[Promenade, Deck 9, Front Ear Station] T'Karra easily slipped into passive observation as Judy took over. The older woman had a far more extensive knowledge of the station, having occupied it since its last change of command. She listened quietly, taking in information on a deck she had never visited and only chiming in when asking the trio if they wanted sustenance. Though not hungry herself, she knew many species had a tendency to graze throughout the day. "Would anyone like food from the replimant before we continue to the next level?" [Front Ear, Deck 9, Promenade] Jovireh smiled as Judy listed off the languages they were each knowledgeable in. Since the commonality of the Universal Translator, it was becoming harder and harder to find others who were multilingual. It was quite refreshing getting a chance to talk to someone who viewed languages as more than just an outdated means of communication. Her smile broadened into a grin when she picked up Max's tone of voice. Something told her she would enjoy hearing those stories sometime. "Klingons do respect you a lot more when you yell at them in their own language." Her own experience didn't branch further than working security in the promenade on Starbase 173, but being fluent in Klingon had definitely made her job a lot easier at times. Judy began pointing out and describing the businesses they passed. Delirium sounded like a place she might visit on a night off. Take Me Gagh, however... Not so much. She learned that language as a tactical decision, not out of appreciation for the culture. Klingon food was repulsive and Jovireh would never voluntarily subject herself to such torture. Of course... She knew better than to ever tell a Klingon that. If she ever needed proof that T'Karra was not reading her mind, it came when the Vulcan asked if any of them would like to stop and eat. For a moment Jov just stared at her, trying to ignore the lurching in her stomach, before she realized that the woman was referring to the replimat, not the restaurant they had just passed. Clearing her throat she glanced over at the humans. "I could eat, but I don't particularly need to at the moment, so I'll leave that up to the rest of you."

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Max Williams - Deck 9]After the young women had both spoken, Judy and Max exchanged a quick look, non-verbally coordinating between themselves. As a couple, they liked to always stay on the same page, to present a sort of united front to the world. And in this case, they weren't hungry. "We had a heavy breakfast, so we're not hungry at the moment, but we can stop if you'd like," Judy answered for the both of them. In a spontaneous movement, Max released Judy's hand and instead wrapped his arm around her waist. She spontaneously reciprocated the affectionate move.

[Turbolift, Deck 9, Front Ear Station] "That will not be necessary," T'Karra replied, heading for the lift. She refrained from staring at the couple displaying affection so publicly. Old habits were hard to break. Instead, she chose to look away at Crewman Velal. "I recommend copying the station's schematics displayed within the turbolift for reference if you have not already. It may prove useful in your future... explorations." Jovireh Velal Judith Eastman

[Front Ear - Turbolift] Well that was a relief. Jov wasn't sure she'd have been able to eat anything so soon after thinking about squirming gagh. Stepping into the turbolift, she nodded and pulled out her PADD when T'Karra recommended she copy the information. It certainly would make her life a lot easier, especially when she was on duty. The couple's mild display of affection didn't bother her. They were off duty, after all, and her parents had always been open with their affection for each other so she was used to seeing it. Her attention focused on the schematics lists in front of her, making quick notes that she felt might help her make sense of things when she was in a hurry. "Where are we headed to next?" She asked as she typed, moreso to show that she was still paying attention than actually needing to know.

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Max Williams - Turbolift -> Deck 8M]"The deck 8 mezzanine," Judy answered, half to her young companion, half to the turbolift itself. "The mezzanines are, if you ask me, probably the best architectural element of the station. You get extra seating space, a more spacious feel on the deck below, and the best part is that you, working in security, get a nice, broad field of view when you patrol from there," she explained as the lift came to the Mezzanine. "We like to sit with our grandchildren when we go out for ice cream, and watch the people below," Max added, with a tone that conveyed his love for his grandkids. The mezzanine itself, which wrapped around Deck 8 was mostly occupied by seating space, although a few businesses had their store-fronts (or secondary entries) along it.

[Deck 8M, Front Ear Station] "Furthermore," T'Karra added, stepping off the lift, "the Blue Beta Bar and Grill resides on this deck. In my experience, it appears to be one of the more well renowned eating establishments on the station. Their selection is quite diverse." She advanced a few more steps, taking a look at the aforementioned view. The mezzanine certainly was extensive. Jovireh Velal Judith Eastman

[Front Ear, Deck 8M] Stepping out of the turbolift, Jovireh paused to take in the sights around them. "I can see why..." She replied to Max's comment about spending time with their grandkids there. She could only imagine how much fun she would have had as a child, sitting up there and people-watching, making up stories in her head about the various patrons below. She wandered over to the rail, nodding in confirmation of Judy's statement about the view. One could see everything from up here. No quick routes down below in an emergency... But if one is good at their job, they could spot a problem arising and get down there before it became an emergency. Usually. Stepping back to rejoin the others, she looked to where T'Karra was indicating. The Blue Beta definitely looked to be a far more respectable establishment than the Spotty Alibi. Their floors didn't even look sticky. "I'll have to stop by there soon," she commented in agreement.

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Max Williams - Deck 8M]"I actually work as a chef at the Blue Beta," Max said, proud of the establishment that employed him. "A lot of our businesses, like the Blue Beta, are very friendly and helpful to the fleet. We listen to our needs and do our best to make sure they're met, they lend us a hand when we need them to, and everyone wins. You'll get to know them all if you work enough shifts on the Promenade," Judy added. Max resisted the urge to tease his wife about her bias towards his establishment, not wanting to make it awkward for their companions. "Have you had the chance to work a shift on the Promenade, T'Karra?" the XO asked.

[Deck 8M, Front Ear Station] Her head canted slightly to the side as she considered the question. Most of her 10 to 14 hour shifts had been spent patrolling empty docking facilities and walking shuttle craft on dark landing pads from end to end. The work was usually quiet, a perfect time for self reflection when manning was short and she patrolled alone. The promenade would likely be more... crowded. "I have not, though I am not opposed to the notion. My postings have been confined primarily to the lower body decks," she finally answered. T'Karra glanced over at Crewman Velal and asked another question of her own, "Do you have a preference for your postings?" Jovireh Velal Judith Eastman

[Front Ear, Deck 8M] Hearing Max proudly claim to be a chef at the Blue Beta, Jovireh gave him a teasing grin. "I'll be sure to remember that if I ever don't like the food there," She was getting more comfortable with the human couple, accepting that they were genuine in their lack of formality while off-duty. As T'Karra explained her shifts on the lower decks, Jov nodded in understanding. She'd worked plenty of shifts like that on 173. Sometimes she had enjoyed them, other times she felt like she was losing her mind. When the other Crewman asked about her preferences, she gave a small shrug. "I enjoyed working the Promenade while I was on Starbase 173. However I'm not in a hurry to work it again."

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Max Williams - Deck 8M]Max chuckled at the little jab, clearly amused. It was nice to have interactions not so overshadowed by his wife's rank. "Everyone's a food critic," he replied, with a similar joking tone. Picking up on her husband's happiness, Judy gave his waist a little squeeze. "Promenade duty must get exhausting, keeping an eye on so much for hours at a time. I don't think I could do it, even if I wasn't so old," she said, leading Max to shake his head. "Don't let Judy fool you. She complains like she's on her deathbed, but she's in great shape," he advised their young companions.

[Deck 8M, Front Ear Station] T'Karra took a moment to parse through the idioms with moderate success and her thoughts returned to the group's initial meeting on Deck 10. "You are correct, Mr. Williams. The medical staff would not have allowed her to leave sick bay if she were in danger of dying in the near future. Though it is unlikely that she retains the appropriate qualifications to bear arms in a routine security capacity." How ever the Commander's health related to her physical outline remained a mystery for the moment. Jovireh Velal Judith Eastman

[Front Ear, Deck 8M] She was grateful when Max went along with her teasing, and gave him a reassuring glance. "If it's frequented by humans, I'm certain I won't have a problem eating there." That was one thing she learned while she was at the Academy... humans weren't often adventurous when it came to their meals. While there were a few willing to try more "exotic" cuisine, like Klingon or Ferengi, most preferred to stick with food that was close to their own. Jovireh was a bit more willing to explore than that, but it was a simple guide for deciding where to eat - Which place had the most human patrons? As Judy commented on the difficulty of working the Promenade, followed by jokes about her age, the Crewman shook her head with a smile. "It was rather overwhelming at first, but you soon learn to adjust your vision for a broader view, rather than focusing on everything individually. Then it's easy for differences - like a raised voice or aggressive gesture - to catch your attention, rather than trying to examine every interaction you pass." Having a partner at all times helped as well, being able to view twice the space. Over time one learned the patterns - which businesses attracted the problematic patrons, which bar had a problem cutting people off, and recognizing the 'frequent fliers' that caused problems every time they were on the station all made it easier to know which parts of the promenade to pay the most attention to.

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Max Williams - Deck 8M, Promenade]The older couple were both a little amused by T'Karra taking the hyperbole literally. They'd seen it from Saya, not so many years ago. "Oh, don't you worry. I leave chasing down criminals to those who are good at it," Judy said, nodding at both security crewmen. To Jov's comment, a thought crossed the older woman's head. "That sounds almost like parenting. You learn what to watch out for," Judy observed. "We have four kids, three of them grown up," Max elaborated, including in the same tally his biological kids and his stepkids (Judy's children from her first marriage).
