Saya lifted a hand in acknowledgement as Thea left them, sparing a brief glance for the civilian man she'd gone to speak to, before responding to the young ensign. Doctor, then, she said, smiling at the woman's quip. There is always a risk of mayhem in a new environment, but this place is quite lovely. It's one of the more...wild places I've been myself. I've spent most of my career in engineering on one ship or another. The station is another new experience for me, she added wryly. The Mac is a new posting for me as well. I believe it was for the majority of us, to bring us to the station. The chief went quiet for a moment as she observed her people buzzing about the clearing. A movement in the foliage of a tree caught her eye, but when she focused on it, the movement stopped.
[Ensign Lurai Sren - LZ-1, Kerelia]
She nodded politely as Baker left, then turned back to Saya and nodded, smiling. ”The space station is a new experience for me too, certainly. I'm looking forward to getting to know the station, ship and crew better.”
She usually took care to be respectful and refrain from reading other people's minds unless necessary. Growing up in a society where everyone was a telepath, however, sometimes that was easier said than done. Now, it took a conscious effort not to take a habitual peek into the Chief's mind as Lurai noticed that her superior was looking intently at something in the foliage. Instead, her own gaze followed Saya's. The moment she focused her attention on the tree, sensations appeared in her mind. ”It's a life form. Not hostile, but...” she frowned slightly. She recognised that type of distress. ”It's confused, and in some pain.”

Lyric- LZ-1 Kerelia] " Yes. Note the body. It has the greenish- tint- on it while in the sun." She stated matter of factly, " And it's song is alluring too. Intoxicating even. What may look harmless and innocent, is actually a huge threat if there's more." The next theory she offered to the captain was, " If they are pollinators, they would only focus on one thing. Collecting pollen buds on their legs. There isn't any pollen buds on it's legs." She continued to tell her her knowledge of Earth Bees. "Here's what's odd." She added, " It's not even in flight. It's sitting on a 'leaf' more than heading to a flower. Appearances are deceiving. A Fly buzzes. A bee hums because of it's wings." She explains her clarification to the Captain. " My friend's father was a keeper of bees. She taught me a little about how honey bees and some other bees pollinate flowers and plants. Honey bees dance when they find pollen. This single solitary bee could be - like a mud-dauber, a yellow jacket, a hornet, it may even be a predator- because of the mouth and the way these two teeth are." Lyric was good at pointing out the difference between two different bees. Science had it's advantages. " Also with it's mouth and teeth, it looks like it sucks blood for sure. It may be an equivlent of a mosquito instead." Lyric loved swimming in the water. But she wasn't an aquatic marine biologist. She hadn't taken courses. " I don't have qualifications as a marine biologist. But maybe I can read some holobooks on what they do." She said, as she worked on the Ivy classification. Then Lyric offered another suggestion. " Have you ever thought of two bases? One here and one by the ocean?" It may seem like Lyric was a mind reader, but she wasn't. She was also a very talkative scientist which couldn't be helped. As soon as she finished her Ivy classification, she turned to talk again to Captain Ellis, but she was heading off somewhere with her tri-corder. Maybe she found something more interesting and started to follow the captain into the jungle. She could see what Captain Ellis was following. " Hey, Captain. You know you shouldn't go alone in the jungle. It's dangerous to go alone. Sticking together is better than going alone and what is with these 'fly-bees'. I thought I saw many and now I see one?" [...] As he heard that is was the other Ensign first mission. Jett could not help but nod at her direction. Hopefully, it was just a stroll in the jungle. One thing was for sure their Captain was no rookie and she would probably guide them as much as he could. He then turned his attention to the Captain. As they talked about possible excursions, Jett smiled at the Captain as she appeared to have the heart of the explorer. He walked to pick up the pace and walk next to her as she was trying to catalog different species. He looked at her and merely said “Enjoying yourself Captain? I don’t think I have seen you smile this much” . Tom observed. As they talked about the Science of the area, Jett took a second and listened to Felicity that they had some hours of sunlight so hence there was no need to rush. He grabbed from his backpack and took out a canteen figure which had water. He took a gulp of the water and offered to the people “Water anyone? It’s good to keep yourself hydrated”. Jett offered as he wanted to make sure that they were all safe. He observed a familiar Lt. in the background. Last time he saw she was drunk and thinking that he was a Stripper. “Don’t worry Luitenant. There are no poles in the area to be a stripper” . The man said as he smiled at her to indicate that he remembered their first greeting. Taking a second he looked at the people and said “Let me see if I remember Dr. Zaman, Ensing Quinn, Ensign Sinclair and Crewwoman Trellgin” . Tom responded as he wanted to make sure that he got their names straight. As they discussed Science he would take a step back as he was merely observing them doing their job. [Felicity Ellis - Jungle, Kerelia]She listened to Sinclair's thoughts, her head cocked a little to one side again as she considered. The scientist's logic was sound, and Felicity couldn't help but feel a little impressed as she worked through the process of attempting categorisation of the winged insect. By the time she'd lead them to the possible conclusion of the creature's purpose, Felicity had taken a slight step back from one of the hovering groups, her gaze no less curious, but perhaps a little caution was reflecting in her body language. "You're right, they've certainly got the mouths for nibbling."When the Ensign asked about the second landing site, and proposed establishing a second base, she nodded. "Landing Zones 1 and 2 will hopefully become permanent destinations for us here on Kerelia, though for this trip our main efforts will be focused here. Certainly won't stop us checking out those beaches, though." The idea of exploring the coast restored her previous feelings of excitement, and when Jett commented on her smile, the grin only grew. "Reminds me a little of home," she told him. The climate might be different, and the critters were certainly not the same, but she was still out in nature, walking, getting some sun, breathing fresh air that hadn't been recycled more times than she could count. "This is what it's all about though, isn't it Tom?" She gestured to the wonderful life that surrounded them. "Why we signed up?"She was wandering off in pursuit of the Fly-Bees while Jett offered around his canteen, obviously on his very best behaviour. At the sound of Lyric's voice again she paused momentarily, looking back at the young Ensign and attempting to assuage her concerns. "Don't worry, I won't go far," she promised, "Just want to see if they have some sort of nest, like you said." She was already starting off toward the brush again, and was pushing aside the fronds of a shrub, going a little deeper into the jungle. But she was as good as her word, and she didn't move too far away from the rest of the group, who were getting stuck into their work with an enthusiasm Felicity appreciated. For her part, she'd abandoned her tricorder, and was straining to listen to a distant sound. It wasn't the newly-discovered Fly-Bees she was hearing, rather something that sounded a lot like running water. During the mapping of the area she hadn't recalled seeing the water source quite this close; perhaps they'd covered more ground than she'd thought.
Tag: @lyricsinclair , Thomas Jett . [Costa - Beyond LZ-1, Kerelia]Someone was rubbing sandpaper into Costa's face. She groaned, her mind fighting against falling back into darkness. She wriggled her fingers. Good, she could still move, so she brought her arm up closer to her face, and waved away whoever was trying to sand down her forehead. "G'way," she muttered into the dirt, her hand flailing uselessly. When the sanding stopped, she opened her eyes. There it was. Sitting back on its haunches, and looking at her. It licked its lips. She made a shocked, choking sound, and tried to scramble away from the catmon. While she scampered backward she wiped a hand across her head and felt a strange wetness there that wasn't just blood. The thing had been licking the long gash on her head, using its rough tongue to clean it of blood. It had felt as though layers of her skin had been removed. Costa spied her machete and reached for it in a flurry of movements. "'S'my blood!" She told it, waving her weapon around sloppily. "Dun come any closer, ting," came the warning, her words slurred from concussion. The catmon merely stared at her. She scooted back on her ass until her back hit the trunk of a tree, and then began to try and pull herself up without taking her eyes off the weird feline-like animal, that now knew what her blood tasted like. When she reached her feet, she let out another shout, though this time it was of pain. She looked down at her foot and grimaced, trying to put some weight on it. All she needed was for her ankle to hold for another half klick or so - that was it. With a clenched jaw she pushed off from the tree, and took a moment to steady herself before she hobbled away from the site of her fall. She kept the business end of her blade pointed at her enemy as she left the clearing. The pain in her ankle was intense. Realising she must have twisted it badly when she'd tripped, she knew she wouldn't be able to maintain any sort of pace until she got some painkillers into her. And there was only one person she could call for drugs. She sighed, mostly from the pain, but also a little because she was just really pissed off. About a hundred or so meters from where she'd fallen, Costa sat down again on a small cluster of rocks and tried to raise her foot a little so she could get a closer look at the damage. The fact that she felt absolutely no pain in her head, but felt a little dizzy, should have worried her, but her mind wasn't firing on all cylinders. =//= "Costa ta Hust. Need ya help wit somethin'." =//= She lowered herself backward onto her makeshift seat, and as the hard surface poked into her back, she took some solace in the knowledge that she was close to the foot of the mountain, and therefore only a short distance away from the caves and the deposits they contained.

[ Thea - LZ1, Kerelia] As the man returned her greeting, Thea smiled, especially at the mention that he was the medic on the Diamond Dog, before explaining why he was here and how he had figured that she would know where he would be most useful. Even the use of her rank, did little to stop Thea, from wanting to continue talking to him. Besides it wasn't the first time that she had met a Freighter Medic, as she had come across several during her previous assignment on Epsilon, in fact he kind of reminder her of Silas, the medic of the Venus, a ship that was very similar to the Dog, who was both friend and occasional lover. Knowing that this wasn't the appropriate time to reminisce, Thea then responded to Alex. " Pleased to meet you Alex, it's always good to meet a fellow medic and ah yes the Diamond Dog, I've always had a soft spot for the Antares Class type of Freighter, you're welcome to assist us in setting up the medical prefabs and feel free to call me Thea".When he then asked if she was from the ship up in orbit, again he wasn't the first anti fleet person that she had encountered and doubted that he would be the last. That's why it was important to her to build friendships regardless of rank and opinions, to show that just because she was Fleet, didn't mean that she was a complete ogre as she respected people's views. Hoping to validate that and reassure him as he then told her that he had the same knowledge despite not having access to the equipment that the fleet had. " I am but in my experience, medical knowledge and having that expertise, is far more valuable and useful, than whether someone is fleet or not, I've worked with other freighter and non fleet medics before, some even are friends and I respect them a lot".[LZ1] Alex listened as she spoke and introduced herself, providing context for the area and talking about the ship a bit. If anything else, it meant the Fleet was keeping an eye on the ship, something that had mixed thoughts as far as Alex was concerned. He'd fallen shy of calling himself a Doctor, and would continue to do so whenever he wasn't actively with a patient. It felt wrong, comparing himself to the officers in Starfleet with their pristine sickbays, racks of equipment, shiny tools, and teams of specialists only a few bulkheads away. On the other hand, there were technical Doctors like Alex, MDs in their own right working out of dumpy closets that barely pass for medbays, secondhand equipment, older techniques, and a much higher reliance on their own abilities to be "jack of all trades" but masters of none.
Sometimes, knowing how to make do with far less was a good thing, especially when replicators broke down and the supply reserves dried up. Improvisation could not be taught, only learned. "Alright then, Thea," he said, "I guess lead the way" He'd no sooner said that than a beeping could be heard coming from something on him.

The voice came from a little box situated on Alex's hip. It was obviously some type of communicator, but by far was not a Federation or Human design.
It was, in fact, a picked up bit of technology from a species known as the Arkarians, a Federation member world. He hooked it off his belt and listened closely, before his face contorted itself into a frown. There were many problems with what he just heard.
First of all, his Captain was hurt. That was a big problem, in and of itself. Generally that wouldn't surprise him - but she rarely reached out for help. If she was asking for help, there was something wrong majorly. Secondly, she didn't sound fully herself. And odds were, the less Fleet knew about it the better.
"Thea," he said, pausing, "It appears Hed has gotten herself into a bit of trouble... I'll be back in a bit to help, but you'll have to excuse me," he said, his English switching from conversational to the more formal, and often more persuasive form of language. He didn't do it intentionally, but there it was.

Tag Ozu Saya [ Master Chief Ozu Saya - LZ 1 - Kerelia] Saya's brow wrinkled as she glanced from the tree canopy to the doctor. Perhaps we should keep an eye out above, she said warily. She glanced around for Felicity, disappointed that the captain wasn't in sight. It took a moment for Lurai's words to completely register, and Saya's eyes snapped back to her. She'd made the error of assuming the doctor was human, but she must be at least partly Betazoid. I don't think we could have done anything to have harmed any of the fauna. At least, I hope not. We certainly don't wish to intrude any more than absolutely necessary on the environment.

[Jungle – Kerelia] Tom walked with the group as he looked at the scientist as they did their work. Most of their conversation and observation was lost on him as Science was not his strong area. The man was a little out of place with the group as he was not a Scientist. He was not known for any specific scientific achievement he just knew the basics from Starfleet Academy to do routine scans. As they walked the jungle he listened to the Captain. [Felicity Ellis - Jungle, Kerelia]"Reminds me a little of home," she told him. The climate might be different, and the critters were certainly not the same, but she was still out in nature, walking, getting some sun, breathing fresh air that hadn't been recycled more times than she could count. "This is what it's all about though, isn't it Tom?" She gestured to the wonderful life that surrounded them. "Why we signed up?" As she revealed a little bit he looked at the Tropical planet and figured it did remind him a little of tropical rainforest on Earth. It was nice to be out in real nature, and he took a deep breath. And place his hand on his hip. As she gestured that this is what they signed up he smiled for a second as he was reminded how it was to be a Starfleet officer. The man looked down for a second and said “Yeah, some of us joined for this. To explore the galaxy, Felicity, it’s amazing what is out there. Others for different reasons” . Tom responded quietly as he joined for different reasons. He thought of his mother dying and how he was powerless to stop it. He joined as a humanitarian and now he is a pirate. The irony of the situation was not lost with him. He rarely talked about why he joined Starfleet most of his conversations is why he left. Jett walked away from Felicity as they warned her not to go far off herself. She can take care of herself Jett thought with amusement as he walked to the group. He was silent for a second as he was not concerned with Felicity, he knew she had been in thought spots before. [Ens. Isaiah Quinn - LZ-1, Kerelia] Isaiah listened as Jett explained what a Taco Bell actually was, but only after insisting that Isaiah refer to him as simply Jett. He made quite a point about stating that he wasn't a Starfleet officer. That was obvious, given his attire. Though, Isaiah certainly wasn't about to judge the man's fashion sense. Besides, it took a great deal more than people thought to pull off a leather-look. Especially, in this climate. It still said nothing to describe his affinity with the Captain. Yet, that was hardly any of Isaiah's business. "Understood, sir... I mean, Jett."Jett's actual description of the restaurant, however, did remind him of some places that he frequented when he was back in the Academy. Sure, there were times where cadets would get together in a celebratory function, and there were certainly restaurants that they would flock to in the aftermath of such parties. He could never recall a Taco Bell personally, though. That either spoke to its rarity since Dr. Zaman was apparently familiar with it as well, or to the nature of the parties that Isaiah had attended. As his attention returned to the mysterious plant, or rather it's disappearance, Isaiah was easily a bit anxious about its disappearance. Rylo was the first to speak towards it, to which he responded. "Isaiah Quinn," he said taking her hand and introducing himself. His attention returned back to the location, or rather the plant's previous location. "There was a plant here a moment ago. A bush, I suppose...." His voice trailed off, as he didn't want to get wrapped up in such details. "It's not here anymore. It's gone."Lyric then replied that perhaps it was a defense mechanism, or even some sort of adaptation of the plant to move of its own accord. Isaiah's eyes narrowed. "Disappear from sight, perhaps," he agreed. "But to elude the scans from our tricorders?" He still wasn't convinced that the plant had just decided to get up and walk away for a water break. A long sigh left his lips. He was tempted to turn the tricorder on himself and conduct a scan. Of course, that would likely lead him to being stuck in a medical tent for the rest of the afternoon. His eyes glanced once more in Counselor Riordan's direction. If not the medical tent, than a couch, he thought. Hearing the offer of water from Jett, Isaiah reached and grabbed his own container. Perhaps the heat was starting to get to him. He took a sip, and then his eyes returned to his tricorder. It would be easy to just explain it all away as happenstance, but he was too stubborn to admit that his mind was playing tricks on him. The passing thought that he had been bitten by some insect that injected him with a venom that caused psychotropic delusions was still low on a list of theories, but far from dismissed. Jett observed the Science Officer as he is starting to call him Jett. He had a slight smile in his face as he tried to follow his request to just call him by his last name. He acknowledged that he tried and saw that he drank his water from his canteen. As he mentioned about a bush moving as he thought it could be a plant or an animal hiding as a plant. Jett silently took the safety off his holster in the event the needed to quick draw. It was subtle enough that most people would not realize he was getting ready but there if you were looking at him. [NPC - Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman - LZ-1, Kerelia]Doug noted Sinclair's excitement about the ivy, but she then continued on so he didn't comment. And then came Jett's next Taco Bell comment. "I try not to think of Taco Bell, Mr. Jett. Having it in my mind reminds me of the times I've had it in my stomach," he pointed out. Then, he continued looking around, as did Pood. Until Jett's naming question came. "It's Sir Doug Zaman, thank you," he corrected. "I'm looking for a squire, actually, if you're interested."However, PooDoo's attention was then drawn to Quinn and what he was examining. Doug followed the tug on his leash, and found his foot stopping only millimeters away from stepping in a small pile of animal droppings of some kind, about a meter away, disguised in the ground. "A missing bush, you said?" he asked. "Very interesting. Might have to do with this poop here."PooDoo, naturally, decided she had to poo in the same location. Dr. Zaman felt the need to correct him and to say that he was a Sir which implies by the ancient earth custom he was knighted on old royal families and years ago. The alternative was a planet that they did have Knights. Jett shrugged the man off and responded with a sarcastic tone “My apologies Sir Doug Zaman, I got confused since you were not carrying a sword and did not have a Squire holding your banners. We really should get a hologram or a person to do that for you. You should be looking for a squire.” . Jett mentioned to the man as he was trying to give him a suggestion to avoid any more problems.

[ Thea - LZ1, Kerelia] For the briefest of moments, Thea wondered how Alex would react to what she had said, especially given his obvious distrust of the Fleet as a whole. Although the CMO hoped that they could establish some kind of working relationship as she was honest with how much she valued skill over their career preference. So when he did answer her and told her to lead the way, there was some relief as she smiled. " Great and sure" she replied, as she began to move off in the direction of Sren and Saya. However didn't get very far when Alex received a call from his Captain and naturally wanted to go to her aid. " Understood, I hope she's alright and I'll see you later".Of course if they needed any further assistance then she would offer that help, but for now, she continued on her way back to those she had just left. It soon became apparent that something had happened whilst she was gone, judging by the conversation that she had caught the end of. " Is everything okay?".

Alex shed his pack quickly, opening it for only a moment before extracting a small data device and a weapon from the pack and slinging it back on. Although he didn't want to admit it, he did have a connection and care a bit for the crew, and by extension, the Captain. The device's screen lit up, as he tapped along and located where Costa's comms beacon was coming from. Not an engineer by any means, but this sort of thing would get him close enough.
As he slung the pack back on, he started walking at a rather fast clip toward the location indicated, faster than he'd walked before. The adrenaline and concern driving through the normal issues of muscle fatigue or oxygenation. As he walked, he also strapped a leg-style holster for a Romulan Disruptor to his leg - something he'd picked from a fallen Romulan ground soldier during the Dominion war and smuggled under Starfleet's radar to keep, complete with the weapon itself.
He continued to talk to Costa, barking at her through the device. =\\= "Hed, stay awake. Do not go to sleep... listen to my voice. [LZ-1 to Costa] Alex shed his pack quickly, opening it for only a moment before extracting a small data device and a weapon from the pack and slinging it back on.
Whatever you do, don't go to sleep. =\\= He knew just from her voice that she likely had a concussion - and if she went to sleep there wasn't much he could do. [Costa - Beyond LZ-1, Kerelia]=//= "Stop orderin' me 'round, owala. Am Hed, no you." =//= He was so bossy. She was on vacation, wasn't she? She could nap in the sun. Costa didn't have to listen to this madness. So she tried to block out the sound of the medic's voice, and let her eyes slide blessedly closed. The corners of her mouth curved upward a little as a peaceful heaviness fell over her, and a soft "Mmmm..." escaped her when someone said something about a bet. She did like those. She liked winning. But then... =//= "WHA'!?" She sat bolt up straight, hand automatically slapping against her temple in attempt to quell the dizzy spell and steady herself, though she barely noticed. "Nah chance, Hust. Would gut ya 'fore I gave my Dog to ya." =//= She barely registered the pain as she considered the prospect of betting her livelihood with that chancer of a doctor. =//= "Over my dead body." =//= Maybe that was the idea. There were many ways in which someone with Hust's experience could do her in - and make it look totally natural. Then he'd claim her ship as his own, and likely none would challenge it. Not even her da. Especially not him. He'd probably be delighted. Suddenly, Costa's mind was working overtime. Her loose grip on the hilt of the machete tightened, and her eyes narrowed. With her free hand, she pressed her palm into a nearby flat rock and tried to push herself up. Even if she was about to keel over and slip into the long sleep, she wanted to do it with her front to her enemies.

Lurai Sren - Lz-1, Kerelia
She nodded in agreement at Saya's remark that they'd better keep an eye on the canopies. ”Yes. I doubt it poses any immediate danger, but do you think we ought to inform Security anyway, Chief?”Baker returned and Lurai turned to her. ”Yes Ma'am”, she replied, ”there's just an unidentified life form observing us from that tree.” She indicated the tree in question. ”Whatever it is, it isn't hostile, just confused and in a bit of pain.”

[ Master Chief Ozu Saya - LZ 1 - Kerelia] Saya hesitated - not usual for her, but this was an entirely new environment. Finally, she nodded once. I'll inform the captain, but I don't think it warrants more than just monitoring for the moment, if you don't object, Doctor? Saya asked the young Betazoid. =/\= Ozu to Captain Ellis. This is a...courtesy call, if you will. I suggest remaining alert particularly to the tree canopy. There is currently some creature above the clearing, which our Betazoid doctor has informed me is in some kind of pain. I've asked her to continue to monitor it for now. I don't wish to cause further disturbance, unless you believe we should attempt to help the creature. =/\= Saya left the thought dangling as she glanced up into the tree again. The animal wasn't moving, and wasn't visible, but she assumed it was still there. Her own empathic abilities were far too limited to sense anything at that distance.

[...] "A missing bush, you said?" he asked. "Very interesting. Might have to do with this poop here."PooDoo, naturally, decided she had to poo in the same location. Lyric was trying her best to offer some alternatives. "An alien planet has new life. New plants. New animals. Maybe there are things we haven't seen yet."Lyric wasn't trying to be a 'basket-case' as they say. But this was her first mission and she may be a little too excited or too talkative. She may not even get asked to go on another mission. Things weren't always explainable unless you were a genius. She was planning on asking Doug about the prospect of moving plants. "Many plants always move towards the sun. I just thought maybe that would be it?" She wasn't 'thinking' illogically, was she? She hoped she was.
Without realizing that she may need a drink of water, she took her canteen and drank some water. Feeling a little better and less thirsty, she breathed a sigh through her lips. "I don't think it liked being scanned with the tricorder or something else may have made it move."[...] Lyric was excited about the ivy and as much as she could talk someone's ears off, she hoped it wasn't too much. "Am I too talkative?" She wondered in thought. She choose the time to listen, but couldn't help but chuckle about how the PooDoo decided to take advantage of relieving itself near the plant that had moved or disappeared off the tricorder. "Now I know why they're called PooDoo's." She said in an amused voice. Rylonis listened to what Isaiah and Lyric both had to say with great interest. " Not all plants actually need sunlight, if you'll remember, Earth has a number of flowers that only bloom at night," she points out. " I'm pretty sure I could find a few other planets in the database that has nightly flora and not just daytime flora," she explains with a whimsical tone as though she was starting to get lost in thought as she spoke. She was pulled back to reality by a gentleman speaking to Isaiah, she gave the man, Jett, an acknowledging smile as she focused on the Science at hand. " Should start by taking soil samples around where you think you saw the plant, could be something-" she was cut off by someone else stating they'd found animal excrement. She walked over, knelt down, and pulled out her Tricorder to begin taking readings and seeing what she got. She couldn't help but chuckle at Lyric's comment about why Poodoo's had their name after the creature decided to go on top of the other. " Much like a human dog, yes?" she asks curiously. [Ens. Isaiah Quinn - Jungle, Kerelia] To say that the plant's disappearance was puzzling was an understatement. Isaiah didn't dispute a lot of the suggestions that his colleagues were making. He could agree with Lyric that sometimes plants could move. He simply had never personally come up with one that moved entirely from one location to another. Rylonis also brought up the point that not all plants needed sunlight, which suggested that if the plant had moved it was for another reason. That still suggested that the plant was mobile. It wasn't something that Isaiah wanted to admit to, though whenever one has ruled out all of the possibilities, then whatever remained no matter how improbable was probable. It was then that Dr. Zaman pointed out the feces in the area that the plant had been, or rather his pet PooDoo had seemed to find it. Rylonis suggested taking samples of the area. Perhaps, that would be as close to solving this particular mystery as they were going to get. "That's not a bad idea," he stated. He kneeled down minding the PooDoo's space as it conducted its own business. He reached into his pack and proceeded to remove a few containers to collect samples. He made certain to collect samples of the soil and the unknown feces. It didn't seem necessary to collect any of the PooDoos. "We can take a closer look at these later," said Quinn. There was no way they'd be able to run a full analysis in that spot, and it seemed like the Captain was prepared to move on. He took a few moments to take off the jacket of his uniform and pulled up the sleeves of his shirt. After stowing the rest of his gear, he rose to his feet once more and began to move in the direction the Captain had gone. "I guess we may as well figure out what other mysteries this place has for us."

[ Thea - LZ1, Kerelia] It was Sren who answered her query first, instantly making Thea look towards the tree that Lurai had indicated, as she explained what she had seen. The CMO knew that there was indigenous animal life on Kerelia, so it wasn't a huge shock, instead she was curious and intrigued as to what this life form was. Although the fact it wasn't hostile was a huge bonus, but there was definitely some concern, especially over it being confused and possibly hurt. " I wonder what it is and what could of hurt it?" she mused out loud, as Saya then informed the Captain. Considering this was all new to them, Thea would of done exactly the same thing, especially when it came to away team procedure. Grateful for Lurai's abilities to help them with this latest development and if the Captain agreed to them helping the creature, then she would be more than happy to do that. She maybe a medical doctor, but that didn't stop her when it came to injured animals, thanks to her best friend being a vet. Still it would be interesting as to what their next step would be, as she looked towards the tree once more.

The plant she studied and still had in her grasp hadn't disappeared. "What's going on with these disappearing plants?"She thought. " Maybe, it wasn't really there." She offered an explanation to Isaiah. "Maybe these plants that are disappearing are a defense against us?" The plant life was acting too funny. "There's another explanation. A plant that can move has some form of intelligence. Like if someone is blocking the sun from the plant, it will move to another sunny location. Or the fly-bees are using these disappearing plants as a defense. Like - a symbiotic relationship." She read something about that in one of the Academy holobooks where some plants can pick themselves up and move to another area. [Lyric Sinclair, Transport Carrier Ark - Kerelia- LZ-1] "Yes." Lyric returned a smile. "I've not been on any ship before this. They had me assigned mostly on Earth under some brilliant scientist instructors and learned a lot. I've learned that everything has a purpose. Even this bug that looks like a Fly-bee. Many of these plants are alien to me, but if all plants are the same, they require sun for photosynthesis and creating chlorophyll to use as food. Unless I'm mistaken. It wouldn't surprise me if the plants developed legs and walked which is weird." She explained.
Then she smiled again. "It's nice to meet you both." She adds.
[LZ1 Kerelia – Playing Follow the Leader] Tom walked with the group as he tried to get to know the Ensign. His attempt to follow the Captain’s advice and trying to get to know the crew was something he was trying. The First-person under her command that he was meeting was an Ensign named Isiah Quinn. He listened to the Ensign’s perspective that he was there under orders. Jett smiled as it was a simple, yet probably the most honest answer that he could expect. “I can respect that Ensign. Also, Jett is enough, I’m not a Starfleet Officer no need to address me as Sir. Just trying to make friendly conversation. “. Tom responded with a slight smile. He knew that Quinn did not mean anything bad. It’s just he does not want to be confused as a Starfleet Officer. Even though he was exploring with them and unlike Dr. Zaman it was not obvious his presence to the planet. As he mentioned about his Taco Bell comment, Jett reacted with a smile. “It’s an ancient earth restaurant that used to sell really cheap food late a night and drunk people loved it. It was a common joke that you asked a sober person where is the nearest Taco Bell and their response was I don’t know. But, if you got them drunk, they would magically remember every Taco Bell Location.” . Jett smiled and responded sarcastically “What do you mean? I’m sure one of the unanswered questions of the Universe is whether Taco Bell’s Beef Tacos is considered scientifically Beef. I bet they were studies on the subject. . Jett responded as he was obviously teasing the Scientist. As the conversation of the Taco turned to Twilight, he smiled as he heard that he was a member from Team Edward. And that he had the advantage. Jett looked at the man and said “If one of them is poisonous, you can take one for the team and suck up his or her blood. I rather stay alive thank you very much” . The civilian hoped that he would get his sense of humor as they were exploring a new planet. As he heard that is was the other Ensign first mission.

"It refers to their temperament and their screams."To the other Ensign, he explained the behavior. "It's a little like a Terran dog, in that she's marking her territory, but it's for a different purpose. Her cousin, the Greater PooDoo, likes to claim large swaths of the forest to itself, which other Greater PooDoos know to avoid. The smell of her droppings has an echo that hangs around for days, for particularly sharp-nosed animals like the PooDoo. It repels them."Pood was done relieving herself, and kicked up some dirt towards Quinn. "Sorry about that," Doug apologized to the young man. "She's a bit of a privacy fiend and an exhibitionist all in one. If Mr. Jett were to accept my offer and become my squire, he could help clean it up."The last words were said with a look towards the leather-clad civilian. "By the way, Mr. Jett, what brought you here? A love of the unknown and the wonders of nature?"

Of course, she wasn't really going to 'tell the captain' what to do since she was an explorer. But nothing prevented her from offering advice on the fly-bee. Being careful was always a good practice on an alien planet. Safety was also another priority. Recklessness would cause problems. She wasn't being reckless. As she listened to Captain Ellis, she couldn't wait to check out the beaches. "I think the beaches would have as much interesting sea-life as the land insects and animals." Lyric couldn't help but offer a curious note. She also had a job to do and the interesting life could get even more interesting. Lyric had forgotten about some plants not always needing sun. She was so excited about working with the other scientists and making some observations. She should have thought about the plants. Rylo was right. There were even plants at night that bloom, even on Earth. "We should check them out and compare them to these interesting plants. Maybe some of them share some characteristics." The Poo-Doo, the 'Fly-Bee', the disappearing plant, and now Poo-Doo excrement. Lyric couldn't help but continue to chuckle about how the Poo-Doo poo'd right near that plant. It was science. "This will sound even more far-fetched. But what if the Poo-Doo poo had a property like acid? Or a compound that dissolves organic matter?" She also wondered if the Poo-Doo, though feline, used a litter box. A litter box had small clay particles and they weren't organic matter. She watched Isaiah scoop up some of the poo to examine later. Addressing, Doug, she was surprised. She hadn't known that. "I hadn't known they can scream." Lyric decided once she was on the ship, she could find out a little more about them. "Do you think when they scream, it's to ward off other Poo-Doo's in the area?" "I hope there aren't any humongous carnivorous plants in the jungle." It was even more far-fetched that there were. This planet was full of mysterious plants, and animals. Her imagination was running away with her. "But that's a little far-fetched, right? Carnivorous plants do exist on Earth and possibly other planets." Then Lyric began to follow Quinn, if they were going to move out of the area, she did not want to get left behind.
