[Ensign Enola - Akrath Island]
Enola nodded. "Correct, the Cardassian has escaped. ", she answered the question logically and strolled along the cell. At least the prisoner was willing to talk to them. " Did you get to know Toollamé a little better in prison?" she continued to ask, glancing once at the journalist and moving a little closer to the cell.

[LCDR Tony Sleebaggo - Akrath Island]
Sleebaggo turned the collar of his coat up to help block out some of the vicious wind. He stood looking over the hole in the wall before they were approached by some civilian of some sort. "Excuse me, ma'am," he said accusatorily as he looked the imposter up and down. It seemed the uppity Lieutenant had let her through. Worse, he had felt entitled to order around Sleebaggo's own departmental staff. Absolutely unacceptable. Before Sleebaggo answered the lengthy hypothesis Niles had decided to present his two superiors, despite being on the case for mere moments, Sleebaggo decided to address the youngsters impropriety. "Tell me, how many crime scenes have you been on, Leftenant?" he asked pointedly. "One would have thought that one requires very little experience to know not to let just anyone wander about," he huffed. "One would also expect that by the time an officer is promoted to leftenant they would understand the chain of command. Do not presume to order around my staff," he said looking between Enola and Niles. He then finally addressed the Lieutenant's insinuations. "As it seems your knowledge of protocol is sorely lacking, allow me to remind you that it is not at all proper to accuse the government with which are guests, acting at their invitation, of collusion. One should have far more evidence to off of before making such an insinuation, certainly more evidence than looking at a blast pattern for twenty seconds." [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Lt. j.g. Mabel Henriksen - Akrath Island]Charlie Fox making her appearance on the scene was hardly a dream for Judy, but the clash of egos between Sleebaggo and Niles was many times worse. Two officers, including a department head, getting into a macho standoff in front of the station's most anti-Starfleet journalist was a disaster. "Gentlemen," she addressed them, not raising her voice. "There's work to be done."Both men had tried to appropriate for themselves a managerial role - a command role. That role was hers. "Lieutenant, study the debris. Focus on the composition of it, and try to discern what type of device might have caused it. Commander, study the dirt here. Look for signs of movement, footprints, any pattern moving away from here. Ensign, I want you to go inside the cell block and try to chat with some of the prisoners. Mabel, look for the security footage," she instructed, quietly but resolutely. Then, she approached the journalist. "Ms. Fox, I'll vouch for your presence here, if you'll do me a favor. Do as Ensign Enola is doing, and see what information you can get from the jailbirds," she offered. Access to a crime scene - without an arrest for trespassing - was a heck of a commodity, after all. [Charlie Fox - Detention Centre, Akrath Island]When Josh told her he had to work and wandered off, Charlie merely shrugged a shoulder. She was used to being ignored, that was part of the job sometimes, but what she wasn't used to was the way this Sleebaggo character was looking at her. He didn't even know her. Josh at least had bought her dinner once; that kind of won him some leeway, but this little troll, he hadn't earned anything but her ire. "Excuse you," she interjected tartly, suddenly wondering where Matthew was, despite her anger at him, "Nobody lets me do anything. This whole perimeter was unmanned and I walked right on in, it had nothing to do with Josh."She was almost relieved when Eastman approached her, such was the extent of her irritation at all this wiener waving the two men were engaging in. Her eyes narrowed of their own accord as she met the Captain's gaze; she couldn't help that, nor the frown lines that sprung up between her brows. "Alright," she acquiesced after only the briefest of pauses. ... [ LT Joshua Niles - Akrath Island prison ]No sooner had Niles requested Enola's assistance until such a time as the Captain would have further tasks for the Intelligence Officer that Sleebaggo went off on a tirade of his own. Order his staff around? Departments were not private preserves where their heads were sole lords and masters, that much he had learned working with the likes of Captain Eastman and Captain Baker for the last year or so. And certainly, given this was the Old Lady's detail (something this supposed master of the chain of command would have realized), he certainly did not have to go through him to request assistance from anyone; granted, he ought to have asked the Captain if he could borrow the Vulcan for a few moments, but there was also this thing called initiative that was generally encouraged in officers. But then again, given the last month, one Lieutenant Joshua Niles was not entirely sure just how much latitude he had to work with on a day to day basis. But what truly got Niles' hackles raised was the further tirade about 'accusing' the Arkarian government of collusion. He ran his words through his mind again, seeing no evidence that he'd laid any sort of accusations, only that Toollame's location within the detention center had struck him as odd; could have been an oversight, a difference in procedures, or collusion at any level from the low-level prison official in charge of prisoner housing to the head of Arkarian government or anywhere in between, but he had certainly not accused anyone of anything. Though one thing, he could not suppress a bit of a grin when Charlie of all people went to his defence about his apparently 'allowing' her to wander a crime scene at will... and how perimeter security had been lacking, which was by far not his to worry about. However, one accusation he was unlikely to level at any given time in the foreseeable future was that one that Sleebaggo was capable of something as egregious as competence. But before he could give voice to any of his objections, the Captain detailed personnel to various tasks. When the Captain gave her orders, he simply inclined his head. "Aye, Captain, just as soon as... actually just about now." As he had started to say he would need to wait for the tools of the trade, a simple case in Starfleet markings materialized in the yard now that the Mac's officer of the watch and the Arkarian prison had communicated and arranged for the transport. From that case, he withdrew a tricorder, and then simply called out, as personnel was dispersing, that such equipment was available if required. Of course, far be it from him to insinuate the glorious Lieutenant-Commander Sleebaggo would ever need technological assistance in doing his job... which certainly had the looks of a make-work project intended to get him out of everyone else's hair. Now carrying at least the minimal gear required, though ideally he would prefer having someone with a dedicated post-blast analysis qualification about rather than merely the recent refresher he'd taken in investigative technique and forensics, Niles started scanning at the rubble. As expected, a portion of the mass of the wall was not easily accounted for, either vaporized or reduced to dust which could not easily be picked up; there was also biological material and what looked like it belonged to a Nausicaan, the amounts and nature of which would indicate terminal damage. And before long, he had something to work with but he still sent his findings to the Mac; even if there was no forensic team available up top, the ship's computers and links to Starfleet's networks had far greater analytical capability than a mere hand-held tricorder. "Captain, I have something. Looks like a photon grenade was used to blast through; I don't have a provenance for the device yet, I should get something fairly soon once the Mac's computers crunch my readings. Blast pattern, just as I thought, indicates that whoever set that charge bored about halfway into the wall; whoever did this at least had a passing knowledge of demolitions as they tried to at least send some of the shrapnel outboard. And if the Arkarians have a Nausicaan prisoner unaccounted for, I found enough to account for him; he must have been right up against the wall when that thing went off. And I still can't shake just how odd it is he was out in a perimeter cell on ground level no less; I'd be really curious to see what the Warden has to say about that."

[Lt. Cmdr. Pierce Taggert / PO1 Jovireh Velal - Arkaria - Shuttle] "Hopefully you still remember your Ops training," Taggert replied to Jenkins, though his tone was light and without judgement. Judy wouldn't have assigned the young man to his team if he couldn't pull his weight. Pre-flight checks complete, the Commander gestured for Jenkins to take a seat at an empty console. "That's a good place to start. Go ahead and run the auxillary scans for Cardassian biosigns." Taggert doubted whomever helped du Toollame escape would be so careless, but it would be even more careless to not investigate all possibilities. With Velal and Hudson already running the primary scans, he lifted off and turned the shuttle towards the island. Hopefully they could regain the ground they had lost before the Arkarian authorities decided to call them in. [NPC - PO2 Roland L. Jenkins - Shuttle]"I think I do, sir," Roland said awkwardly. He was still very far from the effortless conversations with superiors that were Mabel's bread and butter. He booted up the sensors and ran auxiliary scans. "I'm picking up a lifesign about 100 km away from here, in the mountains," he reported. "Sending it to you, sir... ma'am... ma'am."He sent the coordinate to them all.

[NPC - Kalda Kark - Akrath Island]Kalda looked up from the floor, where his gaze had been fixed, to the two offworld visitors. His cell was dimly lit, small, sparsely furnished, and yet exactly how he liked it. He stared right into the human one's eyes. "I don't mind," he asserted, in a raspy voice. "It makes things interesting; doesn't get any more interesting than the most unscrupulous Arkarians stepping over each other. The Xanbu Town Strangler[fn]Arkarian serial killer[/fn] got trampled to death." This was what Kalda lived for - watching people, observing them, noting their behaviors, studying them. He turned his piercing gaze to the Vulcan. "The Cardie got away, didn't he?" he growled. [Ensign Enola - Akrath Island]
Enola nodded. "Correct, the Cardassian has escaped. ", she answered the question logically and strolled along the cell. At least the prisoner was willing to talk to them. "Did you get to know Toollamé a little better in prison?" she continued to ask, glancing once at the journalist and moving a little closer to the cell. [Charlie Fox - Cells, Arkath Island]Charlie met the prisoner's gaze, feeling almost rooted to the spot under the heavy scrutiny of it. She might have shuddered, but the forcefield between them was intact, and the rasp in his voice and his interest in the mayhem hadn't yet triggered her flight instincts. She, too, took a step closer, brows raised with curiosity at the words the man had chosen to say. The Ensign's question would not have been her first, personally, but she supposed she should go along with it and not complicate matters. "He is a pompous windbag," Charlie said conversationally of the escaped Gul; having met him briefly and then been present to witness his glorious arrest; she felt justified in making her own observations. "I bet once he settled in he wouldn't shut up."She was dying to ask about the Strangler who'd been trampled during the confusion. With a wave of her hand, she sent Olsen hovering along the corridor to capture footage.

[LCDR Tony Sleebaggo - Akrath Island]
The fiery redhead was very rude. She certainly would need to learn her place. Unfortunately, the Captain seemed chummy with her. Even worse, she assigned the civilian to go and participate in the interrogation! While leaving Sleebaggo to examine dirt?! It was disgraceful, and showed that the strain of ineptitude led right to the Captain. How unfortunate. He didn't bother with the tricorder, but saw a set of footprints that went through the hotel towards the south end of the island. Not that it was of any use given Du Toollame was not Jesus and could, as far as it was known, not walk on water.
[LTJG Chloe Hudson - Shuttle]
Chloe was momentarily excited when Jenkins revealed he'd found someone's biosigns nearby in the mountains, though that excitement quickly faded. "It's not Du Toollame. Might still be worth checking out though, sir?" she suggested.

[ Ensign Enola - Akrath Island, Cells] Enola raised her eyebrows at the journalist's remark, said nothing to it, and looked back and forth between the prisoner and Charlie. If this was an attempt by Charlie to inject some humor into the atmosphere, it had escaped enola. But as a Vulcan-Romulan hybrid, what did she know about humor?
When the prisoner started talking, her eyebrow was back to normal. Fine, but that wasn't really the answer she wanted, or did she have to send him another personal invitation to tell what he knew about the Gul. The half-Vulcan seriously took another step closer to the force field and almost touched it with the tip of her nose.
She managed, with a little effort, to dismiss the prisoner's request as general conversation, since the question he asked was meaningless and far-fetched. Not to mention that it had absolutely nothing to do with the case at hand Starfleet wouldn't be here long, and telling a couple of prisoners to "Live long and prosper" (although the correct version would be "Live long and prosper in a prison") certainly wouldn't tug at Enola's heartstrings. She still stood glaring at the force field before taking another step back and releasing the prisoner from the extremely uncomfortable position. It was her job to get anything useful out of the prisoners, and she didn't want to give Sleebaggo another reason to get upset. That would probably bring him to the brink of a nervous breakdown. So it was perfectly reasonable and logical to compromise. "Fine," she replied, glancing briefly at Charlie. She didn't need her confirmation (unless she actually had something sublime against it), but it was just fascinating to see how she reacted. Finally, after a very brief survival, she took the initiative. "My name is Enola, that's all you need to know," she said, without introducing Charlie. She preferred not to take any risk, because perhaps the journalist did not like the fact that this prisoner knew her name. Although the private life of journalists was a completely different subject. Finally, the half-Vulcan looked around the room again, and her eyes met the robot that was rushing over. It was comparatively easy for her to see that this thing and Charlie probably belonged together. So she turned her head to the civilian. "What the hell is that?".
But she didn't really let it bother her for long, instead returning to her typical expression. "Did Tollamé ever give you any hints that he might be planning something? Did he name any people? Places? Did his behavior ever seem strange to you?".

[ Ensign Rin Zakir - Control Center, Spaceport HQ] Zak observed the Arkarians at work, in what appeared to be a run of the mill border check on an incoming vessel. What followed was also suitably well co ordinated, their scans quickly identifying a shielded chamber that was just as quickly searched and the illegal contraband within dealt with. It sure seemed like they knew what they were doing up here, but he couldn't take that at face value. Thankfully, it seemed as if the man was amiable enough to tolerate his presence, as well as initial questioning. He motioned him to follow, which he did, while listening intently to what was essentially a guided tour of the facility. On paper, it seemed as though they had everything figured out, with no fewer than four hundred orbiting satellites equipped with tractor beams to hold any ship whose crew chose not to co operate. It was all very impressive, but there was a saying about the best laid plans. "Sounds like on a good day, you've got everything worked out", he responded with a nod. Would today be a good day? So far, a supposedly secure facility had managed to lose a high profile criminal, so he suspected that things were hardly going to get better. Not if they let things lie, anyhow. "I must say, I'm particularly impressed that you seem to have so many defences in place. Would it be possible to take a look at some of the schematics?", he asked while making sure he kept things friendly. Hopefully if he sounded enthusiastic enough, they would be happier for him to do just that. While he was no engineer, but he did have tactical training and he had heard of scenarios where even the most state of the art equipment had been hacked or otherwise tampered with. Maybe Som could take a look too, from her own departments perspective. "By the way, how is the screening process on the inside? You know, checking that employees are actually themselves and not bringing in anything they shouldn't? he had a feeling that the man might balk at such a possibility, but plenty of crimes had been committed from the inside. Trust was important, but so was making sure that people were who they claimed to be. There was the inevitable question, he resisting groaning aloud while keeping his expression neutral. He supposed that it was a good one to ask though, given the history between his people and Du Tollame's, as it was entirely possible that he would be the sort to let personal feelings get in the way of what had to be done. He wasn't, at least he hoped to the prophets that he wasn't, but he knew many if people were. "I imagine that all of us here are taking a security breech of this magnitude very personally", he answered diplomatically before changing tac slightly. "If you mean what I think you do though, I can assure you that just because I have a wrinkly nose and a pretty earring, doesn't mean I'll be treating the fugitive any differently to anyone else", he added with a small smile. That should be enough for Trax to get the message, while letting him know that there were no hard feelings. It was a fair enough query, after all. Despite the small white lie, as of course the cardies were a slippery bunch with photographic memories, and needed to be handled accordingly. Tag: Isaiah Quinn , Kaya Som

The little spherical drone paused immediately in mid-air. "This is Olsen," she responded, wondering who was getting questioned here. "He's my holorecorder."Enola seemed to ask a lot of questions, and give very little in return. Perhaps this was her first rodeo; because as it stood, this prisoner didn't have to tell her anything. She could use force or threats, Charlie supposed, but that kind of thing took time they did not have. She waited, curious to see if he'd play ball with the demands for information. Something told her he wouldn't give anything for free. "And I'm Charlie Fox," she added, tacking her introduction on to the explanation of what Olsen was. "I work for the FNN. Du Toollamé is supposed to be my story, but if he's gone, I guess I wasted my trip." The truth was she'd been deposed, but explaining that did not fit with what she was trying to achieve at that moment. Judith Eastman and Enola

She stood back, examining her correspondence from various branches of the Arkarian government, as they worked, until Niles approached her. "Thank you, Lieutenant."She thought about the Nausicaan. That was an interesting development. "Lieutenant, try to bag some element of the Nausicaan's remains to send to Arkaria's national forensic labs. We can get a conclusive ID through them."Burial practices were likely out of the question, given the conditions. "Mabel, check the inmate database for Nausicaans.""Yes, ma'am."With that, Judy turned her attention to Sleebaggo. "Commander, you got anything?" she called out.

[Charlie Fox - Cells, Akrath Island]Charlie arched two surprised brows at the tone the Ensign was taking, but raised her hand in a fist in a command to Olsen to 'stop'. [NPC - Kalda Kark - Akrath Island]"Enola, such a pleasant name," Kalda rasped. "And Charlie Fox. Fox, that's a Terran animal."As a student of people, Kalda studied cultures too. "I am Kalda Kark, the Slicer of Sdorktin. Pleasure to meet you."The Slicer was the most prodigious serial killer of the 40s. He had kidnapped, tortured, and killed dozens of Arkarians, of all different origins and walks of life, and when apprehended, had pleaded guilty and accepted his life sentence without hesitation. He could study all sorts of people in jail, without his trusty knife. "Du Toollamé's story could be fascinating, if you tell it correctly. He was convinced that he had powerful friends who would save him. We never found out who, but there's a hole in the wall that implies they exist."

[ Kel Kallis - Level 6 (Sensors & Systems), Spaceport HQ] "No... nonono," Kel said. Her hands quickly danced across the keyboard as she scripted another subroutine quickly and turned her eyes to the screen once again. The bars that had spiked into a red region quickly receded to green. Kel exhaled in relief. The sensor grid was state of the art but maintenance had been postponed far too long. There were tiny bugs that were popping up everywhere. Nothing that was a major problem, but Kel felt like it was only a matter of time before some cascade failure occurred... in bulk. In theory, there were still another seven months before maintenance was mandated, but they were already eleven months past the recommended maintenance period. Kel exhaled. She had sent several presentations to Director Ke, showing how they could systematically preform the maintenance, bringing a few of the satellites offline at a time. It was something he kept putting on the backburner, insisting that it wasn't the right time. And now... well, taking any of them offline right now wasn't an option. Kel walked over to the KAINO and pulled one of the circuitry boards. Her eyes traced over the transparent board searching for a rupture, or anything that could catalyze any subspace static feedback. She picked up a magneton spanner and ran it along the length of the board. A thin green beam traced the path of the circuitry and the machine beeped, confirming that all was well. She started along a second circuit path when she heard someone speak. Kel looked up, impressed by the woman's sharp eye for recognizing the KAINO, but that wasn't all that she was impressed by. Kel swallowed and smiled. "Do you always ask questions you know the answer to?" Kel said sparing a moment for the woman. She had certainly earned that, given that half the people on this level would be lost without the trouble-shooter program she had scripted. "How can I help you... Kaya was it?" [ CPO Kaya Som | Level 6 - Sensors & Systems ]Kaya couldn't help but smile as the whole tone of the mission seemed to warm up. It would be really helpful to not be immediately faced with the same territorial hackles Kaya would certainly have should their situation be reversed. She approached to have a look at what Kel was doing with the very fancy sensor management set-up, resisting the urge to indulge her curiosity. Instead, she probably out to get to work. Every minute, the fugitive could very well be getting further away. "Oh, there's been a prison break," Kaya said with a girly shrug. "Some of our crew were to testify at this murder trial, but the guy blew a hole in a wall we're all trying to find him." The Trill engineer certainly didn't seem very bothered by the whole drama. She leaned on the console and tucked some hair behind her ear. "We think he might've snuck off-planet and Director Ke said I should bother you about the sensor net." Isaiah Quinn

[Lt.

Chloe was momentarily excited when Jenkins revealed he'd found someone's biosigns nearby in the mountains, though that excitement quickly faded. "It's not Du Toollame. Might still be worth checking out though, sir?" she suggested.
Tag: Judith Eastman , Jovireh Velal [Lt. Cmdr. Pierce Taggert / PO1 Jovireh Velal - Arkaria - Shuttle] Taggert grinned at the younger man's hesitant repsonse. It wasn't uncommon for Judy to have more confidence in her people than they had in themselves. At the mention of a single life sign in the mountains, he turned the shuttle towards it. "It's worth checking out. Cardassian?" He asked for clarification, his attention on piloting. The last thing they needed was any surprises with their first suspect. Jovireh remained quiet, her attention on her own console. She was running the scans continuously, but so far there were no disturbances or anomalies in the terrain they passed.

[NPC - Kil Ted - Somewhere in the Mountains]The tall, burly Cardassian known as Kil Ted sat by a campfire, atop a snow-capped mountain, with a variety of beacons and other equipment. His benefactors had warned that he'd be arrested, but promised they'd spring him right out. All he had to do was sit tight.

[LCDR Tony Sleebaggo - Arkath Island]"There appears to be three prints," Sleebaggo told the Captain after having had a look at the prints. "A small man, probably our missing Cardassian, and two with some sort of heavy boots. They went towards the sea." It wasn't much to go on, and far below Sleebaggo's skills or pay grade. Still, he was a diligent worker and did his job.
[LTJG Chloe Hudson - Shuttle]"He's sitting around some technology, he doesn't seem to simply be lost," Chloe pointed out after scanning the surroundings.
