[Costa - Diamond Dog -> LZ-1, Kerelia]=\\= "Keepin' ya on ya toes, Husty, dun want ya gettin' fat. An' lazy..." Costa paused for a moment, then amended. "Lazier." =\\= Bare-faced cheek of him, suggesting that her landing wasn't genius. Armed with her gear, she left the craft's tiny "bridge", and made for the ramp, which was hissing into place against the ground. She trampled down it and stood in the clearing, which was about a klick from the Ark's set-down point. Far enough away for her to do her own thing, close enough to take advantage of the protection the Starfleet crew's presence offered. She pulled a handheld device from her pocket and narrowed her eyes at the small readout. Behind her the rest of the skeleton crew she'd dragged along for the ride began exiting the Dog. "Stay wit the ship," she ordered the thin air, speaking to nobody in particular and not bothering to look up from her small handheld. Her voice lower then, she began to stomp off toward the jungle as she muttered, "Those mineral deposits tha' pinged earlier are lookin' remarkably Regalian in composition." [Diamond Dog] Alex couldn't help but to roll his eyes at the joyful reply he got from Hed. However, he wasn't about to let her get the last word. =\\= Like that's gonna happen on this rustbucket, ya keep the gravity too high for tha' =\\= he fired back. It could have been innocent, or it might have been a jab at how much of a spacer she truly was. There wasn't really a way to tell. At least, not one that would tell you for sure. He'd just let her stew on that for a while. He could wait.
Regardless of her reasons for coming, Alex had his own. Grabbing hypos, scanners, and equipment, he threw together his own pack, slung it on, and sealed the medical bay behind him with an extra door code seal - mostly to keep prying fingers out, but also because leaving a room full of drugs attended by none but the computer was really stupid. If someone needed it bad enough, they could call him. He'd scrounged up most of what was in there himself, and that made it his.
As he neared the ramp that Her Majesty had left, he reached into his pocket and extracted what looked like super-tinted, extremely thin sunglasses. A side effect of growing up and living in the Stars, beyond the genetic issues and drugs for muscle fatigue, blood oxygenation levels, and bone density was that it took his vision upwards of an hour to dilate enough to allow him to see naturally. Of course, he could have surgery for it... if he paid for it. However, given his current situation it just wasn't something he'd gotten around to yet.
Putting on the lenses, he stepped out from underneath the shadow of the ship, and immediately forgot the first rule of getting used to a planet. He looked upwards to the sky... and immediately fell over, heaving. After composing himself, and getting to his feet, he thanked whatever cosmic being there was that he didn't immediately see anyone laughing at him, and marched off in the direction of the new settlement. Perhaps by the time he got there, he'd be back to planetary acclimation - rock legs, he'd heard it called, a play on the old term "sea legs".
If he was lucky, he wouldn't even see Costa along the way.

[ Master Chief Ozu Saya - LZ-1, Kerelia] Saya unstrapped herself as others started moving toward the exit of the craft. Engineers! she called into the milling crowd. Start offloading the prefab panels and lean them on the outside of the carrier. There was a chorus of responses from the half-dozen or so engineers. As other members of the crew began their explorations, Saya scanned the clearing for the best spots to set up the buildings. She grabbed an armload of stakes and quickly marked out a 12' by 50' area near the treeline near one side of the clearing for the ops center, gesturing a couple of her people to start carrying over the panels that would form the basic shell inside which they would be able to place the equipment they would need for the general running of their missions from this location. Spotting the CMO outside the transport, Saya jogged over. Doctor, would you like to choose the location for the triage center? I'll lay out roughly the same size as the ops center, she said, gesturing to the marked-out area, unless you need more space for patients. we have plenty of panels to expand, if needed. Saya would have loved to do some exploring herself, always enjoying hiking in new places, but her duties had to come first, which meant getting these buildings up and supplied as quickly as possible.
Tag Thea Baker [ Thea - LZ1, Kerelia] As the Captain spoke with one of the science officer's, before indicating for him and some of the others to follow her, Thea quickly realised that she had missed some of the conversation. Not surprising given her reaction to their surroundings and how this was her first ever time on an alien planet. It was another reason why she was learning not to always get caught up in her own thoughts and daydreams. Still she was going to make the most of being here as she then caught Doug telling the group about how he knew this place, taking particular notice of what not to do and the PooDoo Influenza. Thinking that should anyone experience flu like symptoms, she knew who to call upon, for reference. Although hoped it wouldn't come to that and when she had some time, would definitely look into it more, in terms of what was available on the database. It also showed some naivety on her part, as even a paradise like this, was bound to come with some negatives. But thankfully was saved from any further thoughts by the arrival of Chief Ozu, as the CE approached her. Offering the other woman a smile as she then enquired if Thea would like to choose the location of the triage centre. Listening as she then explained how big it would be, unless she needed more space and how they would be able to accommodate for that. Thea took a moment to look where she had indicated as she thought it over, then answered the Chief. " I would love to choose the location, thanks Chief and thinking it over, I'd say we make them as big as the Ops centre for now, so we're impacting less on the natural surroundings, but at least we have the extra materials should the colonists need them".

Felicity had been stuffing her uniform jacket into her backpack when she heard Quinn's comment. She straightened up and glanced over toward him, smiling slightly as she agreed with his sentiments. "I've seen some aerial holoimages of the coast, and it's breathtaking. I can't wait to see it in person."She returned her pack to her shoulders, tugging on the straps to tighten them. Then she followed the Science Officer's lead and pulled her tricorder from her belt. "And it's all right here, in our back yard." She gestured toward their lush surroundings with the hand holding the scanning device. "Well, Ensign, no point in wasting valuable discovery time, wouldn't you say?"Felicity turned on the spot to look at one of their newer crewmates, and then waved some of the others who were exiting the Ark toward them. "Shall we?"Happy to leave much of the set up to her trusted senior officers, and keen to get to know some of the others a little better, she moved off toward the emerald green foliage. What better way to get to know some of your crew than to traipse through an alien jungle with them. She hoped they remembered their sunscreen. Doug was certainly pleased to be engaged by the young science officer. As a former Chief of Science, he appreciated the youth. "PooDoos are a lot more unpredictable than Terran felines," he informed the first Ensign, the woman. "Cats tend to always look out for themselves, whereas PooDoos are just as likely to be your best friend as they are to steal your lunch."Doug prepared his own gear, donning prescription sunglasses and a fedora and adjusting the waist of his cargo shorts, and began to force his PooDoo into her harness, as the other scientist spoke to them all, and the Captain replied. "I think Kerelia is already much better than Risa," he commented. "It's still untamed, independent, and the animals are much more interesting. I think Risa is too commercialized."The tamed, leashed PooDoo accompanying Doug, her tail held high, was case in point. She was a very interesting animal. "Oh, I know this place," he told everyone, as he and his pet took in the environment. "There's a lot of biodiversity here. Just be careful not to get bitten by anything, and not touch your face too much, just in case the PooDoo influenza from '77 is still around. I got that bug at the time, and it wasn't fun."Doug was admittedly sloppy with sharing his records, as he was saving some discoveries for the book he was writing, but this one had been shared. [Ens. Isaiah Quinn - LZ-1, Kerelia] Isaiah hadn't expected to gain the Captain's ears when he made his comment. Of course, it was always a little intimidating when you're first 'noticed' by the Captain. Luckily, it wasn't for breaking any protocols. She mentioned that she'd seen some aerial-holoimages of the area and was eager to see them in person. Her declaration brought a smile to his face, after learning that the coast seemed to be somewhere on their agenda. She then suggested that they stop wasting time and headed on their way. "Yes, ma'am!" he said quickly falling into step behind her. As they continued on, Doug made the observation that Kerelia was already better than Risa. Isaiah nodded to the man's point. The beauty of the planet before them was natural and free of manufactured aesthetics. Of course, there was a level of convenience of knowing what to expect, especially where climate was concerned. "I can't argue with that, sir," Isaiah responded. Doug continued to enlighten them with his own knowledge about Kerelia as their trek got underway. Occasionally, Isaiah looked over his shoulder as he listened, especially as he mentioned the PooDoo influenza and being a victim of it. "Wait. The what?" The ensign began to wonder if he was being serious or simply pulling their leg. Thus far, Isaiah hadn't had the pleasure of getting to know Doug well enough to know if he were being serious or not. Though, the man was a well of information, especially about this planet. He was about to make a comment when he overheard Ensign Sinclair comment about having a fear of bees. "I don't think there's any guarantee of bees, but I would assume insects would have to be prominent agents for pollination with there being so much biodiversity in a single area," Isaiah concluded. He looked in Doug's direction wondering if the man could confirm his hypothesis. "Would you agree, sir?"

[Lurai Sren - LZ-1, Kerelia]
First mission. Lurai was so excited she was practically vibrating. During her residency she had served on a ship, but this was her very first time on an away mission to an alien planet. She'd decided to stick close to Thea Baker and Ozu Saya. They had been in the business longer than she had, and so she sought out Dr Baker so she could follow where she went. The background buzz of the crew's thoughts and feelings was a little louder than normal, a testament to how excited everyone was to get out and explore Kerelia. She heard someone mention PooDoos. That was a funny name. She craned her neck to see the creature. Aww, how cute! So fluffy! Since there was a chance they might run into wild ones down on the planet, she took a moment to reach out to sense the animal's emotions, careful not to be invasive. It didn't like the harness and so was slightly irritated, but it was also happy at the prospect of going out on a walk. At least that one doesn't seem too ferocious. Backpack on her back and medkit carried over her shoulder, Lurai disembarked and marvelled at the beauty of the world they found themselves in. She was eager to go and explore what herbs there were, and to scan them and see if there were any with medicinal properties. The fun would have to wait, though, as they needed to set up the medical equipment first. She stood listening to the exchange between Saya and Thea. Picking up a PADD from a pocket on the medkit, she started searching through the medical database to see what there was on PooDoo influenza. ”There's a vaccine for the LZ1-PD77 strain of PooDoo influenza. I suggest we stock up a batch for the settlers. Vaccinating every one of us here right now might take too long, but as long as we give the vaccine to a bitten patient as soon as possible after exposure, it should work.”

She was happy to note that they were a little more unpredictable than Earth's felines. She was glad she wasn't shy or else she wouldn't have brought up Poodoo's. Lyric stepped off the Ark and was surprised how warm and sunny the planet was. The first thing she did was take off her uniform jacket from the humidity the planet presented. She folded her uniform jacket and placed it inside her own backpack. She turned her attention back to Doug as he spoke about knowing this place. She hadn't known there was a PooDoo Influenza. The rest of the crew may have more knowledge than her about this new planet. Everything would be a new experience for her. She stepped away from the Ark. She swallowed her nerves as she smelled the air. It smelled fragrant and clean. But she could also note that there were many unidentified animals, flora, fauna, and so much more. She would have briefly mentioned that there could be more to the planet than there appeared. There could be nocturnal predators as well as day predators. Regardless, Doug may know about this planet more than she did. But that didn't mean there weren't hidden dangers in your very own backyard. A brow arched, Felicity's doubt apparent for a few moments as she broke the tree line and began hiking at a decent enough pace into the jungle surrounding Landing Zone 1. At Jett's observations regarding the tricorders, she moved her own around and then brought it closer to a some greenery, which was winding its way around the thick trunk of a nearby tree. She hovered over one of the small orange blooms that littered the vine. "You're right, it's almost like there's too much unknown around us for the tricorders to separate and process. Scanning and entering each new find as we encounter it should help to compile the database, and eventually give us more accurate readings."She let most of the conversation flow around and over her as she walked, her eyes wide and bright, trying to take in all the new. The smell was different, too - not unpleasant, but heavier. Sweeter. Time would tell as to whether or not this was indeed more of a paradise than Risa, but Felicity had a sneaking suspicion that Dr. Zaman might be proven correct. As chatter turned toward finds of the insect variety, Felicity found herself grinning. She squinted against the light that had managed to filter through the thickening canopy, and then pointed at something perched on a nearby plant. "Not quite a yellow jacket, but equally as fearsome looking, Ensign." She slowed her pace and approached softly. {Bzzz! Click me!} If Felicity had learned anything during her time with the Fleet, it was to never judge a book by its cover. No matter how ridiculous said cover was. She couldn't quite help the small chuckle that erupted and the dimples in her cheeks deepened as she eyed the creature. "Hi, fella," she muttered as she hunched a little, her tricorder held aloft. Her eyes swept not just the unknown bug, but also the leaf it was resting on. "Bioluminescent?" She theorised aloud, looking at some of the glowing colours that encircled the plant's stem. "This place must be as beautiful at night as it is during the day."

I think there are a few options for location. She eyed the clearing critically, turning to look opposite the ops center location, too. We could put it right in line with the ops building, she said, gesturing to the far side of the already staked area. Or we could place it perpendicular at this end. Saya pointed to the closer end of the of the ops space where there was only enough room to turn the second building to fit within the area. The other option would be to go all the way across the clearing and have the buildings completely separate. Any of them would be fine. It's simply your preference.Since they were the first buildings being erected, they had a great deal of freedom in placement. While they wouldn't necessarily be permanent, the placement of the first few structures would set a tone for the rest of the settlement.

Jett did not quickly respond as he took a second to get a flask out of his pocket. As the person sitting across to him was a scientist, he was not surprised. The purpose of the mission was to establish an LZ and having one of the leading scientists with them was something that was logical and useful. As a bump occurred his head move slightly. The man took a sip of bourbon of his flask as he was readying himself for what is to come. Tom looked at everyone and extended his flask. “Bourbon”. He said as he did not even ask him but social conventions would indicate that he was offering him a drink. As he waited for his response, Jett said “The name is Jett, Doctor pleasure meeting you” . The man omitted the reason why he was there. He was just waiting. Prior to departing, Tom read the reports and it appeared that there were some exotic flora and fauna. However, there was nothing about a primary species or that the planet was inhabited. “My understanding hat the world is uninhabited and there has been no evidence prior civilizations, is that correct Doctor?”. Tom asked as he read the report but wanted to confirm with the Doctor. With no civilization, the Danger to them would be limited to Flora and Fauna and them not doing stupid mistakes. I got that bug at the time, and it wasn't fun."Doug was admittedly sloppy with sharing his records, as he was saving some discoveries for the book he was writing, but this one had been shared.
[ Lyric Sinclair - Transport Carrier Ark - LZ-1 Kerelia] Lyric listened to Doug as she un-belted her harness and reaching down to grab her gear and her backpack she always carried through her Academy years. She was intrigued by his knowledge of PooDoo's. The more she learned about them, the better she can learn to respect them. Like those yellow jackets that love to build their nests in the ground. "Hope there aren't yellow jackets or some similar bug that stings out here." She didn't like stinging bugs all that much and they didn't like her either. "If there are, I'm a scaredy cat around bees."

As soon as it was safe he removed his belts and stood up. For people that were paying close attention, he began by checking his pulse pistols for ammo and then holstering two of them. He was arming himself in case of potential trouble. The man was not sure if everything has been cataloged and safe. Exploration can be done but he had been around long enough to know that it can also be dangerous. The man was silent as he grabbed his bag, which contained his essential and things that he picked for survival. He looked at the person that appeared to have a medkit. He observed as she remained quiet. The Ensign made a comment that the place would give Risa a run for its money. Jett liked the optimism of the Ensign. As Felicity appeared to be leaving, Jett began moving out. He exited and observed the blue skies and green foliage surrounding them. The planet was a little warmer than he would have liked and a little more humid. It reminded him of the tropical training in Starfleet Academy. As he looked around the greenery it would be easy to get caught up in it’s beuty. Jett reacted by taking his tricorder ou and began scanning it. As he mentioned the order Jett began scanning. “I see what you are saying Doctor. I am trying to get some scans to warn us if anything approaches us. But the amount of Flora and Fauna…it’s making reading them difficult.”. Jett commented out loud. Implied was the suggestion that they would have to trust their eyes and ears for potential dangers than relying on their scans. He put the Tricorder away as for him it would be useless. Jett began looking around as he was trying to figure out what the planet had to offer. Tom strolled as he looked around he had to rely on his own experience and the Doctor's expertise to survive the planet. {Spoiler}{Bzzz! Vaccinating every one of us here right now might take too long, but as long as we give the vaccine to a bitten patient as soon as possible after exposure, it should work.” [ Master Chief Ozu Saya - LZ 1 - Kerelia] Saya offered a polite nod to the other medical officer who joined them before replying to Thea, That'll work fine. [ Thea - LZ1, Kerelia] It took Thea a moment to realise that Ensign Sren had followed her, although appreciated having the extra help on the planet, as it also gave her a chance to get to know the junior officer who had recently been assigned to her department. Acknowledging the Ensign with a friendly smile as she shared with them about what she was able to find on the database regarding the PooDoo Influenza, that had been mentioned by Doug. Admiring not only her tenacity in checking the information straightaway but also how it now saved her a job for later. " Thank you, Ensign, that was very insightful and something we can certainly put in place, once the triage and medical prefabs are put up and to also remember, should anyone get bitten".Returning to the conversation with Ozu, Thea smiled again at the Chief's response to what had been said, pleased to hear that it would work and that there was a number of options available. Following her line of sight as she pointed these options out and explained each one to Thea and thought about the different areas as to where to establish the medical prefabs. The CMO also appreciated that it was down to her preference and could start to imagine how it would all look. " Its appreciated Chief and hmm lots of choice, but I think we can go for having them completely separate, that way if they need to be extended we have the room for it, plus I suppose it will also help when it comes to establishing the rest of the camp, although I imagine that they can be moved if not suitable for the colonists".

[LZ-1, Kerelia] Tom followed the group as they walked into the green plant. The gravity of the planet appeared to be slightly less than usual but not enough to make him a world-class athlete. He followed and stayed with the group as they continued their exploration. He observed as the Captain plaid attention to his tricorders statement and followed up with her own. It was a wise move as Tom knew he was hardly a scientist, but he was trying to get an understanding of the situation. He observed the rest of the crew and listened to Felicity. [Felicity Ellis - LZ-1, Kerelia]PooDoo Flu? Scanning and entering each new find as we encounter it should help to compile the database, and eventually give us more accurate readings." Tom walked a little closer to the Captain and nodded to her statement in agreement. She was right once they catalog all the new species the Tricorder would be more effective in telling them what is around them. For now, it looks like it was a bunch of life signs and it would be hard to tell which creatures would be truly dangerous. “Yeah, with all the new species xenobiologists are going to have a field day. I bet the Scientist here are excited cataloging everything as drunk people hurry to Taco Bell after all the bars closed” . Jett finished his statement with a slight smile. He did not know if the Captain would get the reference, but he figured that she would be used to him not making sense. 4 [NPC - Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman - LZ-1, Kerelia ]Having previously acknowledged the other civilian's presence but been to distracted to respond to his question, he noted the sign of scientific astuteness now. "I have some notes that could help, but they're all on my personal PADD," he offered helpfully to Jett and the Captain. "Which, now that I think of it, is on the station... in my bathroom. Oops." As Doug offered his notes that would be useful for their tricorders, he then realized that he left it in his bathroom. Jett looked down for a second and shook his head. He made eye contact with Felicity but did not say anything. Tom was not a scientist but he wanted to have more information available. He would then away from the area of Felicity. Jett walked away from the group for a second as they appeared to be interested in something. He was paying more attention to things like wind, noises, or anything like that. Tom was thinking more about exploration and potentially setting up a perimeter using natural remedies. Taking the opportunity and not paying attention to the insect at all he turned into the Ensign. Following Felicity’s advice, he thought it would be an excellent opportunity to get to know the crew a little better. He first approached quietly to the Ensign and introduced himself. “Ensign, hi my name is Jett”. He said as he tried to extend this hand. He then looked at the Ensign and wanted to ask “So Ensign, what brings you to the Mac?” . Tom asked as he was genially curious to hear the persons story.

Talking about the place at night. Tom would listen to her and could not help but give a faint smile as she appeared to be enjoying herself. He would think that it would be good for her to have moments to get lost in an adventure. He turned his attention to the bug. "This species looks like a pollinator," he opined. He responded “No thanks sucking blood is not my style, I am more a Team Jacob, type of person” . He said. He then looked at the doctor and asked “How many more hours of Daylight do you estimate we have Doctor?” . Tom asked as he was curious. [LZ - 1, Kerelia]
As Caroline stepped off the transport to join the others, her nose wrinkled as it was bombarded by unfamiliar, alien scents. It wasn’t a bad smell, exactly, just weird. It seemed she’d finally grown accustomed to the smell of the insect repellent she’d liberally applied. She’d come along on this planetside field trip, but the local flora and fauna didn’t interest her. No, Caroline was here at the Captain’s request to observe how the crew interacted and worked together while on an away mission. It was good to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and would be a good source of data when programming team building exercises for the holodeck.
A single eyebrow raised as she considered what had possessed Captain Ellis to ask along the leather stripper man. Maybe the good Captain liked keeping around a bit of eye candy. If so, her already esteemed opinion of Ellis was going to be on the rise. They seemed to already have a somewhat familiar relationship. Very interesting. A corner of her mouth raised, with amusement. People watching was going to be so much more fun than checking out the critters and crawlies on Kerelia.
Caroline reached into her satchel and pulled out a bag of what she considered, essential provisions. Brightly rainbow colored, candy coated, chocolate peanuts to be precise. On the handful of family outings her father had attended, he always liked having a bagful on a hike. She selected a couple, she liked to start with the green ones, as that was her favorite color, and popped them in her mouth, contently crunching as she watched and listened to her fellow crewmates ‘geek’ over the alien nature.

If Felicity had learned anything during her time with the Fleet, it was to never judge a book by its cover. "This place must be as beautiful at night as it is during the day."[...] He turned his attention to the bug. "This species looks like a pollinator," he opined. "It's very bright, which I imagine is a defense mechanism, to make it look venomous. Not ideal if you're trying to suck out blood."He eyed PooDoo, to see how she was reacting. However, she was more engaged in eyeing a nearby tree, unsure if she could, or should, climb it while leashed. It looked so tall, and she was so tiny. "There are insects aplenty, I assure you all," he then added. "I hope no one's on blood thinners here, because we've had folks get bitten before."Taking the opportunity and not paying attention to the insect at all he turned into the Ensign. [...] As he mentioned that the species could be potentially poisonous, then Jett tried to get farther away from the group of people. He responded “No thanks sucking blood is not my style, I am more a Team Jacob, type of person” . He said. He then looked at the doctor and asked “How many more hours of Daylight do you estimate we have Doctor?” . Tom asked as he was curious. Lyric was 'settled' a little by Isaiah's remark. She didn't doubt she found a different flora. [Ens. Isaiah Quinn - LZ-1, Kerelia] Isaiah's eyes narrowed as he stared at his screen. There had been a cluster of plants in front of him that were giving off strange readings. Essentially, he had never seen some of the organic compounds inside of plants before. They were typically found in fauna rather than flora. His eyes lifted from his tricorder to the cluster. He started to reach out to collect part of it for a sample when another of the civilians approached him. He introduced himself as Thomas Jett. The name sounded vaguely familiar, but Isaiah couldn't place it just yet. Either way, he seemed to be friends with the Captain. Turning his attention from the plant, Isaiah raised his hand to meet Jett's. "Isaiah Quinn, sir," he said introducing himself. When he asked what had brought him to the Mac, Isaiah chuckled slightly. "Truthfully, sir: orders." Isaiah took a deep breath before continuing. "I go where Starfleet sends me. However, I do enjoy a challenge, and this posting has definitely been challenging. I've enjoyed myself out here so far, and that's definitely thanks to Captain Ellis. She was handed quite a mess, but managed to bring a lot of order to a world of chaos. So, while orders may have brought me here, given the choice at this point, I'd probably stay exactly where I am."There was one thing that was puzzling Isaiah, however. "Excuse me, sir. I wasn't intentionally eavesdropping, but... Taco Bell?" He had no idea what Jett had been talking about. Dr. Zaman began speaking once more about the insects. It seemed that they were quite prominent on this planet and played quite a role in the pollination of the plants, as Isaiah had suspected. As he mentioned that some may be venomous and others may bite to consume blood, it didn't seem to sit well with Jett. He backed away mentioning he was more Team Jacob. Isaiah's eyes widened in recollection. "Ah. Now, that one I understand," he said with a bit of pride. He could recall going through that series of holo-novels. It started off for a girl, but he had to admit, it had been interesting. "And... Team Edward always had the advantage."Isaiah nodded in Lyric's direction as she thanked him. She was now standing near Rylo and appeared to be examining the insect that the Captain had noticed. He listened as best he could to her recitation of her findings from her observation. It brought his attention to what he had been studying before Jett had come over. Though, when he turned back to look at the cluster of plants with the organic proteins... it was gone. "What? Where did it go? It was right here." he said looking around. He hadn't moved at all, and the plant had been right there. He was starting to wonder if there had been more to 'Harvey' moving about the station than someone being playful with a transporter. Either that, or he was already cracking. A glance falling in Lieutenant (j.g.) Riordan's direction did little to appease his fear of the latter.

" Its appreciated Chief and hmm lots of choice, but I think we can go for having them completely separate, that way if they need to be extended we have the room for it, plus I suppose it will also help when it comes to establishing the rest of the camp, although I imagine that they can be moved if not suitable for the colonists".
tag Ozu Saya & Lurai Sren [ Ozu Saya - LZ 1 - Kerelia] Indeed, Saya responded with a small smile. It should take only an hour or so to get the shell up, then you can direct the engineers in how you'd like everything inside arranged. She headed over to the area Thea had chosen and quickly staked out the corners, then gestured for a couple of her team to start bringing panels over and setting them up. The operations building was already beginning to take form on the other side of the clearing. Saya had brought a team of her most efficient (and least troublesome) engineers, so she didn't anticipate any difficulties on that front. Saya returned to Thea's side and observed the work for a few moments before turning to the young officer that had joined them. Ensign, or is it Doctor? she asked politely. Is this your first assignment?

A brow arched, Felicity's doubt apparent for a few moments as she broke the tree line and began hiking at a decent enough pace into the jungle surrounding Landing Zone 1. At Jett's observations regarding the tricorders, she moved her own around and then brought it closer to a some greenery, which was winding its way around the thick trunk of a nearby tree. She hovered over one of the small orange blooms that littered the vine. "You're right, it's almost like there's too much unknown around us for the tricorders to separate and process. He would think that it would be good for her to have moments to get lost in an adventure. He turned his attention to the bug. "This species looks like a pollinator," he opined. Tag Felicity Ellis Isaiah Quinn Judith Eastman (Doug) @lyricsinclair [Rylonis Trellgin, Transport Carrier Ark - Kerelia] Rylonis watched and listened as Captain Felicity spoke to them, mentioning their duties. When she said something about that it was the Science teams turn to shine, she nodded in agreement. She was very excited to finally get to explore something new, something no one else had yet. She felt a shiver of excitement work its way up her spine and she grinned, still listening to the captain, until she went to the cockpit. She looked around at the science team in a form of appraisal. She knew her strengths were in archaeology, but she also loved anthropology, so she was doubly excited to see about any fauna on the planet. She actually started to get goosebumps when they began their descent. Once they landed she unbuckled herself and began getting her things together, before walking off the shuttle. Upon exiting she looked to another one of the science officers, since she'd not met them yet, and she couldn't help overhearing the woman. Rylonis looks at the other science officer and smirks. " Don't worry, if there are insects, then I'll gladly take a look at them," she says with a chuckle. She suggests helpfully as she slowly eased away from the new insect the captain just found. "Hope Fly-Bee stays on his happy leaf." She slowly walks away from the bug. It was clear, that she wasn't just afraid of bees. It was so- silly to be a little afraid around the pollinator as Doug called it. " Oh! If there's one. There's more than one. Don't they work together to pollinate the world? And where is the nest?" She hadn't pulled her tricorder. Only because she was using her hearing and sights to observe. She was also cataloging along the way, as she explored the area away from the bug's view of thousands of her. "It may also have compound eyes so it sees thousands of you." She said thinking about the flies on Earth. "That is if it's anything like the insects on Earth." As she walked towards another curious- looking interesting tree, she raised her tricorder. " Like a jelly fish does in the ocean and in the darkest depth of the ocean. I wonder if there are sea creatures here that also glow." As luck would have it, Lyric was thoroughly enjoying herself on this new world. It was place that was so interesting. She would love to wander alone, but that would prove dangerous. She saw something of interest and tried her tricorder on the mass of unidentified jungle ivy. She didn't identify it yet so with a thought of perhaps being poisonous, she pulled her backpack off her shoulders and took out some gloves. She hoped..this wouldn't be a bad idea. Lyric hoped there was no acidic chemicals. She pulled on her gloves and picked a few leaves. She turned to Doug as he spoke, not forgetting her ivy. " Not on blood thinners myself," She replied. " What do you know about the ivy here? Does it have any acidic compounds? Or poison? I know that if three leaves are clustered together, stay away. If not clustered together, it's ok?" Fortunately, using gloves to touch anything provided some protection against any poison. Unfortunately, if she can't use them again, she would know from Doug's advice. She was eager to know more about the planet. She was inputting the ivy into her notes. Every thing had to be noted and classified. It may even serve a medicinal purpose.

Doug exclaimed questioningly. "Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time, Mr. Jett. Not very flattering to us of the scientific profession."Doug had made the mistake of eating at a Taco Bell... thrice. He'd gotten very sick after each meal. After a bit, his attention was drawn to the question about the ivy. "Kerelian Ivy follows the rule of 7, I think," he pointed out to Ensign Sinclair. "Or maybe I'm confusing it with the Evoran Ivy we'd found on the far side. We think it might've been introduced by accident by a much earlier landing party, about four centuries ago. It's interesting."But he promptly realized he was rambling. "Yeah, I think you're fine to touch it. I think."
