[ Leanna - Turbolift, Deck 29] It was Harmon who spoke first, not that Leanna blamed him, considering how much of an awkward situation she had put him in. When this was over, she would thank him for being there and for his attempts to keep her focused, with his encouragement and kind words. When Kellen then called her by the affectionate nickname, that he had bestowed upon her back on Sierra, it took Lea a moment to realise, that his glasses were clearly broken and if it wasn't for the fact that she was in the middle of giving birth, she would ask what was wrong. Although had to admit that she was glad to see him, especially when he then started asking about the contractions. " I have no idea, less than a minute, I think, but I've had the need to push about three times now" she admitted, as her body allowed her to have a moment of rest. Knowing that she probably didn't have long, before instinct took over again, Lea did feel comforted further by Fells's presence, happy that he was here to witness his son being born. She knew that he would have questions, but as he reached for her with his arm, she took hold of his hand, feeling his concern as she answered him. " Yes, your son decided to make an early appearance".Of course it would of been obvious, but it was clearly a shock to him as much as it had been for her, but at least, they were now together. When he then asked who Harmon was, Lea didn't have chance to make the introductions as her body signalled that, it had rested enough. " I need to push again, I apologise now, if I hurt you" she said as she squeezed his hand.

[Intelligence Office - Ensign Hudson]
Hudson was excited as the Commander praised her "excellent approach" but her excitement quickly dissipated as the Commander continued. The young Ensign couldn't tell if she was being patronising or genuine. She certainly seemed to be no fan of the way Intelligence operated. "We don't know if there are others who might have been compromised as well as Nonch," she replied almost defensively. As the commander continued speaking though Hudson settled after her instinctive defensive response. "We should let Security know we've found," she said sheepishly feeling like she was back in school again being lectured by a teacher.
Tag: Judith Eastman [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Intelligence Offices -> Security Offices]Judy nodded. "That's right," she replied. "I'd say we should go there, too. They have Fatax, so we can take a look at him and size him up if we find that necessary. I don't know if you've had enough interrogations to notice it, but what a man does with his hands when he's got nothing to hold is a serious tell."She offered a smile. "Well, interrogations or dates," she quipped. Then, she motioned for Hudson to stand up, and led her over to Security's offices. "I understand your mindset. There could be more moles, and we need to be careful," the older woman remarked. "The trouble is that when we act too readily on that possibility, we lose our team cohesion, and that's a fatal hit to take."Judy felt that, having gone against the MO of young Ms. Hudson's department, an explanation of the reason was needed. Entering the offices, Judy strode into a vacant meeting room with a few terminals. "I'm not sure about our legal standing to access Fatax's accounts, but we can access his public records. Things he owns on the station, movements, what-have-yous," she suggested. =A= "Eastman to Chief Melinh. I'm in your domain, and wondering if we have a legal basis to sniff around Mr. Fatax's financial records or if we need a warrant. As they waited for the technician to arrive, Rio looked up at the light that was the proposed source of the errant field, then frowned. "We maybe might should have the entire station scanned when we get a chance?" Goodness knew, there could be locations like this all over the place, of different sizes. "I mean, is that even possible, to have more than one cloaked site? There could be all sorts of things going on that no one is any the wiser to." It was hard to look for something you didn't even know you had to look for! But this could be the root of so much more. "Looks like we have our work cut out, unless the tech people could figure things out through remote scans?
Commander Eastman had not exaggerated. From halfway down the promenade she knew she was in the right place. Lieutenant Aune stood out like a bear, head and shoulders above an Andorian. She recognized Sosa from the enlisted barracks. Also with them was a stationer who looked like he'd rather be anywhere else. "Hey, I'm Som. You've got troubles with the sensors?" She shrugged her equipment bag up on her shoulder better and tucked her hair behind her ear, looking around at the crack team. "Did I hear something about a cloaking device?" she asked, her interest definately piqued. And then, Kaya Som honored her curiosity further, and nodded at the human stationer. "What's his deal?" "Absolutely," Sven responded to ensign Rio. as he recuffed Mercer. The thought that there were large gaping holes in the sensor grid was very disconcerting and a testament to Parsnips lack of leadership. Security had been very lax during, and possibly corrupted. Bought out security personnel et. cetra. And this would have to be addressed. The Andorian was right to be suspicious. His brow furrowed as he addressed Kova. "Given the nature of this tech, how long do you think this has been here? How easily adaptable would it be to implement in other areas?" Oh, the idea they would have to search for these holes within the personal quarters was going to open a whole new can of worms. Not to mention privacy issues. That's a problem for the JAG. But as security enforcing it, he and his would be on the front lines taking the brunt of any upset. That's when Kaya appeared. "Ya. A kind of off shoot technology of sorts I think. We've found a hole in the sensor net. Can you locate the device that is causing this and take it down?" he asked the Trill. Mercer, being the person he was, still nervous, gave the engineer a wink and a little pantomimed kiss. "Hey there...." [NPC - Kova Sh'qaleq - Deck 9, Promenade, Front Ear Station] "How easily would it be to implement?" Kova repeated. She slowly shook her head. "I doubt that anyone crept around in the middle of the night to plant this. The best way to do anything around this station is with a uniform like yours." Kova pointed at Sven. "On a Federation station, no one is going to stop Starfleet and ask them what they're doing, much less to show them a work order. Would you if you saw someone changing an illumination rod?"She doubted it, and hoped that the security officers would be honest with themselves. "Honestly, they could be anywhere," Kova said. "Though I suppose there are probably some areas more likely than others."Mercer's actions towards the newly arrived Trill hadn't gone unnoticed. Her brow furrowed slightly frustrated. "What is your deal? Kova shot. "You went from terrified to pusillanimous to lascivious in less than three seconds. It was really her place to say anything, and she certainly didn't have any authority in this matter. Still, Andorian's weren't exactly known for holding their tongues.

[ Kaya Som | Deck 9, Promenade ]Kaya scoffed at Mercer. Vek'tema, why were human men so much? Kaya intended to give him none of her time, but appreciated the Andorian rounding on him. Elders bless the Andorians. She pointedly turned her shoulder to square up with the helpful people. "Yea, that'd be my guess, a locally generated disruption," she said, having none of the information. "If the area of affect is narrow, it can't be remote - the grid's not that granular. You can't just disable a small section that way." She took out her technical tricorder and started a sweep to find the area of effect. "Brilliant, it's, like, right there. Hm! Yea, I mean... why just there, but..." The scrubby human was probably the cause. Kaya turned in place having scanning around on a different setting. Not as if she planned to see a little blinking bug glued to the ceiling, but rather any panels or grates where a device could be hidden. "Thing's not going to be much larger than a fist... could be hidden from normal sensors."

And heaven knows how many uniforms went missing under Parsnips tenure. Easy to slip in. And you're right. No one would ask questions. Until now."Mercer was eyeing the Trill, and Sven had had enough. He cuffed the man from behind his head. "Enough."Mercer grunted. "I'm not scared of you." he stuttered, "my friends will see to that."Sven rolled his eyes. "Your friends are anything but. You, are disposable trash and you got caught. They won't lift a finger to help you now." he said. "Crewman," he turned to the Trill, "It's of utmost importance that you find that device. Rio, I will need your help. We will need to keep this compartmentalized for now. I will talk to Eastman about changing up patrols to include checking credentials for anyone wearing a uniform."
He should take this to Rayh, but he wasn't too sure if he could trust her completely with a conspiracy. He'd let Judy make that call. "Kova, I know you are not Star-fleet, and something tells me that you were hurt by it. I don't know your history. But I can see talent. I'd like to pay you as a consultant. A civilian operator that would assist with cleaning things up here. I'll also talk to Eastman about this if you so choose."He was making hard choices and was worried that this breech in the chain of command. He didn't like the idea of keeping Rayh out of the initial proceedings. But he needed to talk to one person he could absolutely trust. He stepped aside and clicked his combadge =A= "Open a secure channel to commander Eastman-Williams. Commander this is Aune. I have reason to believe that we have a mole within the ranks. I also have reason to believe that a number of uniforms have been confiscated and are now being used clandestinely to help these criminals move about undetected. I have not informed the chief of security. I know I should but I want to bring this up to you as I know you and trust you. I would request that the credentials of all security on board is verified, and we begin sweeps of all personnel wearing uniforms to provide their credentials." =A=

|Promenade|While the technological part of the technology was a bit over Rio's head, well, all right, a lot over Rio's head...she just didn't have a knack for numbers, and frankly, they made her head hurt. Still, she understood the Security implications for all the tech breeches as much as Sven did, and wholeheartedly agreed with his recommendations. Then there was the matter of the device that was creating all the trouble with the sensor fields, and Mercer's fidgeting gave her an idea. "Could what you're looking for be portable?" she suggested, "I mean, you said it was small, but...maybe small enough to fit on a person?"That would certainly make it portable, hard to detect, easy to dispose of in a pinch, and useful just about wherever it was needed. Of course, that didn't mean such technology could exist in that small a form, but it would explain why Mercer seemed to nervous. Sven AuneIsaiah QuinnKaya SomJudith Eastman

[Turbolift]"I'm Matt," Harmon replied bluntly as Fells asked who he was, seemingly unhappy with his presence. He hardly cared what the traitor thought about him, it was of no consequence. He was doing his best to help Fells partner, Fells opinion on it, or indeed anything else, hardly mattered to the reserved intelligence officer. "I'm not sure," he replied to the man who seemed to be a doctor, or at least far more qualified than he was at this. He was relieved at the mans presence, whoever it was, though he was kicking himself for not paying attention to the space of the contractions.
Harmon was now in an even more uncomfortable position. The doctor, or nurse was there, far more useful for the medical side of things than he was and now so was Fells who could provide more support and comfort than Harmon could leaving him unsure what to do. He couldn't just walk away and leave Lea, but he was hardly any help. He pressed the hold button on the turbolift to stop it trying to leave in the middle of the situation, he briefly felt satisfied with his tiny contribution before feeling useless again.

She didn't want to start sweeps of her security personnel - no, that'd cause witch hunts and give the real perps a head start. That was a bad idea. However, there was something else - every uniform had a commbadge, which all but held the outfit together. No one trusted an officer without a commbadge. And each commbadge was registered to an individual in the database, and re-registered on a regular basis. What's more, commbadges were always tracked by the computer, and all kinds of subsystems. Yes, they could use that. "Ensign Hudson," she addressed the young Intelligence Officer. "We have a number of stolen uniforms, and probably unregistered commbadges, wandering around on the station. Do you have any ideas as to how we could deal with those quickly?"Judy, as an engineer, had her technological solution, but she wanted to see if Hudson would arrive at the same, or different, solution. If she was an all-knowing individual, and all her ideas were the best ones, she wouldn't have needed any crew.

[Turbolift] Just before the doors opened Fells mused about the crime rate on the station. "I arrived today as well, got sucked into a crime, my girl friends bar has been broken into....seems like they have a real security prob...." The doors had slid apart to reveal noone else that said girl friend in a tell tale position. "Lea!" Fells almost screemed. "What are you doing?" Well maybe she wasn't doing this....He was down on all fours next to her reaching for her arm. "What's....are you giving birth?" Why would she not take the lift to sickbay? Out of all people the injured medic seemed to calm down (strange!) and help here, which Fells was thankful for. But who was the other guy, who was awefully close to Lea. "Who are you?" The doctor, or nurse was there, far more useful for the medical side of things than he was and now so was Fells who could provide more support and comfort than Harmon could leaving him unsure what to do. He couldn't just walk away and leave Lea, but he was hardly any help. He pressed the hold button on the turbolift to stop it trying to leave in the middle of the situation, he briefly felt satisfied with his tiny contribution before feeling useless again. [Petty Officer Kellen Gates - Turbolift]Kellen Gates looked from Strange Man, who said his name was Matt, to Mrs. Puzzles when both admitted to being a little fuzzy on the time lapsed between contractions. Had Kellen not just had his personal medical tricorder stolen, he would have been able to answer his own question. When Mrs. Puzzles gave him the estimate, and said she had the urge to push, he gave a little head bob-bow, and then moved to kneel in front of her. "May I?" He asked quietly, meaning of course that he wanted to check on her progress. With Fells next to the lady, and Matt moving toward the panel by the doors, there was enough space to grant a modicum of privacy. It wasn't ideal, but Leanna was too far along now to be transported to Sickbay, and moving her too much would not be recommended. Once the young medic discerned just how far along she was, he rocked back a little on his hunkers. "Well done, both of you," he said to both Mrs. Puzzles and her sometime birthing partner, Matt. "This baby would like to enter the world, and I believe we should allow him."It wasn't the first time Kellen Gates had done this, but it was the first time outside of a Sickbay. A light sweat broke out around his hairline, but a sort-of calm descended. He had pushed aside the assault on his person and compartmentalised it. He wanted all of his focus for Mrs. Puzzles and the incoming Little Puzzle. "Fells, I need your sweater," he said to the other man, looking at him for just a moment. Then to Leanna, he spoke with some reassurance. "Everything looks good, Mrs. Puzzles. The next time you feel like you need to push, I want you to go with it." With this being her second child, Kellen Gates knew that she would be less inclined to heightened panic, and that the baby would likely come a lot quicker than her first. "You'll do the hard part, and I will do the easy part and guide him as much as I can."

Kaya scoffed at Mercer. "Thing's not going to be much larger than a fist... could be hidden from normal sensors." Sven had to hand it to the Andorian. "A mole? Ya. That makes sense.
I would request that the credentials of all security on board is verified, and we begin sweeps of all personnel wearing uniforms to provide their credentials." =A=While the technological part of the technology was a bit over Rio's head, well, all right, a lot over Rio's head...she just didn't have a knack for numbers, and frankly, they made her head hurt. [NPC - Kova Sh'qaleq - Promenade, Deck 9, Front Ear Station] Finally. Someone that spoke her language. Kova nodded as the Trill crewman gave her report to the security officers. "It also turns out that they have to be physically triggered to be active," Kova told her. She gestured towards Mercer. "He actually activated some sort of trigger on either side of that grate there, which actually houses a drop site." That would certainly make tracking them difficult since she'd only detected it, or heard it rather, once it was active. "I'm sure once you get to study it, you'll figure out a way to track it in its dormant state."Kova had only allowed her mind to wonder for a few seconds before she offered a suggestion. "Perhaps you could figure out the right frequency to activate them remotely," she stated. "Once you've done that, you could just use your tricorder to scan for audible frequencies within the Andorian hearing range. There were likely other decibel ranges that would work, but at least they knew the Andorian one was a confirmed range. She thought briefly about Rio's suggestion that such a device could be portable. "It's possible," she stated. "Though that person would likely only be worried about avoiding sensors in an area. It wouldn't protect them from someone physically seeing them. A true cloaking device requires a great deal of power." It was why most cloaked vessels couldn't operate shields or weapons with the device activated. Kova finally turned back to Sven. She heard him out, as well as his offer. She thought about it, and her mind couldn't help but turn over a variety of conspiracies. Had he not considered the possibility that she was the mastermind behind all of this, and that he was simply inviting her into his circle, granting her access to information that could keep her in power indefinitely. Or perhaps, he was the mastermind, and this was just a test to see if she would divulge everything she knew whether she was involved or not. Or even the Trill, as clever as she was, could be sitting idly by and watching, yet waiting to foil their investigation at any point. And then there was Rio. Oddly enough, Kova felt she could trust Rio. Despite the number of theories racing through her mind, he was right. Starfleet had burned her once before. Perhaps it was adolescent foolishness that had made her want to belong to that group. To where that uniform and badge with pride. Kova exhaled. "A consultant," she repeated. "I may be interested, but not without... conditions."

[turbolift- Fells Halgerdur]
It suddenly hit him like a ton of bricks. Lea was giving birth! Now! In the elevator! Weeks too early! Outside of a sickbay with strangers present..but at least on the day of his arrival and almost-arrest! It was hard t wrap his mind around it but he finally did and snapped for air. "Oh my goodness....he's coming now!"As Lea squeezed his hand he moved his body towards the back of the elevator to support her head like a cushion with his knees. "Squeeze as hard as you can. Whatever you need, baby."Adrenalin kicked in hard. Fells was stunned, baffled but also giddy at the same time. On top of that he was endlessly thankful for Kellen's presence. The stare, that the other guy gave him, he didn't care about, right now. When the young medic asked him for his shirt, he briefly broke the physical connection with his loved one and wound his hand out of her grip. Then he struggled to quickly get out of his sweater. Underneath he was only wearing a t-shirt but that was okay. Fells handed the thick fabric to Kellen and then took Leas hand again. "You got this, Lea."He then briefly turned his attention on the other man, who looked a little helpless. "Call sickbay and inform them....please." He had picked up on the hostility in his voice, yet he tried his best to be friendly.

[ Leanna - Turbolift, Deck 29] The expectant mother, was sure that she had heard Harmon answer both Fells and Kellen, but like everything else going on, she seemed to fade it all out, as the pain increased and she kept hold of Fells's hand. Then just like that, it was over once more, giving her that moment of rest, until her body would tell her, to start all over again. In that time, she was able to focus on Kellen, as the medic asked if he could check on her and yes their surroundings wasn't ideal, but even she knew the importance for him to do so. Besides it was little late to be embarrassed as she nodded, her acknowledgement. As he checked her over, Lea was aware of Fells moving to support her more, which she fully appreciated. Then the Betazoid managed a smile as Kellen told her and Harmon, well done and how the baby was ready to meet everyone. She had no problem with that, not that she could stop it and it was Fells's enthusiastic response to the news, that made her look in his direction. His support and encouragement, meant everything as he told her to squeeze as hard as she wanted and to do whatever she needed. " Don't worry, I will" she said, thinking she was rather calm, with that particular response, as Kellen then asked him for his sweater. Although her attention was back onto the medic, when he too became just as encouraging, with his instructions. Happy to hear that everything was looking good and knew what she had to do. " Okay and I'm glad you're here Kellen" she replied, as Fells then resumed holding her hand, after handing the medic, his sweater and told her that she had got this. Now it was time to deliver her son safely, taking a few deep breaths, as Fells spoke to Harmon and let her body, take over once more, signalling to those with her, that this could very well be the final push. Squeezing even harder than before on Fells's hand as nature did what it did best and she pushed.

[ SCPO Melihn Ryah - Brig - Chief's Office] =/\= Oh, yes, Ryah responded promptly with a small amount of vindictive pleasure in her tone. Mr. Fatax is under arrest and being held in the brig. Dig into anything you need to. I was actually just looking at his holdings myself. He's compounded his problems by resisting arrest and assaulting me while I was taking him into custody.
In fact, let me know if I can do anything else to help you. =/\= Ryah returned to her computer display, scrolling through the Ferengi's various properties, cargoes, employees. It all looked legitimate on the surface, but Ryah was highly doubtful that that was truly the case.

Hudson nodded and followed the Commander obediently into the Security Offices. The Commander had a point, though Hudson was in a difficult position, he training and indeed the environment working in Intelligence had a very different mindset, making it hard to adapt to the Commanders more...collaborative approach.
Tag: Judith Eastman Ozu Saya [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Security Offices]Judy tapped her fingers when she remembered something. =A= "Actually, I sent Lieutenant Harmon out a little bit ago to investigate a compromised equipment locker. Could you check up on him? And maybe also send a crew to apprehend our mole, Petty Officer Trelech bim Nonch?" =A= she requested. She then turned to Hudson. "I completely forgot about your boss," she pointed out, though that was understood. "You know, the memory starts to go at this age."=A= "Open a secure channel to commander Eastman-Williams. Commander this is Aune. I have reason to believe that we have a mole within the ranks. _____________ Tags Isaiah Quinn Rio Sosa Kaya Som Judith Eastman Judy sighed at the call. As if this thing didn't have enough moving parts. =A= "I'm afraid we've already found the mole, and I'll try to implement a solution to the stolen uniforms. You figure out the sensor issue, as quickly as possible, and report back to me once that's done." =A= The gears in the older woman's head began to turn.

Hudson stood in silence for a moment in deep thought, contemplating possible solutions. She again felt as though she were being tested by some sort of teacher. It felt patronising but at the same time she felt oddly comfortable, like the Commander was attempting to mentor the young Ensign, something she was grateful for now that she had overcome her initial hostility to the Commander's attitude. "Facial recognition? We could match the faces of those in uniform to our service records?" she suggested, unsure of any better way other than manually auditing the uniforms and hunting them down which would be a mammoth task. Facial recognition was an invasion of privacy indeed but in Hudson's mind it was necessary for a more secure, safer society. After all it was Starfleet that had access to it and Starfleet served the people of the Federation and prided itself on its moral integrity. It was hardly the same as when the Romulan's did it against their citizens.

[Turbolift]Fells appeared to be grinding his teeth and appearing civil now. His request made sense, and Harmon again kicked himself in disappointment that he hadn't thought to try comms again now that the lift was working comms might also be again. =/\= Lieutenant Harmon to Sickbay. We have a medical emergency on Deck...at my location, Leanna Mazal is going into labour. =/\=He hadn't realised that he wasn't entirely sure which deck or where they had ended up. Though it had not actually been that long, the turbolift incident felt like it had been hours.
