Blue Beta Bar and Grill -> Deck 15 || lt. Sven Aune"Ensign Rio, we have a lead. Accompany me to the Twilight Hotel and Casino. We are looking for one Arnold Mercer. Let's bring him in for questioning. Bring a side arm just in case." he said to her. "Aye, sir." Rio nodded, more than happy to be doing something a little more active than snooping around trying to figure out what was 'wrong with this picture'. "I have my phaser, all set!" Not that she wanted a fight, but she wasn't going back down if one started, or underestimate someone who might be guilty of a crime. She followed along to the casino, looking the place over as Sven asked about their target. It looked pretty nice here, a place she'd come back and visit off-duty some time. "Oh, He's off duty at the moment. He typically works the late shift."Sven nodded and made his way out. He found a terminal "Computer, locate Arnold Mercer." he should have done this in the first place. The computer responded. "Deck 15, section 112"Sven thanked the computer and headed towards the turbolift. "Man, I hope he cooperates." he said to Rio as the sound of the turbolift whooshed around them. "We can tag-team him if he doesn't." Grinning, Rio shrugged. "Unless he's got some extraordinary skills, we should be able to handle him, but yeah, it would be stupid to fight." As they rode the lift, she brought up Mercer's information on her PADD. "Thirty-six, divorced, three kids, they're on Earth with their mother...nothing exciting about the guy...no record."Well, they'd find out pretty soon what was going on. tags Sven Aune Ozu Saya [/quote] | Deck 15, Section 112 |

[First Officer's Office]Harmon was surprised by Eastman's dismissive response, waving her hand at him. They were all on the same side, they all wanted to solve this break in. His questions, the thought, were fairly standard and reasonable given the circumstances. Still, he was overruled by his superior and saw no reason to push back. "Aye, ma'am," he replied reservedly as she wrapped up the interview and ordered they return to the scene. Hopefully Security had made some useful progress.
Tag: Judith Eastman Thea Baker [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - First Officer's Office -> Turbolift]Judy motioned for Harmon to follow her and led him back to one of the turbolifts. =A= "Deck 8. Skip all stops," =A= she ordered. "Lieutenant, I want to apologize for sweeping the rug out from under you," she said gently. "Your line of inquiry was valid, and under normal circumstances, perfectly good. However, you have to consider that Ms. Mazal is both a business owner who'd just been burgled, and a heavily pregnant woman. Having been that latter one, I can tell you that it alone makes you quite sensitive and emotional, and we can only imagine the emotional turmoil inside due to the former. What I'm saying is, we needed to be extraordinarily sensitive. Kiddie gloves."The turbolift began to slow, likely approaching its destination.

Followed her into the turbolift. "I understand," he said nodding firmly. "I just wanted to get to the bottom of this as quickly and efficiently as we can," he paused, "But I see my mistake, I should have been more...empathetic," he acknowledged.

Fells saw her as soon as she entered the bar. His focus was instantly on her. Lea was the reason he was here, the reason to clean up is act.
He offered her a smile and a hug as soon as she reached him, Ryah and the engineer, who couldn't really do a whole lot.
"How are you?" He took her hand and held her back to force her to slow down and take a moment.
As she wanted to inspect her office, he nodded. "I'll come with you." He would later ask her what they had asked her.

[ Leanna - First Officer's Office ----> Blue Beta Bar & Grill] Once she was out of Judy's office, Leanna could of easily of just sank against the bulkhead and let go of all of the emotions, currently fighting for dominance within her mind. Attempting to find some kind of balance to ignore them, the bar owner knew that she had to keep going, to push on and get back to not only the bar but Fells. Walking as fast as the niggles, backache and vigorous movements from her son would allow, Lea had managed to reach the nearest lift, holding back the tears as it took her back towards the Promenade. By the time it had reached its destination, the Betazoid was more composed than she had been, after the questions that had been asked during her interview. She didn't want to cause any concern or have Fells worry about her, so she had appear to be as normal as possible. Perhaps it was with sheer will and determination that allowed her to continue on. Never being more thankful to see the Blue Beta as she walked albeit a little more slowly along the pathway. Maybe she could still be of some use, especially if they hadn't discovered what had gone missing yet and she also wanted to see her office, to know if the offenders had found the safe and to also begin the process of calculating and replacing what had been damaged and taken. One thing that did make her happy was seeing Fells who appeared to be talking to Ryah, noticing as she entered that there were a few more people wearing Starfleet uniform and left them to work as she approached the pair. " I've finished giving my statement and Chief, would you like me to check my office to see if the thieves got access to that as well?".

Although when he asked how she was and held her hand to prevent from moving, she understood that he wanted her to slow down a little and appreciated his concern. " I'm okay, its just the usual pregnancy grumbles" she replied, as he then mentioned that he would come with her to check out the office. Having him there would make it a lot easier as the Chief then agreed that she could. Although was mindful of what was said next as she told her not to go in, if anything had been disturbed as well as providing a list of any missing items, when she was able, after thanking Fells for his help. "Understood, I'm hoping it hasn't been but I will definitely get a list to you, if anything has been taking".With Ryah turning her attention to Judy and Harmon as they discussed their next steps, Lea led the way towards her office, giving herself a moment to take a deep breath, at the thought of what she might find inside. " I'm scared to go in Fells and I shouldn't be, I guess just seeing the damage to the bar and seating area, is making me anxious, in case they have gone looking for something in my office, not that I can think of what they would want".

[Blue Beta Bar-Fells Halgerdur]
The steps that led to the office were hard to climb for his pregnant girl friend. Fells was glad he wasn't carrying the baby because by now it had to be really uncomfortable.
When they reached the office and expressed her concern he put his hand up to make her wait. "Hold on a minute. It doesn't take a Betazoid to notice how much you're struggling and I got a weird sensation from you before. Let me go in first....and if you don't feel up for it, if something seems out of place, let Seamus do it."
He gave her a stern but loving look and then entered the office first.
In here not much seemed destroyed but when Fells checked the desk, he found it rather untidy, which wasn't Leas style.
He came back out and made a face. "I think someone had a look at your desk....can you get Seamus?"

In here not much seemed destroyed but when Fells checked the desk, he found it rather untidy, which wasn't Leas style. He came back out and made a face. "I think someone had a look at your desk....can you get Seamus?" [ Leanna - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] Normally the walk to her office didn't make her feel this exhausted and could only put it down to the stress of everything that had happened since she had first arrived at the bar following the call from Seamus. Still she had to find a way to power through it, before Fells showed his continued concern, following her admission of how scared she was. Knowing that she couldn't hide how she was feeling from him any longer, especially when he mentioned what he had sensed from her earlier, before suggesting that he go in first and allow Seamus to take over if she wasn't up to it. Lea knew that he was only looking out for her and appreciated him being here even more as she answered him. " I can't lie to you and okay, if I'm not then I'll let Seamus handle it" she replied, as he then entered the office, leaving Lea was the same sense of uncertainty and fear over what he might find in there. Her office was a safe haven and retreat where the finer and more intricate details of her business were dealt with and now she was unsure as to whether it would feel that way again. When Fells returned after what felt like a lifetime and told her that it looked as though someone had looked at her desk, she felt sick as her brain attempted to catch up with what he had said, including him asking her to get Seamus. Normally she would, but then she remembered what the Chief had said, should the office look like its been disturbed. " We need to tell the Chief first, before anyone else goes in as she asked me to inform her, if anything was disturbed so she could check it out, lets go back and then I promise to sit down and rest".

"Okay." Fells nodded at Lea but he did look more concerned than usually ...mostly because she was pregnant with his son and he didn't need her to go into early labor or something. He did not voice that concern but he certainly wondered if that was possible. Strange how being back, suddenly made him feel overprotective when he had let her fend for herself for so long, which he certainly wasn't proud of. Fells walked back down with Lea in tow. He waited until Ryah was done talking and Lea was there as well. When they had her attention, he briefly stated. "Whatever you do....bear in mind that my girl friend is VERY pregnant....I think someone had a look at her files...no idea what. We'd like her manager to take it from here, if that's alright."
He looked at Lea for a moment to make sure that that's what she wanted, fully aware that he was behaving like a mother hen, and then stepped aside to let her handle the rest.

They arrived at Mr. Mercer's quarters and Sven pressed a finger on the buzzer. There was a bit of clanging and banging in the room from behind the closed door, but when it opened it one middle-aged man, thinning on his crown, wearing a white tank-top over his rotund belly and a pair of boxer shorts. Just out of view a disheveled woman with crazy frizzy hair pulled blankets up and over torso and rolled out of the bed with a bang. "What?" Mercer said in an annoyed tone. Sven spoke. "Arnold Mercer, I'd like you to come with us. There are some questions we'd like to ask you.""Whatever it is, I didn't do it." he said placing a thumb on the keypad to close the door. Sven placed his hand on the sliding door. The sensor kicked it and reopened. "Then you shouldn't have an issue answering a few questions then."Mercer's eyes narrowed. Something feral was about them. He slowly reached out of view, and made a quick swipe with his hand. His fingers were clenched around a the hilt of a butterfly like knife. The blade caught Sven's forearm and slashed it open. The large man retracted his arm trying to ignore the pain. He pounced inward with a bull rush shouldering the aging man in the chest sending him staggering backwards. The woman's head popped up from behind the bed. In her hands were a phase which she rested upon the mattress. She took a shot and a flash of light zipped across the room missing everyone. A shower of sparks erupted from the wall where the energy beam struck and an acrid stench of ozone filled the air. _______ Tag Rio Sosa

Took the memory chip from the Lieutenant and placed it in his pocket. "Right, thanks, I'll take a look. Hopefully we can get something from it," he said. He was confident they'd be able to retrieve something, the issue would be just how useful what they retrieve would be to the case, which seemed to be attracting an increasingly large amount of people aiding with the investigation. Once everything was sorted, he led Eastman and Hugo to his office. [Deck S4 - Intelligence Department Office - "The Wardrobe"]Harmon was not looking forward to returning to the office. It was a tiny, cramped, somewhat dilapidated room. On the bright side, perhaps the Commander would help out if she was forced to work in what they had been calling "The Wardrobe" after its size and status as a former uniform and prison outfit sores. Harmon had made an offhanded complaint about it being like working in a wardrobe and Ensign Hudson had latched onto that term and it stuck. "Welcome to our humble abode," he said as they entered, exposing the Commander to the office in all its glory. The room was made up of three components. The first was the largest, and had a number of cabinets used mostly for files, datapads, and of course, snacks. There was a small desk at the front with a computer where an Andorian was lazily sitting with his feet up on the desk, apparently asleep. Harmon walked up and kicked his chair, almost causing him to fall off. He ignored the mans grumbles and walked into the crapped room. It had a small table with four chairs crammed around it which seemed dusty. The table was covered in a few datapads and the a few mugs glasses. There was hardly enough room on the table for the three occupants of the office. The second component, behind a set of doors was even smaller. It was where most of their equipment and computers were located. The young Ensign Hudson was sat at one of those computers. The final component, Harmon's personal office (If you could call it that), was behind a set of doors which were for some unknown reason, manually opening doors which couldn't quite open the full way without hitting the tiny desk inside. Its roof was inexplicably low, forcing Harmon to duck when inside.
"We have guests, Hudson!" he called out. "Really?" a voice could be heard saying, "Who would want to come visit you?" she teased. A moment later she entered the front component, a shocked and embarrassed expression on her face as she noticed the First Officer was their "guest". She quickly snapped into attention and said "Sorry, ma'am didn't see you there. Ensign Hudson, ma'am" she introduced herself. Harmon laughed fairly quietly, but enough that it could be heard. "There's been a break in at the Blue Beta. Strangely advanced method, or so the grunts think. See if you can retrieve any footage," he said chucking the chip at her. "Of course I can, Harmon...I mean Lieutenant," she said sheepishly as she remembered the First Officer was present.

"You done, bright light?" she growled, quickly glancing to make sure her partner wasn't dripping too much blood om the floor! |Deck 15, Section 112, Mercer's quarters | lt. Sven Aune |Sven sucked in air and bite back the pain as the slash across his forearm throbbed. He would live and have had worse injuries in the past when he was with the Corp or Engineers as a bunker-buster. His bull rush connected with Mercer and he slammed him into the wall. Shelves and decoration rattled and came to deck with a large clatter. Glass broke. Sven seized an arm and pulled it around behind the balding man's back flipping him forward. There was a quiet pop as the joint dislocated. An accident. Sven didn't intentionally mean to injure the man. But with these kinds of fast paced adrenaline pumping fights, injuries were a normal thing. He pressed his shoulder into the man's back and grabbed the other arm bringing it behind. Locking Mercer's wrists together, Sven used his free hand to pull out a pair of gravimetric cuffs and slapped them on. They linked together restraining him. He then pulled the man away from the wall. and proceeded to read him his rights. Meanwhile, the stunned woman moaned; out like a light. Sven spoke in a growl. "Get her cuffed as well. We'll take them to the security section and hold them for questioning." He tapped his com-badge =/\= "Senior Chief Ryah, this is Aune and Rio. We have the suspect in custody. There was an altercation. We are transporting them to the security section. And we are requesting a forensics team to investigate his quarters and any transmissions he may have made." =/\= he said as blood trickled down his meaty forearm and dripped onto the stained carpet. " I've finished giving my statement and Chief, would you like me to check my office to see if the thieves got access to that as well?".
tag Fells Halgerdur & Ozu Saya [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Turbolift -> Blue Beta Bar & Grill]"Don't sweat it. We all get it wrong sometimes," Judy reassured as the lift came to a halt at Deck 8. She promptly stepped out, taking in the scene once again. It still wasn't pretty to see a crime scene on her station, and it was still something that had to be stopped. She approached her Chief of Security with a quick stride. "Chief, we got Ms. Mazal's statement down, and I asked my yeoman to get the list of her staff from the database so we can take their alibis, just in case," she reported matter-of-factly. "Is there any computer-based evidence for Mr. Harmon's team and engineering to review?"Judy had more or less decided to tag along to this team, where her skills would likely be more useful. That decision was made easier by the fact that the other team seemed to already be out, pursuing this or that lead.
Tag Matthew Harmon Ozu Saya [Blue Beta Bar - Fells Halgerdur] Fells saw her as soon as she entered the bar. His focus was instantly on her. Lea was the reason he was here, the reason to clean up is act. He offered her a smile and a hug as soon as she reached him, Ryah and the engineer, who couldn't really do a whole lot. "How are you?"He took her hand and held her back to force her to slow down and take a moment. As she wanted to inspect her office, he nodded. "I'll come with you."He would later ask her what they had asked her. [ Senior Chief Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar] Ryah acknowledged Lea's question with a nod. Yes, have a look. If it seems like anything was disturbed, don't go in. Let me know and I'll check it out, she said, noting that Sosa and Aune had left and a forensics team was gathering up bits of evidence. Thank you for your help Mr. Halgerdur. Ms. Mazal, when you're able, get me a list of anything missing from the premises. As the couple moved away, Ryah turned her attention to the first officer, gesturing toward George Hugo. Excellent. Thank you for taking care of that, Commander and Lieutenant. Lieutenant Hugo, here, has some info.Right, Commander. So, that Falgerdur fellow has a good sense of what happened. Some sort of EM pulse was used to disable the security system. There might be intact security footage on this memory chip, but it's also quite possible the data was scrambled. It may be retrievable, with some effort. George held the chip out to Harmon. Thea Baker Fells Halgerdur Judith Eastman Matthew Harmon [Blue Beta Bar and Grill]
[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Judy maintained a relaxed posture as she listened intently. It seemed, judging by what she was hearing, that this was a rather sophisticated breed of crook. "Well, best of luck to us," she quipped as Harmon led them to the Intelligence offices.
Tag: Judith Eastman Ozu Saya [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Intelligence Office]Judy took in the space, and wrinkled her nose for a moment, before forcing composure back upon herself. This place was going to be too crowded for them all, and frankly it was disgracefully cramped even for those in it. "At ease, Ensign," she acknowledged Hudson. "Commander Judy Eastman, First Officer, and, contrary to popular belief, not a deity."She continued to evaluate the space, contemplating both short- and long-term measures. "I believe we have two avenues to pursue," she directed, standing over the table. "The first will be the chip, and whatever secrets we can extract from it. The second will be the EM Pulse - the key parts of whatever delivered it may lend themselves to being tracked down."She set down her handbag on a chair, then approached a replicator to produce back, neck, and hip supports using her specs (loaded into the station database). She promptly displaced the handbag, outfitted the cushions, and took the seat. "Even by Starfleet standards, this chair is awful," she kvetched. "I'll need to look into getting new furniture for you folks."She retrieved her computer glasses - rectangular lenses in thick, grey frames - from her handbag, and put them on, as she eyed the subordinates present for their thoughts.

| Deck 15, Section 112 , Mercer's Quarters|It was hard not to roll her eyes when she saw their quarry...he was hardly the type that you'd think would be a crafty criminal, but then, she knew well enough not to just a person by their skin. And as soon as he saw them he reacted, his subtle and unconscious body ques signalling trouble. And trouble there was! The idiot went after Sven with a knife, moving swiftly enough that he caused some damage, but Rio was focused on the broad in the bed...well, beside the bed now. Sven could take care of himself, but that left him open to attack from the woman. Dashing past Sven and Mercer, Rio headed for the woman, surprised when she produced a phaser from under the blanket. While she wasn't sure how the woman fit in to all this, she didn't really care, she'd taken a shot at them, and even if she hadn't specifically intended to do them harm, she very well could have. Plus there was the 'obstruction of justice'. "Come on, now, Bright Light, time to wake up and put on some clothes." Sure, she was pissed, but she wasn't going to parade the woman naked through the station. Tapping a bit roughly on the shoulder, she nudged the woman awaken then tossed her a robe. "Put that on, or you get nothing, got it?"Wisely, the woman cooperated, and Rio then cuffed her. "What about you, sir? she asked Sven, "do you want me to wrap that for you?" She grinned. "Blood doesn't bother me!"Sven Aune Ozu Saya
