|Promenade -> Blue Beta || Unknown entities, figments of imagination |Neme walked along the dark, quiet promenade. Their light casting about for.....the shadows. They would catch glimpses of them when they didn't focus on them. And they all seemed to be working. From what they saw, were a number of shadow boxes that they were crowding about. Some were moving towards and away and they seemed panic stricken. It was as if they were watching an old shadow box play. The arrangement of the boxes.... there was a pattern to it. It didn't take too long for Neme to figure it out. It was very reminiscent of a bridge of some sort of ship! [...] |Promenade, Blue Beta bar and grill || Sven Aune | Xander | Sherry X. |Sherry huffed and turned away from the Horta. She wasn't about to apologies. No, women of her status and class are never wrong. "Refill." she said with a air of haughtiness. As Sven entered into the the bar followed by the exodus from security. The number of gold shirts was....not exactly comforting. "Looks like your station command had finally decided to do something about this mess."Kova had found a reclusive table, and Sherry's eyes followed her. She scoffed again. Sven spoke to Eliska, "We need to certain if these shadows are a threat. And given that they are around and seemingly causing the blackouts, we need to find a way to neutralize it. But for now, keep people safe, and prevent rioting." he ordered to her. "People get funny when they are under duress."He spotted Xander sitting at the bar looking stricken. He gave the man a hug, and Xander just smiled patting Sven on the arm. "I don't think I'm going to stay here on this station." he said simply. Sven felt the rug pulled out from under him. But now was not the time to get into it. He nodded and returned to his duties. He walked over to Kova. "Once you set up, see if you can find anything in the logs. Anything strange and out of the ordinary." [ Seamus & Jack - Blue Beta] Seamus smiled as T'Laara returned his greeting, before the bar continued to fill up, this time with Sven and a couple of security officers that the Irishman had seen around the station. Of course they had been prepared for this and as light continued to illuminate the dining area and bar, hoped that everyone would at least be comfortable until the power returned once more. Although that didn't stop him from overhearing Xander tell Sven that he was thinking about leaving the station which would definitely be a sad day if he did. As for Jack, he still wasn't impressed as Sherry ignored him and refused to apologise about the comment she had made towards Opal. Deciding that the comments she made about Sven and the new arrivals and the way she looked at Kova, that it wasn't worth the risk to give her a piece of his mind. So instead he nodded and went off to refill her glass, returning moments later with a fresh drink, then left to help Seamus. |Blue Beta Bar and Grill || Xander | Sherry X. |Sherry took her glass and went back to being a general snob. The bar was filling up and she watched the security personnel set up their redoubt. "I thought they were engineers." she said taking a drink. "What, security doesn't have an office or something?" she crossed her legs. Xander walked behind the counter and filled glasses of water. He felt bad for speaking out so rashly. But the last few months have been the most wild, and quite frankly, dangerous he'd ever been in. Front Ear station seemed to be a magnet for all sorts of trouble. He sighed. Walked over to Sven and gave him a hug. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. Not here, not now." handing a glass to the large man. "You're hand is black." he observed. Sven nodded and gave him the same answer he gave Bremmer. Xander then went to Kova and offer her a glass of water. [ Cwm Eliska Bremmer - Blue Beta Bar]
Just as she'd given her report to her boss and she was given her instructions, Bremmer nodded. There wasn't a whole lot she could be doing other than try to keep folk from losing it to the stress... and dealing with those who'd lost it. "Can't do much for those shadows, boss, but I'll try and keep folk, calm," she replied. Of course, that sort of acknowledgement wouldn't fly on the Bridge of a starship, or even in Ops over on the station. But within Security? Well there were a certain degree of familiarity that seemed to be tolerated, so long as the job got done. And, well, she knew that finding out the deep hows and whys of things weren't her cup of tea; she was the person who got pointed at a task to get it done once the left and right of arc were defined. However, she'd been just about to leave when she heard a much smaller man (not that it was such an accurate way to describe people around Lieutenant Aune) say he was considering leaving the Station. And while Aune returned his attention to his work with a nod, there was something to it that really didn't look like he was entirely all right with the notion. Though, while she had work to do, Eliska tapped the much larger man on the shoulder before she moved on towards the crowd to let them know that there was at least some semblance of control in place. And along the way, she overheard the woman at the bar, speaking of the fact Security we setting up shop in the bar. "Ma'am, in case you've failed to notice, there's a bit of an emergency going on, and we have people gathering in here so we can be as certain as possible everyone is safe. Where would you rather we be? Out of here in our office, or in here, with people who are scared and think that getting sloshed in an emergency is a good idea?"And, with that addressed, Eliska had a thought and made her way to the bar itself, where she flagged the staff. "Folks, I don't think it's too good an idea to keep slinging booze. This goes on much longer, folk could get really irrational and no one wants that. Maybe switching to synthehol might be an idea."

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] Once again, Kova had orders. Perhaps Sven's estimation of her abilities had improved as what he was asking for wouldn't be easy. Of course, Kova had a bit of a workaround, or so she believed. She set her personal computer down, and from a carrying back produced a cable and a tricorder that she had collected before leaving the security office. She connected the device to her computer, and began tapping away. She was writing code to program the tricorder, while at the same time attempted to defrag the sensor data she had been downloaded before the grid failed once again. It seemed that something stood out, though Kova thought it best to check for herself. As the computer continued to defrag the data, the Andorian's eyes inventoried the room. It was becoming more crowded, but she also caught the glance of someone upon her. A woman... red dress... clearly high maintenance. She had probably stumbled in here hoping to grab the attention of some guy whose pants were weighed down by latinum. Unfortunately for her, she had missed the pleasure planets by quite a few light years. Just hearing her scoff and complain about engineers made it official. If they needed to toss a body out of the airlock to preserve oxygen, she'd be the first to go. There was also the sound of Bremmer trying to stop the flow of booze. Not that it'd be Kova's choice, but the others may vote her as a close second. "57%? That's it?" Kova mused at the amount of data she had managed to collect. She attempted to review the what had been captured by the logs and internal sensors. Nothing seemed to stand out at first, though when she tried a few additional scans, she found something of interest. "Wait... what are you?" Her eyes examined the numbers and she shook her head. "39.4 decicochranes? That can't be right."Kova double checked the connection between the tricorder an her computer. Satisfied that the connection was sound and that her program was ready, she ran it. The tricorder began to give her some crude readings. She shifted it slightly, moving it from one spot of the table to another. The Andorian's eyes widened as she got additional readings. "104.2 decicochranes. Z'tōk[fn]Andorian swear word, typically used in a bad situation.[/fn]!" The curse was mumbled under her breath. She then heard an unceremonious whine coming from the tricorder. Kova's reflexes kicked in as she simply grabbed the device and then tossed it out the nearest door. Barely a second passed before there was a loud pop! Kova could see eyes upon her as she stepped back into the Blue Beta. She ignored them and moved towards Sven. "We've got a problem," she said lowly, not wanting to instill any additional panic in any eavesdroppers. She gestured for him to step over so that they could have a bit more privacy. "I think the sensors detected elevated accounts of some sort of subspace shear," Kova announced. "From my understanding of warp theory, that's typically not an issue... these days for two reasons. One, warp fields typically protect a vessel from those shears as it moves through space. And two, low levels of concentration."Kova took a deep breath. "The problem is those concentrations are growing in concentration per cubic meter," Kova continued to explain. "In fact, there may be shears aboard the station." Kova was hoping that her tone was telling him that that shouldn't be happening. Kova was officially reaching the extent of pay grade and expertise on the matter. Had she managed to make it an additional semester back at Starfleet Academy, well, perhaps she'd be able to connect the dots to what she'd discovered possibly meant where failure to the power grid was concerned.

[ Leanna & Ariana - Park, Deck 6] Sometimes it was difficult to maintain a grip on reality and what was happening around her, which was something that Leanna was currently struggling with, as she became torn between the link with the Shadows and those with her. However the Betazoid was aware of Kyo joining them, a call from someone familiar and a plan being discussed as to how they were going to move the children to a more safer location than the park. Of course Ariana and Aven were her top priority but as she heard Judy mention her name and how she wanted to save Lea's strength for the telepathy, it became more than just her family of three. Lea appreciated the faith that had been instilled in her to be successful, although any verbal recognition would have to wait as the Shadows stole her attention once more. They were definitely alien in nature, even if she couldn't quite make them out, perhaps proving the theory of them not existing in this particular reality. But one thing was certain and that was the almost overwhelming feeling of panic that hadn't gone away since she first attempted contact with them. But then as she focused more, things began to change, allowing her to see an outline of .. was that a vessel?. If it was then it looked rather large, like a container and now she understood why they were so concerned. Although nothing could quite prepare her for what happened next as one of them seemed to grow brighter and move towards her, where it started to flash. " They're concerned about a ship and wait .... I'm seeing flashes, it might be some kind of pattern if someone recognises it .. 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 and 17, it keeps repeating and if you don't look directly at them, you might see it too" she said aloud, once she realised what they were trying to do and hoped that the others might have an idea what it meant.
tag Sven Aune Judith Eastman Ozu Saya [ Domen Kyo - Park] Kyo listened to Judy and Max discuss the best way to get all the kids to safety, pulling back his arms and wrapping his hands around Evekh´s that were clasped around his throat. With a nod, he gave his son a small tug. Come back around, and Evekh climbed monkey-fashion to the front of Kyo's body where Kyo wrapped an arm tightly around him. Okay, let's get moving, then. Though, should we- Kyo paused as Lea called out a series of numbers. His brow wrinkled and he said, That's the first few prime numbers. Maybe they're trying to communicate with us.There was no delaying, as the fire was starting to spread away from the wall. Kyo stepped into the shaft and cautioned Evekh, I need you to hold onto my neck as tight as you can and put your legs around me, too. We have to go up a ladder really fast.Okay, Daddy. And he wrapped arms and legs around Kyo and tucked his face into his father's neck.
Tag Judith Eastman and Leanna Mazal [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams), Max Williams, & Grandchildren - Park]While Helen climbed onto Max's back and grabbed on, Judy processed the pattern. Prime numbers, that could symbolize a few different things. "Prime numbers are simple, can't really be broken up too many ways. Maybe they're suggesting that we should send simpler messages," she speculated to Lea. "Do you want to try something simple? One flash for yes, two flashes for no?"Judy didn't know what was going on[fn]Her writer doesn't either![/fn] exactly, but she thought she had a good guess. "Are we ready to move?" Max asked of the group that was to climb. "I'm ready!" Michael exclaimed proudly. The quicker they could get everyone away from the park, and the fire, the better.

[NPC - Ens. Mabel Henriksen - First Officer's Quarters]=A= "Let me connect you with Commander Eastman," =A= she said, and then added the XO to the comm line, making it a group comm. =A= "Commander, you're on with Lt. Shavan. He thinks these shadows that have been sighted are being from a sub-dimension that collided with us," =A= the young woman summarized. [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams), Max Williams, & Grandchildren - Park]=A= "Thank you, Mabel. Lieutenant, we have potential telepathic communication with these beings, so I think we can try to relay that theory to them. Keep working at it, particularly on disentangling us," =A= she told the scientist. |Science lab || Alice Duff |"Wait, what?" a look of confusion fell upon her face. "These shadows are from another dimension? Well I mean, they are technically 2 dimensional?" she didn't quite have a grasp of what the Andorian was saying. "Sub-dimensions? That sounds like an onion. You know layers upon layers. But you think their dimension is causing issues with ours?" She sat next to the scientist. She felt useless. But she consoled herself with the fact that if some Klingon busted in intent to stab Shavan with a Bat'leth, she could probably defend him. "You think we can make it all stop?" she asked. [ Shavan Th’zhaar - Science Lab] =/\= Acknowledged, Commander. I’ll work on it and keep you informed. =/\= Shavan replied as he was connected with Commander Eastman. He looked back to Alice. “They’re not two-dimensional, but maybe it's a little like an onion.” Shavan smiled again. Despite the danger to the station if things didn’t go back to normal soon, it was actually a very interesting phenomenon. As for the question of stopping it.. “Sure we will.” he said with a little more confidence than he felt. If he knew how to just open an inter-dimensional rift, he wouldn’t still be sitting here in this one. “But we’ll have to see if the telepathic contact gets anywhere. These shadows could've been the ones to do this.” Communication with the beings on the other side could be crucial to solving this. In the meantime it would probably be best to try to figure out what had actually caused the situation, so they could try to reverse it. Given the lack of anything unusual on the station earlier it could have started on the shadow people’s side, and Front Ear just happened to be in the right place to connect with them. Tag Sven Aune , Judith Eastman |Science Lab || Alice Duff |"As in sabotage?" she asked a bit worried, "But why?" it was a resounding question in the back of her mind, and she was really worried. What if this was a precursor to some sort of invasion fleet? Then she saw another shadow out of the corner of her eye. It's outline began to flash in a pattern. "Shavan? Do you see it?" she said pointing at a blank spot on the wall. Of course, like an election, they cannot be directly observed, "I mean, look there out of the corner of your eye."
And so it was, a pattern of flashing, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17. She approached him and spoke in a low tone. A problem has presented itself. "Except, a space station doesn't have warp capability." he said. That didn't make any sense. As he was talking, one of the shadowy figures began to flash as well. In a pattern 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17. It would stop, then start over again. Sven didn't see this as he was focused on Kova, but a few of the patrons noticed and pointed. But once they looked at it, it would vanish. Xander spoke, "One of the shadows is flashing." he relayed the pattern. "Kova, can I barrow you communicator?" he didn't wait for a response. =A= "Eastman-Williams, this is Aune. Our computer expert has noticed something extremely disturbing. There are huge amounts of subspace shears all about the station. And one of the shadows here in the Blue beta started flashing. A pattern. I think it's prime numbers up to 17." =A=+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+/!\ ATTENTION /!\ All throughout the station, A select few of the shadows began to flash the prime numbers. They did so for about 10 minutes. But suddenly, it stopped, and the flashing became a very complex series of flashes, with differing intensities in brightness. It was rapid display and as suddenly as it started, it ended. About 2 minutes later, they would flash the prime numbers, followed by the complex sequence of flash intervals and intensities . Repeated over and over again, but it was always the same. No variation in the complex pattern.

2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 and 17, it keeps repeating and if you don't look directly at them, you might see it too" she said aloud, once she realised what they were trying to do and hoped that the others might have an idea what it meant.
tag Sven Aune Judith Eastman Ozu Saya |The Shadows| The telepathy had done something. The shadows were becoming aware that their shadows, the one's they are seeing are intelligent. That they could communicate in some way. Though it was so alien, so strange to them, the had set up an attempt to communicate in a universal way. Or at least universal to them. Mathematics. The general feeling that was coming from them was one of urgency, and cooperation. They needed something done. Something that only the people on the station could provide. Or maybe do? It wasn't too clear. It had something to do with their power source. It seemed to be in a dance? An entanglement of sorts with some machine in the shadow's shadow's world. Something big that generates vast amounts of energy. Lea's mind was mix of shapes. Like a wave that needed to be inverted on itself. Turned to the side. But the wave wasn't water. Nor was it sound. She may have seen it before. It was the electromagnetic propagation. Tag Thea Baker

[ Leanna & Ariana - Park, Deck 6] As Kyo got Evekh to change to a more easy carrying position and with Ari moving to hold onto her mother's skirt. Lea listened as her Bajoran friend informed them that the flashes were the first few prime numbers and that the shadows might be trying to communicate. That was definitely a possibility the more she thought about it and how their behaviour had changed after she had reached out to them. " It's definitely possible that this is their way to communicate" Lea theorised as Helen climbed onto Max's back, before Judy added her own thoughts about the prime number theory. If the Shadows were wanting them to send something more simpler, then it was definitely worth a try. " I can definitely try that" Lea replied as the first group prepared to move. However when she refocused on sending a simpler message, her mind was suddenly filled with a mixture of shapes, trying to make sense of what they meant. Allowing herself to concentrate and filter it out as her mind attempted to process it all. Was it a wave of some kind but not one she was familiar with like sound or of water crashing against the shore. Yet it seemed to spread out and fold in on itself. " I'm getting shapes from them, almost like some kind of wave ... electromagnetic perhaps .... wait what if the ship/container I saw has something to do with this?".She was by no means a scientist or engineer but that didn't mean that she hadn't taken an interest with what her friends in the fleet did. |deck 6 || Shadows One of the shadows took an interest in Lea. It had moved towards her. And though it was only 2 dimensional, it placed a hand on her. Nothing could be felt. But the gesture was one of peace. There was general distress as a feeling from the shadows. But an image came to her mind. A triangle with a dot. it was replaced with a square, and coming out of the square was that same wave. The wave struck the triangle and the triangle and the square split open slightly. The square dissipated, then reappeared slightly broken open. It "fixed" itself and another wave came from it and struck the triangle opening it more until it was like a U shape. There was great concern, and a feeling of doom. And the shadows that continued to flash did so, with no variation in the complexity of it. Tag Thea Baker

Thankfully, the climb wasn't actually that long, and soon Kyo was stepping into a corridor and loosening Evekh's hold around his neck. You did great, son. [ Leanna & Ariana - Park, Deck 6] At the mention of Judy remaining behind, it occurred to Lea that she had been so in depth with the link to the shadows, that she hadn't realised that she would of ended up on her own and with three of the children to look after. So she was definitely thankful for the suggestion being made as Kyo, Max and the other three children left, before Judy took out a PADD in order to record what Lea knew so far. " Good idea and I will" she replied after Judy told her that any numbers she could get would be useful. So as Judy then put out a call to get them some extra help, the Betazoid prepared to take out the sling so she could carry Aven safely, with him being the youngest. However before she could do that or answer Judy, she became aware of one of the shadows taking an interest in her as it moved towards her and placed a hand on her. Of course she couldn't feel it but she did sense that it was done as a gesture of peace, followed by the feeling of general distress that she had experienced through the link. We'll do what we can to help Lea knew that she might have to reestablish the link once they were out of here and as help arrived, she got the sling and put it on, before carefully placing Aven inside, then spoke to Ari. " Ari, I need you to hold on to whoever is going to carry you okay?"." Yes Mama"." Good girl and we're ready to move".Lea would certainly make it up to her daughter once this was over as well as retrieve the gifts and stroller once it was safe to do so.
tag Sven Aune Judith Eastman Ozu Saya [ Domen Kyo - Deck 3 --> Park] Kyo was swearing silently and making expansive mental promises to add some sort of upper-body workout to his routine by the time he'd made it back to the park where smoke from the fire was starting to drift closer to the turbolift. He cursed aloud when he stepped out of the tube and guiltily realized that he'd forgotten about Alieth. Thankfully, the three-horn was sticking close to the remaining children. Damn, Judy. What about Alieth? Do we have anything we can put her in to carry her? Or, since she has the harness, maybe we can use the leash to make a person harness to hold her? I'm just afraid she's going to struggle and maybe hurt someone accidentally. The fire was definitely getting closer to the point that they would start suffering lung damage from the smoke if they stayed in the park much longer.

Mabel Henriksen [Park -> First Officer's Quarters]After writing down everything Lea had described, Judy addressed their logistics for moving. "Thomas, you take Ari. I see Lea's taking Aven, so Kyo can take Benny. You hold on tight and don't let go, young man," Judy instructed, with particular attention to the toddler. "Okay," Benny answered. "Mabel, come here. We'll strap Alieth to you," Judy ordered her assistant, who complied willingly. Then, Judy fabricated a two-part harness/sling. First, she strapped Alieth to Mabel using the leash. Then, she used a spare tie (Max's) that she carried in her handbag to secure the little three-horn, so that the horns had a minimum chance of colliding with Mabel. Lastly, she slid the handbag's straps onto her arm, ready to move. "Forward, march!" the First Officer directed. After the long climb, the group would reach the First Officer's spacious quarters. The living space was dimly but adequately lit, thanks to a combination of candles and flashlights. Sofas, rugs, and dining chairs provided space aplenty for all to sit, while a large offering of ice cream was laid out on the dining table. Entering the room, Judy gave Max a questioning sideways look, and he automatically knew she was questioning the ice cream. "It would've melted anyway," he defended. "It's not that much," Anna added to her father's defense, considering the six pints of ice cream to be a modest menu. "You don't get to criticize my cheese habit anymore," Judy acquiesced, as she plopped down on the couch and tapped her commbadge. =A= "Eastman to the science labs. Through limited telepathic communication with the beings, they've told us something concerning an electromagnetic wave. This wave could be what got us into this mess, or what'll get us out of it. We don't know for sure. What I do understand from their symbols-based messaging is that if only one entity, either us or them, but not the other, emits this wave, it causes damage. Whether this means we should both do it, or neither should, I do not know. What do you have?" =A= Meanwhile, as Mabel released Alieth, the three-horn was approached by both corgis, excited as the dogs were in this weird day.

[ Chief Ozu Saya and Lt. George Hugo - Main Engineering] Saya sat rigidly in her chair, hands pressed to the top of the desk as she physically restrained herself from reaching for her face to try to assess the damage. She was horribly afraid that her eyes were permanently injured, but knew George had given good advice. It wouldn't help anything to be touching her face. At least her hearing was coming back, not that there was anything good to hear - fire, people shouting, a strange hissing sound. Meanwhile, Lt. George Hugo used his loud, deep voice to good effect, bringing the frantic engineers under control and dispatching them, well, everywhere, really. There were still calls coming in from all over the station, more now since the power had gone out again. He paused when the Caitian approached and took a moment for a breath. The smoke billowing from one fire that wasn't quite out was making him hoarse. Good, the assistant chief said shortly, acknowledging K'Dex's report. Pick a fire, any fire, he added with a wry twist of his lips. Until we can get them all out, we can't really do any kind of repairs. And I think the power core is probably down for the count. At this point, the greatest danger is these fires spreading to undamaged EPS conduits, if there are any undamaged.
Tag K'Dex [Main Engineering] K'Dex nodded at the two, and grabbed one of the copious plasma extinguishers being passed around, and moved to get his lithe body to aim at the fires underneath the plating around the warp core, finding himself still very close to the center of things. And it wasn't until she hit engineering that she understood the severity of it. Several fires were burning and a large man in gold was shouting orders. [Main Engineering] K'Dex listened to the PO he'd found asking what'd happened, while at the same time being distracted by something. "Basically everything exploded. Possibly twice." A flicker on the edge of his vision. As he focused on it, he found that it wasn't the flicker of fire, or the shadow of a fire. But it was a shadow. 3 flashes. 5. 6 this time? It was hard to focus on it with the light in engineering a massive amount of jerking, twisting light sources from each individual person, and the flickers of shadow cast from the fires. He set down the plasma extinguisher he'd been holding, realizing he'd had it spraying way to long at a flame long dead as he was watching the wall. "Lieutenant! Do you see this?" He called out to the assistant chief. He clicked his light off his shoulder, and held it at an angle to the shadow, leaving enough light to highlight the shadow and give it an edge against the other flickering lights, but not enough to be straight on, in case it should disappear.

|Science Lab || Alice Duff |"As in sabotage?" she asked a bit worried, "But why?" it was a resounding question in the back of her mind, and she was really worried.
Then it would stop and repeat itself. /!\ ATTENTION /!\ All throughout the station, A select few of the shadows began to flash the prime numbers. What do you have?" =A= [ Shavan Th’zhaar - Science Lab] Shavan looked up, momentarily confused, before glimpsing a flash of light among the shadows. Alice was right. The flashes seemed to be in a pattern. Counting them, he recognized the sequence of prime numbers. And while he would indeed remain suspicious of sabotage until proven otherwise, he wondered if this was an attempt to communicate using mathematics, the most universal language there was. “I see it. I think they're trying to tell us something.”Then, after the prime numbers had caught their attention, there was a second pattern. Shavan picked up a PADD to try to write down what he saw of it, as this one was much more complicated. Which meant it might be more useful. After a couple repetitions he had drawn out a graph of the flashes and brightness. Just as he was putting the meaning of it together the call came from Commander Eastman, with another piece of information. =/\= Commander, I’ve been interpreting a similar communication from them. We need to use the power core to emit the wave. The core’s energy must have reacted with something on their end to cause this, and is damaging their ship and trapping them in the subdimension. By powering up the core and polarizing the emissions 90 degrees we can break the connection. I’ve recorded the exact specifications of the energy output needed. Forwarding it to you and Engineering now. It’ll likely cause more damage to the station, but it’ll get everyone out of this. =/\=

Tag Ozu Saya as Lt. George Hugo Soft Tag Sven Aune as PO Mary Spiesman [ Chief Ozu Saya and Lt. George Hugo - Main Engineering] George nodded in satisfaction as the Caitian officer started fighting one of the many fires. He glanced over his shoulders at his chief sitting tensely in the dark in her office, eyes covered by the damp cloth. There were no fires close to her, so George felt she'd be safe enough for the moment if he moved away to help with the fires. When K'Dex hailed him again, George approached curiously, knowing that the Caitian wouldn't stop battling the fires if it weren't something important. He stood staring at the wall uncomprehendingly for a few moments until the pattern amongst the random lights flashing and bobbing around them started making sense. Oh, what the hell? But he said it quietly. Some kind of beings trying to communicate. The first part is prime numbers, but...what's the rest? K'Dex, see if you can record those flashes somehow, maybe with a tricorder? I don't know if we'll be able to decipher it.Meanwhile, Saya indeed sat in the dark, both of the lack of actual lights, and her own eyes. On the desk in front of her, something started beeping, and the chief engineer reached out cautiously, feeling around for whatever PADD was making the sound. After checking a couple that only contained engineering journals or her own notes, she found the one that automatically collected engineering reports. After a moment's hesitation, Saya removed the cloth from her eyes and tried to look at the glowing screen of the PADD. Her heart started racing as she realized that the text was horribly blurred and she couldn't make it out. With a shaking hand, she returned the cloth to its previous position and found the read-aloud control by memory. Shadow beings...subdimensions...electromagnetic waves...power core..... hell.
