[ Leanna & Seamus - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] " It was no trouble at all Fells, I couldn't not help you both and I just wish you hadn't arrived home to this" Seamus replied sadly, as Fells then looked over at the damage caused, part of him hoping that Lea wouldn't want to see it just now, at least not until they were allowed to go in. Lea could easily pick up on Seamus's concern and agreed with his comment about it not being quite the welcome home that she had planned. Instead she tried to look anywhere but at the bar, as a mixture of emotions ran through her mind. Wondering why someone would want to do this, after all of their hard work. Although when Fells then attempted to cheer her up, she did manage a smile. "You got me there Babe, but Shay is right, this isn't how I envisaged you coming home".She knew that she had to be strong, but this was just devastating to the Betazoid and that was before she even stepped foot in the bar. As Fells then asked Seamus, what the thieves could of been after, she focused on that as the Irishman answered. " I'm not sure, we haven't been able to check yet" he admitted honestly, before the two security officer's approached. The Bar Owner acknowledged the one wearing Lieutenant pips, as he asked who the owner was, what happened and to give them every detail since their arrival. " I'm the Owner and I've just got here, after getting the call from my manager" she replied as she indicated Seamus, who took over answering the rest of the questions. " Myself and a couple of others from the Bar staff, arrived as normal to open up and start the daily preparations, however when we got here, we noticed that someone had managed to bypass our security system and got inside, causing extensive damage to the bar area, we haven't checked anywhere else or what has been taken, as I then notified Leanna here and put the call into Security".

[Blue Beta Bar & Grill-Fells Halgerdur]
Fells stood back as security arrived. There was one very large fellow leading the investigation and a smaller woman, who seemed to follow his lead. Clearly Fells didn't want to get mixed up with any problems, so he remained quiet as they discussed what had been found so far. His own 'arrival' had become second to the need to investigate what had happened at the bar and hopefully get it up and running soon. Fells could clearly sense how emotional Lea was about all of this. Perhaps she had her Betazoid connection open to him. His eyes connected with her as he assure her that 'we'll take care of it...calm down!' He would personally, if security wasn't competent on this station. The only thing he added was "I think I know how the security system was by passed." He pointed to the hole in the security glass that was big enough to drop a drone or device into the bar, that could then be used to access the security features from the inside.

| Briefing room 1, Deck 3 || lt. Sven Aune |The large man sat at the table. As much as he loved Max's cooking, especially his Rugelach, he was training for a competition and that meant an extremely strict diet. And he was lamenting that today was not his cheat day. Commander Eastman had opened the meeting with the crime report, and it was upsetting. Organized crime on this station would not be a good thing and it was personally something he wouldn't tolerate. If it was just petty theft, then that was something else. He took a glass and filled it with water from the pitcher laid out on the table. Chief Petty officer had called for a think tank. "I've begun investigations into the actual reporting itself. And it seems like many of the logs were altered. A number of ghost I.D's were used to conceal the identities of the culperets along with which terminals they accessed. I would like to requisition someone from the sciences. Someone with a background in security programming."
"I have also instructed my unit to work in pairs and begin routine sweeps along the Promenade as well as cargo storage areas. I've asked a number of engineering personnel to compile a list of potential "hidey holes" in the station where illicit goods, and activities might be happening."
Sven paused for a minute. "I've also started talking to business owners and establishing our presence with them. To foster goodwill and trust. I feel like those things were lacking under the previous commander's command."
________ Tag Judith Eastman @thebaker40 @ozusuya @jacklax Rio Sosa [Briefing room 1, Deck 3]Sitting at the table with the others at the briefing, Rio eyed the treats, and as soon as leave was given to help themselves, she grabbed one, taking a bite as she listened to the others talk about the crime situation on the station. The goodies were yummy, and she only wished she had some espresso to go with it, a perfect pairing with the rich dessert. Of course, she knew about the petty stuff going on around the station, she'd been dealing with it on duty, and it was getting to be annoying and time consuming, and when there was a brief lull in the comments, she spoke up. "I'd suggest keeping the appearance that Security is still incompetent," she commented, "if we come on strong, it's liable to send the problem children underground, then we'll never find out who's causing the problems." She shrugged, speaking some from experience. "Keep an eye on them, maybe even let some of the petty stuff go for a while, then come in and do a sweep."Certainly, if they cracked down and arrested one, the others would go into hiding, and sure, the problem might be solved on the short term, but the parasites were still there. Judith Eastman Ozu Saya Sven Aune [Briefing Room]
Harmon entered the room somewhat late, just after the Commander had entered. Before taking his seat, he took one of the pastry looking things moving to find a seat as distant as he could. It tasted better than he expected, chocolate was one of his favourite foods, after all.
He appeared largely inattentive as the Commander and then security began to talk. It wasn't really out of any sort of disdain or disrespect towards them as individuals, but rather his disdain for this posting. He was however, paying more attention than he looked, the talk of illicit goods made him ponder if there was anyone selling Romulan Ale. Harmon's supply of the contraband was quickly diminishing. "Half my department have qualifications in security programming," he said with a blasé tone. Of course, 'half' of his department meant one person, and she was an Ensign fresh out of the academy. Nevertheless, she seemed competent and was certainly keen and energetic to get some responsibility and prove herself. Rather the opposite of Harmon. "My department could provide some support...its not like we're equipped to do much else at the moment."
Judith Eastman Ozu Saya Sven Aune Rio Sosa [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Briefing Room 1, Deck 3, Front Ear Station]Judy sat and listened, aware that she was perhaps the least astute person here in security affairs. For all her years of service, degrees, and decorations, she knew her job was to facilitate them. She even took notes, using another physical notebook. "First of all, thank you all for your perspectives. We might not roll with all your ideas, but that doesn't mean any ideas were bad," she prefaced her words, giving a little smile to all of them. "I'd say presenting the facade of incompetence, while it could help us entrap the criminals, presents a whole different problem: we need our civilians to feel secure, and to know we care for them, so they'll stay here and keep this community thriving. If we let them feel that we're still neglecting them, our civilian population will shrink to just my daughter."The little infusion of humor, Judy felt, was necessary, to soften the blow. "That being said, Ms. Sosa, you have a point. These criminals are wily, and evidently have access deep into our system, so if we shoot, we'd best not miss. We'll need to overpower and outsmart them, and we'll need to use a lot of resources for that. Mr. Harmon, I'd like as much of your department's resources as you can give."Judy was about to hand it off to the Chief of Security, to let her process everything down from the First Officer's high-level directives towards the ground level, when they were disrupted by a call. =BB= This is Seamus Flanagan, from the Blue Beta Bar and Grill, requesting Security as it looks as though we've had some kind of break in, there's some substantial damage and unsure at the moment, if anything has been taken =BB= [ Senior Chief Melihn Ryah - Briefing Room 1, Deck 3, Front Ear] Ryah took notes on her PADD as her people made their suggestions, nodding occasionally at a few of the ideas. I'll take your ideas under advisement. For now, we'll increase patrols and keep our presence very visible around the station.

"Ma-bel!" she called out. "Please join us for a bit."The eager young yeoman came out of the office, joining her boss. "As I was saying, I'm personally inclined to have security focus on policing and sleuthing, so if we can second as much of Intelligence to cyber-sleuthing as possible, that would be optimal," the older woman continued her point, resuming the fast walk into the turbolift. ||En Route Blue Beta Bar and Grill || It was hard not to be curious about what damage may have been done to the small cafe, or why someone would target that place in particular, but Rio supposed that they would find out soon enough, although chances were pretty poor that they'd find anything helpful, unless the place had functioning security systems, something they'd have to check on station-wide. Senors and cameras were sort of basics, and would go a long way toward stopping the crime. It was a wonder, really, that the station was even still functional, between the previous admin's incompetence and lackadaisical protocols. "At least we're not chasing deadly ferns," she muttered with a chuckle as she fell in beside Aune, then he asked about her service and she shrugged. "About six years, but this is my first assignment that I hope to be permanent, I mean, more than a couple months. I think once we get a hand on things, it's going to be a great place!" As they stepped into the bar and grill, she stopped beside the Lieutenant and shook her head. Someone had had a good time here, and she had to wonder if it was strictly vandalism for the sake of 'fun' or if there had been a specific goal. I haven't been here long, but I think commander Parsnip was running three cylinders shy of a four banger." he joked making a reference of old internal combustion engines that Earthlings used in the 19th to 21st centuries. The bar owner stepped forward along with the manager and he extended a hand to foster good will in this disparaging time. "I'm lieutenant Aune and this is ensign Rio. I am sorry that this happened. You came in this morning and saw the break in. Did you see anything outside the usual last night? Do you perhaps have internal security footage? We, of course, will consult the security holo recorders here around the promenade."Then a scruffy, built guy spoke. He seemed to know how the security system was bypassed. Sven shook his hand as well and listened and looked where he pointed. "Mr. Halgerdur." he said. Sven had recognized the man from a security report. He was on probation recently released from a penal colony. Sven's PADD chirriped. He glanced at it. Then he motioned Fells to come close as he stepped away from the group. He spoke to the man in a very quiet whisper as to ensure that this would remain private between the large security officer and him. "You need to check in with you parole officer. I'll give you 24 hours to do so. If you forget, I'm sorry to say, you will have to spend some time in the brig."He returned back to the group. "Mr. Halgerdur has a theory here, and I think it's worth listening to. Would you care to share?" he said, making it seem that their private were discussing how the break-in happened and preserving dignity. Fells happenstance arrival and the break-in were circumstantial, and Sven wasn't about to jump to conclusions based on circumstantial evidence. ________ Tags Rio Sosa Thea Baker Fells Halgerdur

[ Leanna & Seamus - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] Leanna was aware how Fells suddenly stood back when Aune and his associate arrived and began asking questions. Not suprising and understandable, given the circumstances and how he had just been released from a penal colony. Although she did appreciate his use of their connection in another attempt to calm her, which made her look towards him. Okay his choice of words could of been a little softer, but at least he had tried. However it was easier said than done and could already feel a painful twinge somewhere in the region of her abdomen. Shaking it off as she focused on the security officers, especially when Fells then pointed out how the thieves had bypassed the bar's systems. That made her appreciate him even more, at how he was using his skills and squeezed his hand to show him that, before Aune introduced himself and Sosa and reached out to shake hands. Both her and Seamus responded to this friendly gesture, as Lea then returned the introductions. " I wish it was under happier circumstances for us to meet properly, but I'm Leanna Mazal and this is Seamus Flanagan, who will be able to answer that for you, as I left early last night but as for the security footage, yes we do have that and it's located in my office" she replied, as Seamus then answered what she couldn't. " I didn't see anything unusual, when I was closing up, then again we were quite busy so it was possible I might of missed something".Lea looked towards her Manager, knowing that this wasn't easy for them, before Aune then spoke with Fells, curious as to why he was led away for a moment. However a rather active baby was making himself known and she was ready to sit down. But held on as they returned and asked Fells to share his theory about what he had found.

"The boss' cooking isn't bad is, it?" Harmon said quietly to the Chief, continuing to eat the delicious pastry. He clapped his hands together and stood up, ready to walk and talk if that wasn't going to be too hard on the sexagenarian commander's back. "To be frank, my department doesn't have many capabilities at the moment. I've got two staff, one of which is an Ensign fresh out of the academy. She is, an expect in computer security, however. She's an annoying little sh...uh, she's just a bit uhh forthright," he said catching himself before he swore. "The other, is from what I can tell so far pretty much useless and incompetent," he paused. "Anyway, we've not been briefed on the specific issues, so I'm not certain where we can specifically help but I'm sure I can be of some assistance," he had been focused on sorting out the many issues of the meagre Intelligence Department and so hadn't bothered to request any reports. [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Ens. Mabel Henriksen - Briefing Room 1 -> Passageways -> Turbolift]Judy initially sat and listened, and then stood up as the Intelligence officer did the same, continuing to listen. "Let's walk and talk," she told them, her accent on the words "walk" and "talk" showing a hint of Noo Yawk and warning the youngsters of what she was capable of. She set off, handbag in hand, walking with the rapid stride of a native Manhattanite. "There are fundamentally going to be three major tasks, I'd expect: patrols, investigations, and computer work. It sounds like your Ensign could support the computer angle, and perhaps we can press yourself into there as well?" she spoke, effortlessly speed-walking towards the doors of her office. "Ma-bel!" she called out. "Please join us for a bit."The eager young yeoman came out of the office, joining her boss. "We're going to a crime scene, my dear.""Okay, ma'am," Mabel acknowledged hesitantly. "As I was saying, I'm personally inclined to have security focus on policing and sleuthing, so if we can second as much of Intelligence to cyber-sleuthing as possible, that would be optimal," the older woman continued her point, resuming the fast walk into the turbolift. "Don't you think?"As she used the buttons to order the lift down, Judy relished this casual show that, for a heart patient and a grandmother of 5, she was in very good shape.

I don't have too many people with skills in those fields. As they headed out of the briefing room, Ryah had to trot to keep up with the other two officers, but she was in prime form, so the extra speed barely elevated her heart rate. She raised a brow at the young woman who joined them (the commander's assistant?), but figured Commander Eastman had her reasoning. That sounds reasonable. I'll work up a new duty roster after we check out this break-in, Ryah said as the turbolift whisked them off to the promenade. This is the first one on the main promenade. A few other businesses have had their doors tagged or attempts to break in, but this one sounds bad. She shook her head as the turbolift slowed to a halt and opened to let them proceed down the main thoroughfare to the Blue Beta Bar & Grill. It appeared the glass protecting the place had been cut, and rather smoothly at that, though there was a small thing snagged upon it. "Mabel, I need you to take notes for me," she ordered, eyeing the young woman who nodded and retrieved a PADD. Judy then approached the group. "Commander Judy Eastman, First Officer," she introduced herself. She then waited to be updated.

[Blue Beta Bar & Grill- Fells Halgerdur] More and more personell arrived at the bar. Now it was senior chief Ryah. Fells momentarily got distracted by Leas expression...or was it a sensation through their connection? He looked at her with questioning blue eyes, when suddenly the security officer, who was built like a brick ...house, took him aside. For a second he held his breath without realizing it. How did that guy know his name? Hearing that Aune knew who he was and probably what he had done, made him remember the tracker. He briefly turned his wrist up where a small scar marked where he had received the prison colony tracker. Apparently it was still active and used for probation. "Don't worry. I will." He assure him under his breath. Thankful that Aune made it sound like they had discussed the break in, he took a deep breath and then motioned to the window again. Another noteworthy person made her appearance now: The First Officer herself. Fells had to do a double take. Obviously the break in was being taken very seriously....which made him want to get out of there as quickly and under the radar as possible. "The hole they cut in the safety glass is big enough to insert a drone or other device. Since this is a Jaque 3.15 security system, you need something to dock the security panel, which is not near the door. I'd say someone with some programming skills did this or..." he looked around and spotted the security panel behind the bar. The mirror close by was broken into a thousand pieces. "...or they modified a pulse rifle to emit a directional low-level EMF?"He pursed his lips rather pleased with his own conclusions.

| Blue Beta Bar and Grill |Observing and listening, that was what Rio excelled in, at least in situations like this where she was the junior person here, and new, so it was better to just take things in, and then weigh in later, if she had anything to 'weigh in' with! The drone theory was quite plausible, she thought, and that was yet another testament to how lax Security was with the prior administration and how much work they had to get things back on track. And there was a good reason to not be an officer! All she had to do was what she was told, and that wasn't going to be unraveling this mess and getting things functional again. "Has there been anything like this before?" she finally asked, "I mean, if this is a new sort of break-in, maybe this was just a trail run for something bigger?" And there were certainly more lucrative targets on the station, so once they had their technique perfected, whoever was behind this could get away with a big haul.

|Blue Beta Bar and Grill || lt. Sven Aune | Sven remained passive but pensive as Fells spoke. It was a sound theory and he appreciated the insight. A drone that could pop the lock so to say. The question was, which way did the glass fall. He eyed it again. Then ensign Rio weighed in. Once again he listened, trying to gather in what happened. He could see the proprietors and their state of dismay and his heart went out for them. A breaking and entry was a direct violation into some ones dreams and hard work. "Commander Eastman." he greeted as the senior officer stepped forward. "As you can see the Blue Beta Bar and Grill was broken into last night. We have just started asking questions and begun the investigation. As you can see, there was drone sized hole cut into the glass and Mr. Helgerdur has offered up a theory. I believe it is a sound one. We may need to bring in a forensics team."Though when the chief of security approached, it sounded like she was blaming the ex-convict for the crime. He inwardly groaned. So much for fostering good will. He however did not say anything as it would have undermined the command structure. Perhaps later he would ask for clarification. But she did have one good point. All unessential people needed to clear out. _________ Judith Eastman Ozu Saya Fells Halgerdur Rio Sosa Thea Baker

[ Leanna & Seamus - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] It wasn't long before they were joined by the First Officer and three other Starfleet Officer's recognising one as the Security Chief. As Judy made her introduction, Lea nodded respectively before Fells then shared his theory with them all. Listening intently, whilst ignoring the discomfort that she was in and was glad that Fells was here, using his knowledge and experience to what sounded as a very plausible theory. She had never once doubted that and conveyed that through their link. Hoping that it would be taken into consideration, despite the fact that he was no longer a serving member of the fleet. The Betazoid then looked to Crewman Sosa as she added her own thoughts to this mess and whilst disturbing to think about, again it was no doubt something for the experts to look into. " Not here at least" Lea added, as the Security Chief approached and shared her sympathy, before requesting for any people that shouldn't be here to vacate the area until her officers had finished checking everything out. That was understandable and Lea had no issue with sending her staff away for the time being and knew that either her, Seamus or both of them could remain if needed. " Thank you and certainly I can clear my staff, would you need myself or my Manager to remain here?" she asked, as Ryah then focused on Fells. Realising that they were obviously aware of who he was, Lea knew it was a reasonable and fair question to ask as she held onto her Partner's hand so she could be supportive. If she was to be sent away, she thought of perhaps hiding out at Brooke's cafe until they were cleared to return, but part of her needed to see inside and start figuring out the tidy up. That was in the hands of Starfleet as Aune then gave his report to Commander Eastman.

[Blue Beta Bar - Fells Halgerdur]
Contributing a theory about how the security system was bypassed felt good, almost like old times. Fells was an expert in this field and he had personally installed that same system in Leas former restaurant.
The broad shouldered officer seemed to receive the information well but Fells could see some irritation on Senior Chief Ryahs face.
Then she suddenly asked him how he was involved with this. It was the Icelanders turn to stiffen because it was pretty obvious that she had also been alerted of his 'status'. There was more though. She seemed to think he was somehow 'involved' in the crime....or did she mean the bar?
Fells became defensive. "I'm the owners boyfriend." His expression became hard. "Other than that I have no involvement. I literally just set foot on this station for the first time ever half an hour ago." He was starting to feel nervous, thanks to six months in prison, which he never wanted to repeat for his and Leas sake.
