[ Front Ear - Landing Pad C --> Command Center - Commander Priscilla Parsinp] Blast, this youngun' made it difficult to stay angry at her. She was so conciliatory. As if she weren't here to take over the station.Hmph, come on, then. Without a backward glance to see if Ellis was following, Parsinp stalked off, leading the way off the chaotic landing pad. If it hadn't already been clear, the oddities of the station would soon become clear to the incoming captain. The lights were dim, but a careful look would reveal dust bunnies in corners. Lackadaisical officers went about their duties half-heartedly. In several alcoves along the corridors stood large tanks containing live lobsters. The tanks were the cleanest part of the place. As the pair entered a turbolift, Parsinp muttered, Command, to get them moving. She finally glared up at Felicity, her face blotchy with anger. You seem under the impression that I want to leave. Let me assure you, that isn't the case. I don't know why the admirals suddenly decided I needed to retire, but it's not my choice. They simply informed me that my services are no longer required, that I would be 'retired with honor' and that they were sending my replacement. Since she was on her way out the door anyway, Parsinp had no compunction about unloading her ire on the young captain. [ Felicity Ellis - Turbolift -> Command Center] That Parsinp wasn't completely against her presence on the Command deck was something Felicity would take as a win. She followed in the Commander's wake, though did pause once or twice to peer in at the tanks dotted along the corridors, half secreted in alcoves. At first the discovery was met with some pleasant surprised on Felicity's part, keen as she was on all creatures great and small, and particularly those of an aquatic nature. It became obvious quickly, however, that someone on this station was a touch obsessed with lobsters. "There must be quite a lot of work involved with maintaining all of these tanks, Commander Parsinp. Not to mention the prospect of the lobsters living for up to fifty years!" She followed the other woman into the turbolift, only to find her curiosity as to the meaning behind the Front Ear crustacean zoo temporarily rail-roaded by the unhappy older woman's revelation. Felicity looked at her with some surprise, though didn't suppose she could blame her for the candor. "I can assure you, that coming here wasn't our choice, either. Our reassignment came as a bit of a bolt from the blue too, with no further explanation than 'rotation of command and crew'. But there is an Admiral apparently on her way here, due to arrive at some stage this evening, so perhaps she might have more of an explanation."She wasn't purposely setting the cranky Commander on Antoinette Ellis, but Felicity would never look a gift horse in the mouth. The turbolift doors opened to reveal the nerve center of the station. *** [ Thea - The Spudriq Potato Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] Thea couldn't help but smile at Peggy's response to what she had said about being a meat kind of girl, thinking of what her Mother might say if she saw her about to tuck into a giant breakfast filled spud. " I always do when it comes to food and thank you" Thea replied, before the kind Irish lady, left her for a few minutes in order to get her order. Whilst she was gone, Thea took a moment to just sit back and think, knowing that once she'd had a decent breakfast, she could face everything, including the unpacking and inevitable visit to Sickbay, where she would no doubt forget to eat or have to set a reminder, so as not to spend all day there, engrossed in everything and anything. However by the time Peggy returned with a heavy laden tray filled with the delicious smelling aromas of properly cooked baked potatoes and a pot of tea, which Thea always enjoyed. Once it was set down and she took it all in, Thea couldn't wait to tuck in, determined to eat it all, as Peggy spoke to her once more. " It looks and smells delicious, so I'm definitely going to enjoy it".Picking up her cutlery, Thea went for the one filled with the poached egg and crispy bacon pieces, sighing with happiness as she took her first bite. [NPCs - Max Williams & Anna Eastman Williams - The Spudriq Potato Bar, Promenade] Only a few minutes after Judy set off towards Main Engineering, her husband and daughter headed towards the promenade. As Judy's career so often took precedence, Max was used to playing the part of the full-time dad, and Anna was used to taking her father along on trips as needed. The two looked around, observed the various stores, when one stood out. "The Spudriq? That's an interesting name," Max noted. "Let's look at that one."Anna rolled her eyes. Already, her father was looking at restaurants, nerding out. "Okay, dad," she acquiesced nonetheless. Coming in, the two noticed a familiar face. Young from Max's standpoint but old from Anna's, red-headed, and with pips. "Hi, Dr. Baker," the teenager greeted the doctor. "Can we sit with you?"Also there was an Irish lady, probably closer to Max's age (and Judy's). He greeted both with a nod and a, "good morning."[ Margaret "Peggy" Lynch - The Spudriq Potato Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] "Well enjoy that, love, and just gimme a shout if ye need anything else." With a satisfied smile at a satisfied customer, Peggy backed away to allow the sensible girl some privacy to enjoy her breakfast. The silver-haired woman hustled back toward her prep station, keen to get a few things done before the mid-morning rush. "A good mornin' to the pair of ye!" She called back to the handsome gentleman and the young lady. "I'll give ye a minute." She noted that they sat with the redhead, and once she'd lavishly applied the creamy, Irish butter to the newly scrubbed potatoes with her brush and slid the next half a dozen into the oven, she grabbed her pad and pencil again and returned to the table. "Now-so," she greeted, no-nonsense and straight down to the business of food. "What is it I can get for you two? Start with a decent pot of tea?" Her pencil was poised, she was ready to serve.

[Aft Lounge, Deck 10, USS Mac] Caroline caught Chris once again attempting what he thought was a sneaky peeky at her cards. If he thought she’d take that sitting down, well she wasn’t gonna stand for that. ”Ah ya old cheat. Ya wanna see m’cards so bad here!” She swatted him on his cheek with her hand of cards. Haven’t got any fours, see? Go fish!”Taking a sip of her Warp Core Breach, she considered Niamh’s words. After another sip, she nodded to herself. ”Sovaan, eh? Big guy, looks like he’s carved from solid rock? Yeah, in my professional opinion, he definitely seems fit to handle things.” She dissolved into a fit of giggles before continuing. ”Yes! Let’s go on an adventure! To the new Frontier… Front Ear… what the heck kinda name is that? Ah well, doesn’t matter. ADVENTURE TIME! Although, hopefully this adventure won’t come with the follow up journey where we hunt for McIntyre’s missing pants. You’re on your own for that one, Pantsless Wonder.”Caroline slammed her cards on the table, rattling the now partially empty cups. ”GIN! I win, now let’s go! There’s shenanigans to be had!” She crowed triumphantly, completely forgetting which card game they’d been playing. Discreetly, yet entirely unimpressed by the drunken display, Flaisl set the to-go cup down in front of Niamh. The drunken idiots had their credit on tab, and she was already looking forward to giving herself a generous tip on their behalf. It was the least they could do. [Aft Lounge] "I imagine that is the service to be expected here in the pit. Nothing but poor service and us overworked no-pips!" he said, in an overdramatic (and slightly slurred) fashion "Fair? That is not a word I would pin on ya from a distance. I would ssssay..." he trailed off as got distanced by the waitress for a quick second before snapping back "...dominant. You are dominant!" he said with a grin, as if he had just cracked the code of the universe "You walk into a room and itssss jussst something else!""OY" he exclaimed upon getting swatted with the cards "I could of gotten a nasty paper cut AND DIED. What would you have done then?" he asked, pointing a finger at Cara as he fetched from the pile "Ooh, that Sov...Soven? Sovon? Sovaan? is one of those green people. The...um... the uh... ORIONS! The Orions! I wonder if he knows anyone I'd be interested in. Heh. Heh." he thought aloud, giggling much the same as Cara "My pants were off for good reason!" he exclaimed, making sure that Lt... um... Ma'am(?) was completely clear on that "Wait, Gin?" he asked, squinting at the cards "Weren't we playing Spoons? Or was it Six Card Golf?.... hm. You sneaky sausage, I've been bamboozled." he said, slamming his fist on the table "Very well, let the shenan....shenanigons... shenanigans ensueth! LEAD THE WAY TOWARDS ADVENTURE!"[ Lieutenant Niamh O'Leary - Aft Lounge, Deck 10, USS Mac] Listening this time to McIntyre's ramblings, Niamh raised an eyebrow, though the amused grin betrayed how entertained she was at being called dominant. "Only with a stick in me hand, McIntyre." Then she chuckled; a sound that implied a far darker meaning to her words. When conversation turned to Sovaan, the new-ish flight officer, she nodded at Riordan's assessment of him. "That would be him alright. The one seemingly carved from a chunk of holy green emerald rock." Then to McIntyre she quipped, "Is there a single soul on this ship that ye wouldn't be interested in, man!?"While she waited for her drink to appear in front of her like magic, she pulled a PADD from the pocket of her jeans and began thumbing through a list. She'd come somewhat prepared and had downloaded the layout of the station, along with listings of her officers' quarters just in case they she got lost. "What do ye know? There's one or two interesting establishments that we could visit our custom upon, lads... And wait, what do we have here? A casino!"Ah, there's the magic! The Warp Core Breach in the coffee cup did indeed appear before her. She scooped it up and stood. "Can I interest ye two messers in a real game of cards? Ye can tell me all about McIntyre's pants on the way."[Promenade, Deck 7] "There 'tis lads, The Twilight Hotel and Casino." At this stage Niamh had skulled her entire "coffee" and deposited it in a nearby trash receptacle. She was very thirsty at that point, but some green movement caught her eye before they reached the place, momentarily distracting her from a fierce need for more refreshment. "Sovaan! There y'are, fella!"There he was indeed, with some rando dressed in leather. She approached immediately. "We're headin' in to check the place out if ye fancy joining us." She glanced at the man beside him and hastily added. "Bring yer friend." She wriggled her brows suggestively.

[PO2 Dihiq, son of Kroka - Docking Pad C]Dihiq looked at the Petty Officer with an understanding, but terrified, and also confused, look. "Mac? Like Mac and Cheese?" he asked. "Like a Big Mac? Is that short for something?"He debated whether to make his exit. "I guess that makes more sense."Dihiq was starting to feel a need to use the bathroom. [ Petty Officer Conor Lynch - Landing Pad C, Front Ear Station] "What's a Big Mac?" Conor asked curiously. The strange little fella did ask an interesting question, though. Was it short for something? "'Tis an unusual name for a ship, to be sure. But I don't often concern meself with the thinkings of the higher-ups." He tapped his temple. According to his ma, what he had inside was likely to be hollow. "Do ye need any help? I'm not doing much of anything here really, apart from talking about my new restaurant to folks hereabouts with a spud-loving look about 'em."*** [ Brooke - Landing Pad C, Security -> Private Quarters, Front Ear Station] As she walked through the station hand in hand with Greg, Brooke still couldn't believe that this was happening, however knew that it was, especially with the huge smile that was now plastered all over her face. Taking in the sights, whilst stealing glances towards her beloved, until the pair reached their new quarters and loved how, Greg had gone ahead and coded it for both of them, agreeing with him about adding people for emergencies. Of course that would include Lea and Flick but for now, she answered him as he gestured for her to go first. " What would I do without you and that's a great idea ....".The rest of what she was going to add, was cut off as she walked in fully and looked around. Even with it not being fully furnished yet, she could see its potential, the kitchen was perfect and ideal for her needs and it was just perfect for them both to live in quite happily. But what got to her the most, was the romantic gesture of filling every available space with vases and pots of flowers. Their heady aroma was intoxicating and she absolutely loved, what he had done. So when he then asked if she thought it would do, Brooke turned to him and grinned. " It's perfect and I love the flowers, you always know how to spoil me and .....".Brooke crossed the short distance between them and wrapped her arms around him. " Don't think I hadn't noticed the suit you're wearing and I love you Greg Ellis" she uttered as she leaned in for yet another passionate kiss. [ Gregory Ellis - Private Quarters, Front Ear Station] Greg watched Brooke carefully as she looked around, hoping that she'd be pleased enough to want to stay. When it became clear that she not only approved of the flowers, but also his efforts, his expression softened again into relief. When she stepped toward him to wrap her arms around his neck, he ducked a little, his hands finding the backs of her thighs so he could simultaneously lift her, and she could wrap those long legs of hers around his waist. "It'd look better on the floor," he said of the suit, his grin cut off with Brooke's enthusiastic lips, who seemed more keen to kiss than chat. Not that he could blame them... it had been a long three months. With her secured in his arms, he began moving toward the bedroom. That, at least, was furnished with a bed. "I love you, too," he murmured between kisses. He knew that they had a lot to do to settle in, before he left, and lots of people to see. But that morning was just theirs, and he'd accept nothing less.

With a satisfied smile at a satisfied customer, Peggy backed away to allow the sensible girl some privacy to enjoy her breakfast. The silver-haired woman hustled back toward her prep station, keen to get a few things done before the mid-morning rush. "A good mornin' to the pair of ye!" She called back to the handsome gentleman and the young lady. "I'll give ye a minute." [ Thea - The Spudriq Potato Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] " Thank you, I will" Thea replied as Peggy then politely backed away, to allow her customer to enjoy her breakfast. The CMO had to admit that she loved this place already and could see many a conversation happening, with the owner, especially as she became a regular at The Spudriq. Pausing to take a sip of her tea, before she was joined by a couple of familiar faces, who she had met, when she first boarded The Mac. " Hi Anna and Max, sure, I would love for you both to join me".Thea's response was sincere as she was determined to make friends and be more sociable, aboard Front Ear, rather than keep to herself and spend the majority of her time in Sickbay, focused on work. Of course she realised that it would take time and best not to rush these things, but she did enjoy having company and looked forward to getting to know Commander Eastman's family a little more. As if one cue, Peggy returned after Max had greeted her and Thea smiled as she approached and spoke to her dining companions. [ Gregory Ellis - Private Quarters, Front Ear Station] Greg watched Brooke carefully as she looked around, hoping that she'd be pleased enough to want to stay. When it became clear that she not only approved of the flowers, but also his efforts, his expression softened again into relief. But that morning was just theirs, and he'd accept nothing less. [ Brooke - Private Quarters, Front Ear Station] His playful comment regarding where his suit would look better, only added to the fire that was building up inside, his wife to be, as he then ducked slightly and his warm and inviting hands, found the backs of her thighs. This elicited a pleasant response from Brooke, as she then wrapped her long legs around his waist and held onto him. A smile played against his lips as he returned his love, their continued kisses, tender, passionate and very much needed after their long time apart. To some three months might not seem that long, but for Brooke, it had been torture and as Greg guided her towards the bedroom, wanted to make the most of their reunion and the man she loved more than anything. " I've missed you so much" she murmured, as she pulled back to catch her breath, taking in every detail of him, before the bedroom door opened and they disappeared into it.

At this stage Niamh had skulled her entire "coffee" and deposited it in a nearby trash receptacle. She was very thirsty at that point, but some green movement caught her eye before they reached the place, momentarily distracting her from a fierce need for more refreshment. "Sovaan! She glanced at the man beside him and hastily added. "Bring yer friend." She wriggled her brows suggestively. [Promenade, Deck 7 - Front Ear] Caroline was momentarily distracted by the large amount of aquariums filled with lobsters. The poor things with their taped claws always made her sad. It wasn’t their fault they were trapped in tiny glass boxes. Someone decided their lives for them and put them in a place where they couldn’t be free and grow. Some part of her felt an empathy with their plight. She too, had been living a life someone else had chosen and convinced her it was the only place for her. Careful not to leave any smudges or fingerprints on the glass, she leaned in close to a tank and whispered. ”You will have liberation, my friends. Rise up and fight the power. Soon we will shake off your shackles of oppression.” She held a finger to her lips, conspiratorially, before rejoining her friends. ”Chrisss,” Caroline’s voice was a loud stage whisper. She clumsily tried to tug down his oversized body so she could whisper in his ear. ”I know what we’re gonna do later.” With her hands, she made snappy lobster claw motions, and gave a very serious nod. As if that would be enough to make her intentions for a lobster heist clear. Message delivered, she looked over and saw Niamh talking to two more giant men. Seriously, why was everyone so tall? She lowered her sunglasses for a better look, and appraisingly decided they’d make a most attractive addition to their group. With a slink in her walk, she joined the lieutenant. ”Yes! Join us! The more the merrier! Your friend is definitely invited too, Big Green.” The drink had loosened her tongue, so she was a bit more willing to say things aloud that normally she’d only think. Her attention shifted to the Orion’s friend. ”That is a lot of leather. Are you a stripper? That’d be really cool. Wait… Do strippers wear leather? “ She put a hand over her mouth, thinking intently. The long loose curls of her ponytail shifted off her shoulder as her head tilted. "OH. I wasn’t trying to be rude. You would probably just make a really good stripper. Ok, I’m going to shut up now.” Caroline looked to Niamh or Chris for rescue. Sometimes she was just really bad at talking to people.

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams), Max Williams & Anna Eastman Williams - First Officer's Quarters]=A= "I'll meet you there, if my back doesn't give way first. Eastman out." =A= Judy answered, peppering in a bit of her humor. Then, she turned to her family. "Why don't you take a break from unpacking, explore the station, and we'll reconvene later for a meal?" she suggested. "You can tell me how the station looks for those of us who don't have this many pips.""Sure, mom. I can take dad window-shopping," Anna answered. "Don't torture your father too much, and try not to pull the 'oh my god, you're embarrassing me' face on him. Let dad be dad," Judy countered. "Her father is used to being bossed around by beautiful Jewish women. He'll be fine," Max answered, giving Judy a little kiss on the cheek. In addition to complimenting her, he had also imitated her manner, as he was prone to do on account of their long, close relationship. With that, Judy stood up from the armchair, took her (distinctly not regulation) handbag, and headed out. ***
[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Outside Main Engineering, Deck 24]Judy exited the turbolift with her usual elegant swiftness, her orthopedic shoes making a softer sound on the deck plating than the standard boots of the younger generation, and her jacket tied around her waist. She looked around, and promptly identified Saya. "Hello there, young lady," she greeted. "Something tells me we're looking at a lot of work ahead of us. The temperature control isn't to my liking, which is normal, but you wouldn't believe the state my quarters were in."Unsaid was the gross concern about whatever the hell happened on the landing pad. [Main Engineering - Deck 24 - MCPO Ozu Saya] Saya was quite surprised that Judy hadn't beaten her to engineering, but she was only a few moments behind. Judy, she responded. I hope that your back isn't giving you too much trouble. She raised one eyebrow at Judy's extreme informality of wearing her uniform jacket tied about her waist. Yes, our quarters are in a bit of a sorry state as well. I want to check if there's a problem with the cleaning bots. That is the only possible reason I can imagine that the vacated quarters wouldn't have been prepared for us.
We set up Evekh's bed so he could nap, and I told Kyo I would send some bots as quickly as possible if we can figure out what's going on. She took a deep breath and turned toward the doors to her new domain. Shall we face the dragon? she asked, tugging her long tunic straight.

The turbolift doors opened to reveal the nerve center of the station. [Command Center - Commander Priscilla Parsinp] Parsinp's eyes narrowed at the attention shown by the captain for her precious crustaceans, unsure if her words were sincere. She'd never met anyone who cared like she did. Her officers... tolerated, at best. Parsinp had to do most of the upkeep herself, which did take the majority of her time every few days. They are my one joy in this hell-hole, she said flatly. And it's not much of a 'rotation' if some of us are not being rotated into other positions. There are at least three others that are being forced into retirement. They entered the command center where several officers were puttering about. There was an intense, whispered conversation going on to one side, its participants entirely absorbed as one seemed to be reading the other the riot act. No one really looked up as the pair arrived. There was a general sense of laziness as two officers shared coffees by the replicator and others lounged in their seats, hardly paying attention to their stations. The same film of dust pervaded this area as had been throughout the rest of the station. As she took in the behavior of her subordinates, she had a sudden uncomfortable feeling of inadequacy, for the first time seeing how everything might look to an outsider. CAPTAIN ON THE BRIDGE! she roared quite suddenly, startling one officer into falling off his chair, and one of those by the replicator into spilling her coffee. Parsinp glared around, meeting many pairs of wide, confused eyes.

[ Margaret "Peggy" Lynch - The Spudriq Potato Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] "Well enjoy that, love, and just gimme a shout if ye need anything else." With a satisfied smile at a satisfied customer, Peggy backed away to allow the sensible girl some privacy to enjoy her breakfast. The silver-haired woman hustled back toward her prep station, keen to get a few things done before the mid-morning rush. "A good mornin' to the pair of ye!" [ Thea - The Spudriq Potato Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] " Thank you, I will" Thea replied as Peggy then politely backed away, to allow her customer to enjoy her breakfast. [NPCs - Max Williams & Anna Eastman Williams - The Spudriq Potato Bar]Max and Anna sat down across from Thea, each with legs crossed. Max retrieved his little reading glasses from his pocket, unfolded them and put them on; he could've used Retinax, but Judy had left her firm imprint on him. Both began to look over the menu, but also at their fellow diner and her rather magnificent meal. "That looks delicious," Anna complimented. Then, the proprietor returned, demonstrating a seriousness Max liked to see, and had used himself in his career. "Tea sounds wonderful," he answered, having already had his fix of coffee with Judy earlier in the morning. "As for the meal, I was actually wondering what you'd recommend?"Max had learned in his long experience to recognize restauranteurs who were invested in their work, and to take their recommendations.
[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Main Engineering]Judy nodded, acknowledging Saya's troubles. "I don't know if it's the bots or the operators," she replied. "We had a walk-in tub put in, for the sake of the ol' metal plate, and the tub was in, but for some reason they didn't go all the way and put the door on its hinges." She sighed gently. "Suffice it to say, my back would really prefer not to have to do that again," she summarized as she threw the jacket back on, not bragging too much about the relatively simple repair job. "Now, in we go."Stepping in, Judy wasn't exactly impressed by the scene, but she'd seen worse. It struck her more as apathy and laxness than the total mishegoss of the landing bay. If she was the incoming Chief, she'd announce her presence right now, but she'd let Saya make that call. The red collar and three pips made enough noise. "How soon are you planning to teach them the difference between a mountain and a manager?" she asked Saya quietly. Then, after a few seconds' pause, she adjusted her glasses and explained. "With a mountain, as you get closer, it appears bigger and bigger. With a manager, on the other hand, you realize she's really, really small."Judy resisted the temptation to pat Saya on the head and drive home the short joke, as she didn't want to pull all the embarrassing stops. "What first, people or the core?"[ Petty Officer Conor Lynch - Landing Pad C, Front Ear Station] "What's a Big Mac?" Conor asked curiously. I'm not doing much of anything here really, apart from talking about my new restaurant to folks hereabouts with a spud-loving look about 'em." [PO2 Dihiq, son of Kroka - Docking Pad C]Dihiq wasn't sure how to comment about the new restaurant, and beside, his bladder was weighing very heavily on him. "Hey. Do you know if they fixed the bathroom on this pad?" he asked.

[Sovaan - Deck 7, Promenade, Front Ear]
Sovaan had quietly wondered if he was talking too much; this was far more than he usually did, so he wasn't sure of the etiquette. It was easier being the quiet one, especially in a group. He would admit that talking to another man, another pilot, or even just about ships, did tend to make him loosen up somewhat. That seemed to go well most of the time, yet he was still figuring out all the niceties, and humans only tended to be more confusing. He had been raised amongst them, and they still didn't make sense.
His train of thought was broken as he heard his name called, in an accent distinctive enough that he was already responding before he'd fully turned to look. "Hello, Lieutenant." Of course, they were heading into the casino, too. Well, now he was certainly under pressure to perform. He had already opened up to Jett that he was relatively good at blackjack (and he assumed other forms of gambling were the same kind of risk-taking), so it would be spilled even if he didn't mention it now. He did raise an eyebrow as Niamh made an odd expression while calling the other man his friend - he seemed a bit more bemused, than anything else.
Before he could even respond further, Caroline Riordan had already joined them and was insisting the two joined as well. He cleared his throat, hoping to try and at least relax somewhat to reply, but hearing the odd nickname for him made his brow furrow. "Big-" Sovaan decided quickly that he was better off not asking. "..Yes, I'm sure he would like to."
Sovaan's eyes widened as she began talking about strippers, and decided he was best hurrying the relaxing up, before she said something else. "Why don't we just go in right now, then?" He began moving towards the casino and tried to guide Caroline to it as well, more concerned about whether or not she'd say something else she might be embarrassed about the next day. Sovaan was hardly an expert, but he'd seen tipsy officers before. They were supposed to get settled in, he supposed. It seemed like he was going to have no choice about that.

[Sir Dugris "Doug Zaman - Landing Pad C]As the too-important senior officers moved by, Doug found someone who looked right for his pitch. Command division, Lieutenant's pips, air of self-importance about him: this was the perfect mark. The El-Aurian, floofy death machine on his shoulder, approached this officer. "Lieutenant, my name is Doug Zaman. Could I show you about the station?" he offered. He'd try to rope this fella in, but in stages. Right now, niceness was key.

[Rio Sosa -- Mess Hall, USS MAC]
"Good to hear, I'd hate to have to toss you in the brig." Rio laughed. "It's too much paperwork!" And she truly hated filling out reports.
"I knew there was a moon, but really didn't pay much attention about it once I knew it didn't have any potentially troublesome lifeforms, but...Auroras? Really?" Her demeanor brightened as she sat straighter. "I've always wanted to see those, but I've never had a chance to be around any place that has them at the right time. So, do you think the minerals have anything to do with it? Like..." Well, she didn't really know that much about the interaction of dirt and air. "I mean, like some kind of emissions that increase the likelihood of Auroras?"

[Main Engineering - Deck 24 - MCPO Ozu Saya] Saya was quite surprised that Judy hadn't beaten her to engineering, but she was only a few moments behind. Judy, she responded. "With a mountain, as you get closer, it appears bigger and bigger. With a manager, on the other hand, you realize she's really, really small."Judy resisted the temptation to pat Saya on the head and drive home the short joke, as she didn't want to pull all the embarrassing stops. "What first, people or the core?"[Main Engineering - MCPO Ozu Saya] Saya blew out a quick breath before the doors opened and stepped in beside Judy to look around at the general lack of industriousness to which she was accustomed when working aboard a starship. For a moment, she wondered if that was simply a difference between a station and a ship, but it wouldn't be so under her leadership. She gave Judy a baleful glare at her height joke. Ordinarily, Saya didn't mind the teasing, but right now, as she walked into the lion's den where she needed confidence, was not a good time. Some of the incumbents would have problems with her, no matter how she approached the task of taking over and bringing the work ethic up to her standards; some would object to her enlisted rank technically being below their own commissioned ranks while others would not see her as an equal because she looked so young and petite. Saya wished futilely for George Hugo. It was always nice to have him at her back; and George inexplicably enjoyed cheerfully intimidating those who wouldn't fall in line. He never overshadowed Saya as chief, even if he did in stature, but he backed her 100%. Unfortunately for Saya, George had recently married (to a Romulan hybrid even smaller than Saya was, she noted with amusement, as he was as tall as Kyo and twice as broad) and was on his honeymoon. He and his wife would be arriving at the station at some point in the next couple of weeks. The entrance of the two unfamiliar women caused a little bit of a stir once some of the engineers bothered to lift their heads from whatever they were (or weren't) doing. One orange-shouldered female broke off from where she was speaking to another engineer and approached them. Can I help you? Her tone was slightly defensive as she looked between Saya and Judy. She was a little taller than Judy and around Saya's age, with lieutenant's pips on her collar. Saya straightened her spine slightly and replied, I'm Master Chief Petty Officer Ozu Saya. I'm the new chief engineer. We just arrived on the USS Mac. We'll be conducting inspections and beginning the process of transferring command. I want to speak to whomever has been in charge. My understanding is that your former chief engineer left a few weeks ago?The lieutenant nodded mutely as she stared at Judy, waiting for the older woman to introduce herself. Her eyes were fixed on the commander's pips on her collar. This was not a person she wanted to get on the wrong foot with. The new chief... she'd reserve judgment.

[Sovaan - Landing Pad C ---> Promenade, Front Ear]
"I tend to require more space." The fact was not lost on Sovaan that he had a larger build than many of his fellows in Flight Control, and that in days now long gone on Earth, he would not have qualified to even be a pilot due to his height. He was glad those days were over, but his large frame and height did make things slightly less convenient at times, while not hampering his abilities as a pilot at all. Nowadays, any shuttle was large enough to accommodate someone like him, or even people of a larger race. Sovaan entered into the turbolift with Jett, deciding not to add any other location. The promenade would do nicely. He wanted to see what it was that other officers, or at least normal people on the station, did for fun. "...It does, yes. The handling did get us into some trouble during the war, as I remember. Thankfully, I think they've improved upon the design. You were in Starfleet yourself?" The question was certainly genuine - Sovaan had no idea as to who Jett had once been, and didn't like to poke into business that wasn't his own. If someone was no longer there, he felt he had no right to look at a personnel file without a good reason.
He decided that he wouldn't ask about how Jett knew the captain; that wasn't his business either. The man kept his hands behind him and his face still appeared rather flat, even as they stepped out onto the promenade, like he still hadn't figured out how to smile. "What kind of records are you trying to look at? If it is from before the war, some records may have been lost in sabotage attempts." Though he was no expert, Sovaan knew that there had been those, especially with the infiltration the Dominion had been capable of. Still, it was best not to...dwell on that time. Sovaan's eyes tracked where his new acquaintace was looking, and he too noticed the Casino. Hearing Jett's questions, he wasn't sure what to answer. He supposed he was trying to relax. "...Yes, I majored in Astrophysics in the Academy. I also did play blackjack there; from what I was told, I'm pretty good at it, though I haven't played in a while." That 'while' was several years ago, but he recalled the rules. It couldn't be that hard to get back into the flow of, could it?
[Promenade] The Former Officer stood silent on Sovaal’s questions. He did not mean disrespect but there was a lot to wonder. When he commented about the designs of the Excelsior, Tom could not help but smile as he knew the reports. He would not want to mean rude about it but he did aske a question. As he was asked if he was in Starfleet, Tom could not help but internally laugh. He wondered what to answer he was a person that was essentially kicked out and considered a person non grata. He placed his hand on his hips and licked his lips he wondered for a second how to answer him. He thought for his answer for a second and responded with a statement in seriousness. “We all did our part in the war. Some of us more than others. In a way, we were all members of Starfleet in the war. I was just a footnote on it” Jett responded as he did not want to talk too much about the war or more importantly who he was. If he was a person that did not know him it was better off for everyone that he was not talking to a traitor. The man was trying to be respectful and not giving too much information. He already has known that once people recognized who he was, he would have been treated like a criminal and a traitor. The man kept his eyes out in the horizon as he listened to the issue of the records. Thee man thought how to answer the question, without getting himself and his acquaintance in trouble. The reality of the situation he knew that everything about the Icarus that was not transmitted to the press was classified. Asking bout a ship that disappeared and is classified is a good way to get himself into trouble. “It’s a personal investigation and it was after the war. About 2 years ago, hopefully, there is something there. We will see.”. The man was ambiguous but he might not realize it but he was trying to help him. He looked at the Casino in the distance and heard that he was good with blackjack. He sensed an opportunity as the pilot next to him was clearly good at math. “Do you know how to count cards?” Jett said to the man with a smile. He figured that he come and leave quickly and even if they get caught he might not stay there for a long time. Lieutenant Niamh O'Leary "There 'tis lads, The Twilight Hotel and Casino." At this stage Niamh had skulled her entire "coffee" and deposited it in a nearby trash receptacle. HE observed the brunette woman talking to Sovaan. Confused about who the lady was, Jett looked confused and asked Sovvan “You know her?”. He asked they were recent acquaintances but right now he was the closest thing to a friend in the Station. [Promenade, Deck 7 - Front Ear] Message delivered, she looked over and saw Niamh talking to two more giant men. As he was distracted by the brunette person that invited him to the area of the Casino. He noticed another couple a brunette woman and a man. Clearly, by their breath, he figured that they were intoxicated. He wondered how early they began drinking since it was still the morning. He muttered to himself “I guess you can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning”. He hoped that they did not listen to him. As they meant the comment on the Leather, Jett shrugged it off. “Thanks for the compliment. I’m sure the Luitenant here is an aspiring Chip N’ Dales dancer with Patrick Swayze”. As he finished his statement he tapped Sovaal shoulder with a smile as he wanted to wish him luck. He thought for a second how to respond to the Leather and responded “I’m no expert in being a stripper, but I am pretty sure clothing is optional. I’m confident that their uniform is no uniform. But that’s ok”[/font][/font]. Jett did comment as he figured that walking pantless and shirtless in the Station would cause him trouble. [Sovaan - Deck 7, Promenade, Front Ear]

Jett nodded at the direction of the Casino. He walked and observed everyone. He assumed they all knew each other. He thought it would be good to present himself. Hello everyone, the name is Jett.” . Tom purposefully omitted his name as he figured that all of them were Starfleet, and they might recognize who he was and might be awkward really fast. He would wait for them to introduce themselves. As they were all strangers. He was looking forward to make some credits by playing a couple of hands. But for the moment introductions where in order.

There seemed to be a bit of an attitude problem going on here, the kind of self-entitled attitude of young officers who hadn't faced an awful lot of real adversity. If this was the prevailing attitude, then they had work to do. "Judy Eastman, First Officer," Judy introduced herself, extending her right hand for a shake. She spoke those words quietly but confidently, displaying a self-confident awareness that she didn't need to be the loudest voice in order to be heard. Indeed, rather than intruding into others' space with her words, she tried to draw them in. "And you are?"Lieutenant Tyler Givens, ma'am. Assistant Chief Engineer," Tyler answered, hesitantly taking and shaking the extended, old hand. She wasn't sure what to make of this old, unusual, very old First Officer, but she knew not to get on her bad side. "Good to meet you, young lady," Judy answered, not critiquing the unimpressive handshake aloud. Instead, she retrieved her little notebook and pen and began to jot down notes. "Now, let's get on with it. I know the Chief has a few questions, and I happen to have a background in engineering myself."

And suddenly the conversation became interesting and pleasant as if those Auroras had lit it up. He offered his new acquaintance a smile and nodded. "I could show you once I've settled in if you really want to see them. See if I can get a shuttle down there."
She finished her food and asked him more about them, which he interpreted as genuine interest from a woman who obviously had no idea or was playing dumb to make him feel smart. "It's a reaction. A collission if you will. Those electrically charged particles collide with whatever is in a planets atmosphere. In our case...oxygen and yes, minerals and big amounts of nitrogen. We alsi have a particularly strong solar wind here."
The cleaning robots were starting to swarm out and most people had left so Brody got up. "I don't want to be rude but we'd better get going before we get sweeped up by these little things."
