[ Leanna & Ariana - Park to XO's Quarters] Even the momentary distraction caused by the arrival of the people, Judy had called to help them didn't stop the impending sense of doom. In fact Lea doubted that it would truly leave her until they were able to help the Shadow aliens. Although the emotions of the others especially Kyo when he realised that they also had Alieth to consider, seemed small compared to the almost drowning feeling that she was experiencing. However the Betazoid was aware of Judy writing down what else she had found out, before the logistics of moving Ari, Benny and Alieth was figured out. Once that was in place and Ari was holding on as tightly as possible to Thomas, it was time to leave the increasingly smoky atmosphere of the Park and into the Jefferies tube. The sense of doom appeared to lessen slightly as she climbed, knowing that she had to ignore the aches, the emotional overload if she was going to successfully get her and Aven to the safety of Judy's quarters. Luckily for her, Aven didn't fuss and at one point fell asleep as if he was oblivious to what was going on, whilst Ariana did what she was told and acted as though this was some kind of adventure. Of course that was the innocence of childhood as they finally made it into Judy's home, which looked quite cosy with the candles and Ari's eyes lit up at seeing the ice cream on offer. As Judy then spoke to Max and Anna about the spread on offer, the impending doom of earlier began to increase like a crescendo wave. Barely hearing Judy relay what Lea had told her to Science as it threatened to finally overwhelm her. " We need to hurry, the sense of doom is increasing to the point that it's starting to overwhelm my other senses ... can someone take Aven for me?" she said, her voice straining with the effort.

Suddenly she tossed her tricorder, which was odd, but the strange behavior was soon explained when the device exploded. That wasn't good. She had a temper, but her tone completely changed. She approached him and spoke in a low tone. A problem has presented itself. "Except, a space station doesn't have warp capability." he said. That didn't make any sense. As he was talking, one of the shadowy figures began to flash as well. In a pattern 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17. It would stop, then start over again. Sven didn't see this as he was focused on Kova, but a few of the patrons noticed and pointed. But once they looked at it, it would vanish. Xander spoke, "One of the shadows is flashing." he relayed the pattern. "Kova, can I barrow you communicator?" he didn't wait for a response. =A= "Eastman-Williams, this is Aune. Our computer expert has noticed something extremely disturbing. There are huge amounts of subspace shears all about the station. And one of the shadows here in the Blue beta started flashing. A pattern. I think it's prime numbers up to 17." =A=[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] Kova watched as Aune relieved her of her communicator without so much as a response. "Hey," she began to protest. This was the sort of behavior she was used to. It had been a while sense she'd seen it cast in her direction, but it was a reminder of how things really were. It was likely that it was the urgency of the moment, but the Andorian still had a hard time thinking the same thing would have been done to Bremmer or that blowhard, Torrin. It wasn't something that she'd lose sleep over. And perhaps the reminder was timely to keep her from getting too comfortable in her new role. Listening as he spoke, however, she overheard him make his report to Eastman. It was interesting that he sought to apply her husband's name as well when addressing her. Human conventions of marriage seemed to have no set rules. It was quite a mystery how they had managed to explode across the galaxy at such a relatively young age. Pushing the thought aside, she continued to listen, even making note of the shadows' pattern of flashing. "Why stop at 17? Kova asked aloud. Did that hold any significance? Most cultures would recognize the pattern of prime numbers at five or less. It was certainly a sign that they were intelligent and able to communicate. Was that the only significance though? This was a testament to just how important communication was. "The shears may not have come form this... reality," Kova mused. She hated quantum theory, but she could recall her first lecture about it. "Think of a napkin as a barrier from one reality to the next. It can be torn from either side. So, the ability to tear it may not have come from our side. But if something punches through, it could easily have collided with our station." And that was pretty much it for what Kova could recall. She hadn't managed to stay awake for the remainder of the lecture. It wasn't exactly easy to sit through an hour-long lecture given by a Benzite.

[ Leanna & Ariana - Park, Deck 6] At the mention of Judy remaining behind, it occurred to Lea that she had been so in depth with the link to the shadows, that she hadn't realised that she would of ended up on her own and with three of the children to look after. So she was definitely thankful for the suggestion being made as Kyo, Max and the other three children left, before Judy took out a PADD in order to record what Lea knew so far. " Good idea and I will" she replied after Judy told her that any numbers she could get would be useful. So as Judy then put out a call to get them some extra help, the Betazoid prepared to take out the sling so she could carry Aven safely, with him being the youngest. However before she could do that or answer Judy, she became aware of one of the shadows taking an interest in her as it moved towards her and placed a hand on her. Of course she couldn't feel it but she did sense that it was done as a gesture of peace, followed by the feeling of general distress that she had experienced through the link. " They're peaceful beings but in a lot of distress" she said out loud, before an image appeared in her mind. " I'm also getting an image ... a triangle with a dot, a square with that wave coming out of it and now the wave has struck both the triangle and square splitting them open slightly".As more of the image came to her, Lea continued to explain what she was seeing. " The square's gone .. no wait it's back but slightly open and broken, there's another wave but this time, it's struck the triangle making it look like a U shape ... I don't know but there's concern and a feeling of doom".Hopefully Judy or one of the others would know exactly what it meant as she looked at the shadow or where it had been. We'll do what we can to help Lea knew that she might have to reestablish the link once they were out of here and as help arrived, she got the sling and put it on, before carefully placing Aven inside, then spoke to Ari. " Ari, I need you to hold on to whoever is going to carry you okay?"." Yes Mama"." Good girl and we're ready to move".Lea would certainly make it up to her daughter once this was over as well as retrieve the gifts and stroller once it was safe to do so.
tag Sven Aune Judith Eastman Ozu Saya [ Domen Kyo - Deck 3 --> Park] Kyo was swearing silently and making expansive mental promises to add some sort of upper-body workout to his routine by the time he'd made it back to the park where smoke from the fire was starting to drift closer to the turbolift. He cursed aloud when he stepped out of the tube and guiltily realized that he'd forgotten about Alieth. Thankfully, the three-horn was sticking close to the remaining children. Damn, Judy. What about Alieth? Do we have anything we can put her in to carry her? Or, since she has the harness, maybe we can use the leash to make a person harness to hold her? I'm just afraid she's going to struggle and maybe hurt someone accidentally. The fire was definitely getting closer to the point that they would start suffering lung damage from the smoke if they stayed in the park much longer.

Mabel Henriksen [Park -> First Officer's Quarters]After writing down everything Lea had described, Judy addressed their logistics for moving. "Thomas, you take Ari. I see Lea's taking Aven, so Kyo can take Benny. You hold on tight and don't let go, young man," Judy instructed, with particular attention to the toddler. "Okay," Benny answered. "Mabel, come here. We'll strap Alieth to you," Judy ordered her assistant, who complied willingly. Then, Judy fabricated a two-part harness/sling. First, she strapped Alieth to Mabel using the leash. Then, she used a spare tie (Max's) that she carried in her handbag to secure the little three-horn, so that the horns had a minimum chance of colliding with Mabel. Lastly, she slid the handbag's straps onto her arm, ready to move. "Forward, march!" the First Officer directed. After the long climb, the group would reach the First Officer's spacious quarters. The living space was dimly but adequately lit, thanks to a combination of candles and flashlights. Sofas, rugs, and dining chairs provided space aplenty for all to sit, while a large offering of ice cream was laid out on the dining table. Entering the room, Judy gave Max a questioning sideways look, and he automatically knew she was questioning the ice cream. "It would've melted anyway," he defended. "It's not that much," Anna added to her father's defense, considering the six pints of ice cream to be a modest menu. "You don't get to criticize my cheese habit anymore," Judy acquiesced, as she plopped down on the couch and tapped her commbadge. =A= "Eastman to the science labs. Through limited telepathic communication with the beings, they've told us something concerning an electromagnetic wave. This wave could be what got us into this mess, or what'll get us out of it. We don't know for sure. What I do understand from their symbols-based messaging is that if only one entity, either us or them, but not the other, emits this wave, it causes damage. Whether this means we should both do it, or neither should, I do not know. What do you have?" =A= Meanwhile, as Mabel released Alieth, the three-horn was approached by both corgis, excited as the dogs were in this weird day.

tag Judith Eastman Ozu Saya[ Domen Kyo - Park --> Eastman Quarters] Kyo willingly took Benny in his arms and made sure the toddler had a tight hold before he began the climb back to Deck 3. By the time he was finally able to set the child down, Kyo was more afraid of dropping him than anything else. The muscles in his arms trembled and twitched with the exertion that his body wasn't accustomed to. Evekh ran to him as soon as Benny was on the floor, and Kyo dropped to sit flat rather than try and fail to pick up his own son. Daddy! he cried wrapping his arms around Kyo's torso, since it was now in reach. Kyo wrapped tired arms around Evekh with a sigh. Daddy, can I have ice cream, too? Of course that would be the toddler's focus, Kyo thought wryly. He smiled and released Evekh. Sure, go ahead. He hadn't been paying attention to what Judy and Lea said, until Lea asked someone to take the baby. Despite his exhaustion and wobbly limbs, Kyo reached out. Here, give him to me. At worst, he would lower Aven straight to the floor between his knees. When released, Alieth was more than happy to join her fluffy friends. The three-horn knew they weren't of a kind, the three of them, but they'd been around most of her life, so she considered them hers.

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Science Lab] Shavan looked up, momentarily confused, before glimpsing a flash of light among the shadows. Alice was right. The flashes seemed to be in a pattern. Counting them, he recognized the sequence of prime numbers. And while he would indeed remain suspicious of sabotage until proven otherwise, he wondered if this was an attempt to communicate using mathematics, the most universal language there was. “I see it. I think they're trying to tell us something.”Then, after the prime numbers had caught their attention, there was a second pattern. Shavan picked up a PADD to try to write down what he saw of it, as this one was much more complicated. Which meant it might be more useful. After a couple repetitions he had drawn out a graph of the flashes and brightness. Just as he was putting the meaning of it together the call came from Commander Eastman, with another piece of information. =/\= Commander, I’ve been interpreting a similar communication from them. We need to use the power core to emit the wave. The core’s energy must have reacted with something on their end to cause this, and is damaging their ship and trapping them in the subdimension. By powering up the core and polarizing the emissions 90 degrees we can break the connection. I’ve recorded the exact specifications of the energy output needed. Forwarding it to you and Engineering now. It’ll likely cause more damage to the station, but it’ll get everyone out of this. =/\=

[ Leanna & Ariana - XO's Quarters] When Kyo offered to take Aven for her, Lea would be eternally grateful to the Bajoran, knowing that she wasn't the only suffering in some way because of the situation. If it wasn't for the intense feeling of impending doom, she would of been capable of seeing to her son, but at the same time, didn't want to harm him, if things got worse. " Thank you Kyo, I really appreciate this as I don't want to hurt him, if this gets worse" her voice still extremely strained with effort. Luckily she was able to carefully take the baby out of the sling and handed him to Kyo, glad to have someone watch over him until she was free from the telepathic link. Ari on the other hand wasn't fazed by what was going on as she followed Evekh's lead in asking for ice cream. " Mama can I have some too please?"." Yes, you can Sweetheart". " Thanks Mama, Evekh I'll come sit next to you".Ari didn't waste any time in going over to the table as Judy handled several calls, including what Science had found in regards to the information they had found as well as Lea from her link with the shadow aliens. Seeing her go to Max when she finished, showed the strain that this was all doing to them and wished she could still have that kind of close comfort with someone. Even as Anna began to tinker at the piano, Lea remained rooted to the spot, awaiting the end of the link and hopefully a resolution before they all suffered a worse situation.

She couldn't do anything herself, but there was no point in telling Judy that and worrying her, so she tapped her combadge and simply said, =/\= Acknowledged. Stand by. =/\= Standing and carefully making her way blindly to the door, Saya yelled, Hugo! into the chaos, knowing he'd come running. He was in front of her in a moment. We need to power up the core and polarize the emissions by 90 degrees. It'll cause more damage, like she said in the announcement, George said doubtfully. I'm not even sure there's enough power to the core to do it.Do whatever you have to. The station will be ripped apart otherwise. Hook up the generators if you have to.You go sit back down. We'll take care of it.Saya hated to obey him, but knew she couldn't do anything without being able to see, so she reluctantly returned to her chair and listened anxiously as her assistant gave orders and tried to work a miracle. Amazingly, the power core did have some juice left. Saya heard the hum as it kicked on a few minutes later. Then he must have done the polarization because the hum changed to something that made her skin crawl. [ Domen Kyo - Eastman-Williams Quarters] Kyo took Aven and after holding him close for a moment to make sure the infant felt safe, he lowered him to the floor before his arms gave out and made silly faces at him. He sat cross-legged and propped Aven against his ankles so he could keep him entertained.

Tag Leanna Mazal , Ozu Saya , Shavan Th'zhaar , and really just everyone [ Leanna & Ariana - XO's Quarters] When Kyo offered to take Aven for her, Lea would be eternally grateful to the Bajoran, knowing that she wasn't the only suffering in some way because of the situation. Even as Anna began to tinker at the piano, Lea remained rooted to the spot, awaiting the end of the link and hopefully a resolution before they all suffered a worse situation.
tag Ozu Saya Judith Eastman [ Chief Ozu Saya - Main Engineering] Saya had just finished listening to decide what she needed to do about it when the explanation came from Judy. Even without being able to see him, Saya could feel his imposing presence looming over her. Why are you up?She waved him off and held out the PADD. Data from sciences and orders from Judy.
Tag Judith Eastman and Leanna Mazal | /!\ WARNING /!\ The powercore booted up. But as the power was now out of phase, it made a horrible screeching unworldly noise that traveled through the EPS conduits setting the whole station a hum with this horrid noise. Warning indicators went off, flashing and whooping. The existing EPS power system took another hit and line blew out. Lights on the other hand kicked on, but dimmed into an eerie twilight like ambiance... |Blue Beta || Sven Aune | Xander | Sherry X.|Sven didn't know what to say to Kova. He recognized the prime numbers, but didn't know why they chose to stop at 17. "I, don't know." he said simply. His hand throbbed and his head ached. He would have to go to sick bay after all of this. And there was still the matter with Xander. He seemed absolutely miserable out here on the frontier. And Sven could empathize. Xander had been taken hostage, and then shot. Not to mention a myriad of other strange things. He sighed. Then Eastman-Williams message range over the communications systems. Sherry, still sitting cross legged and scoffed. "Hah. Expect more damage trying to fix this mess?" she shook her head. Xander simply ignored her. Then there was this weirdly unworldly screeching sound from the conduits. The lights kicked on, then dimmed casting the bar into a gloomy setting. From the corner of his eye, he saw the shadows, and after a second, they faded away... |Science Lab || Alice Duff |Alice continued to remain close to Shavan. "You know egghead, if this works, I'll buy you a drink. Assuming that these creepy shadow people don't hijack our station or something." And boy, did she hope. The power began to whine up and she soon covered her ears "What in blue blazes?" she said loudly as a conduit ruptured behind her. In the dim of the lighting she too saw the shadows slowly vanish. |Park| Shadow people |Lea could feel it. The shadows were beginning to panic. A sense of the end was upon them. But as the power began to whine up, out of phase, there was a sense of surprise from them. They seized the opportunity to escape from their sub-dimensional pocket that had imprisoned them and slip back into their own. The Shadow near Lea felt relief, and a sense of immense gratitude and thanks-giving before it vanished. Tags Thea BakerShavan Th'zhaarKova Sh'qaleqK'Dex@kayasom @elisabremmer

[ Leanna - XO's Quarters] With Aven safe and being entertained by Kyo and Ariana happily eating ice cream, Leanna had one less thing to worry about, knowing that her children weren't affected by this situation. However as the station fought to regain power and the lifeblood within to bring them back to their kind of normal. The Betazoid didn't concentrate on the dullness of the light but rather the shadows as they began to panic further, as they feared the end. That feeling was something that Lea had experienced before, especially during the war and whilst her emotions battled to not let their grief consume her, their fear was replaced by one of surprise. Lea quickly began to piece together what had happened as the one that had reached out to her and remained by her side expressed relief, immense gratitude and finally their thanks before vanishing. " They've managed to escape back to their own dimension, they were grateful and thankful for what we did to help them" she said as the weight of it all, slowly ebbed away and she sank to the floor to recover from such an intense link. ******************** [ Seamus - Blue Beta] As things began to slowly return to normal despite the ear splitting noise that had followed the dim but welcomed lighting and Judy's earlier announcement. The Irishman and his staff had begun the tidy up, letting Sherry's comment pass them by as he led his team in collecting empty dishes, glasses and returning the solar lights to their rightful place. Then he would go into the Kitchen to help those there, go through and throw away anything that had managed to spoil and start again with ordering fresh supplies to replace them.

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Science Lab] Shavan sat back, still watching the shadows. It was now up to Engineering to see this through; there wasn’t much more to be done from up here. Assuming the polarized wave worked and this whole situation would be over soon. He let his attention turn back to Alice. Then, as expected, the reconfigured energy sent another overload through the system, emitting a new, unpleasant sound. But when it cleared, the station was still in one piece and he could no longer see the shadows. “I think that was it working. Which means I’ll be looking forward to that drink.” He smiled. Finally, things were going back to normal - or as normal as they got. Tag Sven Aune

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - First Officer's Office]
Judy took a deep breath as she stared at her little portable grill. The smell of meatballs frying, her lunch for this day, filled the room.
"First Officer's log. After yesterday's incident, we've thankfully managed to repair most of the major damage, a process which involved replacing several major components of the power core. I find myself highly grateful for the straightforward, modular designs used for these life-giving systems, without which we'd be in the dark right now. That being said, maintenance on the EPS grid continues, and I expect that it will take several weeks to restore 100% functionality."
"The park, unfortunately, is a different story. The fire has consumed much of the vegetation, requiring considerable effort to restore the place. It is thus all the more heartwarming to see members of our little community, civilians and off-duty fleeters alike, stepping up to rebuild it."
"Another small relief has been that most of the EPS relays that blew were already compromised. Our initial surveys indicate that as many as 30% of the failed relays had been installed improperly, and many others have been poorly maintained, much of which I've tracked to Parsinp's ineptitude. By our calculations, the faulty relays accounted for only a minor share of the damage to the station, but this has nevertheless spurred us to accelerate inspections and repairs on the whole power grid and other key systems. I look forward to the day, however distant it may be, when all this bears fruit and our engineers no longer need to work overtime."
"For now, I find myself wondering, if our tenure, despite all the incidents, is considered an improvement here, just how bad Parsinp's era must have been. If this is good, then these people - my people - deserve better."
"End log."
