[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Ready Room, NSS Soteria ] Vasser chose to fill in some of the blanks she could as she began to reply. "From what I can gather, it was Commodore Perry's personal preference to pilot their prototype," Vasser said. "I plan to offer the assistance of our own CMO, but I expect that Commander Eastman's reluctance of taking me up on the offer." That likely painted a clear enough picture of that situation. though, it seemed Nox was more concerned about the infiltration, which was understandable. "We've confirmed that there has been no infiltration into any of our computer systems," Vasser reported. "Their agent enlisted as a mechanic. Thus far, she had only been assigned menial tasks. Recently, she was assigned to maintenance of Owl-1. In fact, we suspect she may have been responsible for sabotage of the craft, which led to the accident with the Hera." It was then that Vasser decided to test the waters with Eastman's theory. "Of course, Starfleet is suggesting that it was caused by the Owl's weapons system, and that we may have fired a Tholian-based beam of some sort. Of course, our own diagnostics clearly show that our weapons were never active."
Tag: Kaya Som (Col. Nox) [ Colonel Nox Tallorin | NSS Ko via secure subspace transmission ]Tallorin shook his head. Everything that could go wrong had gone wrong. And Tholian technology suspected? That complicated things. " Tholian." Tallorin echoed, his expression going grim. "As improbable as a Starfleet spy, but here we are. I don't know, Vasser, I just don't know." He shook his head gazing off. The mechanic spy was a spanner in the works, but that would be a waiting game while Vasser had that investigated. But the rest of it.... "If you want my advice, I'd avoid bothering high command with this. They'd overreact, you'd be hauled in front of some tribunal, and it'd be hystrionics until someone got a promotion. That'd be well above my influence to mitigate. But who knows? Maybe this is all sensor ghosts and plasma hallucinations. Send me what you have and I can take a look. Informally. It'd be no trouble at all." Tallorin shrugged. "I'd hate to see you on the hook for this. Over nothing." Isaiah Quinn (Vasser)

[ Avi Moz | Intelligence Office, Mac ]There it was, someone else trying to get scary with Avi. Saints and skins, they'd never learn. But it only took a few moments of Harmon's tirade to realize he was serious and unlike before she needed no convincing that what he was saying was true enough to cause her some real trouble. She leaned forward, elbows on her knees. "Wow. Beautifully done, screwing me over." She dug her knuckle in the ridge between her eyebrows. When she looked up again, there was something more than anger. "I did everything you wanted. I got in, I got good, I sent you anything I could find. You were supposed to protect me and now you're going to extradite me?" Avi bit off choice self-destruction expletives. At just the right moment, her better nature prevailed to let her get through one more day. When she spoke next, it was a restrained sort of seething. "I worked on the Nyberrite fighter. Stabilizers, hatches, emergency blast doors, targeting rig. Ship launches and next thing I know I'm being told to prep for its return because there could be damage. That's it. I didn't see anything, I didn't touch anything." She took a long soothing draw of her toxic cigar, letting it's sparkly molecules fill her bloodstream. Then she started repeating any gossip she'd heard, including things she'd already reported in. "Chromar's on a long leash. This sergeant called Gorsk is Vasser's bulldog. Vasser's ex-Starfleet and I think she misses it. After the thing with the first botched love-fest, nearly everyone got pulled in for questioning. There was a fuss about another Colonel coming aboard, someone important. A Bajoran - saw him when I was securing docking clamps to his ship. The Ko or something." Avi sat back, crossed her arms and clicked her tongue. She turned around and had another look at Mabel before turning back to Harmon." And I think Chromar knows about that Tholian shit. That's they've got my number." Matthew Harmon Judith Eastman (Mabel)

[Matthew Harmon - Intelligence Office]Harmon wasn't at all in the mood to indulge Avi's recalcitrance. "I don't have time for your bullshit, Moz. It is your problem because the Nyberrite Alliance is a mercenary corporation with a state, and as such they will attempt to leverage diplomatic protocol to have you extradited back to them on whatever charges they see fit to try and nail you on. The Commander is none to pleased about having to pull you out, it has complicated what she is trying to do and so if you don't watch yourself she may very well see fit to oblige their requests at which point I won't have the means or desire to get you out of there for a second time," his tone was certainly absent of his usual stoicism. As he finished his tirade, his PADD made a notification noise as he received a message from the Commander. "I've just received a message from the Commander confirming as such. Vasser has requested your extradition, and is being uncooperative until her request is granted. So if you have nothing of use to me then so be it, Crewman Dak will escort you back to the Transporter Room and you will be given into the hands of Major Chromar." He wasn't exactly lying but he was certainly stretching the truth.

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Bridge, USS Mac]Judy nodded. "Yes, certainly, let's do it," she gave Quinn permission. She trusted the science officer's judgement, after all. She took a quick breath as she weighed her words to inform them of developments with Vasser. "I just got off the line with Vasser. We have the Owl-1 logs, but I'd say we're very much at a maybe in terms of cooperation. Any evidence we can furnish right now is going to be really helpful."She wasn't going to dive into the details, under the circumstances. "What do we have?" [Crewman Jovireh Velal - USS Mac - Bridge]Jovireh knew the feeling he described all too well. If she had any advice, or words of reassurance, she would have offered it. Thankfully she was spared the awkwardness of not having a response as Commander Eastman appeared on the Bridge, and the personal conversation was over. At the agreement to transport the alloy on board, the Crewman did so, this time erecting the safety containment fields standard for unknown substances. "Transport complete." Her gaze lifted to the Commander, and she was unable to hide the glimmer of hope in her expression as she replied to the following question. "Some of the debris from the field has the same Tholian-integrated technology as whatever caused the damage to the Hera." She explained. Thus far, this seemed to be the most promising lead toward finding out what actually happened. [ Colonel Nox Tallorin | NSS Ko via secure subspace transmission ]Tallorin shook his head. It'd be no trouble at all." Tallorin shrugged. "I'd hate to see you on the hook for this. Over nothing." [Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac ] As soon as Isaiah was given the okay, he proceeded to carry out the orders. He notified their chief engineer and his science team of what was currently in progress, via a message. As the team was being composed, Quinn watched as Velal saw to the debris' transport aboard the ship. Satisfied that it was complete and now in the hands of the investigation team, he chose to share what he had to contribute with Commander Eastman. "An investigative team is examining the debris now. This will verify which ship the debris came from, whether or not there was a third ship, and it should confirm the fusion of this Tholian technology that no one is in a hurry to claim." he shared. Admittedly, he found it interesting that Vasser seemed to be on the fence where cooperation was concerned. For a moment, he thought to offer his own thoughts where his former CO was concerned, but thought better of it. And then he reconsidered. "Why not tell us about this tech?" Isaiah said aloud. "The Alliance has consistently made an effort to work with us. These joint exercises... collaboration against recent Tholian activity in this sector. Why go through all of that, and not tell us about this weapon they may be working on. Speaking from a science perspective... any new tech would have several published papers about it, or be under development in the most secure of locations, likely near Nyberr itself. Not aboard a single starship without an escort."

[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Ready Room, NSS Soteria ] Vasser wasn't certain what she had been expecting in the way of advice from Colonel Nox, but she didn't think it was this. Perhaps it was because Vasser had never been shy of discipline. Typically, when she made a mistake she owned up to it. However, she couldn't argue with Tallorin's logic. He likely knew what her superiors were thinking. They certainly wouldn't be pleased when they heard about this incident, not to mention her involvement. Vasser's connection with Starfleet was supposed to be an asset, and it seemed to be more of a detriment as of late. "As would I," she replied calmly. "Perhaps you are right," Vasser stated. "It was something that Starfleet brought up. It may just be a convenient smoke screen to distract from their agent being discovered aboard the ship." Vasser wasn't certain she was convinced of that, but it was possible. "Chromar is already retracing the agent's steps aboard this ship. It may be wise to follow up with Captain Jogann as well, to make certain that noting privileged was compromised at Starbase Sigma-4 as well."

[NPC - Major Chromar & Alpha Sergeant Gorsk - Shuttlebay, NSS Soteria ] As Chromar moved through the storage area, a deep sigh left his lips. If only he had held onto her. He literally had the spy in his hands, and had just let her go. He should have enhanced his interrogation of Avi Moz weeks ago. Suffice it to say, if the opportunity presented itself, he likely would follow that avenue. It seemed that Harmon had gained the advantage for the time being. He hadn't thought the human had the gaul to pull something off like this. Suffice it to say, he wouldn't underestimate Harmon again. Nor would he allow his hands to be tied by Vasser. Her string of failures recently should prove that she'd fare better heeding his counsel over her own. After looking around, his eyes finally settled on something covered next to a nearby shelf. Pulling the tarp back, the Romulan's brow rose slightly. It was a turret, similar to the one mounted on Owl-1. Though what was different was the damage near the mounting of the turret. It appeared to have incurred some damage. Seemingly, damage consistent with what Owl-1 should have suffered according to the origninal damage report. =0= "Gorsk to Chromar." =0==0= "Chromar here. Go ahead," =0= the Romulan replied. =0= "I'm forwarding you a series of time stamps where Moz may have communicated with her handler," =0= Gorsk shared. =0= "It was clevelry embedded in sub-spatial white noise. I only noticed because it was a pattern that occurred just before the unauthorized transport. It's been happening for weeks." =0=The sound of that was like salt in a wound. Chromar grit his teeth as he raised his padd to scrutinize the new evidence. And there was something that quickly covered his eye. =0= "Gorsk. When exactly did Owl-1 return to the Soteria ? =0= =0= "Time index: 11:42," =0= Gorsk reported. Chromar's eyes compared the time index of Owl-1's arrival to that of the last communication. =0= "It began before Owl-1's return," =0= the Romulan mused aloud. His ears only twitched slightly before he felt something heavy club him from behind. His body fell foward slamming into the deck with a thud. =0= "Chromar? Chromar respond. Major?"=0= Gorsk's voice could be heard over the communicator, but there was no reply. The silence quickly culminated in the termination of the comm altogether. It left the Na'khul officer under the impression that Chromar was not alone.

"Or, it's possible that there was a third ship."It was certainly possible. Occam's razor had failed several times already. "What do you think?" she asked Jovireh.

Tag Jovireh Velal and Isaiah Quinn [Crewman Jovireh Velal - USS Mac - Bridge]The Crewman listened intently as the Commanders discussed theories, her gaze occasionally flicking to the panel where the computer was still going through the gathered data. Nothing new yet... The older woman's question brought her attention back to the conversation. Her thoughts? She paused momentarily, mentally sorting her own theory in a way that wouldn't sound so much like the ramblings of a crazy person. Hopefully. "The fact that this technology has been even remotely successfully integrated means it's not a new thing. Years of research... Years of development and testing... And now they're moving on to strategic deployment." As for why the Nyberrites hadn't told them about it... That seemed obvious, but she didn't want to risk giving herself the reputation of inheriting Romulan suspicion and paranoia, so she kept that thought to herself. "I also believe it may not have necessarily been a third ship... But a mine, planted by the Nyberrites, though not the Soteria. Vasser could simply be a pawn without realizing it."There. That only sounded partially crazy, right?

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - USS Mac - Sickbay]Riyo sighed to himself as he used a dermal regenerator to heal the incision sites, indicating for Nurse Tania to begin clearing away the rest of the instruments. They had saved the Commodore's life, his sight, his arm... But the doctor couldn't help feeling like it wasn't enough. Though even he had to accept when they had done all they could. "Good work, Tania. I couldn't have done it without you." There was no need to spread his own feelings of failure to her. She had done everything he told her to, with speed and precision, and without her help the patient would have died on the table. He would be certain to leave a commendation for her in his notes for Doctor Baker. Once finished, he straightened and tapped his com badge. =A="Sickbay to Bridge. The Commodore is out of surgery and stable, but I believe you should be here when I wake him, Commander."=A= The man was going to want answers, and Riyo could only hope Commander Eastman had those answers. He would need to check on Ensign Neme and their patient(s), but from the occasional noise he'd heard in the background he assumed there had been nothing the Vulcan couldn't handle.

[ Nurse Tania Logan - Sickbay, Deck 7] Tania watched as Dr Paawin finished sealing up the incision sites with the dermal regenerator, before acknowledging his request with a polite nod. The surgery itself had gone as well as expected given the circumstances and severity of Perry's injuries. However recognised the look and sigh that had come from the Bajoran medic prior to him thanking her and lightly squeezed his arm as she answered him. " Thank you and it's what I'm here for" she replied as he stepped to one side to call the bridge. Tania then cleared everything away and made the Commodore comfortable until he woke up and they could assess any further issues.

[LCDR Matthew Harmon - Intelligence Office]Harmon didn't have any intention of letting Avi be extradited, regardless of what the Commander might have wanted. He could delay it in legal procedures and bureaucracy long enough to try and sabotage any deal with the Alliance or help her flee. He didn't like abandoning his assets, even ones as unwilling and disagreeable as Avi. However, for now it suited his purposes if she thought he was willing to let it happen, so he ignored her incredulity.Fortunately, he had managed to incite her to talk now. He listened intently as she described what she had done and her assessment of the players on the Soteria. The mention of the Ko and another Colonel was interesting. For the time being however, Chromar and the Tholian weapons was the sort of thing they were after. He felt like facepalming as Mabel attempted...something...was she flexing? Trying to be intimidating? Whatever it was it wasn't particularly helpful, but Harmon ignored it, just as he ignored Avi's smoking in his office which he very much disproved of. Showing how he felt would no doubt further encourage her, however. "If I were to get you images of a number of Nyberrite Colonels would you recognise the one who came aboard or did you only hear about him?" identifying this Colonel and what he could have been doing would be Chloe's new task once he returned to the station. "As for Chromar, do you have any evidence or any suggestions on where we could look to find proof he knew about the Tholian technology?"

So slowly as she could she dropped the burning end of the cigar into the remaining whiskey in her glass. It fizzled and hissed dramatically and the whiskey turned an inky black. [Crewman Jovireh Velal - USS Mac - Bridge]The Crewman listened intently as the Commanders discussed theories, her gaze occasionally flicking to the panel where the computer was still going through the gathered data.

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Bridge, USS Mac]Judy exhaled. Uncovering what might well be a vast weapons program, maintained by the Alliance for maybe years, wasn't exactly a dream come true, but nor was it as big a disaster as perhaps the alternatives here were. She was interrupted from this train of thought by the comm from Sickbay. =A= "Acknowledged. I'll be down in a moment," =A= she commed, before turning to issue orders. "Compile a dossier on all of this. We'll need to distribute it to Vasser, and probably also San Francisco. I have to head to Sickbay, so Mr. Quinn, you're in charge."With that, she swiftly headed out, to Sickbay. [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Sickbay, USS Mac]Judy entered Sickbay with the same rapid walk, prompt but not rushing - a Manhattanite's gait. She identified the senior medical officer, Dr. Paawin Riyo, by sight. "How's the Commodore?" she asked him.

Tag Jovireh Velal (Jov and Paawin), soft Isaiah Quinn and Thea Baker (Tania) [Lt. Paawin Riyo - USS Mac - Sickbay]After the brief conversation with the Bridge ended, Riyo gave Tania a small nod, appreciating her subtle attempt at reassurance, before adjusting the lights back to standard settings and stepping out from behind the curtain. The injured Lt. seemed healed and resting, the Ensign he'd left in charge calm and collected - very Vulcany. He was about to check in with them for a report when the doors hissed open and the Commander entered, immediately asking about the Commodore. He walked over to her, keeping his voice down so as to not disturb the other patient in the room. "He's alive and in one piece. I wish that was all that mattered." He paused for just a brief moment, trying to think of the best way to describe the man's condition in 'lay-mans terms'. "The explosion that occurred must have been very close to him. He's lucky to have even survived long enough to be transported off that ship. We were able to reduce visible scarring, as well as prevent total blindness and amputation. But the amount of plasma that entered his bloodstream caused massive vascular damage. He'll have some memory loss, reduced function in his right arm and hand, and he'll be in a great deal of pain. We simply don't have the facilities to give him everything he needs. Tissue grafts might be an option down the road, but right now there's not enough blood flow to the effected areas for it to be successful." Riyo hated the phrase "There's nothing more I could do", so he didn't say it, but he hoped the Commander understood what the extensive injuries meant for the flag officer.

[ Colonel Nox Tallorin | N.S.S. Ko ]Tallorin nodded, comforted as ever by Vasser's steadiness. Lesser officers would succumb to paranoia which could only add chaos to an already volatile situation. "I'll handle Jogann. You have enough on your hands." Tallorin had, perhaps, a narrower scope of need-to-know than his counterpart here. No one wanted a fuss and the gossips on that station were interminable. "Well, good then. Thank you, Vasser. Let me know what you find. Nox out." [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Bridge, USS Mac]Judy clasped both hands behind her back as she listened. He made an interesting point. "Well, we have to consider that the Alliance isn't a monolith. It's quite possible that the elements running whatever weapons program this is, and the ones pulling for more cooperation, are different people within the Alliance. I know the left hand and the right hand here in Starfleet aren't always in harmony, and I imagine the same could be said of the Nyberrites," she noted. "Or, it's possible that there was a third ship."It was certainly possible. Occam's razor had failed several times already. "What do you think?" she asked Jovireh. [Crewman Jovireh Velal - USS Mac - Bridge]The Crewman listened intently as the Commanders discussed theories, her gaze occasionally flicking to the panel where the computer was still going through the gathered data. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac ] Isaiah listened as the debate continued across the bridge. They all seemed to be in agreement that the Nyberrite Alliance may not be acting in a monolithic fashion. That it was possible there was a subset acting on its on where these weapons were concerned. It also seemed to be a consensus that Vasser wasn't apart of that. Of course, all of this was supposition as there was no actual evidence to confirm one way or another. They were also entertaining that there was the possibility of some third element involved in the accident. The tests that the investigative team was currently running would determine that. It was then that Commander Eastman was summoned by Sickbay. As the first officer saw to tend to that, she left orders for a dossier to be compiled on all of this. "Right away, Commander," Isaiah said to her retreating from as she left him the bridge once again. His eyes shifted towards the tactical station where Crewman Velal manned her station. "I guess we'd better get started on --" He paused mid-sentence as his communicator went off. Tapping his badge, he spoke into the air. =A= "Quinn here. Go ahead." =A= =A= "Sir, we've completed the analysis and are forwarding you the results of our investigation now," =A= said Ensign Byers. =A= "Thank you, Byers. "These percentages aren't very damning one way or another. It was able to conclude that it is of Nyberrite origin with only 74% confirmation." Isaiah continued to stare at the readout. "Computer, account for the possibility that Tholian technology is compatible with other known technologies."SAMPLE ORIGIN COMPATIBILITY: Nyberrite Figher: Owl-1... 99.1% Nyberrite Class Vessels... 94.8% Federation Class Vessels... 93.2% Tholian Class Vessels... 71.5% Klingon Class Vessels... 63.9% Romulan Class Vessels... 62.4% Cardassian Class Vessels... 54.9% Breen Class Vessels... 49.7%
The numbers on Isaiah's screen certainly had his attention. "What do you think that means?" Isaiah asked aloud, as his eyes drifted towards Jovireh. It seemed to be a foregone conclusion that it was a piece of Owl-1. Yet, it was the probability that what they'd found was likely of Federation origin that was truly worrisome. "Notify Commander Eastman that we have the results."

[NPCs - Colonel Helena Vasser & Alpha Sergeant Gorsk - Bridge, NSS Soteria ] Vasser simply nodded as her communication with Colonel Nox came to an end. It left her a tad unsetted, but that wasn't something she had the luxury of focusing on at the moment. Right now, she needed to deal with the crisis at hand. She could worry about what to report and to whom later. As she rose from her seat, it was quickly obvious to Vasser that she hadn't settled on the matter. Nox hadn't steered her wrong thus far, and he'd never given her a reason not to trust him. As she stepped on the bridge, Vasser found herself relieved from the thoughts as she was quickly approached by Gorsk. "Colonel. Communications abruptly ceased with Major Chromar down in the Shuttlebay. He has since been unresponsive.""Check it out. Have Security meet you at the Shuttlebay," Vasser ordered. Gorsk nodded and immediately proceeded towards the turbolift.
[NPC - Major Chromar - Storage Area, Shuttlebay, NSS Soteria ] The back of his neck was smeared in green blood. Clearly, the blow he'd taken in the back of the head was the source. As his eyes opened, he felt a ringing in his ears. He was likely concussed. His eyes blinked a few time, as it tried to bring his surroundings into focus. He saw only boxes... storage crates. He was still aboard the Soteria... the storage area where he'd last been. He started to push himself to his knees, but found himself unable to plant one of his hands against the floor. It was... restrained. He tugged on the restraint and found that it had no give. His eyes focused on the cannister that it was attached to. And there were symbols upon it... changing... counting... backwards. It didn't take Chromar to realize what he was looking at. He attempted to open his mouth to call out for help, but found it met with pain... and the taste of copper. Blood flew freely from the corner of his lips. Several of his teeth lay in a pool of green blood where he had lain. His jaw was broken. He tugged against the restraint and found it futile. He couldn't let panic set in... he shoudln't... but it was so much easier said than done. His eyes tried to examine the situation. An explosive... attached to these crates. Why? Perhaps it was something a true infiltrator had not wanted him to find... to report. He recalled the turret... the one that had been replaced... but not by Avi Moz. There was someone else. Someone who was about to eliminate Chromar and the evidence. He noticed the fuel rods. If they exploded... it could be enough to take the Soteria with it. Again, he tugged at the restraint, part of him hoping to make enough noise to rouse suspicion, though the only sound that met his forced silence was the approaching sound of laughter. A mocking, tyrannical laughter.

Tag: Jovireh Velal , (soft) Judith Eastman [Crewman Jovireh Velal - USS Mac - Bridge]Commander Eastman left for Sickbay, and Jovireh glanced at the panel to check on the computer's progress, glad she had already started compiling all the information. It was taking awhile, but was nearly complete. No new information from the analysis. When she received the data from Quinn, her brow furrowed as she examined it. The more information they had, the less the entire situation made sense. Though she was relieved to see that likely they were not dealing with a third faction. She quickly added the data into the group the computer was finishing with, and returned her focus to try and make sense of it all. Once more she was asked for her opinion, and it took her a few moments to think of one. "The evidence does not fit the behavior we've seen." There were many investigators that would disregard suspects' behavior, but being an empath Jovireh had the strong belief that people couldn't hide their true nature as well as they thought they could. "We should interrogate the pilots of Owl-1. If possible, I would like to be present for that." Of course, that entirely relied upon Vasser's cooperation. Hopefully the new evidence would loosen her stance a little bit. Jov sent the message to Commander Eastman's PADD, simply informing her the results were in. As they still didn't have any real answers, she didn't feel the need to interrupt her while she checked on the Commodore.
