[NPC - PO1 - S'Riia - Engineering, Deck 16, USS Mac] Sabotage. It was the word that no one wanted to say, but a number of people couldn't help but consider it. S'Riia supposed the good news was that there didn't appear to be any immediate means of sabotage. She wasn't prepared to rule it out, but she did include all of her notations for her report to Lt. Adams. Both she and an engineer had cleared the launch tubes on Deck 20 of tampering, confirming that no damage occurred from within the tube. She had come back to Engineering to see if there were any additional news on the sensor array. Physical inspections on Deck 12 had not turned up any evidence of tampering. Review of visual records also hadn't indicated that anyone was out of area either. S'Riia overheard an engineer call to Bridge, mentioning something about calibrating the sensors. She had heard that they were pulling people off duty to help solve this issue. The black-furred Caitian hadn't been there before, she assumed he may have been one. She could only imagine the frustration of being called in, especially if he'd been sleeping. Still, it was a hazard of the uniform. S'Riia briefly checked her chronometer. She had to check in on their guests once more at the top of the hour. It wasn't something she was looking forward to if she were honest. Last time, one of them had actually tried to grab her tail. Her tail. She exhaled as she moved towards the Caitian. She was only half Caitian herself, her Gideon genes had suppressed a number of her Caitian traits, or so she'd always been told. "I don't suppose you have any working theories about what's caused this disruption?" she asked. Professionally, she was asking as his input was pertinent to her investigation. Personally, she hadn't had the pleasure of meeting the Caitian before. It couldn't hurt to make introductions. "I'm S'Riia, by the way. Security," she introduced herself, assuming there was no need to include rank, especially when they were visible upon their uniforms.

"This is Oerstadt to engineering, keep me updated on the progress." Damian knew that whilst the sensors were being tested and calibrated, he would have time to tend to the other matters at hand. Anything that included losing sensors involving several departments; it was rarely going to be an easy ride.

Why it's reaching past the nebula towards our ship I don't know." He said, as the results of the distance calibration came in, frowning. "Don't know at all." K'Dex stood there solemnly, trying to think of the best option. A deflector reconfigured into a dish scanner to get the range of the radiation? A transporter beacon test to see if that would break through? Extending the shields to form a bump bubble? No. This is where science is supposed to figure out the answer, and he just configured the solution, and then he went back to sleep. "Oerstadt, All I'm getting is broadband radiation, almost like a jamming signal, saturating the nebula, extended towards out position. Aft sensors still operational until we enter the nebula."He said, slight edges of his voice with frustration. The last time he'd dealt with radiation clouds, it had been an intentional hiding place, where they expected to not have sensors. Of his idea's so far, the best he'd come up with was to convert the dish scanner. K'Dex glanced up at a crewman returning. "You done? Good, I need the emitter on deck 2 disconnected, and tied into the sensor feed on conduit .... His voice faltered, realizing the conduits are different on this ship. A grumbling began in his throat, as he pulled up the schematic of the area he needed. "Emitter on deck 2, number 17, tied to the D3 sensor return conduit. Please. Thank you." He said, finishing the please and thank you as he realized he might have been rather brusque with the crewman. He grunted, looking down, beginning the configuration they'd need. Increase power levels and emitter settings on the adjacent emitters, configure return data to be from a dish sensor, reduce power to that same emitter, and turn off the emitter all together, but still maintaining minimal power to correlate between the radiation differences. It would take some time. "Oerstadt, I'm configuring emitter 17 into a dish receiver, going to see if I can get a range of the radiation to be able to filter it out of our standard sensors. Let science know I might need a pair of eyes on the incoming data." He said distractedly, as his claws clicked across the console.

Del Rio opened his channel =/\= This is Lord Del Rio of the Scout Ship Adelante contacting Captain Felicity Ellis of the USS Mac. We are undergoing a scouting mission and we are equipped with our PXG – 4000 scanners, state of the art. Maybe our scanners will help you. In Exchange, we need to confirm the Death of Princess Victoria. We need to confirm that you don’t have the capacity to Dematerlize (Transport), if so. You don’t need to kill her yourself, you can hand her over to us and we will kill her. =/\= [USS Mac - Bridge] "Sounds like a plan. Standby." To run a simulation on his station, Derek first needed to transfer actual helm functions to another bridge post. "PO, you good to cover flying for a few minutes?" He asked, glancing over at Ops. "Thanks." Clearing his console and uploading the science officer's test run instead of a live interface with the ship's controls, he made sure there was a little flashing 'Simulation Only' icon in the upper corner before advancing the throttle. "Here we go, Ensign...?" He was at a bit of a disadvantage with names, seeing as how Felicity had announced his to the bridge. "What do I call you besides 'ensign'?" Derek shot a quick look over to the scientist coordinating them before concentrating back on his display instrumentation. In a shuttlecraft when they actually went into the nebula, he'd be able to pilot visually as well, but since it was only a simulation, the static image on their viewscreen was of no help. "Crossing the threshold now." Derek pulled back on power, letting inertia only from their previous thrust move them into the 'clouds'. "Maintaining 1/8th impulse forward momentum, awaiting sensor input for required course changes from your doppler."[Ens. Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac] [...] As he worked, Quinn overheard Lt. Adams announce that a ship was appraoching. It wasn't long before they identified themselves as Samarans, checking to see if the monarch they'd tried to kill by destroying the royal ship was actually dead. It was certainly a complication that they didn't need. It was possible that their interference could compromise the integrity of the doppler's readings. He waited for the moment to share that information with the Captain Ellis as it was certainly something she needed to be aware of. "Captain, this photonic doppler is extremely sensitive. With no point of reference, it would be extremely difficult to detect any errors that result from even the slightest of interruptions." It was a rather polite way of pointing out they could end up with a flawed means of navigating the nebula which could be catastrophic. Isaiah also heard the call from Engineering, but sense he wasn't actively using the sensors, he didn't see how they could impact his work. [Felicity Ellis - Bridge, USS Mac]The response from the Adelante was ridiculous. Felicity wasn't sure what else she should have expected, considering the content of Baker's report and the snatches of conversation she'd overheard from the officers present during the 'rescue'. She couldn't help but look over at the Commander, her eyebrows raised as if to ask "Is this for real?"Then, when Quinn warned her of their sensitive work, she pinched the bridge of her nose and managed to suppress a sigh. The last thing they needed right at that moment was the appearance of the scout ship and it's demanding Lord Del Rio. She glanced over the ship specifications that Andrews had forwarded to her personal display, and wondered just how diplomatically she could possibly word her response. Next to the Mac the Samaran vessel was a dinosaur; but that wasn't exactly something the Captain could say. =/\= "A pleasure to speak with you, Lord Del Rio of the Adelante. We are currently conducting a very delicate experiment in attempt to find a way to map and navigate this nebula, and we would appreciate it greatly if you could maintain your current distance and course. Once we've finished our-" She broke off for the slightest of pauses to glance over at the Science station before continuing, "Scientific investigations I would be very happy to answer all of your questions and afford us the opportunity to get to know each other better." =/\= While she awaited a response she switched to an internal channel. =/\= "Ellis to Niles. Report." =/\= They might be facing down a tricky, mysterious phenomenon without, but that didn't mean there weren't similar issues to navigate within. "Quinn, Black, please proceed without delay. I don't want to give the Adelante time to do anything."

[Ens. Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac] Derek began to upload the simulation, but he did make it apparent that introductions of a fashion needed to be maid. "Quinn. Isaiah Quinn," he said briefly. He initially decided that surnames would suffice, but figured adding his familiar name couldn't hurt. Besides, if he was going to fly a shuttle using a radar that was made up on the fly, he'd want to know by whom as well. Just as he reached the end of the upload and began the simulation, Isaiah made some changes based on the feedback he was already getting from Black's console. "First round of input from the doppler coming your way... now," said Quinn. He took the feedback he was receiving and converted them to a progressive mapping image that would give Black a path to follow. He set computer to continue to repeat the process, building the map while he monitored Black's real-time reaction time to detected obstacles. This would help calibrate the process to the pilot's style of flight, helping to discern an optimal flight speed and increase their chances of navigating the nebula. As he worked, Quinn overheard Lt. It was a rather polite way of pointing out they could end up with a flawed means of navigating the nebula which could be catastrophic. Isaiah also heard the call from Engineering, but sense he wasn't actively using the sensors, he didn't see how they could impact his work. [USS Mac - Bridge] "Nice to meet you, Isaiah. I'm Derek. And I see it, making the course corrections." During basic flight training, there had been scenarios where the viewscreens were blocked off, and they had to pilot their hoppers based solely on instrumentation. This was similar, with an uncomfortable caveat. Quinn and the computer did most of the hard work, showing an indicated trace of their desired flightpath, and Derek just had to follow it, using thrusters to point them in the right direction before altering their trajectory with small bursts from the impulse drive. Because of the doppler's method of mapping though, instead of a smoothly transitioning trace, it was moreso a game of tortoise and the hare, and Derek had to be careful not to overshoot their scanned heading. He could hear something else going on in the background, but ignored it, focusing on his task and only giving a slight nod in response to Felicity's prompt. "I'm not sure I'd be comfortable taking anything much larger than a runabout through this mess." Derek commented offhandedly, intended for Quinn while making another adjustment. "Some parts of this mapped corridor narrow down quite a bit. And 1/8th impulse is as quick as we can safely go, in my opinion, anything faster and the thrusters wouldn't be able to suspend our inertia quick enough for some of these maneuvers." Just as he was starting to get a feel for the unique style of flying they'd have to perform inside the nebula, his screen froze with a 'Simulation Complete' message flashing up. "Is that it? Or is that just how far our probes got before they stopped transmitting?" Derek asked, turning in his seat towards Quinn. "So long as your 'doppler' doesn't fail and I don't mess up, looks like we might be in business. Think a shuttle or runabout could be modified to survive whatever it is we'd be flying into?"

Having been motioned to take up Engineering I, Damian went about assigning a triage of what was important and what was vital at the current moment. He nodded towards Derek who still found time for pleasantries as he proceeded with the simulation. Isaiah monitored the readout coming from Black's console closely. As he did so, Isaiah grew more and more comfortable with the integrity of the photonic doppler. He had to agree with black, a runabout or shuttle would be ideal, especially considering this would be the first time they were using this method. He stated that about an eighth of impulse was the limit that they could safely travel. "You'll get no argument from--" he began as something caught his eye. "Wait a minute," said the scientist. He worked quickly to overlay the mapped region with the flight pattern that Black had taken int he simulation. "I can't believe I missed that," he said a hint of frustration. His fingers moved across his console quickly and he popped out of his seat to work briefly at the station behind him. He had heard all of Black's question, but was clearly preoccupied with what he'd seen. "No," Isaiah said flatly. "It's just as far as we've gotten, but a shuttle's not going to work. If we take a shuttle into that nebula, it'd be as good as lost." While he wasn't the most comfortable around telepaths, he almost wished he had one at that moment to just pluck the thoughts from his mind and share them with everyone else. Since that wasn't an option, he did his best to explain. "I overheard what Engineering shared, about some sort of broadband radiation saturating the nebula. As he said, we enter the nebula and we're blind all around. We wouldn't even be able to make heads or tails of the direction we're moving in. Even the photonic doppler would be useless because there'd be no stationary point of reference," he reported. "However, it may be possible to take the Mac in."This nebula was starting to sound like the Bermuda Triangle. Legends of ships and airplanes would going in and never coming out. Isaiah took a deep breath, because he was about to walk back everything he'd just said about this nebula with science. He pressed a few keys on his console, quickly checking his figures as he worked the theory in real time. "There's like a low-level EM band embedded in that radiation. That may be what's causing havoc with the sensors. It's possible to modulate the shield frequency to reflect most of it the radiation, but not all of it. If we bolster the forward shields, we should be able to use the photonic doppler to navigate through the nebula after the sensors are rebooted. Sensors may even gain a little sight ahead of us, so that we're not cruising completely blind. The reason this wouldn't work with a shuttle is because they wouldn't have enough power to bolster the shields and run the photonic doppler at the same time."The scientiest looked towards the command area. "I can send tactical the modulated shield frequency, and we can coordinate the sensor re-start with Engineering." That was the easy part. The more difficult part caused the scientist to shift his gaze elsewhere. Isaiah looked towards Derek. "If we light the way, could you take the Mac through? he asked. It was a tall ask, and Isaiah didn't envy the position he'd put Derek in. He decided to leave the words 'in theory' off this time, just in case they were all crazy enough to give this a try. What was it they said: fake it until you make it? That's definitely what this was. **********
[NPC - PO1 S'Riia - Engineering, Deck 16, USS Mac] S'Riia nodded softly as she heard K'Dex's report about the radiation. It was affecting the ship, but only from one side. And how it was able to reach beyond the nebula was perplexing. She could see him falling completely into the problem as most engineers did. She didn't want to disturb him any further, but there was one question that lingered, now more so, than ever. "Are we sure that this... interference... is a natural phenomenon?" Of course, the only other possibility was that it was artificially being manipulated, which begged a number of questions, such as: Who? And why?

[USS Mac - Bridge] Derek frowned, turning back to his console and bringing up the tracking information from their simulated run. A shuttlecraft was small, maneuverable, and if he made any errors, there'd be some breathing room to correct them. On the other hand, Mac displaced quite a bit more tonnage. The limits on their propulsion would be one thing, he'd also have to consider their longitudinal rotation and increased draft. Theoretically, it was possible. In practice, Derek wasn't so sure, both with his piloting skills and the plan. Something else the science officer mentioned caught his attention as well. "Issiah, did they say what type of radiation we're looking at? And are we concerned about sufficient protection from our shields and hull plating, or prolonged exposure to it?" He asked, dipping his toes back into his medical past. "There's eight hundred crew members onboard, at least a dozen different species. If the radiation can affect sensors to the point where we'd be blind, and if it's possibly causing our probes to malfunction inside the nebula, what would it do to living tissue?""As for taking us through, I'll do my best, but I won't make any promises. Fortunately though, it's not my call." Derek turned halfway around, looking at the two women sitting behind him, and considered one of them with a wane, slightly apologetic, expression. "Captain?"

"Captain?"[Ens. Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac] He could certainly understand the pilot's concerns and applauded his caution. No matter what his capabilities were, certainly nothing was worth risking the lives of the crew. With that he could agree. At the end of the day, he was leaving it in the captain's hands. After all, it was certainly her decision and no one else's. Though, it couldn't hurt to have all the facts. "The broadband radiation is electromagnetic in nature," Isaiah shared. "The hull is designed to insulate us from lower bands of radiations. The sort coming from the nebula matches that type. If there was any significant hazard to organic tissue, Sickbay would have been flooded with patients by now." Isaiah took a deep breath. "Still, I wouldn't look to buy any real estate for retirement here."He turned his eyes back towards the captain, as probably a number of officers had. Her orders would definitely set the pace for what was to come next.

It was a tall ask, and Isaiah didn't envy the position he'd put Derek in. He decided to leave the words 'in theory' off this time, just in case they were all crazy enough to give this a try. What was it they said: fake it until you make it? That's definitely what this was. [Felicity Ellis - Bridge, USS Mac]Felicity was about to order the launch of a shuttlecraft under Derek's command, when Quinn asked them to wait and his words began to carry a frustrated note. She listened intently, some of it going a little over her head, but when her former Chief Medical Officer began to speak of radiation risks in response, she thought she had the simple answer to the question straight away. Flying anything into the nebula seemed folly, irresponsible, and not something she should risk the crew or the ship for, mystery or no mystery. With that in mind, she still remained silent, allowing the two ensigns to work through their theories and questions. Quinn's reassurances that the radiation was electromagnetic in nature was helpful, but she still remained cautious. The scout ship hadn't yet responded, but Andrews hadn't updated as to their position, so she assumed they were holding and planned to acquiesce to her request. Pushing that little problem from her thoughts and focusing on the one at hand, she called up the doppler's mapped corridor. "I'd like to break this route into stages - let's call them pit-stops, with the first one only 2,000 km from present position. We'll aim for each one, one at a time, stop for our bearings and gauge the data, compensating for any potential drift as we go. If we don't get passed the first pit-stop, we can metaphorically take our ball and go home." She turned toward Engineering I and continued, "Let us know when the reboot is complete. As Quinn suggested, we'll want to boost forward shields. Despite the lack of danger from the radiation, I'd still rather not leave our asses completely exposed to the unknown, though."Her eyes were back on Science for a moment, a brow raised in question. "50% enough?" She believed she could trust everyone present to give it to her straight. Feeling a little restless, she moved to stand. "Tactical, if that dinosaur in our wake so much as squeaks, I want to know about it. Helm, 1/8th impulse please, let's see how close we can get." Felicity stepped closer to Navigation and awaited response.

[ Thea - Bridge, USS Mac] With the arrival of the Samaran ship, Thea couldn't quite believe was happening, especially as they were in the middle of a serious situation. Listening to the exchange, Thea was forcibly reminded of the last Lord that she had encountered during Jett and the Princess's rescue and wondered if they all acted like spoilt children. Still she caught the look from the Captain and understood exactly what she meant. Hopefully the other ship would decide to back off because they had more important things to deal with right now, as Isaiah and Derek continued their discussions regarding the simulation that they were running. Of course it still left them with yet another headache to deal with when it came to the Princess, but Felicity dealt with it better than she could and now, they were about to face the nebula and it's secrets, whilst waiting for an update from Niles. That would be interesting to hear as Isaiah then Black brought up potential issues, came up with solutions until ultimately it came down to the Captain to make the final decision. With that made, now it was time to see what would happen next and whether they would end up the same way as the probes or not. ********** [ Lt Laurel Andrews - Bridge, USS Mac] Ever since the ship had showed up on the sensors, until they answered the Captain's hail. Laurel had monitored the situation closely, just in case there were any changes and if so, she would immediately notify the Captain and XO. However so far they seemed to be behaving which was a good thing and not because the Mac outgunned them. Still that didn't stop the Security Chief from paying attention to the rest of the conversation, especially as a plan was made and new orders were given by the Captain. " Acknowledged Captain" she replied, returning to the sensors to not only watch over the other ship but also if she was needed in regards to the shields.

Somewhere outside the ship ….
It was if the nebula was watching and waiting for the next delicious morsel to enter its domain. After feeding on the probes, it craved something larger to satisfy the hunger, before the call of the void summoned it back to the emptiness of home.
Time was limited in this universe and soon the pull to return became stronger, denying it the chance to feast. For those on the Mac, without sensors, they would only see what was happening via the viewscreen, as the nebula began to collapse in on itself. Exposing the anomaly within only briefly, before a shockwave of radiation and energy shook both the Mac and the Adelante violently. Causing system overload and plunging both ships into darkness.
This was the anomaly's final act as it disappeared, the space it occupied returning to normal as if it never existed.

[ Observation Lounge Thomas Jett & Princess Victoria However, first things first, he had to address something, and perhaps salve the Yeoman who appeared to have taken offence to being given a rather simple and untaxing order. "Your Highness, with all respect, Yeoman Hill is not a servant. She is a fully fledged member of Starfleet, and an expert in starship administration who is essential to the smooth running of this ship. She has a very varied skillset, but to consider her a servant is to do her a great disservice."Slowly, he straightened from his bow, and took a deep breath. "Your Highness, you do me great honour in wanting me to advise you in forming government policy, but I am not empowered to act in that role. I am not a diplomat or a politician, I am a tactical officer and a very junior one at that and my orders are to act as Captain Ellis' representative to you and your people. All I can do is provide you with facts and unbiased information and assist you and your people in being comfortable and feel as much at home as possible while you will be our guests; however, what I will do at the very first opportunity will be to forward your request to Captain Ellis to have someone of appropriate standing to serve in that capacity attached to your court."One more deep breath, time to address this one. "Your Highness, we do not have shops per se on this ship, but we have the means to produce anything you may require. We also have a dedicated spa facility on board that is intended for rest and relaxation, but its staff are trained in ways to properly advice and supply you with your required cosmetics, and also see to your wardrobe, as that is an area that is entirely out of the realm of my expertise. In fact, if you would allow me to guide you there, I could leave you in their very capable hands while I go arrange for suitable quarters and staff for the duration of your stay?"The Princess smiled at the dashing young Officer as he tried to explain that Yeoman Heather Hill was much more than servant. She was confused for a certain on why she would have refused the honor of being her personal servant. For years, people would have tried to get her attention and fight for her attention, however, this culture was different. She appeared confused and looked at the Tactical Officer. “I might just misunderstand this culture. For us, I was offering her a high station. Something that people would fight for. I would offer her a Station so she could potentially find her future match. “. She smiled at the man as he explained why he could not be a representative. Instead of anger, she focused on his insecurity. It appeared that the man felt it was only a tactical officer. In reality, he was not. She could see he was something greater. “I understand your position Ensign Joshua Niles, but I disagree. You are not just a tactical person; you are an individual with manners. You strike me as a honest person. Even right now when you disagree with me. I believe when you came with me, you were supposed to help me. I need help not just on the physical things but also understanding this strange culture. I see greatness in you, and in the stories a good leader is the one that let them informed. I don’t want a regular diplomat, I want you.As he mentioned of her dresses and they were not shopping she was confused. How would she measure herself? How to see which outfit look better. How to inspect for any stains and wrinkles? The device and the method seemed strange to her. As she wanted to see multiple wardrobes, makeup, shoes would match to each one. “I am confused, your ways seems strange to me. How is it that you people measure? How would I know what is acceptable. Nevertheless, I accept your guidance” . She finished with a smiled as she would have offered her elbow to the Officer to guide her. [Ens. Lurai Sren – USS Mac – Observation lounge] The amusing royalty accepted her request to get scanned, and Lurai smiled as the younger woman asked about her medical equipment. Hopefully it wouldn't be against Starfleet regulation to give a very rudimentary explanation. ”This is a medical tricorder. It tells me what injuries or conditions a patient has.” While speaking, she scanned the princess. The blood she had on her wasn't hers, so she didn't seem to have any injuries of her own. ”This is a dermal regenerator. It heals any skin or tissue damage. Fortunately, you have none of those, so there's no need to use it.” She smiled again as her royal higness Victoria asked how Lurai's people had become so technologically advanced. ”I'm afraid my people can't take credit for inventing these”, she said indicating the tricorder and regenerator. ”These were invented and developed by the scientists and engineers of the United Federation of Planets, the one that Ensign Niles just mentioned.”
The Princess turned to the Doctor and smiled at her. She appeared to be smart and knew about her ” Interesting. Fascinating devices, we don’t have those developed by our people. For use Doctors and are highly educated people. Can I ask you from what Noble House do you come? . She inquired as in her place only nobles were allowed the schooling and the resources as a professional. She was interested in these people “The United Federation of Planets”. She stood silent and inquired “What is this United Federation of Planets?” . She inquired. If she could figure out what this people is and how their technology work maybe she could bring it to her people and continue and bring a new “Golden Age”. Yes, just like the stories and this is the part in which she learns about different technology and ways. The Princess finished her statement when the light of the ship simply went out. She looked around and appeared to be confused on the situation. “Is this normal?” . She inquired as she did not know if it was normal for the “United Federation of Planets” to turn their lights off. But she was not sure of them since some of their customs appeared to be off and foreign for her. She would not lie the moment itself and the darkness frightened her. As it also reminded her of the situation that she went through. How the nobles turned the lights off of the Royal Family and use the darkness to kill them. She quickly went and tried to hold the harm of the Tactical Security Officer. The handsome men. As she tried to hold him she asked “Please don’t let me alone in the dark” . She said in a scared tone as she shook a little bit as her mind had flashback of the Royal Guards fighting for them and some of her friends dying for her.

Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac] Isaiah listened as Captain Ellis laid out the plan of a steady progression. A series of checkpoints to ascertain their proverbial pulse before proceeding. It was cautious, but more than that it was smart. He set about working at his station as she asked the question of whether 50% to the shields would suffice. "That should be more than sufficient, Captain," replied. He had gone on to set things in motion to monitor from his end, as well as to make certain the final calibrations to the photonic doppler would suffice. He only looked up at the main viewscreen for just a moment, as he noticed the sudden illumination in the nebula. That was new. Yet there was a slight ripple in the screen. Suddenly, the Mac gave a sudden jerk as if they were hit by something. A wave of energy. Automatic alert systems began to sound. He felt the hum and vibration going from his station. Experience had taught him what was coming next. He pushed back from his station, and no sooner had his hands left the console that an explosion of sparks burst from it, as well as the Science II station. Isaiah's seat dumped him onto the floor, as the sparks rained down on top of him. He could hear a series of overloads coming from all around the Bridge. And what followed was darkness. There were a few tertiary pops and sparks, as he turned to inspect his surroundings. There was a ringing in his ears. He grabbed for the railing nearby to pull himself up, to look around the Bridge. There was a thin layer of smoke lingering above. Some of the panels along the walls were blinking as if trying to clean to life while others were dark. His eyes looked around for familiar faces: Ellis... Baker... Black. "Everyone all right?" he called out, hoping to hear a response. A few coughs followed his own words, as he tried to catch his breath following. His eyes looked down at his own console, seeing that it was flickering as well. He pressed it a few times, but for the moment it was unresponsive. His eyes glanced at the Engineering station, Ops and Tactical as well, wondering if either of them had better luck.

Tag: K'Dex Soft Tag: (Sickbay, Bridge if Comms are currently operable) [Engineering, USS Mac] K'Dex groaned as he felt a slight shake. The shaking caused him to hurt. If there was something beyond excessive amounts of work for little benefit that he hated, it was when it made him hurt. "I'm here. Unfortunately." K'Dex opened his eyes, looking up at the security officer from before. He realized he was looking in a very dark light, nearly blinded even with his eyesight. His mind flashed back to his posting as Damage Control, and realized that apparently, they had decided to assign him to the same thing here, without as much as a memo. He lay there for a moment, taking stock of how his body felt. The first thing was to uncrimp his tail from under himself. He tried rolling to the left, and yowled out loudly as his side made contact with the floor. He instinctively curled in, which brought him face down, his skin oozing unpleasantly against the floor more as he rolled further. K'Dex stopped for a moment, before leaping up to hands and feet, with yet another fierce yowl of pain, before standing. He glanced down as some of the crewmen who hadn't been injured had apparently opened the emergency locker already and were distributing lights. His left side burned, with a fiercer peeling of the skin, a section about the size of his paw, on his side. It oozed plasma slightly, hence the sticking to the floor. K'Dex slowly stretched his paws out, poking the edges of the area tenderly, and surveyed his body. It wasn't pleasant, but he could function for a bit, especially if he got some pain killers. K'Dex took a moment to glance around as the engineering team moved swiftly. He turned to look at the warp core he'd been in front of, the console before it blown out on the left side. The warp core was dark. No, not dark, vented. Emergency protocols had vented the matter and anti-matter mix out of the core to a container with a neutralizing agent. That was both a relief, and a bad sign. It meant that everything would probably be dead. "Warp Core vented!" He announced to the room. Some of the people there wouldn't have as good eyesight in the dim light as he would. However, the waving lights were starting to cause irritation. They needed to get properly set up. "Get the manual switches flipped for emergency power. Get the injured moved to the open area by the door, or put red tape around them if you don't think they should be. As soon as emergency power is on, run a level 4 ship-wide diagnostic." He yelled out. As people continued to move in the noise, he assumed enough people had heard him. He didn't know the crew well enough to know if there was another officer there at the time, but this was one of the few areas he excelled in for some strange reason. A sense of urgency and absolutely having to get to work brought out a different side of him. He hissed slightly as his left arm unconsciously brushed the burn. That'd slow.. he looked back down again and gave a soft, short whine. His fur was all messed up now, singed and burned. It'd take forever to get it back to a nice sleek coat. His mind was brought back into order as he saw the traditional red lights coming on, showing that emergency power was on. Why it hadn't turned on automatically was a question for another time. He flicked his ears back in annoyance as the alert began to sound, and moved to the main console... He sighed as he realized the main console was quite dead, it having been the one to blow up in front of him. "Someone please turn that off?" He said plaintively. He glanced to the security officer next to him, temporarily having forgotten about her. "Thank you for waking me. There is much to be done. Communications should have came back up with emergency power, you should try the bridge and medbay again."

[USS Mac - Bridge] There are occasionally moments in a person's life when they can see trouble coming, a gut feeling or sorts, when your instincts are telling you everything's about to go wrong and you had better get the hell out of it's way. Unfortunately, this was not one of those times for Derek. Having taken his eyes off the viewscreen as he increased power to the impulse drive, he'd been taken completely off guard when the shockwave hit. The ship's inertial dampeners were about as effective as wiping with single ply toilet paper, and it wasn't long after Derek picked himself off the deck, patting out embers from his singed uniform, that he realized they were all in the shit. "I'm good. You?" He called back, gingerly peeling away charred threads from his blistery forearms. His neighbour at Ops hadn't fared quite as well when Derek's desktop blew out, a jagged shard of screen polymer jutting from the side of his head. "He's dead." Derek reported, checking vainly for a pulse while looking back at the command centre. "Flick, you there?" He asked, dropping formalities while peering through the dimness to where he'd seen her last. We need to find out what's still working, figure out how badly we're hurt. His eyes stinging from acrid smoke which now filled the room, he forced himself upright, hesitantly taking a few steps to see where else he might be hurting before carefully shifting the Ops officer's body out of his way. "Sorry buddy. We need this more than you do right now..." Derek muttered, hunching over the barely functional console. "Warp core's offline, main power's out...life support's nonfunctional. Sensors, engines, tactical, we're dead in the water." He paused when emergency lights flickered on, bathing their little piece of chaos in a macabre red glow. "Looks like someone's still working in engineering, internal comms are up. Messages coming in from throughout the ship, numerous casualties, emergency bulkheads in place on decks four, seven, eight, twelve, and seventeen. Multiple reports of trapped crew, we need to get those hatches open or life support running, or they'll suffocate."

[...] "Warp Core vented!" He announced to the room. [...] "Someone please turn that off?" He said plaintively. He glanced to the security officer next to him, temporarily having forgotten about her. "Thank you for waking me. There is much to be done. Communications should have came back up with emergency power, you should try the bridge and medbay again." [NPC - PO1 S'Riia - Engineering, USS Mac] A soft sigh of relief left the half-Caitian's lips as K'Dex actually responded. He had definitely been hurt, presumably by whatever had overloaded a number of their systems. He took his time getting back to his feet. S'Riia nearly advised him to stay put and wait for medics, but she doubted he would have adhered to that advice. As he got his bearings, he immediately did his best to issue out orders for the rest of the staff to follow. Not wishing to be in his way, she allowed him to work, heeding some of the orders he was issuing herself. She dragged a pair of engineers closer towards the door. It helped her to refine her counts as she worked with several of the other crewmen in the area on that particular task. As she moved back towards the proper area of Engineering, K'Dex thanked her for waking him. He was right that there was much to do, and it would be easier with emergency power restored. "Aye, sir," she replied. =/\= "S'Riia to Sickbay. Medical Emergency to Engineering." =/\=. She moved back towards the door and began to account for the more serious injuries. =/\= "I have two crewman that are unresponsive. Nearly a dozen suffering from second and third degree burns. Just as many experiencing symptoms of smoke inhalation, possible exposure to inflammatory fumes." =/\=. S'Riia then tapped her bridge once again. =/\= "S'Riia to Security. Status report on our guests: containment and health." =/\= She had no idea the status of the teams that were positioned outside their door, or the guests themselves (Captain Jett, Victoria and the other six soldiers). She was hopeful that Lt. Adams may have learned something. Otherwise, she figured she'd have to go and check herself.
