[ Observation Lounge Thomas Jett & Princess Victoria Victoria attempted to grab slightly on her new servant and possible best friend. Even though she said she was not but she was the assistant to the Captain. The tear still went down the cheek as she realize that she could not be her exclusive servant. That would be selfish of her. “It’s ok, I understand Yeoman Heather Hill. You have to be shared with myself and the Captain. I’m not a selfish person, but brushing my hair would be nice.” . She let go of the Yeoman and gave her attention to the young dashing man that came in. She wondered why the person that rescued her was not this man but the one without proper manners and old. [ Ens Joshua Niles - Observation Lounge, USS Mac ] A few more deep breaths steadied him, and finally he spoke. "Your Highness, I am Ensign Joshua Niles. First and foremost, please allow me to offer my sympathies for the loss you and your people have suffered today. Captain Ellis has assigned me to be her personal representative and liaison to you and your people. I... ah... understand you have some needs that need tending to, and I aim to do everything in my power to see to it they are addressed as best as possible, within the confines of onboard resources." Victoria stopped and gave her full attention to the young man. She curtsy properly to the man. As she finished she straightened herself up and with a regal tone she talked to the young man. “Ensign Joshua Niles, I appreciate your and your Captain sentiment of condolences. It is my honor to accept you into my Royal Court as a representative of your people. My needs come after proper procedure. I am delighted to see that some of you have manners” . She turned and gave Jett a sideways glance. She approached the Ensign and said to him “If you would do me the honor of kneeling Ensign Joshua Niles” . She gestured to the man as she smiled. She was excited to introduce the first person to her Royal Court. The Royal Court of Queen Victoria has a nice ring to it once she reclaimed what was rightfully hers. She smiled at the brunette man that she wanted him to be her rescuer. The day was looking better he had her new best friend in Heather, the first person in the royal court. She had an old man mentor. It’s like in the stories. The yeoman gestured to the bar against the far wall, and motioned for Jett to follow. She stood behind the bar with authority, like a seasoned barkeep. ”Name your poison, Captain. I’m a bit rusty with the fancier mixed drinks, but you don’t strike me as Warp Core Breach type. Those are mostly sugar anyways.” If she was lucky, the man was either tired enough, or thankful enough, not to question that she hadn’t been sent to oversee them by the Captain herself. Honestly, if he asked, she wasn’t sure what she’d tell him. Tom saw the situation unfolding and wondered if they had to at some point bring or replicate a Throne to her. He almost felt pity for the Ensign. Almost. He walked with the Yeoman and smiled as she mentioned sugary drinks. “You’re right on that one Yeoman” . He smiled and said “Or servant Heather” . He mentioned the second part of it as a tease at the situation. “Do you know how to make an Old Style Manhattan?” Jett inquired as it was an ancient Earth drink. “So what’s your story Yeoman, why are you here?” . Tom inquired. He remembered the feeling of having a Yeoman, but his was more a sounding board and help him with all the names. He was horrible with those. In a way a Yeoman was the Captain’s right hand man sometimes more valuable than a first officer.

[ Ens Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ] [...] And then, she addressed him. Instantly, Niles straightened at his position, and it was only through all of his willpower that he didn't stand at attention like some first-year Cadet in front of their basic officer's training course instructors. And she had a job for him. To report to the Observation Lounge and... what?! To be the Captain's liaison to the Princess, whose existence he only knew because of the notification that had flashed across his board while securing from Red Alert? As an Ensign, let alone one who was not diplomatically trained? His mouth opened, but instead of objecting, three words came out crisply and smartly. "Aye-aye, Captain."As soon as he'd acknowledged the order, he made use of his console to request an immediate relief, as well as send a message to his department head briefly explaining the situation. Clearly, he'd been relieved of Bridge duty for this watch, but what would it mean for later ones? "Captain, one question if I may: will I still be expected to stand future Bridge watches, and do I assume my battle station remains unchanged?" After all, changing Bridge watches would mean reworking the watch and station bill altogether, and if he could be spared from is current non-bridge duties, that did not necessarily mean there was personnel available to take over his watch here permanently. And, frankly, he did not want to lose his Bridge position once that particular task would be over, whenever that would be! For a moment, his heart hammered in his ears. After all, he had just questioned his Captain, though once the answer came, without tearing his head off, he waited just long enough for his relief to arrive before he made for the Observation lounge. [...] [Turbolift > Bridge, USS Mac]
The call had come over the comms suddenly for an engineer to arrive on the bridge. =/\= Oerstadt to bridge, I'm on my way. But in the meanwhile, what sort of issues are you experiencing in the reset? =/\= He might as well attempt to multitask as he began to head into the turbolift. If it was a reset problem, potentially they had missed something obvious in the reset, or it could be one of those nasty wiring issues he had been dealing with earlier in the banquet hall - either way, he was hoping it was the former. Coming out of the turbolift, he walked quickly towards the doors of the bridge as they swooshed open. "Captain, you requested engineering?
[USS Mac - Bridge] The expression on Felicity's face when she turned around made those bottles of whisky he'd traded to keep his name off Mac's newest intake roster all the worthwhile. Derek returned her infectious smile with a conspiratorial wink, conscious of the other unknown faces around them. Still, he continued to regard the skipper with what could only be described as a sense of pride, watching as she swiftly allocated new orders to those around her. A long way from that young, friendly, optimistic counselor who sometimes forgot it was her turn to speak. Some others had questioned his recommendation to Starfleet Medical for the newly minted lieutenant to replace him as Chief Medical Officer of Columbus, but he knew she was ready for that challenge. And look at her now. One of the youngest CMOs in Starfleet history is now one of the youngest Captains.Catching the blue collared commander's glance, Derek dutifully loped with purpose down to his station, taking over from the crewman who had previously been filling that role perfectly well. He could only imagine the helmsman had something better to do rather than sitting unproductively while their ship was stationary, and perhaps this was O'Leary's tongue-in-cheek way of fulfilling his previous curiosity about that short stint at alert status. It was certainly intriguing to listen about what was happening with the nebula on their viewscreen, rather than tucked belowdecks wondering where they were going. Well karma's a bitch. Derek chuckled inwardly when Felicity voluntold him for the potential shuttle mission, a reward for making the unsolicited suggestion no doubt, and a trick he'd used himself in the past. There was some promise of exploration though, and he glanced back at the science officer reporting on those sensors issues. A good scientist to snap some pictures, maybe get a few mark-1 eyeball scans in, and someone from Ops to stop us from blowing up. Might turn out to be fun. [Ens. Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac] Captain Ellis had Ensign Quinn's full attention as she began to issue orders. Her first words had been to the pilot that had stepped onto the Bridge to relieve Ensign Graham. She had asked him if he was volunteering to take a shuttle into the nebula. Isaiah almost felt sorry for him, until the captain turned her attention to him, and basically tasked him to make the idea an actual reality. Lt. Commander Baker seemed to be in favor of the idea as well. His mind was already turning with how to fine-tune the idea to make it a bit more plausible. "Not a problem, Captain," was his response as he turned his attention back to his console. There was quite a bit of confidence in his voice, but Isaiah had never been the sort to shy from a challenge. As he worked, he listened as the Captain gave Ensign Niles orders to act as a liaison to their guest that had come aboard with Captain Jett. Isaiah wasn't sure if he envied the young ensign. It was a potential first contact situation, and those could often go a number of ways. He asked if he'd be able to return to his posting on the bridge once this mission was over. Isaiah assumed this was the captain's way to gauge more of the man's skills. A bit of a shakedown mission to see what he was made of. As Niles left the Bridge, the Mac's Chief Tactical Officer, Lt. Adams came aboard the Bridge and began to man the Tactical I station. It didn't take long before Crewman Oerstadt reported to the Bridge as well. Isaiah assumed he must've been summoned by the Captain earlier. Turning his attention back to his duties, Isaiah examine the work that he had completed previously with Ensign Niles. He then looked towards Ensign Black. "Mr. Black," Isaiah said to the helmsman. "I need your assistance with the finishing touches of this make shift photonic doppler. I can use the combination of a series of wide-beam low-intensity phaser blasts in conjunction with the deflector emitter to map a path through the nebula. However, I need to gauge your live reaction time to make sure you have enough advance warning while flying." Isaiah pressed a few keys at his panel before nodding towards Ensign Black. "I've just sent you a nav simulation. I'm going to try to map the path using the information we have, Isaiah said. He then looked towards Lt. Adams. "Lieutenant, I've also sent your the last phaser and deflector parameters Mr. Niles. If you could repeat the procedure during the simulation, it would be a big help. Coordinated bursts at the suggested intervals." He looked back towards the helm. "Feel free to adjust speed as you need. Once you find the idea one for you to successfully navigate, I'll be able to determine the ideal radius for the doppler.Isaiah paused a few moments to double check that he was prepared to convert the wave data he was receiving into an actual image that the ensign would be able to use. "Whenever you're ready," he said. If this worked, they should have a very decent chance of navigating into the nebula to get a closer look of what was at the center, and possibly an idea of what was knocking out their external sensors. [Felicity Ellis - Bridge, USS Mac]Felicity was turning away from the Tactical station, ready to return her attention to the matter of the nebula, when the young officer asked a question. She paused very briefly, her eyes flickering back toward him. "Yes, Ensign," she confirmed, for a moment wondering if this was the answer he wanted, or if he was struggling with his duties on the Bridge. After a weighing glance, she continued, "While not on the Bridge you can see to your liaison duties, and when not required by the Princess, you should continue your work here."She watched him exit into the turbolift; and while he left, another entered. Felicity spared a brief smile and nod of acknowledgement for Oerstadt. She'd been pleased with his work on Kerelia during their recent away mission on the surface, and knew he'd be a good addition to the current personnel on deck while they tried to get to the bottom of this sensor mystery. "Crewman, yes, thank you," she said as she gestured toward a free engineering console, while around them Ensigns Quinn and Black got down to the business of test prep. "A short time ago, we lost scanning capability, specific to scientific parameters only. We believe it might have something to do with the nebula. Quinn and Niles have devised a plan to gather further data and see if we can find out what happened, and how to fix it. Please, take up Engineering I, if you would." The majority of the information the crewman would need should be available to him via the Bridge's console. Having him there as a direct intermediary to Engineering itself should also prove handy. [ NPC - Lt Laurel Andrews - Bridge, USS Mac] " Captain, Commander, I've got something showing on long range sensors, it appears to be a ship of some kind, trying to get more details on what type it is".Felicity had tuned back in to Quinn's instructions to the helm when another voice broke her concentration again. This time, she turned toward Andrews, who had quite seamlessly taken over from Joshua Niles. Felicity's eyes narrowed at the tactical update. What were the odds of meeting another ship out here that hadn't been involved in the debacle with Thomas Jett? Slim. "Open a channel please, Lieutenant." Once she got the nod, Felicity greeted their shadow. =/\= "This is Captain Felicity Ellis of the USS Mac. Unidentified ship, please be aware that this nebula may have some detrimental affects on your systems. We recommend you keep a safe distance." =/\=

[NPC’s Lord Del Rio and Officer Guardia – 2 Man Scout Ship Adelante“Why are we even here, my Lord?” Officer Guardia asked to his Lord as they took one of their Warp Scouts to follow the Sovereign vessel. The ship that they detected as 3 was really one. They found the situation interesting. The Lord look at the controls and responded “We detected a signal coming from inside the ship to this one. We wanted to make sure that nothing funky was happening there. Our Lead Scientists believe that it might be possible to move matter between spaces. We are calling it Dematerialization. Our orders are to confirm that the Princess is indeed dead.” “Sounds like something from Science Fiction, My Lord” Guardia commented. The whole notion of Dematerization and Materialization in two different areas is absurd. The ship made sure that it was outside the range of the scanner in which the only way to detect them was by visual contact. “We are right outside of our scanners…” Guardia commented. Lord Del Rio than said “Turning off our lights…so we are in stealth mode” The Ship turned off their front lights and stayed outside the range of the scanner. In their technology the only way to be detected was to be inside their range or by visual confirmation. “What if their scanners are better than ours?” Guardia asked. Del Rio shrugged it off and said “Mate, don’t worry this ship is equipped with a PXG-4000, state of the art scanners. There is no known ship or technology out there. We just mastered Warp. Pretty soon we can break the Warp 5 Barrier. We are probably one of the most advanced species out there. You would think if they would be more advance then why didn’t they visit us BEFORE, we developed warp.” Guardia then thought “You are probably right…besides if we took care of the Royal Military, I’m sure we are ready what’s out there” Del Rio smiled and responded “You’re Damn Right!” As they mentioned they detected a hail. “My Lord, they are hailing us” Del Rio looked stunned and asked “How the frack?... Let’s listen to it” =/\= "This is Captain Felicity Ellis of the USS Mac. Unidentified ship, please be aware that this nebula may have some detrimental affects on your systems. We recommend you keep a safe distance." =/\= Del Rio opened his channel =/\= This is Lord Del Rio of the Scout Ship Adelante contacting Captain Felicity Ellis of the USS Mac. We are undergoing a scouting mission and we are equipped with our PXG – 4000 scanners, state of the art. Maybe our scanners will help you. In Exchange, we need to confirm the Death of Princess Victoria. We need to confirm that you don’t have the capacity to Dematerlize (Transport), if so. You don’t need to kill her yourself, you can hand her over to us and we will kill her. =/\= “Very Diplomatic my Lord…well said” Guardia commented as he closed the channel. "Shut up no one wants a stuck up" Del Rio Commented. As the channel close the Scout Ship began approaching the Mac. "Silly people, scared of a stupid Nebula" Del Rio commented as he approached the Mac at full speed.

[Ens. Lurai Sren – USS Mac – Observation lounge] There were just two guests in the lounge, and they were soon joined by Yeoman Hill. Lurai greeted the Yeoman with a polite nod. Apparently one of the guests was a princess, which was a surprise. Princess of which world, she wondered. Victoria sounded decidedly human, but as far as she knew Earth had no monarchies left. The name Jett rang a bell, he had probably been on that recent mission to Kerelia. ”Pleased to meet you, Captain, Princess...” was all she had time to say before the princess embraced Hill like a long lost friend and called her a servant. Lurai had to suppress a laugh. Scanning Captain Jett, she concluded that his injuries were minor with mostly scrapes and some bruises. ”I'll heal those lacerations up for you if you don't mind.” Taking a dermal regenerator she went to work, quickly fixing him up. Then she turned her attention to the princess, giving her time to finish talking to Niles and Hill. ”Your higness”, she said with a polite nod. ”It's not every day we get royalty on board. May I perform a health scan on you?” Judging by the way Jett talked to the young princess, it seemed whatever world she came from had a different level of technology. ”Like the one I just performed on Captain Jett”, she added.

[bridge -> sickbay-USS MAC] With someone else taking over at the helm it would have made sense for him to go and get a physical at the sickbay. He figured that it would be a good idea for him to be as healthy and uninjured as possible. After he was done with getting the physical done he would go to the mess hall to grab a bite to eat and interact with anyone who might be there. As he approached the sickbay he wondered who he would need to go to for it. He was rather confused but he hoped that he would get the answers that he was looking for when he asked his questions. He only had one question to ask someone. “Is there someone I should be reporting to for this?” [NPC - Dr. (Lt.) Kece Lunn - Sickbay, USS Mac]Kece had been enjoying some time in the CMO's office, the one that was rightfully his and yet formally still belonged to LCDR Baker, when he became aware that there was a non-Medical individual here. "Dr. Kece Lunn, surgeon extraordinaire," the Betazoid surgeon introduced himself with a rather self-assured air about himself. "How may I help you, Ensign?"
Tag Alex Graham [sickbay-USS MAC] “Oh hello there Lieutenant Lunn I was looking to see who I would need to report to for a physical.” Maybe the surgeon could help or point him in the direction of the person that he was supposed to report to for it. He was looking for some clarity and to clear up any confusion that he might have at the moment. Tag Judith Eastman

[ Observation Lounge Thomas Jett & Princess Victoria ] Tom saw the situation unfolding and wondered if they had to at some point bring or replicate a Throne to her. [NPC Yeoman Heather Hill - Observation Lounge, Deck 1, USS Mac] Heather looked up from the two whiskey bottles she was debating between. She wasn’t particularly fond of it, but Captain Ellis was. The boss seemed to enjoy both interchangeably, so she held them up for Jett to choose, momentarily stalling her answer to his question. She thought about it herself. ”Well, right now, fixing you a drink. What am I doing here in a more specific sense? My job. In the general sense? That’s probably left to philosophers and drunks, and I can’t drink that much on the clock. Catch me off hours though, I might have a good answer for you. Unrelated, I gotta admit, somehow I thought you were taller.”Her friendly smile turned thoughtful for a second. He was changed from how she’d remembered him. She shrugged it off for a moment, her attention caught by the princess and the ensign. It was a bit surreal, more like two kids playacting. Mentally, she grimaced realizing she could have babysat for both of them when she was 12. ”Do you make a habit of picking up strange girls from dark corners of the quadrant, Captain? That’s likely not a very safe pastime, for you or the girls.”The yeoman’s tone of voice was droll, as she assembled the rest of his drink, and the teasing could almost be missed, but for the cheeky glint in her eye. She then noticed Ensign Niles looking in her direction almost anxiously. Eh, the kid could squirm for a while, it was good for him. Suffering built character. She bit at her lip, holding back a small laugh. She smiled then, and her voice was sugar tinged with arsenic. ”Of course, Sir. Princess Victoria will be appraised of your schedule to the minute, and shall always have a direct line to you. [ Observation Lounge Thomas Jett & Princess Victoria Tom let the Doctor scan him as she discovered what he expected which is more minor scrapes and bruises. He was mostly fighting a defensive battle and holding on for dear life. He let her fix the minor injuries and turned his attention towards her. “Thank you Doctor” . Tom mentioned. “You didn't have to do that but I appreciate it.” . Tom nodded. He has seen worse and had been injured worse in his life. He turned his attention to the Princess. In which re reacted with a nod. She gave a polite curtsy to the Doctor was intrigued by the machine that fixed Jett. For her it appears to be like magic. Maybe she is the Priest with Magical Healing Powers as mentioned in the stories. The technology that these people have was much more advance that their. [Ens. Lurai Sren – USS Mac – Observation lounge] ”Your higness”, she said with a polite nod. ”It's not every day we get royalty on board. May I perform a health scan on you?” Judging by the way Jett talked to the young princess, it seemed whatever world she came from had a different level of technology. ”Like the one I just performed on Captain Jett”, she added. [/div][/quote] She gave her a polite curtsy as the Doctor addressed her. The woman was wearing a different uniform than the rest. She was wearing blue. “I’m interested, with the device that you used for Thomas Jett, can you explain to me what is it?” . She approached the Doctor as she was interested in the Thermal Regenerator. She was confident that her scans would come up positive as she was the last person that they were aiming for. The worst thing to happen to her is that a Prude person attempted to rescue her and did not properly escort her. “It appears that your technology might be dramatically more advance than ours. Which is different from what we are taught. Who guided your people to be soo advanced, Doctor?” . She asked the Doctor as she was trying to make conversation and was curious about this new people. At First the weapons that the man used seemed more in line with their but now. It appears that there was a clear technological gap. [NPC Yeoman Heather Hill - Observation Lounge, Deck 1, USS Mac] ”Well, right now, fixing you a drink. Tom picked up his drink and ate the cherry first. He heard the comment that he thought he was taller and all he could think of busted. The man took a sip and smiled and responded “Sorry if I disappoint” . He took a sip and clarified his question. “I mean your story why you are here. Everyone of us has a story and why we are were we area. Captain Ellis challenged me a couple of months back to withhold judgment and try to get to know her crew better. I was wondering about you. Maybe after your shift. You probably know where to find me. “ . Tom looked around as he figured that he would be observed until they figured out what happened. Truth be told he was partly lost himself. Jett to another sip of his drink when he heard the Yeoman asking him about his questionable habits. “Only on Tuesdays, and on Wednesday I try to cause a major diplomatic incident. Today, I did both in one day. So I’m ahead of schedule. “ . The man smiled as he responded sarcastically. He wanted to lift his glass and said “Joining me for one at least?” . Tom asked. "Ah, Your Highness, with respect, without knowing more of your customs, I, ah, am afraid and most sorry that I must regretfully decline the honour of formally joining your court at this time lest I, ah, make a mistake in protocol and bring dishonour onto your royal person. Also, in my people's culture, taking a knee before someone of your stature often involves making an oath of fealty, and as a Starfleet officer, I am already sworn to the United Federations of Planets; and while your offer to join your court does me great honour, I am afraid I cannot risk compromising my existing oath."With some luck, that would have to do for now. And that he would not make a dreadful mistake of protocol. But, then again, he was a very junior officer with very little practical experience. And while this was clearly an important duty, one he could not afford to fail at, he hoped there would be some understanding if he was a little rough around the edges. And right now, he found himself praying for anything to help him out of there. Yeoman Hill stepping up, the doctor finding a tumor, a Red Alert that would get him back on the Bridge. Anything at all. "Your Highness, I also must inform you that while well-appointed, the Mac is a not the sort of royal yacht you may be accustomed to, but I will personally exert every possible effort to ensure you and your people are as comfortable as possible for the duration of your stay with us."His mind was racing. What did he know about the ship? What resources could he tap in a hurry to ensure her comfort? Was there anyone he could try and coopt to provide her with a suitable staff? Maybe one of the galley stewards, or one of the civilians working in the spa... wait, there was an idea! Especially since he did not relish the notion of explaining to her how to work the heads facilities at all... "Your Highness, duty compels me to inform you that while I am your liaison, I am also still a Tactical Officer on this ship and while I fully intend to devote as much time as is humanly possible to you, I have other duties I cannot shirk."And, there it came. The need to actually give someone an order, although for all intents and purposes the Captain's Yeoman was outside the conventional chain of command, even though she was still enlisted and the mere fact of his commission made him her superior officer. Turning his head towards the Yeoman, he met her eyes briefly and he clenched his teeth briefly, silently begging her for her support. "Yeoman, please have a PADD prepared for Her Highness detailing my Bridge watches, and include a way she may contact me directly should she require anything."
Tom looked at the Yeoman and only has one question “New guy?” [/color]. Jett asked as he knew it was tradition to either give him a bad assignment or a prank to the new people. It was part of Team building. “What was your new guy moment?. He asked and though to share his own story. “Mine was on the U.S.S. Agincourt . I started and ended my carrier there. But, anyway…um…it was under the Command of Captain Orin sh'Rathi, An Andorian Female with a huge temper. I mean you would not want to her Yeoman. So first, I arrived to the Bridge I arrived at 0800 hours. On time…the Captain informed me I was late, on time is late. Being the smart Alec that I was I informed her I was on time. I told her my shift started at 0800 hundred hours. And I pissed her off, told me I was a Lt. jg and I needed a reminder about the chain of command. So added to my regular schedule duties. I was forced to micro clean every single Officer Quarters and carry their holodeck bags. I was supposed to start with myself and go up and if I messed up, I needed to start with my own quarters. When I finished with the Captain, she asked me to bring her bags to the Holodeck, in which they were all waiting with a surprise party. And an award with most likely for my mouth to get myself in trouble” . Tom finished his story and he hope the Ensign would at least feel welcomed. He then turned his attention to the Princess and with great interest to see her reaction to the Ensign’s statement. Princess Victoria looked at the man and smiled. She did not appear to be upset and would understand he is coming. “Like I said, I don’t want to be known as a cruel Queen. I want to be a good Queen as mentioned in the stories. I wanted for you to kneel so I would appoint you as a Member of the Royal Court as a Liason for your people. I wanted to involve you in all the decisions in my new government so you can represent your people's best interests and advice me. I know I am not a trained leader, like my Father and Brothers but I will need help. I want you to help me understand your people. I am not asking your loyalty or fealty. I am asking to be here when I am making decisions. That is all the kneeling is a part of the Ceremony in which you ask me to be a member of the Royal Court.“ . She smiled at the young man. She was sure about one thing, she did not know a lot and she needed to learn quickly. This man offered her respect. The other was just cruel. As he mentioned about the ship not meeting her standards, she smiled and said “Don’t worry, we will work with what we have. Servant Heather…is there a place in this ship we can go shopping? We need to get the following: Dresses, Hair Supplies, Nails Supplies, Hand Mostirizers, makeup. Ensign Joshua Niles, I will need you to advise me what styles would be the least offensive to your people and would improve my image among them.”
Heather’s eyebrow arched imperiously. Ensign Niles did seem at the end of his rope and needed some assistance. However, getting ordered by a much younger officer rankled. She smiled then, and her voice was sugar tinged with arsenic. ”Of course, Sir. Princess Victoria will be appraised of your schedule to the minute, and shall always have a direct line to you. It’s the very least I could do to make things easier for everyone.”She felt it prudent not to add she usually had a direct hand in arranging the duty rosters for Captain Ellis’ approval. A little hazing, (like suffering,) was good for the soul.
“That is entirely acceptable. Both of us will go shopping, first. My image to your people is of the utmost importance. Please keep me apprised when this will happen. The Second, is to find a way to expand the royal court with respectable individuals.” [/color] She glanced at the Prude man in the corner that obviously would not make the cut. Yeoman Heather being a servant would also not make the cut, but she had another duty and more important to be her new best friend.

[NPC - Dr.
Tag Judith Eastman [NPC - Dr. (Lt.) Kece Lunn -Sickbay, USS Mac]Kece rolled his eyes. "It's Dr. Lunn to you," he corrected, evidently displeased at having been addressed by his rank and not his degree. "I can conduct your physical, Ensign."Lunn led the man towards one of the biobeds, and drew a privacy curtain around it. "Let's start with your name, so I can review your record," the officer directed. He did find it odd, almost rude, that the Ensign hadn't introduced himself, almost like Kece (an educated surgeon, and a ranking officer) was a waiter, secretary, nurse, or stripper - a subordinate whose purpose was to serve.

[Personal Quarters, USS Mac] K'Dex blearily opened one eye at the overly loud notification noise. "Yes infernal machine, what is it?" "1 New Message from Engineering." "Then play it""Engineering to Ensign K'Dex, apologies. I know you're not scheduled for duty for another day, but we could really use you down here for some problems with an anomaly."
K'Dex gave a deep sigh, considering possibilities. Anomalies were vaguely interesting, as it'd require more precise calibrations... Ugh. "Computer, send response, I will report in shortly." K'Dex lazily stretched out to his full length, flexing his tail out and clawing into his bed softly a few times. Collapsing back into the soft pad, he let out a heavy grunt, before willing himself to roll out and move to the closet. [Engineering, USS Mac] K'Dex strolled into Engineering, flicking eyes about for a general feel of the room. He felt a slight sense of frustration in the way people were staring at consoles, or moving briskly from one side to another. K'Dex walked to a small locker, and removed his work PADD and a lightweight vest with varying tools inside. K'Dex had the vest custom made, never truly enjoying the feel of a toolbox like most of the engineers. He continued moving at his slow strolling pace to the main console. "Computer, most recent status summary onscreen." K'Dex let his eyes skim the data. All fine. He flicked his tail once with a snap, and tapped on the console to bring up outside notifications. Bridge was reporting sensor troubles related to some nebula. "Bridge, This is Engineering. I'll need to run a quick distance calibration of the sensors, they may flick out on you for a few moments." He said, thinking that they weren't exactly doing much good as they were anyway.

Yeoman Heather being a servant would also not make the cut, but she had another duty and more important to be her new best friend. [ Ens. Joshua Niles - Observation Lounge, USS Mac ] Niles might be a very, very, very junior officer with but strictly limited experience, but he could not mistake the tone of voice he was getting from the Yeoman. Yes, she was older than he was, and she'd earned her rank as a Petty Officer through experience and time in the service; he could respect that, and that was the reason he'd not just flat-out ordered her to provide the required PADD for the princess. However, he could tell when 'sir' really meant something else far less polite, and the very last thing he needed was getting some pushback at this time. He damn well understood that in the grand scheme of thing, she was the expert at her job and while technically qualified for his he still had much to learn, but that hardly entitled subordinates to taking potshots at him; well, at least not in the presence of a foreign dignitary. However, he held his tongue, though not without shooting Yeoman Hill a single hard look, with the kind of wounded dignity only a very junior officer could muster. Though, he hardly had the time to think on this, for the Princess went off again. Her wonder at Federation medical technology was something that, frankly, did not apply to the current situation at all, although he knew that at some point he would have to at least see her brought to speed as to the minimum she would know in order to function in something resembling a semi-autonomous fashion while she was on board. However, he had a very strong impression that while she might have the capability to learn, she well might not have the inclination to do so, let alone apply the knowledge on her own. Yep, the Captain has to hate my guts...However, first things first, he had to address something, and perhaps salve the Yeoman who appeared to have taken offence to being given a rather simple and untaxing order. "Your Highness, with all respect, Yeoman Hill is not a servant. She is a fully fledged member of Starfleet, and an expert in starship administration who is essential to the smooth running of this ship. She has a very varied skillset, but to consider her a servant is to do her a great disservice."At least, getting that out was buying him some time to think. To take a knee and be welcomed to her court, now that he knew there was no oath of fealty required of him, would not be so onerous. However, there remained the problem she expected him to advise her and help shape her government policy? Was there a breakdown in communication somewhere that he could not quite put a finger on? And, what didn't help, was that 'Captain' Jett, who apparently had been a Starfleet officer at one time, going off on his experiences as a junior officer, not quite addressing him, but with comments that seemed definitely directed to the young Ensign who was desperately trying to keep his head above water and not wind up stepping on his genitalia as a result of a stupid mistake or losing his focus. One deep breath. And another. Clear the mind of distractions; identify the situation and the problem; determine an order to address things in; come up with a course of action. He was an officer, and he remembered the mantra he had been taught when the leadership aspect of his training had been covered: make a decision, any decision; if it's the right one, bonus; if not, work with it and fix the problem. First problem: being part of her court; she would expect him to help form policy in the future; technically that would count as a direct request for Federation support, which would absolve him of the Prime Directive prohibition in injecting himself within local decision making. However, he had not been empowered to act in such a role by his chain of command, for he was to be strictly Captain Ellis' representative. One problem solved. Slowly, he straightened from his bow, and took a deep breath. "Your Highness, you do me great honour in wanting me to advise you in forming government policy, but I am not empowered to act in that role. I am not a diplomat or a politician, I am a tactical officer and a very junior one at that and my orders are to act as Captain Ellis' representative to you and your people. All I can do is provide you with facts and unbiased information and assist you and your people in being comfortable and feel as much at home as possible while you will be our guests; however, what I will do at the very first opportunity will be to forward your request to Captain Ellis to have someone of appropriate standing to serve in that capacity attached to your court."Second problem: the princess had a degree of logistical needs that would need to be addressed. Perhaps some of her people had relevant qualifications? If not, the ship had resources that could be tapped. Beauty supplies? There was an officers' spa available, and his indoc package had stated it had a civilian staff. With some wrangling, perhaps one could also be coopted to serve as a body servant, at least to some degree? And for a VIP, he could arrange for a quarters visit rather than make the princess go to them... although having her go through a full spa treatment would buy him precious hours to get quarters arranged and to brief all of her party about how to basically function on board a modern ship... Also, while the Mac did not carry its full consular complement, so far as he knew, there were some galley stewards that could be made available, if he could ask the Ops department if they could be spared. Yes, he needed that sort of time! One more deep breath, time to address this one. "Your Highness, we do not have shops per se on this ship, but we have the means to produce anything you may require. We also have a dedicated spa facility on board that is intended for rest and relaxation, but its staff are trained in ways to properly advice and supply you with your required cosmetics, and also see to your wardrobe, as that is an area that is entirely out of the realm of my expertise. In fact, if you would allow me to guide you there, I could leave you in their very capable hands while I go arrange for suitable quarters and staff for the duration of your stay?"

[USS Mac - Bridge] "Sounds like a plan. Standby." To run a simulation on his station, Derek first needed to transfer actual helm functions to another bridge post. "PO, you good to cover flying for a few minutes?" He asked, glancing over at Ops. "Thanks." Clearing his console and uploading the science officer's test run instead of a live interface with the ship's controls, he made sure there was a little flashing 'Simulation Only' icon in the upper corner before advancing the throttle. "Here we go, Ensign...?" He was at a bit of a disadvantage with names, seeing as how Felicity had announced his to the bridge. "What do I call you besides 'ensign'?" Derek shot a quick look over to the scientist coordinating them before concentrating back on his display instrumentation. In a shuttlecraft when they actually went into the nebula, he'd be able to pilot visually as well, but since it was only a simulation, the static image on their viewscreen was of no help. "Crossing the threshold now." Derek pulled back on power, letting inertia only from their previous thrust move them into the 'clouds'. "Maintaining 1/8th impulse forward momentum, awaiting sensor input for required course changes from your doppler."

[ NPC - Lt Laurel Andrews - Bridge, USS Mac] [...] " Captain, Commander, I've got something showing on long range sensors, it appears to be a ship of some kind, trying to get more details on what type it is".[...] She watched him exit into the turbolift; and while he left, another entered. [...] =/\= "This is Captain Felicity Ellis of the USS Mac. Unidentified ship, please be aware that this nebula may have some detrimental affects on your systems. We recommend you keep a safe distance." =/\= [...] Del Rio opened his channel =/\= This is Lord Del Rio of the Scout Ship Adelante contacting Captain Felicity Ellis of the USS Mac. "Sounds like a plan. Standby." "Here we go, Ensign...?" He was at a bit of a disadvantage with names, seeing as how Felicity had announced his to the bridge. "Maintaining 1/8th impulse forward momentum, awaiting sensor input for required course changes from your doppler." [Ens. Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac] Derek began to upload the simulation, but he did make it apparent that introductions of a fashion needed to be maid. "Quinn. Isaiah Quinn," he said briefly. He initially decided that surnames would suffice, but figured adding his familiar name couldn't hurt. Besides, if he was going to fly a shuttle using a radar that was made up on the fly, he'd want to know by whom as well. Just as he reached the end of the upload and began the simulation, Isaiah made some changes based on the feedback he was already getting from Black's console. "First round of input from the doppler coming your way... now," said Quinn. He took the feedback he was receiving and converted them to a progressive mapping image that would give Black a path to follow. He set computer to continue to repeat the process, building the map while he monitored Black's real-time reaction time to detected obstacles. This would help calibrate the process to the pilot's style of flight, helping to discern an optimal flight speed and increase their chances of navigating the nebula. As he worked, Quinn overheard Lt. Adams announce that a ship was appraoching. It wasn't long before they identified themselves as Samarans, checking to see if the monarch they'd tried to kill by destroying the royal ship was actually dead. It was certainly a complication that they didn't need. It was possible that their interference could compromise the integrity of the doppler's readings. He waited for the moment to share that information with the Captain Ellis as it was certainly something she needed to be aware of. "Captain, this photonic doppler is extremely sensitive. With no point of reference, it would be extremely difficult to detect any errors that result from even the slightest of interruptions." It was a rather polite way of pointing out they could end up with a flawed means of navigating the nebula which could be catastrophic. Isaiah also heard the call from Engineering, but sense he wasn't actively using the sensors, he didn't see how they could impact his work. ***********
[...] K'Dex strolled into Engineering, flicking eyes about for a general feel of the room. [NPC - PO1 - S'Riia - Engineering, Deck 16, USS Mac] Sabotage. It was the word that no one wanted to say, but a number of people couldn't help but consider it. S'Riia supposed the good news was that there didn't appear to be any immediate means of sabotage. She wasn't prepared to rule it out, but she did include all of her notations for her report to Lt. Adams. Both she and an engineer had cleared the launch tubes on Deck 20 of tampering, confirming that no damage occurred from within the tube. She had come back to Engineering to see if there were any additional news on the sensor array. Physical inspections on Deck 12 had not turned up any evidence of tampering. Review of visual records also hadn't indicated that anyone was out of area either. S'Riia overheard an engineer call to Bridge, mentioning something about calibrating the sensors. She had heard that they were pulling people off duty to help solve this issue. The black-furred Caitian hadn't been there before, she assumed he may have been one. She could only imagine the frustration of being called in, especially if he'd been sleeping. Still, it was a hazard of the uniform. S'Riia briefly checked her chronometer. She had to check in on their guests once more at the top of the hour. It wasn't something she was looking forward to if she were honest. Last time, one of them had actually tried to grab her tail. Her tail. She exhaled as she moved towards the Caitian. She was only half Caitian herself, her Gideon genes had suppressed a number of her Caitian traits, or so she'd always been told. "I don't suppose you have any working theories about what's caused this disruption?" she asked. Professionally, she was asking as his input was pertinent to her investigation. Personally, she hadn't had the pleasure of meeting the Caitian before. It couldn't hurt to make introductions. "I'm S'Riia, by the way. Security," she introduced herself, assuming there was no need to include rank, especially when they were visible upon their uniforms.

"This is Oerstadt to engineering, keep me updated on the progress." Damian knew that whilst the sensors were being tested and calibrated, he would have time to tend to the other matters at hand. Anything that included losing sensors involving several departments; it was rarely going to be an easy ride.

[Ens. Lurai Sren – USS Mac – Observation lounge] Lurai's jaw tensed as she struggled even harder than before to suppress a laugh. The princess was asking Niles to kneel. This was simply hilarious. The young ensign seemed to quite graciously talk himself out of it, and she studied the princess curiously to see what her reaction would be. The amusing royalty accepted her request to get scanned, and Lurai smiled as the younger woman asked about her medical equipment. Hopefully it wouldn't be against Starfleet regulation to give a very rudimentary explanation. ”This is a medical tricorder. It tells me what injuries or conditions a patient has.” While speaking, she scanned the princess. The blood she had on her wasn't hers, so she didn't seem to have any injuries of her own. ”This is a dermal regenerator. It heals any skin or tissue damage. Fortunately, you have none of those, so there's no need to use it.” She smiled again as her royal higness Victoria asked how Lurai's people had become so technologically advanced. ”I'm afraid my people can't take credit for inventing these”, she said indicating the tricorder and regenerator. ”These were invented and developed by the scientists and engineers of the United Federation of Planets, the one that Ensign Niles just mentioned.”
