[ LCDR Matthew Harmon - Sickbay -> Bridge] [...] As he had feared, Lieutenant Aravis appeared to have no actionable intelligence to help them piece together what had happened. It was apparent he wasn't going to get anything more from her so he made his leave. "Thank you Lieutenant, I'll leave you to the medical staff now so you can recover. We'll get to the bottom of this, you just take it easy and relax," he said before turning and leaving the room, heading back to the Bridge. [...] [ Lt. jg Aravis - Sickbay] [...] "Thank you, Ensign," Aravis said to the medical officer as she laid back with a sniff. "I'm sorry, Commander," she added as Harmon turned to leave. "I'd like to help with the investigation. Will I be able to leave soon?" It was becoming more difficult to talk and breathe, so Aravis suspected she might be stuck here for longer than she'd like, but maybe by the next day she'd be able to help figure out what had happened. She closed her eyes and tried to relax as her breath hitched painfully. [ Ensign Neme, Medical (bio) | Sickbay ]Harmon was on his way and the Ba'ku on the biobed had kindly laid down. With a few keypresses, the biobed's arms emerged and closed in a gentle arch above Lieutenant Aravis's chest. "The arch will regenerate your lung and trachea tissues and remove any harmful particulates. It will be painless. In my opinion, if you lie still, you will be cleared for light duty in four hours." Then Neme began to program the arch. "If you'll allow me, Lieutenant, you are performing very well given the circumstances," Neme said keying in the settings. "Many would panic in the same situation, overcome by guilt, perhaps. But you seem very calm and focused." This evaluation was delivered, of course, uncolored with emotion as was typical of most Vulcans. Ozu Saya (Aravis) [ Lt. jg Aravis - Sickbay] Aravis knew that the medical officer was trying to be comforting, in a very Vulcan way, and offered Neme a weak grateful smile. She laid her head back and stared at the ceiling for awile while the arch worked its medical magic. At some point later, Aravis jerked awake, having dozed off once her adrenaline rush had calmed down. It took a moment to realize that it was nearby activity that must have woken her. Commander Eastman was in sickbay, asking how the commodore was doing. She listened unabashedly, though without moving, as the doctor described Perry's condition. Tears filled her eyes again when she heard how badly injured he'd been while she'd escaped essentially unscathed. Aravis couldn't help a slight sniffle as a tear ran unchecked down to her ear. She couldn't move her arms to wipe it away.

[ LCDR Matthew Harmon - Intelligence Office ] "Oh please do," he said sarcastically about the drawing. Avi drawing him a picture would be rather quaint indeed. When she spoke about Chromar, he stroked his chin. He had wondered why Chromar was so sceptical of Avi. As far as he knew she hadn't been especially suspicious. "I'll have to see if I can find out why he targeted you," he said pensively. "Do you have anything else to add for now?" [ Avi Moz | Intelligence Office, Mac ]She bloody well didn't. Avi pushed herself to standing, slid the now black and crusted over whisky glass further across the desk. "No. Are we done?" The Bolian moved for the door stopping to look over the human's shoulder. "You get all that? Tell your boss I'm done." When the doors didn't jump open at her approach, Avi tapped the panel, then added, "I'll be in the lounge or whatever you call it when you're ready to hand me over." With that, she brushed past the security goon and made to head to Ten Forward with the intention to clean them out. Exit Avi.Matthew Harmon , Judith Eastman (Mabel)

Tag Jovireh Velal , Kaya Som , Ozu Saya (Aravis) [Lt. Paawin Riyo - USS Mac - Sickbay]Riyo was grateful that the Commander didn't ask about the potential for the Commodore to return to duty, or inquire further as to the treatment necessary. He specialized in trauma and triage, and had very little experience with long-term care. He could say what was needed to return Perry to full health, but he had no idea if it was possible. They were respectfully interrupted by the Ensign, whom provided useful insights towards the investigation, and Riyo nodded his silent agreement. He wasn't an engineer by any means, but he knew fighter cockpits were small enough that the two pilots had to be sitting rather close to each other when the explosion occurred. It was likely either the Commodore's control panel or the one directly next to it that exploded in order for the Lieutenant to not be more injured than she was. That in itself was suspicious. He didn't voice his opinion on the matter, as the Commander already agreed with the assessment, and their attention was drawn by a small sniffle from their other patient. Riyo shifted to face Aravis, grateful also that the Commander took a moment to comfort her. Normally he would step aside and let the patient's physician - in this case, Neme - provide the comfort as well, but Vulcans weren't exactly known for their bedside manner. So he moved to where the woman would be able to see him and offered her a reassuring smile, remembering what she had said when she first told them what happened. "What happened to him isn't your fault, and the information you gave us about the explosion helped me treat him as quickly as possible." Even as he spoke, he knew from experience that a few words weren't enough to ease survivor's guilt. But at least he could let her know that even though she blamed herself, nobody else blamed her. His gaze turned to the Commander and he gave her a small nod. "Whenever you're ready." Waking the Commodore could wait a few minutes if she felt the need to stay with Aravis a little longer. With another reassuring smile to Aravis, he excused himself and disappeared back behind the curtain concealing his unconscious patient, and began to ready the hyposprays he'd need to wake him and keep him comfortable enough to speak. Though his stomach began twisting in knots as he knew this would be when they found out just how extensive his memory loss was, and if they had succeeded in completely repairing his sight or not.

[NPC - Ens. Mabel Henriksen - Harmon's Office]Mabel continued to stand back, trying her best to ignore the horrid Bolian, even when she addressed her outright. And at last, it was over. They were done. Mabel wished they had some excuse to detain Avi longer, preferably somewhere else, but getting rid of the little stink-bomb was good enough. "I can see why you sent her undercover, just to get rid of her," Mabel said to Matt, at what was about an 11 on the Mabel meanness scale.

[Crewman Jovireh Velal - USS Mac - Bridge]Commander Eastman left for Sickbay, and Jovireh glanced at the panel to check on the computer's progress, glad she had already started compiling all the information. It was taking awhile, but was nearly complete. No new information from the analysis. When she received the data from Quinn, her brow furrowed as she examined it. The more information they had, the less the entire situation made sense. Though she was relieved to see that likely they were not dealing with a third faction. She quickly added the data into the group the computer was finishing with, and returned her focus to try and make sense of it all. Once more she was asked for her opinion, and it took her a few moments to think of one. "The evidence does not fit the behavior we've seen." There were many investigators that would disregard suspects' behavior, but being an empath Jovireh had the strong belief that people couldn't hide their true nature as well as they thought they could. "We should interrogate the pilots of Owl-1. If possible, I would like to be present for that." Of course, that entirely relied upon Vasser's cooperation. Hopefully the new evidence would loosen her stance a little bit. Jov sent the message to Commander Eastman's PADD, simply informing her the results were in. As they still didn't have any real answers, she didn't feel the need to interrupt her while she checked on the Commodore. [Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac ] Isaiah listened as Jovireh shared her opinion of the results. He nodded in agreement. "I actually concur," Isaiah stated. "Of course, just because the debris appears to have originated from Owl-1, it still doesn't track with what we've seen before. If you think more evidence is warranted, then that's good enough for me." Isaiah sighed slightly, actually relieved that the gavel hadn't fallen the other way. "We can certainly ask the Colonel if she's open to us questioning her pilots now. Let's hail the Soteria."Isaiah left his station and moved towards the center of the Bridge. Truth be told, he was actually a tad nervous to be addressing his former commander directly. He swallowed as he waited for the coms to open, clasping his hands behind his back before the image of the Nyberrite vessel was replaced with image of its commanding officer. =A= "Greetings, Colonel Vasser." =A=
Tag: Jovireh Velal
[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Bridge, NSS Soteria ] As the hail came in, Vasser had to admit, she was expecting it to be Commander Eastman. However, the familiar face of a former science officer was a welcome change of pace. There may have even been a hint of pride in seeing Quinn in this position. He had certainly come a long way. =0= "Greetings, Commander Quinn. What can I do for you?" =0= There was a part of her that wondered if this was Eastman's call, or if there was something else that actually demanded her attention. =A= "Colonel, we're in the midst of preparing a full dossier of our findings to distribute to you. However, we were wondering if it would be possible for us to debrief the pilots of Owl-1 to include their contributions as well."Vasser nodded slowly. =0= "I have no objections to that. I'm optimistic that I can make them available to you within the hour. Presently, we're following a lead of our own," =0= Vasser stated. =0= "Once we have something we will share that as well." =0=
[NPCs - Major Chromar, Alpha Sergeant Gorsk, Specialist Javik - Shuttlebay / Storage, NSS Soteria ] As Gorsk entered the shuttlebay, she was flanked by a pair of security officers. Her eyes quickly scanned the area and yielded no sign of Major Chromar. Her eyes did, however, fall upon a Reman who seemed preoccupied by a padd. "Specialist," she said, gaining his attention. "Have you seen Major Chromar? This was his last known location."The Reman looked at Gorsk and then the pair of security officers behind her. "He went to check the storage area," Javik reported. "Show me," Gorsk ordered. She then turned to the other pair of officers. "Secure the area. No one else leaves the shuttlebay without my approval." The officers affirmed their orders, and Gorsk began to follow Javik into the storage area. He proceeded to lead down an empty corridor, when she heard a sound in the distance. "What was that?"Javik's head turned to look towards the distant sound. His eyes then shifted towards Gorsk, whose large red eyes were steadily on the Romulan. He could sense her skepticism. He quickly reached for his sidearm, though as he lifted it towards the Na'kuhl woman, she had already closed the distance between them. Her hand, ceasing his wrist, and twisting it before driving his arm down towards her rising knee and dispelling the weapon. Compared to Gorsk, the Reman towered over her, but she gave no quarter as she pulled him forward only to deliver a forearm to his windpipe followed by a succession of blows to his midsection and finally a backhanded blow to the side of the Reman's head, knocking him to the deck. Gorsk studied him briefly, and then kicked his weapon away. She tapped the comm-device on the back of her hand and quickly spoke into it. "Security. Secure, Specialist Javik for questioning." Gorsk then began to proceed towards origin of the sounds, where she found Major Chromar in some sort of restraints next to crates and what appeared to be some sort of incendiary device. "Major?" The Romulan only replied with a few grunts. A quick inspection revealed that there was no time to attempt diffusing the device. Gorsk quickly stood and drew her sidearm. Chromar grunted and shook his head in protest, but that did nothing to dissuade the the Nyberrite sergeant from firing. The beam managed to strike its target. Chromar was able to pull himself away from the cannister that he'd been attached to. Gorsk tapped her comm-unit once again. =0= "Gorsk to Bridge. I have discovered an incendiary device. Lock on to my signal and transport immediately." =0= Gorsk removed her comm-unit and placed it on top of the cannister. She then helped Chromar move away as he actually seemed to protest, gesturing towards the crates.
[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Bridge, NSS Soteria ] Hearing the message Vasser quickly rose to her feet. "Lock on to Gorsk's signal. Transport 40,000 kilometers, best starboard vector. Raise shields and alert the Mac to do the same." As quickly as the orders were given, they were followed. The cannister along with the crates that had been attached materialized 40,000 kilometers away from the Soteria and in a matter of seconds exploded. There was only a slight trimmer on the Bridge of the Nyberrite vessel, but it clearly could have been worse. "Find out what's happening with our people in the shuttlebay, now," Vasser ordered. And while she was certain that no major damage had been sustained, it didn't hurt to check. "Make certain that the Mac is not in need of any assistance, and notify them that we will share intel as soon as receive initial reports." Vasser stood at the center of the bridge as an orderly chaos ensued to carry out her directives.

Reaching into her (very much non-regulation) handbag, as she waited for him to lead the way, she took out her PADD and quickly shot off a few missives. First to the Bridge. Thank you, excellent work, will review later. Then to Mabel, attaching the report. Am in Sickbay. Please review the attached. "Review" meant "read thoroughly, understand, and be able to summarize verbally", as Judy had very gently taught Mabel. The young woman's brain was just as much in demand as her eyes, ears, and thumbs, in her job. Lastly, to Harmon. Consider possible foul play. Was Perry targeted?
In the spirit of urgency, Judy hadn't appended her initials to any of these missives (an obsolete habit, which very much dated the XO, picked up due to poor functionality in an earlier version of Starfleet's messaging system).

=0= "Once we have something we will share that as well." =0=
[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Bridge, NSS Soteria ] Hearing the message Vasser quickly rose to her feet. [Lt. That was a possibility she would keep to herself. She looked up at the viewscreen as the comlink established. The Colonel's obvious shift in demeanor upon seeing Quinn was interesting. Jovireh couldn't help but suspect the woman would have been far less likely to grant their request so easily had Commander Eastman been the one to ask. The conversation was brief, and her attention returned to the console as she began to make sure everything was in order before preparing the file to send to the Soteria. Eastman's message came through, not requiring a response. It was shortly followed by a far more urgent message - from the Soteria. "Brace for impact!" Jovireh called out as she swiftly raised their shields, her other hand grasping the edge of her console. Not a moment too soon, as the ship rocked slightly as the shockwave struck their shields. She ran a quick scan before reporting. "There was a detonation about 40,000 kilometers off port. Shields down to 97%... but no damage to the ship." A sigh of relief escaped her as she straightened and looked at Quinn. "The Soteria sent the warning to raise shields." Another message came through, which she read briefly before continuing. "They're offering assistance if needed and will provide us intel as soon as their initial reports come in." That was strange... it sounded like they weren't entirely certain what had just happened either, yet they somehow knew it was going to happen. She looked back up at the man in charge, waiting for further orders.

He readied the second hypo - the pain reliever - in case what he had already given him wasn't enough. He took the moment to look over at the Commander. "Please try to be brief, and stay positive. He had seen it happen too many times, especially when patients realized they lost what they had dedicated their entire lives to - in this case, Perry's career. When they lose hope, they lose their will to live, and his condition was still bad enough that his body could easily fail if he stopped fighting to survive. The ship rocked slightly, and he gave the Commander a concerned look, wondering if she would have to leave to take care of whatever just happened. This was really a bad time for that... But the tremor wasn't followed by a red alert, or any tactical call from the Bridge, so everything was fine, right?

[ Commodore Calvin Perry - Sickbay, Deck 7] The gentle hiss of the hypospray slowly began to rouse Calvin from the most beautiful dream. One that had reunited him with his wife and one that he was reluctant to leave. However he couldn't fight his body as it woke up. Yet he felt as though he was trying to swim through mud and couldn't understand why until everything started to clear. He recognised the sounds and realised that he was in Sickbay but didn't know which Sickbay. His last memories were of some kind of explosion and he figured that he must of been hurt somehow. Something wasn't right but he didn't know why and as he looked out, there were people that seemed familiar, although couldn't recollect their names. " Who are you?, is this the Gideon? , are we still at war?".

[LCDR Matthew Harmon - Intelligence Office]
As Avi left and Dak looked into the room for orders, Harmon simply waved his hand indicating it was fine for him to let Avi go. She couldn’t get up to too must mischief other than maybe stealing something, but he would consider that part of payment, so long as it wasn’t anything too sensitive.
He leaned back in his chair and took a sip of his drink as Mabel spoke. “I chose her because she was very much not Starfleet. She doesn’t act like us, talk like us, smell like us as you were so eager to point out,” he wasn’t particularly pleased with Mabel’s unnecessary attempt to antagonise his asset. He could do that enough on his own. “She had the skills to make her a useful recruit to the Alliance, the street smarts to survive, and the motivation to do the job,” he explained. “Very rarely are those who look the best on paper, actually the best,” he chuckled ever so slightly at that last one at the thought that maybe he had just given the Commander’s protege a life lesson of his own. “Remember that. The Commander thinks you’re going places.”
He then got up and headed to the Bridge, presumably with Mabel in tow, though he looked at his PADD as he was walking and did not look back to see if she was following. The Commander seemed to think Perry might have been targeted. It was certainly possible. But they didn’t have any clear answer for a motive or suspect so far. Any number of theories made sense.
[Bridge]
He entered the bridge just as the ship rocked ever so slightly from an explosion. He was used to the shakes of combat and easily kept his footing as he walked to the centre of the bridge. Velal mentioned the Soteria offering aid and Intel. He cared little for the former but was very interested in the later. “Thank them for their offer of aid, but let them know we have things under control,” he said establishing himself as having taken command. Quinn was good at his job but too sympathetic to Vasser, and besides Harmon could claim seniority. “Tell them we eagerly anticipate their information.” Hopefully they’d actually share everything and weren’t just playing them.

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Sickbay, USS Mac]As the ship shook, Judy thought whether she should head to the Bridge right away. The fact that the crew hadn't called a red alert could speak to a situation that wasn't truly urgent, or perhaps Quinn was just figuring out what to do. Judy found the scientist to be very capable (she had been fully on board with his rapid promotion), but he had shown an inclination to trust Vasser beyond what Judy felt was appropriate. After a moment of pause, she chose to trust - Isaiah Quinn was nobody's fool, and Vasser was probably not the aggressor anyway. "Calvin," she addressed the man by his first name. "You're on the Mac. I'm Judy, your First Officer. There was an accident, and you were injured; you seem to have a little bit of amnesia. You're going to be okay."Judy could only hope that the memory loss would subside soon, or else Calvin would be in for a world of hurt. If he'd forgotten his wife's passing (as seemed possible), that would certainly be a source of immense pain. She waited to see how he reacted, not wanting to just leave him now. If the crew needed her, they could call.

[LCDR Matthew Harmon - Intelligence Office] As Avi left and Dak looked into the room for orders, Harmon simply waved his hand indicating it was fine for him to let Avi go. The Commander thinks you’re going places.” He then got up and headed to the Bridge, presumably with Mabel in tow, though he looked at his PADD as he was walking and did not look back to see if she was following. The Commander seemed to think Perry might have been targeted. It was certainly possible. But they didn’t have any clear answer for a motive or suspect so far. Any number of theories made sense. [Bridge] He entered the bridge just as the ship rocked ever so slightly from an explosion. [NPC - Ens. Mabel Henriksen - Intelligence Office -> Bridge, USS Mac]Mabel looked a little sheepish, realizing that she had been far too mean, and that Harmon wasn't having it. At least, she was getting a life lesson rather than a dressing-down. "Yes, sir. I understand, sir," she acknowledged. Following him to the Bridge, she took the time to digest the idea further. Yes, it did make sense that all the traits that made Moz so disdainful also made her useful. Certainly, Mabel herself wouldn't have lasted half as long undercover. On the Bridge, she stood idle, trying to decide if to call Judy over. The LCDRs were both capable, but if they were to start fighting over authority (or if Harmon were to do something too rash), then there'd be no choice but to bring in the boss.

Tag Judith Eastman , Jovireh Velal , Ozu Saya , Avi Moz [Lt. Paawin Riyo - USS Mac - Sickbay]Riyo didn't know the Commander well, but it was obvious she cared about her people. As she followed him to Perry's side, he pressed the hypospray against the Commodore's neck, starting with the one that would counteract the anesthetic. It would only take a few moments for him to regain consciousness, a few moments after that for the grogginess to pass. He readied the second hypo - the pain reliever - in case what he had already given him wasn't enough. He took the moment to look over at the Commander. "Please try to be brief, and stay positive. If he loses hope now there may be no saving him." He had seen it happen too many times, especially when patients realized they lost what they had dedicated their entire lives to - in this case, Perry's career. Tag Jovireh Velal (Paawin), Thea Baker (Perry) [Lt. Paawin Riyo - USS Mac - Sickbay]Riyo was grateful the Commander seemed to decide to wait until she was summoned to the Bridge, especially when the Commodore awoke and seemed to have lost quite a bit of time. That certainly didn't bode as well as he'd been hoping... The doctor opened his mouth to reassure the Commander it may not be as bad as it sounded - recent memories could very well return with a little prompting - when she responded to the patient beautifully. Either she had experience with someone who had amnesia, or she was a natural at comfort. Either one he found to be entirely possible. He shifted his attention back to his patient. "I'm Doctor Paawin, I'm just a substitute on this mission so I wouldn't expect you to recognize me on a normal basis." The Commodore didn't need to stress about not knowing him when they hadn't met before. "Judy is here making sure I take good care of you." It seemed Perry wasn't in a great deal of pain, so Riyo set the hypo down on the tray, keeping it handy just in case. He lifted his now-empty hand and held three fingers a reasonable distance from the other man's face. "Can you tell me how many fingers I'm holding up?" If his vision hadn't been fully repaired, that might add to his confusion.
