|Blue Beta Bar and Grill |"Ya. Looks like we might be able to get a DNA sample from that. Can you keep looking around to see if there is anything out of place. I'd also like to review the security footage as well." "Flicky-flakes?" Rio's nose wrinkled up as she peered at the white stuff, glad that she had an excuse not to touch it! "Pretty bad if that's someone's dandruff," she couldn't help but chuckle, then she shrugged. "That's why I'm not into forensics! Let them handle that stuff!" And, of course, there was the added complication that this was a public place, and it would be hard to show that any residue was from the crime and not left from the business. "I'll see what I can find, there's plenty broken and pushed around, but even that can help us find out if this place as a deliberate target or just has bad fortune." Once all the bits were gathered they'd all have to get together and compare notes to help draw a conclusion so they could move on to who was responsible. "Sadly, I don't think we can count on previous reports to help compare to past incidents."Tags Judith Eastman Ozu Saya Sven Aune

[First Officer's Office]"Why would someone break into your bar? Why your bar and not say the Potato Bar or the Boutique?" he asked. He was unconcerned with the means of breaking in right now, Security would have that under control, no doubt. What they really needed to know was why, and what was stolen. Was it personal, was there something specific they were after or was it a more arbitrary decision?
Tag: Judith Eastman Thea Baker [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Ens. Mabel Henriksen- First Officer's Office, Deck 3, Front Ear Station]Judy mostly kept her attention on the statement, but occasionally glanced towards the family photo. It was a reminder of what was at stake here: the safety of her daughter. She listened to Leanna's statement, and Harmon's questions. "In the interest of being as thorough as we can, I'll add a few more questions to that. I hope it's not too overwhelming," she gently cut in, speaking in an even softer tone than usual. "Who else knew of your arrangement this morning? At what time did the bar close? Who had access to or knowledge of your security systems?"
"I'd also appreciate it if you could clarify, for the record, what is your relationship with... Fells?"Judy sat down at one of her ergonomic chairs. Through this all, Mabel silently recorded the statement. She was a good yeoman, and that meant doing as she was told.
Tag: Thea Baker Matthew Harmon [ Leanna - First Officer's Office] It was Lieutenant Harmon who asked her a question first, leaving Leanna with the same sense of trying to understand, why it had been her bar that had been targeted, rather than some of the other businesses. Not that she would want to wish this on anybody else, as from what she had experienced so far, her fellow business owners worked too damn hard to make their establishments successful and she was honoured to be amongst them. As far as she knew she didn't have any enemies or perhaps those responsible, had simply chosen at random or maybe they saw her as a threat. Unfortunately she couldn't answer those questions, other than with honesty and bewilderment, until they could catch those who had done this to her. " I wish I knew Lieutenant, I don't know why the bar was targeted and why someone would want to do this to me" Lea answered honestly, feeling sick to the stomach as she tried to make sense of it. Then there was the continued niggles in her abdomen, which weren't helping at all, but she pushed that to one side, as she moved her hand across, hoping to reassure the child within. Her attention moving away from that as Judy's tone changed slightly as she informed Lea that she wanted to add to the questions asked by Harmon and how she hoped that it wasn't too overwhelming. " It's okay and a little but, they have to be asked".Listening as the First Officer began to ask what she needed to know, which at first, felt as though she was accusing one of her staff of being involved. However she would tell the truth, before she wanted to know what her relationship was to Fells. For a moment she felt winded by that, wondering if it was because of his record and if they were jumping to conclusions. No she was just being paranoid as she then spoke up and answered what had been asked. " The only people who knew about this arrangement was myself and Seamus, the bar closed at 11pm, as it usually does during the week and all of my staff have knowledge and access to the security systems"." [Blue Beta bar - Fells Halgerdur] His focus was now solely on Ryah and the technical theories of the break in. "Come with me." Fells waved her over to the controll panel that was installed behind the bar. He set a few bottles and glasses aside to get better access to it. Below it was a small computer console. He tapped on it but nothing happened. "Hm...doesn't work....maybe that impuls killed it." He then fumbled around to get a small card out of its core. It took him a moment but his fingers were too big. "My fingers are too big. Can you get the memory card out? It contains the video and audio files." He crosses his arms to stand back and look at the ceiling to see where the cameras had been installed. "You might get lucky and see someone in the far left corner if that camera up there, that's aimed at the door, has an angle that's wide enough." [ Senior Chief Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] Ryah followed the large man and peered at the control panel as he began fiddling with it. She was disappointed when the panel itself didn't come alive, but brightened when he revealed the memory card. She pulled it free, flipping it over to examine it. There were no external signs that anything was wrong with the small bit of tech, but it still could have been erased if some device had been used to disable the security system. I'll have someone check this out, and I'd like engineering to have a look at this panel before we do anything else with it. They might be able to tell us exactly what happened to it.
Excuse me for a moment. She tapped her combadge. =/\= Chief Melihn to Hugo. Lieutenant, I need an engineer to do a bit of sleuthing for me in the Blue Beta Bar on the promenade.Sure, Chief, the engineer's deep voice replied promptly. Here came another giant of a man for Ryah to deal with, but George Hugo was a good sort. I'll be up myself in a few minutes. Thanks, Lieutenant. =/\= Ryah turned back to Fells. That's a boon. If we can't have the chief engineer herself, her assistant is almost as good. And I think he has some previous experience in security or something. That'll be helpful.[Blue Beta Bar - Fells Halgerdur] Fells didn't think it was necessary to call in an engineer but he didn't voice his opinion. Instead he reminded himself that he was not part of security or even Starfleet anymore...he was just a....nobody. It took a while for the engineer to arrive so all he could do was sit on a chair and wait for the man. He let his gaze wander around to take in the details of the bar and restaurant, not so much the damage. It was the first time he saw it and he had to admit that Lea and her team had done a wonderful job on the interior design and decorations. It was stylish but still had a comfortable touch. Around them, the security was working hard to find evidence. The whole break in was handled with a lot of personel. Cheif Melihn didn't stand too far away from him so he looked at her from the side. She was concentrating on something. "I'm assuming you asked about my involvement and knew my name because you got an alert, right?" His voice was calm and low now so only she could hear him. "I used to work in security and know how these things work. But I can assure you, I'm not here to cause trouble or break any laws. On the contrary." The only thing he didn't know was who to go to for the regular check inns. "I'm supposed to check in with a parole officer today. Where do I go for that?"

I recognized your face from a security update that came across my desk. I was just surprised by your appearance under the circumstances. Ryah gazed at the ceiling for a moment. Given today's events, I think your partner needs your help and support. Consider yourself checked in for today. I'll look up who your parole officer is when I get to my office and send them an official notice. Just get down there within the next couple of days - Deck S4. She lowered her eyes to meet Fells'. I'm giving you a lot of leeway here. Don't abuse my generous nature, she said lightly. As Ryah and Fells spoke, a pair of Starfleet officers appeared at the doors, stopping just outside and setting down their equipment to examine the broken glass. One of them looked up at Sven and asked, Are you in charge of the investigation here?Right behind them, a giant blonde man arrived and stepped carefully around the group in the doorway, looking for the diminutive security chief. He spotted her standing next to a man in civvies and strode across the bar on long legs. Chief, what can I do for you? he said, stopping in front of them. Ryah straightened and looked up and up to meet George's eyes. Lieutenant, thanks for coming. The security panel is over here. I want you to check for anything that might have interfered with it.
Oh, this is Fells Hel- Damn it. How do you say your surname? I'm sorry.

Tag: Thea Baker Matthew Harmon [ Leanna - First Officer's Office] The questions that came next from Harmon, began to fray at her already shot nerves and fear about this whole ***** situation. Turning a normally calm Leanna into someone who was struggling to deal with the associated emotions, not to mention the emotions of those around her. The pregnancy had messed with her control a little and yet she knew that she couldn't just lash out at what was being suggested. No she had to remember that maybe just maybe this mess would help establish that relationship that she once had back on Sierra, but still she wasn't about to back down, with the Lieutenant, nor was she able to tell him something that she didn't have the answer for. " I don't know what's been taken, because I haven't been inside the bar as yet" she replied, with a hint of frustration. That was one of his questions answered, before Judy intervened in regards to her staff, by coming up with a solution that would satisfy Harmon. Of course she still didn't like the idea of them thinking it was one of her staff, but she would ensure that each of them cooperated in the investigation. The Betazoid did, however appreciate what Judy had done and her sincerity as the First Officer continued, before issuing orders. Lea was definitely ready to leave and get back to both Fells and the bar, as she then acknowledged what Judy had said. " Thank you, I'll make sure that they cooperate, yes it has been quite harrowing and stressful, but it was important for me to do this".Lea then took a moment to finish her remaining water, before attempting to get up, which she managed to do on the second try.

[Blue Beta Bar - Fells Halgerdur]
Fells was glad to have a quiet word with Ryah and learn about the security update, which she had received. Of course, he had had a lot of time to think about what would happen after his release. The clean slate wasn't so clean. No, their new beginning was lined with cobble stones in the form of a bad reputation and parole. Fells mostly felt bad for Lea though. The only way to evade this was to move somewhere that had no connection to the Fleet. But Lea had just made a new start for herself.
Ryah actually cut him some slack and allowed him to support Lea instead of checking in with his parole officer but she also warned him not to abuse the leeway, she had offered.
"Thank you, I appreciate it. You don't know me but I can assure you that I have learned from my mistake long before they sent me to prison. Lea is worth every bit of effort and hardship along the way."
More Starfleet officers showed up, which made Fells raise his brows. "I'm impressed how much staff you have here."
When a giant blonde man stopped near him and Ryah, she tried to introduce Fells but failed like many before. A lot of people didn't get his Icelandic name right, which he had gotten used to.
"My name is Hal-ger-dur..."He explained making sure that the 'g' in his name was pronounce as if it was at the end of a word like bi'g' "My guess is that the panel doesn't work because it was shut down by an impulse weapon. Your boss has the chip with the security camera recording on it. We keep it stored locally." Just to explain to the newcomer he added. "My partner runs this business."

I'm sorry.

The large man chuckled at the flickety flakes. It was pretty gross. Then again Sven didn't have to deal with that problem since he shaved his head. "Keep poking around ensign." he instructed. "mind that you don't upset any evidence."He continued to examine bits and pieces here and there near the strip of cloth and noticed the interactions between the chief of security and the ex-convict. Body language continued to speak of a more relaxed nature. Then another large dude came it. Sven was mildly pleased. Perhaps a future gym partner. Apparently he was engineering. His attention was then drawn to a duo of star fleet officers who entered the bar. They asked if he was in charge. He wasn't quite sure if he was, or not. But the senior officer was indisposed at the time. "I believe the chief of security is in charge, but she is indisposed at the moment." he said. "As you can see this establishment was broken into and our initial investigation has yielded a few items of suspect."He led them over to the strip of cloth. "As you can see, there is a torn strip of cloth, with what looks to be blood on it, and a large quanity of what looks like dandruff. So we decided to call the experts in."

[Blue Beta Bar - Fells Halgerdur] Fells was glad to have a quiet word with Ryah and learn about the security update, which she had received. Lea is worth every bit of effort and hardship along the way."More Starfleet officers showed up, which made Fells raise his brows.
We keep it stored locally."Just to explain to the newcomer he added. "My partner runs this business."[ Senior Chief Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar] Ryah smiled at Fells' words about Lea. He was a good guy. Hal-ger-dur, Ryah mouthed almost silently to herself, locking it into her memory. She waved the memory chip at George when Fells indicated it and gestured for George to have a look at the panel. The engineer nodded at the other man and stepped up to the panel, pulling a tricorder off his waist. He scanned the system and glared down at the device. Over the next few minutes, George fiddled around in the exposed relays under the screen with several small tools that fit better than his large hands into the cramped space. Finally he stepped back and looked between Fells and Ryah. So this was pretty scrambled by something. I couldn't pick up anything with the tricorder, but nothing seems to be wrong with the system itself. Do a hard reset and let me know if it doesn't come back up completely.
You can try to get data off that chip, but I'm afraid it may be too scrambled to retrieve. He offered a shrug. Sorry I can't do more about it right now. Fells Halgerdur "Flicky-flakes?" Rio's nose wrinkled up as she peered at the white stuff, glad that she had an excuse not to touch it! "Sadly, I don't think we can count on previous reports to help compare to past incidents." [ Senior Chief Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar] Ryah remained standing but leaned against the wall near Fells. She didn't want to interfere with the job her people were doing, but she did want to speak to George when he arrived. Yes, she answered Fells. [ Leanna - First Officer's Office] It was Lieutenant Harmon who asked her a question first, leaving Leanna with the same sense of trying to understand, why it had been her bar that had been targeted, rather than some of the other businesses. " The only people who knew about this arrangement was myself and Seamus, the bar closed at 11pm, as it usually does during the week and all of my staff have knowledge and access to the security systems"." As for my relationship with Fells, we've been together for almost 2 and a half years and he's the father of my unborn son".
tag Matthew Harmon & Judith Eastman [First Officer's Office]"How many staff do you have? I would like to talk to them," he asked as she explained that her staff all had knowledge of the security system. "Have you figured out what they've taken yet?" There had to be a reason for the break in at her bar in particular.
Although Harmon could hardly have a lower opinion of Fells, it didn't make sense for him to be involved, at least from what little they knew so far. He was a criminal who's greed and negligence in taking a bribe killed his crewmates. But he wasn't a thief, and the two were very different crimes. Not to mention his relationship with Lea.
Tag: Judith Eastman Thea Baker [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Ens. Mabel Henriksen - First Officer's Office, Deck 3, Front Ear Station]Judy was slightly taken aback by Harmon's very direct line of questioning towards Ms. Mazal. It was rather aggressive, she felt, towards someone who wasn't a suspect. She waved with her hand, as if telling him to cool down, before turning to the woman giving the statement. "I believe the business relations office has access to your payroll, somewhere in our files, which I can access. We can contact them directly for alibis," she stated, moving in this bureaucratic manner to protect the heavily pregnant woman. "Now, I imagine you'll want to rest. This must be a harrowing experience for you, so I appreciate you taking the time to speak with us all the more."Then, she turned to issue orders. "Mabel, I want you to look up her payroll. Prepare a list of her workers and send it to security, so they can reach out," she ordered. "Yes, ma'am," the assistant agreed. "Lieutenant, we can head back to the crime scene, and then head on to look at the cyber angle of this all."She suspected her interference wouldn't sit too well with the man, but it had to be done. Without the small businesses on the promenade, they had nothing.
Tag: Thea Baker Matthew Harmon [First Officer's Office]Harmon was surprised by Eastman's dismissive response, waving her hand at him. They were all on the same side, they all wanted to solve this break in. His questions, the thought, were fairly standard and reasonable given the circumstances. Still, he was overruled by his superior and saw no reason to push back. "Aye, ma'am," he replied reservedly as she wrapped up the interview and ordered they return to the scene. Hopefully Security had made some useful progress.

Skip all stops," =A= she ordered. "Lieutenant, I want to apologize for sweeping the rug out from under you," she said gently. "Your line of inquiry was valid, and under normal circumstances, perfectly good. However, you have to consider that Ms. Mazal is both a business owner who'd just been burgled, and a heavily pregnant woman. Having been that latter one, I can tell you that it alone makes you quite sensitive and emotional, and we can only imagine the emotional turmoil inside due to the former. What I'm saying is, we needed to be extraordinarily sensitive. Kiddie gloves."The turbolift began to slow, likely approaching its destination.

[ Leanna - First Officer's Office ----> Blue Beta Bar & Grill] Once she was out of Judy's office, Leanna could of easily of just sank against the bulkhead and let go of all of the emotions, currently fighting for dominance within her mind. Attempting to find some kind of balance to ignore them, the bar owner knew that she had to keep going, to push on and get back to not only the bar but Fells. Walking as fast as the niggles, backache and vigorous movements from her son would allow, Lea had managed to reach the nearest lift, holding back the tears as it took her back towards the Promenade. By the time it had reached its destination, the Betazoid was more composed than she had been, after the questions that had been asked during her interview. She didn't want to cause any concern or have Fells worry about her, so she had appear to be as normal as possible. Perhaps it was with sheer will and determination that allowed her to continue on. Never being more thankful to see the Blue Beta as she walked albeit a little more slowly along the pathway. Maybe she could still be of some use, especially if they hadn't discovered what had gone missing yet and she also wanted to see her office, to know if the offenders had found the safe and to also begin the process of calculating and replacing what had been damaged and taken. One thing that did make her happy was seeing Fells who appeared to be talking to Ryah, noticing as she entered that there were a few more people wearing Starfleet uniform and left them to work as she approached the pair. " I've finished giving my statement and Chief, would you like me to check my office to see if the thieves got access to that as well?".

Blue Beta Bar and Grill -> Deck 15 || lt. Sven AuneForensics had started their work, and they already had some preliminary leads. A name : Arnold Mercer, his place of employment and a possible location. But they would need more time with the strip of cloth. Rio was poking about looking for any other evidence. "Ensign Rio, we have a lead. Accompany me to the Twilight Hotel and Casino. We are looking for one Arnold Mercer. Let's bring him in for questioning. Bring a side arm just in case." he said to her. He hadn't been on the station long, but given that it was on the frontier, Sven suspected that it would be a bit more on the wild side so it wasn't outside the realm of possibility that Arnold may be armed and dangerous. He stepped out of the bar and quickly made his way across the promenade to the casino. He entered and found a hostess for the restaurant portion. "Oh, He's off duty at the moment. He typically works the late shift."Sven nodded and made his way out. He found a terminal "Computer, locate Arnold Mercer." he should have done this in the first place. The computer responded. "Deck 15, section 112"Sven thanked the computer and headed towards the turbolift. "Man, I hope he cooperates." he said to Rio as the sound of the turbolift whooshed around them. tags Rio SosaOzu Saya
