=/\= "Security to Ops. Several members of the crew here have witnessed what they believe to be... shadow people out of the corners of their eyes," =/\= Kova reported. [NPC - Lt. j.g. [ Ariana & Leanna - Park, Deck 6] " Tis my favourite, although I did love yours and Evekh's" Ari declared, her cheeks still a little flushed from singing so enthusatically, before reaching for a piece of chicken and her fruit juice. The children may of appeared as though nothing was potentially going on around them, but Leanna couldn't ignore or pretend that the shadows were still present. In between Kyo's worry about Saya and what Judy was experiencing, it was becoming obvious that they weren't just having an effect on her. So when Judy agreed with her and whispered to them all, before taking out her tricorder, it was good to know that she wasn't imagining it all, not that she could with the feeling she had. Still it gave some reassurance to the Betazoid, as Judy then informed them, that she couldn't see anything to work with and asked what they were thinking it could be. That was easy for Lea to answer as she looked at her friends. " I can sense them and I believe that they're also telepaths but it's weak ... I could try sending a message to them?".
tag Judith Eastman Ozu Saya [ Domen Kyo - Park] Kyo hadn't noticed any of the strange shadows up to this point, but he certainly saw the one that, bizarrely, seemed to come from inside Judy. Now he was really worried for Saya, and his gaze turned to the kids to make sure none of the shadow beings was hanging around them. They seemed clear, and still happily eating their food. I'm not sure, Kyo said, his tone tense. What if it provokes them with the kids here? Do you think we could try to get them somewhere else, first? If only he could be as protective of Saya as they both were of Evekh. It was one reason they'd come to the station - quite a bit safer than being on a starship. [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams), Max Williams, & Grandchildren - Park]=A= "Got it, thank you," =A= Judy answered the Comm message from Ops, which so briefly disrupted them. "I think whatever they are, if they caused this, we're not safe anywhere," she then said to Kyo. Then, she turned to Lea. "To be safe, I think you should try to send as simple a message as you can. Just to get across the point that we mean well," she suggested. "We don't know what they are, who they are, so we want to play it safe." Max looked out towards the kids. "Why don't we serve you some more treats while the grown-ups work?" he offered. The inevitable sugar high was a familiar beast, far easier to contain than fear of the unknown.
Tag Leanna Mazal and Ozu Saya [ Chief Ozu Saya - Main Engineering] Saya was up and checking systems as soon as dim lights came up. Not full power; too many blown relays. Computer, run a level 3 diagnostic on all systems and report. As the computer beeped an acknowledgment, Saya's gaze caught on shadows against the far wall - two of them seeming bent over some sort of work. She looked sharply around, trying to see if the shadows were cast by some engineers working at a station, but no one was in a similar position, and the lighting was too dim and wrongly placed anyway. The chief soft-stepped across the deck, eyes intent on the shadows and wondering if these would disappear as those which had obviously been in her office had done.
Tag Judith Eastman and Sven Aune /!\ WARNING /!\Just as Engineering was getting things under control, the reactor went critical again. For no apparent reason or explanation the massive life giving machine spiked in energy, overloaded and blew. Once again, power surged through the station for a brief moment, blowing out lights, relays, conduits. Like before, everything went dark and ceased working. Backup for internal communication, gravity and environmental controls remain. But this time, a few moments before the core overloaded, shadows seen in the corner of one's eye. She could very well be right and Lea didn't like the idea of moving the children now, not until they knew more. But then the lights went out again. Evekh let out a startled cry, quickly stifled. Kyo was already headed for the children with plates of food in his hands, but he lengthened his stride so it only took him a couple of steps to reach them. Before he could kneel down, though, there was a loud pop and a bright flash against one wall, almost opposite where the other fire had been, and suddenly a bed of flowers was ablaze. Kyo swore in Bajoran and dropped the food on the ground. He raced to the fire extinguisher and oxygen mask and across the park to battle the flames. This fire was already bigger than the other, many more plants being right around where the EPS relay blew.

Saya didn't know why her internal voice was so calm. She tried to blink her eyes and see her assistant chief as he picked her up in strong arms. Chief, stop trying to blink. You'll make it worse. Saya could hear him better now, and his voice was calming as he carried her somewhere. Her office, she realized, as he set her carefully in her familiar chair. Some banging and shouting, then a cool, damp cloth was being laid over her eyes. George pressed her shoulder, then was out of the office and yelling orders to the other engineers.

| Security Office -> Blue Beta || lt. Sven Aune |Sven shook his head. "If you think gutting Sorrin is the best way to go about that, Kova, you're more than welcome to try. But I both think you know what the consequences would be." he said flexing his fingers. Neme had done a really good patch up job and he was thankful for the pain killers. "Look. I know you're not science, but maybe there is something on the medical side of science you can find? I donno. I'm in the....Just then lights swelled in intensity, exploded as the power overloaded again and everyone was bathed once again in darkness. "...dark." he rolled his eyes, though nobody could see it. He took a hold of a hand torch and flipped the switch. A beam of light erupted. "Everyone to Blue Beta." he said trying to stand. He took a hold of the bulkhead and pulled himself up and started to make his way to the bar. A few moments later they had arrived. [ Ensign Neme, Medical (bio) | Promenade, Blue Beta ]Neme had begun to comply with Lieutenant's orders-disguised-as-a-suggestion but the station powered down again. Once again, nearly absolute darkness. Shouts rang out from all over the promenade but nothing that sounded like more than frustration or surprise. Neme let their arm fall to their side and massaged the bridge of their nose. Flashlight on, tricorder up, Neme trailed after the security office group back towards the Blue Beta. Neme took their time, trying to stay on the edge, trying to resentfully recreate the conditions where they'd last seen the shadow. Slowly panning the flashlight, tuning into the peripheral vision, ready for the flicker of something that didn't belong. [ Kova Sh'qaleq - Security Office --> Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] It seemed like such a righteous exodus. Escape to the Blue Beta Bar... regroup... and help set the world that was this station right once more. And right at the pinnacle of Sven's speech, fate said: Let their be darkness once more. Their moment of illumination vanished, leaving them at the mercy of the dark ages yet again. A frustrated sigh left Kova's lips. This always happened with humans. Their love for their own voices allowed the moment to pass. If their oxygen was limited, it was almost a certainty that they'd suffocate due to conversation. While packing up what she could, Kova collected a few other things. She sensed something move around her. Her head snapped in that direction, her antennae leaning forward and then recoiling back. She collected all that she could and them moved to follow the Vulcan that slowly led the way to the Blue Beta Bar. Kova found herself instantly annoyed at the pace. How hard was this? Everyone just follow the light. Perhaps she thought shadow people would up and snatch them up one by one. Well, moving slower than an ice-bore[fn]worms native to Andoria that generate heat and dwell in ice caves[/fn] was a perfect way for that to happen. Once they finally made it to the Blue Beta Bar, Kova sought out an empty table. She set her items down, her head snapping to the side as she noticed one of those shadow things once more. Why? Why were they there? Assuming they weren't figments of their collective imaginations. One thing was certain, they didn't care for light. And perhaps, their presence wasn't a coincidence with all these outages. "Hey, quick question: Do your shadow people actually talk? And if so, please tell me they aren't trying to trade souffle recipes."

|Science Lab || Alice Duff|Alice grinned, she was having fun despite their circumstances. But he playful demeanor changed when Shvaan suggested they weren't along. "What do you mean?" she wasn't afraid of being caught being flirty. No, that was just how she was. She was concerned about the spooky unknown. [ Shavan Th’zhaar - Science Lab] Maybe he should have been more concerned with the fact that Alice didn’t see anything, but Shavan was starting to learn that weirdness was normal around here. And suddenly he thought he saw it again- a few shadowy figures running by, not toward Shavan and Alice but instead moving around some sort of object. “Don’t look for them. Try to just stare into space for a minute.” He watched Alice, waiting for her reaction to seeing the shadows. “The sensors can’t detect them either.”He wasn’t foolish enough to dismiss the possibility that they were hostile. And then the power went out again. The timing couldn’t be ignored. Shavan still couldn’t figure out why the invaders, if thats what they were, didn’t generate any energy signs at all. Or how they were able to respond to being observed. Unless the shadows were always there, but their brains, and maybe even the computers could not process looking at them. |Blue Beta || Opal |Opal was pleased to see Seamus. "Hello, she greeted sliding into the bar followed by a group of people she gathered from the promanade. She introduced T'Laara. "This is T'Laara. I hope you don't mind. We brought some of my crystals from the shop. Who knows if power will go out again. She moved to the bar. "Is there anything we can help with? There's a lot of concerned people. And I haven't heard anything from command or engineering. Whatever this is, it's pretty serious." [ Seamus & Jack - Blue Beta] " Thank you, they'll definitely be useful if it does and welcome to the Blue Beta, T'Laara" Seamus replied warmly to Opal's introduction and the extra light sources that they had brought with them, which would certainly make things a little more brighter alongside what they had left on and around the tables. When Opal also asked if they needed help and mentioned not only the concerned people, but also commented on the situation. Seamus appreciated the offer and could understand her thoughts on the matter. " I think we've got it covered and I imagine there will be as I agree this is definitely serious".Meanwhile Jack listened as Xander and Sherry explained what had caused them both to freak out and it wasn't too much of a surprise when they confirmed that it was the shadows again. Although that didn't stop the shiver going down his spine, before Sherry then insulted Opal, which had Jack look at her. " I suggest that you apologise Sherry, that's Opal our Horta friend who runs the Shining Quartz on the Promenade".Whether or not Sherry saw heard or not was another matter as the power went out again, leaving them in almost darkness, before the solar lights began to shine. " Okay everyone, stay calm, lets get more lights going". [ T’Laara - Blue Beta] “Thank you for your hospitality. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” T’Laara responded flatly to the human waiter as they were introduced. She walked toward a table to examine the offered food. She was not pleased to meet the woman sitting at the bar, and wondered just how many similar reactions she would witness if she continued to spend time around Opal. She narrowed her eyes but did not interfere. The power went out again, and she was left holding a slice of pizza while the crystal glowed, illuminating it and her face from beneath with pale blue light. With nothing else to do but wait for this situation to be resolved, she found an empty seat and watched as a few more people entered the bar. Tag Sven Aune , Leanna Mazal

|Security office, Promenade || lt. Sven Aune |Sven turned his hand over as the medic worked on it. At least he didn't have a concussion. That was good despite having had his head slammed earlier. And he was glad for the anesthetic. He looked between Neme and Bremmer. They have been seeing them too. It wasn't just him. "Yes, Kova, tell them that we have been getting reports of shadows around the promenade." it was such a strange thing, but at least he knew he wasn't crazy. "And can you access internal sensors to see if there has been any unusual readings?"He turned his attention to Bremmer. "Have you ever been trapped in a small confined space with a Vulcan and Andorian hashing out old wounds? No? Then I wouldn't be so hasty to criticize decisions to get away from them." He paused. "Right now, I don't think the security office is the best place. Not with blown relays, a down EPS and a wrecked door. I wonder if Lea would let us set up a small redoubt in the Blue Beta. Bremmer, I'm setting you in charge of checking up on all of the establishments on the promenade. Make sure the shop keepers are safe and there is no looting. Stay in contact with Neme if you need a medic. Meet back up at the Blue Beta"His attention than turned to Neme "Unless there is some sort of hallucinogenic being pumped into the environmental controls, or we're infected with some sort of virus, I'd say something is defiantly up. Neme, can you see if you can get a reading with a medical tricorder? A life sign. Anything?" If there were more reports of people seeing shadows, then said reports needed to be collected and collated and sent to science and ops for any kind of correlation. "Kova take everything you're going to need. We're moving to the Blue Beta for the time being." [ Kova Sh'qaleq - Security Office, Promenade, Front Ear Station] It was official. Kova was the only sane one in the room. Clearly the physiology of the pink-skins and the pointy-eared doctor were inferior to the robust Andorian genome. Nevertheless, Kova did as she was told and informed the Ops of their discovery. She just hoped they knew who to put in the straight jackets when they finally arrived. =/\= "Security to Ops. Several members of the crew here have witnessed what they believe to be... shadow people out of the corners of their eyes," =/\= Kova reported. She was more than prepared to give names if they were requested. Her attention shifted to Sven's additional request to survey the internal for anything unusual. That would be easy enough. All she had to do was focus on their brains. Kova overheard Sven explain to Bremmer that his decision to feed power directly into the door resulted from Kova's squabble with Sorrin. "Grant the Ushaan-tor, and that problem will be solved permanently," Kova stated flatly. It didn't take long before it was announced that they were relocating to the Blue Beta Bar. After being asked to collect what she needed, the Andorian shrugged. "That shouldn't be a problem," she said. "By the time we set up over their, this program should be finished compiling the multi-spectral scans from the sens--" The Andorian's antennae curled as her head quickly snapped to the left. For only a moment, it felt as if something... no someone was there. The revelation then began to wash over the Andorian as she scoffed slightly, realizing that she too was now infected. "Aw, dammit!" Kova was still hard-pressed to confess what she had sensed, less the pointy-eared quack want to poke and prod at her with tricorder and hyposprays. /!\ WARNING /!\Just as Engineering was getting things under control, the reactor went critical again. For no apparent reason or explanation the massive life giving machine spiked in energy, overloaded and blew. Slowly panning the flashlight, tuning into the peripheral vision, ready for the flicker of something that didn't belong. [ Cwm Eliska Bremmer - Security Office ]
Ooooh, right, Bremmer chided herself; Andorian, the other blue species. She should've known that... And apparently, they didn't get along well with Vulcans. According to Lieutenant Aune there were old wounds being picked at. Now, if those were personal, a crisis was hardly the time to deal with those. If they had to do with getting along with a Vulcan, period? Well, that was hardly a surprise. Even enlisted training drew a number of Vulcans, and saying they were prickly could be considered exceedingly charitable. And then, there came orders: check the stores along the Promenade, and make sure everyone is all right. That was the sort of task she could wrap her head around. Moving shadows, massive system failures, those were beyond her scope of expertise and knowledge. But boots-on-the-deck security work? Perfect. "Aye Sir, on it," she briskly responded before heading out of the wrecked Security office at a jog, taking advantage of the lights being back online to move faster, and check on on the occupied businesses faster. She had been just about halfway around the current level when the lights seemed to grow in intensity, and the background noise of the station operating as it should rose in pitch until, once again, total pandemonium hit. Many lights that had been spared the initial surge had not been so lucky and erupted in showers of sparks and glass; consoles blew out, and the whole stations shuddered under her feet as it all became pitch-black again. Reaching for her light, Eliska wasted little time in getting her bearings, and she considered her options. Keep going around, or... instead she just called out, using her very voice rather than any technical means. "Listen up! Anyone trapped or hurt so much you can't move, sing out! If you're not, make your way to the Blue Beta! Nice and steady and following the bulkhead with your hand the whole way there, but move with a sense of urgency! There's security, light, and medical personnel there. Now move!"Well, that wasn't technically a book response, but she'd yet to find a book that spoke of widespread power failures that would incapacitate a whole Starbase... And as the people started making their way towards the bar, so did she, and she made her way to Lieutenant Aune. "Change of plans, Sir, I'm sending everyone here, easier to keep folk safe if they're all in one place. So... what now?"

Their light casting about for.....the shadows. They would catch glimpses of them when they didn't focus on them. And they all seemed to be working. From what they saw, were a number of shadow boxes that they were crowding about. Some were moving towards and away and they seemed panic stricken. It was as if they were watching an old shadow box play. The arrangement of the boxes.... there was a pattern to it. It didn't take too long for Neme to figure it out. It was very reminiscent of a bridge of some sort of ship! Tag Kaya Som | Security Office -> Blue Beta || lt. Sven Aune |Sven shook his head. "If you think gutting Sorrin is the best way to go about that, Kova, you're more than welcome to try. But I both think you know what the consequences would be." he said flexing his fingers.

So... what now?"

[ Leanna & Ariana - Park, Deck 6] Once in the grip of a telepathic conversation, even if it appeared to be one sided for the moment, all outside noise and interferences became distant as Leanna continued her attempt to reach the shadows. However there was no ignoring the fire that erupted from another blown EPS conduit as it danced in front of her unusually darker irises, before Kyo went off to tackle it. She also heard the conversation between Max and Judy but again that felt as though they were miles away from where she was now, especially when it became apparent that this attempt would be much harder than she thought. Of course it was a little frustrating for them not to say anything back to her or perhaps they couldn't. Although she was able to sense their fear mixed with a purpose, before it spiked into panic and was that confusion?. Whatever it was she couldn't determine if it was them or the station, which seemed strange. But then just when she thought she would have to tell the others that she had failed. There was a brief moment of insight that she tried to cling on to .. but then it went leaving her with more questions as she forced herself to return to reality. Seeing Max and Judy lead the children away, she grabbed hold of Aven's stroller and followed as Max then asked where they went from here and she shared what she had learned. " Somewhere close maybe and within easy reach ... but as for the shadows, all I was able to get was a feeling of panic and confusion. I think they have a problem of their own and it's not going too well ..........".Lea paused as an idea came to her. " What if this was some kind of accident and it's affected us just as much as it has them?" she surmised as she reached out once more. Can we help you?***************** [ Seamus & Jack - Blue Beta] Seamus smiled as T'Laara returned his greeting, before the bar continued to fill up, this time with Sven and a couple of security officers that the Irishman had seen around the station. Of course they had been prepared for this and as light continued to illuminate the dining area and bar, hoped that everyone would at least be comfortable until the power returned once more. Although that didn't stop him from overhearing Xander tell Sven that he was thinking about leaving the station which would definitely be a sad day if he did. As for Jack, he still wasn't impressed as Sherry ignored him and refused to apologise about the comment she had made towards Opal. Deciding that the comments she made about Sven and the new arrivals and the way she looked at Kova, that it wasn't worth the risk to give her a piece of his mind. So instead he nodded and went off to refill her glass, returning moments later with a fresh drink, then left to help Seamus.

[Deck 21 - Emergency Batteries] K'Dex watched as his sole light source moved as he turned his body, trying to understand. The batteries were getting quite warm, warm enough that K'Dex could feel the heat in the air. Not a lot, as there was a lot of air in this enclosed space, but the fact that the air was heating up at all while power was shutdown was not normal. Add that to the few conduits he spotted in the area that had blown out, mostly minor ones which, surprise surprise, also fed most of the diagnostic equipment in the area, and he was quite concerned. |Deck 21, Emergency Batteries J-Tube ||PO-01 Mary Spiesman |Commander Eastman managed to get a station wide announcement out to everyone. Something catastrophic had happened to the station's power and the heat rising off the batteries was evident of that. As the large Caitain made his way along the catwalk, there was a soft banging coming from a hatch that echoed all about him. In between the ringing hits a small muffled voice could be heard. "Help! I'm trapped!" she said hysterically. The only light she had was from her tricorder, as she didn't think to bring a utility pack with her before the crisis hit. She was taking scans of a relay further up the line in an effort to gather data for more efficient power transfer.. Tag K'Dex K'Dex snapped his head up, trying to pin the noise. "I'm Here! Keep Shouting!" K'Dex uncharacteristically roared out, quickly pacing about to try and pin down the noise. He found it coming from a hatch into the ceiling, and he reached up, his taller height letting his claws just reach far enough to pop the cover on the drop ladder. It hit the catwalk he was on with loud clang, and he climbed up. He stretched out to the side of the hatch, and began to turn the manual override on the hatch. As it inched open, he helped the PO down the ladder to the catwalk. "I have just the one light, so stay close." He said, as he considered. "These batteries are still pulling energy somehow. We'll need to shut off the EPS trunk lines in this section, which will take forever manually." He said, glancing his head back and forth, examining their current position on the crosswalk. He slowed short, thinking he'd seen something. It was just a flicker he assured himself. "The closest emergency supplies will be at the main control panel for these batteries. It's a few J Tubes away, this way." He said, before slowly moving away. He made sure to twitch his tail rapidly, knowing his dark color would make his shape disappear if not for the flashlight on his shoulder, leading the way. [ Chief Ozu Saya - Main Engineering] Saya was getting tired of the little flickers of movement at the corners of her vision. It was distracting and made her keep losing her spot in the code. Finally, she'd gone through enough of the important elements to be reasonably confident that they could power up the core without blowing them to smithereens. Finishing her bottle of water, Saya stood and stretched, then headed out to the power core. She'd have to manually begin the start-up sequence since the computer consoles didn't work, but that wasn't difficult. This would be her first time trying it, though. I'm going to manually start up the power core, she called as she pulled off a panel on the side of the core housing. Stand ready for...well, anything - fires, outages. And someone get right on the computer and get me all the data you can from just before the power went down.Pausing a moment, she tapped her combadge, =/\= Ozu to Eastman. As far as we can tell, there's nothing wrong with the power core. I'm about to manually power it up. =/\= She reached inside the panel and checked the relays before flipping the switch. Wouldn't do to have the power core take damage because the relays were damaged from the earlier power failure. All over the station, lights came on, though they were dim, and computer consoles lit up. The power core showed full power, but all the blown relays meant that some areas of the station didn't recover.
Tag Judith Eastman , soft tags to everyone else K'Dex stopped short in the J Tube as he heard a slightly ping of his PADD reconnecting, and he heard a few distant consoles boot up. He swung the pouch around and yanked out the PADD. "Computer, close all EPS Trunk lines beginning from deck 21 set for emergency power. And send an environmental status to engineering for Deck 21." "Emergency Trunk Lines closed. Unable to send status. Diagnostic equipment non-functional." K'Dex almost pawed his own face in his forgetfulness at what had concerned him at the beginning of entering again. He turned to the PO following him "It's fine, just need to get to Engineering."They quickly made it to the control area for the Emergency Batteries. K'Dex clawed open the emergency locker under the consoles, and passed a wrist light to the other PO. "Unless you have somewhere else to go, we can climb down to Engineering, just 2 decks down. Should avoid the turbolifts." He said, before making his way to the main ladder down. /!\ WARNING /!\Just as Engineering was getting things under control, the reactor went critical again. Until they weren't. Then he felt uncomfortable again, and stopped for a moment to click his shoulder light on again. He was about to continue stepping down, until he saw a small shadow cross right in front of him. He shook his head, wondering if his light was failing on him. Either that, or the flicker was from odd light angle in the cramped quarters. K'Dex stopped as they came to the side hatch that would dump them on the upper level of Main Engineering.
[ Chief Ozu Saya - Main Engineering] The shadows Saya was watching suddenly appeared to be frantic, and before she could do anything more than pause her forward momentum, the power core went critical. A bright flash half-blinded her, then her face felt like it was on fire. With a pained cry, she scrambled backwards on feet and one hand, crab-fashion, while the other reached for her face. There was shouting around her, but her ears were ringing too loudly for her to make anything out. ...ief! Don't touch it. Leave it alone! someone was shouting at her. =/\= Engineering to sickbay, medical emergency! Get someone here as soon as you can. =/\= George, it was George's voice. She'd never heard him so frantic, except about his wife. But they'd served together for a long time. It must be bad for him to be reacting so strongly. [Deck 23, Main Engineering] K'Dex had just cracked the hatch open when an odd smell of burnt materials wafted out to him. Obviously, they'd been having a lot of interesting things happening here. He curled up and rolled onto the upper level of Main Engineering, and made his way down, spotting the main officer yelling orders, the assistant Chief. "Lieutenant! I've shut off the EPS lines from deck 21, something was heating up the batteries with a short somehow, even with the system down for diagnostics. What do you need from me?" He happened to glance to the office behind the Lt, and glimpsed a burned Chief Engineer, and reacted without thinking with a short hiss.

"I think I saw one." she said. "It was there then I looked at it and it was gone." she didn't seem to happy. "And sensors can't pick them up?"She sat close to the male, "It's all too strange. Either everyone in hallucinating, of these shadow things are from the dimension of weird." [ Shavan Th’zhaar - Science Lab] Shavan had thought it would be better to try to show her than explain that he was seeing shadow people, and sure enough, Alice finally saw something. “That’s right.” He didn’t think they were hallucinating. And while he doubted there was such thing as a dimension of weird (unless that was where Alice was from), the shadows could very well be from another universe, time, or dimension partially intersecting with their own. That could explain why they appeared as shadows, and why the sensors didn’t detect them- they didn’t actually exist here. And the mechanics of their universe might not apply. Shavan took a deep breath and ran a hand through his hair again. This was, as Alice had put it, all too strange. He remembered something else. The energy readings he had seen right before this all started hadn’t made sense out of context, but were consistent with subspace anomalies. Which in the right place could have interfered with the power core. “I think they probably are from another dimension. And the cause of this.” he said after a pause, and gestured to the darkness around them. But they couldn’t deal with this alone. Shavan reached for his comm badge again, since he had told Mabel he’d keep her, and therefore the commander informed of any new developments. Which this probably counted as. =/\= Science Lab to Henriksen. I have a theory. We’ve been seeing glimpses of these shadows that look like people, I think they’re in a subdimension caught intersecting with our own in the same point in space. And that intersection in the power core caused the overload. We're having trouble sensing them because their space hasn't, or can't fully connect with ours. Has anyone found out anything else? =/\= Tag Sven Aune , Judith Eastman

[ Leanna & Ariana - Park, Deck 6] Lea could understand both Kyo's tense tone and his concern for the children, especially with these shadows being a complete unknown in terms of friendliness and their actions so far. In fact the Betazoid was still trying to comprehend what their intentions were, even from detecting their mild telepathic ability until she could attempt to communicate with them. That seemed the next logical step as Judy answered a call from Security, before sharing with them that they weren't safe anywhere, especially if the shadows were responsible for their current predicament. She could very well be right and Lea didn't like the idea of moving the children now, not until they knew more. " I agree, we're better off staying put until we can learn more" Lea added, before Judy turned to her and suggested that her message to the shadows should be simple, telling them that they meant well and understood the reasoning behind it, since they didn't know anything about them. " Good idea" she replied as Max came up with a way to distract the children, something that was a hit with Ariana as she stood. " Yes please Max".With Ari successfully distracted, Lea could focus on sending the message, that was until the power went out again, which only added to the pressure as she reached out to them telepathically.

He trusted her even with their child's life, and he knew Lea would do everything she could to put the shadowy visitors at ease. To keep himself busy, Kyo went to help Max bring the kids more food.

"Kids, let's go to the entrance," she directed. "Everything will be fine."Max, without needing any verbal cues, scooped Benny up into his stroller and began to wheel it away. Judy shepherded the ambulatory children, while leaving Aven to Lea. "How do we go from here?" Max asked, not sure if to head up towards the XO's quarters, or down to the Bar.

He could also understand how Saya had come away earlier looking like she'd been out in the sun too long - the plasma burned hot. He glanced over his shoulder to see Judy, Max and Lea herding the children toward the turbolift; Evekh was going, but looking back in his father's direction. Kyo knew he must be well-silhouetted against the fire. And then the fire extinguisher sputtered and ran out of foam. With a curse, he turned from the fire and ran toward the others. There was no point in staying; without the extinguisher, the fire was going to consume at least a good section of the park. They needed out now. Rushing up, Kyo scooped up Evekh and put him quickly over his shoulders. Evekh, listen to me carefully. Put your arms around my neck and hold on as tight as you can.

I've shut off the EPS lines from deck 21, something was heating up the batteries with a short somehow, even with the system down for diagnostics. What do you need from me?" At least her hearing was coming back, not that there was anything good to hear - fire, people shouting, a strange hissing sound. Meanwhile, Lt. George Hugo used his loud, deep voice to good effect, bringing the frantic engineers under control and dispatching them, well, everywhere, really. There were still calls coming in from all over the station, more now since the power had gone out again. He paused when the Caitian approached and took a moment for a breath. The smoke billowing from one fire that wasn't quite out was making him hoarse. Good, the assistant chief said shortly, acknowledging K'Dex's report. Pick a fire, any fire, he added with a wry twist of his lips. Until we can get them all out, we can't really do any kind of repairs. And I think the power core is probably down for the count. At this point, the greatest danger is these fires spreading to undamaged EPS conduits, if there are any undamaged.

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Science Lab] Shavan had thought it would be better to try to show her than explain that he was seeing shadow people, and sure enough, Alice finally saw something. =/\= [NPC - Ens. Mabel Henriksen - First Officer's Quarters]Mabel listened to the Scientist, and became aware that the decision curve had been mangled badly here. =A= "Let me connect you with Commander Eastman," =A= she said, and then added the XO to the comm line, making it a group comm. =A= "Commander, you're on with Lt. She also heard the conversation between Max and Judy but again that felt as though they were miles away from where she was now, especially when it became apparent that this attempt would be much harder than she thought. Of course it was a little frustrating for them not to say anything back to her or perhaps they couldn't. Lieutenant, we have potential telepathic communication with these beings, so I think we can try to relay that theory to them. Keep working at it, particularly on disentangling us," =A= she told the scientist. This freed her to instruct Lea. "Science thinks these Shadows and us are beings in different sub-dimensions, and we somehow got tangled up together," she said. Max commented on the matter of getting out. He'd spent some time in space as a boy, so he had some experience. "I think going up with the kids will be safer than down, in two rounds. You, Lea, and I can each carry one child, and Michael can take the tube on his own," he pitched. Judy intervened. "Let's do it this way: you two gentlemen take Helen and Evekh for round 1, up to our quarters. Michael will come too, and I'll follow to catch anyone that might slip. For the second round, we'll conscript Mabel or Thomas," she directed. "I want to save Lea's strength for the telepathy, as much as we can."Where a lesser man might feel overshadowed by his wife stepping in on his planning process, Max admired it.

Again, it was difficult to tell, they were very alien in nature, but the general feeling was that of panic on their part. Something catastrophic happened.

She followed him through the tubes, and she nodded when K'Dex explained why it had been so hot. Something serious was going on. And it wasn't until she hit engineering that she understood the severity of it. Several fires were burning and a large man in gold was shouting orders. She wasn't a fire fighter per say, but she did have basic training in the use and operation of an plasma extinguisher. She thanked K'Dex with a hug then hurried off to one of the fires. She pulled the trigger and began to sweep the fire as others around here were doing. "What in the world happened here?" Tags K'DexOzu Saya|Science Lab || Alice Duff | "Them, what do you mean them?" And while he doubted there was such thing as a dimension of weird (unless that was where Alice was from), the shadows could very well be from another universe, time, or dimension partially intersecting with their own. That could explain why they appeared as shadows, and why the sensors didn’t detect them- they didn’t actually exist here. And the mechanics of their universe might not apply. He looked back to Alice. “They’re not two-dimensional, but maybe it's a little like an onion.” Shavan smiled again. Despite the danger to the station if things didn’t go back to normal soon, it was actually a very interesting phenomenon. As for the question of stopping it.. “Sure we will.” he said with a little more confidence than he felt. If he knew how to just open an inter-dimensional rift, he wouldn’t still be sitting here in this one. “But we’ll have to see if the telepathic contact gets anywhere. These shadows could've been the ones to do this.” Communication with the beings on the other side could be crucial to solving this. In the meantime it would probably be best to try to figure out what had actually caused the situation, so they could try to reverse it. Given the lack of anything unusual on the station earlier it could have started on the shadow people’s side, and Front Ear just happened to be in the right place to connect with them. [ Leanna & Ariana - Park, Deck 6] Sometimes it was difficult to maintain a grip on reality and what was happening around her, which was something that Leanna was currently struggling with, as she became torn between the link with the Shadows and those with her. However the Betazoid was aware of Kyo joining them, a call from someone familiar and a plan being discussed as to how they were going to move the children to a more safer location than the park. Of course Ariana and Aven were her top priority but as she heard Judy mention her name and how she wanted to save Lea's strength for the telepathy, it became more than just her family of three. Lea appreciated the faith that had been instilled in her to be successful, although any verbal recognition would have to wait as the Shadows stole her attention once more. They were definitely alien in nature, even if she couldn't quite make them out, perhaps proving the theory of them not existing in this particular reality. But one thing was certain and that was the almost overwhelming feeling of panic that hadn't gone away since she first attempted contact with them. But then as she focused more, things began to change, allowing her to see an outline of .. was that a vessel?. If it was then it looked rather large, like a container and now she understood why they were so concerned. Although nothing could quite prepare her for what happened next as one of them seemed to grow brighter and move towards her, where it started to flash. " They're concerned about a ship and wait .... I'm seeing flashes, it might be some kind of pattern if someone recognises it .. 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 and 17, it keeps repeating and if you don't look directly at them, you might see it too" she said aloud, once she realised what they were trying to do and hoped that the others might have an idea what it meant.

Can we help you?[ Domen Kyo - Park] Kyo could tell within a few seconds that the little fire extinguisher wasn't going to make much of a difference on this blaze.
Give me one of the other little kids. I can hold them in one arm. Three toddlers, two infants and a six-year-old. They didn't have enough arms. Wait, he said, thinking things through. Judy, do you think we have time to make a couple of trips? Lea and I can get a couple of decks down, then come back for the rest of the kids. We can do this a couple of decks at a time to get wherever we need to go. He eyed the fire on the far side of the park. [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams), Max Williams, & Grandchildren - Park]Judy shook her head, as the situation here at the Park and that over the comm collided to demand her brainpower. =A= "Thank you, Mabel.

With a nod, he gave his son a small tug. Come back around, and Evekh climbed monkey-fashion to the front of Kyo's body where Kyo wrapped an arm tightly around him. Okay, let's get moving, then. Though, should we- Kyo paused as Lea called out a series of numbers. His brow wrinkled and he said, That's the first few prime numbers. Maybe they're trying to communicate with us.There was no delaying, as the fire was starting to spread away from the wall. Kyo stepped into the shaft and cautioned Evekh, I need you to hold onto my neck as tight as you can and put your legs around me, too. We have to go up a ladder really fast.Okay, Daddy. And he wrapped arms and legs around Kyo and tucked his face into his father's neck.
