intelligence Officer made the connection that this was likely the person they had been searching for.

[Staz Volkova - Front Ear - Promenade]She chuckled softly at the continued description of the alcohol's burn. Oh well, she had at least tried to help. Not everyone was able to ignore their tastebuds, she supposed. "People call me Staz," she replied to the introduction. It never felt like her name, but it was certainly better than other versions such as "Ana". The Ochiran gestured to the security officers that were walking around, still on alert, but otherwise ignoring the remaining civilians. "If it weren't, they would have told us to leave." Staz answered simply before taking another drink from her cup. The more she drank, the less horrible it tasted, though she doubted she'd be able to convince the other woman of that.

[ Thea - Primary Sickbay] The first reaction from Judy wasn't completely surprising to Thea, knowing the older woman the way she did. Nothing about this situation and how it had turned to one of shock and devastation wasn't pleasant and regardless of who their patient was, it didn't make it any better. Now it fell to Judy to speak to Hezula's crew and prepare the station for a possible revenge attack, as she responded to the news about the child and thought along the same lines as Thea herself in terms of finding next of kin. =/\= Already taken care of, he's stable and under the care of one of our nurses. I was thinking the same thing and let me know how it goes with her crew, good luck, Baker out =/\= Until they got a response, there wasn't much Thea could do other than wait and update the records about Hezula and her son. But first she re-joined Riyo as her fellow Doctor asked Angelina about the boy. Both interested and concerned about him especially with not knowing what would happen to him once he left their care. ********* [Nurse Angelina - Primary Sickbay]
The boy may of arrived earlier than anticipated but Angelina took her job very seriously when it came to caring for children or anyone for that matter. Once she had given Captain Baker her initial report, the Nurse had returned to the boy's NICU bed and continued to monitor him. When Dr Paawin then asked how he was doing, Angelina smiled softly and was able to give a positive answer.
" He's doing really well, his vitals remain strong and he's breathing on his own so hopefully we'll be able to transfer him to a normal cot in the next few days or so". *********** [The Crimson Revenger]
The Fleeters might of thought that they were clever by turning their own hack against them. But for Mace, it was amusing to watch their attempts and whilst they had managed to disable their weapons, he knew that it wouldn't be for long. As much as he adored his Mistress, it was nice to be able to sit in the Captain's chair without being on constant alert around her. Ever since she had decided to find this Dr Hunt, it hadn't been fun for anyone in her employment so he was making the most of her not being on the ship.
That being said, when the ship then received the news that Hezula was dead, he did what any Orion would do and that was to take the ship and get out of here. Seeing no reason to stay around, especially now that the Crimson Revenger was rightfully his. Mace gave the order to depart without acknowledging the hail or requesting clearance. The minute the Crimson Revenger was free and at a safe distance, it went to warp, never to be seen again.
