[SCPO Jovireh Velal - Talor Prime - Lake Arp'uk Hotsprings]"I was hoping you'd be up for the challenge. It's a lot bigger than my old place." Feeling his arm around her waist, she followed the gentle pressure to close the remaining distance between them and returned the kiss with an equally playful bite to his lower lip. It only lasted a moment though, before she was pulling away. While she was fairly certain that unfortunately Ic would not be returning, there was no guarantee that they wouldn't be joined by anyone else. Jov knew all too well what would end up happening if they maintained physical contact for long.

[ Ensign Ic Arbrell — East Mountains, Talor Prime] “Ha’la T’Rok,” he repeated to himself, taking the time to turn the title as much as the name over on his tongue, and then as a thought. It was easier than L’Sho, thankfully, which even his mind stumbled over, tangling at the apostrophe. He clung to it, though, trying like a mantra to perfect the sound of Ha’la T’Rok Ha’la T’Rok, unable to fully tune out how easily Shavan-and-Jovireh closed the space he’d left. He shouldn’t have let it ache the way it did. Wasn’t that what he wanted for them? What they should have? Ic was already being consumed without his consent, but there was nothing the Talorian could do about that. "Thank you, again."A sigh trembled from his throat, and Ic finally decided to pull his robe on again, to hide his emotions under the guise of growing cold, which he was, too, so it wasn’t a complete fabrication. It was clear enough that Ha’la T’Rok would not ask about this, and that was alright. Ic normally preferred silence, but not when he sat otherwise alone with his feelings. Never when he had feelings he wanted to smother.Ha’la T’Rok was probably good at that. “Are there others I could get some help from, sir? Say, if I wanted to have something delivered to my friends back there. A good wine or something else that’s nice.” [Ha'la T'Rok - Hot Springs, East Mountains]"Yes," the Talorian confirmed when the chu'ta repeated his title and name. T'Rok noted that he did not offer a title or name in return, and decided not to ask. It might be offensive in that culture for a guard to ask for the honour of knowing a name. He was pleased with himself at his own caution. He did not believe his new walking companion to be offended, but he did find it hard to tell sometimes. Even when amongst his own people. Especially when with L'Sho. He cocked his head slightly as he listened to the question. "Yes. There are Talorians assigned to serving you in the guest area. They are monks of East Mountains. They will bring wine to your friends." He was not asked, but he was feeling a little more confident with each successful interaction, and so continued helpfully, "The elders scoff at those who drink of the ramba wine; they say it is for the young. I enjoy it. It is sweet but it burns pleasantly after a long sip."T'Rok reached out and pushed a large branch out of their path, and then obediently waited for chu'ta to precede him. "I will arrange for you to sample some when we return, if you would like."

{Quotes} [ LT Joshua Niles - Lake Arp'uk, East Mountains, Talor Prime ]{Quoted Post(s)} [Felicity Ellis - Lake Arp'uk]Standby!?
STANDBY! Standby for what, death!? It would be too late, she realised. Only she and Rin could work this out. And how could they do that? Felicity nodded along in agreement as the Lieutenant began to chatter away himself. "You wouldn't like the taste of this one," she said, then started making retching noises to back up her assertion. "Blerg! Gross. Not even a marinade." The unusual part about this whole situation was that the creature was obviously intelligent. If it intended to eat them, then playing with its food was evidence of a heightened ability to perceive. If it did not plan on eating them, then perhaps its behaviour was of curiosity. Felicity always had to touch. She shouldn't, but when presented with something new, she often automatically reached out in order to help her mind categorise it. And so, when the giant squid-like thing unfurled a long tentacle and moved toward her, she responded. But before anything else could happen, she found herself flying backward, having let go of the oar as soon as Rin was dropped. She windmilled her arms for a couple of seconds - seconds that seemed like an age in slow-motion, and then fell backwards into the lake, the small auk rocking with the disturbance. She did not fall to much depth and her head was breaking the surface again almost immediately. She treaded water for a moment, and then let out a gasp as something encircled her waist. She flew out of the water, through the air and back into the boat. She spared Rin, who had already been safely deposit on board, a wide-eyed stare. Then she brushed back the soaked strands of hair and turned to face the huge creature. She bowed. "You have our gratitude."Felicity was freezing and her new boots were destroyed, but she was beginning to realise that the Lieutenant was not to feature on the menu.

He was far enough away not to be overheard by weak human hearing, but not far enough away to be able to pretend to miss Lt. Niles' uncouth shouting. The man's demands on L'Sho's time seemed incessant. He spoke a few more words in a rare dialect to his contact, and then ended the call. At a steady pace, he approached the pair of humans at the overlook and glanced out toward the lake, expecting to see others of their kind involved in some sort of mishap. Humans were clumsy. What he saw, however, surprised even he. "That is kret'kala. They were the allies of the old gods. We do not see the kret'kala often." He paused for a moment, regarding the unexpected scene. "Talorians are the only bipedal species I believe they would have encountered, apart from the gods themselves. As we are semi-aquatic, we do not often require assistance in our waters. It appears that the kret'kala mistook your crew's ineffective splashing about not as swimming, but as distress."L'Sho was amused. He began to laugh.

[Ambassador L'Sho, former Primary of Talor, former Supreme Commander of the Talorian Armada - Overlook, East Mountains]L'Sho glanced at the unnamed one, wondering if his words were considered clever by his people. "You clearly have a generous definition of intelligent life." The citizens of the Federation seemed intent on mediocrity and banality in all things. Had this human been in possession of any intelligence at all, he would have ensured he was in no danger of predators before flinging himself with blissful ignorance into Lake Arp'uk. "Your people are lucky they encountered kret'kala and not t'kret.[fn]Ferocious aquatic beast[/fn]"The Ambassador's pleased expression suggested that he might have enjoyed such a thing much more. There was nothing like the smell of blood in the water to get the warrior spirit singing. He had no idea why these people were not using their fancy transporter systems to remove the Commander and the almost-naked Lieutenant. They would likely have swam to shore by the time this pair of sroc[fn]An unintelligent, extinct animal. Idiot.[/fn] made it through the first round of shuttle safety checks. Alas, it was not his place to criticise. Nor would his opinion be welcomed. "I look forward to receiving you all at the banquet." With a small bow he made his exit, a slight spring evident in his step.
Tags: Myker Vulbrix , Joshua Niles . Exit L'Sho. [ Myker Vulbrix - Lake Arp'uk, East Mountains, Talor Prime] Myker looked at the ambassador for a second, he wasn’t trying to be clever. Clever would’ve been a sickly sweet compliment laced with insult. No. Myker was merely mirroring the hostility of the other man. His words about intelligent life only got a shrug out of the Betazoid, since that opinion was often shared but many species weren’t telepathic. The rest of the Ambassadors' words weren’t even acknowledged by Myker except to wave when the man finally left to do whatever it was he did. Niles' question about fishing though had Myker looking at the lieutenant with a puzzled expression on his features. ”I am sure the Commander and Zakir can get themselves out of the water. It doesn’t look like the squish is going to drown them.” he looked back at the scene, neither seemed to be in serious danger and both could swim. Besides, the Commander could get herself out of her own bind as could Zakir. The Betazoid was clearly disinterested in rescuing either of them, his attention more focused on the creature. It was interesting to him and there was something almost comforting about being able to default to his telepathy even if he normally refrains out of personal choice. [ Ensign Ic Arbrell — East Mountains, Talor Prime] “That all sounds wonderful, Ha’la T’Rok,” Ic replied with a soft yet joyless smile. There was enough satisfaction in it, though, to keep it more sweet than bitter. Not that he expected Ha’la T’Rok ( Ha’la T’Rok, Ha’la T’Rok) to notice, but the Betazoid kept close track of the thoughts and feelings he allowed to show on his face. He kept even tighter control to hide intensities. “Actually, it’s exactly what I’d hoped for.” At least something was. Ha’la T’Rok’s observation of Ic’s neglect to present his own title nagged at him as they walked on, mostly because it did so in the back of his mind already. It had for weeks. He waffled now between the urge to fill this turbulent silence with an explanation that he and others chose not to include their occupations in their interactions off-duty, and so his own title of Ensign along with his name (even if it wasn’t much of one) was presently irrelevant, and the knowledge that if he started talking about it, poor Ha’la T’Rok would probably wish he’d never had the thought. Well, there was the clincher, it seemed. It had only been a thought, and he didn’t know anything about him or enough about Talorians to know if that would be a Problem. He liked Ha’la T’Rok. He checked all the boxes, as the saying went. Tall, strong, reticent, mysterious, blue. He had an easy manner compared to the scattered and excitable Ic Arbrell. He had that sense of duty (which Ic also liked when coded stubborn) that put him at ease, made him feel safe. It would be wrong to ask him to stick around. It would be wrong to say a damned thing about it, even if company, if comfort was all it was. “I can probably find my way back from here, I think I recognize this area from my way in,” he indicated without a gesture to a few trees up the way that didn’t look any different from any others. “I don't mean to trouble you, and Ambassador Lush— La, Lesh— Li— Li-Ssho is probably in want of his ha’la. And if… if you’re ever back on Frontier, you can look me up if you have time off-duty. Ensign Ic Arbrell.” Though part of that might no longer be true by then. L'Sho (t’rok)

[Ambassador L'Sho, former Primary of Talor, former Supreme Commander of the Talorian Armada - Guest Lobby & Viewing Room] L'Sho's Twilight Banquet 17:55
The table was long, low to the ground and decorated minimally. There was a simple elegance to it; much like, he believed, L'Sho himself. The cloth was soft as silk and as pristinely white as his robes. Each setting was carefully placed and each cushion upon the floor was plumped. The great archways to the lake outside were left open, providing an unspoiled view and allowing the cool breeze to puff gently throughout the chamber, causing the hundreds of lit candles to flicker. The guests would be able to appreciate the magnificent view of the lake and mountains as the suns set, the second following its younger sibling forty minutes later.
As with most Talorian homes, a heat emanated from beneath the stone. It would keep everyone wrapped in a cosy warmth as they sat upon their cushions on the floor and dined. Several servers stood ready in their corners, some carrying carafes of wine and various beverages, others standing to attention, awaiting his final verdict.
"It is sufficient."
He had put together the menu himself and had overseen many of the details for this banquet. Meticulous to the last, he deftly adjusted the angle of a two-pronged eating utensil by two degrees.
"My gratitude." He straightened and bowed to the monks. They deserved his respect for their excellent service to his guests, and to their gods.

[Ha'la T'Rok - Hot Springs, East Mountains]A small frisson of something unusual caught hold of the burly Talorian for a moment. He did not often feel it, but it had been powerful enough each time for him to remember it clearly. Pride. He had been of help to someone. He had offered words and they had been received without dismissal or ridicule. T'Rok's smile was with his eyes. Though he then recognised a different type of dismissal for what it was. It was polite, kind even, but he recognised in the chu'ta someone who required a time alone. A time without feeling burdensome. The ha'la bowed. "Ensign Ic Arbrell. My gratitude for the honour of providing escort. Should you be in need of further escorting during your stay, I would be pleased to oblige." The Talorian disappeared into the green and brown of the woods, wondering what there was to do during time off-duty apart from sleep and training.

He knew he would soon be expected to join the meal, but until then his place was not to mingle, and he would not speak until spoken to. Try as he might to keep his mind clear of distractions and sharp for his Kam'Do, he could not help but wonder at what new things he might learn about these guests.

[Felicity Ellis - Cave Room -> Guest Lobby]
It had not taken too long for Felicity to warm and dry following the debacle in the lake with Lieutenant Rin and the kret'kala, as she had later learned it was called. The Talorians seemed to make excellent use of the natural features of their planet, and the same phenomenon that produced the hot springs of the Arp'uk region also provided a native heating system that spread throughout the labyrinthine structures. She knew Judy would appreciate it.
After a wonderfully hot soak, Felicity began to do some research on guest and meal protocols. She learned that guests could basically do whatever they pleased, and wear whatever they pleased. It was the host who had to be seen to be the most gracious, the one to put in the most effort. As such, she could have turned up in her pajamas, but as entertaining as that thought was, Felicity had always prided herself on being a good guest. She might not be expected to make an effort, but doing so would be the right call.
The servants, who she had discovered were monks, brought her some formal robes at her request. They had even assisted in dressing her. That had been a little unusual to her, as the monks were all male, but the garment was a bit complicated so she didn't complain. Not aloud, anyway. When they were finished, she regarded her reflection with curiosity. It looked very much like a too-white toga, with material draped across the chest and then cinched at the waist. All she was missing was a laurel atop her head and she could have been going to a frat party. Or to assassinate Caesar.
When her commbadge chirped an alarm, she made her way toward the guest lobby, bare feet making almost no sound. It was a beautiful set up, truly, and the scene outside took her breath away. She could see the jetty, where she'd taken the auk earlier. The lake was eerily calm and a deep, sapphire blue, with streaks of icy-light veins spread across the surface. The sky was a swirl of warm blues and oranges as the suns set.
"What a stunning place."

[SCPO Jovireh Velal - Talor Prime - Guest Lobby]It had been a wonderful afternoon in the hot springs, every bit as relaxing and fun as she had hoped for. Although Ic had not returned to the springs - and no one else had joined them - the younger Betazoid had thoughtfully sent one of the Talorian monks with a bottle of wine which she and Shavan hadn't hesitated in sharing. When the bottle was empty, Jov had finally decided to return to her room in the caves to get ready for the banquet they had already promised to attend. She hadn't thought to bring any formal clothes, but she did have a pair of slacks and a slightly nicer long sleeve top that she supposed would have to do. As her hair was still slightly damp, she left it loose in natural waves and made her way towards the lobby when she saw the sun sinking lower towards the horizon. As soon as she entered the room, she paused to take in the scene before her. Kaelpra had described settings like this... It was even more beautiful and ornate than she had imagined. Swallowing back the pang of sadness, she forced a smile and nod of greeting at their host and made her way over to Felicity, thankful to not be the first 'guest' there. "Evening, Commander."

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Hot Springs -> Guest Lobby] Drifting deeper into the springs when they broke apart, Shavan was content to continue spending the rest of the afternoon in the relaxing water and Jovireh’s company. The bottle of Talorian wine, when it arrived, was definitely welcome. The time passed in a lazy blur as they shared it, though he kept his continued awareness of the absence of its sender to himself. Eventually the suns sank lower in the sky, and they made their way back to the caves and parted ways before the banquet. Now fully dressed and mildly curious about how this was going to go, Shavan emerged from the passage leading back to the rooms and glanced over those who had already arrived. He greeted Jov and the Commander briefly, with a small smile and a nod. His gaze then slid past them, inevitably drawn to the very handsome and intriguing Talorian ambassador. Most of the rumors about L’Sho’s unpleasantness had failed to mention that he looked like that. Watching the Talorian, Shavan approached the table, and ended up choosing to greet him simply. “Good evening, Ambassador. Thank you for the invitation.”

[Lt.JG Rin Zakir - Lake Arp'uk - Talor Prime]
As Ellis began to back him up, he was pretty sure he had been at least mildly insulted. Okay, so he probably deserved it after getting her caught up in this mess, though to be fair that had not been entirely his fault. Not that the situation got any better, as he had found himself missing the boat and back in the frigid waters of the lake. He wondered why such a creature had not come up when he had checked the local flora and fauna before beaming down. It almost felt as though it had been missed out on purpose, but then he doubted that the talorians would pull a stunt like that...right?
Hearing another splash, his worst fear seemed to be confirmed as the XO also ended up taking an ice bath. Oh Prophets, he was in trouble now, he thought with a wince. Thankfully, she too was deposited back onto the boat, by the creature who blinked it's massive eye when Not Lieutenant thanked it for letting them go.
At that point, Niles got back to them, confirming that they were in no danger of being eaten, at least. Then why had it decided to pick o them then? It thought he was in distress? Really? He's always considered himself a strong swimmer, in fact he was, so why had it...oh.
"Either the talorians don't swim in the lake or they're much more accustomed to the water temperature", he spoke, realising that he may have shivered a little as he tried to acclimate. It wasn't the first time he'd been winter swimming, but this was the first time he'd been mistaken to be in distress. Maybe the speedo had been a bad idea, but he hadn't intended to stay in for long or even to go beyond the shallows! He was usually better prepared than this too. Maybe this was the sort of thing that happened when got cocky...
As the creature decided to depart, it seemed to wave a tentacle at the pair as it resubmerged itself beneath the waters, returning to the depths from whence it had come. The pink ones had proven very interesting, and it wondered about 'The One in it's Head', but quickly returned to hunting for more appetising prey than Lieutenants and Not Lieutenants. Too big and chewy looking...
[Guest Lobby - Talor Prime]
After the earlier debacle, he had thought very strongly about not showing his face at this banquet, but then he felt he owed it to the commander and all involved to try and make up for the earlier mishap he had intentionally caused with the kret'kala. He still wondered why he hadn't seen any reference to it when he had checked for local wildlife, but what was done was done. Besides, if you couldn't laugh at yourself, then who could you laugh at?
Choosing a bajoran style tunic and trousers, he entered the room and was left in awe at the effort they had apparently put in to make them feel welcome. He also noticed the man who at a guess he would presumed to be their host, though he chose to merely acknowledge him with a nod rather than approach directly. He didn't want to make things worse for himself by taking a misstep when it came to talorian customs, but at least now he was more sufficiently clothed!
He decided to avoid the commander for the time being as well, choosing to mingle with others he recognised from the crew. It was difficult to turn off the alertness that had been trained into him as a security officer, so one eye was keeping lookout for trouble. Not that there should be any trouble. Right?

[Ambassador L'Sho, former Primary of Talor, former Supreme Commander of the Talorian Armada - Guest Lobby]L'Sho was torn. The Commander had arrived in the formal attire of his people, and yet she had failed to greet him in the proper manner, instead choosing to point out the obvious. "Yes," he agreed with no inflection to his tone. His home was stunning. The humans continued to amaze him with their ability to bore. Then the one who disliked his nudity arrived. Perhaps it was more accurate to say the one who disliked him, overall, his nudity only being part of it. Another followed - the one who had encountered the kret'kala. L'Sho wondered as to that choice; he did not appear in the slightest bit worthy of the ancient creature's attention. Then, finally, a guest who had the grace to announce themselves properly and show the appropriate appreciation. Unsurprisingly, this one was not a human. That much was evident by the colour, and of course the lacking air of arrogance and entitlement. "It is my honour," he responded to Shavan, then waved forward an attendant. "Try the wine. It is from my personal collection."

"Evening, Commander." [Felicity Ellis - Guest Lobby]Felicity was saved from having to create more painful conversation with the Ambassador by the arrival of Jovireh Velal. "Hey, Chief," she greeted easily just as a server appeared at her elbow. She plucked a glass of something from his tray, and passed it to Jovireh, before taking one for herself. She nodded in response to Shavan as he arrived, but also noted that Rin was apparently avoiding not just her, but potentially also her gaze. She grinned, and then brought up the wine glass in attempt to hide her expression. "Good day?" She asked the Security officer, beginning to feel some relief that a portion of the crew had shown up. It reflected well on them, she supposed, but also it meant she wouldn't be the awful Ambassador's main target. They could share in the misery. Inwardly, she scolded herself a little. She was being negative about something that hadn't even happened yet, and that was unfair. Perhaps it would be a lovely, informative evening. There was wine, at least. "I met a giant squid."

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Guest Lobby] Shavan drew closer to the Ambassador, a small smile curving the corners of his lips as L’Sho responded agreeably enough. “It would be my pleasure.” He took the offered glass of wine from the attendant, considering what he had heard about interacting with Talorians. Admittedly that wasn’t much, but they did seem to like formality… and though he knew who he was talking to, the reverse may not be true. Shavan definitely would have remembered if they’d actually talked before. “I’m Lieutenant Shavan Th’zhaar,” he added a brief introduction. He raised the wine glass to his lips, taking a slow sip while his gaze lingered on L’Sho’s attractive features. L'Sho

[SCPO Jovireh Velal - Talor Prime - Guest Lobby]Accepting the glass of wine that Felicity handed her, she nodded with a bright smile. "It's been nice and relaxing." Jov took a small sip of the wine, the half bottle she had already drank enough to ease the nerves she would have otherwise felt at the start of such an event. Her gaze swept around the room as a few more people entered, and her expression faltered slightly when she saw Shavan talking to the Ambassador. Oh no... Jov knew that look. Of all the Talorians in the room... She didn't know L'Sho well enough to know how he handled his personal life, but as the former Primary was the host of the banquet, she could only hope that he would be honor-bound to stay for the duration. That gave her some time to figure out how to warn Shavan. Felicity's comment about meeting a giant squid was enough to pull her out of her thoughts, and she turned to the other woman with a look of surprise. "Really? What was it like?" The anthropologist in her surged to the surface, pushing away her concern over the interaction occurring across the room.

[ Ensign Myker Vulbrix - Talor Prime - Guest Lobby] The day had taken a turn for the interesting with giant squids, who were sentient in a way that Myker hadn't come across in sea creatures, and a banquet that they'd been invited to. Myker however doubted the Talorian had come up with the idea since his distaste for them was apparent even from their brief meeting. Once it was clear that Zak and the Commander were safe, Myker had returned to the caves to prepare himself for the evening's activities. His mind was still on the creature they'd encountered as he ran through some very precise meditation to secure his telepathy firmly behind the barrier he created in his mind. It was something he'd been shown by a specialist when he was still a youth when things overwhelmed him. The mediation was comforting and once completed it changed his entire psyche. He felt much calmer and more at ease, once again willing to face people and interact effectively. Myker changed from his walking attire into something more formal. He wore his uniform trousers with a black tunic that was almost militant in style, complete with combat style boots since he'd not had the sense to bring dress shoes. It wasn't his uniform so didn't look official but looked appropriate enough to be both formal and respectable. He also wouldn't blend in so much with his human counterparts, while Myker ordinarily may have been comfortable with that it seemed on this occasion drawing a distinct line between himself and them may prove valuable. Myker entered the guest lobby easily spotting the familiar faces of those part of his crew. He had noted that the commander had dressed in the formal dress of the Talorian's. A bold move for anyone really, wearing the traditional attire may have been a sign of respect but if she couldn't uphold the traditions it may have been seen as taunting. Something that they really ought nothing to be encouraging given the Ambassador already disliked them. "Evening Commander, Chief" he greeted both the women before moving on to greet their host. "Greetings Ambassador." Myker tried to take in as much information in the customs of Talorian's but with his mind very much on the ellipse and the earlier incident with the kret'kala it was hard to recall everything. As long as he didn't offend then it was a win in his book. "I would like to express my thanks for extending the invitation to us and my apologies for my earlier words." he said simply. His tone remained steady, betraying nothing. He'd not intended to create greater hostility and maybe now was a good a time as any to smooth that over. He'd seen Shavan had been there and so swiftly left not wishing to disrupt any conversation between the two but still fulfilling his obligations. The view from the room was beautiful and the colours painted in the sky with the setting suns were captivating. Myker couldn't remember the last time he'd seen a sunset as wonderful as this one. It was home on Betazed most likely. That thought brought on that familiar longing for home which he quickly sidelined in his mind so it didn't overtake him. L'Sho soft for Jovireh Velal Felicity Ellis and elsewhere
