[SCPO Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Promenade]The Vulcan didn't try to run, and Jovireh held back a sigh of relief. Smartest decision you've made all day. But she kept that particular thought to herself as she holstered her phaser and approached the suspect. She learned the hard way about taunting murderers the last time she'd apprehended one on the Promenade. While Kazeme kept his phaser trained on the assassin, Jov stepped up behind her and cuffed her wrists behind her back. "Thanks for your help, Ensign." Keeping one hand on the Vulcan's arm, she glanced over at Kazeme, and nodded for him to put his phaser away now that the subject was restrained. "Good work, Az. Go back to the office and check on Brad, then start on the report. Once the paperwork is done you both can call it a day." With those orders given, she turned her attention back to the Vulcan woman in her custody. "And you are coming with me to the brig."

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Sickbay]Riyo nodded, casting one last look at the patient they couldn't save before heading to the adjoining CMO's office. Thankfully Leanna wouldn't be expecting him home for another few hours, as this was probably going to take awhile. Replicating two cups of coffee, he set one on the desk for Thea and kept the other in his hand as he sat down in the second chair and turned one of the consoles towards him. Now where to start... Getting the DNA from the biobed scanners and running for matches in the system was as good of a place as any.

[ Thea - Primary Sickbay] Stepping into her old office once again following the heightened emotional experience of both losing and saving a patient. Allowed Thea to take a deep breath, letting the whole thing fully sink in, as she then mentally prepared herself for the task that had been set for her and Riyo. Upon seeing the replicated cup of coffee that was set on her desk, Thea smiled softly at the gesture and knew it would definitely come in useful and give her an extra boost of energy. " Thank you for the coffee, I think we'll definitely need it" she remarked as she sat down. Picking the cup up, Thea blew on the hot liquid within and then took a sip. Appreciating the flavour before she set it down and turned her attention to the computer in front of her. Activating it quickly, Thea then began with the file they had on the late Crime Boss and accessed it, in the hope that it would contain something useful.

[Family Quarters - Civilian Decks] Speaking about the adoption was such a happy topic for Leanna and her blended family. Never once thinking it would ever be possible to find someone who wanted that and actually chose to be a family rather than well she didn't need to say much on that particular person. The Betazoid was also aware that it was something else that she shared in common with the Eastman - Williams and listened as Max shared his own experience. It was good to hear and loved hearing how he had called them 'our' children. That was something that had happened to her and Riyo, a natural progression if you will as they got serious. She still hadn't forgotten how the children had taken to him instantly and understood why it would be easier for her. " It has been so far and Ari is beyond excited at having more siblings. As for Aven he's still a little bit too young to understand but he definitely knows something is going on".Smiling as Max then told her that it all works out, Lea didn't doubt that and just had to look at his family for reference. She was certainly lucky yet not completely naïve in thinking that there wouldn't be some adjustment once the twins did arrive. " That's good and I'm confident that it will for us too".

[NPC - Unknown - Deck 9]In the assassin's mind, it all crystallized now, Starfleet's strategy and her own failure. This grunt with the bugged-out UT was just here to stall her, until the other one, another failed Vulcan, showed up. And that one knew to look for her because she didn't use enough blood. She didn't feign a big enough wound. "It would be illogical to attempt escape."She stood still, letting Starfleet do the work of restraining her and whatever else they had planned. Adrenaline levels began decreasing in his blood. The hunt left him, allowing for his thoughts to focus on things outside of fight or flight. The situation dissolved itself without incident. No more blood was spilled. No bones needed to be broken.
The Chief of Security thanked him and he stood at attention, giving the commanding officer a firm salute. "Happy to help, Senior Chief. Now zhat zhe situation has resolved, I leave zhe rest in zhe competent hands of you and your subordinates. Auf wiedersehen." he said, turning on his heels as he pulled the PADD back out of his pocket. Grey eyes once more became fixated on the device. Or, at least he hoped.

Tag: Judith Eastman Jovireh Velal [NPC - Unknown - Deck 9]For the assassin, now in Federation custody, there were many options, most of them highly illogical. However, there was one logical option. "It is illogical to maintain my deception," she stated coolly. "This is an internal matter, relating to the deceased's profession. I am aware that there are legal consequences for such actions, but it is logical that you know it has only benefited your position."

[SCPO Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Promenade]The rest of the officers departed to go about their duties, leaving her with the restrained - yet unusually talkative - Vulcan assassin. "Duly noted," she commented simply. Since she didn't know the reason Hezula had come to the station, she was not in a place to comment on whether or not her death was beneficial to them. "Now if you'll come with me..." Keeping her hand on the woman's arm, Jov turned to begin walking towards the turbolift that would take them to the security node.

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - CMO's Office]Riyo nodded in response to her thanks for the coffee. Research was the most drudging part of their job, in his opinion. And it was definitely the most mentally taxing. Combine that with the adrenaline crash after the emergency procedure, he'd be concerned if any doctor didn't feel the need for some caffeine. His gaze remained focused on the console in front of him as he sipped from his own mug, watching patiently as the computer searched its various databases for DNA matches.

[ Thea - CMO's Office] Thea knew that their search might not gain any results but as she sipped on the coffee, feeling the caffeine start to hit, she became a little more optimistic. Offering Riyo a soft smile as he responded to her with a nod. Thea didn't expect much conversation until they at least found a hint of something useful, as they both knew what was at stake and how serious this was. Not to mention the still raw emotions of what they had tried to do. Her thoughts trailed momentarily to the little boy under the care of Nurse Angelina, before refocusing on the data that was displayed on the screen. It appeared that Command had done their homework when it came to Hezula, finding a rather extensive file about the life of the late Crime Boss. " Looks like I've found something" Thea began, her tone filled with a glimmer of hope. " An Aunt named Adzoa who raised Hezula".Sure she could tell Judy before she reached out to Hezula's Aunt, however decided to make the call first then inform the other Captain as she didn't know how this would work out. " Let's see if she is willing to talk to us, before I inform Ops".Finding the information that she needed, Thea then activated the comm, being as professional as ever, even if her heart was hammering in her chest. =/\= Adzoa, this is Captain Thea Baker from Front Ear Station, I have some news about your niece Hezula, if you'd be willing to talk to me =/\=

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD - Ops]"Now, since Mr. Paxton did finish up that hack in time, I have my end of the bargain to hold up."Judy was a woman of her word, on issues large and small alike. "During the War, I was one of the Starfleet engineers that studied the Breen energy weapon, along with our Romulan and Klingon allies, and in the process, I got to experience the Klingon work culture up close," she explained. "On Qo'Nos, the workday starts sometime in the mid-morning hours, then you work for maybe 4 hours, go out for a rather boozy late lunch, go back to the office, tend to the wounded, get some more work done until nightfall, and then either go drinking or go to the Opera. I'm not exactly built for bar fights, so I went to see Klingon Opera every night, for the whole two weeks I spent on Qo'Nos. It was... instructional."
Tag Myker Vulbrix [ Ensign Emerson Paxton - Ops] Emerson was still trying to process how badly things had gone. They had a dead Orion, a child and a ship that had left both of those in their hands. Thankfully the Captain quickly got things in order and started giving out instructions to help them work out what to do next. Orders given, Judy then went on to deliver the story about the Klingon opera and how she was aware of it. Emerson listened intently before asking, "Do you speak Klingon?" he was curious, an entire opera in a language she didn't understand would've been a challenge in itself.
[ Myker Vulbrix - Ops] His search had proved to be informative and as he dug deeper into Hezula’s roots he got a clearer idea what would be expected for her burial. It was simpler than he’d imagined but then Orion’s weren’t particularly sentimental types, but laying their dead to rest held some value, some importance as it did for many other cultures. ”I have the information regarding the burial of Hezula.”Although it seemed Orion’s held few superstitions with regards their dead, a belief in some after-life seemed apparent. With a few more searches Myker knew what they would have to do. From what he could gather someone of her rank and heritage her body would be adorned with a scarlet coloured cape with golden threads in the seams. A ceremony would follow and she would be laid to rest in the vacuum of space, cremated and combined with elements set to explode and to illuminate the sky in colors. Red for valor, blue for unity and green the colors of the Orion’s themselves and the key to the afterlife. She would join her ancestors amongst the constellations surrounding her home planet and beyond. Myker made a note of all this as Judy explained her Klingon Opera story to the Ensign. He waited curiously for Judy’s answer about her Klingon language skills. Judith Eastman

She'd hope to be interrogated properly, and to reveal just how sympathetic she'd be to any jury.

[Family Quarters - Civilian Decks] Listening to Max's own philosophy about family not having to be blood, struck an emotional chord with the Betazoid. Realising not for the first time, that it was a sound take on what someone considered to be family. Sure she had her immediate family but over the years, she had established a much larger extended family with those she employed and her friends. Even meeting Riyo she had formed another extension of that and how he had accepted her and her children without doubt or question. All of it seemed more profound and emotional in those short few minutes, although could easily blame it on hormones. " Exactly it does and I've been lucky to call so many people family even with them not being blood" she replied, then grinned at his next comment. " It really is and if you're thirsty at all Max, there's fresh juice in the fridge and of course fresh coffee too or there should be. Oh and if you'd like something sweet, Brooke dropped off some cakes and brownies this morning".She might be on bed rest but that didn't stop Lea from being a good host, even if she couldn't go get it like normal.
