[Maze] Tom was confused by that creature and thought of running away. However, he remained with the group. He observed how Sir Doug gave items to Flick. And then the Stranger spoke to them about a Test. Tom listened to the order to stop and wondered. “Flick, I can take the test myself. I am sure I can pass anything if I set my mind into it. Besides this thing might have my mom.” . The Teenager commented. He would take a step forward if no one would stop him. Ready to face the test. The StrangerWithout the tests your kind will be left in the dark. You will never know peace.
Never know true harmony. Never experience existence without limits. You are narrow creatures.
One by one, the tritters faded away. Shadows began to gather in front of the young dreamer, and a billowing claw-like hand reached out. Before it could touch Thomas Jett, the wispy tendrils of black smoke dissipated. Take the test, the voice encouraged. [Felicity Ellis - The Dream, Maze]Before the response came, Felicity had taken the few silent moments to try and recall if she'd been as much of a moron as Jett had been when she was a teenager. Perhaps as obnoxious; she had always been a bit of a know-it-all. Thomas Jett was another level exasperating, though. "Don't move," she repeated in a steady voice, realising then that feeling frustration with the willful youth was a waste of energy. "This is a farce. It isn't able to give you your mother back."And then it answered her, and her mouth fell open slightly with shock. As she recovered she considered the air of superiority, the judgement, the idea that they could just be forced into performing at this being's whim. Felicity was beginning to hope that this was just a bad dream, after all. "Perhaps we are in the dark. Perhaps we are narrow. But every creature has the right to choose what path they want to take; whether that leads to enlightenment, or not. You are giving us no choice."She didn't think that was all very peaceful, herself. She waited to see if the others would have anything to add.
Tags: Thomas Jett , Dugris Zaman and Alex Graham [Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Nightmare]Sir Doug was not amused, and understandably so. This was a man with over a millennium of existence to his name, one who had met many people promising enlightenment. "You know, I've met a lot of people like you, so I know a thing or two," he sermonized. "Anyone that offers light and peace is usually looking to either take your money, or do unspeakable things to you. I can tell you're not the kind of being that needs money, so we're not interested in the rectal probe enlightenment, thank you very much."Old as he was, Doug spoke with authority. He didn't know if there would be a literal or metaphorical thing shoved up his butt, but there was always a thing.

[Sickbay - Deck 7] It quickly became obvious to Thea that Kellen was as equally frustrated with the current situation as she was, even with the subtle shake of his head, in answer to her question. Besides he was right, how could they even attempt to figure out what was needed if they didn't know what was causing it and hoped that Shavan would soon be able to give them some much needed answers. " You're right Kellen we don't and hopefully Shavan's scans are successful in giving us the information we need".She was far from feeling completely defeated and yet was thankful to the Petty Officer when he then transferred the information he had taken from his tricorder to one of the consoles and made his suggestion as to what they could use them for. It was certainly better than nothing and would give them something to do in the meantime. " Good idea, it's definitely worth a try and if we do find others awake, we can direct them here or somewhere central".Now all she had to do was just remain calm, despite the nagging worry that kept clawing at her insides about Isaiah and once this was over, nothing was going to stop her from booking some time away for the both of them. That and seeing him again, seemed to do the trick as the shipwide alert went off and smiled, despite everything relieved that Shavan had gotten to the Bridge. Or least that's what she had assumed, before the science officer contacted them as agreed. Thea looked towards Kellen as she listened to what was being said, taking it all in about the lack of intruders and how he had also picked up traces of psionic energy, as well as his suggested idea as to how they could potentially try and disperse it in order to get their people back. =/\= It's possible that there's still some kind of intruder and that they're the ones responsible for the psionic energy ..... but I agree if we can find some way to disperse it then it should hopefully allow our people to wake up ... Thea paused as an idea came to her, one that could possibly work with her earlier idea and spoke to both men. =/\= What if we administer a telepathic suppressant in gaseous form and use that to disperse the psionic energy? ... it should work in theory to block any telepathic hold that the crew is under =/\= [Petty Officer Kellen Gates - Sickbay]"Running the scans now..." Kellen Gates confirmed to the Chief Medical Officer as he worked. Only a few seconds later, he was receiving the results. "Chief, I've located 42 signatures that do not match the delta waves of the sleepers in the Mess. I'll open up a channel for you, it might do them some good to hear your voice." He could only imagine that most of them would have been rudely awakened from terrifying nightmares or uncomfortable dreams. Then Shavan's update came through, and he found himself feeling relief that the science officer had reached the bridge unharmed. It was also really good for their chess game to know that there was someone in the brain of the ship. He listened to the exchange between he and Baker, all the while trying to think of a way they could disperse the psionic energy, even temporarily. =/\= "That should work, in theory," he said to both of them as he returned to the console and began pulling up the extensive medical database. He continued, musing aloud, "Everyone's physical bodies are still here, so even though something powerful has a hold of their minds, that doesn't mean they can't mentally be impacted by physiological stimulus. A high dosage of calanite, the neuro-stimulant, maybe?" =/\= He looked to Chief Baker to see what she thought. Then, wheels still turning, he spoke up again, this time directly to his science counterpart on the bridge. =/\= "Would a resonance burst help?" =/\= [Bridge] As he continued to analyze the readings on the computer screen Shavan twitched his antennae impatiently, frustrated that he was not yet seeing anything indicative of the source of the psionic energy. It had to be coming from some sort of powerful telepathic being, regardless of whether that being was actually on the ship or not. Still, both the medical officers quickly came up with valuable ideas on how to deal with it. Synthesizing a drug to combat its effects on the crew would help others wake themselves up, like Shavan and the two medical officers had. But they also needed a more direct attack; as Thea said, releasing something that would actually disperse the energy… like a resonance burst. At the suggestion Shavan narrowed his eyes in concentration, typing more quickly to analyze what the outcome of that would be, and how to do it. =/\= All of that could work. I can set off a resonance burst to disperse the energy while you work on the suppressant. =/\= Shavan suggested, already running for the door. It couldn’t be done from the bridge, but maybe he could use the warp core’s energy to power the burst. While he was doing that it would make sense for them to continue the work in sickbay; it was always best to come up with more than one plan in case something went wrong. Tag Thea Baker Felicity Ellis

[Sickbay - Deck 7] The news that 42 people were awake was the best thing that Thea had heard, ever since waking up and discovering that Kellen and Shavan had also escaped from the sheer terror of their forced nightmares. Given what they knew so far, that was the conclusion that the CMO was coming too, which only led to more questions as to why they had been targeted and for what purpose. Still that was something to work through after everyone was awake and free, as Kellen offered to open a channel, agreeing that hearing her voice would go a long way to boost morale. " I'm happy to hear that we're not the only ones and good idea, hearing a familiar voice would definitely help".As the conversation turned to Thea's suggestion of using a telepathic suppressant to combat the psionic energy blocking the crew from being able to wake up, Thea was sure that they were on the right path, especially when Kellen suggested the neuro stimulant Calanite. Then came another crucial idea in regards to their plan by combining the stimulant with the use of a resonance burst. Thea was confident that this would work and as Shavan agreed, before telling them that he could set off the resonance burst whilst they worked on the suppressant, Thea smiled and addressed both men. =/\= Okay gentleman, we have a plan, we'll work on administering the Calanite whilst Shavan sets off the resonance burst ... Shavan still maintain our comm link, then we can monitor the effects of both once they've been activated, also Kellen informed me that we have 42 others awake, I'll put out a message to them =/\= Opening another channel, Thea put out the call to those who were awake. =/\= Attention to those who can hear this, I know you might have a lot of questions and are wondering what happened but rest assured that myself, Petty Officer Gates and Ensign Th'zhaar are working on a way to resolve this ... in the meantime if you can all make your way to Deck 7 so we can keep everyone together, Baker out =/\= With that done, Thea looked towards Kellen, " Okay let's get to work with the Calanite and then we can introduce it into the environmental systems".Of course it crossed her mind that Isaiah could be one of the 42 but until she saw him with her own eyes, she had to keep working and ensure whoever was responsible lost their hold on the crew, as she moved over to the medicine storage room and waited for Kellen to join her.

The StrangerLimited beings, came the voice, addressing the pair that had denied it. I see all, I go everywhere. You will complete my test.Their surroundings began to shift. Walls shimmered and faded, sterile stone replaced by lush, dark-green flashes. Soon the maze materialised. In the distance, they might hear other voices raised in screams, shouts, questions. Familiar voices of their crew, all stuck in the four corners of the overgrown trap. [Deck 5 - Elijah's Quarters] [Maze] Elijah’s brows drew together and Kaya’s words but he heeded them. It felt like this place was her’s, like he was intruding on a space that she’d found first but still belonged to no one. He watched the shadow figure, waiting for something to happen. He’d forgotten for a brief second that he was bleeding and that the wound hurt. He pressed his hand to it again with a grimace. He thought to answer her but then the creature was speaking, or at least Elijah assumed it was. Test? What test? What was happening? When the walls faded to reveal a maze, Elijah’s senses came back as much as they could in the unconscious. He remembered who he was, his wits returned and his face resumed composure. Something was toying with them. Something had used his fears, played with him, pushed and prodded to see what he’d do. He clenched a fist in anger, clutching his side. “ Why are you doing this?” He asked. “ What do you want? [ Kaya Som | Maze ]Kaya turned around to face Elijah, putting her back to the Stranger. She looked suddenly somewhat excited. "You're you, aren't you? You're actually Azaria and you think you're dreaming. I don't think we're dreaming. But also not awake." She grimaced and raked her hands through her hair. It was hard to figure out how to explain a feeling. "Didn't you ever hear Khami Tu Khesta? It's..." she clicked her tongue, thinking, "Trill novel where this fungus ... I'm not saying that's fungus ... creates a shared unconsciousness in order feed on the bodies of ... nah, I don't want to spoil it for you. In case you read it ..." She trailed off. Then suddenly, Kaya thought she saw someone move around a corner past Elijah. "Hey!" Tag Elijah Azaria Felicity Ellis

[Dream – Maze]
The teenager heard Felicity instructions to stop moving and he did so accordingly. He stop and heard her message that this thing was not going to give his Mother back. For a second his heart stopped and though of what she said. It took a second for him to realize this did not make sense and there might not be a way to be reunited with his mother. “I miss her. I can’t believe I was mean to her.” . The Teenager said.
A small tear would start coming from his cheek. As he tried hard to fight back against the realization that she might be gone and that this was not a simple situation of a holonovel that we solve the puzzles and we get a happy ending. The teenager listened as they talked about enlistment.
The kid would walk next to Felicity and Sir Doug and then said “I might not be strong, or smart. But I do know that standing with other people is closer to light than a test by yourself. You should treat people with kindness, because you don’t know when you will not see them again”. The teenager finished as he was still holding back the tears.

The whole place had an air of abandonment. But Shavan was able to find his way to the bridge with no trouble, as the ship’s systems all seemed to be functioning normally. He kept his guard up but encountered nothing other than another sleeping crew member slumped over on the floor of a corridor on Deck 1. The doors to the bridge parted, revealing a couple more members of the night shift asleep at their stations. Outside the windows, there was nothing but the void of space. Everything was quiet until the ship wide alert sounded, seeming louder than usual in the emptiness. =/\= I’ve reached the bridge. It’s the same situation as in the mess hall. =/\= he reported as Thea had told him to maintain communication. Shavan quickly walked to an unoccupied console and started running scans. =/\= Sensors have detected no intruders on board. =/\= It was the obvious first thing to check, but the results weren’t too surprising given the nature of what they were dealing with. It would likely be better to search for any unusual energy readings rather than focus on corporeal lifesigns. And.. there was something. =/\= I’m picking up traces of psionic energy throughout the ship. If we can find a way to disperse it, maybe that would disrupt whatever’s preventing the crew from waking up. =/\=

Tags: Thea Baker and Shavan Th'zhaar [Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Nightmare]Doug chose, he thought very wisely, to remain quiet now. Captain Ellis probably had her reasons for playing this as she did, and as he collected his things, Doug processed and realized that she was probably making the right play. These powerful beings usually liked to toy with lesser ones, such as themselves. They liked to make their inferiors dance to their strings, do a little jig, stand on their heads, whatever it was. Depriving them of that could be a path to freedom, or death, but it was a less likely path to continued captivity; one typically threw out a broken toy, not a satisfactory one. If they were narrow beings then this would have been away for a higher being to try and control them. [ MCPO Ozu Saya - Shared Nightmare] That is a fair point, Saya said as she turned the knob and pushed the door away from her. However, a sample of two does not a pattern make. Perhaps others have had happier dreams. The door swung wide and there was a confusing glimpse of walls and flashes, then the view settled into a straight path hemmed on either side and overhead by plant life. Well, Saya said with a raised brow. This is unexpected.
There are others...somewhere, she added tilting her head and trying to hear the distant voices better. As with most of her Vulcan physiology, her hearing was better than a Bajoran's but not as good as a Vulcan's. About the only thing she'd inherited in full measure from her Vulcan side was the Pon Farr. I suppose if we are to follow the prompts, we should see where this leads. [Lt. (j.g.) Isaiah Quinn - Shared Nightmare] Isaiah nodded, agreeing with Saya's logic. Just because the two of them had similar experiences didn't mean the others had as well. Mathematically, speaking, if you only had two points, you had no way of knowing the proper way to connect them. A straight line... a curve... or perhaps there is no defined value between them at all. And that lack of knowledge seemed to suggest that they needed to find the rest of the crew mates. And that wasn't going to be done from where they were. As Saya opened the door, Isaiah's eyes watched as what once appeared to be walls, seemed to give way to a series of flashes that instead left them with a grove of sort. A lush wall of plants, intertwined even overhead. The Vulcan-Bajoran seemed to think this was unexpected. "Yeah? Remind me suggest a few horror films when we get out of this," Isaiah responded. It was certainly an optimistic notion, but he wasn't planning to endure his final moments in some weird dream. As Saya said before, they needed to see to the well being of the rest of the crew. He needed to make sure that Thea was all right. Saya also made the observation that they weren't alone. He attempted to listen, and could only hear what sounded like distant voices. Nothing he could really discern. "It could be the others," he hypothesized. Of course, it could be something to lure them deeper into mortal peril. "Agreed. Let's get moving then." He took the first steps forward, moving quickly, but cautiously as he tried to navigate the maze, moving closer to the voices, though yielding to Saya's guidance as her hearing was certainly better than his own.
Tag: Ozu Saya and Felicity Ellis (The Stranger) [ MCPO Ozu Saya - Shared Dream - Maze] Saya lifted one eyebrow and said quietly, Indeed, before following the other officer down the path. She tried to guide by the sound of the voices she heard, but Saya soon realized that there were voices coming from more than one direction. Also, being a maze, it wasn't possible to trace a straight line from their location to any of the voices. After hitting several dead-ends, Saya stopped at a crossroads and folded her arms. I cannot hear the voices well enough to use that to guide us. And this appears to be a traditional maze, which means it's actually rather foolish to attempt to follow the voices. She tapped her foot for a minute. I cannot claim any great skill with solving mazes, but is there not some strategy of always taking either right or left turns? It would take longer, possibly, but then we are less likely to simply wander and become lost.

[Bridge] As he continued to analyze the readings on the computer screen Shavan twitched his antennae impatiently, frustrated that he was not yet seeing anything indicative of the source of the psionic energy. It had to be coming from some sort of powerful telepathic being, regardless of whether that being was actually on the ship or not. Still, both the medical officers quickly came up with valuable ideas on how to deal with it. While he was doing that it would make sense for them to continue the work in sickbay; it was always best to come up with more than one plan in case something went wrong. [Petty Officer Kellen Gates - Sickbay]"Yes, ma'am!" He responded to the Chief, her authoritative attitude and clear commands giving him a little more confidence in their plan. It was a barely-hatched scheme, but it made sense, and he didn't think they could come up with a better first move if they'd had an hour, and not minutes, to prepare. After she made the announcement to the awake crew, he followed Baker into the storage room, his eyes scanning over their supplies. "The environmental controls are on Deck 10, Commander, if memory serves. Right next to Engineering." It would seem they were about to split up even further. Horror movie no-no. "I volunteer to take the calanite down," Kellen Gates said, feeling simultaneously both terrified and brave. "The 42 scared and confused crewmembers would much rather see you than me." He grinned sheepishly while he waited with arms open, ready to receive however many vials she thought they'd need. ~~~ [En Route to Environmental Control, Deck 10]Seven minutes later...=/\= "Chief, Ensign, I'm on Deck 10. I'll let you know when I'm in position." =/\= Having the open commlink with the rest of his team certainly helped calm his nerves. He'd encountered only two other wandering souls during the short trip, the second of which was coming right toward him, looking very unsteady on her feet."H-hello? Are you real?" The young woman, bleeding profusely from a spot beyond her hairline, fell atop Kellen and then reached up to squeeze his cheek. He moved immediately to try and support her. "Yes, I am real. You were trapped in a dream, but you're awake now." I hope. "Here, I'm a medic, let me see...?"
Bleary-eyed and confused, she nonetheless allowed him to do a quick, precursory examination. She was definitely concussed, probably from falling from her bunk. He gave her what he hoped was a reassuring smile, though in reality it was probably closer to a tight grimace. "You'll be absolutely fine. You'll find all of your friends on Deck 7, where Dr. Baker is. Go there, to Sickbay, and she'll look after you." He wished he could accompany her, in fact it felt all kinds of wrong just to leave her wandering by herself with a head wound, but he needed to finish his job. "I'll be there in a minute myself, I'll be right behind you." He redirected the young woman and nodded encouragingly, then he waved.
Once she'd staggered off toward the turbolift, he resumed his quick pace. =/\= "Chief I've just sent a young female officer with a suspected concussion your way. Please keep an eye out for her." =/\=
He was still worrying by the time he reached the control panel he needed. Kellen Gates was no engineer, but he wasn't completely useless in that field, either. Mechanics and anatomy had their similarities; and often times many things, organic or no, had intricate, moving parts that he liked to understand. =/\= "Team, I am in position. Deploying calanite... now." =/\=

The StrangerSomething is wrong. The walls of the illusion shimmered again, changing from the lush maze, to blank, white walls, and back again. The tendrils of dark, empty shadow that comprised the physical manifestation of its being reached out to the dreamers in every corner of its playground. You will take the test, the voice warned, dripping with malevolence once again. It addressed the dreamer who had been trapped in a past with his sire, the dreamer who had questioned herself, the dreamer who ran from vicious beasts and the one who ran from a bogeyman, the dreamer who had let go of his present self and chosen to live only in his past, the near-naked dreamer, the dreamer who drowned in her guilt and the one who desired only cheese. To each of them, it reached, all at once. I will not lose my subjects. One by one, others were torn from its influence. It roared.

[ MCPO Ozu Saya - Shared Dream - Maze] Saya lifted one eyebrow and said quietly, Indeed, before following the other officer down the path. The StrangerSomething is wrong. The walls of the illusion shimmered again, changing from the lush maze, to blank, white walls, and back again. Isaiah Quinn - Shared Dream - Maze] Isaiah followed Saya, yet after several attempts they found that they had met no real progress, each time coming to dead ends which forced them back. During this last attempt, they found themselves back at a crossroads, as Saya began to verbally strategize. She confessed that she had no real skill with solving mazes and inquired he assumed if he was aware of any strategies. Isaiah took a deep breath as he concluded of a single strategy. "As you said, we shouldn't follow the voices, but perhaps we follow the maze."He reached out to touch a single side of maze's floral wall. "If we follow this single wall, it should lead us to one of the openings," Isaiah stated. "As you said... we have no other vantage of the maze than being in it. If it has an actual entrance and exit, concentrating on this single wall should bring us to either one of them." He conceded that it could take more time, but he couldn't think of a more efficient means of exiting this maze. He then began to move along the maze, his hand trailing along the floral wall as they began to advance through the maze, there was an instance when Isaiah felt his hand actually pass through the wall. Only to be replaced by a wall and then the original greenery that had been there before. "Did you see that?" Isaiah asked, removing his hand from the wall altogether. "Don't touch anything," he cautioned Saya as he continued to watch. He then heard something. A voice... making an insistent decree... or plea for them to submit to some sort of test. Isaiah simply stood firm, though his eyes were on Saya, not wanting to lose sight of his fellow crewman.

Doug realized that this wasn't a standard cult-leader sort of malignant being. This was a "scientist", but one without ethical standards. "Let me tell you something, as a real scientist," the El-Aurian offered, putting on a stoic display. "It's usually a good idea to make sure your test subjects sign all the disclosure and liability forms. I had to fake my death once over that; it wasn't fun."Just as soon as he finished speaking, Doug felt a certain heaviness in his eyelids, like he was about to fall asleep. He resisted it, but he wasn't certain if he should.

[En Route to Environmental Control, Deck 10] Seven minutes later...
=/\= "Chief, Ensign, I'm on Deck 10. I'll let you know when I'm in position." =/\= Having the open commlink with the rest of his team certainly helped calm his nerves. He'd encountered only two other wandering souls during the short trip, the second of which was coming right toward him, looking very unsteady on her feet.
"H-hello? Are you real?"
The young woman, bleeding profusely from a spot beyond her hairline, fell atop Kellen and then reached up to squeeze his cheek.
Deploying calanite... now." =/\= [Warp Core, Deck 10] Shavan quickly made his way to the warp core, which had the requisite energy to power the resonance burst. He walked over to a console and got to work making the necessary configurations to the magnetic constrictors to emit the burst. Narrowing his eyes in concentration, he focused on the task, the voices on the comms faded into the background. Shavan knew his way around a starship’s systems, but one miscalculation could end in disaster. So he worked carefully, pausing only to acknowledge that Gates had released the calamite into the nearby environmental controls. A few minutes later, it was ready, all the calculations were in order. If this worked, the energy of the burst should eliminate the energy from the telepathic being, breaking its control of the ship. Shavan took a breath. =/\= I’ve configured the warp core to release a resonance burst. Initiating now. =/\= Tag Felicity Ellis & Thea Baker

[Sickbay - Deck 7] After Kellen had left for Environmental Control, Thea stood in the middle of Sickbay, confident in the Petty Officer's ability that the Calanite would soon be deployed along with the resonance burst that Shavan would provide. The CMO had also appreciated Kellen's offer to be the one to administer the Calanite, knowing that it had meant them splitting up further as well as his compliment about why she should be the one to stay. Thea enjoyed working with Kellen and this was further proof of how valuable he was to her department as the first few people began to trickle into Sickbay following his departure with the handful of vials and her ship wide call. Reassuring them whilst keeping her own nerves and apprehension at bay, before she received the first call from Kellen through the comm link that had been set up between the three of them. =/\= Acknowledged =/\= With Kellen on Deck 10, it wouldn't be too long until he reached his destination and Thea waited whilst more people arrived, answering their questions, before Kellen alerted her about the young officer with a suspected concussion and asked her to look out for her. =/\= Understood Kellen, I'll look out for her =/\=Minutes seemed to speed up then slow down until the woman that Kellen had told her about, appeared at the doorway and Thea was quick to go over and help her. Guiding her towards an available bio bed, where she began scans and treatment as Kellen then spoke again over the link. This was it, their chance to bring others back to reality and now it became a waiting game as Shavan also confirmed that he was initiating the resonance burst. =/\= Great work both of you, now we wait to see what happens with them both ... if you want to make your way back here =/\=

[Dream – Maze] The teenager heard Felicity instructions to stop moving and he did so accordingly. [the dream-maze] Alex wasn’t quite sure why he would want to take the test unknowing if it would go horribly wrong. However he knew for sure that it he wouldn’t have offered himself up for enlightenment even if there was a catch. He knew that there wasn’t a way to reverse the embarrassing moment that he had. If they were narrow beings then this would have been away for a higher being to try and control them. They were able to choose their own path but it might seem like they were going to be walking blindly into the unknown. It wouldn’t have been a good idea to take a test alone but they were definitely going to be stronger together. Although maybe it wasn’t a good idea to have any sort of probe enlightenment shoved up his butt. Subjects? Doug realized that this wasn't a standard cult-leader sort of malignant being. This was a "scientist", but one without ethical standards. "Let me tell you something, as a real scientist," the El-Aurian offered, putting on a stoic display. "It's usually a good idea to make sure your test subjects sign all the disclosure and liability forms. I had to fake my death once over that; it wasn't fun."Just as soon as he finished speaking, Doug felt a certain heaviness in his eyelids, like he was about to fall asleep. He resisted it, but he wasn't certain if he should. [Felicity Ellis - The Dream, Maze]As the young Thomas Jett and the decidedly older Sir Doug stood together against whatever this being was, Felicity felt a surge of pride. She also took strength from their united front, something her crew and people seemed to have in abundance. Even in the face of something so powerful as to trap them all in an unending dreamscape of its manipulation, they were defiant, they would hold steadfastly to their ideals. As the being roared, she thought perhaps not entirely in response to their opposition, she too began to feel weary. Her eyelids felt heavy, her shoulders sagged. She clenched her jaw in response, trying to hold on. "Something's happening..." she murmured, right before she disappeared from the maze. [The floor, Felicity's Quarters]She sat bolt upright immediately. Wide-awake at that split second, she tried to steady her breathing as she surveyed the damage around her from the spot on the floor where she'd fallen. She blinked at the spilled whiskey tumbler... "First thing's first," she wheezed out, though her voice cleared and strengthened with the next words. "Computer, Intruder Alert."Felicity scrambled to her feet, vaguely aware of how soaked her uniform was, and how her damp hair was plastered to her skin. =/\= "Ellis to all hands. I am en route to the Bridge. If you can hear me, please respond." =/\= *** The StrangerThey were being stolen; its dreamers, its subjects. What had begun as a trickle quickly turned into a deluge. You have no understanding of this existence and what it can offer, it said to the dreamer who had challenged the method, a slight scoff to his superior, rasping tone. You will die in the same darkness that you live in.They were all without. Limited, unsuitable, adding nothing of value. There was only one who had shown any promise. It shifted focus to her, the new lack of interest causing the current illusion to degrade further. Then it felt the blast. An attack that was borne from the innards of their vessel, and spreading outwards, gaining speed like a wave with no shore in sight. The strange being had no choice but to ride the resonance surf away. Shadows separated and slid, tendrils of smoke began to die in the air as the vestiges of The Stranger's presence waned.

[Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Guest Quarters]
Doug woke up in his bed, or rather one side of it. The middle two-thirds were occupied by PooDoo, her little form sprawled out in the most ridiculous way possible. He woke up in a dirty suit, with glasses still on him.
He remembered how this had happened. Such was the El-Aurian charm, sometimes. Not wanting to overstep, he opted not to rock up to the Bridge or the science labs until and unless he was to be invited. For now, he could have some proper cheese, maybe a wheel of Terran camembert.
Yes, Camembert. Doug had a wheel, and he chowed down on it.
