[ Commodore Calvin Perry - Bridge] Perry heaved a sigh before replying to the junior lieutenant. Yes, one of the Talorians. Primary L'Sho has agreed to cooperate with our investigation, but I'm concerned about this raising tensions between the crew and the delegation. The commodore paused and eyed the younger man, wondering how he was handling the presence of the Talorians. Before he could ask anything, his call to Argus Major was answered, so he turned his attention to the view screen. Ambassador, Commodore Perry, he said briefly in introduction. We're still en route to Argus Prime, but we've run into a...snag. One of the Talorians was murdered this morning, an assistant of the Primary. We've begun an investigation, and the Talorians have agreed to-Perry was interrupted by a strident beeping and the computer intoning, Intruder alert, intruder alert. What now?Computer, location of intruder? The intruder report originated in the shuttlebay on Deck 7.Is security on the way?A security team has been dispatched.Perry drummed his fingers on the arm of his chair. To go or not to go? He'd wait for a report from security. They probably wouldn't like to have him underfoot in a potentially dangerous situation. Ambassador, things seem to be escalating here. I just wanted to inform you of the situation. As it stands, we'll remain on course and on time. [NPC - Amb. Ehud Herzog - Office, Argus Major]Ambassador Herzog grew slightly red with concern. "Murdered?" he asked, almost refusing to believe it. Then, drama unfolded on the Mac's bridge, and the Ambassador buried his head in his left palm. By God, something was wrong over there - wrong with the Talorians, or wrong with this command, he didn't know. "Commodore, I won't waste your time. I can see you have your hands full right now," Herzog offered, gruff but understanding. He was troubled by these developments, but he wasn't there to get in the way.

[Lt. Isaiah Quinn - Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Mac ] Isaiah had been listening as Thea contributed to the conversation when a most unwelcome sound rang through Sickbay. Standing near the panel, Isaiah quickly quieted the alarm, and proceeded to ascertain exactly what was going on. Having the clearance of a senior officer certainly had its advantages, as he was able to learn that an intruder alert had been raised for this very deck. "Shuttlebay," he said quietly to himself. "Excuse me a moment," Isaiah said as he moved towards the door. As they opened, he found a pair of security officers waiting just outside the door. There was a slight breath of relief that escaped his lips as he nodded at the pair of them. Slipping back into Sickbay, he made his way back towards the others. Precautions had been taken to secure Primary L'Sho's safety. And for once, he was actually near Thea in the midst of a crisis. Of course, if someone made it past two armed guards and into Sickbay, he wasn't certain how much better he'd fare. Though, he knew he'd do everything in his power to see to her safety. He was hopeful that L'Sho wouldn't be too inquisitive, but he wasn't planning to volunteer information that could lead to panic. Right now, the Primary's safety was their priority, despite any he may have held for himself.

[ Relan - Deck 7, Shuttlebay] Kaya's tears and attempts to escape by throwing the scanning device, grabbing hold of their sleeve and trying to hold onto the chair in front was all very amusing to the Mat'am. In fact Kaya Som was proving to be a worthy target and her death would certainly appease his thirst for extinguishing another life, before his attentions turned to the reporter. Even her cracked shout to activate some kind of alert was pitiful as was her lashing out at him, resulting in her cutting her hand on the ceremonial blade. " Now why did you have to go and do that, you pitiful creature" he snarled as struck her once more. " Looks like I'll have to do this quickly, just in case your Bataq friends decide to investigate".Angered by the thought of having to kill her more quickly rather than taking his time, like he wanted. The Killer prepared to strike once and for all as he raised the knife high, with nothing but pure evil in his eyes. As he looked at his prey, offering the ritual chant as was custom by his clan and selecting where to start first. He was interrupted, forcing him to growl in anger as he heard his name being called out and the warning that followed. " This doesn't concern you Derk't, don't you have better things to do, rather than ruin this for me!!" he called back angrily. Fury pulsed through his veins and he struck Kaya with his hand in anger. [ PO1 Kaya Som | Deck 7, shuttlebay ]Relan hit Kaya and she saw stars. Nothing she did seemed to faze him - she just couldn't get an angle to push him off, nothing she could get in hand was a match to that knife. Pieces seemed to slide into place and Kaya could see the corridors of the Mac littered with corpses, viscera all taken. Another Jupiter Star. The second Talorian wasn't going to help her. How did this happen? "Don't do this," she tried, her voice hoarse. "Don't do this, don't do this, don't do this..." she muttered over and over, hands up, blood running down her arm. [Derk't - Shuttlebay, Deck 7]"It concerns all of us, you sroc! Stop your madness!"Derk't took a step closer, now almost completely inside the shuttle. As the woman chanted, the burly Talorian bodyguard heard the wail of the Computer. All time for pretense was over, he had to salvage whatever he could from this nightmare situation. He pulled a concealed blade of his own and pointed it at Relan. *** [Lt. Isaiah Quinn - Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Mac ] As Isaiah waited for the water to replicate, his attention turned towards Primary L'Sho as the man spoke. He seemed a bit different than before. Not as brisk as he had been previously. Perhaps there was something about his performing the Rites of Do'Jame for Kaelpra's spirit or even the absence of his bodyguard, but his behavior was definitely different. More... open. It may have been a coincidence, but Isaiah wasn't so sure. It may have been an unspoken norm that his position forced him to always be a beacon of strength that led to his behavior. As the replication process completed, one of the nurses moved to help Isaiah with the larger canisters of water. With the cannister on an anti-grav lift, it would be easy enough to move the cannister into position and alter the controls of the lift to raise it high enough that the water could be placed in whatever containment was set up. "The replication is complete," Isaiah announced. It may take a moment to modify the containment fields on the biobed to accommodate the rest of the ritual, but we should be able to erect a field that will allow the body to be submerged as the ceremony calls for." There was also the possibility of using the Holodeck, but Isaiah wasn't sure how practical it was to move Kaelpra's body there. Isaiah gestured for the nurse to bring the water closer. Meanwhile, Isaiah turned his attention to the console controls of the biobed. He began making the modification that would be necessary. Though, as he did so, he addressed L'Sho's question. "Some humans practice similar rites," Isaiah announced. "The entire populace doesn't yield to any particular spiritual belief. There are several similarities that the Egyptians on Earth used to practice and to that of your people. Some seek to prepare the spirit for its journey into the afterlife, while others prepare the body to journey to a new life... reincarnation." He continued to work to finalize the modifications to the field around the biobed. [ Thea - Sickbay, Deck 7] As L'Sho thanked both her and Isaiah before considering the offer of any additional help to ensure that the ritual went as smoothly as they could make it. Thea was somewhat surprised by the change in the Primary from her other experiences whilst in his presence. This of course led the CMO to think that maybe he wasn't so bad after all and how this was purely down to a man wanting to do the best he could for his people. She could probably never be able to fully work him out but for the time being, listened as he answered her and asked if it was agreeable for them to remain in Sickbay for the ritual and how he understood that she had to do her due diligence. " Thank you Primary and yes it is agreeable for the Rite to be done in Sickbay" she replied as he then stepped to the side, diverting his gaze from Kaelpra as he explained about Derk't and how they would be able to begin once he returned. Thea nodded in response as Isaiah returned with the canisters of replicated holy water and L'Sho asked if humans performed similar rites. Whilst Isiah informed the Primary of what he had done and how they could accommodate the rest of the ritual, before answering his question. Thea appreciated what he had done and his explanation as she added to the conversation. " Even though there are different beliefs and practices, we also value the life of the one we have lost, so we celebrate their life through sharing stories, remembering the good times as well as eating and drinking".[Lt. Isaiah Quinn - Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Mac ] Isaiah had been listening as Thea contributed to the conversation when a most unwelcome sound rang through Sickbay. [Primary L'Sho - Sickbay]"That will suffice," L'Sho said simply in response to Lieutenant Quinn's suggestions. He would have thanked him again, but he'd already done that twice, and Primary L'Sho did not enjoy repeating himself; more gratitude was superfluous. He remained still while he listened to the pair of humans speak on their own planet's traditions of death. Coming from such a holy place as the East Mountains, L'Sho was perhaps more intrigued by what they did to their dead than their living. "Reincarnation," he repeated, as though trying the word out. "I am told a small sect of my people explored a similar belief system many Millenia ago, before we came to Talor Prime." He offered no further information, though filed the similarity away to consider later, when he was alone. He had just started to wonder what was taking Derk't so long, when the alert sounded loudly. His eyes narrowed as Quinn excused himself from their company. He turned his gaze toward Lieutenant Commander Baker. "What does that noise signify, exactly?"He pulled a handheld device from his pocket and glared at it, watching the dot that was Derk't move around somewhere that was not his quarters.

[ Thea - Sickbay, Deck 7] The interruption caused by the unmistakable sound of an alert, was certainly unexpected before Isaiah turned his attention to the panel and promptly silenced the noise. The Doctor certainly appreciated his quick thinking, especially since they were about to play host to a religious ritual and yet Thea couldn't help but wondered what had triggered the alarm. There could be a number of reasons as to why it sounded and yet given the circumstances, it was only natural to assume that something bad had happened. However until they heard otherwise, Thea had to concentrate on assisting L'Sho and ensuring that the ritual was completed. Although for a moment, when Isaiah excused himself, Thea's attention was on her boyfriend and what he was doing, before he returned and the Primary told them about the sect that had explored a similar belief system to reincarnation. " Interesting, Primary, perhaps you can tell us more about them and Talor Prime before we reach Argus Major" Thea replied, hoping to change the subject and keep the Talorian engaged as they waited for Derk't. It was easier said than done when L'Sho asked about the alert and what it signified. There was a look towards Isaiah as Thea contemplated her answer, then decided to be as honest as possible. " It usually signifies, that there's an intruder on board, but until we find out more, I suggest that we continue as it could be something as simple as a malfunction and security will investigate".Thea hoped that L'Sho would accept her explanation as the Primary then pulled out a handheld device and glared at it. The CMO didn't think too much about it, other than the fact that Derk't hadn't returned and began to wonder if the alert was somehow connected. But for now it was pure speculation.
********************* [ Relan - Shuttlebay, Deck 7] Anger continued to pulse through Relan's and for a moment, he was torn between finishing the kill and getting revenge on Derk't for interrupting him. Of course the thought of L'Sho checking on him had irked Relan greatly unless it was all just Derk't acting of his own accord which did little to improve his current mood. So as Kaya pleaded over and over for him not to do this, he ignored her and began to consider his options. Although he did glare at her when she put her hands up and he saw the blood. " Oh I haven't finished with you" he threatened as the alarm began to wail and Derk't moved closer, threatening him both verbally and physically. " Typical Derk't, it's all about you isn't it and don't give me that drivel about it concerning all of us. I know you want all the glory so come on then, kill me I dare you and then I'll become a martyr for our cause".

So, Lt. Quinn decided to do what he could to further distract the Primary from any potential danger beyond those doors. "Dr. Baker's right," Isaiah said, speaking up. "And there is the matter of the Rites to tend to. If there's any danger, our security team will notify us immediately." Perhaps that would be enough of a comfort, or at least convince L'Sho to proceed with the rest of the Rites.

Whether he planned to shoot the assailant or tackle him was a mystery to her. She kept her weapon trained on the second Telorian, providing her Klingon comrade with security. Kaya clamped her eyes shut against blinding light and pressed her hands over her ears. Things happened quickly. The Talorian spat, unable to understand Relan's warped, twisted logic. How would this moment be all about him, Derk't, when it was Relan who held a knife to the target of no value? It was Relan who seemed a slave to his basest desires! "You are an abomination!" He was yelling now, but nobody would hear him over the awful sensations that were assailing him. His people weren't known for their sharp hearing, but their eyes were sensitive. They could see great distances in the dark, and beneath depths of water, and so Derk't felt as though the flashes of light were stabbing him mercilessly with colour. One set of lids slid over his eyes automatically to protect them from damage, but Derk't needed to remain aware. Voices, thunderous voices, were telling them what to do, and it was almost too late. Derk't resolved in that nanosecond that he would not allow Relan to ruin their plans. The Primary's plans. He loosed the blade in his hand, and he willed it to soar through the air and find its home in Relan's temple. He waited for the sound of the knife slicing into his fellow Talorian. But his vision had been compromised. Would his aim be true?

His disbelief only grew at the insistence that these senior members of the ship's crew continue to pretend that absolutely nothing was wrong. He speared Quinn with a stare and wondered if the man was always so obtuse. "Much like they notified us when one of my people was murdered."Ah, Talorians were capable of sarcasm, it seemed. But he knew they were keeping things from him. His expression was slack when he held up the device he held in his hand. "The Rites cannot proceed until Derk't returns with the oils required. It could be that he has found danger of his own. I must protect my people, even while you refuse to protect yours. Excuse me."Primary L'Sho moved away from the Kaelpra's body and the tight-lipped, tiresome pair, and made for the exit. Thea Baker and Isaiah Quinn

[ Thea - Sickbay, Deck 7] As Isaiah backed her up following her explanation of what could or couldn't of caused the alert. Thea hoped that it would be enough to convince L'Sho to carry on and complete Kaelpra's rites ceremony. However any hope that she did have, crashed and burned when the Primary made not only his disbelief known but also how he had been informed about his Advisor's death. Any thought of proceeding quickly diminished as Thea realised that the Talorian was being sarcastic, before he held up the device and told the pair about how they couldn't do anything without Derk't and the oils. Without those, Thea knew that they were essentially stuck and for a moment didn't know what to do or say. That was until the Primary mentioned how he could be danger and that he had to protect his people, despite the Fleeter's refusal to do the same. Her brain kicked into gear and she had to prevent the Primary from leaving or at the very least come up with something to placate him. " Primary, I understand your concern but I can't let you leave until we know what is going on, so I'll contact the Bridge to get that information and relay your concern about Derk't".To show that she meant it, Thea then tapped her badge, in the hope that this plan would work. =/\= Baker to Bridge, can I get an update on what caused the alert as Primary L'Sho is concerned about his bodyguard Derk't, who hasn't returned from collecting essential oils that are needed to complete the ritual for Kaelpra =/\=
************************ [ Lt Laurel Andrews - Shuttlebay, Deck 7] The plan had gone off without a hitch and as T'Karra and Ma moved forward, Laurel followed close behind to provide back up should they need it. Phaser raised and shaking off the blinking lights caused by the remnants of the stun grenade. Laurel kept going and yet what she then witnessed was not what she had expected at all. It became very clear that two Talorians were having some kind of argument, whilst the smaller of the two, was straddled across an obviously injured and distressed Kaya Som. With her officers raising their weapons at the two Talorians who had been affected by the stun grenade. [Primary L'Sho - Sickbay]L'Sho was genuinely confused, and not in the slightest bit accustomed to ignoring such a massive problem. "An intruder?" His disbelief only grew at the insistence that these senior members of the ship's crew continue to pretend that absolutely nothing was wrong. [ Thea - Sickbay, Deck 7] [...] " Primary, I understand your concern but I can't let you leave until we know what is going on, so I'll contact the Bridge to get that information and relay your concern about Derk't".To show that she meant it, Thea then tapped her badge, in the hope that this plan would work. =/\= Baker to Bridge, can I get an update on what caused the alert as Primary L'Sho is concerned about his bodyguard Derk't, who hasn't returned from collecting essential oils that are needed to complete the ritual for Kaelpra =/\=
************************ [ Lt Laurel Andrews - Shuttlebay, Deck 7] [...] =/\= Andrews to Sickbay we have a medical emergency in the Shuttlebay on Deck 7 =/\= [Lt. Isaiah Quinn - Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Mac ] Quinn knew that L'Sho was right. There wasn't much more that could be done where the ritual was concerned until Derk't returned with those oils. Of course, having him leave was out of the question. Thea attempted to reason with him by contacting the Bridge for an update. Isaiah took a more direct route, inserting himself directly in L'Sho's path. "I'm sorry, Primary, but I can't allow you to leave. While you're aboard this vessel, the safety of your subordinates and yourself is our responsibility. Give us an opportunity to do our job."Isaiah continued to stand his ground, not willing to budge. He took a deep breath, trying to anticipate how much resistance L'Sho would put forth. "Once our Security Chief, Lt. Andrews, or Commodore Perry gives the all clear, I'll be more than happy to stand aside." Isaiah hoped the terms were palatable for the Talorian. It was then that he heard Lt. Andrews voice call for a medical emergency in Sickbay. His eyes glanced over at Thea. Of all the things to expect, that certainly hadn't been one of them.

She watched as the taller one, threw his knife towards his comrade, almost as if it was in slow motion until it landed in his thigh. " T'Karra, Ma get the restraints ready, whilst I call Sickbay". =/\= Andrews to Sickbay we have a medical emergency in the Shuttlebay on Deck 7 =/\= ******************* [ Relan - Shuttlebay, Deck 7] Whatever Derk't was calling him as the brute of a bodyguard became even more agitated. " No you won't do this to me, I'm only following the wishes of the Primary" he yelled as he crashed unknowingly into Ma. [ Lt (JG) Joshua Niles - Bridge - USS Mac ]Being effectively in charge of the ship while sharing the Bridge with someone whose rank was astronomically above his own, while said higher-ranking officer was not explicitly there in a supervisory, monitoring and mentoring capacity for a very junior one such as Niles himself, was a rather novel experience. But, the Commodore had insisted the young Lieutenant retain the watch, so that was precisely what he intended to do. From the secondary Tactical station, Niles was only half-paying attention to the abbreviated conversation with the Ambassador; at least, the man had the good sense to let them do their job, rather than ask piles of questions to which there were no immediate answers. Well, at least so far as the officer of the watch was concerned. He had no idea what Perry may or may not know... From the secondary Tactical station, he found himself monitoring the security situation directly, and finally some of Security's running logs were making their way up to him. A security team had indeed been dispatched and Lieutenant Andrews was on scene responding. Excellent. There was also evidence of a detonation recorded, but it lined up with the order to deploy a distraction device, and the signatures matched. All right, so far so good, and just now, the Bridge communications chirped, with Doctor Baker at the other end, requesting information for the Primary... Bloody diplomatic missions, he found himself thinking rather uncharitably. =A= "Doctor, this is Niles. Information is sketchy at this end, but it would seem there was an altercation in the shuttlebay between two Talorians, and one of our technicians, Petty Officer Som. Security led by Lieutenant Andrews is responding, and while I'm not seeing much, they deployed a distraction device, and since I'm not reading weapons fire at this time, I expect the immediate security situation is resolved, or nearly so. I can advise as soon as Lieutenant Andrews reports it has been contained."=A=

[Primary L'Sho - Sickbay]First they told him there was nothing to worry about, and then that they would trap him in their medical facilities because it was apparently dangerous outside. L'Sho's patience had certainly been challenged these last few days aboard the Mac. He called upon his reserves again, just once more, in order to stop himself from lashing out with angry threats. Their insistence that he stay was not enough to make him stop, the response from the Bridge however, that did it. His body stilled, his expression too, but his eyes were darting here, there, all over the room. =//= "Derk't, respond at once." =//= The Primary looked down at the screen again, where the dot that was Derk't still blinked next to another. "I tire of the secrets on this ship." He took a moment and seemed to be gathering himself, resetting. "Lieutenant Commander Baker, please inform this "Niles" that I expect to be advised on any issues involving my people immediately."

[ Thea - Deck 7, Sickbay] With Isaiah inserting himself to prevent L'Sho from leaving and taking a more direct approach to try and assure the Primary why he needed to stay. Thea hoped that the Bridge would be able to give a decent update that would also appease the Talorian Leader as her boyfriend continued to stand his ground with him. However as she waited, it appeared as though things were happening in the Shuttlebay when a call came through from Chief Andrews informing them of a medical emergency. As Isaiah glanced over at her, she had an inkling as to how he was feeling about this latest development as today had already been filled with unfortunate surprises. Although there wasn't a lot she could say as Niles answered her. Listening to what information the Bridge had seemed to coincide with the medical emergency that she had just received and no doubt she would get more details when she got there. Naturally L'Sho wasn't happy and she wished that things hadn't gotten so complicated so quickly and as he tried to contact Derk't with no response. Thea didn't want to think and could only pray that she didn't have to tell L'Sho that Derk't had been injured or worse. So when he then spoke, she had no problem relaying that message to the Bridge. " Certainly Primary" she replied as she then responded to the Bridge. =/\= Acknowledged Lieutenant, Primary L'Sho also asks that we advise him of any issues involving his people immediately. I've also just received a medical emergency call from Lieutenant Andrews, I'll keep everyone informed once I get to the Shuttlebay and find out what's going on, Baker out =/\= Call made, Thea then began to gather a medkit and a small team to assist her with the emergency before turning to Isaiah and L'Sho. " For now I shall leave you in Lieutenant Quinn's capable hands whilst I attend this emergency".Thea didn't particularly wanted to leave due the current tensions in the room, but she needed to get going, especially if this would give them much needed answers. With a final farewell, Thea then left and headed for the Shuttlebay, informing Andrews as she headed along the corridor.

[ Lt Laurel Andrews - Shuttlebay, Deck 7] [...]With her officers raising their weapons at the two Talorians who had been affected by the stun grenade. She watched as the taller one, threw his knife towards his comrade, almost as if it was in slow motion until it landed in his thigh. Almost blinded by whatever treachery was going on, the Talorian assassin snarled at the failure of not killing Kaya Som, before he heard voices. " No you won't do this to me, I'm only following the wishes of the Primary" he yelled as he crashed unknowingly into Ma. [Shuttlebay, Deck 7, USS Mac] In the span of a heartbeat, the already miniscule chance of resolving the situation peaceably dissipated completely. Derk't's had shown his capacity for murder by letting his blade fly. Regrettable. T'Karra rushed the now empty handed and hopefully still half-blinded aggressor, Derk't, with a pair of restraints. There was no time to second guess what her allies would do, instead she focused her energy on trying to subdue the Talorian in her area of responsibility. She had to trust the Petty Officer to handle his own threat and for the Lieutenant to provide them both with adequate overwatch. "Turn around," yelled the otherwise soft spoken Vulcan as she closed what little distance remained. Inches to her right, Ma fought to hide an expression that was almost downright gleeful. Physical force was nearly always a last resort when it came to Starfleet, so opportunities like this were rare treats. With the half blind Talorian haphazardly charging in his direction and the direction of his superior officer with a weapon in hand, he would have no choice but to throw the man onto the navigator's seat like a limp sack of zilm'kacs. This time, violence really was the solution! "Halt," he said without a trace of sincerity in his voice as his opponent charged. He dropped his stance and fired his phaser. Momentum carried the body the last few feet and Ma allowed him to roll over his shoulder. Relen landed with a thump. Ma wasted no time rolling the Talorian over and handcuffing him, his grin now impossible to hide. He seized the blade Relen had dropped and left the one imbedded in his leg alone. Medical would handle it soon enough.

[ PO1 Kaya Som | Deck 7, Shuttlebay ]The security team swarmed the cockpit with practiced coordination and Kaya was no longer in imminent peril. Dazed as she was, she still managed to half crawl half stumble her way out of the shuttle and into the open space of the shuttlebay where she steadied herself against some cargo. She slid slowly to the ground and worked to steady her breathing. She was shaking from the adrenaline and still seeing stars. Her palm was bleeding badly, and blood all down the arm and down her front. She held her hand tightly to her chest. She had half a mind to get to her feet and head to Sickbay, but her head was a fog.
