[ Lt (JG) Joshua Niles - Bridge - USS Mac ][...] =A= "Doctor, this is Niles. Information is sketchy at this end, but it would seem there was an altercation in the shuttlebay between two Talorians, and one of our technicians, Petty Officer Som. Security led by Lieutenant Andrews is responding, and while I'm not seeing much, they deployed a distraction device, and since I'm not reading weapons fire at this time, I expect the immediate security situation is resolved, or nearly so. I can advise as soon as Lieutenant Andrews reports it has been contained."=A=
[Primary L'Sho - Sickbay][...] =//= "Derk't, respond at once." =//= The Primary looked down at the screen again, where the dot that was Derk't still blinked next to another. "I tire of the secrets on this ship." He took a moment and seemed to be gathering himself, resetting. "Lieutenant Commander Baker, please inform this "Niles" that I expect to be advised on any issues involving my people immediately." [ Thea - Deck 7, Sickbay] [...] " Certainly Primary" she replied as she then responded to the Bridge. =/\= Acknowledged Lieutenant, Primary L'Sho also asks that we advise him of any issues involving his people immediately. I've also just received a medical emergency call from Lieutenant Andrews, I'll keep everyone informed once I get to the Shuttlebay and find out what's going on, Baker out =/\= Call made, Thea then began to gather a medkit and a small team to assist her with the emergency before turning to Isaiah and L'Sho. " For now I shall leave you in Lieutenant Quinn's capable hands whilst I attend this emergency".Thea didn't particularly wanted to leave due the current tensions in the room, but she needed to get going, especially if this would give them much needed answers. With a final farewell, Thea then left and headed for the Shuttlebay, informing Andrews as she headed along the corridor. [Lt. Isaiah Quinn - Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Mac ] Several of the pieces began to come together as Lieutenant Niles reported in from the Bridge, apprising Thea and the others of what was going on. The mention of some sort of altercation involving a pair of Talorians and Petty Officer Som seemed to raise more questions than answers. His concern was that everyone else was okay, but he naturally was especially concerned for his fellow crewman, Kaya. He'd been on a few missions with her, and had proven rather spirited. Still, there was no mention of additional murders, which was definitely a plus. He could only hope that the injuries that had been incurred were minor. As Thea announced that she was needed elsewhere and was leaving L'Sho in his own hands, Isaiah couldn't help but feel that he had gotten the short end of the stick. While the threat was likely neutralized, he was essentially stuck in Sickbay to babysit Primary L'Sho. He nodded after Thea and then turned to face L'Sho once again with a slight sigh. "Well, Primary... looks like it's just the two of us," the science officer remarked. He paused to think how they could possibly pass the time. He doubted that the Primary cared to engage in any additional talk of their culture while he waited to learn about the condition of his people. Perhaps there was some meaningful small talk? "Um... I noticed that several of your people didn't seem to care for the champagne last night," Isaiah stated. "It's because it looks like urine, isn't it?" It was the best he could come up with on such short notice.

Whatever Derk't was calling him as the brute of a bodyguard became even more agitated. Relan didn't hear fully before a strange noise was heard, followed by an awful bright light that made him wince as he attempted to protect himself. Almost blinded by whatever treachery was going on, the Talorian assassin snarled at the failure of not killing Kaya Som, before he heard voices. He had no idea why they were shouting at them to show their hands and there was something else about restraints. However he just wanted to run, to hurt them, before finding a way of this barge of a ship. Easier said than done when he felt the piercing pain of a knife enter his thigh and yet he refused to yell out in agony at the deceit. Instead he decided to make one final rush, not caring if he lived or died or who he struck as he got up and ran towards the person nearest to him. " No you won't do this to me, I'm only following the wishes of the Primary" he yelled as he crashed unknowingly into Ma. [Shuttlebay, Deck 7, USS Mac] In the span of a heartbeat, the already miniscule chance of resolving the situation peaceably dissipated completely. Derk't's had shown his capacity for murder by letting his blade fly. Regrettable. T'Karra rushed the now empty handed and hopefully still half-blinded aggressor, Derk't, with a pair of restraints. There was no time to second guess what her allies would do, instead she focused her energy on trying to subdue the Talorian in her area of responsibility. She had to trust the Petty Officer to handle his own threat and for the Lieutenant to provide them both with adequate overwatch. "Turn around," yelled the otherwise soft spoken Vulcan as she closed what little distance remained. Inches to her right, Ma fought to hide an expression that was almost downright gleeful. Physical force was nearly always a last resort when it came to Starfleet, so opportunities like this were rare treats. With the half blind Talorian haphazardly charging in his direction and the direction of his superior officer with a weapon in hand, he would have no choice but to throw the man onto the navigator's seat like a limp sack of zilm'kacs. This time, violence really was the solution! "Halt," he said without a trace of sincerity in his voice as his opponent charged. He dropped his stance and fired his phaser. Momentum carried the body the last few feet and Ma allowed him to roll over his shoulder. Relen landed with a thump. Ma wasted no time rolling the Talorian over and handcuffing him, his grin now impossible to hide. He seized the blade Relen had dropped and left the one imbedded in his leg alone. Medical would handle it soon enough. [ PO1 Kaya Som | Deck 7, Shuttlebay ]The security team swarmed the cockpit with practiced coordination and Kaya was no longer in imminent peril. Dazed as she was, she still managed to half crawl half stumble her way out of the shuttle and into the open space of the shuttlebay where she steadied herself against some cargo. She slid slowly to the ground and worked to steady her breathing. She was shaking from the adrenaline and still seeing stars. Her palm was bleeding badly, and blood all down the arm and down her front. She held her hand tightly to her chest. She had half a mind to get to her feet and head to Sickbay, but her head was a fog. [Derk't - Shuttlebay, Deck 7]Someone rushed at him. His vision might have been compromised, but his training kicked in immediately, and once the knife had been loosed from his grip his body automatically twisted toward the source of the approach, ready to redirect the weight of the assailant. But then he had a thought. Some sense began to override his warrior instincts and suddenly he relaxed his stance. He blinked constantly, as though that would clear his vision from them after-effects of the flash, and then, a bit belatedly, held up his hands in surrender. As he was restrained, he couldn't help but ask, "Did I get him? Did I get the traitorous sroc!?"When he saw Relan on the floor, still breathing, he let out a grunt of frustration.

[Charlie Fox - Guest Quarters]Charlie emerged from the sonic shower feeling slightly more human, and less emotional. She dressed quickly in her usual uniform of jeans, shirt and leather jacket, and prepared to leave her rooms in search of more information on the murdering that was going down without her. Her skeleton almost jumped out of its fleshy prison when the alarm sounded; intruder, she thought, and when the doors to her room refused to open for her she kicked them viciously. *** [ Thea - Deck 7, Sickbay] [...] " Certainly Primary" she replied as she then responded to the Bridge. =/\= Acknowledged Lieutenant, Primary L'Sho also asks that we advise him of any issues involving his people immediately. Being an aquatic species, he could hold it for a long time, but he had zero faith in any of these people. They seemed devoid of any sort of acuity. And then she left, citing a medical emergency in the shuttlebay where two of his people were. Without telling him the nature of it. And she was walking instead of using their transporter system. If he hadn't been so worried, he might have laughed. He instead turned his disbelieving expression on the Lieutenant Quinn, who for a moment, L'Sho thought might feel just as lost as he. And then, of course, he started talking about urine. "Yes," L'Sho answered his query. Silence. There was a practice on Talor Prime that the youth engaged in, called Tre'ta, Ha Ha!. It involved a series of pranks played upon friends, with the victor declared when their opponent was unable to retaliate within a day-cycle, usually due to serious injury. For a moment L'Sho forgot that the Federation had no such practice, at least none that he was aware of, and had considered briefly that someone was playing Tre'ta, Ha Ha! on him. That would have been so much better than this. "Do you bathe in it, also?"

[ Relan - Shuttlebay, Deck 7] If he could only get away and take down whoever stood in his path, then this wouldn't of been a complete failure for the trained Assassin. Anything would be better than having to punish himself and find some kind of satisfaction, in order to sate the hunger and bloodlust within. Although if he was about to be caught like an animal, then he would do everything he could to bring L'Sho down with him, since he was the one who had hired Relan as was the tradition to do so when you wanted your enemies to be silenced. However despite his actions and intentions to hurt those around him, Relan had miscalculated the effectiveness of the Starfleet crew as the beam struck him and everything went black as he crumpled to the ground, silencing his thoughts and need for revenge. *************************** [ Lt Laurel Andrews - Shuttlebay, Deck 7] As T'Karra and Ma took care of their Talorian guests, the Security Chief knew that the immediate danger was now over and with any luck, they would soon get answers as to why this had happened. One thing did stand out to Laurel and that was Relan's claims that he had been following Relan's orders, before Ma silenced the madman with a stun blast, after T'Karra had began to restrain Derk't. The Talorian Bodyguard, whilst admitting defeat and surrender, didn't seem overly happy that Relan had lived judging by his comments and frustration. But that wasn't her problem until they got them to the Brig for questioning. With Doctor Baker on her way and Kaya escaping the shuttle, it was now up to Laurel to clear the bay and report in to the Bridge. " T'Karra, Ma take these two to the Brig, since this one is out cold, I suggest a site to site transport, I'll be down soon once I've reported in to the Bridge and spoken to Petty Officer Som".Orders given, Laurel then tapped her comm badge as the doors opened to reveal Doctor Baker and her team. =/\= Andrews to Bridge, the Shuttlebay has been secured and we have two Talorian's being taken to the Brig as we speak. The one named Relan claimed that Primary L'Sho had ordered him to attack Petty Officer Som, but I'll know more once he's awake and we question both of them, including the Bodyguard, Derk't =/\= Laurel then moved over and brought Thea up to date on everything that had transpired and what she intended to do. ********************** [ Thea - Shuttlebay, Deck 7] Upon arriving in the Shuttlebay, Thea could tell that Security had dealt with the situation and yet knew that this was only the beginning of the difficult task of resolving everything. Once she had spoken with Laurel, Thea dispatched one of her team to treat Relan in the Brig, before seeking out Kaya who had taken refuge near some cargo. Doctor mode engaged, Thea dropped down to her level, whilst simultaneously scanning her. " Kaya, it's Doctor Baker, everything is going to be okay and once I've stopped the bleeding, we'll be taking you to Sickbay".Taking out the equipment that she needed, Thea then began to treat the immediate injuries and stopped the bleeding.

[ PO1 Kaya Som | Deck 7, Shuttlebay ]Activity in the shuttlebay seemed to flow around her and Kaya was alright being invisible for a few moments. She wondered if Relan would kill himself rather than be taken alive, if Petty Officer Ma had given him the time. There were going to be questions, but Kaya found her thoughts wouldn't line up in a row. Dr. Baker arrived and Kaya produced her hand. "I found the killer," she said dryly. [ Lt (JG) Joshua Niles - Bridge - USS Mac ]Doctor Baker had closed the channel without waiting for an acknowledgement from Niles. But then again, the good Doctor was giving the Lieutenant the impression that he was being trusted to handle what was going on. After all, she did not send someone up to the Bridge to relieve him. But now, he was saddled with the additional worry of having to inform the Primary... who was hardly the Lieutenant's most favourite person in the quadrant; in fact, it was pretty fair to say he had a very serious bone to pick with him... and he simply could not clear the air, between the vast difference in their stations and diplomatic necessities... However, before long Lieutenant Andrews sent her report to the Bridge, and Niles made sure it would be on speaker so Commodore Perry may hear what had transpired down there, and how things were shaking out. =A= "Lieutenant Andrews, Ma'am, this is Lieutenant Niles. [Lt. Isaiah Quinn - Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Mac ] As the response to his question regarding the champagne, Isaiah nodded. He had suspected as much. It was probably something that their diplomats needed to work into their process. Just to be certain that they weren't offending visiting races when they introduced their own delicacies to them. Surely, there was some sort of course on all of this at the Academy. "I'll be sure to pass that along," the science officer commented. He took a deep breath. "I'm curious, and I hope I don't offend you with this question, but, why are you here?" Isaiah asked. "I know these talks are to talk of Talor joining the Federation, but you haven't appeared to be very interested in the hundreds of different cultures that come with that union." No one would ever accuse Isaiah of being a diplomat, but he was a scientist... one with a keen eye for observation. During that time, he had failed to see what L'Sho sought to gain from such a union, because an isolationist mentality wouldn't work very well with a Federation member world. He barely had the opportunity to hear an answer when Lt. Niles began to speak with an update. The contents of that update, however, weren't what Isaiah was expecting to hear. It seemed the Talorians involved were being detained, and apparently Petty Officer Som had sustained some injuries. There was also the implication that the Primary had ordered the assault on Kaya. Isaiah's eyes met the Primary's. It was possible that the words had been spoken were meant to deflect responsibility, but Isaiah wasn't so sure. "Thank you, Lieutenant." His eyes looked across the room at the resting form of Crewman Velal. Isaiah was too cautious to make any movements that could leave her vulnerable to injury, including asking Security to enter Sickbay. "I don't suppose there are many among your people that would choose to slander a man of your station, are there?" Isaiah asked.

Pulling the linking mechanism downward abruptly had a tendency to unbalance most bipedal species. She hoped he would not test the technique’s effectiveness. It was not her place to ask questions regarding the open murder investigation or the obvious assaults, so she inquiring about more general topics. “Are a majority of Talorians naturally inclined to violence or have the Federation’s encounters simply been with the more homicidally inclined of your species?” she asked the back of his head in soft monotone.

Some of the tenseness left his shoulders though, as he levelled a weighing look at Lieutenant Quinn. "I am not interested in cultures beyond my own at this moment in time, Lieutenant, because I fear it is under threat. However, many of my people do not feel the same as I, and a decent leader must understand the desires of his people." L'Sho did not want to be on the Mac, bound for talks that would, in his opinion, hinder rather than help the Talorian system. He supposed he'd made that quite obvious, more so than he'd intended to, but he was there to do a job. And then the report from the Bridge came in, and any quiet, temporary truce that came from the question evaporated. The Primary activated his own communications device, his piercing gaze back on the scientist. His mind worked a mile a minute as the strategist within took over. "There are several on this ship alone," he answered, his tone matter of fact. =//= "Dispatch a security team to ascertain the whereabouts of the Princess Elana immediately, and another to Sickbay. I require escort." =//= The situation was precarious and dangerous, but L'Sho knew it would only be made worse if he lost his icy cool. "Lieutenant, I will need to question the Talorians bound for your brig. Now that the alert is over, I see no reason why you cannot return my freedom to me."

[Derk't - En Route to Brig]"I do not," he responded to the Security crewman who would be his escort to their prisons. He had intended to kill Relan, the traitor. The madman. He would be the ruination of everything, and what was worse is that his babbling would threaten to tear the very fabric of Talorian society. Even with his limited intelligence, Derk't could see it. He walked with back straight and eyes still alert, even as they recovered. He had done the right thing and he carried himself with the certainty of that, but he did not resist. His jaw clenched as the Fleeter continued the unnecessary chatter. The Primary was correct; these Federation people certainly did enjoy the sounds of their own voices. "Are a majority of your people naturally inclined to such superiority, or have our encounters simply been with the most judgmental of your species?"Derk't had no idea what species his guard even was, and nor did he care. He'd say nothing of value until he saw his Primary.

[ Thea - Shuttlebay, Deck 7] Now that the blood had been stopped and her wounds healed with the dermal regenerator. Thea could concentrate on getting Kaya to Sickbay, in order to perform further scans and allow the Petty Officer to recover from her ordeal. It was likely that Thea would recommend no duties for a few days until the Mac returned to Front Ear, as well as regular check-ups to ensure that Kaya dealt with the psychological side of the trauma that she had suffered. Whilst the Doctor didn't know why Relan had singled out Kaya specifically, until they got answers. The revelation from Kaya that she had found the Killer, didn't take Thea long to piece together who she was referring to and of course that led to how Derk't and even L'Sho were involved in all of this. That was something to deal with once Kaya was safe and taken away from the crime scene and with Security taking care of the Talorians. Thea wanted to reassure Kaya as Laurel approached in order to accompany them back to Sickbay. " You did Kaya and he's been taken to the Brig, we're going to Sickbay now and Lieutenant Andrews will want to ask you some questions, once you're feeling up to it".Thea then stood up and let the rest of her team take over by carefully lifting Kaya onto a stretcher then led the way out of the Shuttlebay, with Laurel taking up the rear. [Sickbay - Deck 7] As the small group approached Sickbay, Thea dreaded to think what she would be coming back to after leaving Isaiah with L'Sho especially with the information they now had about Derk't and Relan. Although she had a patient to deal with and perhaps it wouldn't be so bad, so when the doors opened, her boyfriend and the Primary were pretty much where she had left them, as she instructed the orderlies to place Kaya on the next available bio bed. " The good news is that the Petty Officer's injuries weren't to severe, mainly defensive wounds and she'll make a full recovery" Thea said solemnly, before going over to Kaya.

[ PO1 Kaya Som | Sickbay ]It had taken a lot of self-restraint for Kaya to allow herself to be carted about, and even then, she had to be gently-but-firmly asked to lay back down multiple times during the journey from the shuttlebay. Something about laying on her back made her want to claw someone's eyes out. When they did arrive in sickbay, Kaya sat up in the bed and peeled off her blood-stained uniform jacket. She realized then her comm badge was still in the shuttle. "Shit," she mumbled. Of more concern, however, was the presence of Primary L'Sho looking even more pissed off than he had at the reception. Jovireh Velal was out cold in a bed nearby, and across the room a Talorian who looked, well, dead. Kaya frowned. When Dr. Baker came back around, Kaya spoke to her in a quiet voice. "What's he doing here? The Primary." Tag: Thea Baker

[Turbolift to Deck 9, USS Mac] "I do not know if my species is superior to yours by any metric," she replied, curiosity undaunted. They arrived at the empty lift and T’Karra guided him onto the platform as she continued. "I actually know relatively little about Talorians. My limited personal experience with your people includes you, who by your actions displayed the intent to kill, and Relan who also attempted to kill my fellow crewman. When factoring in the murders on the Jupitar Star, the number of deaths during first and second contact appears to be considerably higher than the average deaths reported for similar contact events with other species." The hiss of the turbolift doors as they opened to deck 9 was the only sound apart from her uninterrupted line of reasoning. Long, empty, identical corridors stretched out before them. "That being said, the number of interactions between the Federation and Talorians is, of course, low. I have insufficient data to draw any meaningful conclusions. This is why I asked about a proclivity for homicide rather than making an assumption."

[Primary L'Sho - Sickbay]L'Sho sighed. Now that the alert is over, I see no reason why you cannot return my freedom to me." [ Thea - Sickbay, Deck 7] As the small group approached Sickbay, Thea dreaded to think what she would be coming back to after leaving Isaiah with L'Sho especially with the information they now had about Derk't and Relan. He took the man's words in, about his concern with his own culture, and it seemed that he was more conflicted about it as well as the idea of introducing even more to the Talorian homeworld. "It probably isn't my place to say so, but perhaps now isn't the time to entertain formal relations with the Federation," Isaiah stated. "There is a saying among my people which while it may sound crude is rather apt when initiating any negotiations of formal alliances: get your own house in order." Isaiah stood there for a moment. "This will only ever work if we're all on the same page."L'Sho also shared the fact that there were several people that would sully his name for their own agenda. He then attempted to contact his own people to ascertain the location of Princess Elana and summoned an escort. He then made a point of stating a desire to leave. "You were never a prisoner," Isaiah said. "Though, as I've stated before, your safety and that of your people are our main concern. I would recommend that our own security teams accompany you. I'm not certain that Lt. Andrews has your people settled yet, but I can certainly find out."That was around the time that Thea returned, and made it known that Kaya had sustained relatively minor injuries. There was only a slight nod from the science officer, as he made a mental note to further check-in when the opportunity presented itself. "And then there's the matter of Kaelpra and tended to his Rites. I know a lot has happened today, but I think you would agree that is still a priority, is it not?" Isaiah paused to give L'Sho a moment to consider that as well before tapping his comm badge. =/\= "Quinn to Andrews. I know that there are procedures to follow, but Primary L'Sho would like to be notified when he can speak to his people." =/\=There was certain quite a bit left on L'Sho's plate to deal with. Kaelpra... the quarrel between his people... the implication that he may be involved... couple that with these talks in general as well as Princess Elana. Well, he seemed to be balancing all of this rather well, all things considered. "Lt. Andrews is very thorough. I'm certain she'll make them available to you as soon as possible."

[USS Mac - Sickbay]
There was another sudden shift in the atmosphere of the room around her, sparking her instincts to once more override the sedation. More voices... higher tension... buzzing thoughts... fear and concern... If her brain wasn't so foggy she wouldn't even need to open her eyes to know what was going on. But as it were, the grogginess continued to fight to hold her back, so she carefully pushed herself into a sitting position and looked around the room. Doctor Baker was with a Trill woman whom was sitting on the next biobed, looking even worse than Jovireh had felt upon her own arrival. Lt. Quinn was still talking to L'Sho, whom looked even less pleased than when she had fallen asleep. There was Lt. Andrews... What the hell had happened? She vaguely remembered an intruder alert... had there been another murder? Her heart sank a little at the thought, but she decided to let everyone do their jobs without pestering them with questions. Someone would fill her in when they had the time. It wasn't like she could do anything to help at the moment anyway. Rubbing her hands over her face to try and wake herself up a bit more, she bent her knees and wrapped her arms around them, her gaze focusing on the Primary once more. If he had killed two people on this ship...

[Lt. Isaiah Quinn - Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Mac ] For once, Isaiah found that he appreciated the honesty that L'Sho seemed inclined to share. [Primary L'Sho - Sickbay]"I do not disagree."The Primary said nothing more in response to the Lieutenant Quinn's unsolicited advice about how his "house" should be run. He could not argue with the logic of the sentiment, but there was very little he could do about directing the will of the people when allegiances were as split as his power. The discovery and then rushed coronation of this new Princess had exacerbated an already tricky political situation, but he did not expect anyone who was not a Talorian to know or understand that. He neglected to respond to the assertion that he'd never been a prisoner. He blinked, as he stared, that sensation of disbelief returning. His freedom of movement had been physically blocked by the other male and he had not been permitted to leave the Sickbay. He was fairly sure that had he tried, Security would have been summoned. But considering the current state of affairs, L'Sho deduced that further discussion would only delay him. And he had much more important business to attend to than dealing with the Lieutenant Commander Baker's rude snub or the Lieutenant Quinn's facile attempts at manipulation. "I will decide what is a priority, thank you. Excuse me."He left Kaelpra behind and spared a glance for the injured crewman before exiting Sickbay proper, intent on getting to the bottom of whatever mess his people had created.

[Derk't - En Route to Brig]"You certainly speak as though you do," the prisoner pointed out, already feeling extremely irritated, and that was before the guard levied the unfounded accusation of mass murder against his people. He ignored that. He did not have enough information to get involved in a debate, and the Primary always said that if he was not sure what to say, then he should not speak. So he said nothing about it, and concentrated on taking steady, straight steps out of the turbolift and down the corridor. "I saved your crewman."His reasons for attacking Relan were his own, and unclear, but the end result was not. He remained silent for the remainder of the trip and he found himself suddenly longing for the peace of a cell.
